Summary
After the Night of Flame, Joshua was taken to Sanbreque by his mother. Dion devoted himself to caring for Joshua, both before and after he awoke from his coma. Although he fell deeply in love with Joshua over the years, he feared that his childhood friend would harbor resentment toward the empire and blame him for the fall of Rosaria, so he kept his feelings secret.
When Waloed invaded, young Dion resolved to confess his love if he survived. Meanwhile, when inexperienced Bahamut faced Odin, the phoenix swooped in to help but was captured. The king of Waloed aimed to break his captive's spirit.
Dion was determined to rescue his love, believing Joshua was forced onto the battlefield by the empire, not knowing that Joshua had come to aid him willingly.
