Chapter Text
"I want your love, and I want your revenge, you and me could write a bad romance (oh-oh-oh)-"
The alarm clock blasting through the teenager's room as their favorite song, "Bad Romance", by Lady Gaga, covered by Halestorm filled their ears. With a groan, they slipped a pale hand from their blanket covered self and grasped the nightstand as they slammed the alarm clock with their fist, stopping the song. The teen rolled over, letting out another prolonged groan. The sunlight glowed on their eyes softly as the blinds stood out from the golden light like a complementary color combination.
The teen sat up, their dark grey eyes baggy and half-lidded, their black hair a mess, and their night shirt was covered in wrinkles, as well did their arms from sleeping on crumpled bedsheets. The teenager groggily got up, steps slow and fatigued as they made their way to the bathroom to brush. They looked in the mirror sink.
The teenager had darker features to their eyes and hair, but they had a pale complexion, their hair always covering their right eye-which held an ugly scar from the teen's birth 'family'.
Their birth family abusive f--k of a household had been arrested for child abuse and neglect and were given a life-sentence.
They didn't have to worry about them again.
Now the teen could see out of their eye just fine, maybe a little blurry but still fine. They wondered how they got so darn lucky to be adopted into a foster family that actually cares, loves, and respects them and their privacy and boundaries. But maybe it was for the best.
The teen was adopted into a foster family that consisted of a Loving Mother, a Doting Father, an amazing older sister and a pair of gremlin-like but innocent twins, and a beautiful 2-year-old sister.
However, their trauma has led them to be selectively mute, only comfortable with making sounds, but their new family took time to learn sign language. They were surprised.
The teenager felt disgusted to see the scar-it was a bad memory for them. Their family always told them that they were still so pretty, nonetheless.
They looked over to the toothbrush holder, scanning it. They felt a bit proud seeing it-they helped their mom with the labelling.
Larry (Dad☀️), Rebecca (Mom⭐), Rachel (Big Sister☘️), Connor & Cathy (The Twins🐇), Ava (Baby Sister🌸).
Lastly, in between Rachel's and Connor's and Cathy's, they saw their name, over the polymer holder with the black and white toothbrush with red bristles in the middle.
Robin (The Moonlight to our Moon🌙)
That's right-Robin was their name. Although their birth gender was male, they preferred being non-binary. And they were glad that their family supported them and let them be who they are. They never got that kind of closure in their old household, and their birth parents forced them to like blue, rather than black.
Those days are gone.
Robin put the toothpaste on their toothbrush and started brushing. Half-way through, Robin's twin siblings called them.
"Big sib Robin! Breakfast is ready!"
They replied with a soft 'hm.' and continued brushing, flossing and cleaning their mouth.
They went downstairs to eat breakfast-buttered bread, sunny side up, and fresh mango juice. They smiled. It wasn't often they smiled.
It felt...nice to have people who care.
"Hey bud, how ya feeling?" Their big sister, Rachel, who was munching on an omelet had asked them. 'Good. How's mom and dad?' they signed.
"They're doing fine, they just called this morning." Rachel replied.
The kids' parents had left for a business trip for the whole of summer break last night.
"And they said we could do whatever we want!" Connor said excitedly "But only if we clean up the house if we have a party." Cathy finished.
Ava babbled, tapping her hands on her highchair.
"It's true, they did say that. So, I was wondering, if you wanted to...y'know, go to that new Freddy's?" Rachel spoke, catching all siblings off guard.
"Wait really!? Aw man I can't wait to see Funtime Freddy and Bonbon!" Connor said, excited. "Yeah, while you do that, I'll be off signing an autograph with daycare attendants. I heard they made them two separate animatronics!" Cathy replied, uncontrollable happiness at the same level creeping in her voice. Ava struggled to say "Freddy" but she couldn't, but laughed it off, clapping her hands.
Robin nearly spit their juice out. 'Yes please!' they signed so fast that Rachel almost didn't comprehend.
"Alright, alright, slow down y'all. I wanna see Ballora myself, but we'll go after breakfast and when we take a bath and change into proper attire. We look like a mess!" Rachel replied, saying the last part jokingly.
Robin smiled again. Today is a new day.
