Work Text:
Impulse was tired.
He didn’t know what to do. All he wanted to do was lay in his bed and skip this feeling. He knew he needed to get up and eat but nothing seemed appetizing to him. He wanted to do something but doing something made him want to explode so he laid there on his bed waiting it out until it passed, only moving when he needed to go to the bathroom then going right back to his bed.
His stomach hurt. He’d felt worse, the life series taught him that, but he knew the solution to his problem so why can't he just get up? Why is he crying? Why can’t he just do something. ANYTHING. Tears clouded his vision, he was crying softly, shaking as he breathed. God all he wanted was just to click fast forward on this.
He wanted to move and do something. He wanted to get rid of this feeling. He wanted to be happy, not deal with this stupid emotions bullshit.
Then he felt someone sit him up and rap him in a hug, this person was strong, Impulse couldn’t see who this was but he knew he could trust them. Anyone was better than no one. Impulse felt their clothes, a smooth black vest with black buttons with what he assumed to be a white button down dress shirt underneath. He knew this person was speaking to him by the way the demon felt this person’s voice rumble through him. He knew who this was.
As Impulse started to ground himself by fidgeting with the mans clothes he started to hear things around him again.
“There you go just breath dippledop” Impulse heard Skizz say.
Impulse held onto the angel’s vest a bit tighter as he nuzzled into the crook of his neck. He didn’t want to move. He wanted to stay right where he was, where nothing could bother him, where nothing was expected of him, where he was happy and safe.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Skizz asks the demon softly as to not disturb him that much.
Impulse shakes his head and leans into Skizz more as Skizz starts to massage his head.
“Will me talking to you help?” Skizz asks and the demon nods back.
Skizz ended up talking to Impulse about how his pyramid was coming along and how he really appreciated Impulse’s help with it, he then rambled about something he saw while off server the other day, then something about a girl with blue pigtails? Well whatever it was Impulse wasn’t paying attention to him. He just paid attention to how the man’s voice rumbled through his body and the feeling of the man’s clothes against his hands.
Soon Impulse pulled away to look at Skizz. The angel was beautiful in this lighting, he was always beautiful but he was looking more angelic with the sunset coming from a small opening in his mechanical door.
“So when was the last time you ate something?” Skizz asks the demon
Impulse looked down and shrugged, “well how about I fix you up something?” Skizz asks him softly.
“That would be nice,” Impulse said with a small smile on his face.
Skizz started to put something together for Impulse. It wasn’t anything special just a grilled cheese sandwich but Impulse didn’t care he loved whatever food the angel made him. Impulse appreciated it no matter what. He started to think. Skizz has done so much for him and it feels like he hasn’t returned the favor by helping Skizz that much, he felt bad for not returning the favor back to Skizz.
“Stop thinking,” Skizz said, pulling Impulse out of his thoughts.
“Huh?” Impulse said a bit groggily,
“Stop thinking” Skizz repeats, “I can hear it from here”
Impulse sighs as he unravels his tail from his ankle, which he didn’t know how that happened, “Well how do I do that?”
“Well just don’t think! Whatever it is clearly bugging you” Skizz says to the demon, “You know you can talk to me dippledop, you know i don’t mind” Skizz says a bit softer as he looks at him.
“Well I just think I haven't done a lot for you and you've done so much for me..” Impulse says as he breaks eye contact with Skizz.
Skizz pauses what he was doing and walks over to Impulse. As he get close to him he tilts Impulse’s head up to look at him.
“Impulse, you’ve done so much for me” Skizz started, “You’ve helped me with my pyramid, you got me to get on the this server with all our friends on it, and most of all you’ve been my best friend through everything”
Impulse looked up at him and smiled, his eyes watering a bit. Skizz then pulled him into a hug and kissed him on the forehead before pressing his own against his softly.
They ended up staying there for a bit before Skizz remembered about the grilled cheese, he burnt it a tiny bit but it was still good enough to eat.
Once Impulse got some food in him Skizz pulled Impulse to the couch and started to put on a movie as he laid Impulse down on top of him. As the movie was going Impulse wasn’t really paying attention to it, instead he was looking at Skizz’s face.
Impulse was looking at Skizz’s features and imperfections. Impulse’s thoughts started to wonder as he thought about their relationship. Skizz was beautiful, he wanted to be more with Skizz, he loved Skizz.
“What are you thinking about?” Skizz asks the demon as he scratched his head
“You” Impulse said softly as he leaned into the angel's touch.
“What about me?” Skizz asked smirking a bit
Impulse shrugged and then kissed Skizz’s cheek. Skizz chuckled and then kissed him back on his lips as Impulse wrapped his tail around Skizz’s ankle, they both chuckled and then ended up finishing the movie.
They both ended up falling asleep on the couch and cuddled there for the whole night.
In the morning Impulse was the first one to wake up, he yawned and realized that Skizz was holding him so he couldn’t move. Impulse looked at Skizz and admired him. Skizz was asleep still and was snoring softly. Impulse smiled and kissed him softly on the cheek and slowly started to get up and out of Skizz’s arms so he wouldn’t disturb the angel.
As Skizz woke up he realized he didn’t have Impulse with him. He was a bit upset at that for a moment before he heard some noises coming from the kitchen. Skizz sat up and popped his neck and back before walking over to the kitchen, the smell of food being more noticeable as he walked over.
Skizz saw Impulse making some pancakes humming a small tune Skizz recognized. Skizz thought it was the perfect time to mess with Impulse so as quietly as he could he sneaked up to Impulse and hugged him from behind.
Impulse in return jumped a bit and let out a totally manly yelp.
“Dude!” Impulse exclaimed as Skizz was laughing, “Ugh.. you jerk! I could’ve messed up the pancakes!” Impulse said as he crossed his arms and continued to make the pancakes.
Skizz in between giggles said “Good morning to you too buddy” before giggling again.
Impulse rolled his eyes before smiling as he flipped the pancakes on the pan over.
Once they both calmed down Impulse put the final pancakes on 2 plates before bringing over the pan to the sink and putting some water on it as it steamed. Then there was a beep on the microwave. Impulse pressed cancel before opening the oven and as he checked it grabbed a hot pad and brought out a small tray of bacon.
When Impulse was done setting the bacon on the plates he brought over to the table 2 plates with pancakes and bacon for the two of them to eat. Skizz grabbed out of Impulse’s fridge some maple syrup and on the way back to the table 2 forks and 2 knives.
“Thank you!” Impulse said as he took a pair of silverware from Skizz,
“I should be thanking you!” Skizz said as he sat down in a chair at Impulse’s table, “You made this amazing food! Way better than my mediocre grilled cheese last night”
“They both have their place” Impulse said as he took the syrup and poured a fair amount of it on his pancakes.
As they both finished they started to talk about what their plans were for the day. Impulse wanted to continue working on the dropper game so he had to go shopping for some materials. Skizz had to go to his mangrove farm and get some more wood to restock his shop and then he had to continue working on his banners.
So they both started to say goodbye and with a hug and a small kiss they both were on their way. They both loved and appreciated each other and they were thankful that they could rely on each other for support.
