Chapter Text

A/N

I saw What If this morning and oh my Groot, I've been waiting to see either Itsy-Betsy Parker, Linda Duck or Shocket Raccoon and we got Linda and she's so adorable plus Darcy and Howard are great parents so I couldn't help but wrire something imagining Baby Linda and Baby Shocket being friends, growing up together. In this first one, Darcy, Howard, Nebula and Rocket are having a playdate at Nebula and Rocket's house and Baby Linda meets Shocket sparking a special bond pkus Linda is unaware of her being special, magical and Darcy and Howard might wait until she's older to tell her that story which she'd be stunned by.

I was made for loving you, baby. "Howard, what're you singing to your lil birdie as that don't sound like stuff normal Terran parents sing to their kits. Nebula's getting Emily and Shocket ready but it's great they can get together maybe be friends." Rocket told Howard as they were drinking coffee instead of what they normally drank.

"It's I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss, Rocket. It calms Linda when she cries or can't sleep, Rocket and bet you and Nebula sing to Emily and Shocket when they need it." Darcy said feeding Linda a bottle which made Rocket smile as he was Linda's godfather. It was a few months after Darcy and Howard's egg had hatched and Linda-Lewis Duckman was here, unaware of how special she was even when in her egg only Darcy and Howard had decided to wait, until she was much older to tell their lil birdie that story.

"Rocket, Emmy's ready but Shocket… she's being stubborn. Can you help." Nebula said to him.

"Yep oh Groot, Shocket's crawling without a diaper on. Shocket honey let's get a diaper on, then you can meet Linda okay." Rocket told her seeing her crawl towards Darcy seeing Linda look at her in awe like she was doing with her.

"I think somebody made a friend which is good. Ewww Shocket now you need a diaper." Rocket told her scooping up the mohawked female infant putting her on the changing table hearing Linda crying guessing she wanted Shocket smirking. "You made an impression on Linda you know." he said kissing her head after a clean diaper was on her.

"Now we can play hehe." Shocket mumbled. She knew her daddy couldn't understand her or Emily but they loved making him think they could talk wanting to teach Linda that game. Linda felt better seeing Shocket in the playpen seeing Shocket hug her making the infant duckling smile and Emily surprised. "Hey Emmy let's play the Talking Game and show Linda." Shocket said to her twin-sister making Emily smirk.

"Dada, dada." Emily said making Rocket's eyes widen and Emily and Shocket giggle along with Linda

"Darcy, Howard, Nebula, Emmy talked, I heard her this time." Rocket told them.

"Rocket, we talked about this, they're just babies, you're just hearing noises." Nebula said.

"Hehe it never gets old, Linda. I know one day we will talk for realises, so we gotta make the most of it." Shocket told her making Linda impressed making Emily stunned they were becoming friends as she did go to playgroup only Shocket had gotten kicked out of playgroup so Linda becoming her pal was a good thing.

"Here we go, juice boxes." Linda said smiling at Shocket making her and Emily nod.

They were toasting to friendship and their blossoming relationship making Darcy, Howard, Nebula andRocket agreeing knowing those two had a great future ahead of them only when it was time to go, Linda and Shocket weren't happy even though Howard and Rocket promised they'd see each other soon.

"She'll feel better after her nap, Nebula." Rocket told Nebula as he was cleaning up the mess from the antics that had happened plus he and Nebula had arranged a playdate with Darcy and Howard hoping things were okay at Darcy and Howard’s.

"That play date was a success, and Linda made quite a friend in Shocket. She's calming down after her bottle and is singing her a certain song. I hope Nebula and Rocket calmed Shocket down." Darcy told Howard.

They were back in their apartment home and had just put Linda down for an nap, after her first playdate with Shocket and making quite an impression in the mohawked raccoon infant but right now, she was asleep in her crib so they could relax for a bit only they loved being parents hoping the Ravagers, the Grandmaster and all the others had forgotten about their lil birdie being magical hoping she wouldn't display any of that growing up.

"She'll be okay, Darcy, she's got us and now she's got Shocket." Howard told her kissing her.

"Yeah, I can call Linda using daddy's phone l. He won't mind if he and mommy say Emmy and me have to share our toys, daddy has to too." Shocket said as she was in the living-room with Rocket only she was on the floor with toys and Rocket was doing stuff on his phone hearing his tummy making weird sounds meaning he'd put his phone down seeing him get off the couch which made her excited knowing this was her chance.

"Shockie honey, I'm just getting a snack okay. You keep out of trouble." Rocket told her.

Shocket saw his phone on the lil coffee table she and Emily could reach, holding out her lil paw and the phone just flew into it impressing her, crawling underneath the table activating the phone finding Howard calling unaware Linda had her dad's phone making her giggle hearing Linda after swiping to answer making Rocket wonder what wasgoing on in there. "Ummm Rocket, somebody has your phone and on a call." Nebula said to him trying not to smile at Shocket's antics.

"Of course she would, wait how can a kit her age even use a phone." Rocket asked.

"A kit that has your smarts, that's how." Nebula told him seeing him knocking on the table like a door hearing Shocket hissibg making him frowning moving the table making Nebula guess this was gonna fail.

"Shocket Melissa Raccoon, daddy's phone isn't a toy and he needs it back." he said.

Shocket didn't like this game throwing her dad across the room amusing Nebula using mommy tricks to get her to not want the phone seeing it working as Rocket got his phone back. After Linda hung up, Shocket whimpered then started crying but Nebula rocking her was helping her feel better She knew how much Linda and Shocket liked being around each other so hoped they could help Shocket when she missed Linda making Rocket agree.

Meanwhile in the Duck apartment, Darcy had just calmed Linda down, after Howard had gotten his phone back, knowing she'd been talking to Shocket guessing the same thing had happened at Nebula and Rocket's making Howard sigh as he hoped Linda was okay seeing Darcy nodding. "Yep, she's sleeping right now. Aren't you going out soon." she asked him.

"Yeah, I am, and not gonna get in trouble. If she wakes up cranky, there's bottles in the fridge or sing her special song if she gets fussy." Howard told her kissing her before leaving only noticing Linda was sleep-hovering above her crib making Darcy worried. She knew their lil birdie was magical and that she didn't know how to use her powers yet but was putting pillows around the crib in case she fell as she and Howard didn't want her hurt seeing Linda hover gently back into her crib with a smile on her lil bill in sleep.

"Ohhhh honey, we need to baby proof this house for you." she said kissing her fluffy head seeing a message from Nebula on her phone saying Shocket was missing Linda and made her smile wondering if she'd been dreaming about Shocket making her grin getting an idea texting her. Meanwhile at the Raccoon Den, Shocket was crawling with Rocket's phone but liked Darcy's idea deciding to meet her at Starbuck's asking Rocket, to watch their kits.

"Tell Shocket to give me my phone back." Rocket told her.

"Shocket honey, Linda's sleeping, so let's give daddy back his phone." Nebula said getting an idea as Darcy would have Linda with her taking Shocket with her relieving Rocket hearing Emily up going to get her from her crib hoping Shocket would calm down as she responded to Nebula.   At Starbucks, Shocket was in her mom’s carrier excited seeing Linda asleep knowing this time wasn’t a laytime and Nebula had gotten her a cookie so she was calm.

”The stuffie idea could work, Nebula and sorry, Linda took Howard’s phone.” Darcy told her.

”It’s okay, Rocket had to pry his phone out of Shocket’s lil paws.’ Nebula told her.

"Are you sure this is a good idea, giving Linda a toddler bed. What if she's not ready." Darcy asked.

It was a year later, and Darcy and Howard's lil birdie had turned one which had been fun but emotional for them plus had invited Emily and Shocket along with Nebula and Rocket at the park leading to fun including Linda flying taking Shocket with her which made both kids impressed along with Rocket and Nebula plus Linda and Shocket had a cake fight which Howard had recorded because heand Darcy wanted to record every moment with their lil birdie as she grew up. "Of course she's ready Darcy. Nebula and Rocket already did this with Emmy and Shocket." Howard told her.

Since their lil birdie was becoming a toddler, Howard had decided it was time for Linda to have a toddler-bed even if at first, it might be chaotic and Linda might get out of bed but that was part of it which Darcy agreed with seeing Linda waddling as she was walking, holding her stuffed raccoon in her arms which reminded her of Shocket when they weren't together which calmed her so she didn't want to take Howard's phone anymore wondering what was happening making Darcy sigh.

"It's your new bed, sweetie, as you're getting too big for yohr crib. I know it's scary but Shocket has one at her house." Darcy said making Howard sense their lil birdie might not be keen. "Let's just give it a try honey." he told her seeing her nod quacking because she couldn't talk yet like Shocket making raccoon noises because she couldn't talk yet too.

They were having dinner, but Darcy was feeding Linda making her laugh which was music to their ears but after a while, they were doing her bedtime routine like her bath which she loved splashing making them laugh after drying her off putting her in pyjamas giving her a bottle telling her stories about a magical lil birdie like her, hearing her yawning guessing it was time to tuck her in kissing her fluffy lil head turning on the nightlight before leaving her room cleaning up, then going to their room getting ready for bed themselves humming a certain song they sangtomLinda.

The next morning, Howard couldn't help but smile along with Darcy seeing Linda sleeping in bed with them, guessing she wasn't adjusting to her new bed, deciding not to wake her yet as she needed her rest seeing Darcy get up to make breakfast only Howard was snuggling with Linda humming a certain song softly to her making Linda smile in sleep as he kissed her fluffy head but after a while she woke up, smiling at him.

"Morning honey, I guess you need to get used to your new bed. Mommy's making breakfast." Howard told her.

"Howard breakfast's ready. Is Libda up." Darcy asked as Linda followed him into the kitchen, relieving Darcy as she put herin her highchair feeding her oatmeal which Howard thought cure. He knew that they were going to Nebula and Rocket's later so he and Darcy could ask Nebula and Rocket for advice.

"Your parents got you a big-kit bed too. Our mommy and daddy did that too with me and Emmy. I bet you get into your mommy and daddy's bed. Shocket does the same." Linda heard Emily say. "Emmy not cool as Linda didn't know about this." Shocket said to her twin-sister. That made Linda giggle at this making Howard and Darcy smile At this along with Nebula and Rocket who'd been amused by Linda not getting used to her new bed.

"Shocket is like that but we're working on it. Maybe Linda's the same." Nebula told them.

"That's good guys. We didn't make a mistake getting Linda to ditch the crib." Darcy told them.   “Nope, you didn’t as she needs to upgrade to a toddler-bed.” Rocket told her.   They then heard something smash as they ran into the kitchen seeing the cookie jar smashed, and Linda and Shocket eating cookies making Darcy and Howard chuckle as it was cure but Nebula sighed as she cleaned up putting them in the playpen.

"Mama, Mama, Dada." Darcy heard Linda say making her and Howard wide-eyed.

"Linda sweetie, did you just talk honey. Because if you did, we're so happy." Darcy said.

"Mama, Dada, Quacker." Linda said making Darcy and Howard excited, their lil birdie was talking.

"Awwww we knew you could. Shocket's gonna be surprised when she hears." Howard her feathered head making Darcy smirk, recording this. It was just a typical night in the Duck apartment and Linda had been swimming in the tub, one of her favourite things to do besides being with her parents and playing with Shocket until she'd started talking which made her parents proud hugging her.

"Howard, no teaching her bad words, and we should tell Rocket this, when we get over to their house." Darcy said to her husband making Howard blush. "Alright, I'm not gonna teach our sweet lil birdie bad words." Howard told her helping dry Linda off seeing her hug him.

"Come on honey let's get ready for bed. Mommy and I need rest too." Howard said.

Linda nodded as she was in pyjamas and a clean pair of pull ups since they would start potty training her when it was right for Linda not them giving her a cup of milk with a straw as they were weaning her off bottles and at first, Darcy had been anxious about this until Rocket had told her and Howard how they'd did it with Emily and Shocket making it like they were drinking mocktails and had put tiny umbrellas on the straws to add to it.

"Atta girl, drink up as you need it to grow big and strong." Darcy told Linda making her giggle.

"At least her powers haven't done anything crazy today." Howard whispered to Darcy.

"Well, she sleep-hovered above her bed, Howard." Darcy whispered to him. They heard Linda yawning meaning she was ready to go to bed so following her parents to her room. She was climbing in, cuddling her raccoon stuffie which reminded her of Shocket as her parents were telling her a story which was calming her down into sleep kissing her goodnight before leaving her room.

"Let's hope she sleeps through the night, Howard." Darcy told him.

"She will, as she was swimming in the tub." Howard told her.

"She's still sleeping, which is good and she's glowing. Oh geez…" Howard said as he was up. It was the next morning and he was letting Darcy sleep in plus was checking on Linda in her room stunned she was still sleeping hearing his phone buzz as it was a message from hisparents saying they were sending Linda gifts and proud of him for getting married and becoming a father making him sigh knowing they were surprised he'd married a human happy their grand-daughter was a duck like them making Howard scowl replying sitting on the couch in the living room havibg the TV on low so it wouldn't wake Darcy or Linda.

"At least they accept Linda and she's not even from Duckworld, even though Darcy's curious about them." he muttered.

After a bit and some coffee, Darcy and Linda were up, only Darcy noticed her husband was a lil sad until he told her making her get it hugging him. "Ohhhh honey what matters what they think. matters is Linda and me." Darcy told him.

"Yeah I know, honey." Howard said seeing Linda hug him. "Dada better." Linda asked making Howard smile.

"Yeah my lil slugger I think so thanks to you and mommy." he told her.   They were then going into the kitchen with Howard making breakfast giving Darcy a look suggesting eggs making her facepalm.   “Sorry Howard, okay no more eggs.” Howard heard her say as he was making pop tarts making Linda curious even though she’d no idea what they were being new to the world and still figuring out how to be a life form, a life form who had powers seeing the pop tarts levitate onto plates making Howard amused by Linda knowing these things would happen more and more as she grew up.

Chapter Text

“What’s your daddy drinking, Shocket.  It smells good.” Shocket heard Linda ask.   While Darcy and Howard were having some alone-time, Linda was at Nebula and Rocket’s with her bestie, Shocket and Shocket was curious about coffee, why the adults liked it so much getting an idea.   “Linda, fly and grab the mug for science.” Shocket whispered seeibg Linda do so bringing the mug to Shocket.

”One giant step for kits and ducklings, one giant leap for babykind.” Shocket declared as they shared the mug only they were hiccuping like they were drunk only Linda’s powers were activating, using her super-strength to grab the couch, making Shocket in awe along with Rocket, entering.

”Linda put the couch down.  We don’t want to hurt anybody.  Shocket stop encouraging her.” Rocket said as Shocket was giggling seeing Linda teleport impressing him because Darcy and Howard hadn’t said what Linda’s powers entailed only he had to calm them down noticing Shocket whimpering as her tail hurt making him and Linda worried.   “Sorry.” Linda said making Rocket know it hadn’t been Linda’s fault and it had been Shocket’s idea putting her down for an nap just as Nebula returned with Emily wondering what had happened to the living-room.

After Rocket left with Shocket to get checked out, Darcy and Howard showed up wondering what had happened, as Nebula explained.

”We knew that these things would happen with our lil birdie as she grows up.” Howard told her making Darcy agree.

”Shocket okay, mama, dada.” Linda asked, making Darcy and Howard get it.

”She has a broken tail, and it’s in a cast.  It wasn’t your fault honey.  Aunt Nebula and Ubcle Rocket aren’t mad plus it was Shocket’s idea to try coffee.” Darcy reassured her.   It wasn’t your fault afternoon in the Duck house but while Linda had finished her nap, Howard and Rocket had been talking so knew Linda was just a baby with powers but still a baby knowing she’d been worried about Shocket hugging her stuffed raccoon feeling her parents hug her.

”Okay mama.” Linda said yawning having a drink which was helping her feel better.

Chapter Text

”Howard, is she ready, as it’s her first day of school.  We can’t be late plus Shocket’s in her class so she’s excited.” Howard heard Darcy say.   It’d been five years since their lil birdie had hatched being an awesome, magical duckling but her first day of kindergarten had arrived which Darcy and Howard were excited yet emotional aboht trying not to make a big deal about it in front of Linda or she wouldn’t want to go to school.

”Yes Darcy, I made pancakes, in honour of our baby’s first day.” Howard told her.

Linda then came bounding in, wearing a purple top with black trousers plus had a backpack with her school things in it and her raccoon stuffie but also her lunch with snacks lus her hair feathers were in a pinytail excited about school along with all the things she and Shocket were going to do, hoping her teacher would understand, if her powers came out making Darcy and Howard get it.

”It’s okay honey as the other kids there have powers and school will help you learn to control them.” Darcy said to her seeing her lil birdie wear an apron so she wouldn’t spill on herself which Howard thought a sweet thought.

After eating and going to the bathroom, they were leaving getting in their car after buckling Linda into her car seat listening to the radio which was relaxing Darcy who was driving as Howard’s webbed feet were too short to reach the pedals which Linda had asked about which had made Darcy giggle.

They then arrived at Xaviers seeing Linda run up to Shocket hugging her, making Nebula and Rocket chuckle at this only Darcy saw they were just as emotional as them trying to not let Emily or Shocket see or they’d never go to school hearing the bell making Linda and Shocket nervous hugging their parents’s legs before joining their peers going inside.

”Now we can cry.” Howard told Rocket as they did along with Darcy and Negula.

Howard stirred from sleep, as it was early morning but letting Darcy sleep hearing their lil birdie was up entering her room seeing her hug him making his heart melt after the dream he’d just had as she was going after him into the kitchen sitting on the booster seat as he put a cup of juice in front of her hearing her thank him which made him smile.   “You’re welcome kiddo and mommy should be up soon.” Howard said to her putting on an apron making breakfast.

After a while, Darcy was up, surprised Howard had gotten Linda up along with making breakfast seeibg Linda eating messily but it was cute seeing her eating with her feathery hands instead of a fork and knife making Howard chuckle helping Linda wash her hands when they were done knowibg Shocket akibg with Negula and Rocket were coming over, which made Linda excited to show her friend her house following Darcy into the bathroom to get cleaned up hearing her giggle as she was showing her how, as she and Howard were teaching her life skills which were going well seeing her pick out a purple top with black trousers which Darcy found cute tying up her lil headfeathers into a pinytail making Howard choked up remembering the dream he’d had.

”I’ll tell you later honey, as our friends are coming.” Howard told her making her curious hearing gentle knocking on their door, as Darcy answered seeing Nebula and Rocket along with Emily and Shocket letting them in making Linda happy to see her, hugging her gently as her tail was still in a cast seeing Nebula put Emily and Shocket in the layoen telling Shocket to be good, following Darcy and Howard into the kitchen, to have some coffee.   They were in awe as Howard told them about the dream he’d had.

”Awwwww that’s so sweet Howie.  It’ll be better when it comes to her first day.” Rocket told him.

Chapter Text

"Awww, somebody's not feeling herself. We should let her rest since like you, she has the flu." Darcy said.

"It's that kind of season Darcy. She did get her avian flu shot like me." Howard replied blowing into a tissue.

In the Duck house right now, Howard had the flu and now, Linda had it too which bothered Darcy and Howard but it made their lil birdie sleepy and not herself knowing she wouldn't be that much fun to be around Shocket so Darcy was cancelling the okaydate knowing Linda was disappiinted but these things happened, she could have another one when she felt better.

"Yeah honey, as I was planning to hang out with Rocket, until I got sick." Howard told Linda.

Right now, Darcy was staying away from her husband and daughter because she didn't want t9mgetvsick plus Nebula and Rocket wanted to take them to Temple as Darcy was surprised they were Jewish only Howard thought it was awesome knowing about Hannukah knowing they'd get to be part of it. "We're still going for Shabbat on Friday, right." Howard said coughing as he and Linda were in a blanket on the couch making Darcy sigh.

"We'll see honey. We don't want to infect our friends. Like I told our lil birdie cancelling the play date." she said.

"Rocket can handle it. His cybernetics make light work of germs." Howard replied to her.

"Well you don't know p,us you're loopy from the fever and meds." Darcy said making soup. She knew it might help Howard and Linda get better besides the meds and orange juice along with resting seeing Howard drink the soup instead of using a spoon while Darcy was feeding it to Linda with a spoon which she was enjoying relieving Darcy as Nebula had told her Shocket had the flu already so Linda wouldn't infect her if they did come over for Shabbat relieving her.

"Yeah, my daddy and I are feeling better, so my mommy said it was okay to come." Linda said.

After lunch, she was putting Linda down for her nap knowing resting would help her get better plus would teach her how handwashing prevented germs from making her sick so she wouldn't have to miss playing with Shocket relieving Darcy leaving Linda's room making herself some tea seeing Howard asleep which was good.

"Shabbat yet." Shocket asked making Rocket chuckle. It was Friday night meaning Shabbat knowing they were having friends over and he was teaching Emily and Shocket the Jewiish traditions their family did including Shabbat dinner every Friday evening including having Darcy and Howard there meaning Linda which Meade Shocket happy only Linda being sick made her nervous but Nebula reassured her, that Linda would get better. "Yep as the sun set and Shabbat just started kiddo." Rocket told her stroking her lil Mohawk.

"I'll get it guys." Nebula said hearing the doorbell answering the door seeing Darcy, Howard and Linda letting them in.

"Shabbat shalom guys. Glad you made it and Shocket was concerned Linda wasn't coming." Rocket said.

Linda hugged Shocket as Darcy put her in the playoen and made Emily smirk as her twin-sis had been quiet guessing Linda almost not coming had bothered her but now Linda was here, things were okay along with it being Shabbat

"I can't gelieve this day has come. Our lil birdie's first day of school and she's probably up or jumping on her bed in excitement." Darcy heard Howard say. It was two and a half years later and Linda had turned three and her third birthday had been fun plus Shocket had been her guest because she didn't have other friends so excited for her first day of preschool knowing she and Shocket would be in Rocket's dad's class and Rocket Senior was an awesome teacher getting up seeing Linda in a pink top with black trousers making Darcy and Howard chuckle, happy she'd dressed herself meaning what they were teaching her involving life skills was working.

"Good morning honey, and see somebody's ready for her first day. Shocket's probably excited too." Darcy told her as Linda nodded leaving her mom and dad's room knowing they had to get ready along with make breakfast sitting at the table seeing her dad up making pancakes seeing Darcy join him kissing him making Linda giggle, knowing her mom and dad loved each other.

"We made lunch last night, after you went to bed." Howard told Linda asking about this.

"That's good, and Aunt Nebula and you were probably talking." she told them while eating.

They then heard the doorbell seeing it was Nebula and Rocket with Emily and Shocket making Linda excitedly hug Shocket making her grin along with Emily seeing Linda grab her backpack joining them seeing her parents going with them. There was no way Darcy and Howard were missing this, their lil birdie's first day of school which was something they'd been very excited about.

They were impressed arriving at Xaviers heading to the preschool room seeing other parents looking anxious compared to them and their kids only Rocket was very confused by their judgey looks as his big, fluffy armour wearing dad was very gentle yet wise and the best preschool teacher knowibg those parents had nothing to worry about seeing Shocket and Emily hug their grandpa noticing some parents leavibg with their kits making Rocket Senior sad despite Rocket's encouragment not to worry about judgey parents..

"It's okay, as they are snooty parents." Rocket reassured his dad. "Thanks buddy." he whispered before leading his lil furbeans into the classroom showibg them around with Linda and Shocket but Emily noticed Shocket was quiet despite Linda being by her side sitting on the rug with the other kits listening to Poppa Marshmallow talking to them introducing himself allowing them to call him Marshmallow making them giggle along with Linda and Shocket making them curious after putting their stuff in their cubbies.

"This is awesome, and it's only our first day." Linda whispered to Shocket.

"Yep, and he's giving us… pillows. I'm confused." Shocket whispered.

"We're gonna turn them into feeling pillows, which you can hug when sad, or need comfort but you can't hit anybody with them, when angry." Rocket Senior said to them. He told them they could draw anything they wanted on them making the class run to their tables. Linda had drawn her with her mom and dad only Shocket smiled at this but the markers were hovering out of the pot on Linda's side of their desk knowing things like this happened a lot with her bestie.

"Oopsie, sorry Shocket. My powers came out didn't they." Linda asked blushing.

"It's okay Linda, we're used to these things happening but it was funny." Shocket told her. Linda smiled as she cleaned up her mess like her parents taught her to when she made a mess either with by normal means or her powers seeing Shocket's pillow which had her, Emily, their parents and Linda which made the lil duckling surprised but touched by it alomg with Poppa Marshmallow when he saw Shocket's. "I love it sweetie and know today's overwhelming since like the other kits, Emmy and Linda adjusted easy. It's fine you take your time." he whispered into her furry ear which eased Shocket's anxiety a lil.

"Thanks Grandpa Marshmallow." she whispered back seeing him go check on the other kits.

"Feeling better, you've been quiet all morning. But makijg the pillow is helping." Linda said.

"It's time to go pick our lil birdie up. Let's hope she had a good first day." Darcy told Howard.

"Yeah and if she didn't, we can make her feel better like Nebula and Rocket with Emily and Shocket." Howard replied.

They were leaving the house, but arrived at school with the other parents seeing Rocket Senior at the open door of the preschool room but Linda ran up to her parents relieving Darcyvand Howard their lil birdie had a good first day which Nebula and Rocket saw that Emily looked like she had a good first day only Shocket was quiet which bothered Rocket as they went home and at home, Emily was showing them her feelings pillow and how they worked which they got seeing Shocket hugging hers but also Quacker her stuffed duck making Nebula and Rocket sense, Shocket had a hard day.

"We should leave her be, as she found it hard, which Grandpa Marshmallow noticed." Emily said.

"What the heck, Shocket you okay. What happened." Linda heard Rocket Senior say.

It'd been a typical day or mornibg at preschool, plus with it being an nice day, the kits had outside time along with playing with trikes and other toys so Linda and Shocket had been playing The Groubd Is Lava an outdoor version of a certain popular game when another kit had pulled Shocket's mohawk without her permission which had surprised Linda knowing from her parents that wasn't okay noticing an upset expression on Shocket's face running inside so Rocket Senior was curious.

"One of the boys pulled Shocket's Mohawk, while we were playing which isn't okay." Linda said.

"Yep he crossed a boundary, but we'll talk about that after playtime. Shocket ran inside." he said.

The other kits were confused aboht why it was a big deal making Linda scowl going inside finding Shocket in her cubby curled up in a ball making her get it. "Is it okay to hug you." she asked making the female-kit confused nodding.

"I didn't want to weird you out , after what Jett did to Hawky. My mom and dad taught me about boundaries." Linda said seeing a confused look on Shocket's face making Linda guess Poppa Marshmallow could explain to her

"But why did Jett pull Hawky. Did I do something wrong to make him do that." Shocket mumbled.

"I have no clue. Maybe you should go ask him." Linda told her making her gulp.

She only really hung out around Linda at school so hadn't maxe friends with the other kits in class, so the idea of talking to Jett made her nervous, which Linda sensed. "I'll come with you, so it won't be weird and if he does it again, you have a witness." she said making Shocket nod approaching Jett making him surprised.

"I-I just wanna know why the heck you pulled my Mohawk. Did you think it was funny." Shocket said.

"No, your hair's the coolest in class, I just wanted to touch it. I didn't know it was bad." Jett said.

"He'sgot a point Shocket. You do have awesome hair but it wasn't okay for Jett to touch without asking." Linda said.

She, Linda and the other kits heard it was snack time which made things calm down, plus Shocket was curiousabout the science project they would do making Linda grin.

"I'm sorry Jet pulled your Mohawk, which wasn't fun, huh." Emily and Shocket heard Rocket say.

"Yeah it sucked but Grandpa Marshmallow explained about boundaries." Shocket told him.

"Guess what you two." Rocket asked them. They were home and having an afternoon snack plus Poppa Marshmallow had told him aboht what had happened with Shocket at school and had asked for his help with the science project.

"You're gonna teach us to drive. Or no more vegetables ever, right." Shocket guessed making Emily smirk at these guesses and their dad chuckle.   “If I let you two not eat vegetables, mommy would kill me plus three year olds can’t learn to drive until they’re much older.” Rocket told them making Shocket sigh as she’d had a bad day.

"Daddy's here, but why." Shocket said making Rocket chuckle as she and Emily hugged his legs.

It was a few days later at school and after playtime, the class were surprised seeing Emily and Shocket's dad here making Poppa Marshmallow chuckle. "Mr Marshmallow, can grownups go to school." Linda asked raising her feathery hand making him chuckle appreciating she'd raised her hand instead of just blurting out her question. "No honey but Rocket is helping with our science project about volcanoes." he said making Shocket excitable.

"Baba's here and it involves volcanoes. Best day of preschool ever." she blurted out making Linda smirk.

"Shocket honey, inside voice, we're not outside anymore. But love you're excited." Rocket Senior told her. She smirked as she and Linda were working on their volcano and making progress plus she'd brought something to make it a realistic volcano when it erupted or to make it erupt, cherry bombs making Linda guess it was okay making Rocket wonder, what was going on.

The class was surprised hearing a mild boon as Linda and Shocket's volcano erupted setting off the fire alarms as they went outside but going back inside, Rocket smelt something from the volcano, seeing a cherry bomb making him sigh pulling his dad aside showing him stunning him knowing Linda had no part in this, Shocket howrver was in trouble

"How about we play outside for a bit, calm down after that." Rocket Senior said making the class excited running outside except Shocket. She would have indoor recess for a week as a punishment and her dad explained that he wanted her to learn from her mistake because her idea could have hurt somebody making her ask, if they were still doing the project.

"Yep, but maybe you should just sit it out. You still get credit but how you did it was dangerous." Rocket Senior told her.

After everybody came inside, Rocket Senior was explaining the plan, but Linda saw Shocket in the story area as her uncle explained it was much safer if Shocket wasn't doing it. She hoped her uncle would find a way to cheer Shocket up later noticing he kept looking in Shocket'sdirextion.

"I think what Shocket did was funny and demonstrating how a volcano works. Besides you and your dad were there to make sure nobody got hurt only maybe Shocket did." Rocket heard Nebula say. It was now afternoon and he'd told Nebula what had happened only he was confused, how was Shocket hurt making Nebula facepalm as right now, Emily and Shocket were playing in the living room only he noticed Shocket had been quiet since they'd gotten home which had bothered him.

"What happened might've hurt her feelings, Rocket. We should give her space." Nebula told him.

"Alright then. Let's hope sh3 cools down." Nebula told him making him nod. At dinner, Emily was talking a lot but Shocket was quiet despite being picky about veggies as normal making Rocket sigh at this seeing her excuse herself as Nebula got it.

Chapter Text

"Holy crutack, it snowed, this is awesome. Meaning no school." Emily heard Shocket blurt out excited.

It was a few days after the volcano project and Rocket had talked to Shocket about that, so things were good again so after waking up and seeing snow made the purple-mohawked excited plus was getting dressed in her snow clothes just as Rocket was coming to wake her and Emily telling them school wasn't happening making Shocket pumped running to the kitchen so she could have breakfast and then go outside to play in the snow hoping Linda could come out and play. "We're gonna have so much fun in the snow like a snowball fight, sledding down hills among other things. Then we're gonna have hot cocoa." she declared making Rocket chuckle at her plans handing her a napkin as despite being excited, she was making a mess.

"Oops sorry pops just excited, you know." Shocket told him.

"It's fine kiddo. Snow days are special so get it." Rocket said. Nebula grinned as she entered the kitchen seeing the snow knowing that her and Rocket's kits would be playing a lot and when they came back inside, they were having quiet time which Shocket dreaded especially when she had the wiggles so sighed seeing both kits run outside, hearing Linda ring the doorbell.

A while later, Emily, Linda and Shocket were sledding down a pretty big hill having a blast going fast, landing in a snowbank making Linda and Shocket giggle only Emily was shivering making Shocket frown hearing Emily say they needed to go home. "If we go home, then we have to have quiet time which I hate." Shocket said making Linda get it.

"Maybe after all this snow fun, maybe a lil quiet time is a good thing." Linda told her.

"Okay but just a lil quiet time." Shocket said as they went home making Nebula and Rocket relieved, as they'd made soup for lunch which would warm their kits up noticing they were needing it hearing Shocket telling them what they'd been doing all morning. "Okay honey plus after lunch, you guys might need either a nap or quiet time after an active morning." Rocket told them making Emily like that plan.

After lunch, Shocket was feeling calm along with her belly being warm and full yawning, surprising Emily seeing her sister going to their room. She was tucking herself and Quacker into her bed across the room from Emily's falling asleep

"Things are quiet, too quiet which is strange. Emmy's in the living room doing quiet time but we haven't seen Shocket since they got home." Rocket heard Nebula say. Rocket then ran upstairs to Emily and Shocket's room opening the door but relaxed seeing Shocket sleeping with Quacker kissing her furry head leaving the room. He told Nebula that Shocket was sleeping impressing her and Emily guessing Shocket had been tired after all that snow play and not liking quiet time, she'd decided to have an nap.

"We should let her sleep, or she'll be cranky." Rocket told them.

After a bit, Shocket began to stir and tucked Quacker in going over to her Lego table playing and creating stories as Herbert had introduced her to Lego so it was a creative outlet for her making Emily relieved she was awake.   “Mommy anddaddy were surprised you took a nap.” Emily told her making Shocket shrug her shoulders as she was playing

It was now Feburary meaning Valentine's Day was approaching, making Poppa Marshmallow's preschool class excited asJing if there was going to be a party making their big, fluffy teacher nervous because he didn't want any of his furbeans feeling left out, if nobody gave them a Valentine taking a deep-breath.

"I'm thinking about it, guys. Don't worry." he said. But then somebody walked in with flowers for him making his furry cheeks go pink reading the tag. "Dang it Logan." he muttered despite his class getting excited as Shocket knew her grandpa and Logan were a thing which her dad had explained

"Okay everybody calm down. It's a gift from a friend." he said calming things down.

During recess, he was planning the party but sent out an email to the parents, exlaning about the party, that nobody was to be left out giving Valentines and he'd tell his lil furbeans, when they came back inside feeling better about this seeing the kits come inside so was telling them making them excited!, only Shocket was nervous about this because she'd gotten Linda a special valentine using her her saved up allowance, which had impressed both Nebula and Rocket she'd did this.

"Plus our folks are having a party on Valentine's night. Shocket, you can just give it to Linda then." Emily whispered.

"Good thinking, Emmy, as I don't wanna upset anybody, if Lindagot aspecial Valentine." Shocket told her. This thought soothed her anxiety sensing Linda was feeling the same guessing she had a special Valentine for Shocket so was liking Emily's idea.

It was Valentine's morning as Emily and Shocket woke up smelling pancakes getting up, going downstairs seeing their dad had made heart shaped pancakes making Shocket smile, her furry cheeks going pink making Rocket chuckle because he and Nebula found her reaction sweet. After breakfast and getting dressed, along with getting the Valentine cards they'd picked out at the store were leaving with Nebula.

At school, Emily hoticed both Linda and Shocket were quiet, as they were putting their things away, making Rocket Senior smile seeing things would go well hearing them excited, they were starting the day with an art project using his big paws to signal calm. "We're gonna make mailboxes, to store our Valentines in, when we give them out." he told them.

"That's great. Let's go." Shocket said getting up from the rug as Linda followed suit to their table making Emily grin, at her twin-sister's energy seeing her focused along with Linda which surprised her while she was making hers.

After that, they were handing out Valentines but Linda andShocket told each other their special Valentines later, at the party making Shocket get it. She couldn't wait for the party later, guessing her and Emily's parents were getting things ready for the party plus Poppa Marshmallow was taking them home as he and Logan were coming to the party

After school, Emily and Shocket were home, showing their parents the Valentines making Nebula and Rocket delighted telling them, to go get ready for the party. Shocket was very excited getting ready, grabbing the gift bag that was for Linda making Emily smile knowing this would be fun.
