Chapter 1: Suprise!
Chapter Text
Izuku Midoriya awoke with the typical pain he felt throughout his body, he wasn't quite sure why he always woke up in pain but he elected to ignore it like every other issue in his life. As he got ready for school, his mother, Inko Midoriya, called him to the kitchen to give him his breakfast.
He thanked her, trying to push down the reasonable unreasonable amount of anger he feels in his body whenever he is around her. After berating himself for being resentful about the past, he sets off for his last first day of Aldera.
Izuku debated skipping school, it's not like anyone would be doing anything important as it's the first day but relents, his teachers would only give him more trouble if he missed the introductory day and needed help catching up.
While walking up to the gates of the building he was forced had the privilege of calling school, Katsuki Bakugo began yelling his nickname.
"DEEEEKKKUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!"
Izuku immediately regretted his decision to go to school. But had no chance to linger on this regret as the rapid crescendo of explosions was his queue to start bolting it into the school.
Izuku managed to make it to the hallway before Katsuki caught up to him. This doesn't sound like a good accomplishment, but it is. Katsuki wouldn't hurt him unless they were in a classroom or a bathroom as those were the only places without security cameras. Not that Izuku thinks anyone would check the cameras or care for that matter but Katsuki refused to take that risk in case it prevented him from going to UA and becoming a hero.
Oh yeah, he has to deal with his piece of shit best friend turned even bigger peice of shit bully.
"You thought you could run from me!?!? You're so pathetic I wouldn't be suprised if running away like a little bunny was your quirk!!!" Katsuki taunted while walking up behind the boy.
Before Izuku could begin to try and understand whatever that meant, Katsuki put his hand on Izuku's shoulder, using just enough of his quirk to burn through his uniform and still not be noticed by the cameras. Izuku tensed, trying to figure out what response would get Katsuki to leave him alone. Maybe if Izuku stayed quiet he would get bored and walk off? No he'd probably just say something like "YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME YOU PEICE OF SHIT? IS THAT WHY YOU WON'T RESPOND?". Perhaps if Izuku just apologized and shrunk in on himself more Katsuki would settle with calling him pathetic and walking away. Or maybe, if he's really lucky, a hole will open up in the Earth and swallow him so he never has to deal with anything ever again. That would be really nice. Unfortunately, Izuku took too long with his mental debate and hole in ground fantasies because next thing he knew he was thrown into a locker and being yelled at yet again.
"YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME YOU PEICE OF SHIT? IS THAT WHY YOU WON'T RESPOND?" Well would you look at that, Izuku was right about something!
At this point Katsuki had Izuku in a chokehold and was rapidly decreasing the amount of airflow to, well, anywhere in his body. All Izuku could do was look at his bully and make some weird strangled noise.
Thankfully the first bell rang, meaning Katsuki, as much shit as he likes to talk, goes to class because being late is only slightly better than being quirkless. Or atleast that's what Izuku thinks he said while he walked away.
Katsuki was wrong about Izuku being quirkless by the way. He has a quirk, he just never got it registered. He was a late bloomer, not getting his quirk until his second year of Aldera.
Flashback
A 13 year old Izuku was in his room, his back killing him. He was angry. Angry at the world, angry at his dad for moving in with his new girlfriend and her kids, angry at his mom and her peice of shit house, angry at himself for not being good enough to deserve his dad or a clean house.
Suddenly there's a light above his head. He reaches for the unknown object only to find what feels like a ring. When he touches it, it's cool. It feels nice. Izuku attempts to pull at it but it only moves a little before bouncing back into its previous position.
He lazily gets up and looks to where he thought he felt the strange glowing ring. It's not there. He reaches for it around the same area above his head. It's floating above him. What the hell? Izuku gets up to go look in the bathroom mirror.
"What. the. fuck?" Izuku says, s lightly breathless.
The mysterious floating, glowing, ring, is a halo and on his back are the most gorgeous white wings he's ever seen.
He's an ANGEL!?!?!!?
Chapter 2: Tired of all the bullshit
Notes:
I still have no clue what I'm doing :'). I have a general idea for a story (obviously) but idk how to put an idea for a story into words on a page, so bear with me lol. Thankyou for reading!!!
Chapter Text
Yeah. That was a hot mess. Izuku had to do so much experimenting to try and figure out what his quirk could do. One of the very first things he discovered was that he could hide his halo and wings on command; the only thing that stayed was the slight glow in his eyes. There's just one issue. Izuku has no fucking clue how or why his quirk formed. He suspects it might have something to do with the way he was feeling before it appeared but can't narrow down the exact details. There's been evidence to suggest that sometimes quirks will manifest as an adaptation to one's external environment, but Izuku is well aware that that is not what happened to him—he wasn't in a life-or-death situation when his quirk appeared. Annoyingly, there hasn't been enough research to determine whether or not mental trauma will force a quirk to form. Although, if this could happen, Izuku wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened to him. It's not like he was feeling happy when his wings appeared. He still isn't sure how becoming an angel would've been an adaptation to his mental state, though. Sure, it is a great quirk and everything, but it's not like the quirk itself was a result of his anger. At least that's what he thinks.
"Midoriya."
Oh fuck, he was still in class.
"Are you paying attention?" The teacher didn't seem like he actually gave a shit, but like everyone else, he took every opportunity to bully the "quirkless" kid.
"Sorry, sir, I was just distracted." The teacher rolled his eyes and made some sort of comment about 'quirkless nulls being too stupid to pay attention' before continuing on with his lesson.
Instead of paying attention to the algebra on the board, Izuku opened his hero notebook.
Name: _________
Quirk: Angel
Specifications: User has angel wings and a halo.
Abilities: Can hide wings/halo at any given moment. Can use wings to fly. Halo and eyes give off a soft glow.
There's a big gap left after the Abilities section, leaving space for Izuku to add more as he learns. On the page next to that, there's space for theories on what his quirk could do and why it formed.
Izuku began writing in the notebook, trying to come up with more theories on why his quirk manifested. Perhaps his quirk formed because angels are typically righteous and good, so to balance out his anger, he became one?
Yeah, he had no fucking clue.
Maybe it's an energy-based quirk, and his anger had been the only time he had the energy for it to form? He supposed that made some sense; his life has been pretty shit so far, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was just too out of it for a quirk to form.
Man, wasn't he just a bundle of joy?
Eventually the bell rang, taking Izuku out of his trance. He SWORE it was just 11:30; how is it already 2:30? Despite this conundrum, Izuku began packing up as quickly as possible in an attempt to avoid another confrontation with Katsuki. It did not work.
"You still have the stupid hero notebooks, nerd?" Katsuki interrogated, picking the book up and flipping through it.
You know, you'd almost think with all these nicknames that Katsuki liked Izuku. Not that Izuku would ever say this. He would rather die than go out with Katsuki.
"C'mon, Kacchan, give it back!!" Izuku pleaded
"You know you're never gonna be a hero, right? The quirkless are too weak and fragile" Katsuki sneered back while throwing his now burnt notebook out the window.
Now Izuku isn't quite sure what happened next. Maybe someone took over his body, took pity on him, and decided to stick up for him. Maybe he was influenced by a quirk that caused him to become impulsive. Maybe he was possessed by a demon. Maybe he was tired of Katsuki's bullshit and finally lost the last of his resolve. Maybe Izuku Midoriya punched Katsuki Bakugo square in the face, knocking him out cold.
