“DIANA!!!!!”
With Diana turning around she sees it’s Akko screaming and running towards her at full speed.
Akko skids to a stop next to her in the hall. Diana has never once understood why she has such a need to be so hasty. But that is just one of her attributes that are unexplainable but endearing.

“SO!!!!” Akko points at Diana while exclaiming “What you doing over the holidays????”

“You have something else you want to ask of me, haven’t you?” Diana replied vaguely smug

“ehhh, yeah… eh” Akko scratched the back of her head

“Then, what is it?” Diana asked, barely able to hide how much of said endearment poured over her.

“Go to Japan with me over the break!!!! Please it will be fun!!!! I can show all of the cool places there and all of my fav places that I think are really cool!!! Also my parents have been chewing my ear off about getting to know this Diana girl. Like when are we getting to see this girlfriend of your and when? Is she coming any time soon? Will she visit? What is she like? Like a bunch of question, like if questions were water they would be enough to fill an entire water tower. Like that much!!! Also I was already planning go there for a long time, but I thought it would be nice to take you along. Like I have already seen your home, wouldn’t it be fair if you also got to see mine? I mean that would be pretty cool, ain’t it? Also I love you!!! And I love spend time with you, so it’s kinda a win, win situation. Also I need to introduce you to takoyaki, like actual takoyaki. Not the cheap knockoff that’s here. Also I haven’t seen my friends there for a while, so it’ll be nice to see them. And!! It’ll be nice to introduce you to them!! They’ll probably like….”

The sound that interrupted her was of Diana’s soft laughter. She could no longer hide the endearment that overflowed in her heart.

“Yes, Akko. That would be lovely. I would love to go to Japan with you. What you mentioned sound swell”
What ever Akko has in store for her will surely bring much more joy than having to deal with the tension that comes with aunt Daryl's dinners.

If it was anything Akko loved hear more it was hearing Diana laugh. It was highly rare, maybe not as rare as before, but still rare. Akko returns her smile with one of her own.

“Great!!!”

They met eyes, both filled with mirth.

“I love you” Akko grinned

“Oh heaven’s” Diana broke the eye contact, tucking her head into Akko’s shoulder. “I can never get how you’re able to say it so easily” Diana murmured

“I dunno. It’s just much easier to say it in english I guess. I don’t think I have the guts to say it in japanese tho. Not that it means any less, it’s just different.”

“I can get that” with Diana circling her arms around Akko’s waist. Akko does the same on her end.

And that’s how she ended up retelling what happened to Lotte and Sucy while packing her bags.

“So yeah, the hug was very nice tho. Hugs from Diana are always nice”

“Didn’t need to know that” Sucy muttered, rolling her eyes

“Well, I can get that” Lotte interrupted by going back to the topic beforehand. “I don’t think I could say I love you to someone in finnish either. I don’t know” She rested her chin in her hand “It just feels so much more intimate that way. Something you only can say after you been with each other for a looong time”

”Yeah, same.” Akko related

Sucy snickered “As if I would ever say it to any person. But I do say it to my mushrooms. They deserve it”

It was Akko that rolled her eyes this time “Of course you would…” and continued packing

“What are you guys talking about?”

Turning around Akko saw that Amanda apparently managed to appear in the five seconds she had her back turned. What came out of her mouth sounded like a rooster getting stepped on.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Sucy demanded

“Not important. Anyways… What were y'all talking about?” Amanda continued

“Oh yeah, we were talking about how saying I love you in english is much easier than in our native language” Lotte answered

“I love you is only something my mom tells me. Like the only place it’s really thrown around like in english is like in those drama series my mom likes to watch” Jasminka says as she also appears in the doorway.

“What the fuck!!!!????!!!” Akko wheezed again.

“I haven’t notice anything like that” Amanda grumbled

“No shit, you monolingual idiot” Sucy sent back

“HEY!!! I know some words in spanish!! DO NOT TEST ME!!!” Amanda bantered

“Of course we won’t. You wouldn’t know shit anyways”

“Why did we even get to this topic?” Constance’s robot said out loud

“Well, I was talking about it to Diana when I told her that” Akko answered

“Wait. Does she still turn redder than a tomato when you do that? Seriously, I thought she would be over it by now”

“I despise how you say tomato” Hannah somehow butted in with Barbara in tow.

“YOU’RE FUCKING HERE TOO??” Akko screams

“I say it how it’s supposed to be said. I’m sorry but I’m not fucking saying tomahtoe” Amanda completely ignores Akko’s outburst

“Now you’re just making shit up. I do not sound like that. Also, at least it’s better than what ever comes out of your mouth.”

Akko who knows they will just continue on tries once more to get everyone’s attention.
“OK!! EVERYBODY SHUT UP!! First of all!! I like seeing her that red!! She’s my girlfriend, I like seeing her blush!! And second!! What is everyone doing here, in my room?”

“Our room” Sucy butts in

“Yeah, yeah” Akko flaps her hands

“Literally just bored” Amanda says “Wanted to be annoying. It’s always fun being annoying”

“We just wanted to fuck with you” Hannah adds
“We were both like ‘ah, it’s our designated fuck with Akko time now’. So now here we are” Barbara adds

“Yeah… Did you have anything planned for the break? I can see you’re already packing” Hannah asks

“Yep!! Me and Diana are going to Japan together!!!!!! YAY!!!!”

What happened afterwards was choir of “Fuck yeah!!”, “YOOO!!” and just general excitement from the friends.

“That’s actually really nice, Akko” Hannah smiled “That’s like way better than her having to go back to her aunt, so I’m sure you already saved her holidays!! Ugh, I wish I had that good of an excuse not to go to my family dinners”
Barbara nodded in agreement to her words

“Bring me back the Amanita Ibotengutake from there. With Diana with you I can at least make sure you won’t eat it” Sucy said with a grin on her face

“Why would I eat it? But sure” Akko said back

“That’s legit so fucking cool for you. Did you decide just now?” Amanda asks

“I mean, yeah. My parents have been constantly on about them meeting the oh so mysterious Diana, so I thought it was a good idea. Also I get to spend more time with her so it’s a win, win” Akko answers

Hearing this results in Amanda’s face growing into a shit eating grin as she crosses her arms. “Ohhhh!!! Are you introducing her to your parents? How forward!”

“Oh, shut up!!!! It’s not like that. Get that disgusting grin off your face!!!” Akko squeaks

“Ohhh, first you’re gonna introduce her to your parents, what’s next? Are gonna get engaged then? Maybe plan your wedding? A spring wedding is always nice!! Huh?”

With her face burning a brighter red than a stove Akko yells “SHUT UP!!!! YOU’RE BEING STUPID RIGHT NOW!!! SHUT THE HELL YOUR MOUTH!!!” Grabbing Amanda by the shirt and shaking her

“Not that I disagree about it, because we all know it. But what should Amanda shut up about?”
And speak of the devil she will appear. Except it wasn’t really the devil, it was her girlfriend who she loved dearly. She just didn’t want to her to be her in this exact moment. Not when Amanda was being this stupid.

“Uh…” was all that came out of Akko’s mouth as she let go of the shirt she had been shaking

“Full house bingo!” exclaimed Constance’s robot

“Oh!! YEAH!! AS I WAS SAYING BEFORE!!! A SPRING…” before she could go any further their mouth was blocked by Akko’s hands desperately trying to stop what ever would come out

“We were just teasing her about bringing you to Japan. And if it’s there’s anything that Amanda loves it’s committing to the bit. At two hundred procent. So that’s why she’s like that” Hannah told to Diana

“Also…” Sucy started

“DO NOT!!!” Akko pointed at her “I swear if you start I will not get you that mushroom or what ever that thing was”

Sucy rolled her eyes “Sure”

Eyeing around the room for anything else Diana said “Okay, Alright. What’s all this then?”

That caused Amanda to immediately burst into laughter and say “Can you at least not sound like such a walking stereotype??”

“That’s rich of you to say” Diana springs back

“Rather be a dyke than fucking british!! At least Miku likes me” barely holding herself up from laughter

“Those two can coexist you know?”

“Do you think Miku would be conflicted? Do you think that you being a dyke pays the for the crime of being british?”

“No. The only pounds she needs is her pounding your mom” Sucy says with a complete deadpan face
At this point Amanda falls to the floor in laughter while Constance’s robot plays Hatsune Miku.

Then Lotte putts her hand on her thighs as she stands up then put them together. Like she’s a hostess at a get together and she’s trying to non verbally say that she’s done for the night and everyone should leave.
“As much as I would love your banter, Akko needs to continue packing and I’m sure you all have something important you have to do tomorrow. I don’t want you guys to lose any sleep over this” she said with gentle tone and small smile

“Well, she pulled out the customer service voice it’s time to go” Amanda said standing up

“Yeah! I need to finish packing, Lotte needs her reading time and Sucy needs her beauty sleep. You know how cranky she gets if she doesn’t” Akko exclaims

“I don’t need beauty sleep. My mushrooms do. And you’re bothering them” Sucy griped

“Welp, see ya!” as Amanda and the rest of her team walked out the door.

“Getting some sleep does sound rather inviting right now, doesn’t it Hannah?” Barbara stood up and turned to Hannah

“Yeah, or like a bath. That also sounds very nice” Hannah answered

“Yeah. Good night everyone” Barbara said as both of them left

While Diana had left the room she was still standing in the hallway.

Akko took the opportunity to walk up to her closing the door behind her. Seeing her, Diana turned to her, eyes filled with unquestionable warmth. Akko smiled.
“Yeah… uh…“ She scratched the back of her neck “Eh, I wanted to tell you a bit more about the trip. My parent will pick us up at the airport so you don’t have to worry about how to get anywhere. Just so you know. Also pick something comfortable to wear, cuz we are going to flying for a really long time. Like 12 hours plus kind of time. And also I just wanted to say how excited I am that your coming with me. I can’t wait to show you around there. It’s gonna be so fun!!! Like all of the like cool and cozy places I know. Other places that I just general want you to see or like trying a bunch of delicious food we’re gonna eat. My mom makes really great fish. So you’ll probably try some of that, and…” The more she talked the wider her smile became. Diana felt all of the joy that flowed through her, and it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Her smile being infectious a wide smile spread out on Diana’s face too.

That had made Akko pause for it was one of those rare genuine smiles that she so rarely got to see of her girlfriend. Her smile showing teeth and crooked. But hey. Since when has Akko ever complained about things not being straight. If she could put this smile in a pickle jar and preserve it forever she would. But since she can’t she’ll just try to make Diana show it more. However it is.

She notices that Diana looks around almost as if to check if they’re alone or not. Seeing as it is late in the evening and everyone is in their rooms, they are. This makes her meet Akko’s eyes again with that sweet smile still on her face.

The next thing Akko notices is Diana raising her hand and putting it on Akko’s cheek.
Then she lays and ever so gentle kiss on Akko’s temple. Turning back to face her and say “Good night Akko, sweet dreams” in her entrancing accent
Over come with emotions Akko does not know what to do. So she screams!!
Immediately clutching her hand to where she had been kissed

“WHAT WAS THAT????”

HOW DARE SHE BE THAT SMOOTH!!!! Akko thinks

“GIVE MY POOR HEART A BREAK!!!!” comes out as she starts laughing and hugs her girlfriend

Diana joins in on her laughter and the hug before she says “I could say the same to you. With how inherently endearing you are”

Both of them laugh again

“It is quite funny how you tease me over being so free with your words but when I do this you react the same as I do” Diana points out

“IT’S DIFFERENT!!! ONE IS EASY AND ONE IS NOT!!!” Akko protests

With those words she recognized a challenge. So Diana kissed Akko on her forehead, underneath her bangs.

To Akko’s yelp Diana says “Well, this one is easy for me!” her smile growing into a grin

“THAT’S NOT FAIR!!! HMPH!! Well two can play that game!!”

She took Diana’s head in her hands, looked her in the eyes and said “I love you”

With her face growing hotter Diana say “Well then” and kisses her in between her brows.

“I love you!” Akko says again

“Hmph” Diana kisses her nose while both of their smiles growing even bigger

“I love you!!!”

This time Diana lowers her head and kisses her cheek

“I LOVE YOU!!!” Akko screams with her face redder than her belt

Diana leans in again, this time to her lips…

But she’s interrupted by someone knocking on the door behind them and Sucy’s monotone voice going
“Are you guys done making out? Some people actually need to shower, which includes having to go through the hallway. Or did you two forget that?”

Both of the pair shriek, immediately letting go of each other.
“Sucy!!! What the f… Shut up!!” Akko squawks

After that she storms into her room. Opening the door to glare at Sucy who is not at all bothered by it. She just rolls her eyes and leaves the room muttering something about yucky idiots.

With that Akko turns around to see Diana still standing there frozen. They make eye contact and she snaps out of it.
Both of their eyes soften then Akko says
“Good night Diana” in the softest voice
“Good night Akko” Diana replies matching her tone

Diana turns on her heal as Akko closes the door.

“Well aren’t you two sweeter than a puff pastry? It’s quite adorable! It’s almost like in volume 16 chapter 7 where…” Lotte starts

“Oh no, not you too!”Akko says as she faceplants in her bed.

It was early morning on the day of their departure. Or as Akko would call it, late night. She did not have the energy to go in anything but sweatpants and a hoodie. Plus she had packed all of her clothes and did not want to bother with it at all.

Which is why it surprised her when Diana came up to her wearing a suit. Similar to what she wore when Akko visited her home but like a tad bit fancier? She had no clue, so what came out of her mouth was:
“Why are you wearing that?”

Then she continued “I told you to wear something comfortable. But here you are wearing that! We are gonna be traveling for like twelve hours plus, why that?” while gesticulating with her arms

Diana’s face went through several different expression before saying “Well, you said that we were going to meet your parent at the airport. I wish to make a good impression”

Akko balked as she said “Diana! It’s not like my parents would give a flying fuck what you wear. The fact that you’re there is what matters. Besides, you being comfortable is wayyyyy more important that what someone thinks!!!”

Diana starts fidgeting as both of them sit down in the lounge. Apparently that exist, and you can get like free tea there.

“Well… What if I told you I’m the most comfortable in suits. I mean this one was tailor-made for me specifically, so it’s quite comfortable”

“Oh… I guess I didn’t think of it that way”

With the speakers announcing departures. Akko takes up the tickets to look at the denature gate for their plane. She can feel Diana leaning over to look over at the tickets. She can also feel Diana freeze when she sees economy written on the ticket. Turning her head to meet Diana’s eyes she can see the expression of extreme discomfort. So Akko says
“You can ask”

“Can I please upgrade the ticket?” Diana says pleadingly

“Sure, but not first class. That would feels too stuffy. And I don’t want that”

“Understandable. Business class it is”

“Yeah”

After that the trip went smoothly. With Akko sleeping nearly the entire 12 hours there. Only times she would not be was when Diana would wake her for their meals or when the plane landed.
Akko could barely contain her excitement. She was nearly home!! She just had to get out of this plane and she would see her parents again!!!
Diana could clearly notice it and asked
“You really are excited, huh?”

The only thing Akko could say in this moment was “Yippie!!” as she started to pack up her stuff.

And lo and behold they got out of there in record speed.

Immediately after getting their luggage the only thing stopping Akko from full on sprinting was that Diana was holding her hand.

But finally when she saw the sight of her parents she threw herself into their arms.

Diana watched on from behind. It was sweet to see them all so excited to see each other again. It was clear that they truly cared for each other. With them all hugging tightly. You could see them tearing up out of glee. It was truly a beautiful sight. Diana was truly filled with joy that Akko got to have this. It reminded her that time she did so with her own mother how ever long ago that was. It was joy all around.

With that the Kagari family let go of each other and all turned to Diana. Akko walked to join Diana side again to introduce her.

“Well, this” putting her hands on Diana’s shoulders “Is my girlfriend Diana Cavendish! She’s real! And she’s here!” turning to face Diana “Diana! these are my parents” Pointing to them

Bowing her head Diana said “Pleasure to meet you both, it is an honor” her voice nervous

Both of elder Kagari’s looked at her and started laughing slightly.
“I apologize. We didn’t mean to laugh. You’re just very earnest. We didn’t expect you to show up in suit and be so formal” Akko’s father spoke

“If I hadn’t known better I would’ve thought you’re here to propose with that suit!” Akko’s mother laughed

“Yeah, you look like your going to meet an important client rather than meeting us” the father added

With her face becoming red Diana answered “Well, I wanted to make good impression. It’s important. Any other way would be disrespectful”

“And you did. It’s sweet that you made the effort” the older man replied while his wife nodded “Alright, let’s get going shall we?”
Everyone agreed while they started walking out

Being in a car this small was not something Diana was used to. She was used to ample leg room plenty space between the front and back seats. But it was also the first time she had an excuse to lean in closely to Akko in order to listen to her parents talking. Their knees touching proved to make this car ride more enjoyable than any other one she has taken.
“Diana do you want to eat lunch? I think I can make something for both of you if you want to?” her mother asked
“Yes, it would be lovely to eat anything you prepared. Thank you”

This would prove to be a really joysome adventure. Diana couldn’t imagine to want to be anywhere but here with Akko pressed against her and the parents chatting away happily while beautiful scenery flows past the window. This will truly be exciting.
