The weekend was going great.
I mean, it was Christmas weekend, not to mention that Barney was spending it with his best friend, Gordon. What's not to love?
Just the feeling in his chest he couldn't shake, and the metaphorical butterflies that fluttered in his stomach every time Gordon got just a bit too close, because he definitely doesn't have a huge crush on the mute physicist, that would be crazy. Not to mention weird, because he also definitely isn't gay.
Okay, maybe he is, but its not like he can just confess his feelings! Especially not now, when everything is going so well. They're sitting on the couch in Gordon's dorm, watching whatever Christmas movies that Gordon could find a DVD of at Goodwill. But he just looks so pretty, especially in casual clothing, wearing a worn out M.I.T shirt and grey sweatpants. His ponytail is loose, hair poking out at the top. No, pretty isn't the right word, there are so many words to describe Gordon. Smart, silent...
Maybe handsome would suffice.
Barney looks at the man, eyes darting to his face, his hair again, then finally his lips. So soft, so... kissable?
Okay, maybe not that, maybe not that because he is crazy to fall for Dr. Freeman, the man who could solve any equation or theory you could throw at him, while Barney flunked AP Physics. This is crazy, this is crazy-
But he seemed not to care.
Barney got closer to Gordon, taking in his features.
The brunette noticed, looking away from the movie. He put down his soda, pointing to Barney. "You aren't paying attention."
Barney laughed. "Sorry, doc. You're just... uh..." Yeah, best to not finish that thought.
Gordon seemed to read his mind though. "You're pretty too."
What?
The scientist was always so blunt with his words, his emotions. Barney stuttered, his cheeks flushing a bright pink. "Uh, that's... doc?"
Gordon smiled, opting to fingerspell his feelings instead. "P-R-E-T-T-Y."
"Well Gord'n, Ya' sure know how to make me flustered..." He smiled awkwardly, not exactly matching Freeman's shit eating grin.
The physicist got closer, sharing breath with the other. He made a flattened O shape with his hands, bringing them together. "I want to kiss you."
"Geez, I- alright." Barney stuttered again, finally breaking the gap between them. Gordon's beard prickled the others face as they kissed, more experimental than anything.
Eventually they separated for air, Barney looking at the scientist with wide eyes and bright cheeks. "Wow."
Gordon snickered. "I should have gotten some mistletoe."
"Well, we can pretend, yeah?" Barney grinned, cupping the other's cheek. He kissed Gordon again, more confident this time. He then moved his hand to the back of The physicist's head, feeling his auburn hair.
Then the two stayed like this for several moments, the movie playing in the background the only sound in the small dorm. That seemed to be forgotten though, as Barney and Gordon just wanted each other right now, and that was okay.
