Chapter 1: It's All Yin and Jin's Fault

Chapter Text

"And start!" Mei giggled loudly as she held up MK's phone, streaming the duel to their fans.

MK grounded his feet, lowering his body while raising his staff. His lips were pulled into a confident smirk. Redson smirked back, lowering his center of gravity as well. Then the two charged, one with flaming fists.

Red hit ruyi jingu bang, causing the smaller male to skid back a couple of inches. Of course, he tossed the demon off and swung the golden tip of his staff at him. The demon slipped under the wide arc, shooting out a stream of white-hot fire.

MK jumped back and to the side, shrinking his staff. He shot toward Redson again, planning on hitting the bull by extending his staff at the last second. Redson blocked the attack, sending off a few rounds of expert hits that MK barely blocked. Then ruyi jingu bang was thrown from his grasp, and he was knocked to the ground.

With a heavy groan, he kicked his foot into the other's chest, sending him back. Scrambling to get up, he raised his fists. Lately, his two mentors had been training him on hand-to-hand combat seeing as every villain of his knows that without the staff he's basically human. It seemed that Redson had been doing the same with his family as his technique had definitely improved.

They began a more physical and graphic fight; MK using more grabbling and restraining movements while Redson used more straightforward attacks and was keeping his body lower, making it harder for MK to grapple him. The fighting was fun though. The adrenaline rushing through their blood, the quick and heavy pants for air as the sun beat down on them. It felt amazing. In the end, MK just barely won, smiling a bright and bloody smile.

The sorta-human had several claw marks along his face and arms, bruises already forming along different areas as well. His hair was a mess, with his new ribbon slightly undone from his braid. The bull-demon wasn't much better, actively bleeding gold from a broken nose and his own claw marks. He had plenty more bruises from his arms and shoulders, mostly where he was blocking/getting hit by MK's trusty staff. His own hair was messy, the tie half way hanging out and entangled in the red mess. Yet, he too was smiling. It was a bit crooked, but it was there!

The two of them gazed at each other, their eyes wondering along the other's bruised body. Strangely, well strange for one of them, they found the sight enticing.

"That was awesome!" Mei's voice broke them out of their momentary trance, a deep blush settling along their cheeks.

"Yeah! I didn't know you could do that!" MK's eyes shimmered as he latched himself onto the bull demon.

Redson pulled his head away, huffing indignantly.

"Well, I am Redson, child of-"

A large explosion sounded behind the trio, a bright beam of jade green with flickers of sun gold filled the sky. The trio watched in annoyance.

"Better not be an end of the world. Again." Redson hissed, shifting his weight to lean a little on the sorta-human.

MK wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer. Affectionately, he nuzzled the other's cheek, still smiling.

"It'll be fine! Plus, we've grown stronger!" He chittered so happily.

Mei joined on MK's other side, wrapping an arm around his neck. She raised the still streaming phone with a beaming smile.

"I guess we gotta cut this short! The Monkie Trio are on the way to explore whatever that was!"

Redson instantly looked offended.

"We are not calling ourselves that!"

"This is Mei Long signing off!" She raised her free hand to do a peace sign, her dark eyes briefly flashing a dragon green.

"This is Monkie Kid also signing off!" MK gave his own peace signs, his soft eyes glowing a sharp yellow-gold.

The two mischievous mortals gave their friend a look, a smug look for each of them.

With a heavy sigh that was so close to being a groan, Red went with them. "Redson of the Demon Bull Family... Signing off." He simply tilted his head away from the two mortals, eyes and hair sparking.

The two laughed triumphantly, MK pulling his friend back and rubbing his nose against the demon's neck. Said demon tensed, but didn't necessarily pull away.

"Well, we'll see you all next time!" Mei officially signed off, stopping the stream. There were plenty of good lucks and wishes for them to stream the fight, but Mei just turned off the phone before it could get annoying.

"Alrighty! Let's hurry!" MK bounced away from the two, picking up his staff.

Redson rolled his eyes, pulling his hair tie out to properly fix it. He sighed heavily when he saw that MK was just going to run into a battle with his hair half undone. Wordlessly, he tugged the multicolored ribbon out of the other's hair. Then he wove it and MK's bouncy hair back into a braid, tighter and proper this time. MK stood still, his eyes half closed in enjoyment. He also did love it when someone he liked played with his hair.

"Come on! We're gonna miss all the fun!" Mei shouted from her bike, tilting her head back with a whine.

MK and Redson flushed brightly, a sheepish smile on his face as he pulled Redson close to him.

"Hold on!" Was the only warning the Bull demon had before the two were launched into the air.

The larger demon clung to the other, wincing a little at the rushing wind. Still, he was quiet about it all. He was a demon damn it! A powerful one from a powerful family!

It wasn't long before the trio were at the outskirts of the city, the ground being lush with flowers and wild grass and the occasional tree. Then there was a crumbling building that was pulsing with magic.

Shifting into a large falcon, MK flew down with Redson on his back. He usually would've just fallen but that would've been too rough and mean to his passenger. Just as he landed, Mei had skidded to a stop. Her silvery-white suit shimmered as it faded back into her usual outfit. She patted the bits of dust that had blew on her. She pulled out her blade, her laid back expression switching to a more serious one. MK and Redson matched her expression, both ready to fight.

They made their way into the building, the lights flickering. It was giving the entire thing a creepy vibe. Soon however, they entered a large room that was covered in talisman, runes, and other sigils and seals. Standing at the center of it all, were the two demons that the three didn't want to deal with.

"Yin, Jin!" MK moved forward, placing ruyi jingu bang on his shoulder.

The twin, were they even twins?, demons snapped their heads up from a pendant they practically were shoving their faces into. The two scrambled, trying to look intimidating as usual, but they had dropped the pendant. It landed harshly on the floor, right on the line of the largest sigil there was. A bright flash, similar to the one that had attracted the trio's attention, lit the room. The five flinched away from the light, an eerie feeling erupting from the light. A light that seemed to suck everything in.

MK reacted on instinct. He broke a hole in the roof with ruyi jingu bang, then he tossed Mei and Redson out seconds before Yin and Jin followed. MK tried to follow, but his vision was soon filled with jade and gold colors.

Then he woke up lying flat in an alley of some kind. A pulsing headache pounded against his skull, making him whine a little. Slowly, he sat up and squinted to see where he was. He had vaguely seen the sigil on the floor, which actually looked more like a teleporting seal. The same kind that Tang often uses, maybe a rune or so off. Which meant that he was somewhere else.

It took a couple of minutes before MK could finally see where he was. Which was in a familiar alley. He didn't know why it was familiar, but it was familiar. Which meant he had to be within his city. He knows every inch of his city from both hero work and delivering Pigsy's noodles.

Stumbling out of the alley, he ran a hand through his ruffled hair. For a moment, he panicked, not feeling his new ribbon. Pulling his hand away, he relaxed as he saw the ribbon wrapped around his hand. His long hair fell in his face, but that didn't matter as he was suddenly pushed into the brick wall behind him. He grunted in pain before looking up to see what had hit him.

A demon, a big demon with a large dog head that had sharp teeth that peeked out from his snout. Now, MK's city wasn't a stranger to many different types of demons, but the only demons that the half-human could think of that looked so animal-like were DBK and Monkey King's old Brotherhood!

"Watch where you're going, human." The word was spat like acid, a cocky sort of grin on his face before stomping off.

MK blinked very slowly as his soft hazel eyes took in more and more demons with their monstrous appearances out in the open. Then he noticed the taste in the air. Blood and magic, very old magic that reminded him of the Ink Scroll... Except it was deeper and alive, no after scent of ink, no feeling like he was covered in something off putting.

"What the hell did they find?" He muttered, shrinking back into the welcoming darkness of the alleyway. Like seriously, what did Yin and Jin do?
