Edogawa Conan is enjoying his first day of summer holiday at the Agency when a knock is heard at the door.
Curious, Conan peeked through the door as Mouri Ran–Mouri Kogoro's daughter and his brother Shinichi's childhood friend–opened the door and invited two bespectacled people to enter the Agency.
‘Twins?' Conan thought, looking at two teenagers Ran's age who had shoulder-length hair. One of them had a bit of a curl and the other had a half ponytail at the back of his head. Both of them wore round glasses similar to Conan's father.
“Hello, are you Ran Mouri?” asked one of them–a curly-haired teenager.
Ran blinked, “my name is Mouri Ran, may I ask who you are?”
“Ah, sorry for not introducing ourself. My name is Arthur Edogawa, and he is my twin brother, Arsene Edogawa. We are Conan’s older brothers.” The teenager with straight hair tied in a half ponytail at the back of his head–Arthur–introduced himself.
“EEEEHHHHH?!?!” Conan and Ran shouted at the same time.
Conan doesn't know who they are, but they are very suspicious—
Conan's eyes widened when he saw Arsene's mischievous grin and Arthur's wink, as if they both knew clearly that Conan was watching them too.
'They're Shinichi-niichan and Kaito-niichan!!!' Conan thought, realizing that his real brother and his brother's 'friend' were currently pretending to be Conan's 'brother'.
“Conan-kun?! I didn’t know he had a older brothers!” Ran squealed, looking shocked and starting to examine the two teenagers in front of her more closely. “But I can see the resemblance between you two and him… oh, I’ll call him right away!”
“R-ran-neechan! I’m here!” Conan quickly got up from where he was standing and ran into Shinichi–Arthur’s arms. “Niichan! You came! Why?”
Kaito–Arsene pouted. “Mou, Conan, why are you only hugging Arthur? Where’s the hug for me?”
Even though his lips said that, Arsene still moved to embrace Conan and Arthur both in his arms.
Conan pouted too, but didn't say anything and settled himself in Shini—Arthur’s arms. He missed his brother, especially since they couldn't live together because there was an evil Organization targeting them.
“Hello, Conan, I missed you.” Arthur whispered lovingly. He hugged Conan tightly and refused to let go until Ran cleared her throat with an awkward expression.
“Um, I’ll bring you some drinks. Is there anything you guys want?”
Arsene smiled widely, “oh, no need to bother, Mouri. We just came to pick up Conan to spend the summer vacation with us! It’s a surprise, so Conan doesn’t know we’re coming either!”
Conan's eyebrows twitched when he heard the rude nickname, but before he could comment, Arthur had already spoken.
“Sorry if we sounded rude… we’re both still not used to Japan from living in America for so long…”
The corner of Ran’s lips that had been twitching in annoyance turned into an ‘O’ and her gaze changed to one of understanding. “Oh… you guys probably don’t know, but calling someone you just met requires adding the word ‘san’ after their name. Also, here, you should mention the family name first before the name your parents gave you.”
Conan whispered in Arthur's ear and asked if this was intentional, and Arthur just nodded briefly, almost imperceptibly.
“Oh, so we’re supposed to call you Mouri Ran-san? Is that correct?”
Ran nodded. “You can call me Ran, or ‘Ran-san’. By the way, did you say something about summer vacation?”
Arsene nodded enthusiastically. “Because of our busy schedules, we rarely get a day off and spend time with Conan. That’s why now we want to invite Conan to go on a vacation together, just the three of us.”
Arthur bowed with an awkward smile, “Sorry for coming so suddenly without any news, Ran-san… I hope our arrival doesn’t disturb your vacation plans…?”
“Oh! No-no! You guys aren't bothering me at all! Honestly, we haven’t planned anything for this summer vacation.” Ran’s smile became softer, “I’m glad Conan-kun can spend his summer vacation with his family.”
Conan smiled too. “Un! Niichan is always busy. They rarely visit me… I’m glad we’ll be spending this summer together, niichan!”
He wasn't even lying. Ever since Shinichi returned to Japan when he was 15, Conan had been lonely in America. That's why he came to Japan to live with Shinichi.
Unfortunately when he arrived, Shinichi accidentally saw the Black Organization's illegal transactions and was poisoned. Fortunately, the poison was still an experimental poison, so Shinichi did not die, only his immune system became unstable.
When Shinichi realizes that the Black Organization is a dangerous organization, Shinichi decides to disappear with the help of their family friend, Kuroba Chikage, to create a new identity and hide in Ekoda.
It is there that Shinichi meets Kaito, Chikage's son and the person currently pretending to be Edogawa Arsene. Their faces are strikingly similar, but Chikage and Yukiko swear—they even did a DNA test!—that the two are not related at all.
And now Shinichi creates another new identity to spend time with Conan (even though Kaito is there too), making Conan very happy.
Arthur's smile softened even though there was guilt in his eyes. "Sorry for rarely spending time with you, Conan."
“We will fix it and make your summer holiday unforgettable!” Arsene added.
“It’s okay, I know you’re busy, niichan.” Conan refused to get off Arthur’s back–he still missed Shinichi–and now studied Arthur’s face closely.
Arsene, bless him, noticed and engaged Ran in conversation, leaving Arthur and Conan in a tight embrace.
“How about you grab your clothes and we can go after this? Arsene has already booked a hotel in Okinawa, we’ll leave after this if you’re ready.” Arthur asked gently. He had always been weak to Conan, although he could still be serious to his only brother sometimes.
“Un, Ran-neechan, is that okay?” Conan asked, suddenly remembering that he was going to leave Ran alone (Kogoro was away doing his detective work and didn’t want Ran and Conan to come with him).
Ran chuckled, “It’s okay. Besides, Arsene-san and Arthur-san came all the way here to surprise you.”
Conan's smile widened and he jumped down from Arthur's arms to hug Ran's legs with a typical child's happy expression before running inside to get ready. “Arigatou neechan! I will prepare immediately!”
Ran and Arsene couldn't help but cooing at the cute action.
“Conan-kun is so cute!” Ran almost squealed and Arsene nodded in agreement. Arthur himself just let out an amused sigh. “This is the first time I’ve seen him that cute!”
“Conan is so cute. I can hardly resist hugging him all the time!”
Arthur just rolled his eyes when he heard that. He then let Arsene and Ran's voices fill the silence between them, while he himself thought.
Kuroba Kaito is a person who loves to hug cute things. Shinichi himself has often been a victim of this (since they go to the same school and live in the same district). Kaito's secret room also has two large teddy bears that (Shinichi can't help but admit) are very soft and cuddly, perfect for hugging.
It's a shame that Conan doesn't really like being hugged by anyone except Shinichi. His younger brother didn't even like being hugged by their own mother.
Shinichi's thoughts were interrupted when Conan's voice was heard and the boy appeared with a backpack in his hands. "Niichan! I'm ready!"
“Then we will go now.” Arthur bowed to Ran and held Conan’s hand. “Sorry for bothering you and interrupting your time, Ran-san.”
Ran shook her head. “Oh no-no! You guys aren’t bothering me or interrupting my time!”
Arsene also grabbed Conan’s other hand and waved. “Hehe, that’s good then! Well, we’re going now! See you, Ran-san! Don’t worry, we’ll be back in two to three weeks!”
Ran smiled in amusement and Conan pouted because he couldn’t wave at the girl. “Bye-bye, Ran-neechan! I’ll send you a pictures!”
“Jaa nee, Conan-kun. Have fun, okay?” Ran bent down and patted Conan’s head, making the boy nod with a big smile.
“Un!”

Five days later Sonoko and the little detectives screamed in surprise when Ran said that Conan was out with his older twin brothers and showed them a photos of three them at a beach.
Haibara Ai just rolled her eyes when she saw it. She already knew who 'Edogawa Arthur' and 'Edogawa Arsene' really were.
“I didn't know Conan-kun had two older twin brothers!”
“How could he never tell us?!”
“They both look very similar to Conan-kun…”
“That brat has a handsome older brothers! Why didn’t he ever tell Queen Sonoko about this?!”
Ran just shook her head in amusement. After all, she too never knew that Conan had two older twins.
“By the way, did you notice that they both look a bit like that detective geek?” Sonoko asked suddenly. “Wow, their family resemblance is kinda creepy…”
Ran grimaced, remembering when she suspected Conan was actually Shinichi because of how similar their faces looked when Conan took off his glasses. “Yeah, I thought so too.”
At least now Ran knows that her insane theory about Shinichi shrinking into a child was just her wild imagination.
