Chapter 1: One
Chapter Text
To fly in the air without a care in the world, showing your true beauty to those around you, Tamaki thought to himself as he watched one of his best friends shoot waves of energy that spiralled into the sky; white dress flowing around her frame. Something that seems so reachable for someone like me, yet so incredibly far away. I could never get in front of someone dressed like that, at least without having an anxiety attack.
Tamaki gave an internal sigh as he watched the tail end of Nejire's performance, clapping quietly behind the crowd of people, watching a couple of Class 1-B students gawk at the blue-haired third-year. "Congrats, Nejire! Amazing performance!" Yuyu stated next to Tamaki, making the raven jump in place before nodding along with the words. "Aww, thanks Yuyu! Jiki, what'd you think? Think I'll win?" Nejire grinned as she walked up to her friends. "Ah, I don't really think there's any competition at your level," Amajiki mumbled, face growing warm as he purposefully looked away from Hadou, eyes catching a glimpse of a small girl on top of broad shoulders.
"Oh Jiki, no need to flatter me!" Nejire laughed, just as Yuyu asked about what Mirio was doing after following the raven's gaze. "He said Eri really wanted to watch Midoriya's performance with his class," Tamaki answered without hesitation, embarassment gone from his voice as his eyes were glued on the two on the other side of the clearing. "Hey, let's watch them, too! Uraraka and Tsu are in it, too! And your Riot!" Nejire shouted excitedly, grabbing an arm from the two people as she dragged them over to the crowded, half-enclosed stage. Unfortunately, Mirio and Eri were too far in the crowd to reach.
Tamaki jumped, as did half the crowd, when the performance began with a loud explosion. His muscles tensed, and his eyes scanned around for danger before realizing it was actually part of the show. His eye gave a twitch as his gaze landed on the blond student who was drumming. Ah, Bakugou Katsuki. He was away from lessons when we went to the class to teach them, which only ended in Mirio beating up all the students. I wonder why Kirishima finds him so fascinating.
Tamaki's thought's about the two boys were haulted when the voice kicked in, and he saw the purple-haired student, Jirou Kyouka, he reminded himself, singing center stage. She looked shy, looking down at the mic as she sang the opening lines, the most of the rest of the class dancing along. He looked over at Mirio and Eri, watching the blond point out Midoriya on stage.
He then wondered were Kirishima was, looking all over stage before seeing movement above him just in his peripheral. There he was, up on the metal rafters above the stage with a few other classmates. He looked back at the stage, focusing back on the performance. It went on for about half a minute more before the excitement started, with a student in armour being thrown up into the air by Midoriya, shooting bright blue lasers into the air around him. Tamaki felt someone grip his arm, and he only glanced over briefly at the amazement on Nejire's face before looking on with undoubtably the same expression.
As the performance continued, it was like living as a child once more, him feeling himself smile wide for the first time in a long time. He watched confetti fly into the air, sparkles fall from the sky, which he glanced up to see Kirishima using his quirk on an ice block as if he was a grater, and even Uraraka flying through the crowd and using her own quirk to let other people fly around with her. He glanced over at his best friend when the performance was nearing it's end, seeing Mirio cry happily as he held a beaming Eri. It was the first time anyone had seen her smile since being rescued, so of course Mirio would be so excited to see it. He lost his quirk for her, after all.
Tamaki felt himself tear up, so he looked away to avoid turning into a second Mirio. Instead he focused on Jirou, now seeing her having fun singing, her shy-ness was thrown away, and she looked confidence and proud to be on stage in front of everyone. How can someone go from being so timid to having so much fun doing the same thing? Does singing really come that easily to people with no confidence?
Tamaki was intrigued, and he wondered if he would be able to do anything that could make Eri smile like that again for Mirio. Even though he personally had never talked to the girl, she meant a lot to Mirio, and Tamaki has a feeling if he was the one who originally ran into her on the streets with Overhaul, he would feel the same way about the girl.
Mirio had lost a lot recently. His mentor, who was a good friend, and an important person to him; his quirk, the thing he had spent his entire life perfecting; Him and his friends and coworkers leaving the raid with only injuries.... This had to have meant everything to him. Midoriya and Eri are still children, and they're almost everything he has left from that outing. Tamaki wasn't exluding himself by any means, he himself knows that he means a lot to Mirio, and vice versa. It just didn't feel right inserting himself into the same area as Eri, Sir Nighteye, and Midoriya.
He was drawn back to the stage when the final note rang out, the performing class finishing up the dance and song; ice crystals still falling from the sky, shining lights from both sides from the student in armour, Aoyama Yuga, and the invisible girl, Hagakure Tooru. He took a deep breath in, the air chilly from all the ice around them but clear, and for the first time in a long while he didn't have an ounce of anxiety in him.
"Tamaki! I've never seen you so happy!" Nejire shouted, and Tamaki covered his face the second he saw Mirio turn over to them from the corner of his vision. "No, don't cover yourself! I haven't ever seen you smile so wide and have child-like eyes!" She continued, which only made him shake his head from behind his hands. He lowered his hands a second after, forgetting Nejire was there as he saw Mirio take Eri towards the stage, probably to go see Midoriya.
"You really looked peaceful and overall happy, Ama," Yuyu mumbled from his right, and he turned to look at her with a pained expression. "I would appreciate it if you didn't humiliate me further," he whined, hunching over as he groaned. "Hey, it's not humiliating to be happy, Tamaki! I'm just happy you could enjoy it as much as we did," Nejire gave a soft laugh, and Tamaki only relaxed his posture and gave a smile back.
--
"I heard you enjoyed the performance!" Mirio laughed as he plopped on Tamaki's bed after the raven let him into the room. Tamaki nodded, sitting next to the other before pulling the blond into a hug. Mirio gave a hum of confusion, arms awkwardly in the air as his smile wavered, unsure what to do since his friend rarely initiates any contact whatsoever.
"...I saw her, too." Tamaki whispered, closing his eyes as he gently rested his chin on the other's shoulder. He felt Mirio freeze for a few seconds before he was hugged back, although a bit harshly. Tamaki felt panic rise as his breath shortened at the tight squeeze, but refused to say anything or move away. Mirio needed to get his emotions out somehow, and the second he felt Mirio's body move with a small sniff, he knew he wouldn't move for the world.
"You don't understand how much it meant to me," Mirio tried whispering, but his wavering, cracking voice wouldn't let it happen. "I don't understand, no. But we weren't the only ones to see it," He trailed off, hands gently rubbing circles on the blond's back as he opened his eyes to meet the dark room, of which was only lit by the small lamp in the corner. "Huh?" Mirio questioned, pulling back to stare at the soft face of his childhood friend.
Tamaki gave a small smile, eyes tearing up from seeing the wet face of the other. "You said he passed with a smile on his face, right? He used his quirk on you, from what Midoriya told me. He saw it too, Mirio. He saw her with you," he finished, his own tear falling down his face before he was tackled back onto the bed.
He landed with a small grunt, ignoring his surprise and instead turning his attention to the blond who was on his side, curled into Tamaki with his face on the raven's chest. Tamaki stayed quiet, letting the blond cry and cry until he couldn't any longer. They stayed in silence for awhile, and only when Tamaki moved to look at the other did he see closed eyes and a slightly open mouth. Mirio had fallen asleep, and Tamaki, although aching from the position, refused to move and instead fell asleep for the night, as well.
--
Tamaki woke up to an empty bed, and he was somehow under the covers. He figured Mirio got up and left as to not embarass himself after the raven had woken up. Amajiki understood, and paid it no mind as he got up and readied himself in the bathroom for the day. As he pulled the curtains away from the glass, he practically blinded himself with the sun directly outside his window, and he had to cover his eyes and look another direction to get his vision stable.
He found his phone next to his bed on the end table, and turned the screen on to see that it was already past noon and he almost screamed. He had plans to go shopping, to visit people, and to go to his favourite food place before his patrol with Fatgum in the evening.
He sighs, disregarding most of his plans and instead settled on going to see if he can talk to Jirou about the performance from last night. He threw on some black sweatpants and a black hoodie, slipping on his socks and shoes before heading out of his room and towards the exit of his dorm. He enjoyed the short stroll to the other dormitory, watching the colored leaves falling around him in the cool air.
He knew that you needed a key to get into each dorm for safety reasons, so he didn't have one of course. He stood outside and knocked a few times, knowing it was fine since he saw a few students in the common area of the dormatory. The door opened, and suddenly there was a scary figure who had jumped in his face with a loud greeting.
Tamaki yelped, jumping back a bit as the shadowy bird retreated with an apology. "Ah, sorry, Dark Shadow isn't good at keeping his emotions in control," The soothing voice stated, and Tamaki recognized the student as Tokoyami Fumikage. "Ah, i-it's fine.." Tamaki mumbled, walking into the dorm as the student stepped back to let him in.
"Oh! Amajiki, what brings you here?" Uraraka grinned from the small group of students in the room, surrounding a table with cards on it. "I-I was hoping someone could tell me which room is Kirishima's in here.." He trailed off, crossing his arms as he slowly swayed from side to side on his legs. "Oh, sure! I can take you there!" Ochako stood up, dusting off her leggings before ushering the raven to follow her into the elvator.
As the doors closed, she turned to him, "Whatcha need Kiri for?" Tamaki curled further into himself. "I was gonna ask him if he could take me to Jirou." "Oh? What you need her for? Or Kirishima for that matter," she was confused, and rightfully so. Tamaki blushed, fumbling over his words. "I-I was watching her yesterday. In the span of one song she went from shy and insecure to incredibly confident and ended up having a lot of fun."
"Oh, so a confidence question! She's still not an extremely confident person, I'm thinking it could have just been the time. Or maybe the atmosphere.... I'm not sure! What's up with Kirishima?" She re-iterated her question. "U-um.. I didn't want to just show up to her room un-announced by myself. She doesn't really know me at all, or I- her, but I know Kirishima well and I feel like that's all I needed. H-He makes me feel better about talking to people, you know?" He asked back, looking up to meet soft brown eyes and a small smile.
"Yeah, I get that. It's really easy to feel safe when he's around. He's like every girls protector here, basically. Very easy to get along with. Though, if you have confidence issues you could just ask Kirishima himself. According to Mina, he was very closed-in and insecure when he was in middle school, and that over the summer he decided to change and all of a sudden he was who he is now," Ochako explained as the elevator doors opened.
"I know he's got some problems, but he tenses when I remotely come close to talking to him about his past. I refuse to make someone discuss something they're uncomfortable with," Amajiki mumbles as he followed the brunette to the second door down the hall. "Oh, I didn't know that! Good to know to not ask him about it. Ah, he probably knows we are here, I'm a bit loud-" "Who's at the fucking door?" A voice asked at the door opened, Kirishima poking his head out before seeing the two in the hallway.
"Just Uraraka and Amajiki," Kirishima turned to reply to Bakugou as he stepped out of the room. "Hey, something happen?" He asked, raking his hand through his spiked hair being held back by a headband. "No, Jiki just has some questions about confidence and all and wanted to see if you'd escort him to Jirou's room," Ochako explained, feeling the waves of anxiety pouring out of the raven next to him.
"Why doesn't he just ask his dumbass friend who had too much confidence that he ran headfirst into a battle that lost him his quirk?" Bakugou immediately retaliated, and the silence was deafening for all of two seconds.
"Ex-fucking-scuse me?" Tamaki asked back harshly, eyes narrowed as he looked past Kirishima into the room at the blond, who only met his eyes head-on. "You fucking heard me. I feel like he'd be the first option to go and ask about confidence since he seems so full of it-" "DUDE!" Kirishima turned to glare at the blond along with Uraraka who joined in.
Tamaki took in a deep breath, eyes matching the burning carmine ones for a few more seconds before he turned around and walked back down the hall. Uraraka immediately turned and went to catch up with Tamaki as Kirishima immediately reentered his room with the slam of his door, loud yelling following suit.
"You were here for two fucking seconds, I don't understand what Kirishima sees in that asshole," Uraraka growled, grabbing Tamaki's arm before dragging him past the elevator to the other side of the dorm, and walked into the first room. "Uh," Tamaki hummed as he was suddenly thrown into a basic, but neat, dorm room.
Uraraka closed the door, "Sorry, I just didn't want you to go downstairs immediately after getting here. I didn't want everyone to bombard you with questions." "Mm.. Thanks.." Tamaki mumbled his gratitude, going to sit cross-legged on the floor by her bed only to place his forehead on the wall.
"I'm sorry about Bakugou, I really am. We know he's gotten so much better since the start of the year but he has his moments. He's an asshole at heart," Uraraka huffed, sitting on the bed next to where Amajiki was on the floor. "It's alright. To other people, it might come off as Mirio being dumb in that fight. And honestly, I think it was stupid of him. It wasn't confidence that threw him in there. He just wanted to save Eri with all of his heart, and most people won't ever know that. All they know is he threw himself into a battle he knew he couldn't win, but just so desperately needed to do something to prove that he gave his all to get her to safety."
"Jiki.." Uraraka whispered heartbrokenly, looking down at the upperclassman. "When I found him, I thought he had died. When I took on the Three Bullets and told everyone else to keep going on, I did it because I had confidence that we could succeed in our mission. And for my confidence in my own ability to nearly get him killed ruined me for days. Yes, I had injuries too, but nothing as bad as him. I can never forgive myself for not beating those three villains faster. I could have been there to help, and maybe him losing his quirk could have been avoided. But.." Tamaki finished his words in a trail, quieting himself. He knew if he kept speaking he would cry, and he felt like Uraraka knew it, too.
"Hey, let's change the subject, right? Hmm... Hey, I've seen you do it a lot, but the wall-thing you do with your head. Is it for anxiety?" Uraraka asked, bubbly voice back once again. "Yeah, more or less. A cool surface on my head helps ease my thoughts. Makes them not as loud, and it allows me to focus on breathing exercises and all."
"That's a cool way to do it, though! You aren't on any medication, right?" She asked again, curiosity coming out. Tamaki leaned away from the wall, looking up at the girl on the bed. "No, I tried once and for some reason it gave me a panic attack. We aren't sure why, but we just figured that with my brain knowing that i'm on medication, it just messed me up." "Oh, dang. I mean, it sucks they don't work for you, but at least you found a way around it. Any other things you do to help your anxiety?"
"...Mirio helps," Tamaki mumbled, surprising himself for maintaining eye contact with the girl after saying something incredibly embarassing. "Aw, that's sweet! You've known each other for a long time, right?" Ochako smiled leaning back on her hands as she got herself comfortable.
"Y-yeah.. We met in elementary school. I had trasferred to his school and he was the first and only person to talk to me, even when I didn't respond back." He recounted his childhood, looking down to the floor with a soft look on his face. "Must have been dear to you, considering he's the only one who made the effort to talk to such an amazing future-hero, huh? I wish I had childhood friends still. Mine were all mean," She puffed her cheeks out, annoyingly looking away from Tamaki.
Tamaki chuckled as he looked back at the younger student. "Ah, hey, while I'm thinking about it.. D-do you um.." He started, then swallowed his breath, face heating up quickly. "I can wait," Uraraka stated giving a patient smile as she avoided eye contact for the sake of the older. "Okay.. So uh, I was watching Hadou's performance yesterday and um.. It made me realize i'd like to dress like her?"
"Oh? Is this like.. you realizing something about yourself or..?" She asked, trying to grasp at what he was trying to say. "No, no.. at least I don't think so. I'm still comfortable as a boy and all, I just want to dress like her. Not full dresses or anything, but like flowy tops, cute leggings, heels... I don't know.." He felt himself crashing, lifting his knees up only to shove his face in them.
"No, it's okay! It's fine to feel like that, I like dressing very boy-ish, myself! Not all the time, usually only in private, but it makes me feel a bit better about myself. It could also help with your confidence, too," Uraraka explained, waving her hands around as she talked.
"I-I guess so, yeah..." Tamaki trailed off, and him and Uraraka spent a bit of time discussing having an upcoming shopping trip with a few other girls to help him pick out some clothes.
--
"Hey, Amajiki-Senpai, I-" "Don't worry about it," Tamaki lifted a hand towards the redhead who strolled up to him in his hero outfit. They were outside Fatgum's office, waiting for him to get off the phone with another Pro-hero so they could start on their Patrol.
"B-but-" "Kirishima, trust me. It's fine," Tamaki stated coldly, which made Kirishima bite his tongue and just nod back. "... Okay." He finally reponded a few seconds before Fatgum emerged from his room. "Change in schedule, boys. Apparently a nearby Agency is going to do rounds tonight to start training for another work-study. They want me to join em, and since our Area will be covered you guys are free to head home."
"I gotta ride the train all the way back?" Kirishima groaned, but yelped loudly as he was lifted into the air by giant talons and wings. "Hey, Is this safe?!" Kirishima shouted, Tamaki only laughing as he flew faster back towards the direction of UA. "No idea, but it's faster!"
They ended up landing in the entrace courtyard of the campus. Tamaki would have taken them further to their dorms but his phone was ringing, and just in case it was an emergency he wanted to answer it immediately. Kirishima was rolling his shoulders, arms a little sore from the flight but was more interested in the loud ringtone.
Tamaki didn't waste a second after reading the name before answering. "Mirio, what's wrong?" He asked, Kirishima immediately honing in on the conversation. "Hey Jiki, sorry I know you're on patrol, I just wanted to make sure you were okay," Mirio's voice sang through the speaker, and the quiet night let Kirishima hear the whole sentence. Kirishima then gave a small thanks before walking off to the direction of the dorms, leaving Tamaki in the dim lighting of the courtyard.
"Got called off, so I just made it back. Yeah, I'm alright, what's up?" Tamaki asked, watching Kirishima walk off. "Heard through the gossip grapevine that is Midoriya that another student made you upset. Said it was a 'Kacchan' or whatever. Said that Kirishima told him that his boyfriend said some mean things, and that Kirishima couldn't find you for hours after that."
Tamaki sighed, "Leave it up to Kirishima to tell the one person that spreads news like wildfire... Yeah, I'm okay. It wasn't that bad or anything, I just spent the afternoon talking with Uraraka." He started his own walk to his dorm, taking slow steps to enjoy the cold air. Though, he kinda felt like without the adrenaline rush of being on patrol, the cold would affect his feet a lot more.
"Oh, alright. I'm just glad, from the sound of it you just up n' went missing. I mean on one hand that's completely like you, but on the other.." Mirio trailed off. "Tama, are you back at your dorm yet? Mind if I head over?" Tamaki smiled through the phone, "I'm walking there, I had just landed in the front courtyard when you called-" "Get your butt in your room, your feet are gonna freeze off!" Mirio chastised, which made the other laugh.
It was funny, but after a few seconds Tamaki realized how cold his feet, face and back actually were, since under his cape on his back was pretty much bare for when he needed to use wings and such. "Y-yeah, I'm almost there. Should have thought about this before winter started..."
"I mean it's a recent adjustment to your outfit, so you probably weren't thinking to much considering you made it this year when it was hot outside," Mirio explained, and Tamaki nodded to himself. "True. It's definitely something- oh.." Tamaki felt himself stumble as someone ran into him, the person yelling "sorry! In a hurry!" As they continued past.
Something didn't feel right to Tamaki, and he slowly walked over to a tree, hearing Mirio calling his name on the other side of the phone. "Ah... I'm gonna lay down.." Tamaki quietly mumbled before the phone dropped to the ground not too long before he did, too.
Chapter 2: Two
Chapter Text
"Hey, hey he's awake!" A voice called to him, and Tamaki groggily opened his eyes only to squint them in the bright light. Nejire gave a smile as she finally came into view, Mirio next to her. "Huh?" Tamaki asked, shooting up from his place in the white room. "Hold your horses there, Tama. Don't push yourself," Mirio put a hand on the raven's chest, pushing him back down on the slanted bed.
"Uhm.." Tamaki questioned, looking between the two. "There was a girl who rushed here with her pet cat earlier, said she bumped into someone on the way here. Assuming it was you. Said her quirk makes anything the opposing person is feeling increase tenfold! Though, that included the cat..." Nejire explained quickly. "Idiot, I'm glad I called you. You almost froze!" Mirio growled, eyes narrowed at the raven.
Tamaki felt something strike inside of his body. He hasn't ever seen Mirio look so... so angry at him before. It made his stomach churn, and he felt like throwing up. He felt his eyes water, and he saw Mirio deflate, "Hey, Tamaki, it's okay, I-I'm not mad at you."
Tamaki wanted to say bullshit, because the expression he gave was the complete opposite of his words. "It's not like he meant to bump into her or vice versa, Togata," Nejire explained, the blond sighing as he rubbed the back of his head. "I know, I know, It's just.." He looked over at Tamaki, and the raven understood.
It was like his adrenaline rush when he found Mirio and thought he was dead at the hideout. He was angry at him afterwards, but kept it to himself, just happy he was still alive.
Tamaki nodded at the blond, and Mirio sighed with relief. "Wait, I almost froze?" He pieced together. Nejire nodded, "Yeah, Togata stated you were talking about how cold you were from being outside. If her quirk does what she said it does, it basically instantly increased how cold you were by a huge amount."
"Oh... I'm awake now, so can I leave?" Tamaki asked, the two in front of him smacking their faces. "You're still heating up from being so cold, dumbo," Nejire explained, and Tamaki tilted his head. Mirio's face paled, "you're telling me you can't feel the multiple heating blankets on you, or even the two giant heaters at both of your sides?"
Tamaki turned his head and yup, those were definitely giant space heaters. The lack of words made Mirio jump up and leave the room. A second later he came back with Chiyo following him, her eyes looking tired from having to wake up in the middle of the night. "Sorry, Chiyo.." Tamaki mumbled as he lifted one of his arms and started inspecting by pinching, poking, and doing multiple things of the like.
After a minute of Tamaki just sitting there with a blank expression, Chiyo sighed. "Did you even feel me putting a needle in your arm?" Tamaki blinked, looking at her holding a vial of his blood. "Oh... Uh, no," he answered, watching his friends look worried. "I'm thinking the sheer intensity of that quirk and the coldness on your body shot all of your nerves at that moment. Let me take your temperature then we can figure out what to do."
--
Their table at lunch was pretty lively. "Is everything really numb?" Kirishima asked, poking the raven's arm. "Yeah, Recovery Girl said his nerves were shot from the intesity of the quirk he was hit with," Mirio explained to the redhead, Tamaki nodding next to him. "Damn. How long did it take you to heat up to normal temperature? Any help from things you ate?" Kirishima questioned, genuinely looking concerned.
Tamaki shrugged, letting himself lean into Mirio's side, who slightly pushed back to hold up his weight. "Apparently the dummy forgot to eat all day yesterday," Mirio grumbled, the girls gasping. "What?!" Uraraka exclaimed, mouth full of food. "Doesn't sound healthy.." Tsuyu stated quietly. "Isn't your quirk based on eating? Wouldn't that make you want to eat more than most other people?" Midoriya questioned, food ignored in favor of learning about his upperclassman's quirk.
"Yeah, it usually makes his appetite bigger than other's. The only problem is Kiki always forgets to think about himself and ends up starving without meaning to. Not a good habit when you want to be prepared for anything that could happen," Mirio chastised, then froze in confusion when everyone stared at him.
"What?" Mirio mumbled, glancing between at the people at the table before looking on his left shoulder at the blushing raven who had shuffled to look up at him. "Kiki?" Tamaki asked, afraid to move his body. He watched Mirio go from pale to bright red in seconds. "Yeah, I'm just glad he didn't end up on patrol then. Wouldn't want Jiki to get into a fight with nothing for his quirk!" Nejire stated, drawing attention away from the blushing mess that was Togata.
"Damn you really are numb," Kirishima established, Tamaki moving his head to look at his Kohai, blinking dumbly as the redhead continued poking Tamaki's side. "Sorry," Kirishima pulled away and rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact. Amajiki smacked his knee into the redhead's, glancing down to make sure he didn't hit him too hard, since he couldn't feel the impact. He laughed lightly as he replied with "It's alright, you're fine."
Conversation went on as normal as it could, from school work to talking about Tamaki's eating habits, to work. The group only sits together once a week on Monday's, so it was nice to catch up on things that went on throughout the previous few days.
--
Tamaki's nerves were finally waking up, his body now feeling like it was recovering from cut-off circulation. It was that tingly, painful feeling where it was sensitive to move anything, so he had stayed in from school that day. It hurt and just felt wrong if he moved one muscle, so he continued to lay in bed in the dark room and sleep the day away.
A knock suddenly rang through the room, and Tamaki gave a quiet 'what?' in response. "Hey Tama, I brought someone who wants to talk!" Mirio shouted from outside, and Tamaki gave a loud groan. He had the sense to text Mirio after waking up to not wait up for him, and had told him what was going on. Mirio hasn't gone to school since losing his quirk, but he was still in the habit of walking with Tamaki to the main building, and would sometimes come to join him and Nejire during lunch. It was sweet, really.
His arm tingled horridly as he reached to his bedside table, scrambling until he found the keys to his room. He inhaled a breath, preparing himself mentally for a few seconds before chucking them at the door. He cheered quietly as he saw the edge of his school ID card slip under the door. Mirio was quick to lean down to pick them up and unlock his door, telling the person outside to wait a second as Mirio slipped into the pitch black room.
"You doing okay?" The blond asked softly, cracking open the curtains for the bright sun before walking over to the raven who was already groaning on the bed. "No," Tamaki huffed, eyes half closed as he looked up at those beautiful blue irises. "That bad? I know you said that feeling was coming back and all, but are you up for a serious conversation right now? It's Bakugou," Mirio whispered, concern written on his face as he looked at his friend who was curled into a ball on his bed, hair tussled everywhere.
"Y-Yeah, mph-" Tamaki sucked in a breath through his teeth as he moved his hand to push on the bed, forcing himself into a sitting position before exhaling. "Brush?" He asked quietly, Mirio nodding as he headed towards the connected bathroom before arriving back with a dark purple hairbrush.
Tamaki only stared at Mirio for a moment before the other understood, sitting on the bed next to him. The blond lifted the brush and his other hand to part pieces of Tamaki's hair to brush, not exactly caring about how his hair laid. All he wanted to do was brush it out for Tamaki like he was asked to... by eyes, not words of course.
"Pins and needles?" Mirio questioned as he finished, placing the brush on the bedside table as he leaned forward to make eye contact with Tamaki. The raven nodded with a small smile, "You can get him and leave us. It's alright." "You sure?" Mirio asked seriously, moving to stand up and head to the door.
"I have my phone on me, Micchan. Go ahead," He responded with his own self-made pet name. He figured if Mirio had one for him that made him embarassed, he should make his own that could make him see that brilliant red face again. And so he did- Mirio's face heated up quickly, and he turned to leave the room in a hurry, which was honestly incredibly amusing.
"You sure it's fine if I come in?" The gruff voice spoke, and blond spikey hair came into view as Bakugou took a single step in the room, hands buried in his oversized sweatshirt; probably Kirishima's. "Y-yeah. Don't worry too much. If it's about the other day it's fine," Tamaki explained quietly as he watch the other close the door and move to sit in the desk chair after spinning it to face the other.
"Fine is a fucking wild way to put it," Bakugou chuckled. "Not even a few hours after I was kicked out of EIjirou's room I was given a visit by your boyfriend. He wasn't exactly being a dick but he wasn't happy."
"B-boyfriend?" Tamaki questioned, feeling his face heat up the same time Bakugou's did. "Oh, are you guys not-? Um..." Bakugou trailed off, looking at the floor, and for a second Tamaki saw himself in the younger boy. "It's fine. He was upset apparently? He never told me he went to your room," Amajiki huffed, annoyed at his best friend for not giving him all the details.
"Tch, not surprised. Nothing much happened, he mostly just asked what shit was said, since he was looking around for you after Deku told him whatever Ei told him. They're all horrid at keeping anything to themselves, I fucking swear i'm going to rip off their mouths. I um... I 'apologized' to him and he got shitty saying that he wasn't the one I should fucking apologize to, which I get." Bakugou rambled on in a voice that was barely above a mumble, eyes looking everywhere except the other.
"He was surprised as all hell when I told him you had said the word 'fucking.' He said you don't curse, like, ever, so it must have affected you a lot," Bakugou stated, sounding a bit amused. Tamaki opened his mouth to speak, and Bakugou cut him off with a raised hand, narrowed carmine eyes moving to meet his violet ones again. "Kiri updated me on how long you've known each other, what shit you guys went through, and so on and so forth. Of course, Ei won't know your whole fucking life story, but when I saw how you guys were during lunch yesterday I could see a lot between you two."
"Enough for you to think we're dating?" Tamaki gave a laugh, Bakugou looking embarassed again. "Look, I don't mean to fucking assume, it's just-" "No, it's fine!" He gave a last chuckle, "I'm honestly okay if that's what the public sees." "Oh? So are you trying to get together or...?"
Tamaki sighed, "Mirio's got a lot going on right now. Besides, I've tried giving him all the signals I possibly could over the past 3 damn years and he's an oblivious man. If other's see us as together, that just makes it easier for people to leave him alone in that regard." Bakugou only nodded.
"Um... But yeah, so he wasn't happy at what I said to him, and I don't exactly feel proud of anything I said. I'm trying to learn what is an okay thing to say and not, it's just kinda.." "Rooted in your brain?" Tamaki asked, the other nodding, "yeah. It's not like I want to be a dickhead every second of the day, but I'm not exactly used to trying to better myself everyday."
"Kirishima's given you homework, I assume?" Tamaki grinned, knowing full well Kirishima was stubborn and talked to Bakugou until the other would agree to try to be nicer. "I feel like we both know the answer to that one. I'm not exactly happy about it, but I promised him i'd try to act better around our 'friends' and such," the blond explained, huffing out an annoyed breath.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, you don't need to apologize to me. In the moment it was a fucked up thing to say about the person I love the most, but after talking with Uraraka afterwards it didn't seem like a bad thing to say given your perspective." Tamaki gave his own explanation, the other tilting his head questionably.
"Perspective? Either way, it still wasn't appropriate. I insulted the person that means the most to you. I know that if you said something like that about EI, and even if it were true, I'd have a grudge for years," Bakugou growled, eyes narrowing in annoyance.
"Maybe, but he did run headfirst into a battle he knew he wouldn't win. It wasn't confidence. Actually, if anything he had confidence that he would lose. He went in to buy the rest of us time to reach him and Eri," Tamaki stated, the other calming his expression down. "Why?" Bakugou finally settled on after being silent for a few moments.
Tamaki sighed, moving his legs in another position better suited to hold him up, face scrunching during the whole process. "I'm not certain if we are allowed to talk about it yet or not, since it was so recent. The mission was to invade Kai Chisaki's Yakuza den to secure all the villains and protect and save Eri. Midoriya and Mirio stumbled upon her on patrol one day, and saw her covered head to toe in bandages," He started rambling, Bakugou waving his hands in front of him quickly.
"Wait a fucking second, is this confidential?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, ever so the rule follower. Tamaki shrugged, "I mean, yeah, but you don't seem like the type to tell everyone everything you hear." Bakugou only sat in silence a minute before nodding. Tamaki gave a small smile, "okay, so by the given description they gave to Sir Nighteye, he found through the police database that he was a Yakuza leader named Overhaul, his quirk information, and that he had an adopted daughter named Eri."
"A couple of days later, Fatgum, Kirishima and I were attacked by a few of his followers, which we found through the grapevine of them yelling something along the lines of Overhaul is going to like the news about his invention or whatever. Thanks to Kohai's hardening deflecting one bullet, and me getting shot by one, we found out that Overhaul was creating quirk-destroying bullets." "Fuck. Were you fine after that? I would assume so since you were at work yesterday," Bakugou asked, leaning forward in the chair which gave away his curiosity.
Tamaki only reached up with an aching hand, arm tingling as he tugged a couple strands of hair in a habit, "Yeah, my quirk came back by the next morning. It seems they were still being tested out, and the fact that it worked on me was all the information they needed. We did more research, then were called into an emergency meeting."
"See, Eri's quirk allows her to rewinds the time of things that she touches. Apparently when her quirk manifested she had accidentally reversed her parents into nonexistence," Tamaki whispered that out, feeling his throat start to swell just thinking about it. Bakugou's eyes widened minimally, but enough for Tamaki to know it had upset the other, too.
"Um.. So moving on, we deducted from all of this information that Chisaki was using Eri's blood to create these bullets to reverse a quirk out of someone." "What the absolute fuck?" Bakugou chimed in, giving a disgusted look as he thought of how messed up the situation really was. "Yeah. And through a split decision from Nighteye at a toy store, he managed to use his quirk on someone and found out where the hideout was, and more importantly, Eri."
"That must have been when you guys had to get up and leave late at night. Ei was frantically getting himself ready, and I could hear a few other loud noises from around the dormatory. I was annoyed by it, but after seeing him on stretcher on the news getting rushed to emergency.." Bakugou explained, Tamaki responding with a soft hum.
"So much happened in there, and no one was left unscathed. Apparently Aizawa and Nighteye reported that Midoriya had actually died multiple times in the fight, but he had Eri wrapped around him and she kept rewinding him as he consistantly broke his own body down. We were all just glad Eri came out safe. Mirio misses his quirk, I can see it in his face everyday when he tries to put his face in our shared wall, tries to reach in the door to open the knob from the other side..."
Bakugou sucked in a breath through his teeth, "Fuck, now I feel even worse. If I had met a girl like that who was being abused that badly and wasn't able to properly rescue her the first time.." "It's okay. I already forgave you," Amajiki gave a pained laugh as he moved to lie down on his side.
"Oh shit, you were in a quirk accident recently, right? Do I need to get your boy- I mean... Mir-" "Call him Togata," Tamaki snapped as his mood did a 180, eyes glaring harshly at the underclassman, Bakugou only giving a small jump in surprise before glaring back. "Never-fucking-mind then, it sounds like you're just fucking peachy," He spat back, the glaring continuing until Tamaki closed his eyes and sighed.
"You stand your ground, I'll give you that much... Yeah, the whole incident apparently shot all my nerves so I'm finally gaining feeling back in my body. It feels like when you sit wrong for awhile and your foot falls asleep, then you try to walk on it." Tamaki grunted as he cracked open his eyes. "Damn, that fucking sucks," Bakugou stated coldly, but Tamaki could hear the underlying tone that he didn't want the raven to be in that situation. He wasn't sure how he could tell that's what Bakugou was trying to get across, but he just knew.
"Yeah, if you could find him for me. He's honestly probably in his room next-door watching memes on his phone about kittens waiting to see if I text him for backup," he huffed a laugh as Bakugou only cracked a wild smile before getting up and leaving with a small hand signal. It was quiet for a few seconds outside of his room (of which Bakugou didn't even close the door to). All of a sudden, a loud knock reverberated as Bakugou called out "Hey, idiot who's probably on his phone watching memes about cats!"
Tamaki snorted, a loud cackle coming out of his chest as tears sprung into his eyes. He realizes that after the conversation, he understands Bakugou a bit more, and he will probably be more approachable in the future. I mean, he's scary when Tamaki's in one of his anxiety-ridden moods, but he can tell that eventually it will be obvious that his mean-looking face is just for show. At least he hopes.
After some hushed voices from the hall, Mirio entered his room with a grin, happy as all get-out that he was hearing Tamaki's laughter. After the door closed, Mirio walked over to sit on the edge of the bed, looking down at Tamaki who was on his back, wiping away his happy tears. "And why are you so giggly?" He asked as Tamaki calmed down, finishing his spiel with a couple of short huffs of laughter.
"I just never expected to hear the words 'memes of cats' being yelled so angrily," Amajiki smiled, looking up at the other. "Me neither!... So, did he apologize? I hope?" Mirio asked with a half-assed smile, obviously still fed-up about the situation. Tamaki shook his head, and interrupted the blond after seeing him open his mouth. "I told him not to, Mirio. I mean I had to think about what he said, and it was fine. I mean... you did run into a battle knowing full well you probably couldn't win. I just had to tell him that it wasn't about confidence, and that it was something he would never understand."
Mirio looked disturbed, avoiding eye contact as he looked at the black sheets of the bed, hands gripping them tightly. "Look, Tamaki, the situation isn't about me. He made you upset, and-" "It's okay, Mirio. Trust me. I know it was just him spewing bullshit," Amajiki explained, Mirio only sighing. "That's not the point, but.." He looked up to meet purple eyes again, "if that's how you feel then I can't exactly blame you or change your mind. I mean, I was being an idiot at the time, yeah, but it's not really my fault. I get a lot of backlash from people because they think the same thing, but I can't exactly disclose any of the information from that night."
Tamaki hummed, face softening as he looked up at Mirio's glossy eyes. He could see untouched thoughts behind the bright blue orbs. "You're right, it isn't your fault at all. You knew what you had to do to buy time. I just wish I had beaten those three faster, then I could have..." "Tamaki, you know that-" "No! No, I don't know that. They weren't that difficult to beat. I-I don't know why it took me so long, but my brain wasn't fast enough, and-and I couldn't think of how to utilize my quirk, and because of me you got hurt and almost died and lost your quirk and-"
"Kiki," Mirio mumbled, flopping down in a plank next to a panicking Tamaki, inches away from the other as he stared down at his friend. "It isn't your fault either. It was you versus three of them, of course it was going to be tough. If it wasn't for you beating them as fast as you already had, who else would have found me before I bled out?" Silence took over the room, and Mirio was patient as he watched the indigo eyes flail from every corner of the room in a frenzy.
"I don't want to think about it," Tamaki whimpered, and Mirio wasted no time in laying sideways on the bed to face the other, pulling purple hair into his chin as Tamaki's face rested on his chest. "I'm sorry," Mirio apologized quietly, arms secure in their hold around the smaller figure.
--
Mirio woke up to a loud thud, shooting up in bed to look around in the darkness. The curtains that were left open let in a bit of moonlight, and he caught sight of a figure on the floor. He reached into his back pocket to pull out his phone and turn on the flashlight, immediately dropping his phone on the bed face down when he saw it was Tamaki.
He fell to the ground next to the raven, arms hovering above the other has Tamaki shook on the floor on his side, hands clasped in a vice grip in his hair as sobs rolled out of his mouth. Mirio swallowed a breath as he felt his body about to either start crying along with him, or get sick. "Fuck," Mirio huffed in a panic, gently touching Tamaki's arm, not recieving a response.
He gave his friend another look, seeing the glazed over look in his eyes thanks to his phone's flashlight illuminating the room slightly. He doubts Tamaki was still asleep, but he wasn't sure the other was all there, either. He swiftly forced Tamaki onto his back and sat down on the other's lower-stomach, reaching up and detangling the other's fingers from his hair. He gently held Tamaki's hands in between his own against his chest, trying to make himself calm down so Tamaki could breathe slowly alongside him.
He remembers when Tamaki had a panic attack when they were kids, at least the first one for Mirio to be witness to. He had no idea what to do, but watched as Tamaki's parents' pet dog walk over; the 30 pound girl approaching the child that was sitting up with his head in his hands. She laid across his lap, and as he grew up he learned that Tamaki responds well to pressure-therapy. It only took a few minutes for Tamaki's breathing to slow, his eyes beginning to blink rapidly to get himself to focus on his surroundings.
"M...Micchan?" Tamaki whispered, allowing the blond to lean forward and place his face on Tamaki's shoulder, practically laying on the other. "Scared the heck out of me. You okay?" Mirio quietly asked, only recieving a small "I'm sorry" in response. "Tamaki, never apologize for something like this," Mirio chastised gently, letting the other be silent for a bit longer.
"You know.. The pins and needles aren't as bad. I'm just glad I can properly feel contact now. I was starting to miss you," Tamaki admitted, and Mirio felt his face heat up significantly. He wasn't sure what exactly Tamaki missed. Pressure therapy? When he would wrap his arm around his shoulder when they met up? The numerous hugs he gives Tamaki? (All of which, he makes sure Tamaki is in the right headspace for).
Mirio only gave a short hum in reply, enjoying the silence between them. "Um.. Maybe get me off the floor?" Tamaki asked with a laugh, voice cracking a bit; Mirio wasting zero time in helping the other up onto the black bedding. They were laying side-by-side, both looking up at the ceiling for a second until Mirio turned off his phone's light.
"Wanna talk about it?" Mirio mumbled out the words, glancing quickly at the other before focusing back up at the roof. "...It was a dream, nothing serious," Tamaki stated back, closing his eyes. "You mean a nightmare? If it makes you feel that way, it shouldn't deserve to be called a dream. I shoulda beat it up for you!" Mirio raised his voice at the end as he slammed a fist into his other hand, a small smack echoing from the impact.
Tamaki gave a quiet laugh, rolling on his side and gently placing his head against Mirio's shoulder. "I'll be sure to let you know when you need to beat something up for me. You are the strongest person I know, after all," The raven cuddled closer to Togata's side, smiling to himself when Mirio turned to face him, Tamaki's face now in his chest as he wrapped his arms around the smaller.
"Even as I am now?" The blond whispered the words a few moments later, and Tamaki could practically hear the anticipation and anxiety wavering off of the other. Tamaki nodded, answering without hesitation, "Micchan, your quirk isn't what makes you strong. Your body isn't what makes you strong. Your mind is, and you've been through so much. The fact that you still smile everyday proves that you are strong, and I will never think of you as anything less than number one in my heart."
Tamaki heard the blond give a quiet sniff, and so he stayed quiet as his best friend ran through his own mind at the words he was given. He refused to make a sound when he could tell Mirio was crying, only wrapping his arms around the larger man as he laid there in silence. You will always be enough, Mirio.
--
"Hey! Jiki, Open up!" A voice rang through the door as a fist pounded on the wood. Mirio and Tamaki had taken a nap together after school, since Tamaki was physically still in some pain, and Mirio was wanting to sleep due to his depression (which he refuses to admit he has but Tamaki knows better).
The raven rubbed his eyes as Mirio stirred next to him. Tamaki forced his body to get off of his bed and shuffled to the door in socks, his nerves having moved passed the 'asleep' phase, and is now pretty much just insanely sore. He cracked the door open, squinting his eyes at the light from the hallway, jumping in place as he saw the group of girls on the other side.
"Uhm, what, eh?" Amajiki stuttered as his eyes were now wide open, Ochako laughing, "hey, I think he forgot about it." "I thought that was a bit too obvious," Yuyu giggled, motioning to the raven's hair. "Kiki, who is it?" A quiet voice echoed from behind Tamaki, the group of girls all becoming quiet except for Hadou who just snickered.
"A-ah, it's Neji and some friends," Tamaki turned his head back towards the bed from behind the door, glad that the image of a shirtless Mirio sitting up in his bed while childishly rubbing his eyes was only in his view. He turned back to the girls, telling them "one moment," before gently closing the door.
He moved almost automatically when fixing his hair, putting on some black jeans and a gray hoodie, and only when he was slipping on his shoes did his sleepy friend pipe up. "Hey, where you going?" "Me and the girls planned a shopping trip to help pick out some new clothes for me and all." "Oh. Anything specific? You normally don't ask for help when going to a store for clothes," Mirio pointed out as he leaned back onto his hands, looking at the other under sleepy eyelids.
Tamaki felt his face heat up a bit, shaking his head. "J-just to match colors with each other and all. I'm not exactly good at determining what colors fit with my hair," he rambled on, knowing Nejire was 100% standing out there with her ear on the door. Mirio only huffed, "Tamaki, you look good in everything. But do have fun, though. It's not like you to go out with friends often, so I definitely want to hear how it went when you're back."
"Mm... What about you?" Tamaki asked as he started towards the bed near the blond. "Not sure. Either stay here and sleep, or I can see if Eri is able to hang out. She's never had ice cream and i've been meaning to take her to an ice cream parlor," Mirio explained, Tamaki grinning at the words.
"That sounds sweet, though i'd like to tag along on that one," Amajiki stated quietly as he quickly leaned down, Mirio's eyes flashing from half-lidded to wide as hell when a quick, chaste kiss was placed on his lips. "See you in a bit," Tamaki rushed out of the room, and after the door was closed he grabbed Nejire's hand and literally ran down the hall, the rest of the group following until they were in the elevator.
Tamaki leaned against one side of the small room, covering his face with his hands. "What happened?" Uraraka questioned, the other 4 nodding along. Nejire and another Class 1-A student, Ashido Mina he recalled, were practically vibrating with energy as if they knew what happened.
Tamaki groaned loudly, sliding down the wall until he hit the floor, curling in on himself. "You need to answer us, we're practically dying here!" Nejire whined. "I'm such a dumbass," Tamaki stated with a shaky voice, feeling someone lean down in front of him. Yuyu ruffled his hair, "Amajiki, you know you aren't a dumbass. You're incredibly smart, and I'm sure what you did couldn't be bad. You and Mirio have been best friends for literally ever, what-" "I kissed him, Yuyu. I-I... We barely ever even hug, or-or... how in the hell am I supposed to think our friendship is staying after that?"
"Tamaki, calm down," Nejire quieted her voice as the raven peaked up at her, everyone seeing how red his face was. "That's pretty bold, especially for you! I'm proud!" Uraraka smiled, holding out a hand until the raven grabbed it, being pulled up into a stand, now towering over the brunette. The purple haired girl finally stepped up. "If you guys have been friends since you were children, I don't see why it should make that much of a negative impact, if he even sees it as negative. You aren't very perceptive, either of you. You couldn't stop staring at each other the entire time you've trained our class. He kept posing for you mid-fight, that should be enough of a message that he sees more in you than just his closest friend," Jirou mumbled from the back of the group, the other's nodding along.
"Though, knowing you, I never would have guessed you'd do something before him!" Nejire exclaimed, gripping the pale hand of the blushing mess that was Tamaki as the elevator doors opened, dragging him out of the building.
Chapter 3: Three
Chapter Text
Tamaki took a deep breath as he stood outside of his own door holding multiple large bags that strung along on his arms. He pulled out his key, unlocking the room and opening the door, exhaling in relief when Mirio wasn't there. He walked in and closed the door behind him, placing all of his bags on the floor by his bed, immediately getting his things to get ready for a shower.
One shower later, he wandered back into the main part of his room with a towel around his waist, and one around his neck to catch the water dripping from his hair. It was only about 5 minutes into starting to put his new clothes up in drawers and the closet before his door cracked open, blond hair sticking in the small opening. "Hey, am I good to come in?" Mirio asked, Tamaki running through a few things in his mind of what would happen if he either let him in or didn't.
It was Mirio, and he wasn't about to start treating him differently now for his own actions, so he nodded. The other stepped in before closing his door, eyes lighting up with curiosity at the bags littered around Tamaki's feet. "Hey what did you-" "Don't!" Tamaki shouted, quirk activating as a tentacle shot out to wrap gently around the other's face to hide his eyes; the other few tentacles had grabbed the bags, threw them in the closet and then had slammed the door to the closet closed.
He let go of Mirio, the blond frozen in place in shock as all he saw was the empty floor and a red-faced Tamaki. "...ooookay," Mirio raised his hands slowly as he gave a small smile, "sorry, didn't mean to pry." "I-I overreacted.. sorry," Tamaki mumbled, sitting on his bed as the towel made a small itch appear on his waist. "Stop apologizing for things, it's really not a problem! Besides, it was my fault after all!" Mirio stepped forward, smile turning to a small smirk as he was now standing in front of the sitting raven.
He leaned down, hand raising to place his index finger under Tamaki's chin to raise his face up to his. "Just a warning, Saturday we are going with Eri to the ice cream parlor down the road," he mumbled, lidded blue eyes staring into the wide indigo eyes of the other; Tamaki frozen in place.
"Is that okay with you?" Mirio whispered, eyes narrowing as he tried to read the raven's face. Tamaki only nodded his head once, blinking dumbly at the man in front of him who was only inches from his own face. The blond smiled at the answer, eyes sparkling.
"Alright, it's a date," Mirio had whispered once more as he leaned in, mouth gently pressing against the other's for barely a second before pulling away, moving from his place and towards the door. He turned around and winked at the dumbfounded boy before quickly taking his leave.
Tamaki wasted zero time in gripping his phone off of the bedside table, immediately calling one of his emergency contacts. "Jiki? What's-" "Come here," His voice wavered as a couple tears sprung to his eyes. Nejire hung up on him immediately, and he heard a door slam on the other side of the hall, loud steps reverberating as she ran down to his room, door flinging open and closed quickly.
She was hugging him within seconds, not caring that the only thing he was wearing was a towel. "What happened?" She asked in a panic, pausing her reaction as Tamaki only turned to smile at her, water threatening to fall from his eyes. "We have a date Saturday," he relayed, and she practically screamed.
"What?! Where, what time, wow this happened fast!" She was excited as all get-out now, practically bouncing in her spot on the bed as she waved his arms around in her excitement. "Ah, I-I'm not sure. he said we were taking Eri to an ice cream shop on Saturday. I agreed, and he then said it was a date and- and.."
He lifted a hand up to cover his mouth, trying to recreate the soft feeling of his lips upon Mirio's. Nejire only squealed, reaching for the raven to shake him by the shoulders. "Tama, this is wonderful!"
--
That following day, it was a regular Wednesday. School went on like normal, Amajiki got back to his room to do his homework, and then he had a few hours before he was to go right back to sleep again.
He was starting to regain normality within his nerves, the soreness starting to subside more and more by the hour. He finally felt like he was able to write without much of a problem, so he pulled out his sketchbook and sat on his bed, turning on the lamp that was on the bedside table.
He sat there and doodled animals he has pretty much mastered - the octopus, chicken, swordfish, clams, lobster, and drew ones he has used many times before but not yet mastered; such as the cow, duck, eel, turtle, japanese spider crab, and so on.
He had thought about his quirk growing up, and even recently still knew he had difficulty in manifesting attributes related to plants. An idea rang in his mind, and closed his sketchbook in order to get ready to leave his room.
He made sure to wear clothes he didn't care much about, which was a short sleeved shirt, shorts, and some flip-flops, so they were easy to remove when needed. He headed downstairs, fidling with his phone and keys in his pocket as he made his way down the steps.
He ignored the few classmates that were chatting over a board game in the main living room, and walked directly to the left into the kitchen. "Whatcha here for?" A monotone voice spoke, and Tamaki jumped before looking over at the counter, seeing Yuyu cutting up some onions.
"Ah, looking for fruit and stuff to work on plants," Amajiki mumbled back, opening the fridge and immediately seeing the small cup of fruit he had bought a couple days ago. He takes it out, inspecting it for a few seconds before declaring it looked good enough to eat, then walked over to get a plastic fork.
"That's good. I'm glad you still try to work on your quirk, most people stop by now since it's been so long," Yuyu explained, moving to turn the heat under the water down a bit before continuing to dice the onions.
Tamaki nodded as he opened the cup of fruit, sitting down at the kitchen table, "There's so many different things in the world. Even if I worked nonstop everyday to master everything I could, I'd be dead before i'm even close to halfway done." "True... you know, you're a lot different now after that mission you guys had," she stated, looking at him in a side-eye to make sure he wasn't going to be uncomfortable talking about it.
He hummed, placing a piece of pineapple in his mouth. "How so?" He said around the food, practically inhaling the pineapple, watermelon, and blueberries. "You don't stutter as much anymore, and you don't hesitate to talk. You used to hide inside your clothes all day, and now it seems like you're able to walk with a high head."
Tamaki blushed, pausing for a second before swallowing his food. "Um... Thanks?" He asked, not sure if that was a compliment or not. "It just seems like you're a lot more confident in yourself, is what I'm trying to say. Sorry if it was weird," Yuyu apologized, and Tamaki stood up to throw away the cup and fork, eyes watering a bit.
"It's okay. Thank you," He mumbled as he turned to leave the room, heading for the front doors as he opened them to the nice, crisp, late autumn air. He felt the chill start to set in as he walked down to the other side of campus, forcing his quirk to activate and cover him in small feathers. Looks strange, but it's not like anyone could see him with how dark it was already.
He stopped the usage of his quirk as he waltzed into the large training gym, ignoring the people fighting on the main battlefield until his name was called with a loud "Hey, Amajiki-Senpai!" He paused his step, turning to see the redhead jogging up to him.
"Oh, Kohai," He stated softly, eyes flicking to the blond approaching them before looking back at Kirishima once more. "What are you doing here so late?" Kirishima questioned, tilting his head as the blond behind him just crossed his arms.
"I was going to practice my manifestation of plants," He explained giving a small shiver as a breeze came through the doors. "Oh, shit, I can close the doors," Bakugou offered with a rough voice, Tamaki shaking his head. "It's alright. It gives me some thoughts on how to upgrade my suit to fit the winter. I could always cover myself in feathers the whole time but it's a lot to cover my whole body in attributes," He rambled his own thoughts to the two in front of him.
"Yeah, that makes sense. I couldn't do much except adding sleeves to mine, but I still have to get new sleeves almost every other day," Kirishima grumbled, crossing his arms. "You also like to harden your arms unnecessarily," Tamaki chuckled, the redhead yelling a "hey!" While Bakugou gave a single loud cackle.
"Alright, let's get back to practice," Bakugou huffed, yanking his boyfriend back to the field, Tamaki watching them for a few seconds before heading to the back of the large building towards the imitation mountain area, ideas in mind on what to practice.
--
Saturday rolled around pretty quickly, Tamaki enjoying the fact that he has full feeling back in his body. The soreness left around mid-Thursday, and has been fine since. It was 10:50 in the morning when he started getting ready, as he was supposed to be downstairs by 11:10 so they could be at the parlor by 11:30. They had planned to go to a small stuffed animal factory nearby, build-a-something, was it? They had planned to go there afterwards, since that place opens at noon, and they wanted to beat the mid-afternoon crowd.
He put on some tight black leggings, and paired them with a deep purple crop top sweater, his stomach on display as his arms were covered in soft, wooly fabric. Topping it off with some black, slightly heeled boots, he thought he looked better than he ever has before. He brushed out his hair quickly, placing a purple kizashi flower on one side of his hair, two small purple ribbons flowing out of the flower. A simple, yet beautiful cherry on top for the outfit.
Feeling great, he took a picture of himself in the full-body mirror on the back of his door, grinning as he put his phone in the concealed pockets on the sides of the leggings that Uraraka picked out. He'll probably delete the picture later when he ends up finding it again. It was rare he ever kept photos of himself (usually only selfie's Mirio has forced him into). He slid his dorm keys into the opposite pocket, nodding to himself as he was ready.
He left the room and closed it gently, turning to go towards the elevator. Normally he would take the stairs from the fourth floor to the first, but he didn't want to go down the stairs in shoes he wasn't familiar with.
As the elevator opened, he saw a frozen Mirio standing with a quiet Eri. "Oh my," Mirio grinned at the other, who only blushed at the response. Tamaki walked up slowly, trying to figure out the expression on the little girl's face. She was in a bright pink sweater, a red skirt, and black tights, while Mirio was wearing a black long-sleeved sweater and some dark blue jeans.
Of course he thought Mirio looked amazing, but he couldn't help the smile he gave to the little girl. "I like your outfit, Eri, it's very pretty," He stated quietly, shuffling awkwardly in place at the other two kept eyeing him. Tamaki reached a hand up to play with the hair bordering his face in a habit, anxiously waiting for a response.
"Definitely not what I was expecting, but no complaints here!" Mirio laughed, making a show of looking at Tamaki from head to toe. Tamaki turned away slightly as his face heated up more, and only looked back when the young girl stared directly up at him.
"Th-Thank you. Your sweater is really cute, where did you get it?" She asked, a small smile on her face. "It's from a small shop in the nearby mall. I'll have to take you sometime if you want one," Tamaki offered, the girl nodding furiously before Mirio led them out of the dormatory.
The walk was a bit silent, Mirio trying to strike up conversations as he walked in between the two quiet, awkward messes. "You aren't exactly helping me out here," Mirio stated pointedly at the raven as they exited campus, making a sharp left down the sidewalk. Tamaki only huffed, "Mirio, I think you're forgetting we don't really know each other."
"Ah, yeah. Sorry, It's probably not the best situation for you two, huh?" The blond laughed, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand, as the other was being held by Eri. "Lemillion says you guys have been friends since my age, is that true?" Eri asked, leaning forward to look at Tamaki from around Mirio.
Tamaki nodded, "Yeah. We've been best friends since I can remember." "That's so cool! Am I gonna be friends with you guys that long, too?" She asked, eyes wide with wonder. "Of course, Eri!" Mirio laughed, but Eri only stared at the other student, waiting for a response.
"If you want us to be friends, then yes, I would love to be friends with you for as long as you'd like me to," Tamaki answered honestly, recieving a little smile in response as the girl turned to face forward as Mirio exclaimed they were at the Parlor.
They had each gotten a cone; cotton candy ice cream for Eri, strawberry for Tamaki, and Mirio had taken one of the chocolate ice cream flavours that contained way too many chocolate candy chunks in Tamaki's opinion. They had quiet, basic conversations, mostly Mirio telling Eri about numerous things, such as ice cream flavors, where ice cream comes from, and so forth.
They finished in about 15 minutes, and had cleaned up their hands and left the parlor to head towards the stuffed animal store. They were only about a hundred feet away from the parlor before multiple loud bangs echoed, followed by people yelling.
"So close to the school?" Mirio stated in a panic, pulling Eri into his side as the girl immediately started asking what was going on. They watched multiple people turn a corner only to run towards them, yelling as a few men followed the crowd, guns pointed towards the people. Tamaki didn't hesitate, wings shooting out from his back as large clam husks manifested from his hands as shields for the civilians.
"Mirio, get Eri out of here!" He shouted, looking back at the blond who looked conflicted. "But I can-" "But Eri can't!" Tamaki retaliated, glaring at his friend as Mirio stayed frozen on the spot, even though Eri was tugging him backwards back towards the parlor. "Mirio Togata, get your ass moving!" Tamaki shouted, shoving his friend back gently with a tentacle as he kept producing multiple clams over and over as they kept getting cracked down by bullets.
He sighed in relief as Mirio finally turned, picking up Eri as he sprinted back into the ice cream parlor where a few other people took refuge in. He turned towards where the enemies were, trying to hear exactly what directions the bullets were firing from since his vision was blocked by the clams he kept manifesting.
He made a split decision to fly up into the sky, seeing police lights from a distance as the 4 men kept firing into the sky at him, them taking turns in reloading their guns. Tamaki threw a couple of crab-shell covered tentacles down at the pair of men who were standing next to each other, in turn making the mistake of staying in place in the air.
He cried out as three shots made contact with his wings, shooting right through them as another bullet had landed in his left upper thigh. His body was full of adrenaline, not registering the amount of pain he was in as the two criminals he went after were securely wrapped in tentacles, their guns now laying on the ground.
His other hand shot out a ton of green vines, pumpkins quickly growing on the end of them as he smacked one villain and dragged him towards the last man, bowling them both over with the large pumpkins before the vines immobillized the last two.
He still was in impulse mode, but he wasn't dumb enough to keep flying with injured wings. He also wasn't stupid enough to draw the wings back into his body. It took only a few minutes for the backup to arrive, police running towards the four men before placing quirk-restrictive cuffs on them, loading them up into police cars.
One cop went over to Tamaki, thanking him profusely for reacting in a timely manner, and offered to let him ride in one of the ambulances that were picking up injured people from where the shooting had stemmed from. Tamaki declined, stating he could get there on his own, and that he wanted the injured civilians to get taken first.
Though reluctant to allow this, the police took Tamaki's name, number, student ID, and a couple of other bits of information before returning to his car to take the last villain to the nearby station.
Tamaki turned to the Parlor, seeing the people start to flood out of it when the cops had left, Mirio and Eri running towards him. "Oh my god, Tamaki!" Mirio yelped, covering Eri's eyes after seeing the amount of blood that was pooling on the ground around Tamaki.
Eri moved away from Mirio's hands, stating it was fine and that she wanted to know how bad he was hurt. Amajiki immediately felt his head spin as his adrenaline finally faded, his leg that was shot giving out, so he caught himself by manifesting a swordfish snout to hold him up like a cane.
"Hey, can you maybe carry me to the hospital? Or the school clinic, that's probably closer," Tamaki asked, Mirio cursing at the other before moving forward to hold the raven bridal-style. Eri had stepped out of her pull-on skirt, ripping one part of it to make a long piece of fabric. She moved closer, leaning up to tie it tightly around Tamaki's thigh above where the bullet hit him, trying to stop the bloodflow.
"Thank you," Tamaki mumbled, vision whitening a bit as Mirio ran at a pace that Eri could keep up with. "I'm sorry," Tamaki whispered, head dead-weighting on Mirio's chest. "Don't apologize, Kiki. I've got you, don't you worry, just keep your wings out for me, and don't sleep," Mirio continued talking, Tamaki forcing his eyes to stay open despite how exhausted his body was.
"Why can't he put his wings back? It would make him lighter," Eri panted, wide eyes looking up at the raven as her horn pulsed a bright yellow for a moment. "His quirk isn't making new parts to his body, it's just shifting their form. If he were to furl his wings back into his body, the wounds.." "His wounds would be on his back?" Eri pieced together. "Worse," Mirio finished off as he managed to scan his ID through his pockets, the U.A. gates opening as he made a sharp left once past the entrance, loud steps echoing through the building that was the emergency clinic.
"Hey, is Recovery Girl here?" Mirio questioned the intern student at the counter, the teen practially yelping as she looked up at blood-covered wings. "Shit, no, she's at the hospital nearby due to the recent incident. Was he in the shooting? What do I need to do? I'm requesting her to come back as soon as he can," she stated, pressing a large yellow button and a green button that was behind the desk before standing up and rounding the counter.
"Here, follow me," she stated, quickly taking them to the nearest surgical room: for emergency surgeries students may need to have due to harsh training and quirk overuse. Multiple other people flooded in as Tamaki was placed on the soft table, and Mirio and Eri were asked to wait in the lobby. Mirio growled, "I can wait out there, but don't you dare let him fall asleep and cancel out his quirk. The second those wings furl in those three bullets are going to be through his chest."
"Oh, fuck," The female student that was interning cursed, affirming they would do everything in their power to keep him awake. "I can't promise anything, If he passes out due to exhaustion we can't do much. The only thing I can think of now is a quirk enhancer injection, but those are dangerous to mess around with. Not to mention on the border of legality for medical use..."
Mirio only smacked a hand to his forehead, sighing as Eri grabbed the hand that was hanging down as an effort to calm him. "Look, he's important to me, okay? Just do what you can and keep me updated. Just don't let him die," Mirio snarled the last few words, glare plastered on his face. The girl nodded, closing the door between her and them.
Mirio turned and slowly walked back to the lobby with Eri gripping the hand she posessed. "Is Kiki gonna be okay?" She asked, and Mirio jumped at the name she used. "Ah, you can call him Tamaki or Suneater, if you want," he gave some options as they sat down on a couch, Mirio pulling his phone out to load up a number.
"But you called him Kiki, and it's easier to say," Eri gave a blank look as her wide eyes stared at the blond. Mirio only sighed, knowing this fight was pointless. He growled to himself, looking down at a hand as he clenched it into a fist.
"You wanted to help him.." Eri stated sadly putting a hand over the fist of the other. "But.. I took your quirk away, so you couldn't.." She gave a sniff, and Mirio looked down at her in a panic. "O-of course I wanted to help, it's in my instinct as a hero student! Listen, Eri, you weren't the one who took my quirk. It wasn't you, and even if it was you would never do something like that willingly. You're an amazing person, and I trust in you. I wouldn't change what happened to me no matter what, Eri."
"I'll get it back for you, Lemillion! I promise!" Eri stared with determination, horn pulsing yellow once more as Mirio seriously fought the urge to yank his hand away for fear of her unstable quirk. He knew if he did, it would only scare her and reverse all the work he's put into helping her. "I know you will, Eri," Mirio smiled softly as he dialed the number he had pulled up.
"What's going on?" Aizawa answered the phone immediately, and Mirio gave an awkward laugh. "Ahah.. Uhm, yeah, Aizawa, I might need you to swing by the campus clinic and pick up Eri for me," he explained, Eri immediately yelling "I'm not leaving without knowing Kiki is fine!"
"What happened? I'm on my way," he spoke swiftly on the other side of the phone, and Mirio could hear a lot of noise, presumably Aizawa leaving his apartment; one the school had built for teachers and mentors who wanted to live on school grounds instead of miles away.
"After our adventure to the ice cream shop, apparently four people started a mass shooting at the nearby outdoor shopping centre, judging by where they came from. I had taken Eri to safety while Tamaki had fought off the four of them. Don't think any of them had quirks, but they're all detained. The only issue is, Tamaki got shot a few times and he's in the midst of getting bullets taken out of him while everyone is trying to keep him awake to keep his quirk going," Mirio rambled, his own anxiety spiking up again as he stared down the hall they had just left.
"Dammit, okay," Aizawa huffed, hanging up. A few second later, he sprinted into the room, obviously out of breath as he stopped in front of the two. "You alright?" Mirio asked the teacher, who only glared back, as if egging him on to say anything further.
"Why does he have to stay awake? After a serious fight and multiple injuries it should be best for him to sleep," Aizawa asked, leaning down to ruffle Eri's hair as she walked up to him in greeting. "If his wings go back into him, the wounds will transfer to his body!" Eri explained, Aizawa tilting his head.
Mirio nodded, "since he's just molting his body into different things, he's not adding new parts, just changing them. The bullets went right directly through his wings, two on the left side and one on his right wing. If he were to undo his quirk back to a neutral state, those bullet holes that go through his wings transfer to going right through his chest and back. He'd end up probably shooting himself in the heart." As he explained, it just solidified the situation Tamaki was in, and it terrified Mirio.
Aizawa must have noticed that Mirio hadn't fully thought about the situation until he had spoken it, because he immediately gruffly responded with "He'll be fine. He's strong, and these are good people working on him."
Aizawa had tried to take Eri and leave, but she only yelled back at him multiple times that she wasn't leaving without knowing Tamaki was okay. "He saved me and Lemillion!" She had used, and it made Aizawa sigh and sit down next to Mirio. "You kids need to stop getting into battle after battle," the teacher grumbled in annoyance, snuggling his face into his scarf as he crossed his arms.
"To be fair, it's not like we start them. Everything has been haywire all year," Mirio explained, the staff only nodding. It wasn't long before Recovery Girl had walked into the building, turning to the three sitting in the lobby. "They're in the second door on the left," Mirio said tiredly, the lady nodding as she wandered down to the room and stepping in it out of view.
After about twenty minutes, the young girl student walked back out, "hey, Chiyo wants to know if um... you and her would be willing to help." She had looked at Aizawa, eyes panning to Eri before looking back up at him. Aizawa sighed, looking over at Eri. "Hey, do you wanna try to help Amajiki?" Eri had only nodded, eyes narrowed in confidence as she took his hand and headed down the hallway, the only words Mirio heard being 'tried a quirk enhancement injection and...' before they were out of earshot.
Mirio was quiet as the three left him alone. He pulled out his phone to call another person. "Hey hey! What's up?" Nejire laughed on the other side of the phone. "Hey, something happened and I think I need emotional support," he stated quietly, Nejire gasping as he could hear her door slam on the other side of the phone. "Okay, where are you, what happened?" She questioned, already running down the hall and into the elevator; she had known they were going out from word by Tamaki.
"Tamaki protected me and Eri from four men that caused a mass shooting at the outdoor market outside campus. I'm in the campus ER at the moment, and Aizawa has Eri in Tamaki's room right now," he explained. "Oh, must have been really serious if they need her to rewind him," Nejire huffed in a breath over the phone, elevator dinging in the back before she was running again, loud thud from her shoving the door open had rang through the speaker.
"Yeah, he got shot four times. Three in his wings, and we both know what would happen if clean-cut bullet wounds in his wings transferred to his chest," Mirio was hyperventilating as he spoke, Nejire saying calming words over the phone until she could get there in person. By the time she slammed the clinic doors open, Mirio was full on sobbing, tears rolling down his face as he looked up at one of his best friends. Nejire felt herself tear up as she walked over to hug the blond, talking sweetly to the man who just tightly hugged her back.
Later, Mirio was woken up when his shoulders were shaken, and he groggily blinked his eyes of sleep as he saw Nejire and Eri in front of him. "Hey, Jiki is all better, thanks to Eri! He's asleep, though, so we are good to leave, since they want him to stay here to monitor through the night." Mirio looked at the clock above the hallway that lead back to Tamaki, seeing that it was about 3 in the afternoon.
"She was amazing," Aizawa stated, hand laying on Eri's shoulder as the girl was smiling widely, horn now a tiny bump on her head. Mirio sniffed, feeling himself tear up again as he gently scooped Eri into a hug, the girl hugging him back. "I can do it, Lemillion! I can help people!" She cheered, eyes sparkling. Mirio felt more tears leave his eyes as he pulled away from the girl, nodding with a wavering smile. "Thank you, Eri. You don't understand what you've done for me," he said quietly, voice cracking a couple times.
Eri only smiled back, hugging him once more before pulling back, her eyes blinking tiredly. "You gotta be sleepy after all that. Tamaki is okay, so you should go home and get some rest," Togata advised, her nodding with a yawn as Aizawa lifted her up. "You're next, Togata," Aizawa stated calmly, referring to Eri's quirk. Mirio only shrugged, "if someone else needs it more than me, don't worry about it." Aizawa nodded, turning and leaving with Eri in his arms, her already drifting off to sleep.
--
The blond arose from his sleep as a door gently opened and closed. Mirio barely registered much until a body had plopped in bed beside him in the dark room, and he gave a small yelp, which in turn made the other scream. It had taken all but 4 seconds before Mirio was smashed against the floor by multiple octopus arms.
"Woah, wait a minute!" He groggily exclaimed, the tentacles retreating immediately. "For fucks sake, Mirio!" Tamaki yelped in response, turning on the small lamp next to the bed as he glared down at the sleepy blond who was a mess on the floor, hair pointed in every direction. Tamaki felt himself freeze as he saw how puffy the other's face and eyes were.
"Ah, sorry. I couldn't exactly warn you.." Mirio mumbled, scrambling to sit up on the floor and look up at the raven. "Fuck, your new outfit.." He whined, Tamaki only shrugging. "It's a small price to pay for protecting you guys. I'd do it again no matter how much I loved this top," Amajiki responded quietly, Mirio sighing.
The two were silent as Tamaki lazily undressed himself until he was in his underwear, laying down in the bed after placing the ruined kazashi flower on the bedside table. "I thought they said all night," Mirio mumbled, crawling back onto the bed before laying on his side to face Tamaki, who was on his back.
"All my x-rays came back perfect. They said they mostly wanted to monitor me due to the quirk-enhancement drug they had me on," Amajiki explained, giving a small shiver as a larger hand wove itself into his right hand, fingers giving a gentle squeeze. "Oh, right. Sorry, I did kind of give them permission to do that," Mirio admitted, the cold room making his feet start to become frozen.
"Hm. Usually I'd be mad about foreign medication in my body, but they said if they didn't give me it when they did, I definitely would not have made it out. They gave me it seconds before I passed out," Tamaki explained, head turning to the other, enjoying the glistening blue orbs of his friend's that reflected the lamp's light.
"Do you know what it did?" Mirio cautiously asked, Tamaki shaking his head. "Of course not, I was asleep. But Chiyo told me that I had turned into a mess of wings, tentacles, and eyeballs." "That... sounds kind of scary," Mirio shivered. Tamaki nodded, "yeah. I was told that Eri hadn't been scared, though, so that was a relief. I would hate having her see me in... such a state as that one."
"She's strong. You should have seen her, Tama. She was so happy and proud she could help you," Mirio said with a wavering voice, feeling tears start to form in his eyes, relieved that his best friend was perfectly fine due to the little girl he had risked everything for to rescue.
"I'm glad. I'm tired, though.." Tamaki whispered, eyes closing as he felt the other lean over him before the light of the lamp past his eyelids vanished. Mirio had laid back down, not responding with anything but a hum, keeping their hands entertwined as he let himself quietly cry once more.
--
"Hey! Jiki, is Togata in there with you?" Nejire's voice echoed through the door as a couple of knocks were given. Tamaki didn't register anything as he automatically got up and waddled to the door, pulling with him a blanket that he wore across his shoulders like a cape.
"Huh?" He asked sleepily, cracking open the door and squinting at the girl in front of him. "Thank goodness you're alright. Theres a couple of people here to see you. Is Togata available?" She asked quietly, Tamaki only shrugging as he opened the door more until part of Mirio was visible from the light in the hallway.
"I didn't even realize he was here last night when I came in, he had the curtains pulled and the lights off as he slept. Looked like he had cried, and doesn't look much better now... I'll leave him. Give me a sec and I'll be out," Tamaki whispered back, cracking the door almost closed so some light was given, Tamaki pulling on some sweatpants and a deep purple hoodie, raking his hands lazily through his hair as he left his room, making sure the door was unlocked.
Him and Nejire, who was still in her school outfit from her club's dance practice, had headed downstairs using the elevator. Nejire then lead him outside the front doors, and a few feet away from the building was Aizawa, Eri, and Kirishima.
"Hey," He gave a small wave as he walked up, immediately being tackled by the redhead. "Uhm.. hi?" Tamaki mumbled, hands in the air as the other had clutched him close for a few more seconds. "Sorry, man, but I don't take well to hearing that one of my best friends almost got killed," Kirishima's face heated up as he pulled away, crossing his arms in embarassment.
"It's okay, I'm just not all here yet.." Tamaki responded, trying to blink the last bit of tiredness out of his eyes. The little girl moved next, taking a few steps until she stood in front of Tamaki, wide eyes looking up at him. "You feel better?" She asked quietly.
Tamaki squatted down to her height and gave her a smile, "Yes, thanks to you. I'm grateful that you could help me, Eri." She only shook her head, reaching a hand up to pat his head a few times, "Kiki helped save Lemillion and me, so I just did the same!"
Tamaki gave a full-on grin, nodding. "I guess that's true. Now, you know what's next?" He asked, her beaming in response. "Yeah! I get to give Lemillion his quirk back!" She was excited, eyes sparkling, and Tamaki felt his own eyes start to water.
One tear fell, and Eri suddenly looked concerned, hands wavering in front of her, not knowing how she can help. 'What's wrong?" She asked quiety, Tamaki only shaking his head as he wiped the tear away. "If you do that, Eri, you don't know how happy you'd make me."
"But if it's for Lemillion, why does it make you so happy?" She asked, genuinely concerned, and Kirishima, Aizawa, and Nejire stayed quiet as they watched the two. "Mirio means so much to me, Eri. He hasn't been the same since that day, but he's smiling for the sake of everyone else. I can tell he misses his quirk, and it makes him look sad all the time from my perspective. Nothing would make me happier than knowing he's fully himself again."
Eri took a second to think about it. "Oh... You can tell he's sad? I can see it sometimes, but I really only ever see him happy, except for last night. He cares a lot about you, Kiki," She nodded to herself. Tamaki huffed out a breath, "Yeah, he cares about me too much for his own mental health. He's a mess right now. But yes, when you've been around someone long enough, and being as close as we are, we can read each other better than others."
Tamaki raised a hand to gently boop the girl on her nose, "you never see him sad because you make him really happy, Eri. You're one of his favourite people, and he cares a lot about you, too." Eri was quiet once more, looking at the ground as she said "I know, but he doesn't care about me the same way he cares about you. You're different."
"Oh, how so?" He asked, knees starting to hurt so he resorted to just sitting cross-legged on the cement. "It's hard to explain... it's like how Eraser and Hizashi are," She pieces together, finger on her chin in thought as Aizawa only grunted in surprise, turning away to look another direction so his face wasn't visible.
"I see it too," Kirishima admitted with a small laugh, Tamaki looking up at him with confusion. "I get it!" Nejire grinned, Eri only giggling back. "I'm... lost." Tamaki confessed, looking between the four. "Are you and Lemillion married?" Eri asked bluntly, eyes serious as she stared at the raven in front of her. Tamaki felt his face overheat in seconds as he flinched back, Aizawa only coughing loudly. "Hey, we aren't married, kiddo!" Aizawa retorted, Kirishima laughing loudly, "coulda fooled me!"
"No... we aren't," Tamaki responded quietly after he regained his marbles, the girl only tilting her head. "Engaged?" "No." "Dating?" "...no?" he questioned himself, Kirishima and Nejire hearing the hesitation in his voice.
"Look, I don't exactly know where we are. In the future, maybe if... um.." He somehow blushed further, jumping as a loud "Hey, Togata!" bursted from the blue-haired girl next to him. Tamaki flinched, looking towards the dorm at the incredibly tired-looking Mirio, who's face was still slightly puffy from the night before.
He was in jeans and a baggy black t-shirt, which was the most casual, yet sexy outfit Tamaki had seen on the man. Dating? Married? Was that the vibe we gave off to other people? I mean we've barely even kissed, and our 'date' was ruined by me getting hospitallized and then turning into a biblically accurate angelic-being after being drugged.
Tamaki watched Mirio jump in place as he saw the group of 5 huddled up, and hesitated to move. "Lemillion!" Eri exclaimed, running off from Tamaki and towards the blond. She grabbed his hand, pulling him back towards the group.
"Hey man, how you feelin'?" Kirishima questioned nervously as he looked at the third-year. Mirio only shrugged, eyes shifting from each person before settling on Tamaki. The raven only smiled softly up at the other from the ground where he sat, "Mirio..."
The blond plopped down on the ground next to Tamaki, their knees bumping together as he gave a small smile back. "Sorry, I'm a bit out of it today," he spoke, looking back at Eri, who had sat down in front of the two boys excitedly.
"You look... tired." Eri settled on, head tilting as her long hair wavered with the movement. Mirio sighed, rubbing the back of his neck before poking himself in the forehead, "yeah, sorry. I'm a little worn out up here."
"Do you need more sleep?" Eri questioned, Nejire only laughing, "I think he's had too much sleep, if anything!" "After a day like that I would hibernate, too," Kirishima mumbled, before chuckling, "though, Eraser hibernates for anything." "I came here to let Eri speak with Amajiki and Togata, not to be made fun of," Aizawa spoke, Kirishima only letting out a nervous laugh as he took a few steps away from the teacher.
"I'm alright, now," Mirio responded to the girl, giving a side-eye glance to Tamaki before focusing back on the younger. "It's because Kiki is here, right?" She asked, looking back and forth between the two. "Mm. I don't know if I could go on if he didn't end up safely," Mirio admitted, everyone except Eri looking alarmed.
"It's okay! He's all better now!" Eri exclaimed, Mirio only blinking back his tiredness as he gave a more cheerful nod, his own depressing mood making himself annoyed. "Alllllllright!" Mirio pumped himself up, the raven next to him jumping at the tone-shift. "Next we need to go to the stuffed animal store for Eri without interruption!" He grinned, Eri only cheering back.
Tamaki stayed quiet, kind of upset Mirio was forcing himself to be so loud and happy near Eri. Yes, Tamaki made it out safe and sound, and there's undoubtably a future outcome where Mirio's quirk is back, so there shouldn't be much of a reason to be upset, right? Tamaki knew that even if those things were true, Mirio's mind is probably still thinking of everything bad that could have happened.
"Hey, I'm here. You'll be okay," Tamaki stated softly to the blond as Eri had turned to animatedly talk to Aizawa about when she could go out again with the two boys. Mirio looked back, smile cracking into a slight frown as he nodded, gently pushing his knee into the other's.
"Alright, I got a date with Katsuki so imma head off. Enjoy your Sunday!" Kirishima exclaimed before running off towards his own dormatory. "Hey, don't you guys have somewhere to be?" Hadou grinned towards the staff and girl. Aizawa nodded, Eri jumping up and dragging Aizawa towards the entrance of the campus.
"Oh? Where are they going?" Tamaki questioned, slowly getting off the the ground, followed by Mirio doing the same. Nejire lifted her hands to pose next to her face, using her fingers as whiskers, "Eri wants a pet, and Aizawa agreed they can get a pet cat from a nearby shelter."
"That's nice... I'm going back inside," Tamaki responded, grabbing Mirio's hand before leading the other back into the dorm, abandoning a laughing Hadou. "Were you heading somewhere before?" Tamaki asked as they made their way into the main dormatory doors. Mirio shrugged, "I was gonna go get some food."
"I can make us something," Tamaki offered, looking up at the bright blue eyes which were now a bit dull. The frown on the other's face twitched, and Tamaki let go of his hand. "N-nevermind, i-it's okay," Tamaki stuttered, eyes shooting down to look at the floor as he crossed his arms tightly.
"Tamaki it's not-" "No, i-it's fine.. really," Tamaki muttered, looking back up, "you need some time to collect yourself." Mirio only nodded, looking guilty as Tamaki watched his expression for a second before the raven turned and left him at the entrance. "Come by when you want," Tamaki mumbled, not knowing if the other heard him or not as he made his way up the stairs.
A bit later in his room, Tamaki's phone played his favourite playlist as he continued scribbling in his sketchbook about whatever came to mind, bag of shrimp chips next to him. He wondered what his amalgamation looked like, and decided to draw out a human figure covered in eyes, with dozens of wings sprouting from it's body as it finished up with tantacles that spread out. It was honestly a scary thought, and seeing it on paper didn't help his case on thinking Eri must have been scared at least a little bit.
He let himself start to sing along to his music quietly, scribbling more doodles on numerous pages; not thinking about what he was drawing, he was just letting his hand move where it wanted. He paused a second as he heard the door to Mirio's room close a bit louder than usual, then waited a bit before ignoring it.
Mirio needed some time to himself to recouperate, plus, as much as he wouldn't like to admit, he didn't want to be around Mirio if he was going to also make him feel depressed. He needs to speak with someone who isn't me. It might benefit him to go out of his comfort zone to figure out what is really bothering him. He started singing once more, not even realizing his voice was getting louder little by little.
--
A few hours later had the raven on patrol, feet padding along the cold cement as he followed the other two with him. "You've any idea on how to change your costume?" Kirishima asked, arms crossed as his arms started to get chilly under his sleeves.
"I-I don't know if I can.. I already utilize what I know. Getting rid of using my feet completely isn't ideal. Though, I might get my bodysuit to fit perfectly around my back instead of being open under my cape," Tamaki rambled a bit to Kirishima, and a bit to himself as he tucked his cape around his body tighter.
"Yeah, the last thing we need is you freezing again and being out of commission another week," Fatgum stated a bit as a joke, but also seriously. Tamaki shrunk into himself hearing that, but perked up when his phone rang.
He went to pick it up from his pocket, but paused when shouts rang out from a few blocks away. The three of them ignored everything as they shot off towards the noise, only to find out that someone had pulled a prank on their friends and scared them half to death.
"You're kidding me," Tamaki huffed as they turned around to get back on schedule, pulling out his phone and seeing a voicemail from Nejire. "I wish people knew how alarming it is to heroes to hear screams ring out suddenly at night," Fatgum mumbled aloud, Kirishima only nodding as he looked over at the raven who lifted his phone towards his ear.
"Hey, Jiki, I know you're on patrol but I figured I would call anyway? Um, so I'm outside Togata's room. I watched him leave the dorm after you had lead him in there, and he looked very upset and conflicted, so I kind of followed him but don't let him know that. He went to the training gym and just kind of boxed around with a punching bag while crying, and it didn't make me feel good... So yeah then after about an hour he walked back to the dorm and went to his room. I waited about 2 or so hours after that before knocking because I didn't want to lead with 'hey I followed you and saw you break down in a public space' or anything.." Nejire's voice stated quietly, and Tamaki had stopped walking halfway through the voicemail, the two with him looking back with confusion.
"But I stayed with him for a bit, and he stated that for awhile he could hear you singing and it helped him get through some thoughts. I told him that for his safety and health he needs to chat with a therapist or something, and he got upset saying he doesn't need help and such... Didn't ya know, though, I'm pretty sure he's depressed. I don't like saying it, and especially since it's Togata! I'm not sure if it's losing his quirk and then almost losing you that's bothering him, or what is going on in his brain. I... Just figured you'd like to know. I'm assuming you guys didn't leave at all when he was with you last night. From what I know, between Friday night and today, I don't think he's eaten at all, is what my concern is. I was just wondering if you'd be able to get him some food while you're out, since I know Fatgum likes to frequent food shops on your patrols. Um.. yeah, sorry for the long talk, Jiki. I'd like to ramble more but your voicemail has a limit. See ya soon, I'll be here with him while he sleeps doing homework. Love you, bye."
Tamaki gave a nervous gulp as he pulled the phone away from his face. Friday night he, Mirio, and Nejire had dinner around 5, if he recollected correctly. From then to now, Mirio hasn't eaten in a little over 48 hours, not including the ice cream which Tamaki didn't really count.
"Hey, you look a bit pale, what's up?" Kirishima broke the silence, Tamaki jumping in place as he looked up at the two. His eyes bounced back from his mentor and underclassman, and he hesitated before holding his phone out to Kirishima.
"Uhm... you sure?" The redhead asked as he looked down at the almost 2 minute long voicemail from Nejire on the phone screen. Tamaki nodded, so the other hit the play button as he held it to his ear. A couple minutes later, Kirishima lowered the phone, looking a bit conflicted himself.
"I mean, I've been there before but he's had it hard recently. A lot worse then I've ever had.." Kirishima explained, taking a couple steps towards the raven to hand the phone back. "But I think with you two, he'll be fine. He's got plenty of people from our class who would talk with him, too, if he wants."
It didn't take long for Fatgum to realize they were talking about Mirio Togata, and he gave a small smile, knowing about Tamaki's feelings towards the other. At least, from his perspective Tamaki likes the other boy. It was hard for him to think otherwise when the blond was all Tamaki ever talked about.
"Hey, can we grab some food at the end of the patrol? I'm getting kind of hungry," Kirishima asked Taishiro, who only grinned, "Sure, Riot! Let's get a move on, then!"
--
"Thanks, Kohai," Tamaki mumbled as they exited the train station, walking side-by-side down the sidewalk towards the school that had just came into view. "No need to thank me. I've been low enough that I wouldn't eat for days on end. And it's fine for me to do that in my own head, but I can't let my friends do it. Or friends of friends," the redhead explained, arms moving in towe with his words as they waved around.
Tamaki gave a hum in reply, clutching the white take-out box in his hands. "Y-yeah... I'm allowed to be down on myself and such. I'm used to it, but... Mirio is a different story. It's been a long while since i've seen him actually upset, and this is the first time he has actually started to cause harm to himself." Kirishima chuckled a bit, "yeah, it was definitely a shift seeing such a happy guy look the way he did this morning. Though, I will admit... If I lost my quirk, and almost lost Katsuki nearly back-to-back... but you guys have known each other your whole lives, and I've only known Kats for only a little over half a year now."
"I know... yeah, I would be more than devastated," Tamaki shuddered at the thought, only imagining how his friend is feeling. "He never shows much around other people... I've seen sides of him no one else has. Anger, sadness... But this is new, and I don't like seeing this side of him," he admits.
"That's justified, though. Nobody wants to see someone important to them suffer that much on the inside. This morning, he didn't look right. He looked like he was faking it for Eri, and I mean, he was, but.." Kirishima trailed off, thinking to himself. "It's hard telling, Senpai. But what I do know, is you got him food, you're still here with him, and that's all you need. Eri will get his quirk back, and you're still alive. It's only a matter of time, but maybe he feels useless right now, especially since I heard he had wanted to help you."
Tamaki gave a frustrated sigh, "yes, he had been dumb enough to try to ask if he could fight with me. I didn't need to hear what all he had to say. I know he can fight without his quirk, he's absolutely amazing at hand-to-hand. But he can't close in distance with 4 men with guns fast enough, and Eri and the civillians were my top priority, him included. I couldn't have let him fight and let Eri sit there in the open. He can fight, but she couldn't, and that's what was most important."
Tamaki lowered his shoulders in defeat, "He lost all he had, almost including his life to keep this girl safe. I chose to do the same, for both her, and Mirio. I could explain this to him, and although he would understand, he would probably still try to retaliate on how he could have helped."
"But he helped by taking Eri and going somewhere safe, right? The fact that everyone ended up alright is what matters. If he had stayed to fight with you, all three of you... But, since he ran with her, you minimallized casualties, and because Eri was safe she was able to help save you. If you hadn't have forced him to run away, you'd all be injured, for sure, if not worse," Kirishima rationalized as they stopped at the school's front gates, both of them scanning in their ID's so the school knew they had returned for data.
They stepped through the open gates, the doors quickly falling closed behind them. "Yeah... He's just incredibly stubborn," Tamaki huffed. "He isn't the only one," Kirishima joked, gently punching the raven in the shoulder. "Let me know how it goes. You know me and Uraraka can't ignore a good couple's story. I'm sure Ashido and Jirou would wanna hear an update, too."
Tamaki didn't respond as they split ways to head to their respective dormatories. Thoughts ran through Tamaki's mind about his own quirk, his hero costume, Mirio. The thoughts never ended, and his mind kept bouncing from each topic until he had entered the dorm and headed up the stairs as quietly as he could. It was pretty late at around 11, and with it being on a Sunday, most of the dorm is probably sleeping to get ready for school tomorrow morning. He was starting to feel some fatigue, as well.
He walked down his hallway and passed his own door, looking down to make sure his hero costume wasn't messed up at all. Luckily, nothing bad happened that evening, and his costume was spotless except probably the bands that crossed under his feet from walking. He raised his hand and gave some short knocks, the two voices muttering on the other side pausing.
"Hey, Jiki," Nejire grinned as she opened the door wide, walking back in the room to sit down on the desk chair as she turned back to her book. "Still doing homework?" Tamaki asked incredulously as he stared at her, walking in to hand the box over to Mirio without looking at him.
The man tilted his head as he took the box, and Tamaki finally turned to the other after Nejire confirmed she was, in fact, still doing homework that was due tomorrow. "I brought you some of my favourite sushi. I said one day I'd bring you some to try, remember?" He asked, tilting his head as his hair fell a bit to cover his eyes. Mirio nodded slowly, opening the box to see the 10 pieces of sushi that were packed full of different things.
"Salmon, crab, white fish, tuna.." Tamaki trailed off, sitting next to the other on the bed, Nejire quiet as she worked on her paper in the bright room, looking back to the science book multiple times. Mirio picked up the wooden chopsticks that came with the food, snapping them apart as he slowly moved around one of the rolls.
Mirio avoided looking at Tamaki as he picked one up and popped it into his mouth. "Oh my god," the muffled words stated in a drawn out moan, Mirio practically melting at the taste of the food. Tamaki chuckled, crossing his legs as he laid his head on one of the broad shoulders. He paused with his eyes closed, Mirio not pushing him off of his left arm so he took that as permission to stay there.
Togata continued to quietly eat his food, Tamaki starting to drift off while laying on the other, feeling his body start to lean forward and back bit by bit, each time waking him back up fully to move back into the original position. "I'm heading out, thanks for letting me stay," Nejire whispered to Mirio, thinking Tamaki was asleep. Mirio raised a hand in a small wave as she left, turning out the main ceiling light as she left them in darkness except for the street light that was outside of Mirio's balcony, the curtains still open.
The blond placed the now empty box on the nightstand to his right, quickly wrapping his arm around Tamaki's back to lean them both back onto the bed. "I need to get out of this.." Tamaki groaned as he cracked his tired eyes open, referring to his hero outfit.
"It's okay," Mirio mumbled, helping the other take off most of the costume until he was left in the base black bodysuit. The rest of the costume lay on the floor around the bed as Tamaki laid back down, cuddling into Mirio's side once more, the action like a reflex at this point.
The blond lay on his back, left arm wrapped around the raven as his right arm laid across his own stomach, feeling satiated. "Thank you for the sushi, Tamaki," He stated, the other only giving a small sigh through his nose. "Don't need to thank me. I wanted to get you it, it's the least I could do."
"You already do so much for me, you just don't know it," Mirio whispered, closing his own eyes as he felt Tamaki shuffle a bit. "As you do the same, for me. I'm not in your position, nor may I ever be, so I won't know. But I know at least half of it, and above all else, I'm just glad we are both here, with each other. We both know if one of us is without the other.." "Yeah. I'm sorry about my behavior recently. I don't mean to make everyone else around me feel bad."
"It's alright. You just don't know how to fully handle these emotions and it's okay. You can't always be happy, but you can't always be upset like this. They come together, you know. It's like us, where I'm usually the reserved one, as with you being the outgoing one. It's okay to swap it, sometimes, it's not like you need to normallize being happy every second of the day, that's just unhealthy."
"Mhm.." Mirio hummed in response, getting a numb tingling sensation all over as his body started to fall asleep faster than his brain. "Micchan, I care about you, and so do many others. We are here for you, but we can only do so much. You have to meet us halfway, but that's your decision. Take your time, just know above all else, you will become the invincible man once more, and I'm going to be with you until the end. I love you, Mirio, and I'm not going to leave you. I promise you that." Tamaki's speech was quiet, and he didn't hear much of a response from the other. Tamaki wrote it off as him being asleep, so he just cuddled up slightly closer as he let himself drift off.
Chapter 4: Four
Chapter Text
"Hey, Tamaki!" Mirio's voice echoed through the hall as the blond ran up to the raven and blue-haired girl in the hallway, a ginger on his toes. "Hey Togata, Yuyu!" Nejire grinned, her and Tamaki pausing in their steps. "I thought of an idea for your quirk and hero outfit and such. I had informed the tech department and they said they would create something and told me to let you know to go there after school," Mirio's smile was bright as he waved around a notebook, and Tamaki barely heard the words over the blinding boy in front of him, or the loud conversations around them from all the people in the hallway. From what he did hear though, paired with the notebook that Tamaki knew was his "idea's for heroes" book (which was mostly made up of poor drawings), he gathered what information he needed.
"Oh uh.." Tamaki mumbled, shoulders hunching a bit further, "Making me talk to people? ngh..." "Hey, Jiki, it's okay! It's been awhile since your last upgrade, maybe Togata is onto something!" "You don't even know what he told them," Yuyu raised an eyebrow at Nejire, who only shrugged with a smile. "Yeah, but I trust Togata to give Tama advice. He's the most informed on how Tamaki's quirk works!"
"Alright, well, I'm technically not supposed to be in school right now, so i'm going to go, but I can't leave without a proper goodbye, now, can I?" Mirio laughed as he leaned towards the raven, Tamaki's body stiffening in surprise as soft lips were planted on his. "W-what?" Yuyu was bewildered as her and Nejire were the only ones to see the kiss, since Mirio had blocked it from view of other people with his notebook.
A couple seconds later Mirio pulled back, immediately waving to the group as he bounded off away from the three, disappearing from sight quickly. "Amajiki what was that!?" Yuyu exclaimed, Nejire laughing as multiple heads were focused on them. They already had a group watching them since Mirio has been on 'medical leave' from the school since the Overhaul incident only a few weeks ago.
Tamaki's face was bright red as he avoided everyone's gaze, hand reaching up to cover his mouth. "You guys are dating and didn't even tell me?" Yuyu questioned quietly as she leaned closer to the two so bystanders wouldn't pry further. Tamaki only shook his head, which made Yuyu immediately panic. "Oh shit, oh fuck, he just sprang that on you?" She asked as she grabbed him and Nejire's arms only to drag them to an unused classroom.
"I mean according to Jiki they've kissed twice already," Nejire stated and Yuyu only huffed, "and I wasn't informed about the second one?" "Sorry..." Nejire laughed nervously. Tamaki just felt surprised, but also way too much anxiety and panic. He just did that in front of so many students, who one-hundred percent witnessed it. No doubt everyone in the school is thinking numerous things, and he knew despite his wishes he would be the topic of conversation for hours, if not days.
"I'm not gonna be able to go back o-out there.." the raven had said the words with his voice wavering. "Jiki, it's-" "not okay, n-not okay, oh god I'm gonna be the only thing talked about a-and I was wanting to keep everything under wraps until we both knew what we were to each other, a-and now I'm not going to be able to breathe in class without s-somebody asking if we're dating o-or-" "Hey, slow down, let's come down here," Yuyu vocalized sternly, her hands on Tamaki's shoulders as she lowered them into a sit on the ground.
Tamaki had tears in his eyes, and Yuyu sighed, "I know he likes you a lot, and likes surprises, but he's definitely not the brightest when it comes to public situations." "Yeah, he's a bit of a doorknob on that one," Nejire joked, hands clasped behind her back. "Alright, I gotta get to class, I can let the teacher know you two will be late or might not even come in?"
"Just say we won't be in. After his recent exscursions, he shouldn't even be at school today anyway. I can afford to miss class, I don't mind sitting here with Amajiki," the ginger informed the other girl, who accepted the statement without fuss and left them alone.
"Thank you," Tamaki mumbled to the other, who only huffed out a laugh, "Don't worry about it. Just know I'm holding this against Togata for basically giving a bright neon sign to you for everyone to see."
--
Yuyu had left a bit ago, needing to head somewhere directly after school had ended, so Tamaki was alone. He waiting a few minutes after the halls became quiet before leaving the unused classroom, immediately turning to head towards the support department. He quickly made his way down the designated hall before entering the support wing, the tech department's large open room directly to his right.
"I'm not too certain these should be the correct model for you to be using," The pink-haired girl spoke, holding up a small black device with long wires coming out of it. "The fuck is that supposed to mean?" Bakugou huffed at the counter he stood at in the tech room, Tamaki silently walking up to them.
Bakugou's eyes shot to look at the new person with a glare before ignoring Tamaki for favor of figuring out what was wrong with the heater Mei was holding. "Who picked this out for you?" Hatsume asked, pushing her goggles off of her face, eye's honing in on the coding of the machine as she popped the black hard cover off of it.
"Fuck if I know, I don't get told who works on my shit," Bakugou growled, crossing his arms. Tamaki looked at the design of Bakugou's hero outfit on the papers spread across the desk, pointing at the top two dots on the costume. "Nimaru. Meaning he doesn't have a specified person," Amajiki mumbled, Bakugou only raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, dang. I don't mind taking on your repairs, then. Nimaru creates designs, but she doesn't input any of the technology. If she made the design, then that means a bunch of support students are working on your outfit instead of just a specific tech," Hatsume explained after she saw the confusion on Bakugou's face.
"So what the fuck is wrong with the heater?" The blond asked, looking between the two next to him. "It's outdated, right?" Tamaki asked, turning to the girl who only nodded, "yes, but also very weak for its purpose." Amajiki took in the information, memorizing how the small heater looked, just for future reference. You never know when you'll need information, after all.
"No shit, that's why I'm here," Bakugou sighed, leaning against the desk as he turned toward the raven. "Why you here? Upgrading for winter finally?" He asked, Tamaki shrugging, "No idea. Mirio asked me to come here."
"Oh, yes, Suneater," Hatsumei grinned, leaning under the desk to open a small fridge, pulling out small capsules. "He sent you here to get drugged?" Bakugou asked incredulously, staring at the bowl full of pill-like objects.
Hatsumei shook her head, "Lemillion stopped by to give us some ideas reguarding Suneater's outfit and quirk, and we figured the first one was a good enough idea to try." She opened the fridge once more to bring out a cup of water, setting it next to the capsules before picking out the bright yellow one at the top.
"So, you know the kids' toys that are sponges compacted into small capsules?" Hatsumei started her explanation, dropping the yellow oval in the water, it slowly starting to open. "Kids'... toy?" Tamaki tilted his head, looking confused as hell. Bakugou wasn't any better off.
"So these are small toys that were released years ago. They're just cut, colored sponges that open up when they intake water or something hydrating. You can compact large sponges into smaller and smaller compartments. Lemillion gave us the idea, stating what if we turned different foods into a sponge-cake like substance and shrink them down into capsules?" She continued, the yellow t-rex fully formed in the cup of water. Tamaki snorted quietly, basing a quirk-related idea off of a kid's toy is exactly something Mirio would do.
"Your quirk isn't just based on eating right? It's how much is in your system. I get it, so basically you're taking a whole meal and compacting it into bite-sized pills that expand once in your stomach," Bakugou thought out loud, Tamaki nodding along. Hatsume spoke up again, "and because your quirk is food based, We have a couple of samples here with different foods you are both used to, and ones Lemillion has informed us you aren't all too familiar with. So yes, you will swallow these whole. They expand while in your stomach, since the acid there is a form of liquid that can quickly break down the capsule's casing. Luckily, all of our data explains your metabolism is insanely strong, but also for the fact that you eat more depending on how much of your quirk you've used previously."
Tamaki continued nodding. "Um.. yeah, but is it going to be too much food for my stomach if I take more than one, since they expand?" Hatsumei only shrugged, "Keep in mind we aren't 100% certain on how exactly your quirk works. It's just stated 'while in your system,' so we can't tell if the food stays in your stomach, or if the food slowly dissolves as if your quirk is taking the food out of your stomach which can make you want more food, since it takes all those reserves away. This is why we combined multiple dishes into a singular pill, too see how your body and quirk respond to the amount in your body."
"Sounds... interesting," Tamaki ended on, thinking to himself. He was a master at his own quirk, yet he still sometimes learned new things all the time. It could explain why he feels more strain on his body if he uses tentacles for far too long. Maybe his quirk really does just absorb the food in his stomach, which indeed would make him hungrier rather than the food just being in his body for it to work. It could explain why his quirk isn't endless, and why his quirk constantly gave him migranes after a rough day of work.
"Alright. which one first, then?" Tamaki questioned, shuffling between which foot to balance on. "Here, one you're used to. Can you manifest something without knowing what's in the pill?" Hatsume asked, Tamaki shaking his head negatively. "Not unless I can tell what it is by taste. If I ate octopus and tried to manifest wings thinking I ate chicken.." he trailed off, Bakugou only cringing at the thought.
"Alright. This is swordfish," Hatsume stated, placing one of the small pills into his hand, to which he immediately swallowed. It only took a few seconds of holding his hand out before a long, sharp snout formed. "Quick, that's for sure," Bakugou mused, interested in learning more about the upperclassman who was teaching Kirishima in his work-study.
"How are you with blood, by chance?" Hatsume slowly asked, face looking a bit concerned at her own question. Tamaki shrugged, "I mean I see it all the time, pretty numb to it at this point." "Can you manifest things off of animal blood?" She asked, and the raven opened his mouth to answer before Bakugou smacked the table, startling the two. "I know what you're getting at, so don't you fucking dare," He snarled, Hatsume and Tamaki both shrinking back, Tamaki looking confused and frightened while Hatsume looked guilty.
"Sorry, Power Loader wanted to do some tests if the answer was affirmatory. I can see how it's uncomfortable, and I, too, would be worried about what the test would entail. Especially if he released that information.." Mei mumbled quietly. "He's an asshole," Bakugou stated coldly, Hatsume only nodding without a word.
"Here, this is a compact meal of frog legs paired with the DNA of a wood frog," Hatsume shook her head as she continued, holding her head high once more as she gave a smile. Tamaki was still confused, but took the small pill anyway, slowly swallowing it.
He wasn't sure on what they did, but he did know how most frogs look and such, and proceeded to shift his hand into that of a frog's, 5 fingers turning into 3 small, slightly spikey toes as scales littered the hand.
"Wood frogs are poisonous and can secrete poison. They are also the only frog that can withstand cold temperatures, as they can momentarily pause their heart for hibernation due to their body being able to produce it's own antifreeze," Hatsume explained on, Tamaki nodding as he allowed a poisonous substance to form on the frog hand, flexing the frog fingers before recalling it back into his body.
He gave himself a second of trying internally using his quirk, suddenly feeling his body heat up a bit on the inside, body temperature rising. He cut off his quirk, giving a small smile, "Yeah, the antifreeze thing works. Not too keen on stopping my heart, though.." he gave a small, nervous laugh and Bakugou only gave a snort.
"Hey, that can be something that can help with the cold, right? Can you direct that ability onto your feet since they'll be out?" Bakugou questioned, Tamaki taking a second to test it before nodding.
Mei laughed, "that's one of the specific animals Lemillion recommended we test out. He knows how much you want to be able to still use your feet in combat, so he figured he could try to help out in a different way by utilizing your quirk." The raven stood quietly, thinking about the thought Mirio had put into helping him.
"With these, though, we will probably rearrange your pouches, maybe make them smaller with embroidered labels on the inside of the pouch-flaps. Granted, you have great memorization skills, but just to be safe," Hatsume explained, and Tamaki gave her the go-ahead for the new design when she was able, since he was given leave on everything until that Thursday.
"Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Bakugou asked, as if reading his mind. "I mean, yeah. I wasn't supposed to come to classes today. Or tomorrow. or Wednesday... but I don't like holling myself up in my room, it makes me feel worse." Tamaki explained before turning back to the girl. "Not today, but tomorrow would you be able to sketch around exactly where my wings exit my shoulder-blades? I'd like to fit my bodysuit to my form, so my whole back isn't exposed to the cold air."
Hatsume agreed, them scheduling a time for him to come in tomorrow during school before both boys left, Tamaki waving to the girl as Bakugou was just happy he'd be getting new heaters for his outfit.
"What was that whole blood thing about?" Tamaki questioned, Bakugou only growling. "Your quirk is only under the interpretation that any previously living thing you have the DNA of inside your body you can manifest. She was going to ask if human DNA containing a different quirk would fucking work. At least, that's my idea of it, and she seemed disturbed to need to ask you such a question, too. Fucking sick that he made her ask that," He muttered softly, Amajiki's eyes widening as his stomach started to churn.
"Uhm... I wouldn't even know the answer to that.. I don't think I should.." Tamaki shivered at the thought. "Yeah. I'd say the only reason you'd find out is sucking off your boyfriend, but he doesn't have his quirk back, yet," Bakugou stated bluntly as they walked out of the school, heading towards the dorms. "Stop calling him my boyfriend..." Tamaki whined, ears not having heard most of what the other said.
Bakugou cackled, "you're more concerned over me calling you boyfriends and not by me telling you to suck his dick?" "W-What?!" Tamaki retorted, face now a deep red as he understood what the other was telling him. The blond only laughed as they continued walking, Tamaki quietly thinking to himself, albeit embarassed. The thought of doing something like that was way too much for Tamaki to probably ever do, and it just made him more red in the face and neck the longer he thought about it.
"Actually, the easiest thing to do would be to french kiss each other, right?" Bakugou thought out loud, Tamaki only letting out a strangled noise. "I mean, you guys aren't dating yet, from what I know of. Ei talks about you a shit ton, and how much blondie's behavior recently is affecting you. Though in the future, if you wanna test it, just french kiss, right? I mean, when he has his fucking quirk back, and you guys play tosil hockey, you'd be ingesting his saliva at some point which is a form of DNA." Bakugou mused, both poking fun at the other and also giving ideas.
"If it did work, it wouldn't be the same thing. Like If I took in DNA of let's say Froppy or Tailman, I'd be able to manifest their extra appendages such as a longer tongue and a tail, right? I don't know if I can manifest the abilities of a regular quirk that isn't a extra shift on the body," Tamaki ignored his embarassment, interested at the points the other was getting at. "Couldn't you fucking manifest your DNA into a replica of theirs? Like how you can manifest your DNA to match that of a shitty chicken, you could manifest your DNA to another person's DNA from their quirk. Like a manifestation but internal, such as that weird ass wood frog and it's antifreeze."
"I'm... not too sure. I'd have to shift my entire DNA to that of the other person to try to replicate their quirk, or at the very least what they look like. If I did ingest his DNA somehow, I could probably manifest myself into looking exactly like him, but I wouldn't know if quirks would fall through that, because I might end up destroying my own DNA and quirk in the process of trying to become something entirely new and different," Tamaki talked further.
"Ingesting who's DNA for what now? Is this a school appropriate subject?" A voice spoke, and Tamaki jumped as he turned and saw Yuyu walking a few feet away from him and Bakugou. "Never thought I'd see you two together," Yuyu continued to speak, the blond snarling a 'fuck off' as Tamaki gave another blush.
"W-we're trying to figure out stuff with my quirk and the DNA of different animals, is all," Tamaki squeaked out, the ginger only nodding slowly, "Sure... because sucking Togata's dick is included in that... you guys talk way too loud, you know," she trailed off, eyebrow raising as Bakugou only started laughing again. "L-look, d-don't.." Tamaki gave up, hugging his backpack somehow closer to him.
Yuyu only laughed as she stepped closer to the two, talking with Tamaki about everything and anything as Bakugou walked next to them quietly, keenly learning information about the two next to him. "You guys make some interesting points, though, but I believe..."
--
"Hey, Tam-mph!" Mirio's voice was cut off as Tamaki used octopus arms to slam close the door that was in the process of opening. "Tamaki? You okay?" he quickly asked, Tamaki unresponsive as he laid curled in his bed, hugging a pillow to his face and chest.
"Aw, shit, did I take things the wrong way from a few days ago? Oh I fucked up today, didn't I? Amajiki i'm- uh.." Mirio paused as loud thuds rang from beyond the closed door, and only a second later did the door open up, the raven on the other side glaring daggers at the blond. "Don't call me that," He fumed quietly, Mirio only blinking rapidly in surprise.
"S-Sorry?" Mirio was confused but apologized anyway, hands held up in a form of surrender. "J-just... don't do that in public," Tamaki mumbled as he immediately shot forward to hug the blond, arms wrapping around broad shoulders as he hid his face in Mirio's neck.
Togata kept his own hands in the air, having never had someone hug him in this manner besides Eri. Usually him and Tamaki do regular, around the chest hugs and whatnot. This one seemed... more personal, somehow, with his arms snugly hugging around his neck. "Uhm.. what?" Mirio asked dumbly.
"Idiot... d-don't kiss me in front of people... I couldn't even go to class, Yuyu h-had to run me to an unused classroom before I had an attack..." Tamaki whispered, gasping in surprise as he was suddenly forced back into his room, still clinging to the blond even after his room's door had shut behind them.
"Fuck Tamaki, I-I didn't think... I'm sorry, I didn't even realize there were people there and.. shit.." Mirio stumbled over his apology, gently hugging Tamaki back, arms wrapping around the smaller's waist, shivers running up Tamaki's spine from the feeling.
"Look, Tamaki. I didn't mean to do that in front of so many people... I-I just... It was a split decision, and I admit it was stupid and-" "Hey, it's okay," Tamaki mumbled as he pulled his head off of the warm collarbone, inches away from the soft face paired with bright blue eyes. Mirio only shook his head, "If it made you panic so much then it isn't okay. I'm sorry."
Amajiki sighed, and nodded his head for a second, "I mean, I'll have to deal with all the people... looking at me... asking me questions... oh god.." His speech fell apart as he remembered how he will be talked about for weeks, and how it will torment him. His eyes fell with his words, and he was soon looking off to the side at the floor in the semi-dark room, his lamp next to his bed shining a nice yellow across the room.
"I really am sorry, Kiki," Mirio responded quietly, giving a short kiss on top of indigo hair, the soft strands caressing his chin as he pulled his head away soon after. "I know... I-I just..." Tamaki looked back up at the other, feeling his face heat up. "How can I make it better? Want to stay in tomorrow and I can talk to people at school?" Mirio asked, trying to also make sure Tamaki gets the rest he was told to take. The raven shook his head.
"I'm going in sometime tomorrow for more updates on my costume. It's okay, I can figure it out, really. Also, thank you for talking to Hatsume. I really do like the idea so far," Tamaki stated, giving a small smile. "Glad I could help! I really didn't want you to feel less protected with your feet hidden, so I did what I could," Mirio explained, face lighting up at the fact that Tamaki approved of his suggestions so far.
"Though, if there's any way I could make it up to you, just let me know," He replied to the raven, who nodded back to affirm he heard the words. "I'll keep that in mind, though, but for now..." Tamaki trailed off, shifting his arms a bit before pulling the other in a bit closer. Mirio blushed, a clear and obvious red shown on his face since he was facing towards the lamp, something Tamaki was glad for since it meant that he was a bit more hidden.
"I have something to give back to you, just to make it even, Micchan," Tamaki whispered, connecting their mouths together with a gentle movement. Mirio almost immediately pressed back into the kiss, arms unfurling around the other's waist so his hands could hold Tamaki's hips, fingers gently pressing into where the hem of the shirt laid there.
The kiss broke, and it only took another couple seconds before they were both connected once more, then again, and again. Kiss after kiss, the two melted into each other more and more, and Tamaki's hands moved from around the other's neck to instead gently hold Mirio's face as they continued their sweet, chaste kisses.
Tamaki gave a small squeak in surprise as he felt Mirio's tongue gently tap his closed lips, the sound of the squeak passing through his mouth enough time for Mirio to pry his lips apart. Tamaki's eyes shot open as a smooth, wet tongue ran itself over his own. He saw Mirio's closed eyes paired with knitted eyebrows to show his concentration, so Tamaki slowly closed his eyelids once more, gently sliding his tongue into the other's in a small game of back-and-forth.
It was only a matter of time before Tamaki pulled away for a breath, the blond looking both pleased and smug all at once as his blue eyes stared into purple ones. "You're so cute, Kiki," Mirio mumbled, gently flexing his fingers at their spot on his hips, which made the other shiver once more at the feeling.
"H-hey.." Tamaki gave up on trying to retort back, hands falling from Mirio's face to gingerly lay on his chest, his arms bent in between their bodies. "Look, I really am sorry about earlier. I should have thought about the situation more. I know you said it's fine, but..." Mirio stated, still looking a bit guilty as he watched Tamaki's face for any expression shift.
"Trust me, it's okay. This might help me get better at doing things in public, too. It's really alright, Micchan. We both know that we think over things too long, and too hard. If you do something and I don't like it, I'll tell you. I trust you to do the same," Tamaki ranted on, the blond's eyes getting a little watery. "Thank you, Tamaki," Mirio mumbled as he pulled the other into a short hug before slowly dropping his arms from around the other.
"It's getting a bit late, though, and we should probably get some sleep," Mirio explained as he wiped his eyes, Tamaki agreeing. "Sure... but, um.." "Yeah?" Mirio asked, tilting his head at the other's words, knowing he was trying to ask something.
"Since... Since you're on leave, and I'm basically doing nothing tomorrow... Wanna um..." Tamaki was trying to find words, and Mirio had a growing smile on his face, letting Tamaki continue even though his answer was a huge yes. "Wanna m-maybe go out and get lunch somewhere? O-or dinner..? We could do something else, too..." Tamaki fumbled with his words, fingers lacing and unlacing together in a nervous habit. "Of course. Lunch sounds wonderful," Mirio stated, agreeing with Tamaki's first choice, knowing Tamaki always stated what he wants first before stating what he thinks the other person wants.
Tamaki nodded, akwardly standing and staring at the other., body jolting when the blond got closer. "Don't be so jumpy, Kiki. I'll text you when I'm up, okay?" Mirio asked, leaning in to give a small kiss to Tamaki's nose before opening the door to the hallway. Tamaki nodded with a tiny smile, giving a small wave before the door closed behind the other, leaving him alone in his room.
Tamaki immediately crawled back into his bed with a squeal, covering his mouth incredulously as he replayed those few moments in his head. How soft the other's touches were, how loving the kisses were, and how smooth his tongue had felt against his own. There was so much to think about, and yet not enough. Tamaki spent awhile thinking it over until he had fallen asleep to the thoughts, them lulling him into a peaceful slumber.
--
"Alright, I think we got it," Hatsume mumbled from behind the raven, holding up the sheets of paper and measuring tape as she moved away from the other. "Alright," Tamaki responded, sitting up and stopping his quirk, wings shifting back into his body. He gave a shiver before throwing his deep purple hoodie back on.
"It'll take a couple days, probably, with all the new upgrades everyone is getting for their outfits. We've almost finished switching up your sachel compartments, so you'll still be without those for a bit longer," Mei stated as she walked back to her workbench a few feet away, throwing the papers to the side. "And with this form you filled out, we can start creating the necessary capsules for you," She said, referring to the list of animals Tamaki had written down that he was used to using, plus animals with abilities he'd be fine with trying out (such as the wood frog).
"Alright. Th-thanks.." Tamaki was grateful to the girl for helping him out, but wasn't the best at communicating it. Mei only nodded as Tamaki got his things ready and headed out of the room, the boy feeling more awkward as she didn't say a goodbye or anything. He supposes if he said something first it would just make the situation more weird.
As he turned into the hallway, he pulled open his phone and called Mirio. "Hey, Tamaki! I was wondering if you were still asleep since I didn't get a response," Mirio laughed on the other end, Tamaki giving a small smile in response to the man's voice.
"N-no, sorry.. I was getting some measurements done at the support office," He explained, the other giving a hum back. "Um... Do you have a place in mind to go?" He asked the blond, eyes darting around the empty hallways before he made his way out of the front doors.
"It's already noon, I would have figured you'd know. But no, I don't have a place in mind. Do you?" Mirio questioned as a couple of shifting noises echoed through the phone speaker. "I mean... if you don't mind a train ride, then I guess I do. I'm leaving the school now, I should be there in a few minutes," Tamaki spoke quietly.
"Oh shit," Mirio mumbled on the other side as a bang followed his words. "Uh, yeah! I'll be down there soon, that sounds great, I don't mind a ride! See you soon!" Mirio sounded rushed as he ended the call, the raven only staring questionably at his phone for a hot second before pocketing the device.
As he walked towards his dormatory, he enjoyed the silence paired with the chilly breeze. It was nice to take walks around campus, and it was special now since school was currently going on so all of campus was barren. Leaves fell around him as he shivered once more, hands finding refuge in the warm, fuzzy stomach-pocket of his hoodie.
He had never felt more thankful to Nejire in his life for picking him out pants; the black leggings he was wearing was covered in a layer of fluffy wool on the interior. He picked up his pace, wanting to get out of the cold as soon as possible.
"Hey, Tamaki!" Mirio shouted as he descended the stairs to the dorm, jogging over to the raven who was speed-walking towards the building. "Hey, how- uh-" Mirio cut himself off as Tamaki gripped his hand before walking quickly to the exit of the campus. "You okay?" Mirio asked softly, squeezing the other's hand that was in his own.
"Y-yeah... cold.." Tamaki's teeth chattered a split second as he spoke, Mirio only matching his pace after hearing the words. "Okay. Okay, yeah, lead the way," the blond encouraged as they scanned their ID's to leave, Tamaki making a sharp right to head to the nearby station.
They made the trip quick, heading down the flights of stairs until they reached the station, which was somehow even colder than outside. "The train better be fucking heated," Tamaki cursed as they stood by the sign with Esuha written on it, Mirio widening his eyes at the wording.
"Hey, you sure you're okay?" The blond looked concerned, his other hand shoved in the pocket of his red jacket. "I-I think that... qu-quirk thing from last week ruined my tolerance for the cold," Tamaki shuddered, sighing in relief a bit when Mirio wrapped him in a hug.
They stood in each other's embrace for a bit until their ride pulled up, Tamaki dragging them onto the train and making his way towards where he and Kirishima normally sit in the back. The second Mirio sat next to him, he leaned into his side, arms wrapping around the blond's waist as he shivered once more.
"How long is the ride, usually?" Mirio asked, wrapping his right arm around the raven as he looked down at the bright indigo eyes that were looking up at him from inches away. "Mm... maybe 25 minutes or so, sorry.. it's a bit of a journey.." Tamaki apologized, Mirio grinning back, "That just means more time with you, silly."
Tamaki gave a small laugh, leaning up to give the blond a chaste kiss before leaning back onto the broad shoulder, enjoying the warmth of his best friend... boyfriend? "A-ah..." Mirio stuttered as his face became a bright pink when Tamaki went back to cuddling his side. "Y-you... here?" Mirio asked quietly, braincells unable to work properly over the fact that Tamaki had just kissed him in a public space with many people around. He supposed the other being cold could have caused it, because he wouldn't know any other reason.
He stayed quiet as he stared at the cart of people talking to each other, and listened to conversation after conversation until they had reached Esuha. "Hey, let's go," Mirio mumbled, Tamaki groaning as he forced himself to stand up and lead the blond out of the train followed by leaving the station.
As the sunlight shone around them, Tamaki took in a deep breath before gripping Mirio's hand again, dragging him in a specific direction. "So what kind of place are we going to?" Mirio asked, curiosity getting the better of him. "It's a sushi buffet paired with an aquarium," Tamaki tried to explain it, the blond giving a huge smile at the words. It sounds exactly like a place Tamaki would love, and in turn made him love the place, too, even if he hadn't seen it yet.
They soon arrived at a tall, glass-covered building. Gourmet Reef was written in bright blue letters on the front, and Mirio let the raven lead the way inside. "Oh, Suneater!" The girl at the small desk grinned, eyes widening as she looked over at the blond. "And Lemillion?"
Tamaki nodded, while Mirio only grimaced at the words, eyes shooting to the ground. The girl noticed, and immediately looked startled, "Ah, s-sorry. I'll take you to your booth, this way," She directed the conversation towards the restaurant, and Tamaki once again lead the blond through the building, turning corner after corner until they reached a secluded room.
"Thank you," Tamaki stated quietly, and waited until the girl had left before poking the blond's cheek. "Hey, what's wrong? Micchan?" The raven continued to try to get the other to open up, and Mirio just shook his head, "I shouldn't be able to be called that anym- oh.." The taller's words paused as he realized they were in a room with a floor-to-ceiling tank, large fish and shark species swimming from wall to wall in the small, curved room.
Tamaki wanted to tell the other he was wrong, and that he will always be a hero to everyone who knows him. Instead, he decided to drop it, not wanting to somber the mood. "F-Fat took me and Kirishima back here once. Now it's a request room of mine if it's open," Amajiki mumbled, sitting down on one side of the booth, patting the other side of the table until Mirio sat down on the opposite side.
Togata's blue eyes were glued to the tank next to them, the fish on the other side only mere feet from his face. "It's so..." "Calming? Peaceful?" Tamaki finished with a small smile, turning on the tablet that was laying on the table. "Yeah... Oh, what's that?" Mirio suddenly ignored the sealife as he was intrigued at the tablet in the raven's hands.
Tamaki stood up and rounded the other side to sit directly next to the blond. "Here, it's the menu. You pick what you want, send the order in, and one of their AI's brings it in," He explained, picking out an order of godzilla rolls before giving the tablet to Mirio. "And when you finish choosing what you want, just hit the send button at the bottom," he concluded his explanation as he got up and went back to his side of the booth.
"Hmm... what's this? No wait, this one looks.. hmm, but this.." Mirio mumbled to himself as he scrolled through the menu, opening the ingredients list for every dish. Tamaki adored the child-like wonder on Mirio's face, from looking at the menu, to the blue eyes peering over at the tank every so often before returning to the screen.
Tamaki sighed in contentment, placing an arm on the table as he leaned his cheek on his hand, eyes fixated on the aquarium, yet making sure Mirio was in his peripheral. He watched the fish swim in circles, the sting rays swimming alongside the glass, and even the large tiger sharks that swam slowly near the center of the tank.
"You're really pretty, you know that?" Mirio's soft voice spoke, Tamaki jumping at the words. He was too focused on the animals in the water to notice that the other had already put the order in, and had been sitting and watching him for a bit. Tamaki felt his face heat up, and he curled into himself a little, "A-ah.. um.."
"It's okay, you don't have to accept it or anything. I just wanted you to know how beautiful you are, especially in this lighting," Mirio's blue eyes were bright next to the lit body of water, and it only made Tamaki blush worse.
"I c-could say the same... your eyes..." Tamaki mumbled, the other blinking in confusion, "what about them?" The raven leaned forward a bit over the table, gently poking the other on the nose in a soft boop, "Your eyes, Mirio. The color of the water reflecting off of your irises... It's like the ocean is looking at me- embracing me."
Tamaki looked back and forth from each sapphire iris, "Like a blue rose picked out just for me. Soothing and calming to look at, too beautiful for me to look away. I want to protect that flower with all of my being, and never let it go" he tried explaining. Mirio's resolve was in shambles, heat coursing through his veins, flustered as all hell as he watched those indigo eyes stare into him. "Kiki..." Mirio whined, feeling himself faulter by the second, wanting to do nothing more except kiss the hell out of Tamaki. "H-hey, I um..." Mirio suddenly spoke, the other nodding in response for him to continue.
"I uh.. haha.. um.. I know we aren't really, um.." Mirio struggled, Tamaki a bit concerned at the out of character response from the blond. "Ah, who am I kidding... Can I call you my boyfriend, Tamaki?" Mirio spiked up his own confidence as he stated the words, knowing stuttering wouldn't get him anywhere.
Tamaki gave a small smile as he heard the sound of the small AI rolling on wheels towards them, food laid on trays in the small carrying compartments. He turned to get the food, handing Mirio a pair of chopsticks, "I would be honored to be your boyfriend, Mirio."
The meal went on peacefully, the two boys making small talk about every day life as they ate their lunch in the dimly lit room. After a bunch of sushi, teriyaki chicken, katsudon, and green tea ice cream, they were finally on their way out.
The second they were in the train car cuddled up once more, Mirio gave a small kiss on top of indigo hair. "You never told me how much the bill was, Tama," he stated, while Tamaki only huffed, shoving his face more into the other's arm. "Tamaki, really, I'd at least like to-" "I asked for you to go with me, Mirio, it's only fair that I pay," Tamaki muttered, closing his eyes as he heard the blond give a childish hmph.
"Tamaki, you know I-" "Mirio. Really, it's fine. I go there all the time, I wouldn't take you someplace to eat if I couldn't afford it." "Tamaki..." Mirio sounded defeated, eyes staring out of the window only to see the bright lights of the tunnels passing by as they sped through the country. "This just means you pay next time," Tamaki settled on, smiling to himself at the laugh the blond gave.
"Okay, okay.." Mirio finished his battle, sitting as still as he could to let Tamaki be comfortable and warm. It was about a half hour later before they were back at U.A., and Mirio spoke a few times towards his boyfriend before realizing Tamaki was fast asleep.
Mirio laughed, knowing how easy it was for the other to sleep after a big meal, so he picked him up bridal-style as he left the train, eyes following him from other people as he walked out of the station. He held the raven close as he scanned their ID's at the school entrance, Tamaki's taking more time since he had to scan Tamaki's ID through his pocket in his hoodie.
He walked back, eyes wide as he saw a bunch of students wandering around. He had forgotten it was a bit after 3, which means school was let out just a few minutes prior. He tried to ignore all the eyes on him and a sleeping Tamaki as he headed back towards their dorm.
"Hey, is Amajiki alright?" A small voice asked, and Mirio looked to his left to see Uraraka walking towards them, Kirishima right behind her followed by Asui. "Y-yeah. He just fell asleep on the train ride back," Mirio explained, feeling a small strain on his muscles in his left arm. After saving Eri and losing his quirk, he hasn't been motivated to work out or anything. Without his quirk, what was the point? He knows Eri said he'll get his quirk back soon, but he can't help but feel hopeless and lost.
"Where did you go, if you don't mind me asking?" Kirishima asked as he walked next to the blond, red eyes bouncing from blue eyes to the man in his arms. The girls followed quietly, also intrigued. "Ah, he took me to this aquarium-like restaurant in Esuha." "Oh, Gourmet Reef? Senpai loves that place. Special occasion?" Kirishima grinned, excitement written all over his face.
Mirio's smile wavered, increasingly feeling uncomfortable. Normally he would love to chat with the redhead, but after all the conflicting thoughts about himself recently, he hasn't really wanted to talk to anyone except Tamaki. "Just a date, is all," Mirio said bluntly, pace increasing ever so slightly as his dorm was in sight.
"Oh damn, is-" "Kiri, can't you read body language? He's fine so let's go," Uraraka cut in, pushing Kirishima another direction, Mirio giving her a look of which he hoped showed his gratitude. "Apologies.." Asui stated to the blond before walking off with the other two.
Mirio sighed, a small headache forming as he finally made it to the dorm, wrestling with the handle for a second before cracking the door open, using his foot to open it the rest of the way as he entered the building.
He quickly made it into the elevator, and then to his room once being lifted to their floor. He opened the door, grateful that in his hurry to leave to meet Tamaki his door was unlocked. Kicking the door gently closed behind him, he stepped forward to lay the raven on top of his bed, purple hair splayed across the dark red pillows.
Mirio took a second to just stare at the peaceful expression on his boyfriend in the soft sunlight. He then shook off his jacket to leave him in a white t-shirt and his jeans, immediately crawling into bed next to the other. He laid on his side, his eyes looking over the raven again as he gave a small grin, eyes tearing up.
He closed his eyes as the sunlight warmed his body, drifting off while thinking about how lucky he was to have Tamaki next to him.
--
"Mmm..?" Tamaki mumbled as he stirred awake, eyes squinting against the light from outside. He could tell the sun was setting, yet the light was still bright. He jumped as he noticed the soft face of his boyfriend in front of him, fast asleep on top of red blankets.
He gave a grin at the other, knowing this was a rare sight. He barely ever saw his best friend without a crease in his eyebrows, or without faked happiness, as of recently. He misses the real happiness the face used to wear nonstop, and he wishes he could make that happen again. Unfortunately, it would be at least a week before Eri would be able to help Mirio, and he only had himself to blame for getting into a stupid situation.
He definitely could have saved everyone and corralled the 4 criminals easily without the use of his wings. He would have gotten shot still, but at least they probably wouldn't have been worse wounds than what he had been given.
He shook his head, telling himself to not make this about him. It wasn't his turn to be all depressing and self-depricating. He needed to be here for Mirio, and that's what he would do until Mirio was a hundred percent himself again.
He felt how messed up his hair was, and he knew that Mirio's pillows would be covered in purple strands, but he didn't care. He could get up and leave now, and go catch up on school work. He could do a lot of things, but all he really wanted to do was stay here. So he did, he looked at Mirio for a bit longer before letting himself go back to sleep.
It only felt like he blinked, but he woke up to his phone ringing hours later. "Nngh, who'sit?" Mirio mumbled, covering his head with a pillow as Tamaki groggily pulled his phone out of his hoodie pocket. "Hello?" He sleepily asked over the phone, a soft voice responding back. "Hey Senpai. Just wondering if you'd be here tonight?" Kirishima asked, Tamaki startling the redhead and blond by screaming a loud "Oh fuck!" as he sat up quickly in bed, looking at the darkness outside of the window.
Mirio was now wide awake, head out from under his pillow as he squinted to try to find his boyfriend in the dark room. "God fucking dammit, Kohai... shit, no, I wouldn't be able to get there without being later than I already am," he cursed, Mirio and Kirishima both in shock at the language the man was using.
"Hey, no worries, you were out cold when Togata carried you back from the Reef. It's been a week for you, as well, so it's alright, really. You need some rest and it seems like you're helping him as much as he's helping you right now," Kirishima ranted, hearing a small 'all good, Suneater!' from Fatgum in the background.
"Ugh... okay. Let me know if anything happens. Be safe, Kirishima," Tamaki stated, the redhead giving an affirmatory noise before hanging up. "Fuck.." Tamaki growled, gently leaning down to place his phone on the floor next to the bed before straightening back up, turning towards where the blond was laying.
"Sorry," Tamaki whispered, Mirio only cackling out a loud laugh, the raven jumping in place. "Don't be sorry, Kiki! It was a bit surprising to hear those words from you, though," Mirio continued to laugh a bit, hands moving and smacking the bed sheets around him.
Tamaki gave his own chuckle, "The heck are you doing?" "Trying to find you!" Mirio giggled, finally smacking Tamaki's leg. Tamaki laid back down, facing the other as he reached out, hand making contact with a strong chest.
An arm was suddenly around his back, and Tamaki yelped as he was pulled forward a bit. "There you are," Mirio purred, low voice directly in front of Amajiki. The raven blushed, glad it was pitch black as he gently moved his hand up the other's body until he was cupping Mirio's face, his other hand reaching up to hold the opposite side.
"Hey," Tamaki laughed out, thumbs gently caressing Mirio's cheeks. Mirio leaned into one hand, "you know, I wanna kiss you but I'm afraid I'll miss." "Hold on, lemme just..." Tamaki mumbled, squinting his eyes as he tried activating his quirk. Swordfish eyes were a no, as were chicken eyes. Octopus eyes just made him able to detect where light was coming from, which was unhelpful since there wasn't any light. Finally, he landed on salmon eyes, which turned everything in front of him different shades of gray and green, yet he was now able to see Mirio's body in front of him.
"Woah.." Tamaki breathed out in surprised, blinking a few times as he looked at the weirdly distorted man in front of him. "Eh..?" Mirio asked. "I was trying out some things... It's really weird, using vision that isn't necessarily mine," Tamaki explained.
"Oh! Your quirk! What kinda eyes are you using?" Mirio was now giving a grin, eyes moving back and forth in the darkness to try to find the other based on where his voice was coming from. "Salmon, right now. I can see you... differently, of course. It very hard to distinguish, but... it's weird, seeing in the dark."
"Sounds cool, though! Very useful for when you're at work, too," Mirio sounded excited, but Tamaki could see the small wrinkle forming on the other's forehead. Tamaki wasn't fully certain, but he thought Mirio could be feeling.. not jealous, but left out? If Amajiki had ever lost his quirk fully, he probably wouldn't want anyone constantly talking about their own quirk all the time around him.
"Yeah.." Tamaki trailed off, licking his lips for a second before leaning in, connecting his mouth to the other's who gasped before pressing back quickly. Tamaki took initiative, gently tapping the other's mouth with his tongue. Mirio only gave a small grunt, opening his mouth to press his tongue against Tamaki's, the two easily kissing each other with fervor.
They broke apart multiple times, taking in short breathes before connecting once more. Tamaki was so fixated on his boyfriend that his quirk shut off, brain only focused on kissing the blond. "Tamaki.." Mirio whispered between kisses, Tamaki's body shuddering at the deep yet quiet sound.
The kisses were becoming less and less light, tongues now in a small competition. Tamaki was more than surprised when Mirio moved slowly during one particularly heated kiss, and didn't stop his movement until he was straddling Tamaki. His thick arms were bent at the elbow, him leaning on them so he could still kiss the raven while holding himself up. Tamaki's hands fell away from the blond's face, and instead were gripping the broad shoulders.
"Nn... Kiki.." Mirio huffed out as he pulled away for a few seconds before reconnecting them once again. Tamaki's brain was foggy, the only thing he could think about being how much he was surrounded by Mirio. Never in his life did he think he would finally get the man all to himself, and now, even when it's too much for his brain to handle, he still wanted more of him.
"A-ah, M-Mirio-" Tamaki moaned out, pulling away from the kiss when Mirio had shuffled a bit, accidentally pressing down onto the raven. "Sorry," Mirio whispered, his face heating up at the sound his boyfriend made, not knowing he could make a sound so... so incredibly hot.
Tamaki blinked back his quirk to his eyes, making out Mirio's form before shutting his quirk off once more, leaning in to kiss the blond again. Mirio squeaked in surprise, opening his mouth for the tongue that was determined to enter. Tamaki felt saliva pool out of his mouth, falling down his chin. He didn't care, squeezing his hands on the other's shoulders as he pushed his head slightly into the kiss, tongue circling Mirio's.
Mirio had inhaled a breath through his nose before experimentally rutting down onto Tamaki, the raven moaning out lowly into their kiss. There being no rejection, Mirio moved his arms into a steadier position as he pushed down again, both of them letting out small sounds of pleasure at the contact.
Their kisses were more and more heated by the second, Mirio now at a steady pace of rolling their hips together. Mirio could feel Tamaki's tongue getting tired, so he broke the kiss while giving a fairly rough rut of his hips.
"M-Mirio!" Tamaki gasped as the blond moved down Tamaki's face and neck, finding a smooth patch of skin and lightly starting to suck and bite the area. "Mirio.. M-Mirio..." Tamaki's voice forced out, legs bending up a bit as he felt heat pool at the bottom of his stomach, an unfamiliar feeling coiling in his lower body.
Mirio only moaned in response, licking the area on Tamaki's neck twice before moving over to another patch only to begin marking that area, as well. "Mi-Micchan, I.." Tamaki rambled in broken moans, giving his own small thrust up into the blond, who loudly moaned in response, mouth breaking away from the patch of skin to gasp in a breath, feeling his own lower body start to tighten up.
"K-Keep... ah, fuck, I... Mirio," Tamaki continued to talk, and Mirio was certain the raven was unaware he was rambling. Mirio knew Tamaki was in the same boat as him in regards to being close, judging by how hard the raven was gripping his shoulders. Tamaki joined in Mirio's rhythm, causing Mirio to stutter out a groan, mouth backing away from his neck.
The two just laid there, rolling into each other with each passing second. Mirio felt himself getting even closer to the edge, and knew Tamaki was mirrored. Not only because Tamaki began rolling his hips faster, but because he was increasingly getting more and more loud, and Mirio was certain others could hear him by now.
"T-Tama," Mirio mumbled, kissing back up his neck and chin in his own way to relocate those soft, loud lips. "M-Mirio, Mirio! I-I'm.. M-Mi..Nn-" Tamaki was cut off as he was enveloped into another kiss, tongue meshing together with Mirio's as he continued to moan into the blond's mouth. His hands fell from Mirio's shoulders, sliding down the muscular body until he was gripping onto the other's waist, moving the blond how he wanted.
Mirio was getting increasingly turned on by the second, his climax closing in quickly. Tamaki's moans, to him dominating Mirio in the kiss, and then manhandling his body to move in the way that he wants? Mirio has never seen such energy from the other, and it was like he was drunk on Tamaki, unable to get enough of him.
"Ah, fuck, T-Tamaki," Mirio huffed as he broke away from the kiss, not even having to put effort into moving his body; Tamaki's gentle but assertive hands using his body how he wanted. That's what it was: he was being manhandled and used, and Mirio wanted more of it.
"Micchan, Mirio, please- I-I, hah.. fuck, fuck-" Tamaki's voice raised a pitch, and Mirio was unable to care about how loud they were. He buckled forward, arms barely holding him up as he was chest-to-chest with Tamaki, sweat rolling down his forehead as he let himself get lead into the motions that Tamaki had insisted upon. He heard his volume increasing with each moan he let out to the point that his throat was hurting with every sound, yet he couldn't bring himself to get any quieter as the pleasure crashed into his body in waves.
"Tamaki! F-Fuck!" Mirio whined out, pressure causing his muscles in his legs to tighten, eyes scrunched closed as his chin hit one of Tamaki's shoulders. All too sudden, he was thrown over the edge, giving a loud groan as his fists clenched, body trembling as he had spent himself.
His eyes burned as tears built up at the overstimulation Tamaki was putting upon him by forcing his hips to still move into the raven. It was so painfully addicting, and Mirio only gave soft, broken moans at the feeling. A short bit later, Tamaki gave a low, growling moan of Mirio's name as he finally finished himself, slowing Mirio's hips to a slow gyration before stopping.
Tamaki was gasping for breaths, hands still clutching onto the blond's hips. Mirio was grateful for the cease in movement, overstimulation almost becoming too much for him. His face was wet from the tears that fell at the painfully arousing feeling of getting used, and he was just content to sit there and huff breaths in and out, lungs shaking from what had just happened.
"F... fuck.." Mirio exhaled after a deep breath, pushing himself up so he wasn't deadweighting on the other. Tamaki's hands let go of his waist, and Mirio could tell by the feeling that he was definitely going to be bruised. The raven's hands gently moved up the other's body before cradling his face, feeling the dampness there.
"Oh fuck, Mirio, I'm so sorry!" Tamaki's words were airy and deep, but sounded panicked. "For what?" Mirio asked softly, nuzzling into one of the hands as he took in another deep breath. "I-I took more than you offered, and I-I wasn't paying attention and-" "Tamaki, shh.." Mirio hushed the other, who immediately clamped his mouth shut.
"It's okay, Tamaki. I enjoyed it a lot," "... really? You sure?" Tamaki double-checked, concern laced in his voice. Mirio cleared his throat, "Listen, and I'll say this once, okay? That was the hottest thing that has ever happened to me. I enjoyed myself, trust me.. a little too much."
"I-I lost control and I-I was making you move and-" "I loved it, Tamaki," Mirio admitted, feeling a blush heat up his face. "W-What?" Tamaki asked incredulously, thumbs massaging the other's cheekbones. "Look, It... I don't know. I liked being handled like that?" "... why?" Tamaki was genuinely curious, feeling the temperature shift in the other's face due to the blushing.
"There's.. hmm.. There's not really an explanation? Maybe it's because I'm strong, and being manhandled... controlled by you.. I- I don't know.." Mirio tried to explain as tiredness was enveloping his mind. "It's okay. I-I'm glad you enjoyed it, at least. I liked it, too," Tamaki mumbled, Mirio humming in response as his head began to steadily lean on one of Tamaki's hands from him trying to fall asleep.
"H-hold on, Micchan, we gotta clean up first," Tamaki stated, Mirio only groaning as he rolled off of the raven. "Here, I'll leave for a second to fix myself up in my own room. I'll leave the door cracked for light. I'll be back in a few, promise," Tamaki whispered the words as he slowly got out of bed, Mirio barely seeing his silhouette as he slid out of the room. Mirio gently smacked his face a few times to wake up, getting up and moving to the connected bathroom to clean himself up.
It was only a few minutes later that he was back in bed, laying in the spot Tamaki was in so he could be in the warm spot on the covers. The room was chilly, no thanks to the large window that was already gaining moisture from the coldness outside. Him being in only pajama pants didn't help.
The light from the hallway increased a split second before the room was enveloped in darkness again, Tamaki messing with something by the bed before crawling back into the covers, gently nudging Mirio away from where his spot was. "But it was warm.." Mirio muttered tiredly, body shiverring as a large blanket was thrown on top of both of them.
"I brought my heated blanket," Tamaki quietly stated, pulling in Mirio close as the blanket slowly started warming up, the wires inside the fabric buzzing to life. Mirio hummed, cuddling into the raven, giving the other's neck a small kiss before closing his eyes and getting comfortable.
Chapter 5: Five
Chapter Text
A phone rang throughout the room, both men waking up slowly. "Answer it," Tamaki groaned, hiding his face under the heated blanket when sunlight hit his eyes. Mirio turned to the nightstand that was on the right side of the bed, blindingly reaching his hand over to grab the phone.
He blinked sleep out of his eyes as he saw the caller ID. "Hadou?" He mumbled, yawning into the room around him as the girl started a rant. He barely registered that the back of his throat hurt like a bitch, and was just glad that his voice didn't sound worn out due to it. "There's classmates coming up to me and asking what's going on with you two. Apparently whatever 'activities' you did last night were loud, because they keep-" Mirio hung up with a whine, tossing his phone off the bed and onto the floor as he sank into the sheets.
The warm blanket covering him felt heavenly as he tried to fall back asleep, only for Tamaki's phone to start ringing. "It's her, isn't it," Mirio huffed, Tamaki coming out from his hiding spot under the blanket, eyes squinted and he leaned over to look at his phone that was on the floor. "Ah.. yeah. Not answering that," Tamaki mumbled, turning back to slump into the soft mattress as he laid to face the blond.
The two stared at each other for a few seconds before they both started blushing. "Were we really that loud?" Tamaki whispered, Mirio giving a nervous grin. "I mean, I did try to quiet you a few times, but.." "But what?" Tamaki questioned, watching the blond's face deepen into darker shades of red.
All Tamaki remembered was losing himself into the feeling of his boyfriend soon after Mirio quieted his voice with a kiss. Though, he also definitely recalled Mirio moaning louder and louder with every passing second. Mirio ended up being the louder of the two in the end.
"Ah..." Tamaki responded after a second, Mirio looking down at the red covers to avoid looking into indigo irises. "I've never.... done something like that before," Tamaki admitted to his boyfriend, the other raising an eyebrow as he looked back up. "Well, yeah I would think so, but-" "No, like... anything like that. Even um..." the raven trailed off, Mirio's eyes widening as he realized what the other was trying to get at.
"You lasted all of your teenage years without doing that once?" Mirio gave a small chuckle, eyes closing in mirth. "Though, knowing you, I'm not too surprised." "Is that supposed to be an insult, Micchan?" Tamaki questioned slyly, shuffling a bit forward to be closer to the other.
"N-No! Not at all! I think it's actually admirable, not fixating on something like that and instead focusing on studies, and your future and uh.." Mirio struggled to finish the words as the raven kept inching closer and closer. "Mhm?" Tamaki hummed back, being close enough to lean forward ever so slightly and give a short kiss to his boyfriend.
Mirio blushed once again, shuffling his body before pain blossomed around his waist, giving a grunt as one of his eyes squinted in response to the feeling. "Are you okay?" Tamaki was quick to switch emotions, concern lacing his expression as he reached out to gently grab one of the blond's arms.
Mirio sucked a breath through his teeth as he gently maneuvered himself until he was comfortably laying on his back, "Y-yeah, it's just my hips and waist, it's fine, really!" "Mirio, let me see," Tamaki demanded, sitting up and looking down at the other, who only sighed. The raven pulled the warm blanket off of both of them, eyes widening as he saw the light bruising circling around tanned skin just above the hem of his pajama pants.
"You didn't fucking tell me I was hurting you?" Tamaki asked, a horrified expression on his face as he covered his mouth with a hand, fabric of his oversized, blue t-shirt scrunching with the movement. "Tamaki, listen-" "Mirio, you're supposed to-" "Hey!" Mirio yelped, voice a higher pitch than normal as Tamaki froze, eyes locked on the color blue.
"It didn't hurt at the time, Tamaki, believe me. I already told you I enjoyed what happened a lot more than I probably should have," Mirio quickly stated the words, face heating up once again as the other kept staring at him. Tamaki swallowed a breath, remembering how embarassed Mirio was when admitting he found Tamaki's actions arousing.
"I really didn't feel it, Kiki. I would have told you if otherwise," Mirio whispered, a soft smile on his face as he awkwardly fidgited with his arms, somehow feeling more on display than ever before. "I-I just... I don't.." Tamaki responded, confusion still fogging his mind before seeing the way Mirio's eyebrows looked.
He noticed it as the other being uncomfortable, and he pulled the warm blanket back over them both. Mirio only nodded at the man who was still sitting up, "You don't understand, I know. You don't really need to, I-it's just what I'm into. Our um... turn-ons... won't necessarily be the same." The voice was shaky, the words even embarassing for Mirio to say.
"Besides, did you even feel how rough I was up here?" Mirio switched the subject, hand reaching up to gently poke one of the deep bruises that had formed on Tamaki's neck. Tamaki flinched at the sharp stab of pain, but then felt himself blush when he realized what that meant. "Are they um..." "In a spot that can be covered by most shirts? Um.... no?" Mirio nervously answered, waiting with baited breath on the other's response.
Amajiki huffed, "I suppose it's fair.." as he laid back down next to the blond, turning to Mirio only to shuffle a bit closer, pulling the other in. Mirio grunted as he was pulled towards the other and forced onto his side. "Is this okay or do you need to move?" Tamaki asked, eyes flicking down towards the bruising hidden under the blanket.
"It's okay," Mirio insisted, gently bumping his forehead into Tamaki's. "How can you pull it off, Kiki?" "What?" Tamaki was confused at the words, blinking at the other questionably. "Being both adorable and hot at the same time!" Mirio laughed, Tamaki only shoving him away slightly with his own laugh.
"Depends. You being all shy and embarassed is a big shift in my perspective from the tall, hot man I see everyday," Tamaki mused, sweetly leaning closer as he fluttered his eyelashes a bit. Mirio choked on his laugh, eyes wide as he reached a hand up to cover Tamaki's eyes, those indigo irises doing things to his mind. "H-hey.." Tamaki mumbled, pushing away the hand to see Mirio's face dusted in a light pink.
"I'm so lucky to have you, Micchan.." Tamaki whispered, lifting a hand to caress the other's cheek, gently holding it as his pinky rubbed against the base of his neck. Mirio only grinned back, "not as lucky as I am to have you, Kiki. You don't understand how much you mean to me."
Tamaki shook his head, "I definitely could. You're the only one who stayed with me even though I didn't talk much. You helped me with my anxiety, and you push me to be a better version of myself. I wouldn't be who I am today without you, Mirio..."
The blond felt himself tear up, giving his boyfriend a wavering smile. "Y-yeah. You're my motivation to keep going, Tamaki. I've consistantly given up on my abilities throughout the years, and you were the only reason I kept pushing myself. I also couldn't be where I am now without you."
The boys were emotional messes, a couple tears rolling down their faces as they smiled at each other. It was only after a few minutes of crying and gentle kisses later that Tamaki's stomach gave a loud, garbled noise.
Mirio broke the soft kiss with a laugh, "Should we get some food?" "Delivery, maybe?" Tamaki suggested, snuggling up somehow closer to the other. Mirio nodded, pulling away from his boyfriend reluctantly to turn around and lean halfway off of his bed to grab his phone off the floor.
"Damn, it's already one," Mirio stated as he rubbed stray tears off his face, Tamaki's eyes widening at the words. "What? really?" He questioned, leaning back into the blond to look at the time on the other's phone screen. "Mm, yeah. Did Hadou leave you a message?" Mirio asked as he opened a food delivery application, Tamaki moving to pick up his own phone from the ground.
"Ugh, yeah.." Tamaki sighed, pulling his phone up to his ear as he laid back into Mirio's side, both of their backs flush with the mattress as they watched the restaurants pop up on the blond's phone.
"Hey Jiki! Your man hung up on me. Found out at lunch from Kirishima and Uraraka that you two went on a date yesterday, so congrats! Who asked who, and what happened? I need to know the details, babe! You can't leave your sister hanging like this, it's devastating! Haya said she was studying in [male classmate]'s room next to Togata's room. Apparently they had to move to the common area downstairs because a couple of boys were being a bit too loud. I'm not upset, nor is Haya, we just hope you wore protection, is all! Talk to me later, I'm dying to hear from you guys!" Nejire's voice practically shouted into the voicemail, the message coming to a quiet end as Tamaki pulled the phone away from his ear.
"Ah, maybe we were a bit much..." Mirio awkwardly laughed, scrolling back up to the top of the list. "Everyone knows.." Tamaki's voice wavered, placing his phone on the bed to his left as he hid his face in Mirio's shoulder. "Y-yeah... I knew they would at some point but...." "Not like this.." Tamaki practically sobbed, covering himself in the heated blanket, half of Mirio covered in the warmth, too.
"Mm. the blanket feels so nice, I might just sleep again," Mirio said it as a joke to divert from the conversation, but then felt his eyes get heavy. "I mean, I don't exactly have anything to do today," Tamaki stated as he came out from hiding, indigo meeting blue in a gentle gaze. "Mhm. Here, you pick," Mirio responded, handing the phone to the raven, who immediately took it and selected a restaurant before pressing his order into the cart quickly.
It was only a matter of seconds before his phone was being handed back to him, "Damn, already knew?" Mirio laughed, taking the phone back as scrolling through the menu of the place Tamaki had chosen. "I mean... you are talking to someone who eats certain foods everyday," The raven responded, Mirio realizing the place Tamaki had picked was the restaurant with Tamaki's favourite Takoyaki.
He read the food in the cart, seeing an order of Takoyaki, Teriyaki chicken, and a side of fried clams. "Do you usually eat the same things everyday? Is there something you enjoy that normally isn't useful with your quirk?" Mirio asked, curious as he went back to the menu and ordered himself some veggie spring rolls and crab rangoons.
"Hmm... I mean, a lot of stuff, yeah. I enjoy just regular rice with eel sauce, shrimp... y'know, there's not much I don't like. I try to stick with the easiest, most versatile things when it comes to my quirk, though," Tamaki explained as Mirio sent in the order, making sure the map was visible, knowing he'd have to pick it up at the campus entrance when they were nearby.
"I'll get the food," Tamaki stated, wrapping his arms fully around Mirio's left arm. "You've been very touchy recently... and you don't have to go get the food, I don't mind," Mirio said softly, looking down at Tamaki.
"It's alright, I'll just fly to the entrance. It'll minimize the time of either one of us being in the cold, anyway. Is... is me touching you a bother?" Tamaki questioned, loosening his hold on Mirio's arm as he looked away at the wall. "N-no! Not at all Tamaki! You know I always love physical contact.... it's just new for you to be initiating it, is all," Mirio felt a blush creep up onto his face, moving his arm from both of Tamaki's only to hold one of his hands, fingers entwined tightly.
"Ah... y-yeah... I don't know what's gotten into me.." Tamaki muttered, squeezing his hand as he gazed at Mirio's phone to see where the order was at. "I think I just.... feel more comfortable doing it? I mean, I couldn't at all without me thinking about all this.... relationship stuff before. I guess I thought everyone would see everything differently if I suddenly started letting myself be touch-starved."
"Before..? How long have you been thinking about.. relationship stuff?" Mirio asked, reaching up with his free hand to rub the back of his neck nervously, "because I've been into you since the end of middle school."
"W-What?" Tamaki's eyes were wide as he looked up at the other, eyes immediately darting away again, "S-same... That day we were walking home... you told me that the only reason you were able to get that far in training your quirk was because I was there with you. After that, you were still as bright as the sun, but It's almost like I was seeing you in a new light. You praised me for praising you, which for once made me feel like I wasn't completely worthless. I was pathetic up until that point. Yes, I was working hard to furthen my own quirk's abilities, but I didn't have the right motivation. Knowing that me progressing in turn made you progress? I spent all my free time training."
"Huh... Our times weren't too far off then," Mirio laughed, "It wasn't too long after that when you came to me with ideas on our hero costumes. You offered to help craft a suit of my own hair, and I had readily agreed, knowing that if anyone had ideas to further my skills as a future hero, that it was you. You were, right, of course, and now that outfit is the most prized thing I own. You always see the things I don't, and it never fails to amaze me. Don't know why that was the moment for me, but I couldn't seem to tear my thoughts away from you after that."
"Hmm..I miss your hair, though." Tamaki mumbled, eyes glancing at the map once more before prying himself off of the other, stretching his back as he stood up from the bed. Tamaki walked over to the corner of the room with the pile of clothes that Mirio needed to wash soon. Not necessarily dirty, but clothes he's worn the past week, and definitely cried in.
Tamaki pulled out a yellow hoodie, immediately pulling it over his head to clash with the purple and white checkered pants he had on. "T-Tamaki?" Mirio stuttered, small bead of sweat forming on his forehead as he watched the other open the balcony doors after slipping on the article of clothing. "I'll be right back," the raven spoke before he rolled up his sleeved, having wings sprout from his forearms before jumping off the side of the balcony, Mirio forcing his rapid heartbeat to slow down. He's okay, Mirio, he's okay...
"He misses my long hair?" Mirio suddenly questioned out loud to himself, reaching up to touch the short, blond strands on the back of his head. He decided to ignore his incoming thoughts in favour of opening his contacts app and calling back his friend, brain too foggy to realize that Hadou called during a passing period, and was currently in class.
A couple of rings went through before a voice finally answered, "Togata, I was in class! Don't you know when the proper time to call back is?" Nejire grumbled over the call, Mirio only giving a short, nervous laugh. "Heh.. yeah, sorry. I apologize for hanging up on you, too. I um..." "Hey, it's okay. Didn't'ja know though, that it's incredibly rude to ignore a friend who wants to talk?"
"I'm sorry, I had Tamaki next to me on the bed and I-" "Okay, cut the extras. Did you guys have sex last night?" "W-Why is that your first question?!" Mirio exclaimed, face turning a dark red. "Because I like details!" "Th-that's a little bit too much detail, even for a friend! But.. no, we didn't," he finally stated, the girl practically whining on the other side.
"Whaaaaat?! From how Haya explained it, you two were having some heavy moments and you especially were loud and-" "Look! It- it wasn't that, okay? I-I didn't mean to disrupt other people, I was just.." "In the moment? Okay, so then was it close to sex?" She questioned, the blond zipping his mouth as his mind replayed events from last night.
"I'm taking that as a yes. Oh, I'm so happy for you guys! I just know Tamaki will-" "Stop talking about it," Mirio whined as Tamaki had landed back on the balcony, walking in with a raised eyebrow at his boyfriend's cherry red face.
Tamaki motioned to the phone, mouthing out the word 'Nejire?' as he closed the balcony doors behind him. Mirio nodded before his 100% call volume ratted him out. "I never knew you'd be the screamer in the bedroom, Togata! You being the vocal one wasn't something I expected!"
Tamaki's cheeks puffed up in a silent laugh as Mirio paled, expression one of absolute mortification. "Though, I guess it makes sense due to you being the one to always talk while Tamaki is-" Mirio couldn't even think as he hung up on Nejire again, flipping his body over quickly to bury his face in the bedding with a loud groan. "Hey, it's okay," Tamaki tried to comfort the other, but his laugh kept slipping through between each word, making Mirio feel even more embarassed.
"There's nothing wrong with it, Mirio," Tamaki's laugh faded, his sickeningly sweet voice cutting through the quiet. The raven set the food on the bedside table, proceeding to reach for his boyfriend to flip him over while leaning in.
"Besides.." Tamaki whispered, hand holding Mirio's chin still as he moved into the blond's space, the other's red face not moving one bit. "I love hearing how I make you feel," Tamaki purred, watching Mirio's eyes waver, his mouth twitching as the blush somehow spread down to the blond's neck.
Tamaki was gone as soon as he came, leaning back to immediately start opening the bags of food after he carried them over to the table on the ground. He crossed his legs as he sat on a pillow, curiously looking up at the other, "You eating?"
"I-I..." Mirio's voice was small, yet the blond got off of the bed and made his way to the other side of the table, sitting down across from Tamaki. The raven was surprised, he had thought Mirio would bury his face, or even stay in bed to collect himself for a couple of moments. Mirio just reached over to open a few boxes until he found his eggrolls, taking one and biting into it as he made sure not to look at Tamaki once.
Tamaki puffed out a laugh through his nose at the toddler-like behavior, grabbing chopsticks from the main bag to begin eating his portion, which was significantly more than Mirio's. He knew he ate a lot more than the other, but he also knew Mirio hasn't been steadily eating the past week. He was just glad he was eating now, and all he can do is make sure Mirio feels better by the day.
Mirio felt his face cool down, the light-headedness steadily leaving his mind as the blood transferred away from his face. He continued taking small bites of his egg rolls and rangoons, looking over every now and then to see Tamaki eating quickly and quietly. He was always fascinated with how much Tamaki could eat in one sitting without feeling nauseous, and it sometimes upsets his own stomach when he sees the food the other inhales.
"You up to train at all today?" Tamaki cautiously asked as he wiped the corner of his mouth with his wrist, glancing over at the blond before focusing back on his food which was almost gone. Mirio choked in surprise, coughing for a few seconds. He took a deep breath after, feeling his arms close around himself a bit, "T-Tamaki, you know I.. I don't.."
"Nothing like that, promise," Tamaki responded with a small smile, trying to ignore the obvious signs from the other's body language that this was something he didn't want to talk about. "I haven't been able to practice hand-to-hand recently. With you, actually. I've been practicing with Kohai for the past couple months. I... I miss it. Plus after-..." Tamaki shook his head, thinking over his words as the blond's eyebrows were narrowed, as if waiting to be reminded.
"You've learned a lot since we last trained together. You're good at knowing the opposing people's moves, and you're a lot faster than I am at decyphering the actions of opponents. I want to be able to be good at melee, if the worst ever happens," Tamaki finished, Mirio's eyes darting around the room. It was out of nervousness or anxiety, Tamaki figured, since he did the same thing. It was still very off-putting to Tamaki seeing these actions performed by his normally cheery, happy friend.
"I-I.. don't make me think you'll be in that situation.." Mirio decided on saying, eyes looking a bit cloudy as he looked at the other from across the table. Tamaki shrugged, "I'm not saying it will happen. I would just like to be prepared. I'm not good at hand-to-hand, and you are. You're the most qualified person to teach me."
Mirio only gave a low hum, taking the last bite from his final rangoon. His eyes were fixated on everything except his boyfriend, gathering their trash and putting it in the small can next to the door. "You don't have to.." Tamaki mumbled, Mirio perking up at the way the other sounded so utterly defeated.
From Mirio's perspective, Tamaki looked... disappointed? He knew that probably wasn't what it was, but Mirio had never seen that look directed at him, so it was shocking. "I... fine, just don't look at me like that..." Mirio trailed off, crossing his arms as he shuffled between which leg to stand on, eyes cast down at the floor.
He heard Tamaki stand up and move towards him, jumping as hands came into view before they gently grabbed his bruised waist from above the black fluffy pajama pants. "Hey, look at me," Tamaki mumbled, Mirio's eyes bouncing up to look at the other, face still mostly aimed at the floor.
"You don't have to, Mirio. Yes, I would love to spar with you, but if it makes you uncomfortable or upset, then I would hate nothing more than to put you through that," Amajiki spoke softly, a small, caring smile on his face as his messy indigo hair partially covered one eye.
Mirio was captivated by his beauty in that moment, soft features lit up by the sunlight coming from Mirio's window to his left. Purple eyes gleaming from the light to match the soft shades of his hair, which contrasted with the yellow hoodie. The smile was the cherry on top, and he felt himself tear up knowing that somehow, some way, Tamaki liked him back. That this absolute angel was his, and his alone.
"W-Wha-" Tamaki panicked as he saw the tears form in those bright blue eyes, letting go of Mirio's hips only to hold his hands up nervously, not knowing how to help the other. "Sorry!" Mirio apologized as he reached up to wipe his eyes.
"N-no, I-I was pushing you and-" "It's not that, Tama, really," Mirio sniffed, wrapping his arms around Tamaki's neck- not to pull him in or anything, but just to stand there and hold his boyfriend. "I... I just can't believe I still have you," he admitted, the raven blushing slightly before looking alarmed.
Mirio knew what he was about to mention, and shook his head, "Not because of the past week! I mean, a bit, yeah, but... I've been so... gross recently. I would have thought you'd be pushed away from how stand-off-ish I've been." Tamaki sighed, "Mirio, I've known who you were since we were little. Everyone has their moments, some longer than others, and some later than others. We're still young, emotions are adjusting, and with everything going on, the way you act is justified. It... worries me, to be honest. Though, all I can do is be here for you, and even if you didn't want me around I'd still try anyway."
Mirio sniffed again, feeling his eyes tear up once more as he pulled the other into an embrace, laying his forehead on Tamaki's shoulder, body slumping to help even their heights. "Thank you, Tamaki. Really, You have no idea how much I've needed you the past... ever," Mirio mumbled, body shivering as fabric and cold hands wrapped around his torso.
"I can't imagine it, what you're going through, but I'll be here when you need me. Always, and you can trust me on that. I'm a fighter, Mirio, and I would never leave you alone." Tamaki's soft words echoed through the dorm room, the raven rubbing Mirio's back as the blond choked out a sob.
--
"How are you feeling, Amajiki-Senpai?" Ashido's voice was bubbly as she sat down at the table that Tamaki and Nejire were at. Tamaki swallowed the piece of bread in his mouth, face flushing a light pink. "F-fine." "I'm just glad you got the rest you needed! You look tons better," She grinned. "I wonder why," Nejire winked at the raven, Ashido not blind to the action, nor the small squeak Tamaki gave in response.
"Oh, what happened?" Ashido immediately bounced forward, arms on the table as her eyes sparkled. "Oh nothing much... Just him and Togata," Nejire mumbled the last bit, knowing she was loud enough for the underclassman to hear.
"More lore dropped? I need the tea, asap!" The pink girl exclaimed, a group of three approaching the table soon after. "What's this about lore?" Midoriya asked as he sat down next to Tamaki, looking between the three as Uraraka and Asui joined them. "Thursday lore? And Togata isn't joining us to hear it today?" Kirishima suddenly bounced into view, tray of food practically slamming on the table as Tamaki jumped at the noise. Mirio would sometimes come to school just to sit with his friends at lunch, but he didn't seem to be here today.
"Th-there's no lore.." Tamaki tried to switch the subject, embarassment hot in his face. "Just that you and Togata are officially together," Nejire said slyly, shoulder bumping into Tamaki's. "Really? That's amazing!" Ashido grinned, while Uraraka nodded, "yeah, congrats you two!"
"He's uncomfortable," Asui stated loud enough for the whole table to hear, Nejire dissipating her expression as she looked over at the raven, who was staring down at his food covered in a deep blush.
"Sorry, Jiki. I won't tell anyone else. I keep forgetting you don't like people sometimes," Hadou said quietly, Tamaki nodding back. "I-it's fine... just... personal," he finished, the rest of the group nodding. "Though, I won't say I didn't see it coming. Especially with those marks on your neck," Kirishima stated with a laugh as his own boyfriend sat down next to him and Ashido.
"What's up?" Bakugou asked, eyes flicking between the redhead and the embarassed raven across the table. "Me and Mirio are together," Tamaki stated bluntly, everyone else at the table widening their eyes. "Ah, cool. Fine?" "Yeah, he's getting better." "Let me know if the quirk thing works out in a few weeks," Bakugou finished their small conversation as he picked up his roll, watching as everyone kept staring back and forth between him and Tamaki.
"The fuck you guys looking at?" Bakugou growled, Midoriya yelping at the words, immediately going back to eating his food. Nejire turned to her friend, "I didn't know you guys got along. Tamaki, I'm happy for you making new friends, but... him?" She whispered the last word, raising an eyebrow at her best friend who just shrugged. "We talked a bit at the support office for our suit upgrades."
"Hey speaking of suits, who made your costume, by the way? I'd like them to add some designs to my suit," Ashido piped up, Tamaki's face heating back up. "U-uhm.." He trailed off, legs bouncing under the table due to his rising anxiety.
"Tamaki made his and Mirio's outfits! With some help of course, but he designed them! Cool, right?" Nejire gushed excitedly, the kids around the table all looking amazed. "Oh damn, that's sick! Manly as hell!" Kirishima grinned, punching his fists together. "Fucking idiot..." Bakugou mumbled, elbowing his boyfriend as Kirishima dropped his arms with a wavering smile, nervously rubbing the back of his neck in embarassment. "Nejire.." Tamaki warned, giving a slight glare to the girl who paid him no attention, yet Bakugou had seen the action as clear as day.
"That's amazing, though! Does that mean you came up with idea of your satchels, or Togata-Senpai's outfit being made from his own DNA, or-" "All of the above!" Nejire answered Midoriya for the raven, and Bakugou smacked the table afterwards, "Stop fucking talking about him without his permission. Fuck, you guys are nosy and don't know when to keep your mouths fucking closed."
The table got quiet, save for a small "thank you" from Tamaki, which made Nejire deflate at the words. Asui changed the subject to their most recent exam, the group of first years talking as the older students watched them. "I'm sorry, Jiki," Nejire stated quiet enough for only the other to hear.
"...It's... d-don't worry about it. They were gonna find out some day," Tamaki responded, eyes still stuck on his food as he began eating again. Nejire felt herself flinch back a bit, knowing that Tamaki stopped himself from saying 'it's okay,' meaning she genuinely made him feel upset.
"Okay," she responded softly before standing up to throw away the rest of her food and leave the cafeteria, heading for the hallway to lean against a podium facing the large window as she pulled her phone out.
"Hey, Hadou! What's up?" Mirio's cheerful voice was on the other end of the new call, and Nejire just sighed. "Look, I messed up, Togata." "How so? Is everything alright?" "I made Tamaki feel bad. I couldn't stop myself and kept telling the first years some personal information, and I just... I don't know what to do. Apologizing doesn't help the way I made him feel."
"I'm sure he forgives you, Hadou-San. Tamaki isn't one to hold grudges towards the ones he holds close. You guys have an important friendship, and this won't hurt it, trust me. I will say, though, if you ranted about my personal life I'd probably feel bad, too. I mean I still wouldn't hold it against you, but it would take me time to gain that trust back, if that makes sense?" Mirio explained over the phone, Nejire huffing out a breath.
"I know he's justified in losing trust in telling me things. I, myself, know that I have problems with keeping secrets, but... I enjoy talking about my friends, I can't help it!" "I get it, Hadou, I do. I think you just need to tone it down. Trust me, Tamaki won't like you any less for this. He doesn't like being talked about in general, so I can understand his distaste for the situation. Though, you can't take it back and it already happened, so all you need to do is your best. Just prove you can keep personal information as just that- personal."
"But.." "Hadou, I know you and Yuyu like to gossip, but it isn't a bad thing. It's how information carries, after all! You just need to know what information is okay to share, that's the issue. You don't have many boundaries, while Kiki has a lot of boundaries. Let him speak for himself, at least when it comes to things that aren't already public information. It's okay, Hadou." Mirio finished, and Nejire could hear the smile from over the call. "Yeah, okay... Thanks, Togata. I just... You two finally being a thing after the last couple years of me knowing you guys... It's a lot for me to take in, I basically watched it all happen! I mean, ah, I'm in schoo. I shouldn't be talking so loud about this. Sorry."
"It's fine, no worries! That's the first step, knowing your volume as you speak," Mirio laughed on the other end, Nejire puffing her cheeks up in embarassment. "Meanie. Okay, I gotta go, I wanna get to class early to think over some things. Thank you, and just so you know, Jiki looks incredibly happy today. It's definitely because of you.. but Togata?" "Yeah?" "If you so much as make him feel bad for a single second.... He may be your best friend, but he's also mine," her voice dropped, and she heard the blond give a loud gulp on the other end of the call.
"Y-yeah..." "Bye, Mirio! Talk soon!" Her voice was peppy again as she hung up, Mirio lowering the phone from his face as he felt a bit threatened yet comforted by the fact she finally used his first name. He curled into the heated blanket Tamaki had left for him this morning, closing his eyes to try to will himself back to sleep.
--
The knocks at his door were loud, and Mirio dropped his phone on his bed as he stood up. He quickly switched from shorts into some long sweatpants, cracking open the door as he saw the boy standing outside nervously. "Midoriya?" Mirio asked, tilting his head as he reached up to mess with his unbrushed, unstyled hair.
"Hey, Togata-Senpai... Aizawa-Sensei sent me to come get you. Eri is demanding it's time," The boy looked awkward, hands fiddling in front of him. Mirio's eyes were wide, "wh-what? It's only been like, what.. not even four days since she used her reserves on Tamaki. How could she even.."
"Aizawa stated it's already pretty long. He thinks her horn grows the more she wants to help someone. I'll wait for you outside the dormatory to take you to the room in the support wing we'll be in. Usually we'd use a room in the clinic but there's no room open at the moment. Recovery Girl and a few others will be there," Midoriya explained, green irises filled with bouts of emotions as he straightened up to stare directly into Mirio's own blue eyes.
"And Tamaki? Nejire?" He asked, opening his door further as he headed back into the room to grab a black t-shirt to slip on over his head, scooping up the yellow hoodie that Tamaki had borrowed the day before and wearing that, as well.
"Not too sure. I think Kirishima said something about Hadou-Senpai taking Amajiki-Senpai out to an early dinner as an apology for lunch, or something like that," Midoriya explained as he watched the blond gather his phone and keys before heading out of the room.
"No need to wait, I'm ready. Bummer, I was hoping they'd be able to witness this," Mirio groaned, following the young student out of the dorm. "I understand, they're the two people you're closest to, right? It makes sense you want them with you. Unfortunately, I was the only student who was informed of this, so it's not like it was my place to tell them. I was just the person who was to get you and take you there, and i'll be leaving once you've arrived. I hope it goes well, Togata-Senpai."
--
"You really don't need to do this, Nejire. I said it was fine.." Tamaki mumbled, hands in his uniform's pants' pockets as he walked alongside the girl down the road. Nejire just laughed it off, "no, no Jiki! You'll definitely enjoy this place, it's right up your alley, anyway. I'm surprised you haven't been here before." Her voice got quiet as she glanced over at her best friend. "I know I don't need to, but I want to. You know I feel bad about it."
"Feeling bad won't make it any better. They were going to find out eventually, right? I don't see a problem. You didn't bring up the stuff we did the other night, or any particularly detailed information, so it's harmless," Tamaki explained, eyes widening as he saw the cafe they were approaching- a small square building with an attached outdoor area with benches surrounded by a garden. The arches around the entrances to the guarden and building were covered in vines; no flowers around on the exterior due to the weather becoming so frigid, but he could see vases of flowers in every window around the small cafe.
"Didn't'ja know, that telling me that my feelings are invalid is such a rude thing to do?" Nejire joked with a laugh, "It's okay, I get it, really! Mirio told me the same thing when I called him earlier. Even if you think I don't need to be sorry about it, just accept this as my gift. It's my favourite cafe in town, and I'm hoping it can be yours, too. It's a bit of a walk from campus, obviously since we've been walking for twenty minutes, but.." She trailed off, opening the door for the raven first before following him in. "It's perfect, Nej. Thank you," Tamaki responded quietly as he let the girl lead then to the small kiosk.
"Plus it has these so you don't have to talk to people as much," The blue-haired girl explained excitedly, quickly tapping the screen a few times to input her order before letting Tamaki see the menu. Tamaki scrolled through, mouth watering at all the variety this small place had. He eagerly put in an order for a lobster omelet with a side of takoyaki, and a nice, strawberry boba tea. Nejire placed the order, swiping her card before Tamaki had the chance to move.
"I invited you, so I am paying," Nejire laughed at the shocked expression of the other, pocketing her card and reciept the machine spit out before wandering over to a table that was right next to a large window looking towards the garden. "I would love to bring you here when it's warmer outside, and all the butterflies are back." The raven nodded with a small smile, sitting in the comfy, padded chair as he watched people outside walk down the sidewalk. He loved to people watch, and also loved to just sit and listen to them.
Yes, mostly due to him being shy and reserved, but hearing all the conversations also told him information about things he would never get, otherwise. Such as how he heard Yuyu telling one of their male classmates that she had a crush on Nejire, yet never planned on telling her since she was certain the girl didn't like her back. Tamaki wanted to tell her that it was actually likely that Nejire liked her back, since they seemed to have some sort of unspoken infatuation about each other. Though, it wasn't his place, and he wasn't going to force his two friends into a stressful situation like that so quickly.
Nejire watched the man who stared outside the window. She could tell by the look in her eyes that he was deep in thought, and she chose not to disturb those thoughts, since they caused a small crease to appear above deep purple eyebrows. It must be a serious line of thoughts, then.
"How are you doing on your side?" Tamaki quietly asked, the girl jumping in place. She wasn't used to Tamaki bringing up small talk on his own, yet after the raid on the Yakuza it was like Tamaki had become a new person. "Um.. what?" She was confused, the smile she gave lopsided.
"Um... Such as me and Micchan. Do you have anybody on your end I don't know about?" He asked, training his indigo eyes to meet the light pastel blue eyes. "Aww, you call him Micchan? How cute!" She exclaimed before thinking about the other half of what he said. "Hmm. Not too sure, I don't usually think for myself in that regard... I like to focus on others," She explained, lifting a finger to place on her chin in thought.
Their order was called, and Nejire hopped up to gather the two trays before coming back and placing the food in front of their respective people. "That's so like you, Hadou, to focus on others. I also like to focus on others," Tamaki cut back into the conversation, looking up with a message hidden in the gaze.
"Yeah, yeah..." She groaned, cheeks puffing as she took a sip of her rose milk tea, humming at the taste. She thought about herself, going through all of the people close to her. "I don't think I have anyone, yet, no. I try to avoid thinking about stuff like that for myself since I get a bunch of creepy boys asking me out. These men are stupid, like how many times to I have to explain that I don't like dick?"
Tamaki choked on his own drink, eyes widening as he started to laugh loudly behind a hand. The woman grinned at the sound, loving the fact that Tamaki still enjoyed her company. "Whew.. so no girls then, either?" The raven got back on topic, wiping a tear from his eye. Nejire giggled, "I have gotten a few, actually. None of them interested me, though. I think my body's been trying to drag me in a certain direction but I'm not sure where it's at..."
Tamaki smiled at this, cutting into his omelet. They started to eat, just simply enjoying each other's prescence as they ate their food. "Maybe you have someone and haven't realized it, yet," Tamaki mumbled before feeling a striking pain buzz through his head, and his eyes widened as he paused, fork dropping on the plate and clanking a bit loudly.
"Tama? What's wrong?" Nejire asked as she saw the raven tear up quickly. She looked around, thankful that the others in the cafe paid them no mind. "Do I need to call someone? Is there pain somewhere? what-" "It's Mirio," Tamaki whispered back with a wavering smile, tears falling down his face quickly as he sniffed. "What?" Nejire was confused. Just a second he had frozen with his face scrunching in horrible pain, and now he's smiling while crying?
"He's.... He's back. Fuck, Nejire his quirk is back," He stayed as quiet as he could, voice cracking a bit as he continued to silently laugh and sob all at once. "What? It is? How do you know? I'm lost, Jiki!" Nejire whined, pulling out her phone and spamming the hell out of Mirio's messages, not even recieving a 'read' sign.
"I-I... at the hideout.." Tamaki started, wiping his eyes and sniffing again before taking a deep breath to calm himself down. "I had actually fainted after the fight with the three villains I was against. I had cracked my skull in two places, and that paired with the exhaustion of the fight.." Nejire was somehow even more perplexed, "but you found Mirio?"
"Yeah, I know. I woke up to a sharp pain in my head, it was unlike anything I had ever felt before. The only thing that went through my mind in the haze was Mirio, and I think I somehow knew he um... lost his quirk? I'm not sure how, but I let my legs lead me and all of a sudden I stumbled across him in a hallway." Tamaki shivered, remembering how he felt, half awake and lucid as he saw his best friend laying in a pool of blood.
"I was told that the place was a maze in there. Do you know what it was?" Nejire asked, tilting her head, desperate to understand what was going on. Tamaki shook his head, and Nejire groaned. "Tamaki, why didn't you tell anyone?" "What was I supposed to do? Let them test on me and Mirio to try to figure out what it was that made me wake up from what would have been a coma? What made me know that he had lost his quirk and that he needed to be found? I don't even remember walking there, so whatever woke me up knew exactly where he was," Tamaki's voice was strained, eyes narrowed as he continued talking.
Nejire blinked a few times, taking in the expression of the other. "You know, it could just be your bond." "Huh?" The raven's posture faultered. "You know, your bond. You've been friends since childhood, right? Maybe you guys are just so close that it's instinct to know the other's health and such. It doesn't have to be something scientific, or even something to be proven. It's what saved Mirio, and I think because of that it saved you, too."
The words were still a bit confusing to understand, but Tamaki tried to dissect the meaning. Were him and Mirio so close that it was just something that happened because of their bond? "I mean, Jiki, you know when you get the feeling that something isn't right? When you get a bad feeling that just won't leave? Maybe it's like that, just tied to Togata," She further explained, the raven nodding slowly.
"I-I guess.... I wish I could go to him but I'm not sure where he is.." Tamaki mumbled, looking back down at his food. Nejire laughed, "well, we know eventually he'll be back in his room! Let's eat then head back." Tamaki nodded, lifting his fork to continue eating his omelet, paying no mind when Nejire immediately started typing on her phone quickly after it gave a loud ding.
--
Mirio was laughing and crying all at once as he held the girl in his arms. "A little tight," Eri laughed, the blond letting go and immediately giving a wavering apology, grin wide on his face as he watched the girl stand back up straight in front of the chair Mirio was sitting on.
"An amazing turn of events," Nezu clapped before giving a goodbye, heading out of the room quickly. Aizawa and Hizashi both stared at Chiyo, who only nodded at them once before leaving as well. "This means so much to me, Eri," Mirio huffed a laugh, wiping his eyes as he watched the silver-haired girl nod from right in front of him, red shining eyes pairing well with the orange sweater she had on.
"Of course, Lemillion, I had to help you! My top priority.." her voice wavered as her eyes lidded, yawning loudly. "Alright, definitely time for a nap," Hizashi stepped in, picking up the girl after pushing his long hair behind his shoulders. It was always a suprise to see the blond wearing his hair down, yet something tells Mirio that Aizawa and Eri see him like this all the time.
"Here, this was buzzing like a maniac earlier. You also get some rest, you look a bit worn out from the quirk's effects, too." Aizawa's voice was quiet as he handed the third-year his phone that he had discarded on a nearby table. Mirio nodded in thanks as the three left him in the room alone.
Nejire: Hey what's going on?
Nejire: Tamaki said your quirk is back
Nejire: Is it? Is it?
Nejire: He's really freaking me out
Mirio was just as confused as she was. Did Midoriya tell Tamaki, perhaps? Then why didn't Nejire know if they were out together at a restaurant?
Mirio: Yeah but who told Tamaki?
Nejire: No one! He told me he felt it
Nejire: looked like he was in some serious pain for a second and then started crying and smiling saying you were back
Mirio: Felt it?
Nejire: He said it isn't the first time. Apparently he felt you lose your quirk in the raid, and so he was able to wake up from a coma instantly and somehow knew exactly where you were
Mirio: What? He didn't tell me that. He said he finished off the villains then headed down to look for where everyone was
Nejire: Said he didn't want to freak anybody out. He was worried he was gonna be given a bunch of tests to figure out how he was able to do it
Nejire: Still, passing out after cracking open his skull twice, then waking up because you lost your quirk? And then navigating all the halls to perfectly find where you were in time?
Mirio: I'll have to talk with him
Neire: Yeah, we are finishing up eating then we'll be headed back there. At least another 30m. Maybe try out your quirk again, have fun! Make sure it still works the same, you know?
Mirio turned off his phone screen, tilting his head in confusion as thoughts ran through his mind. Tamaki's skull fractures and exhaustion would definitely cause him to pass out, yet he had wondered a few times, after being lied to, how he was able to stay awake and fully coherent enough to find him, hold up his weight, and then proceed to detain a fourth villain. But for the raven to wake up from a possible would-be coma because he lost his quirk? What kind of sense was that?
Mirio shook his head, knowing he couldn't be asking these kinds of questions to Tamaki. Tamaki himself wasn't even sure how or why it happened, so it's not like he'd be able to get any proper answers on the situation any way.
--
"Open up, Mirio!" Nejire shouted from the other side of the door, the blond jumping from his spot on the bed. He was just fiddling with his quirk, seeing if he still had perfect control by individually phasing a single finger through the bed sheets and such.
"Okay, okay," Mirio laughed loudly, pulling his black shirt down to cover the part of his waist that was peaking out. He stepped towards the door before opening it, immediately getting rammed into by a strong embrace.
"W-Woah!" He exclaimed, arms wrapping around the raven to help re-balance himself on his feet. "Hey, are you-" Mirio's words were cut off by an extremely quiet sniff, yet he could hear it as clear as day. He hugged the other a bit tighter, feeling his own eyes tear up as he laid his chin on the smaller's shoulder.
Nejire quietly waved with a big smile as she reached forward to pull his dorm room's door closed, her footsteps quickly leaving down the hall. Mirio knew she wanted to speak with him, but was grateful she left them alone right now.
"I'm okay, Kiki," Mirio mumbled a few minutes later when Tamaki quieted down, sniffs and sobs out of his system. "I know. I know, and that's why I'm happy," Tamaki's voice cracked as he pulled away from the broad chest, smiling up at blue eyes with his own glistening purple orbs.
Mirio paused, once again struck by the beauty that was Tamaki in the sunlight, and could only smile back. "S-sorry... for uh... smacking myself into you like that," the raven apologized, eyes now focused on their feet under them. Mirio only laughed, "It's alright! I always enjoy it when you keep me on my toes."
"Though, did you um... do you know how...?" "I-I don't know... Nejire said it could be numerous things like how close we are... also mixed with a scenario of when you get a bad feeling about something... or something like that, any way. I'm just as confused as you are, if not more," Tamaki responded quickly, looking back up at Mirio, yet his eyes seemed distant.
"Can you.." Tamaki started to ask, trailing off as he became too embarassed to finish the words. Mirio chuckled, reaching to unfurl Tamaki's arms from around him. Once off, he made to grab one of Tamaki's hands, purposefully using his quirk to slip through the raven's fingers before pulling his hand back again.
Tamaki laughed lightly, taking initiative to grab both of Mirio's hands tightly. He looked back up into blue iris' that were also gleaming from unshed tears. "I love you, Mirio," Tamaki whispered, forcing himself to maintain eye contact while saying something so personal.
Mirio's eyes widened, more tears forming as he surged forward to kiss the raven. He ended with swiping his tongue across Tamaki's mouth before he pulled away. He gently tapped their foreheads together, closing his eyes as he responded with a quiet "I love you too, Tamaki."
Mirio gasped as he was suddenly thrown in a circle, grunting as his legs were swept out from under him, his back slamming against the door. His eyes shot open, seeing the flushed face of his boyfriend in front of him.
Tamaki had lifted his legs and pinned him against the door, having manifested a couple of octopus arms to slide under Mirio's ass to hold him up better; as if making him a seat in the air. Mirio opened his mouth to ask a question as he placed his hands on Tamaki's shoulders, but grunted again when Tamaki's mouth was back on his, tongues meshing together in a familiar dance. Mirio gave a loud moan into the kiss when his boyfriend's hands on his thighs gripped harder, nails digging into the skin from over his pants.
Mirio felt his body heat up fairly quickly, and he was easily getting more and more aroused the longer he was in this position. Tamaki pinning him to the door while standing directly in between his legs, the tentacles that writhed below him; the tips of them gently tapping the skin under the hem of his shirt yet never fully latching on. Mirio was all too aware of how loud their kissing was, yet he only embraced the sounds, pulling back for a breath before leaning back in.
The feeling of Tamaki's tongue sliding against his was intoxicating. It was like an addiction with how much he craved the sensation, and just thinking about it caused him to moan into the kiss, Tamaki giving a rumbling groan back.
Mirio shivered as he felt two more squirmy arms wrap around his legs so Tamaki could move his hands up. Tamaki grabbed the blond's hands off of his shoulders before also pinning those on the door on either side of Mirio's head. Mirio's mind was fuzzy, dizzy with arousal as he pulled back from their heated make-out session with a pant.
Tamaki quickly leaned down to attack Mirio's neck, kissing and biting and sucking the skin there as the blond could only quietly moan into the room around them. Blue eyes shot open as one of the tentacles around his waist trailed further up, squirming between the door and his back and then up to the base of his neck before he felt multiple sucking-sensations blossom from the length of his spine, the feeling surging up and down his body.
He gave a choked breath when another snaked into his pants to coil around his dick tightly. It was the first time Tamaki had ever fully touched him in that area, and it affected him as much as he thought it would. His body shuddered violently as those suction cups skimmed across his cock, the ridge-like pattern of them only adding to the feeling of oversensitivity. It was overwhelming. Tamaki canted his hips forward, pushing more pressure onto Mirio's heated length just as that octopus arm that was wrapped around him let their own suckers latch on.
The second after those suction cups had gripped him, Tamaki gave a sharp bite into a patch of skin between multiple tendons on the side of his neck. It was a lot for Mirio to take in while already being overstimulated, and he felt himself twitch in his sweatpants as he gave a moan that was entirely way too loud as his orgasm crashed into him at full force with no warning. Tamaki had paused his movements, and Mirio gasped for air desparately, face increasingly turning red as he was both embarassed and mortified at what just happened.
His body shuddered through his high, eyesight almost becoming white before darkening again. He knew he had been insanely turned on, but he was not expecting to finish that early or quickly. Or by barely even being touched, for that matter.
Mirio's hands and legs were still unable to move, so all he could do was stand there with a bright red face and watery eyes as Tamaki pulled back to look at him with his own look of shock, tentacle leaving from around his length swiftly. "You-" "Don't" Mirio pleaded as he looked to the side, permeating a hand from Tamaki's grip so he could properly cover his eyes.
"Hey, none of that," Tamaki mumbled, pushing his hips fully into Mirio's to help keep him up as he let go of Mirio's other hand. Mirio keened at the feeling of overstimulation from the movement, hand falling from his face as he leaned forward to hide his face on the raven's shoulder.
"Oh god I was... Did I? Oh no, oh no..." Tamaki started to quietly panic, the rest of his tentacles receeding as he gently dropped Mirio onto the floor, Tamaki sliding down with him so Mirio didn't have to move his head. Mirio slumped back against the door, feeling his knees ache from their position of being bent and tucked into Tamaki's sides.
"I didn't ask permission and I just did that and... shit, Mirio, I'm-" "Shh..." Mirio shushed the other boy, eyes closed as he tried to ground himself. He thought about the situation, and there wasn't an easy thing to say to fully ease Tamaki. the raven was panicking as he realized how forceful and unforgiving he had been, while Mirio was absolutely humiliated by his own stamina.
"Can... Can you get me on the bed?" Mirio huffed out a deep breath, the airy words being heeded quickly as there were suddenly arms and tentacles lifting him off of the ground. He was gently placed on the edge of the bed, Tamaki now standing between his legs as he looked down at the blond with concerned eyes.
"Okay... I'm sorry, Tamaki. I-I didn't realize that I was.. uhm..." He stuttered, not finishing his sentence as he felt the blush return at full-force, head becoming dizzy once more. "N-no, I'm sorry for not asking and-" "Kiki, shh.. It's alright. Give me a second... I gotta clean up and.. whew," he panted out, not knowing how he was so out of breath still. Tamaki only nodded, turning and walking off to Mirio's drawers to start pulling out some clean clothes.
"Do you want to shower?" Tamaki asked, and Mirio immediately thought of them taking a shower together. Mirio wanted it so much; he wanted to smother the raven in love and affection by scrubbing his hair, gently washing him, and maybe even giving him some kisses amongst the warm stream of water.
His face must have given it away, because Tamaki turned to the side quickly with his own blushing face. "N-not..." He mumbled, mouth wavering as he turned to walk towards the bathroom. "S-sorry! I know you didn't mean it like that," Mirio replied softly, groaning as he stood up on his aching legs.
He groggily walked into the bathroom behind Tamaki who had turned on the showerhead and was letting it warm up. He wrapped his arms around the raven's waist, smiling as he kissed the back of his neck. "Thank you, Tama. Sorry, again, I didn't realize it was going to sneak up on me like that," he awkwardly laughed, glad the other couldn't see his face.
"I-it's okay. I... for a second I could.." Tamaki started to explain, lifting a hand to look at it with a weird look. "Hn?" Mirio hummed out a question, putting his head on Tamaki's shoulder as he also looked down at the hand Tamaki was staring at. "Octopus' suction cups can taste their prey... I think I could taste your pheromones? Or maybe just you... I don't know but it was.." Mirio felt the shiver that rippled through his boyfriend.
"Huh... guess we'll have to test it again soon," Mirio grinned at the choked sound that left Tamaki's throat. "Okay, lemme get cleaned up really quick. Before I pass out on you," Mirio mumbled, blinking his tired eyes a few times in quick succession to try to wake himself up. Which didn't really work.
"Oh yeah. You must be tired from Eri's quirk, too, right? It's okay, we can talk later. I'm kind of in the mood for a nap, too," Tamaki suggested, Mirio only giving a sleepy nod as he started stripping himself. Tamaki squeaked, leaving the bathroom and closing the door behind him.
Chapter 6: Six
Notes:
This is the end thus far of my drunked-writing chronicles. This is an abrupt ending, and there are a LOT of loose ends, but I know it will be a LONG time before I rewrite this into a full storyline. So I figured i'd post it now, and let it fester over time until I finally work/finish it fully.
Chapter Text
Small warning - Depics scenes of throwing up/getting sick
----
It was as if Mirio couldn't catch a break at this point. One moment, he felt like his world was lighting back up, and the next it went to shit again.
He and Tamaki slept the afternoon away, and woke up only to eat a quick meal of more take-out for dinner before passing right back out. Mirio supposes Eri's quirk really did wear him out, since even after his nap all he wanted to do was sleep again, or maybe perhaps it was his depression that he had yet to rid himself of.
Either way, he awoke in the middle of the night to a foreign feeling, but one still obvious enough that he knew what his body was telling him. He shot out of bed, ignoring the pulsing, dizzy headache as he sprinted into his bathroom, barely managing to crouch over the bowl of the toilet before proceeded to throw up.
He wasn't sure how long he was there for, but he knew it was long enough that he was dry heaving at that point, everything in his stomach already expelled. He vaguely felt something rub gently between his shoulder blades, and he just knew that Tamaki was there with him.
Mirio wasn't sure what to do. He felt like apologizing for waking his boyfriend, but he also had a feeling if he spoke it would make him get sick all over again. His throat burned, and his eyes were squeezed closed as tears fell down his cheeks. He coughed a few times, gasping in shaky breaths as he felt his body tremble from the stimulation. He felt like absolute shit, and he was glad that the lights were off. Though, that small sliver of gladness vanished when he realized that Tamaki did in fact eat salmon for dinner, and could probably easily see him right now.
For some reason that activated something in his body, and his stomach flexed once more before he finally felt like his torment was over. His quick breaths filled the quietness around them, heartbeat thudding in his chest rapidly.
"You alright?" Tamaki's deep, quiet voice mumbled, both hands now gently massaging the blond's shoulders and back. Mirio gave a hum, not trusting his scratchy throat enough to talk yet. He bit back a whine when Tamaki pulled away to walk back to the main room, but he let his ears listen intently as a couple of clanking sounds were heard.
Tamaki walked back, and Mirio jumped when the sink loudly turned on, Tamaki muttering a soft "sorry" before the water turned right back off. "Here," Tamaki offered, and Mirio felt the raven gently pull one of his hands off of the toilet and wrap it around something plastic.
He realized it was his water bottle, and he slowly straightened his body up before taking a slow, short drink of the crisp water. It soothed his throat, yet he still reacted with another violent cough, covering his mouth as the sound echoed around them. He sniffed, detaching his other arm from the toilet as he sat on the floor, leaning his back on the bathroom wall as he rubbed the tears from his eyes.
"Do you want to come back to bed or stay here?" Tamaki's soft voice asked another question as Mirio could only look towards where the voice was coming from. The blond jumped again as his free hand was grabbed, eyes trying to search the darkness in front of him to spot his boyfriend, but it wasn't any use.
"Micchan, I need an answer or I'm going to think something is seriously wrong. I will run you to the clinic if I need to," Tamaki insisted, thumb rubbing circular patterns on top of Mirio's knuckles. The blond cleared his throat, "I-I don't know.." he responded, finally feeling his panic start to subside.
"Okay. We can stay here for a bit," Tamaki decided, getting up once more to walk out of the bathroom. Mirio did let out a whine then, drowning the sound with another slow sip of water to help ease his throat and stomach.
"Stop sounding like that, you're making me feel bad," Tamaki joked quietly, entering the room once more before Mirio was told to lean forward for a second. Mirio, although perplexed, trusted Tamaki, and gave a hum of approval when a thin, fluffy blanket was thrown over his shoulders.
Mirio felt an arm snake around his waist as he was gently pulled into Tamaki's side. The blond closed his eyes as he cuddled further into his boyfriend, placing the water down a few feet away from him as he laid his head on the raven's shoulder.
"Any idea what it was caused by? Eri's quirk? Dinner? Something else?" Tamaki's questions were asked in succession, and Mirio had to think about it. Maybe it could be a side effect of Eri's quirk, but he wasn't sure. Midoriya seemed fine after he was rewound, and so did Tamaki. Was it different for rewinding quirks? He supposes he would be the only person to know. He went from feeling so incredibly hollow to feeling complete again within seconds, so maybe it could be a side effect of that? Would it mean anything since he was probably the only person this situation would ever happen to?
"Dunno.." He responded once again, swallowing a breath as he felt his throat scream at him. Tamaki laid his own head on Mirio's as he leaned them both a bit back to have support from the wall behind them again. "Alright. Let me know if you need anything."
--
Mirio blinked his eyes slowly, vaguely registering that he was laying down propped up in his bed. He looked around his room that was now lit up by the morning sun outside. Was Tamaki in class? It was a Friday so it was very likely.
That thought was thrown out the window as his dorm room's door opened, Tamaki entering swiftly before clicking the door closed behind him. He looked up from the bag he was holding, making eye contact with those blue eyes that weren't shining like usual.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Tamaki asked, walking up to the blond. Mirio blinked tiredly, eyes darting to the side before coming back to watch his boyfriend. "Like shit," Mirio meant it as a joke, but then realized he did actually feel pretty gross.
"Yeah?" Tamaki hummed back, shuffling through the bag he placed on the nightstand on Mirio's right, pulling out a small bottle before popping it open. "With a fever of a hundred and two I'd feel pretty bad, too. Here, take this," Tamaki muttered, Mirio slowly opening his palm to recieve the two pills the other gave him. He tossed them in his mouth before taking the water bottle Tamaki held out next.
He swallowed the medicine quickly, Tamaki taking the bottle back to place on the end table. The raven hummed to himself as he reached up, gently taking off the damp rag that Mirio didn't even register was on his forehead. "102? Fuck.." Mirio huffed, right eye squinting a bit as his head throbbed.
"Yeah. Had a call with Aizawa earlier. He thinks it's a side effect of Eri's quirk, since you had a huge part of you shoved back into your body spontaneously," Tamaki explained, walking towards the bathroom to wet the rag with cool water again.
Mirio watched the raven with hazy confusion. How could Tamaki go from giving him the best orgasm of his life to becoming the sweetest, most domestic caretaker one could ask for?
"What's that look for?" Tamaki asked with a small grin, returning to place the cold rag back on Mirio's forehead. "Huh?" Mirio questioned, Tamaki leaning down to place a quick kiss on his nose. "You looked perplexed. Is there anything wrong I can help with?"
"You're amazing, Kiki," Mirio stated honestly, loving the way Tamaki's face became a light, dusty pink. "I'm just taking care of my boyfriend," Tamaki responded with a quick laugh.
"Shouldn't you be in class?" Mirio asked seriously, head tilting slightly as he shuffled under the blankets, realizing he was only in his boxers. Tamaki rubbed the back of his neck, "I mean, yes, but I'm taking care of you."
"You don't have an excused leave for today.. your attendance, Kiki.." Mirio whined, knowing the raven lost his perfect record for him. Tamaki shook his head, "It's fine. And don't you dare blame yourself, either."
Mirio looked to the side, embarassed that Tamaki caught his train of thoughts right as they took off. "I'm sorry..." Mirio mumbled, Tamaki gently smacking himself in the forehead. "What am I going to do with you?"
Mirio was about to make a smartass response, but felt an excessive amount of saliva pool in his mouth again. He widened his eyes, moving to get up. The second he was fully sat up his head throbbed, him giving a grunt at the pain as the wash cloth fell onto the comforter.
Tamaki seemed to know exactly what was going on, so he turned to grab the trash can by the front door, rushing over to hand it to the blond. Mirio wasted no time before lowering his head into the given trash can before getting sick once more.
He was sure after last night he'd have nothing in his system. Luckily, all he had left in his stomach was water, and unfortunately the medication he had just taken. The dry heaving was the worst part, tears stinging his eyes as he felt himself panic again.
After becoming a senior in high school he thought he wouldn't be scared of getting sick, yet this was proof it was false. Throwing up always had made Mirio panic, and he was sure he wasn't the only one in the world to feel that way.
He gagged once more into the can, tears rolling down his face as he sobbed. His body was in so much discomfort and pain, and it was so deeply rooted in his stomach that it was terrifying.
"It's okay... it's alright, Micchan... there you go, you're gonna be fine..." Tamaki's voice was stating a stream of words of which Mirio could barely hear over the sounds of his own sobs, but he was aware of the hand that was rubbing his back once more.
Mirio let himself continue crying, holding onto the small bin for dear life as his stomach wracked in throbbing pain with each breath.
--
"Do you know how long it should last for?" Tamaki was quiet as he spoke on the phone, pacing outside of his boyfriend's room. After his last sick spell, he had forced the other to lay down again, and the blond fell asleep relatively quickly after retaking his medicine.
"We aren't certain. Eri has never heard of her power making someone sick, so we think it's because it dealt with a quirk. It's possible Mirio's body got used to being quirkless, and then it was just shoved into his body again," Aizawa spoke over the phone. "Any new updates?"
Tamaki sighed, "yeah he woke up, took some medicine with water and then threw it all up and cried for about twenty minutes before passing out. His fever still hasn't gone down, I'm really worried about him."
"I would give him a couple more hours. If it hasn't gone down at that point I would take him to Chiyo," Hizashi's voice carried over, Tamaki nodding as if he could see him through the phone call. Eri's voice cut through, as well. "Tell Lemillion I'll bring him bunches of presents to make up for it! With you helping him he'll get better soon, right Kiki?"
Tamaki forced a small smile on his face, "yes, Eri. I'll let him know. I'm sure he'll be fine. His quirk is already a headache to deal with, maybe he used it too soon after getting it back?"
"Unless he also did something exhausting directly afterwards, too. I wouldn't be surprised if he trained after getting it back," Aizawa huffed, Tamaki feeling a blush cover his face. He definitely did something exhausting, all right.
"Alright. I'll keep you updated. It's unlikely she'll have to restore someone else's quirk, but it would be helpful to know the drawbacks," Tamaki mumbled, sharing goodbye's with the family before hanging up with a sigh.
He turned back to Mirio's room, gently opening the door and closing it behind him. It was a little past two, and he gave a small smile towards the peaceful look on Mirio's face. At least he wasn't in pain and distress when asleep, that would have been a problem.
He took a few steps towards the desk, sitting down and pulling his phone out again to mindlessly scroll on news feeds before realizing he needed to inform his mentor he wouldn't be making patrol tonight, either.
He messaged Fatgum with a quick "Mirio's really sick, I'm in charge of nursing him. Won't be there tonight" and immediately was given a call in response. He sighed, side-eyeing Mirio on the bed before accepting the call.
"Hey, Suneater! What's goin' on with Togata?" "Ah, yeah... Eri rewound his quirk back, so he's back to being himself in that regard. Aizawa-Sensei thinks that this is a reaction to Eri's quirk. He isn't too certain, since Mirio is the only one to have this happen, but it's just not a great time for him. He's been constantly throwing up, and he's stuck at a fever of a hundred and two degrees. Very worrying, I'm supposed to watch him for the next few hours to try to get his fever down. If not, then I gotta rush him to the clinic. I'm sorry for dipping out again, Toyomitsu."
"Hey, no worries! Luckily it's not been busy at all, here. Since our raid the villains have been quiet, especially surrounding the pro-heroes that were involved in the incident. Though, a drawback from Eri's quirk doesn't sound too great. Especially bein' constantly sick with a high fever." Toyomitsu replied cooly, and Tamaki was grateful that Fatgum was his mentor.
"Yeah. Hizashi and Aizawa believe his body might have gotten used to being quirkless right when his quirk was restored, so it shot up his body's stress levels. It could also be from everything recently, and how it's been meshing together in his mind. It's hard to tell, but they want me to monitor Mirio for everything so I can give a report on what Eri's quirk's drawbacks can do when it comes to rewinding quirks," Tamaki explained, glancing over at the blond who was now intently watching him in silence from his spot on the bed.
His phone gave a loud beep, meaning another call was coming through. "Ah, I have another call. Sorry, Fat. I'll talk later," "It's alright. Just be safe, and get Togata back to bein' healthy. I'm starting to miss you here!" Fatgum laughed, Tamaki blushing as he hung up, avoiding looking at his boyfriend as he answered the next call.
"Hey, Amajiki-Senpai! How's everything going? Hadou came over to ask us where you were during lunch, and we weren't sure. Said she dropped you off at his room last night and today you weren't in your room earlier," Kirishima's voice spoke, loud chatter in the back as Tamaki could tell he was in the crowded school hallway.
"It's alright. Mirio isn't feeling too great so I'm here with him," He shortly explained, sweat beading on his forehead as he could still feel those blue eyes staring at the back of his head. Suddenly Tamaki heard Kirishima yelp before another voice was on the line, "Hey, asshat. Your costume is finished by the way. Heard Togata got his quirk back, how's he doing? Healing quirk drawbacks are already a bitch to deal with, I can only imagine something as internally imbalancing as quirk-manipulation."
"Ah, Bakugou. Thanks, I'll be in to pick it up soon. And yeah, he's getting there. Definitely a very shitty situation, I don't think I'd survive if I was in the state he's in now," Tamaki ranted, Mirio's eyes widening when he realized he was talking to Bakugou, who had previously made Tamaki pissed off. They were friends, now? Or at least on better terms?
"Yeah... Alright. Yeah, tell 'shima to give you my number. Alright, talk later, and enjoy your weekend. Bye." Tamaki hung up the phone, giving a sigh as he turned to finally make eye contact with Mirio. "Feeling better?" Tamaki asked, hope glinting in his indigo irises as Mirio shrugged. "Not bad, but not really much better.." He coughed out, clearing his throat as the scratchiness bothered him.
Tamaki opened his mouth to respond, but froze when his phone rang again. "What the fuck.." Tamaki said disbelievingly, Mirio giving a short laugh at how exasperated his boyfriend looked. "Hello?" Tamaki answered, pulling the phone back when a loud voice shouted through the speaker.
"Tamaki Amajiki! You're supposed to keep me updated on everything! From Togata becoming sick, to you making him scream so loud that I could hear it from my room! What did you do, let him fuck your throat so hard he-" Tamaki hung up, face a bright red as Mirio snickered from his spot on the bed.
"So, you and Bakugou?" Mirio switched subjects, sitting up as he leaned over to grab the water bottle from the nightstand to drink from it. "Everyone thinks it's weird that we became friends. Well, sort of, we've only talked a few times. More of mutual respect, if anything." Tamaki tried to explain, standing up to walk towards his boyfriend.
"Alright, here," he stated, fishing through the bag of items he bought earlier to pull out an oral thermometer, passing it to the blond. Mirio grimaced, swallowing a mouthful of water as he grabbed the device.
"You two being friends isn't bad, it's just a bit surprising. Midoriya says there's not many people who can get him to be tame enough to become friends with," he described, shoving the thermometer in his mouth under his tongue, resisting the urge to gag as he looked away from the raven, feeling way too vulnerable.
"I can see that. We had a long talk about my quirk the other day. Of course some other things as well, but he seemed very interested in how my quirk works, and I was learning some new things, as well. Can't say I disliked talking about myself for once," Tamaki admitted, looking down at his hand, flexing his fingers as Bakugou's idea sprang into mind.
No. He just got it back, give him time before you test out something. His mind was calm as he spoke to himself, and he gave a smile at the other as he crawled onto the bed, sitting cross-legged on Mirio's right. He looked down, giving a little snort at how Mirio was refusing to look at him with a thermometer sticking halfway out of his mouth.
Tamaki pulled his phone out of his pocket after a buzz echoed, and he saw an unknown number with the message "Hey asshole. Keep me updated. I'm a heartless bitch but I still respect our top student." Tamaki grinned, adding the contact under Bakugou as he pocketed the device, hearing a loud beep a few seconds later.
He snatched the meter out from Mirio's mouth before the other could, Mirio giving a look of disbelief at his boyfriend. "99.8, that's amazing!" Tamaki gave a bright smile to Mirio, who blushed back at how surprisingly blinding the other was while being in front of the lighted window. "Is this what you mean when you call me the sun?" He blurted, squinting his eyes at the raven who's smile immediately fell, eyes shooting off to the side.
"S-sorry," Tamaki apologized, jumping in place as Mirio's hand gripped his own free hand. Mirio gave a small, sweet smile as he raised Tamaki's hand before placing a gentle kiss on his knuckles. Amajiki felt his face heat up quickly, and his blush only deepened when Mirio spoke lowly, "Kiki, don't you ever apologize for being the light of my life."
Tamaki's voice let out a squeak, dropping the thermometer on the bed. Mirio smirked, yanking down Tamaki's arm as the raven stumbled, other arm shooting out to catch him as he was now halfway laying over Mirio. "H-hey.." Tamaki mumbled, feeling his shoulders hunch up slightly as Mirio gripped his hand tighter.
"Don't shy away now, Tamaki! If you managed to act so confident last night, what's stopping you now?" Mirio teased, eyebrows wiggling in amusement as Tamaki scoffed. "You act like I pick and choose when I'm closed-off." "I mean..." Mirio trailed off, giving a light, airy laugh as Tamaki glared at him.
Tamaki let out a sigh through his nose as he leaned in, barely brushing his lips against the other's before he was gently pushed away. "Still sick, Kiki," Mirio warned, Tamaki rolling his eyes, "It's the after-effect of a quirk. You act like it's contagious."
"Okay, fair, but I don't want to sit here and accidentally get sick from you shoving your tongue down my throat. I haven't even brushed my teeth, so I'm disgusting," Mirio explained with a bright pink blush, Tamaki laughing and nodding at the words. "Miri, I could care less about that, as gross as it sounds. As for the first part...Well, that just means I have to play nice," he purred, leaning back in to connect their lips in a soft embrace.
Mirio hummed, gently moving Tamaki until the raven was sitting on his lap. His arms wrapped around Tamaki's waist, pulling him in closer as they disconnected only to start anew, gentle presses of lips smacking in the quiet of the room.
Tamaki's hands had zero clue where to end up. They started on Mirio's chest, then travelled up to grip his shoulders, and then proceeded to hold Mirio's face within his palms, tongues meshing together languidly between their short kisses.
They were like that for awhile, and neither cared about the time passing by as they continued to make out to their own rythym, the world fading away around them. They were enthralled, addicted to each other as they rode the feeling without hesitation, letting their minds fall deeper into their emotions towards each other.
"Hey, are you guys- oh-" A voice spoke as another voice squeaked from the doorway. The boys broke away, Tamaki moving his body to block Mirio as he turned to the front of the room, glare set on the two standing there.
"Do you know how to fucking knock?" Tamaki growled, feeling Mirio slightly shift under him as he kept his heated gaze on Nejire and Kirishima. "S-sorry!" Kirishima yelped, turning his head to the side as he hid behind the upperclassman in front of him. Nejire laughed, "hey, no need to worry! Sorry for not knocking, you know I usually don't."
"Nejire, that doesn't excuse shit. Close the damn door, walk back to the elevator, turn around and come back properly," Tamaki ordered, sighing in frustration as the girl looked guilty before reaching forward to shut the door.
"Damn, look at you," Mirio purred out, hands squeezing Tamaki's hips as the raven looked back at him. "She's got to learn that I'm not going to take that kind of behavior anymore. The last thing I need is her teaching Kohai to do the same thing," Tamaki grumbled, Mirio ceasing his thoughts with another quick press of their lips together.
"That's my big, strong Kiki," Mirio smiled as a soft set of knocks were at the door. Tamaki felt a blush arise as he crawled off of Mirio to stand on the floor. He fixed his own clothes as he looked at Mirio's shirtless form. He thought to himself for a second before shaking his head, turning to walk towards the door.
"Alright, what is it?" Tamaki muttered, opening the door to look at two of his friends. "Sorry, man. We just wanted to check up on you guys. Fat told me you'd be staying in again tonight so I figured the least I could do is visit." Kirishima explained, Nejire still looking like a kicked puppy.
"I'm sorry, Jiki. Really. I just wanted to see you and Togata to make sure he's still alive." Nejire spoke, Tamaki shaking his head, "yeah, because you talking about my sex life loudly over the phone is you being worried."
Nejire deflated further, "Tamaki, I'm just... i'm sorry..." "Look, Neji," Tamaki started, a hand reaching up to hold his forehead as a headache formed. "I get it. You are obsessed with our love lives, but you can't do it in this manner. Asking questions is one thing, but it's when those questions and stuff cross a line. Unfortunately, you always know how to cross it."
"Tamaki, drop it. It's fine," Mirio spoke from within the room, Tamaki opening the door further so the two visitors could see him. Tamaki didn't respond, he just turned to walk back into the room, going back to sitting next to the blond. "Look, Nejire, we love you dearly. You just got some work to do, you know? Maybe take some time to focus on yourself rather than us," Mirio explained, the girl only sighing.
Kirishima cleared his throat, "Anyway, you seem to be doing better than what I was told." Mirio nodded, that uncomfortable feeling crawling up in his throat again. Maybe it's because he doesn't really know the redhead, and that this was one of those people Tamaki was friends with that he might never mesh with. He knows Tamaki also gets extremely nervous around Midoriya, so he supposes it wasn't too out of the ordinary to feel awkward around Kirishima.
"Yeah. Fever is down, and I don't feel as sick anymore... At least right now. I don't know if I can eat for another day or two without getting queasy. Just the thought of eating is... eugh," his body gave a shiver, Tamaki looking a bit concerned. "Damn. Glad the worst of it seems to have passed though. Ah, Amajiki-Senpai, Katsuki said he wanted to talk with you about some quirk-thing you discussed? No idea, he just said to text him as soon as you can or something."
Mirio was intrigued as he looked over at his boyfriend, Tamaki's face heating up as he gave a curt nod. "Sure thing. Yeah. Can you leave now?" Tamaki asked, the two at the door pausing as Mirio let out a loud laugh. "I think your battery is up," Mirio giggled at the end of his spiel, Kirishima chuckling too as Nejire just looked upset.
"Okay. I gotta go anyway, you two have fun," Kirishima waved as he turned and walked off. Nejire looked between both boys before she turned away. She reached forward to grip the door knob, pulling the door closed as her heavy footsteps echoed down the hall.
"You really upset her, Tama," Mirio mumbled, looking over at the raven who was gazing back at him. "I had to," he mumbled, laying down next to the blond as Mirio laid down as well to face him. "Did you, though?" He asked seriously, watching the thoughts run through his boyfriend's features.
"I mean, she needs to know she is making me mad. I can't make her understand unless I stand my ground. Otherwise she'll brush it off. You know her, Micchan. It's just what she does," Tamaki stated, giving a worn out smile to the other. "I suppose so. I like seeing you be all serious," Mirio teased again, Tamaki full of embarassment as Mirio's finger poked his chest jokingly.
--
A week. It's been a week since Mirio got his quirk back. The blond went back to classes starting Monday, and it was hell getting any sort of privacy to himself or Tamaki throughout the school day. One, since he came to school on medical leave to kiss Tamaki, and two, well, he was dating Tamaki. Not to mention their class all knew something even more was going on since Mirio didn't know how to quiet his voice in the bedroom.
Tamaki's nerves were shaky all through the week. Since Mirio had a heck ton of school-work to catch up on, all of the blond's time after school was spent doing work in his dorm room or the school's library. Tamaki had a solid 5 days of classes to only think about his boyfriend, and everything he wanted to do with said boyfriend. Luckily, they didn't seem to be learning anything new since finals were approaching before their winter break.
They haven't even kissed since Sunday, and Tamaki felt like he was getting withdrawls from the sweet taste that was Mirio's mouth and tongue. It didn't take longer than 2 full classes of him thinking about kissing Mirio until Tamaki realized he had a serious oral fixation pertaining to his childhood sweetheart.
He supposes it's due to his quirk, since he always grew up either chewing on gum, or sucking on mints and lollipops. He just enjoyed having something in his mouth for his tongue to mess with, and when he had the pleasure of kissing Mirio deeply for the first time, it reactivated that need of his that he thought he left behind in middle school.
He was bouncing with energy Friday morning when Mirio asked if he could spend the night with him after school. He was finally caught up on his work after non-stop diligently cramming weeks of missed information into four days. He accepted the offer, of course, yet his heart leaped out of his chest when he remembered that he had patrol tonight with Fatgum.
Mirio understood, and just said he'd wait until Tamaki got back. This only made Tamaki more impatient to shove his tongue down Mirio's throat, and apparently his buzzing energy disturbed the redhead during that evening's patrol across the Esuha streets.
"Hey, what's going on with you today? You seem... off," Kirishima asked, head tilted as his eyes were narrowed towards the older male. "I-I'm fine," Tamaki muttered back, feeling his face heat up as he forced himself to stop thinking about the man he had been idolizing and fantasizing about for literal years. "That's what they all say," Toyomitsu laughed, shoving another ball of takoyaki into his mouth.
The hero pushed the plate towards Kirishima, who politely declined with a wave of his arms. Fatgum turned to Tamaki, who wasted zero time in grabbing one and popping it into his mouth, breaking it open with a stab of his tongue as he tried to quell the anticipation within himself.
"It's about Togata-Senpai, right? Katsuki told me you guys haven't really properly seen each other since after he recovered from being sick last weekend. I mean classes and lunch, but it's not like you're alone. That must suck, I get upset when I can't hug Kats every 5 hours, so I can kinda understand it," Kirishima chuckled, Tamaki swallowing the takoyaki with a nod.
"Y-yeah. He had all that make-up work. Plus the added after-school class every day dealing with making sure he still has perfect control over his quirk. It's not like I can't handle not seeing him after classes, it's just..." The raven trailed off, pulling his hood up to cover himself more as they turned a corner.
"But now you're dating, right?" Kirishima asked, Tamaki grunting in response as he curled further into himself. "Yeah, Suneater's definitely in the honeymoon phase with that Lemillion of his. You can see how he glows with it, too. It's a good thing, of course, especially since you practically know everything about each other, so there won't be fallbacks," Fatgum explained, Tamaki blushing at the words.
Glows? Tamaki could hardly call it that. Yes, his chest felt lighter, and he allowed himself to freely touch Mirio now, but he didn't think he was glowing. If anything, he just felt less anxious in general. He felt like with Mirio properly at his side now, he felt more of an equal to the blond.
"You know, there's a reason he says that you're brighter than the sun. I'll admit, when Midoriya told me Togata-Senpai had said that, I was a bit confused myself. Though, lately, I've seen it more and more the past couple days. You genuinely seem happier, not to mention your confidence is higher," Kirishima rattled, Tamaki giving a squeak as he pulled his hood down further.
--
That feeling was tight in his throat, constricting his chest as he and Mirio laid side-by-side on purple sheets with the blond's laptop on their legs. They were leaning back against pillows so they were a bit propped, Tamaki's heated blanket around their shoulders. The animated movie played quietly into the dark room, and the raven felt his tongue salivating at his own thoughts that plagued his mind all week.
"You okay?" Mirio asked suddenly, Tamaki jumping in response as he looked to his right, eyes widening when he saw screen-lit blue eyes gazing at him. "Yeah, why? Something wrong?" Tamaki muttered, turning back to the laptop as he cuddled closer into the blond's arm. "You seem a bit tense, is all. Is there something bothering you?" Mirio's voice was soft as he snaked an arm around the raven's waist to pull him impossibly closer.
"N-not really. Just missed you," Tamaki admitted, sharp feeling of want pricking his nerves as the hair on his arms stood up. He swallowed all the saliva that built up in his mouth, stomach fluttering as Mirio kissed his forehead. "I missed you, too, Kiki. Though, I know that isn't all. It's very easy to tell when you're not focusing in class," Mirio teased.
Tamaki huffed, turning to fully hide his face in his boyfriend's shoulder. "It's embarassing," He mumbled, everything else completely forgotton as Mirio moved the laptop off of them and on the side of the bed, pausing the movie. The soft light from the device framed that fluffy blond hair perfectly as Mirio pushed Tamaki off of him gently.
"Embarassing?" Mirio asked, grinning widely at the slightly-shorter male. Tamaki avoided looking at him, instead staring intently at the bed below them, "you um... Do you remember when we were younger, and I constantly had to have candy at school or home?" Tamaki heard Mirio hum for a second in thought.
"Oh, that thing you had from your quirk? When you constantly needed to be eating something?" "Y-yes, but it wasn't tied to my quirk at all. I-I just... needed to keep myself busy and that helped," Tamaki continued, jolting in place as his chin was lifted up. His indigo eyes burned with the need to look away or be closed, but he fought the urge as he continued staring into those sapphire irises. "Okay..?"
Tamaki gulped down the bundle of nerves that got caught in his throat. "I-I don't know, I thought I was done with that years ago, but..." "Do you need me to get you something to eat, Tamaki?" "Not... necessarily," the raven felt his face heat up, and Mirio noticed the color-change in his cheeks from the light of the laptop.
"Then what is it? I can't exactly help you if you won't tell me what's bothering you," Mirio laughed, letting go of Tamaki's chin only to bring both of his arms up to wrap around the younger's neck, pulling them up until they were sitting rather than laying down. Tamaki seemed to be deep in thought, and Mirio watched the other's eyebrows squint together, as if he was trying to figure out how to say something.
Mirio kept trying to figure out what the problem was. Tamaki used to constantly bring multiple kinds of sweets to school with him up until they left middle school, and Tamaki swore up and down it was a side-effect of a quirk, but the raven just said that wasn't the case. Mirio saw Tamaki swallow another breath, face deepening in color as those indigo eyes wavered, switching between which of Mirio's eyes to look at.
Tamaki stated 'I thought I was done with that years ago,' which could only mean that feeling was still present, and seemed to be all week and as of now. The way Tamaki looked made Mirio think that to the younger, whatever dilemma he was going through, it really was embarassing for Tamaki to admit to.
"Maki?" Mirio grew more concerned, smile fading with each passing quiet second. "C-Can I..." Tamaki trailed off, eyes shooting down to look at Mirio's mouth before looking back up into the color of the ocean. Mirio was confused, but he would never turn down the opportunity to kiss his boyfriend so he slowly leaned forward in approval.
Tamaki met him halfway, their lips pressing together for a quick second before pulling back a few inches. Mirio surged towards him again, fitting their lips together into sweet, chaste kisses that echoed into the dark room. Tamaki's arms reached up, gripping Mirio's upper-arms only to pull him forward.
Their mouths broke apart as Tamaki fell backwards, his hold on Mirio forcing the blond to straddle over him. Mirio's hands were pushed into the bed on either side of his boyfriend, and before he could ask any questions, Tamaki's arms were around his shoulder's. He dragged the blond into another kiss, this time tilting his head to fit their mouths together more smoothly.
Mirio's braincells were chucked out of the window as he felt Tamaki's mouth open a bit, and he followed suit, tongues meshing together lightly before darting back into their mouths in another press of lips. The blond's senses were on high-alert as Tamaki sighed through his nose, and then he felt the raven's body relax back into the bed.
Mirio had no idea what was going on, but whatever he was doing was making Tamaki finally chill out- he'd looked tense and stiff all week, and it pained Mirio to see him like that. Because of this, he put all his effort into kissing Tamaki breathless, tongue invading his boyfriend's mouth with ferver. The younger gave a small hum into the kiss, and the blond took advantage of the wider opening, tilting his head further as he slid the length of his tongue fully against Tamaki's.
Tamaki's legs shuffled until they were able to wiggle off the heated blanket, bending up so his knees caged Mirio in place with a gentle squeeze to the blond's waist. Mirio chuckled lowly between kisses, Tamaki shivering at the sound as his right hand snaked up to run through the older's soft hair, tugging gently at the strands of gold.
Mirio huffed out a breath before he gave a soft bite to Tamaki's bottom lip, gently pulling it for only just a second before letting go in order to push his tongue right back against the raven's. Tamaki groaned, pulling a bit harder at Mirio's hair as he took in a sharp breath from his nose.
Mirio smirked into the hot, wet kiss, left hand slowly moving from it's spot on the mattress to slide over Tamaki's clothed chest. The younger shuddered at the contact, feeling his own body grow warm as that hand slid lower and lower. Mirio's movements stopped when his fingers skimmed the skin of Tamaki's stomach just above the band of his purple sweatpants.
He pulled back from the sweet taste of the other, attempting to look down at his boyfriend before realizing his laptop screen had shut off from inactivity. The room was pitch black, but he didn't care, opening his mouth on a "Tamaki, can-" and being interrupted with a swift "please" before he was dragged back into making out with the other.
Mirio was surprised, but focused his mind back on the moment, letting the raven practically devour his mouth as he moved both hands to methodically drag Tamaki's pants off of him. Tamaki shivered at the cold air assaulting his previously warm legs, trying to ignore his anxiety and nervosity as he swirled his tongue around Mirio's.
While Mirio was hard as hell already, he wanted to focus on Tamaki. After all, he didn't get to assist with the raven's own release last weekend the night he re-recieved his quirk. He was too tired then, too out of it to realize he never helped his boyfriend in return until days after.
The blond moved his left hand back onto the mattress to help hold himself up after pulling down Tamaki's boxers, too. He grinned as the other shivered once more, and he slowly skimmed his right hand back up Tamaki's left thigh. He followed the curve of Amajiki's leg, gently dragging his nails across the skin until he reached his goal.
He surged forward into the kiss, pushing into Tamaki's tongue with his own as his hand wrapped around that heated length. The raven's moan was broken and quiet, yet Mirio felt immense pride in hearing that sound, meaning he was doing something right. Mirio's thumb rubbed against the head of his boyfriend's growing erection until he felt that slick substance bead from the opening.
He hummed into Tamaki's mouth, continuing to stimulate the top of the raven's dick until there was enough pre-cum for Mirio to feel safe to move his hand. He spread that thick lubricant down the shaft, proceeding to start a slow pace of languid strokes. The younger groaned into the kiss, body trembling as his senses were full of Mirio once again.
Tamaki pulled back from kissing the blond, swallowing the copius amount of saliva as he took a second to catch his breath. Mirio was about to lean down to pepper kisses along Tamaki's neck, yet was surpised when the other pulled him back in for an open-mouthed kiss with a low "Mirio..."
Mirio's exhale through his nose was shaky at best, and despite not being touched at all, still felt pleasure with how his boyfriend was acting. It was hot- the raven's low, soft moans as he seemed determined to kiss the blond without a break. Tamaki's hand was still yanking Mirio's hair as the other hand tightly gripped his shoulder.
It wasn't all that obvious, but Mirio could feel Tamaki canting his hips up into his strokes, and took it as permission to increase the speed until Tamaki's body shook once more at the stimulation. Mirio was fully honed in on pleasing his lover, and was so focused that he didn't realize there was an octopus arm slithering down behind him.
He felt something soft and smooth slide against his stomach, and before he could pull away to investigate there was a sudden movement of that tentacle lurching forward into his pants to wrap around his cock once more. He pulled back then, gasping out a moan in surprise as there was a sudden, almost-painful sucking sensation wrapped around him from base to tip.
Tamaki thrusted into Mirio's hand that had paused, and he gave a near-growl as he yanked the blond back into another kiss, biting the older's lips harshly as Mirio was too brain-dead to try to kiss him back. It took a second for Mirio to regain some thoughts, and immediately started to pump his boyfriend as swiftly as he could, feeling his own end approaching at the speed of a bullet train from the sensations around his own hardened length. The two panted into each other's mouths as their foreheads were pressed together.
Tamaki's hit first, orgasm washing over him as he spurted over Mirio's hand, the raven softly crying out as the blond worked him through it and then some, overstimulation immediately rushing over his nerves. His body shook near-violently as he heard Mirio take in a breath. He knew what that meant, and quickly moved his hand from Mirio's hair to his mouth, pressing forward to muffle the almost-scream from the blond.
Togata fell over the edge, feeling Tamaki's hand smack to cover his moan as the rest of his body froze. His hand unwrapped from Tamaki's cock in order to push down into the raven's stomach. Amajiki grunted at the small amount of pain, but chose to ignore it as he felt Mirio's body curl forward, jolting with his orgasm.
The older's pleasure immediately shifted to overstimulation as those suction cups stayed latched, body shuddering in an almost aggressive manner as he let out a whine. Tamaki's octopus arm retracted quickly back into the hand on the blond's shoulder, giving sweet relief to his overwhelmed boyfriend.
They stayed there breathing heavily into the dark, quiet room, with nothing but their gasps to fill the void. "Oh... my god..." Mirio panted out, moving to sit back on his knees, allowing the raven to have his space. He reached a hand up, pushing it through his hair as his palm ran through sweat on his forehead. Almost directly after doing that, he realized he used his right hand to do that, meaning his hair was now successfully covered in Tamaki.
He felt his face heat up in hot embarassment, the feeling coursing through his veins as he tried to search for the other in the darkness. It, of course, didn't work, and he chose to blindly move off of the bed and in the direction on the bathroom. It took a lot of effort, and he even ran into things with his hands out in front of him, but he managed to find the shower and swiftly turned it on.
"Huh? W-what are you in there for?" Tamaki's soft, confused voice asked, and Mirio shucked off his shirt to avoid it getting wet as he shoved his head under the stream of water. "Full honestly, Tamaki, I just dumbly ran my hand that was covered in your cum right through my hair," he laughed, Tamaki responding with a loud cackle. he quickly rinsed off his hair before turning the shower off. He wrung his hair of as much water as he could before walking back into the pitch black room with confidence.
"Why didn't you turn the light on?" Tamaki asked another question, hands reaching out to grab Mirio's arms to lead him back onto the bed after using his quirk to use those helpful salmon eyes again. "Because you don't have pants on, and I wasn't about to make you uncomfortable," he responded with a small smile, enjoying the cold water dripping from his hair onto his warm skin. He was finally sat back on the bed, and gently dropped his laptop off of the bed as he heard shuffling from near Tamaki. He could only assume his boyfriend was redressing himself.
"You're too kind, Mirio," Amajiki's mumble was loud within the room, and Mirio grinned as he was pulled back down onto the bed. They just laid there, enjoying the bliss that washed over them, boys increasingly becoming more tired by the second.
"I think I have an obsession with your tongue," Tamaki stated the words so monotonously that Mirio choked on his breath, eyes widening as he stared in the darkness at the other. Mirio's face heated up once again, "well, if it makes you feel any better, I love kissing you. Is that the thing you were trying to get at, earlier?"
"Y-yeah. I have an oral fixation, and I thought it ended when I stopped bringing all those candies to school. I guess it never left, and that you just kinda..." "Started it back up again?" Mirio asked, not recieving a response, but he assumed Tamaki nodded back at him. "Tama, is it bad? You seemed pretty stressed and tense all week, and I don't want you to have to ignore that feeling if it upsets you."
Tamaki hummed back, "I mean, yeah, but it's mostly just uncomfortable. It's just.. you know, what my body craves, and I get antsy if I don't get that release. No, you don't need to kiss me every second of the day, Micchan. I'll probably go back to bringing food like that to school, though. It was hard being able to focus in class." Mirio sighed, wrapping his arms around Tamaki to pull the man into his chest, cuddling the raven close. "Alright. Let me know what I can do, Tama. I don't want you to be uncomfortable. I apologize for causing that feeling to come back, but I don't regret kissing you. Not one bit," Mirio laughed lightly, feeling Tamaki's body shift with his own laughter.
--
Tamaki was sitting up in his bed, blanket draped around him as he stared down at the blond. Mirio was still asleep, and Tamaki had woken up before him, but didn't feel like moving yet. He was running through his mind, one idea sticking out as he moved his eyes away from his boyfriend.
He moved his hand from under the blanket, looking down at it. His curiosity over the conversation him and Bakugou had two weeks ago was bugging him, and he wasn't sure if he should even fall through with the plan. It was a crazy idea to start with, and what would the outcome prove? Of course, it could prove that Tamaki can copy quirks much like another student Kirishima told him about. On the other hand, it wouldn't make a difference to anyone else because Mirio was the only person he would ever try this with.
The thought of drinking blood disgusted him, and frightened him. Though, nothing but warm heat filled his body when he swallowed mouthfuls of Mirio's saliva from last night. He would only ever be able to do this with Mirio.
Apparently he was thinking too hard, because he flinched back when a hand landed on his clothed knee. "Sorry! You just looked troubled," Mirio muttered, tired smile on his face as he gazed up lovingly at the raven. Tamaki thought about his options, and decided that if he would do this, he would throw himself into it with no way of backing out. "Hey, Mirio, can I try something?"
Mirio blinked. That wasn't what he was expecting, but nodded as he moved to sit up, leaning his back on the padded headboard of the bed. Tamaki crawled forward until he was snugly sitting on Mirio's lap, the blanket over his shoulders covering the bottom half of his boyfriend. He took in a deep breath before pressing his right hand flat against Mirio's chest.
Mirio tilted his head, and Tamaki spoke up before he could ask, "L-look, just... give me a second." The blond nodded, keeping his mouth closed as he watched Tamaki's eyes narrow into a glare as he stared at his hand. Mirio watched his brows knit, and saw one of those indigo eyes squint as if in pain. The blond immediately realized that this was what Tamaki looked like back in middle school when he was trying to overuse his quirk.
Mirio became concerned, watching Tamaki's other hand move up to push against the side of his head. "You're giving yourself a headache, Maki, you-" "L-Let me... almost.." Tamaki's voice sounded strained, and Mirio almost missed the suble skin-tone shift of Tamaki's hand on his chest.
He looked down questionably, and he froze when Tamaki's hand suddenly lurched through his body. His head shot up to look at his boyfriend as the raven yanked his arm back, hand returning to his normal color as the younger let out a breath he was holding, gasping out as he slightly shook.
"Tamaki, what-" "I-I get it, I know where I have to pull it from... Mirio, I get it!" Tamaki's face was suddenly taken over by a bright smile, and the raven reached out to grip one of Mirio's hands to pull it up. He placed that hand flat along Mirio's hand, their hands touching heel to fingertip as Mirio saw Tamaki's hand shift to match his own darker skin color.
Mirio's mind suddenly connected the dots when Tamaki's hand phased through his again. Mirio sparked up his own quirk, Tamaki's hand being forced back as their hands managed to touch in their matched, permeated-like state. Mirio was floored- he had never been able to feel anything when using his quirk.
"D-did you just... my quirk? But.. your quirk?" Mirio's mouth canted up into a growing smile, excitement boiling through his body as Tamaki nodded quickly. "Tamaki, I could feel that!" He almost shouted the words, Tamaki nodding faster. "Oh my god, I could feel something! A sense that can work!" Mirio laughed, yanking Tamaki into a tight hug.
"I-is that through manifest?" Mirio pushed the other back almost as quickly as he was pulled in, eyes looking between both purple ones of his boyfriend. "Yeah... It was an idea, and I just... I needed to know, and..." Tamaki ranted quietly, sounding out of breath as Mirio laughed again. The blond felt his eyes tear up, "Tamaki, do you know how scary my quirk is? How terrifying it is to never be able to feel a thing when using it? And after all these years, the only thing I can touch using my quirk is you. You, Tamaki, You!"
Mirio was now laughing and crying, and Tamaki's laugh joined in. "It's only when I'm manifesting myself into you, Micchan! I...I'm glad I can be that for you, I know how much it scares you. How much it scares me just thinking about it."
"I love you so fucking much, Kiki," Mirio responded, hands grasping each side of Tamaki's head as he pulled him in for a quick pack of lips, pulling back to laugh once more. Tamaki reached up to grab Mirio's face with his own hands, whisper loving as his thumb stroked a cheekbone, "I love you, too, Mirio. I told you I would always be there for you, and I meant it."
Mirio smiled wider when he realized those words had a new meaning, being that even when using his quirk- even when drowning into the ground, that Tamaki would be able to pull him back out of it, just like he's always been able to pull him out of every dark, depressing thought of his.
It was a promise Tamaki made to never leave him, and that he would always be there to save Mirio. One Tamaki refused to break.
