Work Text:
It was raining cats and dogs (well, not literally, as Cake could attest to), and Fionna was trying to make it home from work. Thankfully, this was the one day she managed to remember to take an umbrella to shield her from the downpour. She saw a familiar figure walking down the street umbrella-less and soaked and realized she had a chance to live out her own romcom scene.
“Hunter!” Fionna called to him, running over.
“Oh, hey, Fionna,” he said.
Fionna came to a sudden halt next to him, out of breath.
“I, uh, have an umbrella,” she said. “You’re getting soaked.”
“Thanks,” he said. “But I actually like the rain.”
“Really? You don’t get cold.”
“Not really. You should try it.”
“I’m good,” Fionna said. “Still, your place is pretty far away, right? Want to dry off at my house before you go home?”
Hunter smiled.
“I wouldn’t mind that at all.”
Fionna couldn’t stop herself from grinning herself. Despite her better judgment, she shut her umbrella.
“To hell with it,” she said, grabbing Hunter’s hand. “Let’s make a break for it.”
As they ran through the rain, she started to understand why Hunter didn’t use an umbrella. When they got to her house and started taking off their soaked clothes, she understood even better.
