Work Text:
A Wenclair Christmas
Wednesday entered their room with a slight smirk adorning her features. Enid was in her closet changing out of her uniform. She poked her head out when her wolfish hearing picked up on the door clicking quietly closed. She quickly threw her shirt on the rest of the way and skipped her way out into the room to meet her still-smirking girlfriend.
“Howdy my dear raven, what are you so filled with joy about that you're actually smiling? Is Fester back??” She said, standing almost close enough to touch, fiddling with her fingers out of slight nervousness at the excitement pouring from her short and wonderfully dark girlfriend.
Wednesday looked up into her eyes and her face neutralized into its usual deadpan, though with a hint of softness she reserved just for Enid. This made Enid smile and eased her anxiety for a moment.
“I'm just getting into the Christmas spirit mi amor. Would you like to watch a movie?”
Enid raised her eyebrows in suspicion. “A movie? What kind of movie?”
Wednesday moved in closer and took the wolf's hands. “A Christmas movie. It's called Krampus. Have you ever heard of it? It was recommended to me by Yoko.” Enid's eyebrows shot up slightly as she heard Yoko's name coming from her antisocial girlfriend. Usually, they'd be at each other's throats, not sharing movie ideas.
She shook her head with a small smile as she closed her eyes, deciding for now to leave it alone, choosing instead to take in her girlfriend's scent after having been away from her a whole day.
Wednesday's mouth twitched upwards as her slight distraction worked and she squeezed Enid's hands three times before backing away and walking to her closet. Enid stood in the same spot, her eyes half-lidded as they stared at the closet door. Wednesday emerged soon after in an oversized zip-up jacket that covered a checkered sweater and knee-high socks. For once she was without her heavy boots.
She approached Enid again and took in her outfit. It surprisingly consisted of dark grey shorts and a plain black t-shirt that most definitely belonged to Wednesday; if the slight showing of skin at the bottom when she lifted her arms was any indication. She loved it when her girlfriend tried her darker wardrobe.
“You look lovely Cara Mia, I have always enjoyed such a dark shade on you,” Wednesday said with a smirk as she stepped ever closer, invading the wolf's space. Enid smiled down at her, her eyes glowing with happiness.
“I'm glad you like it, I just wanted to be comfortable, and I figured we would spend time together tonight so I wanted to be sure you were comfortable.” Wednesday hummed quietly in response and gently placed her hand on the back of the wolf's neck before pulling her in for a passionate but gentle kiss.
When they finally parted the wolf was blushing and her eyes opened to reveal a slightly dazed look as she looked down at her girlfriend.
“Are you ready to watch the movie now my dearest wolf?” Wednesday asked softly and Enid nodded her head, still looking dazed as she gestured to her side of the room.
Wednesday grabbed her hand gently and led her to sit on the horridly colored comforter underneath the soft glow of fairy lights. Enid took her laptop from her desk and Wednesday pulled it into her lap to find the specific movie. Enid decided to watch the lights above them while she waited on her girlfriend.
Once it was discovered Wednesday pressed play and they settled in, Enid gently pulled Wednesday into her lap to which the Raven grunted in response. Enid just chuckled and kissed her head as she pulled the brunette in to relax against her chest.
The movie began just like any other Christmas movie, family chaos, decorating, cookie making, annoying family members. Enid stared at the screen, seemingly completely invested in the movie already. Wednesday shuffled closer to the supernatural heat behind her and would momentarily look back at her to see her reaction to every scene.
Enid's face changed once the wind took the child's ripped-up note and she looked at Wednesday with a slightly nervous expression on her face. The power went out and a blizzard started leaving the family completely isolated. Enid bit her lip nervously in response. Wednesday affectionately squeezed Enid's arm, easily hiding her smirk under a mask of indifference.
“Are you sure this is just a typical Christmas movie?”
“It is as far as I'm aware, I have not seen it before.”
“And Yoko recommended this?”
“Yes.”
Enid's attention returned to the screen as they continued to watch together, though the hair on the back of her neck now stood on end. Enid grimaced at the sudden appearance of the snowmen in the front yard and squeezed Wednesday just a little bit tighter.
Then the slightly cynical teenage daughter trekked out into the unforgiving snow to go after her probably already snowmanned boyfriend. Enid whimpered lowly, knowing that this likely wouldn't be good. She tried to lean further into the brunette's space, though they were already flush together. Wednesday's eyes shimmered in the low light, filled with excitement.
Then the daughter was chased down like an injured deer during hunting season and ultimately gruesomely murdered by some unknown demonic force. At this Enid was left trembling slightly, hiding behind the short brunette just in case Krampus could come through the screen and eat her himself. Wednesday found herself slightly amused by the werewolf’s antics, knowing that she would put up one hell of a fight against Krampus.
Enid grimaced as more and more snowmen were added to the front lawn, she watched in awe as the grandmother did her best to make sure the fire kept going. However, she found herself slightly frustrated that the grandmother refused to tell what exactly she was trying to protect them from. She was slightly horrified at the creature beneath the snow. She almost looked beside the bed to make sure nothing would grab her ankles if she put her legs down, but she decided that was a bit much.
Then came the climax, Wednesday watched as her eyes went wide when she realized the fire had finally gone out. As the whole family slept soundly, the danger around them completely unknown.
She was slightly enraged as the family didn't wake up to the loud sound of jingling bells and she looked at Wednesday in disbelief.
“I would've heard that from the top of the chimney! And there's no way I would've let that fire go out!! I would protect you with my life from this ridiculous creature! I don’t care that he’s Santa's shadow!” She stared at the screen angrily as she ranted. Wednesday paused the movie and turned towards her blonde lover as she continued with her rant.
She leaned forward and silenced her with a gentle kiss. “I know you would protect me, as I would protect you, Cara Mia. I'm enjoying your small display of wolfish rage but let us continue the movie, I am particularly invested now.”
Enid gently bumped their foreheads together and nodded slowly, taking a deep breath, her eyes no longer glowing their beautiful vibrant blue.
Wednesday settled back against her as they continued watching as one of the children was yanked up the chimney, followed by 4 other family members.
“If I didn't know any better I'd think he's a werewolf with that strength,” Enid mumbled quietly to herself and Wednesday tucked her head under her chin in response.
Enid's face paled at the scene with the cannibalistic jack-in-the-box and the angel that seems to just want to eat your face. And she laughed at the murderous robot which surprised Wednesday but also warmed her heart. Enid mumbled about how insane a killer robotic toy is and laughed when he couldn’t pull it from his back. She would truly make an excellent member of the Addams family.
As they approached the more intense parts of the movie the werewolf was almost squeezing the life out of the dark brunette as she watched with rapt attention and a reasonable amount of fear. Of course, the Raven would not complain as she found the pressure quite comforting.
“I almost just got my ass kicked by a bunch of Christmas cookies!!” Wednesday couldn't help the smile as Enid let out a laugh and she allowed the Addams to take over for just a moment as she kissed Enid's cheek in response.
As soon as the elves broke through and started taking people Enid could no longer handle watching and hid behind Wednesday whimpering, Wednesday watched in excitement as they tried to escape, though she felt a bit saddened when the grandmother sacrificed her life for theirs. The grandmother reminded her of her fearless grandmother.
Once the movie was over Wednesday closed the laptop and turned in her girlfriend's lap, straddling her hips and lifting her head to look into her eyes.
“Are you okay, meus lupus?” (my wolf) Wednesday placed both hands on her cheeks and gently caressed her cheekbones with a thumb.
“Yes, it was a good movie but uhm... You're gonna sleep with me tonight right?” Enid asked and gently grasped the ravenettes wrists in her hands, her claws itching slightly to be released.
“Of course, why would I not?” Wednesday kissed her forehead. “Would you like to lay down now?”
Enid shook her head in response and looked up at Wednesday, her eyes glowing blue. Wednesday gasped quietly as she waited for Enid to make a move.
“Are you going to murder your favorite vampire?” Enid smirked and shook her head.
“Can I murder your favorite vampire?” Enid gave her a pointed glare and Wednesday smirked, leaning in to give her wolf a gentle kiss.
Then they sat up together half of the night just chatting about nothing in particular, enjoying just being together for the holidays. Most of Nevermore just had their families visit instead of returning home for the couple of days they received as a break. Enid would laugh and it would fill Wednesday's darkened heart with light. She knew that in the end, the Addams family curse could have chosen no one better than Enid Sinclair.
—----------------------
The next morning came and of course, as always Wednesday and Enid got breakfast together, each getting the other their favorite drink, tea for Wednesday and a diabetes-inducing coffee for Enid.
They sat down at the table with the Nightshades, Ajax and Xavier were animated in conversation, Bianca was observing the table with a keen eye, and Yoko and Divina were seemingly whispering sweet nothings to each other if the blush on the siren’s face was any indication. They all ate together in peace, although Kent didn’t show no one was concerned, he was likely skipping that day to hang out with his mysterious gorgon boyfriend Kevin.
Once they were finished Enid squeezed Wednesday's hand 3 times, aware of how her girlfriend disapproved of public displays of affection. Wednesday smirked as she took a drink from her cup and squeezed in return before releasing Enid’s hand. She watched Enid wander over to Yoko and knew this was going to be interesting.
“So, Yoko, that was an interesting Christmas movie you recommended.” Yoko froze and Divina covered her mouth with a hand, trying not to laugh at her girlfriend's lack of luck today.
“Uh, yeah. Did Wednesday like it?”
“Oh, Wednesday loved it.”
“Oh, good… WAIT. WAIT WAIT!” Yoko scrambled from her seat as Enid reached out for her, claws extended, eyes glowing. “I CAN EXPLAIN, WAIT, PUP WAIT!”
The vampire screeched as the wolf chased her across the quad, Wednesday failing to hide her amusement as she and Bianca snickered together. Divina had her head resting on the table, her laughter bringing her to tears.
“DIVI, PLEASE BABY, HELP ME!”
“SHE CAN'T SAVE YOU TANAKA!”
Wednesday watched as the werewolf closed in on the vampire and tackled her, they began battling on the ground, their strength seeming to match as they rolled and threw each other around. Wednesday was thankful that it was Saturday, that would have been a lot of dirt and grass stains on Enid's uniform. Wednesday and Divina, (now that she had risen from the dead), were watching their girlfriends with amusement and slight hunger, happily enjoying the display of supernatural power. The pair continued fighting even after the quad began to clear out and finally, Wednesday and Divina were forced to intervene.
Enid was on top of Yoko angrily choking her out which Wednesday found amusing considering the vampire didn’t need to breathe and Yoko had her vampiric nails dug into the wolf's shoulders as she tried to push her away, the blood slightly staining her shirt. Though the seer knew that the scratches would be healed in literal moments. Wednesday gripped the hair at the back of Enid's head and pulled her in for a searing kiss, causing her to immediately release Yoko and push the vampire down to stand, pulling the brunette against her. She was absolutely going to take advantage of this PDA opportunity.
Divina helped her girlfriend to stand and gave her a passionate kiss and as the two couples broke apart Enid and Yoko locked eyes once more.
“I'm sorry pup, I didn't entirely realize she'd show it to you.”
“It's fine, I just think you needed to learn that I'm not just a pup,” Enid responded teasingly and the vampire laughed.
“I suppose I did, you've got quite the strength with you Nids.”
“So did those Christmas cookies.”
They smirked at each other before starting in unison, “I just got my ass kicked by a bunch of Christmas cookies!!”
They shared a gleeful laugh and Enid nodded happily and moved towards Yoko for a hug, after a moment they broke apart. As they did so snow began to fall and Enid's smile became positively vibrant as the blonde pulled Wednesday inside, knowing the seer was cold-blooded. They stood together watching as the snow began falling faster and the vampire and siren danced together joyfully in the quad.
“Happy Holidays Wens.”
“Happy Holidays mi lobo.”
