Chapter 1: SHATTERED
Chapter Text
"Sirius...!!!"
Harry woke up yet another time screaming his godfather's name, turning his throat hoarse. It was the summer after his wretched fifth year, and the nightmares had already destroyed half of him.
He was at the Dursleys just like every other year, and just like every other year, he didn't know until when he could hold out. Cedric's death had traumatized him, but Sirius's death crippled him. In all these years, he was sad while at the Dursleys and always wished for someone to whisk him away. But right now, he felt broken, in a way that his body told him that he would never feel whole again. It was so painful that he automatically occluded his mind most of the time unknowingly. His emotions were already haywire, and he really could not feel the need to go one like this anymore. He desperatedy needed a break. He just wanted to sleep off and never wake up again. The dark thoughts that had always been at a bay were so easily coming to him in the last few days. The Dursleys did not make it any better, too. Withholding food, badmouthing his parents and the Wixen world, making him do the chores and laughing at his plight. These weren't new to him. He was used to it. But the combination of the Dursely torture along with nightmares was taking a toll on bith his body and mind. Many times, in the past few days, he wanted his mind to numb off. The pain was too much to bear. Yet, something always pushed him to go through the day, and that sole source of comfort and inspiration was Hedwig, his only friend in the world. No one understood him like Hedwig because she was the only one who had seen him and been with him in his darkest and most painful times.
Harry was scared to leave her alone in the hands of these vultures, called Dursley. Thus, he pushed himself to go through the day, only for her.
So, just like every day since the past one and a half months, he got out of his bed and walked four steps diagonally from the window and sat down. Concentrating on the floor in the dark, he slowly reached for the slab of wood and removed a piece of the floor. What he saw there brought a small, relieved smile on his face. Looking at his expression, one could say he almost got the Elixir for life. When he finally picked the object up, it was actually a dagger; one that Dobby had snagged for him.
He grinned widely at it, almost like a deranged man. Dark thoughts were engulfing his mind in every way they could. Had anyone looked at him now, they wouldn't have realized that he was the Wixen World's hero, the boy who lived, Harry James Potter.
Mother Magic, Fate, Destiny, and Death were worried at the turn of events. When they had planned his life, they had never anticipated that Harry would ever want to take his own life, would ever want to cut off his own magic. But they were helpless because there was nothing that could stop him. Every support he had was far away from him, and half of them were dead. Hedwig was the only support system he had. But at this point, having seen and felt all that Harry had gone through in his short life, she didn't stop him. Death seemed far more peaceful than the life of the boy known as Harry Potter.
The Gods in the Heaven most certainly were having a heavy discussion at this moment because, if Harry died, the balance of this world would most definitely be destroyed the moment his breathing stopped. He was, after all, the balance point they had created. He was meant for great things. He was meant to take the Wixen to a new Era. Alas! It seems like he now wanted to end this miserable life.
They hadn't planned for his life to be this pathetic, but they hadn't stopped it too. They knew that they couldn't stop him now, nor would anyone else be able to. So, the best course of action is to take a few steps back to change a few routes and then try for a new path. That's the only thing they could do. Looking at each other, they determined themselves to undo a few of their plans, those that weren't already set in stone.
As the heavenly deities went on to work on their decided plan, one Harry Potter vanished from the world, not long after which, the world rotated itself in the opposite direction and stopped as many wizards and witches vanished from their homes too.
*************************
Unknown room
A bright light filled the room, changing it to resemble a cozy house with couches, cushions, beanbag, tables, carpets, blankets, a stack of books, and many artifacts that had been lost in time. Once the room restructured itself according to the requirements of the user, another ray of bright light brought several unconscious witches and wizards into the room.
A few minutes later, they all started waking up one by one and were shocked to see each other once they got hold of their bearings. Harry, who had his glasses thrown away from the face was adjusting them back before he looked up to see what the commotion was all about. As much as he remembered he had committed suicide; so getting back up either meant, he was at the hospital ( which was wierd because the Dursleys wouldnt bring back what they want to throw out as garbage) or he was in the Afterlife (which seemed more than probable after he sighted someone). As soon as he raised up his face, he was left stumped.
There, standing in front of him was a fully healthy and alive Sirius Black. His heart beats fastened as they took in the form of his dead godfather miraculously standing alive. His breathing almost stopped in the fear that in the next breath, Sirius would disappear, just like in his dreams. It seemed like all his nightmares and dreams came true altogether, and he had no idea whether it was his imaginations like always or reality that he had wished and prayed fervently for days.
Sirius, on the other hand, was looking around trying to make sense of everything just like everyone else. Some were panicking while some were getting ready for a fight. So in all the commotion, he didn't realize that Harry was walking towards him. It was someone's shout of "Harry" that got him to notice his godson walking towards him. It had been a long time since he had seen his godson, his Harry, after that goddamn Tournament.
He had pleaded and begged Dumbledore to let him stay with Harry. His godson needed him after the Godawful trial he had faced. But that old geezer had been set on sending Harry back to the Dursleys. But looking at him now filled him with joy and tension at the same time. After all, this was an unchartered territory, and he had no idea how and from whom to protect Harry. Plus, looking at the teen, he could clearly tell that Harry was not okay. He might seem normal on the outside, but the eyes, the eyes were so weary and held so much pain that Sirius couldn't fathom how to approach his godson. But his worries seemed unfounded as Harry in the next second had rushed to him and taken him into a fierce hug, as if his life depended on it.
Sirius wouldn’t deny that it was warm to be hugged this passionately by someone, as he hadn't been hugged like this since like forever. Even when Remus had hugged him, he had been careful, and others had dared not approach him. But feeling his godson like this, Sirius was overwhelmed with emotions. He reciprocated the hug and a few moments later but was alarmed when he felt a hot trail on his shirt, realizing that his Harry was crying. This was surprising as well as alarming because never in his entire time of knowing Harry had he seen his Godson so broken. Yes, Harry had cried while holding Cedric's body, but this.... this was something else. His broken cries were so hurtful to hear that nearly everyone who had been involved with their own self had looked at the pair of them.
Sirius tried removing Harry from the hug to calm him down, but the hold was so fierce that he didn't even have the heart to try harder. Instead of saying anything, he just took to reassuring him that Sirius was there for him. It went on for the next twenty minutes, and Sirius stood there trying to calm his Godson down, but nothing seemed to be working. He was starting to get worried when Harry’s hold loosened on him. But instead of just coming out of the hug, Harry almost fell down, if not for Sirius holding him.
Harry was unconscious, and this worried Sirius. Severeus and Poppy were by his side in seconds.
"What happened to him, Poppy?" Sirius asked the mediwitch worriedly.
"There is something very wrong going on with Mr. Potter." Madam Pomphrey saud as she waved her wand in intricate patterns over Harry. She continued after a while, "While, it might have been just fatigue due to so much emotional distress. But there is something more that I am not able to catch. Even the diagnosis is not showing anything.
"Let me handle it." Right then , a very tall and a regal man came forward and bent beside Harry as he took in his form. Sirius thought, he had seen a moment of surprise on just face before it was masked on, making him think if he had only imagined it.
After a few seconds of prodding and poking, the man actually let out a surprised chuckle. Sirius looked at him and gruffly said, "Hey, if you can't treat my Godson, then you are free to leave. No one asked for your help. You can't just come here and laugh at the face of worried guardians if you can treat their children.'
"Huh... be it any world. You are prickly as always when it comes to Harry." His smile was still plastered on his face.
Sirius, Severus, and even Poppy were getting angry now. His absurd talking was disturbing them, and he wasn't even helping them. Poppy was just about to berate the man when a strangled voice from someone amongst the crowd made them all stop in their tracks, "Percival Graves??!!!"
Chapter 2: THE REBUKE
Summary:
The wixen get a much needed scolding, not that it makes any difference.
Chapter Text
Everyone heard the name. The name, which had no business being amongst them. After all, Percival Graves was heard to be dead even before Grindelwald and Dumbledore had their face-off. So it was weird to hear his name. He was somehow always forgotten in history, and no one knew why, even though he had played some of the very major roles in the Wixen world.
Dumbledore's reaction was even more weird with how he was staring at the said man. It was an expression that no one had ever seen or even imagined to see on Albus-too-many-names-Dumblerore's face. It was a shock, surprise, and agony all at the same time.
Trying to recover from his shock, Albus had just taken the first step towards the said man, when a blinding white light filled the room making it unable for anyone to see anything for the next few moments.
When the lights dimmed, nothing happened, except an additional table upon which three CDs were placed and also a large screen.
"What's all this?" Hermione who had tentatively taken a step towards it had finally asked the most important question, "Will someone finally tell us, what this wierd sort of group is doing in an enclosed space altogether, when it is very much possible that they could kill each other at the drop of the hat? Are you trying to kill us? And most importantly, why is Harry unconscious? " She just asked the room in general. But no answer came.
She sighed and went ahead to the table and almost picked up one of the CDs when a shout of 'Costant Vigilance!!!!' Stopped her in her tracks. She blushed as she realized that it was a weird place and that these were unchecked items. She shouldn't have been touching them without having checked them for curses first. She should have already learned her lesson with all that time spent cleaning the Black Manor.... anyways...
She took a step back, as Mad-eye came and checked the objects for curses, when three figures materialized in front of them out of thin air. They had a very suppressing type of aura. It could make you feel suffocating for a few moments as it did to the crowd present in the room. It actually took them a few moments to get used it and look at the two females and a male standing in the middle of the room with a face as calm as the silence in the room and eyes as deep as the ocean.
Immediately, everyone was in a defensive stance. Moody, who was already near the table, asked them, "Who the hell are you? How did you apparate into this place? We tried it before, but nothing had happened. So how? (After thinking for a few seconds) Wait a moment, did you or did you not kidnap us all here?" Keeping them at his wand point.
They would have already peed in their pants if it were someone else. But these three merely laughed and waved their hands, disarming him without much thought.
'Wandless magic, and that too done with such an ease, they seem to be very powerful.' That was the general thought process of almost everyone present there.
Looking at their display of magic, everyone cowered into corners and kept looking at Dumbledore and an unconscious Harry.
"Oh! Please... stop looking at a child to save your asses every damn time." The only male amongst the three newcomers scoffed at them. There were some indignant noises amongst them. But he ignored them and continued, "Dear sister, I thought we had made a better world. Harry was just there for a greater purpose, a purpose way above Albus Dumbledore's schemes, or saving these people's petty arses? But look at these people. They have made a habit of looking for a hero every damn time. This is not what I had imagined the Wixen to be when we created the world."
"You are quite right, brother. I guess that's where everything went wrong, and now we need to fix this. If not for the world balance, then at least for the child who has suffered so much in silence." The shorter female said while eyeing Harry.
Before addressing anyone else, the taller female turned towards Percival Graves and said in a voice that seemed otherworldly, "Ah! My Child, I knew I would find you here. To be honest, I had been waiting for you on this side since you had met with that tragedy. I know, it was cruel to snatch away your husbands and your lifelines from you, but we couldn't do much. According to Lord Death, it was already their time to join him. But, the versions of your husbands here were alive, and to be honest, they were in even more pain than you had in that world. At least you had a family there, but here...
In the pain of losing you, they almost killed each other. But now, now they have almost single-handedly destroyed the balance of the world. So, us coming here and warning everyone was needed. You need to be a part of it to understand how your great grandson's life would have been had he not taken the extreme step or had we not intervened. Don't worry. They will soon regain the memories of that timeline, too. But not before your purpose in this room finishes."
Graves kind of understood what was going on and was humbled at being looked out for by such heavenly beings. He had celebrated Samhain for years now and could recognize from their auras who they were. But right now, he was more concerned about his two husbands and the great grandson, who was still unconscious.
"But you still haven't introduced yourself. Please kindly do that and tell us in normal human language, as to what all is going on here? My godson is still unconscious, and you all are chatting as if you have all the time in the world." Sirius snapped at them while hugging Harry close to his body and kept rubbing his palms in hopes of waking him up. He was worried about his pup and not about some Grave or World balance. He needed to get help for his child.
"Sirius! Be quiet. I know you are worried about Harry. But trust me, these people would never let Harry be in any danger. I can assure you of that." Percival told off Sirius not unkindly for even he was worried about Harry.
"And why should I believe you. I don't even know you. Right now, nothing else matters to me. My godson is in peril, and time is slowly ticking down. I can't afford to lose him too, not after James.... (The last part was said in a whisper), " Sirius replied, taking Percival by shock when he realized that this world's Sirius wasn't his grandson. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out of it.
"It's okay, Percival. He doesn't know that we have all the time in the world, when my brother is here personally. Also, it's quite a relief to see that he is now stable enough and not completely out of his mind due to the dementors. But there is still work cut out for him if he wishes to be Harry's guardian. He can not look at Harry and remember James every time. Harry is his own person, not someone's replacement, however much he might look like them." The taller lady said while looking at many people in the room pointedly. Percival, on the other hand, looked at them in shock when he heard about demetors. He looked at Sirius, wondering what caused Sirius to be exposed to such vile creatures. Sirius seemed to be in an anothed world altogether as he was still worriedly looking at Harry with the same expression as Percival.
"Okay, then let me introduce ourselves. I am Fate (the shorter female pointed at herself), and that's my sister Destiny and brother Time. We are here to explain why you all have been brought here." Fate began explaining, breaking the awkward silence in the room, and none of the people present opened their mouths to stop them. But few of them definitely scoffed at the idea that such Heavenly beings even had the time to come meet such lowly mortals. All this definitely smelled like a hoax.
Destiny took over from her, "First of all, I know that you all think of this as hoax, and that's because we haven't met you in our original forms. But trust me when I say that you all won't be able to handle so much magic in its purest form. Don't worry, you can choose what to believe. But you all are here to stay in this room for quite a while, at least until you all see the error of your ways.
Now, let's move on to the next topic. Harry here is in a coma. But... but... (Sirius was about to throw his hands in the air and berate them all) he is okay. To be honest, it's just that his body is okay. Not his mind. Let me inform you all, Harry, that precious child has been emotionally tormented so badly that he had committed suicide."
Everyone was shocked hearing it and had at once started shouting over each other, trying to get a glimpse of the Golden Boy, who had committed suicide. Harry's friends and nemesis were both shocked that someone of Harry's stature could ever be so broken when he had everything in the world, according to them. Looking at the chaos, Time sighed before waving his hand at the crowd, silencing them all. It was this casual display of magic that some people started believing that they were actually the Gods of Time, Fate, and Destiny.
Time continued, "Trust me, it looked like you were a herd of cattle rather than respected lords and ladies of your houses. Anyways, let me explain something before you all start wasting me. Harry, that precious boy over there is not your protector or a shield behind which you all could hide whenever a problem arises. But you all did exactly that. You all messed him up so bad that he took such a severe step. Do remember this: You all are the reason Harry would have been completely lost from this world if we had not intervened. We all had to intervene as he is the Balance Point of this world. If he destroys himself, it won't be long before this world also destroys itself. That's why he was the Chosen One. Not because he survived a murder and became an orphan. Huh..." To think that the people were so stupid to believe a story concocted by a crazy oldie.
"We intervened before he could take his last breath and stopped the world while reversing it to one year back to this point. So, all in all, this Harry might seem like he is the one whom you met just after that godforsaken tournament. But actually, he has additional one year worth of extra memories and experiences than you. Right now, we have kept him in healing stasis so that his body and mind could recover to the point where he could take in more surprises and shocks. So, right now, he will stay that way until you all complete this first CD.
This CD consists of memories of the following one year. It details what would have happened, had we not intervened, and why Harry even tried to take his life in the first place. Once this is over, he will get up on his own. Moreover, he has been traumatized once. There is no need to go through the same pain again. Once was more than enough. Till then, keep him with you, Sirius. He might be unconscious, but he can feel you. You are the only attachment he has to the world. If you are missing, it won't be long before he gives up on himself, yet again." Fate explained and warned them. Sirius was shocked hearing the fact that this young boy almost took his own life. He was in a daze, thinking, 'Just how much pain was he in that he decided to end his life?' He kept looking at the gaunt face of his precious godson, his hold tightening around Harry as he realized that he had almost lost him.
"Finally, these three CDs are explaining the next three years from Harry’s POV. In short, these CDs contain your future. A future as dark as the coal and Death's robe. It would show you the consequences of your actions. Percival, (turning towards him) you are not included in those memories because you coming here was a chance, 1 in a million. This is the course history would have taken if you hadn't come here. Look at how your husbands have treated a world without you." Destiny finished explaining. Percival was growing more worried at what this version of his world had come to, just because he wasn't there for his husbands. He knew they were crazy without him. But to think that they had single-handedly brought the world to an almost extinction was very difficult pill to swallow.
"Okay then, you all are intelligent enough to figure out the rest. Let me warn you. There should absolutely be no violence. You can express your grief and anger. But violence is absolutely a NO. Anyways, we are sealing off your magical cores as a precaution, too." Time said, and no one even dared to argue, what with the fierce look on his face.
"Also, some people here aren't meant to be alive or should not have been invited according to you all. But you will understand with passing time, the reason of their presence. Till then, behave like normal human beings at least. Don't you all worry. We will surely come to visit you once in a while." Destiny warned them.
"Also, about the previous years. We had initially thought about showing all seven years of Harry being at Hogwarts. But we thought it wasn't needed as they had already passed and nothing could be done about it. Anyways, we might show you some parts of it for understanding purposes when needed. You just have to ask the question to this room. It will provide you with everything. After all, it's the Room of Requirement. As this is our version of it, the Gamp's Law is also not applicable here. You can get anything you want as long as we approve it. Beware, we are watching you all from the other side." Fate winked at those who had known of this room, and they were surprised, to say the least.
Time took over and said the last words, "You all don't have to worry about your livelihoods. I have stopped for you currently as you all have been taken out of my domain. So you can stay here, however long it takes to finish these CDs and understanding your purpose after going back. Once this is over, you all will be going back to your own timeline, to the same point when you were brought here, except Harry and Percival. Harry has already merged with his younger self, and Percival is here to stay in this timeline, too."
Hearing him, Albus and another person seemed to shed the tension in their shoulders and sighed in relief. It was done so minutely that no one except Percival noticed, who smirked inwardly thinking of ways to handle his two idiots.
A few moments later, the three of them vanished, and there was a pin drop silence in the room. Percival made the first move as he picked up Harry and made him comfortable on the single bed in the room. Sirius took a seat beside him as his hand was still clutched in Harry's. Remus too sat beside him as he was also worried for his cub.
Soon, everyone had taken their seats, and Percival finally took a look at who all were present there.
Except the aforementioned people :-
The Weasely family
Neville and Augusta Longbottom
Oliver Wood
Malfoy family
Young Regulus Black (Sirius or any of his siblings had yet to notice his presence as he was sitting in the last hidden in a corner. Others didn’t recognize him as it had been many years since he was last seen.)
Theodore Nott
The Gryffindor team
Hannah Abbott and her family
Blaise Zabini and his mother
Luna and Xenophilus Lovegood
Alexander de Forz (potions and transfiguration mastery. Earl of RavenClaw)
Kingsley Shaklebolt
Minerva McGonagall
Edward Cullen (people were shocked seeing him there as he was an exact carbon copy of Late Cedric Diggory. But he had already introduced himself as Edward)
Augustus Rockwood
Greengrass family
Susan and Amelia Bones
Jonathan Hughes (Ancient Runes Mastery. Worked with goblins in Romania.)
Tonks family
Delacour family
Rabastan Lestrange
Barty Crouch junior (turns out, it was his golem which received the dementor’s kiss. During the investigation, Rockwook had come impersonating a guard and whisked his best friend away. People have yet to know this. He was just keeping to himself, and observing his surrounding)
Aberforth Dumbledore
Filius Flitwick
Goblin king "Ragnok"
Garrick Ollivander
Aurora Sinistra
Professor Vector
Hagrid
Dean Thomas
Seamus Finnigan
Pomona Sprout
Adrian Pucey
Victor Krum
Marcus Flint
Lee Jordan
Gellert Grindelwald (People were doubly shocked seeing him in person for the first time. He had been an infamous icon for so many years, after all. But Gellert had his eyes stuck on someone else altogether)
"Well, hello to everyone. I guess... umm... It's weird for all of us here to be together for such an important task. But let's all keep aur grudges at bay and look at these memories with an open mind before we decide on our next course of action." Arthur Weasley spoke up bravely to break the awkward silence, as they all registered just who all were there.
"Huh... do you seriously believe all this.... this... Mr. Weasley? It's all so absurd. Tell me, how is it possible that those three were God's, and they came to give us future memories? How very convenient..." Hermione scoffed at the idea and would have gone on if Lucius Malfoy hadn't interrupted her, "Stop it, girl, if you want even the slightest chance to save your friend." Pointing at Harry. That seemed to do the work as Hermione shut up immediately.
Turning towards Dumbledore, Lucius spoke in a derisive tone, "Do you see this Dumbledore? This girl is a witch, yet she has no idea about the Heavenly dieties. Had she and all the muggleborns alike, been following our culture and Olden Rites, she wouldn't be questioning it all now."
Everyone expected Dumbledore to give his grandfatherly smile and answer in puzzles. But Albus-too-many-names-Dumblerore's eyes were stuck somewhere else, better on someone else.
Percival could feel two pairs of gazes on himself and knew his husbands were staring at him. So to diffuse the situation, he spoke up, "Instead of wasting time arguing with each other, why don't we start with these CDs and then we will see if it is truth or not. Anyway, if I can travel from a parallel world to this, then I think this is also possible."
He dropped a bomb on everyone. But instead of giving them time to digest it, he got up and played the CD. The lights went off as the screen flared up with only one single, emboldened line, that seemed to be the title.
"HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX"
It actually took people by surprise who knew about the secret organization, and a niggling doubt entered there minds, 'Is this really going to show us our supposed future?'
