Explanation and some clarification to hopefully make reading this less confusing.
Mississippi is a transgender male, however didn't fully realise until the mid 1800s, though he has always had identity issues and body issues that culminated due to being born in the wrong body as well as the society at the time, being the 1800s and early to late 1900s. Other characters will use 'she/her' pronouns a lot, due to either not knowing that he is transgender or being transphobic.
There is a lot of sensitive things being said and considering that this story will be set during the mentioned historical eras, so expect some period typical mindsets. Plus violence due to a part of the story being focused on injuries and recovery.
The story will be in chronological order of events, but might time skip a bit.
I will put a note about what each chapter includes at the start. The tags are there as a trigger warning.
