Chapter Text

Tsukari was sitting in the bench outside of momma Rouge's house listening in on a conversation she knew she wasn't supposed to. She knew momma sent her outside for a reason but also couldn't resist finding out what it was. Unfortunately for her it was something she couldn't keep to herself.

Excited Tsukari took off towards the town hoping they'd have what she needed. Momma would probably be upset she left early but she had a mission. There's no way her baby sibling shouldn't know about his dad and extended family. 

Roger was an infamous pirate. Tsukari was old enough to know that any kid of his would have the world against him. That he'd need to stay hidden. However she also was aware enough to know that both the kid's parents carried the sea in their veins and would eventually set out. He'd need a guide.

Mind made up she slipped into the supply shop and started looking around. It took a good bit of time and money but she had what she needed. One video Denden mushi capable of recording had been procured. Excited she ran back to the house.

“Rouge please don't be mad but I have an idea.” She exclaims as she bursts in.

“What would I be mad about Tsu?” she asks, her smile warm despite the call you heard.

“My hearings really good and I kinda heard the talk and got an idea.” The teen explains. “Baby sibling probably won't get to meet their dad. Buuuuuuuut it doesn't mean he can't know him.”

Tsukari proudly holds up the rough looking Cameko. It'd definitely seen better days but it's nothing a little time and care couldn't fix. She'd need to feed it quite a bit but it'd be worth it.

“I'm gonna go meet up with Roger and bring Sibling along with me. I'll be able to talk to the crew and get all sorts of good stories for him to listen to when he's older and it's safe.” She happily explains. Her face falls a bit when Rouge starts crying. 

“It's ok little pup, these are happy tears I promise.” The older woman pulls the teen into a tight hug. “Things are a little rough now so thank you for thinking of them.”

“Of course I'm gonna think of them.” Tsukari pouts. “They are my sibling. Blood doesn't mean anything. It's only right they get to know the whole family that's waiting to love them.”

“You seem so sure we won't be around.” Rouge asks hesitantly.

“It's my fruit. I've figured out more things and ate a looooooot of different animals.” She starts explaining, taking a moment to pass a few bites of melon to the sad looking snail. “My nose is extra sensitive and you and Roger kinda smell like the sad people in the hospital. I know it's not the sad part so it must be the sick.”

“Tsu honey, why didn't you say anything.” The older woman holds the teen a little tighter.

“Cause I couldn't do anything before.” She cries out. “But now I can. I can make sure sibling knows about their family and be there for them as they grow up. I couldn't for my boys before but I can for them.”

“Alright then sweetie. Go and show your little sibling their family.” Rouge reluctantly gives her blessing. Excited Tsukari hops up and heads to pack.

Mind made up and with momma's support she takes off. Her navigation skills have gotten better. The extra input given to her by the sea and sky king traits making finding her way around easy. The first stop is Whitebeard's lair. Roger usually hangs out there between quests.

“I know we just met and you don't trust me but I've got to head out now. I'm sorry if you don't like heights.” She apologizes to the poor snail before securing it in the messenger bag. The snail itself just wiggles its eyestalks but doesn't seem angry.

“All right little buddy, here we go.” She warns the snail before jumping off the cliff. Her wings spread out to catch the breeze and she soars over the crashing waves. She looks down to check on the little snail with a wide grin on her face. She gives the little guy a quick double tap and he starts recording.

“My name is Tsukari Hellion and I'm a kinda ward of your dad Gol D Roger. Your mom Rouge is an amazing woman and I hope you'll get to meet her one day. But that's for later.

Right now I'm on my way to introduce you to the rest of our little family. A few things about me that are kinda important are that I'm the current holder of the Fusion fruit Chimera, a special Paramecia type with Zoan qualities, and am currently flying over the big blue ocean. I can navigate without maps or posses and can't wait to meet you. 

Originally I'm from a place called Baratachi island in the South Blue calm belt. Around seven years ago my blood parents sold me to a Tenryuubito as a companion for his nephews, a few years after their father decided he wanted to be a regular guy and left Mary Geoise after freeing me. Unfortunately for me I actually kinda grew attached to the brothers and have been trying to find them since. 

I actually met your dad after I snuck aboard his ship while he was docked on some unaffiliated island. He'd never admit it but I think I almost scared him half to death when he opened a crate expecting to find food and instead found a tiny twelve year old kid.

Actually now that I think about it I think that's how he found Shanks and Buggy as well.” She stops to laugh for a moment and checks on the snail.

“That'll be a hell of a way to explain how babies are born. Civilian kids grow in gardens, marine kids are delivered by seagulls and pirate kids spawn inside chests. It's why they hoard treasure you know, trying to build a big enough hoard to spawn a new member.

Gods you'd be so confused when you got older but it'd technically be the truth. At least for the Roger pirates.

I should probably stop here for now. Lil bro I hope that when you finally see this you'll understand how much we love you and why we had to do what we did.”

She double taps the snail again and it stops recording. After giving it some food and a lot of praise she tucks him safely away further inside the bag and heads towards higher ground. At this level she'll be able to avoid most of the worst storms without risk of hitting a sky island.

Despite what people might think, sky islands do exist outside of the Grand line. They are just much harder to spot and reach in the calmer waters of the Blues. Unless of course you had the Chimera fruit and the wings of a Sky King.

She slowly makes her way higher. He goal is the north west air current that carries the warm fronts from the south calm belt into the grand line. The hope is that she can coast to Port Chibaralta island and meet him there. She didn't want to spoil the surprise but it was necessary.

Chapter Text

Portgas D Ace was sulking down in the store room of the Moby Dick. He'd just gotten into another fight with Teach about Roger and whether or not he was a good man. Teach seemed to idolize the bastard but Ace was conflicted. Which is why he was sitting in the dark, definitely not pouting.

It's not that he was unhappy with the crew. He just didn't want to follow in anyone's footsteps. Didn't want to hide in another man's shadow. WhiteBeard was amazing, a great father and a great man but…..he was just like Roger.

“I wish I knew what these people were thinking. Creating a waste of space like me.” He mutters, taking up his favorite spot in the back corner. The worn looking video Den-den mushi Thatch liked to spoil came crawling over.

“You are a very odd snail.” Ace commented. Most Den-den mushi rarely if ever moved around. This one liked to be carried and talked to. Often climbing random crew members or, in his opinion, begging for slices of melon by staring at them.

“I swear you're trying to tell me something. It's probably important. Given how often Tsu keeps leaving you here.” He reaches out and picks up the snail. He gives the snail a quick scratch to its head and almost drops it when a video starts playing. He'd recognize that cat bird menace anywhere. Curious, he sets Lil Buddy on a more stable perch and watches.

“My name is Tsukari Hellion and I'm a kinda ward of your dad. Your mom is an amazing woman and I hope you'll get to meet her one day. But that's for later.

Ace can barely breathe as he watches his and his brother's only babysitter, though younger, smile down at what had to be the snail. She looked so excited about meeting this sibling. It kinda hurts. He doubts anyone was this happy about him.

He should feel bad for watching this. Well, listening, the view was mostly of the ocean below. He never realized how fast aunt Tsu could fly. Assuming the green spots were islands that is. He quietly slides a box closer and sits down.

No.no.no. It couldn't be. No way. He knew that stupid story. Not a lie because technically Shanks confirmed it. But. How? Why?

 “It's why they hoard treasure, you know, trying to build a big enough hoard to spawn a new member.

I should probably stop here for now. Lil bro I hope that when you finally see this you'll understand how much we love you and why we had to do what we did.”

Ace just sat there as Lil Buddy nudged his hand. Absently Ace started to scratch at the snail's shell. After a few minutes of processing he picked up the Den-Den Mushi and made his way tho the kitchen.

“Hey Thatch, we got any strawberries?” Ace asked as he walks in, the snail still on his shoulder.

“Finally settling in eh?” Deuce asks from a spot by the table. 

“Nah, just found a few things and Lil Buddy wanted a snack.”

“That snail really likes you. Maybe Tsu would be willing to leave it with you. The only person it likes is her.” Thatch handed him a few slices of berries and melon.

“Thanks, maybe I'll ask her sometime.” He responds as he leaves.

Chapter Text

Fight number forty went about as well as fights one through thirty-nine. Sure he could tell he was getting better but he was still too weak. WhiteBeard for the most part was just shrugging off the attacks. Teach as always, had a few choice words to say that left him in a foul mood. And like before that mood summoned Lil Buddy.

“Hey there. Something you wanna tell me?” He asks the snail. It just wiggles it's eyes at him. “Ok let's try this.” He scratches the snail's head and another video pops up.

“Hey Little sibling. I just met up with your dad and it looks like the whole crew is here. I can't wait to show you the family. We gotta be stealthy though. I don't think anyone aside from your dad and momma knows.

*The video pans around, stopping in each individual as she talks.*

“The first little idiot you see, with the blue hair is Buggy. He's actually pretty cool if s little much at times. That is his actual nose by the way, he's a bit sensitive about it.

The red head next to him is Shanks. He's the one Roger found in a chest at his valley. I'm 90% certain he's of dragon blood but I ain't no snitch. He's pretty cool until Buggy's around, then they are unbearable.

The dude next to your dad is Rayleigh. He's amazing and a solid fifty percent of the crews' impulse control. The man next to him, Gaban is the other forty percent. The other ten doesn't exist or is split evenly, I'm not quite sure.

Crocus is the doctor. He's pretty amazing and a minor miracle worker. I have no idea how he does it. After a fight though he's 100% of the impulse control.

The big guy in the red coat, that's your dad. Today's not the best day for him but it'll get better. Gonna be honest lil guy. He's probably gonna start looking rough towards the end here. Don't worry though. He's tough.

*The video quickly cuts to the forest and a blur of trees. Laughing and garbled voices can be heard in the background.*

Buggy: Cmon Tsu. Whatcha got there.

Shanks: Yeah, no need to keep secrets.

Tsukari: I'm not telling. Y'all are snitches, Reyleigh would find out in five seconds if I told you.

*Trees stop blurring and Buggy n Shanks step into frame.*

Tsukari: fine but you have to answer honestly. What would you say if you found out Roger had a kid.

Buggy: *face lit up with pure joy* it'd be so great to have a baby sibling. No doubt he'd be amazing. Not as amazing as me but definitely better than Shanks.

Shanks: Rude. They'd be amazing and much better than you. Or me *his grin is wide* cause he'd have us as brothers and we'd never fail to make sure he's even better

*Both boys start arguing over who'd get to teach the kid what*

Tsukari: On the off chance you are actually a sister, my deepest apologies. They a guys and therefore dumb as a bucket of rocks

*Camera pans to them wrestling on the muddy ground and rolling over a small ledge, it jostles as she follows them and shows the two foot drop, then back to Tsukari.*

Tsukari: My apologies to the rocks, the bacteria on them at least have a brain

Boys: Heeeeey”

The video cuts off as Ace bursts out laughing. Marco peeks in looking concerned but lightens up. He sits down on the edge of the bed and gestures towards the snail.

“Heard it's taken a liking to you.” He says, giving him a pointed look.

“Can you keep a secret?” Ace asks, a little unsure. Marco nods yes, and he continues. “I think it's supposed to be mine. Or for me.”

“ I don't doubt it. Unlike pops, some of us have an idea what's on there.” He says with a smile. “Mostly because we were there with Tsu, though the exact contents are vague.”

“Cool. It's kinda neat really.” He doesn't quite feel like sharing yet. But maybe, later.

“I don't doubt it. If Rayleigh's to be believed she took that snail with her on the final voyage for no reason whatsoever.” Marco laughs. “That girl did a lot of random ass shit, but it always has a reason. If Lil Buddy likes you, it's for a reason kid.”

(With that the medic up and left. He was worried about Ace after what Teach had said. It's no secret that Roger was a sore spot for the kid. If whatever Lil Buddy was showing him had him laughing like that, it had to be good.) 

Ace waited a few more minutes before turning back to the snail. He slipped it a few bites of fruit before continuing.

Buggy: Tsu are you ever going to tell us what the snail is for

Shanks: Think about the question you dolt

Tsu: I think momma Rouge might be pregnant and I want sibling to get to know the family

*Both boys, in different clothes, look over at her.*

Tsu: my nose is really sensitive and she's starting to smell different. You know how Capn is so now is the best time for this.

Shanks: How are you going to get the others in on this? 

Buggy: Yeah, Rayleigh will shut it down quick if he catches on

Tsu: *trademark manic grin on her face* not if Roger gets in on it.

Shanks: How are we gonna do that without alerting him.

Tsu: I thought he knew

Buggy: You could say Rouge asked you what he got up to

Tsu: That might work

*Both boys get a look of pure chaotic hope on their faces*

Shanks: For

Buggy: Baby

Tsu: Sibling

Ace isn't sure how to feel watching this. To see two people he knew kinda well planning how to trick his dad into this video diary thing. He isn't sure so he just kinda doesn't choose.

*Video jumps to a shaky video of Buggy running through the woods.*

Buggy: So little future minion I, the great and amazing future Captain Buggy, have decided to share some of my wisdom with you.

Buggy: the wisdom is that if Shanks EVER dares you to pluck WhiteBeard's stash, fruit user or not, jump into the ocean

Buggy: because his startled amusement may spare you his wrath, But his crew is not so merciful 

*The view pans to several angry people chasing after Buggy.*

Buggy: He'll say he'll keep watch. But did he, nooooooooooooooooo”

Ace had to stop and laugh a moment. Gods he's known Buggy for forever. Sure not as the kinda brother it should've been, more like a very distant cousin. He'll be mad about that later. After he hears why.

“*The video jumps again, back to Tsukari. She appears to be tucked under a bush spying on WhiteBeard and Roger. Rayleigh's looking directly into the camera.”

Tsu: Looks like your dad is going after the one piece. Buggy got caught with Lil Buddy yesterday

Tsu: The whole crew knows and is totally on board with the plan. WhiteBeard doesn't but it's probably better for now.

Tsu: He's currently fighting with your dad about borrowing a certain Samurai. Newgate is very proud of his Wano find and doesn't want to lose him or the kids.

Tsu: this kid here is Momo and he's the best

*Camera pans to a tiny black haired kid.*

Momo: why are you spying

Tsu: it's for my future sibling

Momo: will you share

Tsu: of course, you'll be sibling too

Momo: yes!

Tsu: they're talking

Roger: come on Newgate let me borrow him for a year

???: Don't I get a say in this

Newgate: You think you can come in and steal my family

Tsu: oooooooooh

Roger: Please Oden, join my crew

Rayleigh: Please captain Don't bow

Oden: Please get up

Roger: This is the last thing I'll ever ask for

Oden: White-kichi please let me join him

WhiteBeard: *definitely doesn't look happy*

WhiteBeard: we were practically brothers 

Tsu: let's give them some privacy, bye love you”

“Now I know why he's mad at my dad. Dude cost him a samurai.” Ace said to the empty room. He gave the snail a few more treats and went to rejoin the group.

“Back so soon, little flame.” Whitebeard asks.

“Yeah. I am. Mind if I join?” He watches as his crew shuffles about, eagerly making room for him. The snail slides down his shoulder and moves to a tiny plate beside his.

“That thing really has taken a liking to you.” Masked Deuce comments from his spot. “I've never seen one this active before.”

“I think it's because Tsu took them everywhere.” Ace suggests. “Most just get left places but this boy has seen things.”

“Gurarararara, maybe little one.” WhiteBeard laughs. “No one knows though because it's a temperamental thing. Refuses to listen to anyone.”

“Maybe he's just waiting for the right person.” Marco adds in.

“Maybe. Maybe.” Whitebeard's smile is fond, but sad.

“C'mon now pops. Don't be so gloomy. It's dinner time.” Thatch calls over as the crew starts bringing out plates. Dinner passed by in a haze of stories and Ace finally starts to relax.

Chapter Text

Another hard mission done. Another almost failure avoided. Everything was going well until they passed by that bar. With that stupid familiar sailor sitting there. He made that same comment and like an old partly healed wound that got poked at, all the infection and ooze that was his soul came spilling out.

“Hey Tommie you ever hear that joke? The one from East Blue” Binny asks. Ace, recognizing the voice picks up pace despite Marco's questioning looks.

“ Oh, the one about Roger.” Tommie replies. The crew slowes a bit. Forcing Ace to do so as well. Damn it.

“Yeah, about what kind of kid he'd have if it lived.” Binny, ever the jokester has to bring this up now.

“Yeah, as if they'd suffer that monster to live.” Tommie burst out laughing, as did most of the bar. Nope, not today. Rules be damned, he bolted, forcing Marco and Jozu to give chase.

He ran out of stamina three blocks over and still too far from the ship to safely break. Instead he wedged himself in the tallest most hidden part of the trees he could find. It took Marco several hours to find him. Whether that was because of his successful hiding or him going back to fight the sailor he wasn't sure.

All he knew was that pops was angry but not at him. Then he wasn't angry at all. Apparently fighting sailors is ok if you're defending the crew. Nevermind that they were ignoring that he wasn't technically crew. It felt almost suffocatingly warm.

Like every other time it became too much. He ran and hid. And like every other time Lil Buddy was there. He reached up and gave the snail a few pets. Sure enough another video popped up.

“*video shows Tsukari standing in an open field with Buggy and Shanks.*

Shanks: How did your first meeting with white beard go?

Buggy: oh let me tell you

Buggy: *fake Australian accent* see that guy over 

Shanks: no that's not quite right

Shanks: *even worse accent* this here kids is a

Rogers: what the hell is going on

*Video shakes as the kids try to hide it, image displays a sideways Roger staring directly at the snail*

Buggy: trying to remember how your first meeting with WhiteBeard went.

Shanks: yeah

Rogers: *laughing* fine hold it properly

*Blurry buggy as he picks it up*

Buggy: sorry baby sibling

Roger: *raises an eyebrow then laughs.*

*Scuffling as the kids crouch down around him.*

Roger: Hey kids, this here is a rare beast known as a Rumbling Giant 

*Video pans to WhiteBeard arguing with Tsukari, currently holding a journal, then back to Roger*

Roger: I'm gonna wrestle it

*Shaky video of Roger attempting and failing to knock Whitebeard over with a full body tackle*

Newgate: What the actual Fuck Roger, first you steal my Samurai and his cute family, then this

Roger: Don't worry kids, Es a feisty bloke but he won't bite

Newgate: *picks Roger up by the back of his jacket, much like a mother cat would a kitten*

Newgate: What. The. Actual. Fuck

*Video pans to Marco falling out of a tree laughing.*’’

“Oh so that's what she was doing.” The sudden sound of Pop's voice in the room had him flailing about.

“Yeah.” He wasn't going to comment more than that.

“Oh gods. She caught that?” Marco dives in, reaching for the snail. Ace just moves it out of the way.

“I forgot how tiny you used to be.” Thatch started cooing.

Ace was content to ignore them for the moment. Only taking the food and offering some lettuce up to Lil Buddy. After a few scratches and the others finally settling it continues.

“*Video shows Roger grinning like a loon. Buggy and Shanks little specs of red and blue behind him*

Buggy: Is it working

Roger: I think so

Shanks: I know it's definitely two taps

Buggy: eye is glow, we're good 

Shanks: don't worry I'll sneak you extra melon

Roger: See that man over there *pans to white beard* 

Roger: He's your godfather and doesn't know it yet.” 

Buggy: see that girl, Tsu *pans to a short female kid with dusty gold wings and fox like ears and tail* 

Shanks: she's the best big sister ever

Newgate: You want me to What!?!

Newgate: ROGER!!!

Roger: *very quietly* she's also a menace

Buggy: Give her hell

Shanks: She deserves it

*All three give identical grins before breaking out into a run.*

Boys: Love You Bye’’

“Oh that bastard.” Newgate grumbles, though his smile was definitely fond. Ace just looks over at the two baffled. How did his attempt to escape his destiny land him right in its path.

“Tsu: Oh My God little sibling. Oden is the best ever. Dude can cook and your new siblings are adorable.

*Video pans from Tsu to a tiny blue haired kid sleeping in her arms.*

Tsu: Your dad is absolutely obsessed with taking care of these kids. Says he needs to brush up on his skills so he doesn't accidentally traumatize you. I think he'll do fine. Any first time parenting trauma was taken by the bros.

Buggy: Heeeey.

Shanks: Fair 

Tsu: wake the baby, lose a limb.

Tsu: We met with Garp yesterday. He's kinda cool but a bit annoying. Can't be mad though cause he gave me a message.

Tsu: My boys are fine. Sengoku took them a few years back. Dofi is a lil traumatized from things, as is Rosi but they're alive.

Tsu: Rosi became a Marine, Dofi almost did but decided pirate to warlord was better. I might join them later, retake my old title…….I haven't told you that story yet. Maybe later.

Buggy: Yeah. How did you meet the Marines new top recruits

Shanks: probably something sad and traumatic, don't push

Tsu: Gods these boys are dumb

Shanks: We're gonna cover the trip to one piece but not fully. 

Buggy: Rayleigh pointed out that the Marines might try to take Lil Buddy if we record everything 

Tsu: Rosi also pointed out the Pirates will want him. So he gets to stay with your Godfather.

*The baby opens its eyes and starts fussing*

Tsu: lil sister is waking up. Gotta go.

Everyone: Bye, Love You”

Ace just sat there, eyes watery and definitely emotionally compromised. He looks over at Marco and Pops and just gives in. That's his godfather. Someone who knew his dad well enough to get the title. Someone Tsu trusted enough to leave this with.

A weird combination of numb and far too full of stuff, he walks over and just flops into Whitebeard's lap. Marco settles on the leg next to him and starts rubbing his back. The tears that didn't come before start flowing freely now. 

He lets it all bleed out. The venom he'd heard spewed his way since birth. The fear and pain growing up knowing you were hated, unwanted, that lingered long after the words had passed. 

The joy of meeting Sabo. Then Luffy. The chaos of his childhood with Dadan. The terror that was the Burning of the Grey Terminal. The loss of Sabo.

Every secret and horror held within came spilling out. Every nightmare and fear given breath, rips its way out between desperate pleading sobs.

And through it all gentle hands, two reasonable sets and one giant one, patting, soothing and holding him through it all. Eventually the tears dry up. Eventually he sits up, still squished between Marco and Thatch in pops lap. Thatch hands him a bottle of water and Marco picks up Lil Buddy who nudges at Ace's hand. Without thinking he gives it a little pat.

Chapter Text

Marco, WhiteBeard and Thatch all three curse as the snail starts up again. Attempting to stop it just resulted in Ace getting upset again so they let it go.

“*Video cuts to Tsukari, full Marine gear sitting on a branch with him and Sabo running around in the background*

Tsu: Baby bro you are just toooooooo cute

Tsu: I know you'll probably be wondering why I kept playing hide n seek with you guys but I just needed these moments to escape before I strangled your adorable ass without you knowing why

Tsu: Gods above you guys are so cute and angsty for being ankle biters

*Pans to the two kids and zooms in*

Sabo: There's no way pirates kids spawn in chests

Ace: But Marines can come from Seagulls

Sabo: How about civilians huh?

Ace: Gardens, like cabbages

Sabo: Ok fine, civilians are vegetables, pirates are treasures and Marines are ugly birds

*The two glare at each other before breaking out into giggles. Tsukari looks so fucking proud and fond*

Tsu: You are so going to kill me for that. I couldn't resist. You guys are too damn cute.

Tsu: I've officially only met you twice at this point but I can't wait until I can just sweep your dumb asses up in hugs and smother you.

Sabo: I can't tell if she is the worst or best sitter ever

Sabo: Cause her being here means my parents don't care 

Ace: but there isn't a lot of sitting

Ace: which is pretty standard, can't stand us

“Shit, I never thought I'd see him again.” Ace mumbled, voice still tear rough.

“That's Sabo?” Thatch asks, eyeing the tiny blonde one.

“Yeah. He was the coolest.” Ace answered. “I'm suddenly terrified she caught that moment.”

“Honestly, same.” Marco mumbles.

“* Video jumps to Ace and Sabo running around as a tiny Luffy pouts in the background*

Tsu: I'm going to kill your big brother Shanks. I take back everything nice I ever said.

*Video pans to him and Sabo stretching Luffy out like a piece of taffy”

Tsu: I swear if you menaces are using your brother as a jump rope so help me

*Thee guilty sets of eyes look over at her. The moment she gives in is clearly visible.*

Tsu: I swear to the heavens if either you become a Marine I'm having your uncle's put you through the ringer *her look is so soft and fond as she wrangles the three into a tight hug*

“Whhhhhyyyyyyy” Ace whines into his hands. The combined laughter of Thatch and Marco wasn't helping. Nor was pop's but he's earned it after everything Ace put him through.

There's a lot of assorted video footage of her stalking the three of them about. Some of it is pointed looks and barely muffled laughter. Others are of her openly terrorizing Garp as the three of them cause pure chaos.

(Emotional Teams Ahead, Burning of Grey Terminal) 

“*Video starts with a very disgruntled Garp, dyed all shades of weird, giving her a very disapproving look*

Tsu: they are getting the same training as in your fancy school but much more feral

Garp: they dyed my clothes using plant water

Tsu: as a team that'd put most of my CP units to shame

“Was that Sengoku?!” Marco whisper shouts.

“Yes it was.” Whitebeard comments. Eyes definitely full of curiosity. The next clip plays.

“*The sky is full of ash and the blurry footage showed just how fast she was moving. The red/orange/yellow of the fields below setting the time frame*

Tsu: I know lil Buddy this is a grim sight but I have to find the ankle biters. None of them are home and I'm terrified.

Tsu: fuck the ash is bad and the smell. I hadn't seen it this bad since Homing fell.

Tsu: gods this bad bad bad. 

*A transponder snail can be seen in a harness In her left side*

Tsu: Dragon you useless over grown gecko, stop pouting and do something about the fire

Tsu: you manipulate weather give me a good storm, it might not douse the flames but it'll help with the smoke and hopefully keep the rest from catching

*Muffled cursing and insults are heard*

Tsu: I think I found something

*The ash clears a second and the flames grow higher as she swoops down*

Tsu: not the kids but a few civilians. I'll get them out but the kids are my priority

Dragon: the people….

Tsu: the people aren't my kids. I'll burn this island myself if it means they'll be safe

Dragon: I understand but….

Tsu: But nothing you overgrown ASS, they threatened MY KIDS, where do you think Dofi learnt his possessive Rage from, THEY. ARE. MINE

???: Don't worry Tsu, we're looking

Tsu: thank you

*Footage pans around until she spots three small huddled forms*

Tsu: Oh thank fuck there y'all are.

Sabo: *eyes half open* Tsu, I tried, I tried to stop it, to warn

Tsu: shhhh it's ok I've got you. I heard you. Got here fast as possible

Sabo: it still caught

Tsu: That's fine, you tried, that's what matters, you tried and I heard and we've got this.

Sabo: are the others

Tsu: your bros are fine, the others we're working on, Luffy's dad's a useless gecko most days but combating this particular type of cruelty is his specialty

Sabo: good……that's…..good

Tsu: rest baby bro, I've got you

*Video cuts to clear skies and a Tenryuubito ship. The cannon fires and there is a blur of motion It doesn't steady until Tsu is standing on a beach poking at Sabo*

*It's cuts again to a panicked Tsu frantically pacing outside of a doctor's office*

Tsu: I'm soooooooo sorry lil Ace, I flew as fast as I could

Tsu: I don't even think it was the fire, it might have been, don't like fires, don't think you guys will either

Tsu: shared emotional trauma was not in the family plans*a bitter laugh* best laid plans and all that

Tsu: I've got time, let me tell you about how I met my sheepies

Tsu: It was purely by accident ya know. My oldest brother, a gladiator on Baratachi, gave me the gift of my devil fruit, he thought I'd be the first to fly free from that place.

And I did, I flew soooo far and made so many friends. For three years, the shadow of my family and all the blood they shed, slavers the lot of them, couldn't touch me. Learnt so much from the White Rabbit and Sky Kings. Eventually I reached my limit. 

There was a collective hiss from everyone else in the group. But Ace knew better. Had seen the way she talked about Rosi and Dofi. About their fall from grace. Nothing could really change his opinion.

“I thought I was doomed. Exhausted and hurt with no energy to get food. Then sweet little Rosinante appeared. And his brother Doflamingo followed.

They started sneaking me parts of their meals and any food they could find. I stayed hidden, mostly as some odd canine mix, and became their puppy. It was actually kinda nice, having that odd family.

Eventually that family grew. Dofi and Rosi brought some of the other younger Tenryuubito in on it. That's how I met Dragon, Kirin and Kitsune. Other children of soft souled, if smarter, Tenryuubito. It was amazing.

Then a few years later, Homing went down the mountain. He gave up being a Tenryuubito and decided to live as a regular man. Except he had no idea how. I tried to show him but Kitsune's uncle saw me and I was stuck for another year. 

By the time I caught up, Kong had given me a CP title so I could follow. Gods it was Soo bad. The difference a year can make. My boys were so scrawny and grumpy. I tried to get them caught up, how to fish and hunt and forage. It went ok except Homing kept putting his foot in his mouth. Didn't realize the consequences of being a wounded god amongst starving civilians.

Didn't realize until too late that he went from fox to mouse. And was living amongst the hens his brethren kept terrorizing.”

Everyone in the room hissed. That was a bad combination. Angry folks were rarely rational. Confronted with the source of their anguish, it was far worse.

“Tsu: I'll admit, my attachment to Homing was non-existent, to Materia it was weak but there. But my boys were MINE. And these little……ok…calm down.

Tsu: I will admit in hindsight I could possibly, maaaaaaybe understand their rage. Sue me I'm biased, they were mine. But they shouldn't have brought the boys into it. Dofi was 11, Rosi was 9. It shouldn't have been a thought.

Tsu: But blood of God's and all that. It's how I knew they'd try to bleed you too. The fate of Gol…den blood I suppose.

*She stops pacing and sits down with her back to the wall in the smallest corner she could.*

Tsu: Sea Stone is a bitch for all fruit users. Even more so for me because it takes a moment for my navigation system to reboot. I'd never hated it more than that night. Blindfolded and strung up like fish in a smoker. The smell of blood and ash in my nostrils, the pained screams of my boys I couldn't reach. Worst night of my life.

Tsu: Worse was when the black of the blindfold became the black of unconsciousness then the dark of a crate. Your dad found me shortly after. Took everything he and Rayleigh had to keep me there at first. Let me walk the ruins. Found……well let's say the only thing I didn't find was Dofi and Rosi.

Tsu: I was so happy when Garp showed up with the letter from Rosi before we set out on that last mission. So happy that my boys had survived and were there for me to find. A little broken but still mine.

“I…fuck…the…gods that had to hurt.” Ace whispers. “Running around in that burning valley.”

“Still went looking for you though.” Marco points out.

“Sabo was as golden a blonde as the Donquixote boys she loves. Seeing him like that had to hurt sooooo bad.” He points to two figures walking into view.

“Yet she still went looking Little Flame. For all three of you.” Newgate repeats.

Rosi: hey there sis, no need to fret.

Dofi: yeah we're here. Still here.

*Two ridiculously tall blondes walk into view and sit waaay to close sandwiching her between them. One wearing a pink fur coat and the other standard marine garb.”

Rosi: Telling little brother about us huh?

Dofi: Of course she is, he needs to hear something amazing right now.

Tsu: Meeting them for the first time after was both the greatest thing ever and had me wanting to kill them.

Dofi: oh shit

Tsu: these two fuckers refused to talk to each other for six months because Rosinante ran off to get help when a marine ship landed on the island. Too late to help the parents but Sengoku managed to save the kids

Tsu: Apparently the Five were divided on the whole falling thing but didn't like where they chose. Apparently they were supposed to go live in Marine Ford not some North Bl….. ah being biased again. 

Tsu: Their rage was valid even if I disapprove of the methods. That island wasn't supposed to be their destination, something about high tributes and recent problems. I am very biased bro, sorry.

Tsu: anyway six months they didn't talk because Rosinante found then vice Admiral Sengoku who was looking for them, took them in and sent them to a marine boarding school. 

Dofi: *Groan of frustrated soul deep anguish*

Rosi: God damn fucking math tests

Dofi: FUCKING HATE MATH WHO CARES IF I CAN'T SHOW THE WORK IF THE ANSWER IS CORRECT

Rosi: how do you even show the work for calculations involving cannon fire

Tsu: as you can see it went ok

Dofi: *walking into the far distance as hospital security escorts him away* AT LEAST I CAN FUCKING FLY

Rosi: at least we can Geppo

Tsu: as you can see, they have feelings about it

Doctor: Tsukari!!

Tsu: Gotta go, love you always, bye 

Rosi: can't wait to officially meet you little brother until then, see you soon

The group watches as she runs off, the oldest brother is drug off and the youngest gives the snail a little pat before it goes black. They aren't quite sure what to think.

“I think she actually brought them over a few months before. Not that we really talked. Just saw them around.” Ace says. “Drove gramps nuts, letting them officially on the island. But they were amazing. Rosinante is the best and everyone's favorite.”

“You grew up playing with the Marine's finest and still became a pirate.” Thatch doesn't ask so much as state the fact. Probably hoping it'd make sense if stated out loud. Ace just laughs.

“That's because Doflamingo is a warlord and tells the best stories.” He explains after a few minutes.

“Those are the Donquixote brothers!?” Marco stutters out.

“Yup. Second best babysitters. Dofi is more adventurous but Rosi wasn't above interesting or creative training. Something about prepping us for a boarding school that never came.” Ace laughs.

“Probably for a very good reason.” Thatch mutters.

“After that freak out I'd probably find it and thank it.” Ace responds. All of them nod in agreement.

Chapter Text

Another day of being tossed around for training was done. The quest went ok. He definitely got shot but thankfully logia invulnerability was a thing. 

Unfortunately, Teach seemed to be getting worse instead of better. More stupid barbs about his dad from some of the ally members. Those stung a little less now.

“Hey Lil Buddy. Been a busy day for me. How about you?” He asks the little snail. “Pops is curious if you have more secrets.”

The little Cameko wiggles its eye stalks and comes over for treats. A few pets and apple slices later and he's settled on Ace's head as the boy is sandwiched between Thatch and Marco.

*Video opens on a mummy wrapped Sabo lying on a hospital bed*

Sabo: Hey Little brother found out why Tsu always has this snail with her. Kinda amazing right.

Sabo: my escape didn't quite go as planned but I made it out. Tsu is currently napping with our coolest uncles, regardless of what Kuzan says

*Pans to an unconscious Tsu sprawled across the blonde brothers from earlier.*

Sabo: ripped to pieces for hours after I woke up from the anesthesia. Once she knew I wasn't dying that was

Sabo: drugs are strong, feel kinda fuzzy. Punishment is spending the next four years at that boarding school Rosi was always prepping us for

Sabo: Dofi is convinced I'll be thankful for all the craziness he put us through

*The sound of a door being opened followed by increased beeping sounds*

Sabo: love you always bye

“Shit he's alive.!?” The whole group screeches.

“Where the actual fuck has he been?” Ace whines.

“Shoulda got a thicker blanket.” Marco squawks.

*Switches to a slightly older non-wrapped up Sabo in a terrible blue/white plaid school uniform.*

Sabo: Uncles were right, math is horrible, tests are horrible, school is horrible but at least we can fly

Sabo: Geppo is Amazing. You've probably officially met Rosi not long ago but he's a somewhat permanent fixture here at the academy. Anytime they need a high ranking marine to do things here he's constantly over.

Sabo: I thought it was because Tsu was worried but he just legitimately likes playing with all us kids. Then I met Law and well…we have a cousin now. Three in fact.

Sabo: I'll try to introduce you to Baby 5, Buffalo and Law later. Maybe, Tsu is visiting and doesn't part from Lil Buddy long but maybe might. Don't know

???: Sabo get down we're gonna be late

*Video pans showing the surrounding island and the roof of a tall building*

Sabo: The math sucks but at least we can fly

*Sky walks onto the ground* these are the cousins

Law: Tsu is going to kill you

Buffalo: Oh she's been looking everywhere for you

Baby 5: you are in sooooooo much trouble

Sabo: She'll forgive me, gotta go little bro love you always

“He got sent to the academy.” Ace says around a shudder.

“Academy?” Thatch asks.

“On Guanhao, it's a CP training ground and the uncles hated it. Well Dofi hated it Rosi was ok aside from the math tests “

*Sabo pops up again*

Sabo: dude I passed. One year down, three more to go.

Sabo: Tsu is back again and losing it. Can't tell you why, it's a secret but Gods only Luffy'd manage something like this and live to tell the tale

Sabo: give ol Akagami a heyo for me if you can. That is if you see this before I meet him

Sabo: and I will because Tsu explained what I'm training for and it's a good cause. Better than working under that useless gecko that helped spawn Luffy.

Sabo: and Gods hearing Dragon, the Dragon, referred to as a useless gecko is amazing

“Ah the universal love language of Garp.” Ace mutters as he rubs his head. “I swear our skulls are as thick as they are because of him.”

“Probably a good thing.” Marco snarks, “given how you tend to run into things head first.”

The laughter was not necessary. Not at all. It was nice though.

*Sabo once again only standing on top of the school roof.*

Sabo: Everytime I take a math test I'm gonna run around this island using Geppo so I remember why I stay here.

Law: Best medics in the Marines train here. But the tests are killing me

Sabo: med students are absolutely crazy. 8 years of this lil brother. 8. Years. Why

Law: Because I will find a non-devil fruit solution to Amber Lead poisoning if it kills me

Sabo: not if your study schedule does it first 

Law: fair….I may have made a mistake

Sabo: and we thank you for your sacrifice…..be nice to the Marine doctors Garp takes you to Little bro, they suffer soooooo much for that title

“Soooo how long?” Ace asks Marco.

“Several years kid and a lot on the seas.” He answers. “Glad it wasn't at school though. Had a mentor, good woman but strict.”

*Video pans to Sabo getting tossed across the room by a very square man with a long nose.*

Sabo: you trying to kill me, that coulda broke bones

???: Use armament you idiot and you won't break bones

Sabo: Tsu Kaku is being mean

Kaku: mean would be practicing outside in the rain

*Poorly muffled giggling*

Tsu: lil bro for someone who enjoyed wrestling so much your big brother sucks at fighting

*Sabo is again tossed towards a wall but remembers the armament Haki*

Tsu: this isn't a one sided beat down. Trying to teach bro to subconsciously reach for Haki. Armament is done through a game of toss where the biggest risk is broken bones

*Another toss but slightly off, a quick geppo pushes him from the wall into a crouched position*

Kaku: my bad, good instincts

???: give your arms a rest, my turn

Kaku: fine but play nice Luci, he's marked for 10 not 9 and Tsu is attached

Sabo: why is a giant leopard in a suit…..shit those are claws

Tsu: that's Luci…..he takes things a bit seriously

Sabo: ok the fact that you can use Armament on your claws and fangs is awesome but ….owiwow

Luci: dodge or improve don't talk

Tsu: fighting increases your level of Haki, the more you use the stronger it gets

*Another successful swipe but no blood is drawn*

Tsu: better to up it here with trained medical staff

*Pans to an older less stressed Law clearly lecturing a contrite Kaku before back to the fight*

Tsu: than risk stupid injuries out in the field. Observation is hard though. Keep trying to poach the best sane one but Linlin keeps her kids close.

Tsu: sucks cause Katakuri is amazing. Ran into him a few times at Dresrosa and he's absolutely awesome. Sadly Linlin only does marriage contracts and we aren't about that.

Sabo: fuck that hurt

Luci: getting better but you need to focus

Tsu: gotta go he's being a tsundere cat bastard

Tsu: Sabo don….t run

*Sabo takes off across the arena Soru Swift and Luci chases after*

Tsu: fun fact, Zoan type devil fruits cause human and animal instincts to go buggy. Predatory zoans are worse about it than prey type

“I didn't know that about Zoan users.” Thatch says as they all stare at Marco. Marco who says things like ‘lets make a blanket nest' and ‘anyone ever get the urge to just….swallow something whole' out of nowhere.

“That…explains…some things.” Marco mutters.

“Ya wanna sit on an egg and see if….ow. fair.” Thatch goes to comment but gets bopped by pops for his efforts.

“Soooooo Pheonix instincts huh.” Ace definitely wants to hear stories.

“Never going to happen.” He answers.

“Sooooooooo, the dancing?” Thatch asks.

“I will end you. With a rusty spoon.” Marco grits out.

*Video shows Sabo standing next to a very exhausted looking Law* 

Tsu: Our boy did it guys. He graduated. Dadan is going to kill me for not letting her know about this but no real choice.

Tsu: Dawn Island is kinda important to the Five and if his parents knew he was alive they'd have him drug back. So not even Garp or Dragon know, just me and the Donquixote Bros. It was killing Rosi in the beginning but he stopped grouching after meeting the parents.

Tsu: Now your big bro is the proud marine grandson Garp keeps praying for, except he's going undercover with Kaku out the gate.

Tsu: no details cause government business, yada yada, military confidentiality, drone drone, Sphagnum says BS ya know, but he's in good hands. Only the best for Spamhands dearest boy.

Tsu: Law is going as the medic in training. The girl next to him, Umeko is the best teacher ever. She's fast, clever and tiny but MIGHTY. He's in good hands.

*Video jumps to Sabo, Law and Umeko standing in front of a mirror with three others behind him.*

Sabo: lil bros meet Chime, our Cameko den den mushi, Lil Buddy's youngest kid.

Sabo: This is Umeko *pans to a slightly bedraggled but amused woman with maroon hair and lilac eyes* she's got the fix-fix fruit and is the best shipwright/handyman you'll ever meet. Also a trained medic with a reading hobby.

“Damn but that's an impressive fruit.” Pops mutters. “Limited only by the user's knowledge and understanding.”

Sabo: This is Law *pans to a tall lanky fellow with black spikey hair* He's four years older than us and an apprentice medic. Holder of the Opi-Opi fruit and the best strategist.

Sabo: You've met Baby 5 and Buffalo before. But we've got new people.

Sabo: This trio is Penguin, Sachi and Bepo. They came with Law and are awesome. *The group of three, two with hats matching their namesake and a polar bear wave*

Sabo: Behind them we have ms Monet, a Snow Queen

Monet: We've met before Ace, though it'll have probably been a few years by now

“Roughly two.” Ace answers.

Sabo: And Boss Kaku is upstairs getting the final orders. It's gonna be a long mission and we only gotta do this cause they needed a video of the crew. I'll see ya round bros and send this to Lil Buddy for reasons.

Crew: Love you always bye

“I'm not crying.” Ace doesn't exactly lie.

“No shame in it, little flame.” Newgate whispers.

“How much did she record?” Marco asks as he eyes the older snail.

“Most of the last voyage at least plus other things it seems.” Thatch speculates.

“So a whole lot assuming it's just her. More if we count Sabo or your uncles.” Marco adds on. Everyone turning to look at the now snoozing snail, curious what all it knows.

Chapter Text

The next few missions were easy. The coiled burning rage in his soul easing up during his stay here. Sure he had no real intentions of joining the crew permanently but Pops knew that. As did his crew. Luffy was waiting and once he was free he promised he'd join him.

But just because Ace wouldn't lie and accept a position he didn't intend to keep doesn't mean he'd do the same to his crew. Anyone who wanted to stay could. They joined knowing Luffy'd join them later. But that was before Whitebeard's hospitality after the failed fight.

These days he didn't retreat into the dark store rooms of Moby Dick as often. Mostly his room or Pops jacket pocket when he needed space. However Lil Buddy still sought him out.

“Something cool today?” He asks the little snail. Three wiggles had him up to get Thatch, Marco and snacks for Lil Buddy. Once settled it started.

*Video shows young Tsukari sitting on an all white island*

Tsu: baby sibling we're in Skypeia and it's AMAZING. Everything here is made of clouds and it's crazy. It's like walking across the backs of sheep.

Tsu: I'd flown by them before I met my boys but never landed cause I was with the Sky Kings and they're kinda hunted here. Sooooo glad we stopped here

Tsu: Gan Fall is awesome and is currently telling Capn how to safely get down. Gon a see if Tom can add wings next time cause this is scary in a boat

*The next few minutes are a bird's eye view of the island terrain.”

Tsu: The green over there is from where a jet stream launched a piece of the island and its residents into the sky. That old kids story is wrong, there was a city of gold and people waiting.

*A few lazy laps are taken to showcase the older damaged ruins of a gold plated city with a bell in the center.*

Tsu: Wonder if you'll ever make it here. I hope you do cause it's amazing. Just….get a ship with wings…..down is going to be scary

Buggy/Shanks: WITH A SQUID

Roger: Octopus

Rayleigh:.....not much better

Scopper: Oh a whole octopus, you hear that kids, it's an octopus we're fine * his tone couldn't fit anymore sarcasm in it if he tried*

Tsu: Don't worry guys I have wings I'll get you

Buggy: *intense Sobbing*

Shanks: *Visible regrets*

*Video cuts to a bright sunny vista over miles of endless ocean. A flash of brown is seen shooting by followed by intense screaming and curses before a purple balloon puffs into existence but visibly struggles*

Tsu: huh the octopus did help. Better go help the octopus though. Glad I ate soooooo many of them

The troop just stares at the image for a long moment. No one quite sure what to make of the scene before them. Ace thinks maybe it's a miracle he was born at all. 

*Video shifts to a light yellow Fishman sitting on a bench beside a flowing canal.*

Tsu: Hey Tom, You've known Capn awhile, what would you say if Roger had a kid?

Tom: Ah a loaded question little pup. I'd gladly welcome the little ankle biter into my shop and I'd happily trust them with my ships, my men and my kids cause I know any kid that grows up with this kind of family is bound to be a great one And if such a kid were to exist I'd happily offer him a place to stay and become his own man. Iceberg and Franky would definitely enjoy the company.

And I'll say this. Regardless of what choices his old man may or may not make and things he may or may not do, you are not responsible for them. There will be big shoes and dark shadows but greet each new day with a ‘DON’ and you'll be set.

*Video cuts again to a bird's eye view of a city carved up by blue canals and large sea animals.*

Tsu: Hey baby sibling Water 7 is amazing and Tom's Workers are awesome. Tom knows Roger is planning something big, especially after Oden tried to poach Franky and wants to record a thing for you.

Tsu: The small blues are, as Croc would say “full of bitter silver medalists who couldn't beat your dad or Newgate in a fight” and you'll be an easy target in that little pond.

Tsu: so I'm going to start doing what Tom suggested and add a little question to this diary and get some of our acquaintances to answer it

Tsu: I think it'd be neat. To hear just what the old pirates, friends and rivals who actually met the man and held their own had to say, not just the crew. Cause we are definitely biased.

“I think the question in the beginning is what gets asked.” Marco says.

Iceberg: Ok this is gonna sound kinda stupid but I have two dreams. The more achievable one is to unite all the shipyards on Water 7 into one company so there won't be anymore crazy competition amongst the crews

Iceberg: My second one is even crazier than Tom's. I wanna build a floating island so we don't have to worry about Aqua Laguna anymore.

Shanks: that'd be amazing

*Franky is now sitting by the canal*

Franky: I'm going to build the greatest ship ever and sail all across the world. I'm still working on the plans though and working a few kinks out of some ideas but it'll be the coolest ship ever.

Buggy: ok that's awesome

*Tom is on the bench again*

Tom: Ah my dream little ones, well I hope to build a train that can travel across the sea, the tracks have to be flexible to bend with the waves but firm enough to not drift away, one day I hope you'll see it, and maybe I can build you an even better ship than your dad's

“Shit. I'm totally taking Iceberg to see Thriller Bark. Gecko's prissy ass be damned.” Ace mutters.

“Agreed.” Marco echoes.

*Camera shows a much older Tsukari sitting on the roof of an old warehouse in a more updated if out of date version of water 7*

Tsu: came back after some good ol fashioned Government training with lil Rosi and it sucked.

Tsu: Tenryuubito did not like your dad's little stunt and decided to try Tom for treason it went ……. Ok at first. He got the funding and time to build the train.

*Camera pans to a navy blue train sitting on the open ocean*

Tsu: *voice thick with unshed tears* meet the Puffing Tom, took them a year but they did it. Runs to the three main islands this side of Paradise including Eines Lobby.

*Pans back to a crying Tsu*

Tsu: it was going so great. The judge was impressed, he didn't want to fulfill the order and was so happy he could spare them. Then fucking Spamham showed up, caused fucking chaos like only that purple haired ass can and Tom took the blame to spare the kids.

Tsu: he could only be pardoned for one crime. And he refused to see building your Dad's ship as a crime. The Oro Jackson was a work of art and Tom was always proud of his work, did everything with a DON that man

Tsu: but his stubborn will and pride has been passed on. Those boys of his have done good. You'll probably see it yourself before you see this but Iceberg has slowly been getting a united workforce going here. 

Tsu: Me and Franky may have been running a secret campaign to get him elected mayor. If only so he can protect those crews from Tom's fate.

Tsu: he's not amused but it's for the best. Might even let Kaku and Sabo vibe here for a bit to hone some skills.

Tsu: Do me a favor little brother, please kidnap Iceberg and drag him off to Thriller Bark. It'd be perfect for his dreams

*Franky and two ladies can be seen dancing in the background*

Tsu: Technically because of Spamham Franky can't be his old self…. Technically you'd only know him as Franky……huh, weird

Tsu: anyway while big Bro Iceberg is off uniting the workers and civilians Bigger Bro Franky, a fucking cyborg by the way, is off cleaning up and running the underworld here so everything is running squeaky clean and no one can stir up trouble

Tsu: still got a few kinks but nothing is wrinkle free and it makes for predictable but unstable training ground for new blood. All good pirates stop at water 7, so learning to profile and infiltrate new promising crews is best done here

*Franky does a complicated interpretive dance move with a bit of street style breakdancing thrown in*

“A little ashamed I didn't think of it first.” Newgate comments.

The rest of the videos that day are of the slow transformation of water 7 into it's more modern glory. Sometimes it's Tsu running around showing him random interesting things or changes. Other times it's an exhausted looking Sabo chasing after or running from Kaku and Luci. There was an interesting one showing Franky's guide to pick pocketing featuring the smoothest handoffs Pops had ever seen.

Chapter Text

The rage was gone along with the guilt. Ace still wasn't sure why he was born. Why they'd choose to bring someone like him into the world. But he wasn't mad about being here. He wasn't content. But he wasn't mad.

Which is probably why Lil Buddy climbed onto his head as he was vibing with the crew. Wiggles his little stalks a few times and stated up.

*Buggy is holding the camera and obviously hiding in a tree*

Buggy: Primal islands are the worst. You stop there thinking it'd be an easy restocking trip cause the plants, fruits and animals are huge than your captain gets spotted and the next thing you know you're being hunted by a giant Dino Chicken

*Pans to Roger and Rayleigh running away from an allosaurus as Oden, Momosuke and Shanks are running from a giant Boar like thing.*

Buggy: Worst field trip ever. Food is going to be amazing but is it worth it?

Tsu: *manic cackling as a giant winged raptor descends upon the boar* I will have sooooooooooooo many new forms from this

Buggy: sister is crazy lil sibling, absolutely mad

*Video jumps to the hazy outline of a giant bridge structure*

Tsu: *in a low whisper to Oden* They are trying to build a bridge between islands. It won't work but the Tenryuubito don't really care. Been working on it for hundreds of years.

Tsu: it's why it's a good thing Wano has been closed so long. It's one of the few safe places, though Kaido is………problematic. Still better than the current World Nobles, though not by much.

Oden: I see.

Tsu: *with a soft smile and mirthless laugh* The five are working on it though. Trying to gentle the fangs and claws of the current generations, they've finally realized that at the current rate this world will eventually crack. Though Roger's drive might just finish doing that, 

Oden: he's in such a hurry, your captain

Tsu: Man's running on borrowed time. Everyone kinda knows it, a life that warm and bright with a soul that burns that hot, burns from both ends. It's about to meet in the middle and he wants to go with a bang.

“Oh…that's…it kinda makes sense.” Ace says, stunned.

“That fool.” Newgate mutters. “Never said a damned word about being sick.”

*Video of a very familiar landscape fills the wall*

Tsu: Hey sibling welcome to Sabaody Archipelago. You'll probably have seen this place by now but I'll show you anyway.

Shanks: This is the best dock there is, Dock 10. Close to all the cool stuff but outside enough the Marines and Nobles won't be here.

Buggy: But there is one closer to the park.

Shanks: Yeah and it's also closer to the marines

Buggy: Fair, still 27 is the best

Tsu: honestly your big brothers are ridiculous. But I guess we'll roll with it.

*There's a lot of blurry motion as the snail is passed from Tsu to Buggy before centering on a young Tsukari. Her wings this time are deep indigo with matching cat-like ears and tail.*

Tsu: we gotta grab some stuff real quick so it's arial mode for us.

Buggy: Yes, flying is the Best

“I'm very emotionally compromised right now and it's not even for me.” Marco says around the sniffling.

“Yeah, who wouldn't be.” Thatch mutters.

Both look at Ace and the captain who seemed focused on what was displayed. No doubt waiting for the next big surprise.

*Video shows a very large oarfish swimming alongside the ship.*

Buggy: coated ships are amazing little sibling. Look at all the cool fish and things down here.

Roger: Hey Rayleigh you hear anything

Rayleigh: No, no one's talking, who'd be calling out down here

Oden: I hear it too

Tsu: It's called the voice of all things. You can hear the Sea Kings, though they don't know why

Tsu: And other animals as well. Too bad you won't have time to practice pops, you'd love the Millennium Dragons…..or rather the Sky Kings as Mira used to call herself

Neptune: Ah Roger so you plan to be the one to do it then.

Roger: Do what, I'm not up to anything I swear.

Neptune: Nevermind then, just another prophecy. It says that soon someone will break through the gates to Fishman Island. And now you're all here.

Tsu: interesting as this is little sibling I've gotta leave

*Shaky footage of colorful coral buildings as she flies back to the entrance. An extremely large Sea King can be seen following her along the edge of the bubble.*

Tsu: See that big shadow following us. That's Scathe and he's getting SUPER restless about something. I think it's him or his friends Neptune needs to worry about.

Tsu: I'm starting to get restless just listening to them. Something big is coming, little sibling. Like major world changing stuff. I can feel it in the air, the pressure like before a major storm comes despite no weather being here.

Tsu: look baby sibling, they're circling, normally they're so docile but that pressure has them circling and restless with no channel for it. And there they go.

*Video shows one king taking a bite at the bubble as the guards swarm*

Tsu: There's a story I once heard ages ago, from the Sky Kings, they said that during times of change a mermaid is born to the royal line who can talk to sea kings. I wonder if this is that? It wouldn't surprise me really, given everything else we've seen.

Tsu: Let's get back to your dad. They don't want to talk right now. Well……they don't want to talk to me right now. Apparently they have…opinions on who Neptune should marry. I'm not sharing them.

Tsu: *muttered under her breath* busy body fish

Neptune: So you can actually read them

Oden: Yes, though it's just an apology from someone named Joyboy

Roger: Nothing on the Weapon that can control Sea Kings, the sky island said it'd be here

Neptune: Well there was a prophecy that said……

*Video cuts to Roger laughing at a very concerned Neptune*

Tsu: Sorry Baby sibling but I was right. However I can't risk the Marines hearing certain things. I know your Godfather will take good care of Lil Buddy but if they think he knows anything it'll be problematic.

Neptune: SHE WILL NOT BE HAIRY

Roger: WA HA HA HA HA

Tsu: I think we'll be leaving soon. Though one last look around won't hurt.

*Video pans out again as she takes to the air. Shadows of massive kings and whales circle on the ground until it blurs and shows their owners swimming along the edges of the bubble.*

Tsu: It's soooooooooo pretty down here sweetie. If it weren't for the fact I love the open sky I'd probably live down here. One of these days I'll tell you the old stories Mira used to tell me. About the living Sun and old promises. Maybe this Joyboy is like the person from her stories. Kings, she'd say, have long memories. Maybe the ones down here know them too.

Tsu: Gotta go, love you always

“Hmmm wonder what she's hiding little flame?” Newgate asks Ace, who was surprisingly quiet.

Tsu: Hey Neptune, What'd you think if Roger ever had a kid?

Neptune: I'd pray for that poor little brat. With a father like that, kids bound to go crazy trying to keep up with him. At least I think the man would be smart enough to leave him on an island until he grows up enough but there's still young ones on the crew even now.

Neptune: I'd still be Happy to meet them when they're older. See if the crazy dream chasing runs true or if that line would be blessed with some sanity. Then I'd wish them a happy future full of whatever they wish for themselves. And hope they had the strength to make it through.

Tsu: Don't worry Neptune, he will. He's got me n Shanks n Buggy n WhiteBeard to guide him. Possibly Garp too.

“Yup. Nope. I can't.” Marco whines, leaning heavily onto Ace. An Ace who was definitely crying and clinging to Thatch.

“Ah, this little wolf. Trying so hard and doing so much.” Newgate mutters as he reaches down to reassure his kids. “Probably enough for now Lil Buddy. Let's feed the poor kids and make sure they stay hydrated.”

The snail complies and is the only one to move. The captain holding the three closer in an attempt to reassure them. Determined it sets out to get someone's attention.

By the time dinner rolls around no one is hungry. The better part of the main crew and the Spade pirates are piled in the captain's quarters asleep. Newgate despite his age serving as a rather comfortable bed for the Spade group as they curl around their captain.

Lil Buddy is in his second favorite spot on the dresser. A pile of fresh greens beside him as he watches the crew letting out a soft content pururu noise. There's only a little more to show him, he's been such a good snail. Hopefully Ace agrees.

Chapter Text

It had been a good last few weeks. The jobs were easy, Teach was less antagonistic and the crew was inseparable. Some wanted to stay with Whitebeard and others still wanted to travel with Ace. Even better was that Tsukari had stopped by 

Ace who was opening up more about his life on Dawn Island. Who was happily sharing stories about his, Luffy's and occasionally Sabo's childhood.

“You're telling me Akagami accidentally let someone eat a Devil fruit?” Jozu asked stunned.

“Yup. Apparently Luffy was pissed he let one of the crew members go and just……ate it.” Ace answered, full on laughing. “Gods I thought Dadan was going to kill him when she found out. We all thought Tsu did after he got the idea to use himself as a rope now that he was stretchy.”

“You're leaving out the part where you both used Luffy as a jump rope on several occasions.” Tsukari pointed out. “I swear I almost stopped watching you after that.”

“Nah, if you didn't stop after the crab incident a little jump rope wouldn't do it.” He responds after diving in for a hug.

“Why would I leave after you guys went through all that trouble to catch dinner?” She teases, hand ruffling short black hair. “Seafood is my favorite after all.”

“There were over 300 tiny fiddler crabs inside the house.” He answers, face pained. “We counted.”

“Yes. And I wasn't the one who had to sleep in the house with them or explain it to Dadan.”

“300 fiddler crabs?” Masked Deuce mouths at Skull. The man just shrugs in response. Lil Buddy takes this moment to sneak over and steal a few bites of melon off his plate.

“There you are Lil Buddy. How's everything been?” She asks the little cameko as she picks him up. “Really now, that's good.”

“He's been an absolutely perfect snail.” Ace praises as he hands over a few pieces of berry. “Don't think I'd be as happy as I am without him.”

“That's good.” She looks around a second before smiling like a demon. “Oi, ankle biters gather up your crew.” She doesn't elaborate on why. Ace, long since used to this does as instructed.

“Alright. Who wants to see cute Ace baby photos.” She asks. There is the thundering of massive steps and hundreds of little ones as several Whitebeard pirates, including pops, join in.

Happily Tsukari reaches into her bag and drops a massive photo album onto the table. The first picture shown is of the entire Roger crew with Oden and his family included. The next few pages are snapshots of the year of traveling. Some taken from vantages that'd be impossible to achieve without wings.

Notably there's a section she chooses to skip over. Saying that'd be for later. Instead she skips straight to the baby photos. Specifically Ace and Luffy's.

“How do you have my baby photos?” Ace asks, looking at one that'd definitely been cropped.

“Because I'm one of three people who know who your momma was back then.” She answers, proudly pulling another smaller book out of her pocket. “In fact I was with her during the last few months of her pregnancy and took you to Garp. Your dad's last request actually.”

“You knew his mom as well?” Deuce asks.

“Yup. I actually preferred momma over Roger. Only tagged along on this trip cause someone needed to introduce baby sibling to the family.” She answers, flipping through the tiny book. “Usually I stayed with Pops or momma if I wasn't running around with the Sky Kings or hunting for my boys.”

“I'm gonna bite.” Skull says. “What's with the tiny book?”

“Glad you asked. Stopped by Dawn Island before here.” She tosses it over to Ace. “Harassed a certain lord and managed to make off with a bunch of baby Sabo pictures.”

“No way.” Ace shouts before flipping through just as intently. “How'd you convince them without actually saying anything.”

“Was escorting someone on a visit and happened to wander into their storage area. Maaaaaaybe I found a few interesting things in a dusty corner while I was snooping.” She answers. “It's not like I'd actually volunteer to escort a snooty Dragon on a tribute run because I heard they were stopping there. Or like I planned my heist ahead of time because poor Koala needed a reward for putting up with him. Not at all.”

“How is he doing?” Ace asks.

“Still undercover but a different mission.” She answers. “Was in Water 7 with 9 but got some 10 marching orders for him. Garp is still mad you turned down the Warlord spot but I saw it coming.”

“You would. After all, you knew our plan was for me, Sabo and Luffy to have a fleet together.” He responds.

“And you still will. After Luffy gets his reputation up that is.” She gives him a few pats before getting up and grabbing Lil Buddy and the scrapbook.

“C'mon. I gotta show you something important Ace.” She calls out. It earns her a few raised eyebrows but ignores them. The scrapbook is handed over to Newgate who takes it a little too excitedly.

“You want it with the others?” He asks. 

“Yup. Lil bro will find it when he needs it. Don't let the others poke through it though.” She warns. “Got some really important things in there I'd rather he see first, then decide on.”

Ace follows her down into the hold. It's been ages since he's felt the need to hide down here. Sure enough she leads him over to what used to be his and Lil Buddy's favorite corner of the ship.

“Something special you wanna show me?” He asks.

“Yup.” Granted I could've done it above but I'm a bit greedy” She answers and pulls him into a tight hug. Snail chooses this moment to start.

*Video shows a tired looking Tsu holding a cranky baby Ace*

Tsu: c'mon baby bro I miss momma too but Garp will be here any second now.

Ace: *cries harder*

Tsu: I know Ace, you don't like him but he grows on you I swear. Would it help if I sang the song.

Tsu: Gods you are so cute. Sorry I can't be there for you in the beginning. But Garp says he knows someone who can watch you. They are watching the remaining crew sooooooo closely now.

Tsu: If not I'd happily take you in. Dofi even has a place in mind to set up base for his crew. None of us however know how to care for a baby. And the Marines are watching. So you get to go with Garp and I'll follow you and watch over you. 

Tsu: Sure it means accepting their position in the new CP division but it also means I'll get to watch you grow up. And honestly that's wonderful.

Garp: *slightly muffled* Tsukari you here

Tsu: Gotta go Ace, Love You Always

*Video switches to an almost 20yr old Tsukari laying in a makeshift hammock in Dadan's house with a crib nearby*

Tsu: Really now Ace, being so fussy are we? I really need to teach her the song. It'd be soooooo much easier but I'm a greedy thief and love these stolen moments.

Ace: *whimpering*

Tsu: Teething is a bitch for all species ain't it. Don't worry it'll pass. Eventually. Gotta hurt like a mother though

Ace: *flails about and starts smacking at her*

Tsu: I can't sing cause it scared to ever loving fuck out of them last time. Buuuut 

Tsu: *puts Ace back in the bed and shifts into a small bird* maaaaaaybe I can do this. *trills to the tune of Bink's Sake*

Ace: *slowly falls asleep*

*Video shifts again to a small but mobile Ace running across the beach*

Tsu: YOU ARE THREE FUCKING YEARS OLD HOW DID YOU ESCAPE

Tsu: Dadan took her eyes off you for two God damned seconds Bro how the actual fuck are you on the beach? If I hadn't been illegally stalking your ass you'd probably be dead by now.

Tsu: Oi little pirate get yo butt out of those waves.

*Tiny Ace grows larger as she runs over and scoops him up*

Tsu: Honestly it's a good thing I can change my hair color cause your toddler years are gonna turn me gray. Bout ready to ask Garp to let me baby sit so you'll have a reason to recognize me later. Not keen on explaining my dubiously legal extracurriculars to him.

Ace: Can stay?

Tsu: Not today baby bro

Ace: no stay? *Eyes start to grow watery*

Tsu: we can play for a few minutes but then ya gotta go home

Ace: play?!?! *Wriggles free and starts digging*

Tsu: guess we're tunneling to North Blue today. *Also starts digging*

Ace: crab? *Holds up a shell*

Tsu: Close. That's a Clam.

Ace: Clab!

Tsu: aw fuck you're waaaay to cute you know that right

*Pulls sandy Ace into a tight hug*

“How long were you illegally stalking him.” Newgate asks as he joins them in the hold. Thatch and Marco close behind.

“Since he arrived there. Fussy baby wouldn't sleep unless you sang to him.” Tsukari answers.

“I was a baby you know.” Ace defends himself.

“And a cute one. And mine as far as I was concerned. So I just tagged along in the beginning and left once you settled.” She responds. The group readjusts until everyone is more or less piled on top of Pops.

*A much older Tsukari stands in the hideout kitchen. Several small white crabs can be seen skittering about the house.*

Tsu: what could I have possibly done to you three to merit 326 crabs in this house? Three hundred. Twenty. Six. Crabs. How did you even catch this many? How long did it take? I can't even be mad because I'm too busy trying to figure out how.

Luffy: There are crabs in all my clothes

Sabo: They stole my breakfast

Tsu: WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN!

Ace: We'd have 326 pets?

Tsu: please, next time just catch a frog or pelican

Luffy: *crazy grin* Hey Sabo…

Tsu: One. Singular. Pelican

Sabo: be honest, if we caught 326 pelicans you'd be impressed

Tsu: You catch 326 live pelicans and I'm sending you to boarding school in Marineford………actually you do that and I'm just giving you a uniform and a title

Ace: can we have matching uniforms for the birds

Tsu: ya know what sure. You can lead a crew of the finest bird fleet HQ has ever seen

Sabo: the baby Marine delivery service

Tsu: *face palms and mouths Sorry to the snail* that's seagulls

Sabo: no pelicans

Luffy: Seagulls *continues back n forth for a few minutes*

Tsu: it's like Buggy n Shanks all over again

Tsu: brothers of mine. Argued over North or South Blue being colder for days

All three: It's South Blue

Tsu: At least you agree. C'mon let's clean up your pets then I'll make more food.

Kids: Ok.

“Gods you did record the crab incident.” Ace mutters. Marco and Thatch were losing it over on the other leg.

“Oh I caught soooooo many of your childhood shenanigans.” She laughs, Ace still tucked into her side. “Kept me sane during certain jobs.”

“So this is where you guys went off to.” Masked Deuce comments as he steps into the hold. “We were still a little worried about you.”

*Another video plays. Ace, Luffy and Sabo can be seen standing on a cliff overlooking the ocean.*

Sabo: I want to see the world in all its Glory and write a book about what I find. If it's sailing I'm studying for then I don't care how hard I have to work. We've got to get stronger and become real pirates.

Ace: hehehe you don't need to tell me that

Ace: I'm gonna become a pirate and beat every last person who stands in my way and earn myself the kind of glory that dreams are made of, only then will my life have been worth living

Ace: I don't care if the whole world refuses to accept me, I'm gonna become a great pirate and prove I'm better than them all

Luffy: Shishishi Well then…

*Camera briefly pans to the ocean as muffled crying can be heard before panning back*

Sabo: isn't it gonna be a problem if all three of us want to be captains?

Ace: I can see that being an issue, Sabo I thought you were gonna be my navigator

Luffy: What, you guys should join my ship

Ace: *grinning sets a bottle on a tree stump* We'll decide on that when the time comes

Sabo: Who knows maybe we'll end up forming our own separate crews

Luffy: Did you steal some of Dadan's booze 

Ace: Did you know that if you exchange drinks you can become brothers 

Luffy: BROTHERS!! REALLY!!

Sabo: *visibly excited*

Ace: *pouring the drinks* When we become pirates we might not be on the same crew, but our bond of brotherhood we share will never die. 

Ace: No matter where we are or what we do, this is one bond we can never break

All three: *dinking the cups* STARTING TODAY WE ARE BROTHERS

*Cuts to three kids passed out by a tree stump next to a half empty bottle of home brewed something.*

Tsu: *decked out in basic marine gear with sapphire wings and goat horns* The actual fuck

Tsu: *inspects the bottle and cups as she starts chuckling*

Tsu: *looks over at the snail with fond exasperation* I told you to watch them but recording works too. Found out something interesting today. *Starts cleaning up after them*

Tsu: what did they get up to lil buddy *pokes at Luffy*

Luffy: *still asleep* Gonna be pirate brothers

Tsu: *looks at the bottle in her hand and laughs* Awwwww babies just formed their first fleet. Gotta be the tiniest one ever, still a bit better than 326 pelicans……or fiddler crabs.

Tsu: *looks at the kids again* let's get you home……and hydrated, I'm not sure you want to deal with your first hangover at what, 10 and 7.

The feed cuts off and Deuce is staring at Ace rather intently with a wide grin. Ace for his part is refusing to meet his gaze.

“Soooooo, you kept me because I seemed familiar huh?” The man tried to tease. “I know the dark haired one is Luffy, so that means the blonde is Sabo.”

“Yeah. He's my other brother, the one I don't really talk about. Or didn't.” Ace answers. “Thought he was dead for the longest time but he's not.”

“Ah so he did sneak off to record things.” Tsu says with a smile. “Probably for the best. I wasn't sure how to explain it.”

“Already saw the, ‘Sabo's parents would happily drag him back and you'd have to let them' part.” Ace explains. “Lil Buddy is kinda out of order but it's ok.”

“He shows what you need little bro.” Tsu explains with a soft smile. “I trust him to know what you need, when you need it.”

She wasn't wrong. Everything he's seen so far has helped. Including showing him Sabo was still there and was waiting for them.

Chapter Text

Tsukari didn't stay long unfortunately. She had work to do and things to set up. Luffy would soon be old enough to leave so she had to go attempt to stop his pirate dreams. No one actually believes she would. But appearances are necessary so she had to go give him a half hearted talk.

Most of the crew at this point had seen or heard some of the stories told by the old cameko. They'd noticed the changes in their newest crew members and their captain and were happy with it. Ace was still burning bright but was more of a happy campfire than an out of control forest fire. It was comforting, which is why they were so excited when he brought them in to share some of the videos, and why half the Whitebeard crew was mixed with the Spade crew watching Lil Buddy intently while they ate.

“C'mon. I know you have more to tell.” Kotatsu begs the snail while offering it food.

“It's ok Lil Buddy, they can see.” Ace answers it's little inquisitive wiggles.

*The video starts with Tsu standing on the edge of the ship, the sky is gray and large rocks protrude up from the sea.”

Tsu: Looks like you'll get to see Wano baby sibling. I wish it was under better circumstances but Toki has fallen ill. She had a long trip getting to us, even before Newgate and Oden found her, now that she's finally close to home it's catching up with her.

Tsu: Nekomamushi and Inuarashi have agreed to stay behind with her. Oden might as well so he's busy planning out a translation key. Though Toki swears she'd divorce him if he stays. He might not, so we'll have to finish quickly………or I might be getting some practice in for long distance flights.

*The sound of flowing water grows louder and the crew starts freaking out.*

Tsu: The waters around Wano are nuts, take a look.

*Camera pans to show a giant waterfall with large koi swimming up it with Roger and Oden talking*

Oden: Traditionally incoming ships would lasso the koi and get towed up the falls….

Roger: *yellow diamonds in his eyes* oh really now

Oden: That might not be the safest option. So for Toki's sake we'll take the supply Lyft, though it will be slower.

Roger: *mildly disappointed but understanding* That is probably for the best.

 The spade pirates look around and notice that most of the older Whitebeard crew looked concerned. There were rumors that Oden used to be a member. Perhaps they knew his wife as well.

*Video jumps to a beach where three samurai, a ninja and a kappa are greeting Oden*

???: It is so very good to see you again at last Lord Oden

???: You left Kuri in our hands when you departed 

???: but now all of Wano is ..

Toki: WAIT, I'm begging of you, if you truly care for Oden let him leave

Oden: *tears in his eyes* I will be leaving again for quite some time, take good care of my family

Oden: Tsukari if you could please

The retainers: Oden you Scoundrel

*The video shakes and bat like wings briefly come into view*

Tsu: We'll take the quicker sky route for now as it's faster. The cloud cover should keep me hidden well enough.

*Video jumps again, to much earlier in the day, Toki is holding the snail with her two kids asleep beside her. Behind her Wano's land passes by in blurs of green, brown and gray though a large tree could be seen in the heart of one of the villages.*

Toki: Tell your youngest brothers that I hope to meet them one day. Maybe by the time they head into the sea the borders will be open and they'll be free to come and go as they please.

Toki: Their father is an amazing man and I'm truly grateful for this opportunity to travel. I look forward to meeting them and maybe telling them a few stories about our adventures.

Toki: Please let White-kichi know that I do miss him and the crew and I hope one day we can reunite again. Though my journey may be over soon. There are a lot of things I haven't shared, but I'll make sure the others know about our wonderful sea family.

Tsu: Don't worry I will. Though it may be some time. The animals here are restless. Are you sure you don't need our help first?

Toki: This is our home. If we can't fix it ourselves we don't deserve it.

Tsu: These kids are sooooo lucky, growing up with such a strong momma like you. Can't wait to see who they become.

Toki: I think I might…

Tsu: I've got it, don't worry. There are gifts in the bag for you. And I'll start harassing Oden more so we can trade stories when we meet again.

“Ah sweet Toki. I do miss having little ones around.” Whitebeard mumbles. If his eyes are a little wet no one comments on it.

*Video jumps to the waters around Zou*

Roger: No wonder you need a vivre card to reach here 

Roger: It's not even an island 

Tsu: *whispering to the snail* That's Zuneisha, she's the guardian of Zou and one of the sacred Great Beasts, the Millennium Dragons are another kind as well as the island whales.

Tsu: Come on baby sibling we're going to go explore cause I shouldn't record some of this stuff. I'd offer to carry your dad up but he'll enjoy the climb more

*Video cuts to a view of a town over taken my the jungle*

Tsu: For the last time Buggy I don't know how the plants grow on her back. The water comes from her baths and nutrients from the fallen fruits n leaves but I'm not sure about the roots and neither is she

Buggy: But it'd probably be painful either way right, so carrying an island seems kind of mean as does putting people on it to live

Tsu: *muttered under her breath* Nika give me strength.

Tsu: Hey baby sibling your dad and uncle Oden are currently being swarmed by the local minks, turns out your cousin Momo's family has been friends with them for ages. Your dad isn't big on asking for answers so I'll tell you the story instead, or a heavily redacted version, at some point cause the Government really doesn't like to talk about to old days, like pre void century days.

Tsu: but supposedly back in the times before man could sail freely there was a promise made between the Sun and the people. He promised that despite their differences all people would be able to live freely together in, not quite harmony, but on equal ground

Tsu: This promise is represented best by Zuneisha who will help open Wano up to the world, who eternally wanders and carries the minks on her back for protection 

Tsu: and by the Ship Noah which will be pulled by the sea kings bringing the Fishman and mermaids to a paradise under the sun

Tsu: Not that your dad wants to know this. It'd be tooo easy. There are a lot of stories I Learnt from the Sky Kings and maybe one day,if you can hear them, I'll take you to their cloud roost so you can learn them too.

Tsu: If not I'll tell you myself. Along with the old stories of my kin. I've learnt a lot during this trip I wish I could share. But I can't safely do it now, so you get this instead.

*Video pans around and gives a panoramic view of the Mink city with the giant Whale tree in the center*

Tsu: your dad and uncle can only half hear her calls and it's making them twitchy. It's like they are being watched and are eager to leave. After here we'll have all four of the guide maps so things might be boring while we chart the course.

Tsu: Love you always baby sibling 

“The man could have satisfied his curiosity and ended his trip with one question.” Deuce snarls out. “If Tsukari would have just told him.”

“It's not that simple.” Ace laughs out. “She's told me, Luffy and Sabo some of the watered down Sun Tales, it's always about the journey. She could have told him true, but it means more if you work for it.”

*Video shows Roger looking a little more wane and pale. Tsukari is standing beside him as he laughs loudly.*

Tsu: Hey baby sibling, we made it. Most of the crew know about the Smiling Sun and how the world came to be. Buggy got sick a few weeks back so him and Shanks aren't here but will arrive when they need to.

Tsu: You dad is calling this island Laugh Tale now. Though all the Kings call it Paradise, I like this better. The ride here was a bit rough but I can't show you a whole lot. Just know that things are gonna change a lot now. Some for the better and some probably for the worst. I just hope the waves we've made don't cause problems for you later.

Tsu: We're getting ready to head out and sail back home. I can feel your dad planning something. It's gonna be big so I'll try to prepare as much as possible.

Rayleigh: C'mon guys we're heading back.

Tsu: We're taking Oden home now. Though I have a few things to drop off with Newgate after as part of the Plans, making waves is good and all but pointless if the resulting tsunami takes out the family as well.

Tsu: Love you always little sibling. And I'm so sorry.

“Ever the planner that one.” Newgate mutters. Ace can only watch as the last images of his lost family laugh together and pack up. Some of them like Shanks, Buggy and Rayleigh he's met at some point. Others he's never seen.

Chapter Text

Another few weeks of assorted missions and daily tasks pass in a blur. There is a vote amongst the Spade pirates to decide who will stay and who will follow. There is no animosity amongst the crew over this. Whitebeard is his family, just as the crew is his family. If they want to follow a more experienced captain that's fine.

It's as the days are counting down to his departure that Lil Buddy hunts the crew down again. It takes time and some aggressive eye wiggles but eventually they get the idea and gather on the main deck. Thatch is much better prepared as there is a variety of comfort foods and several blankets scattered across the deck under the clear sky. Once everyone is settled the cameko gets into place on top of Pop's head and starts.

*Video shows the old Roger crew gathered on the Oro Jackson. Several of them have tears in their eyes and Tsukari looks seconds from either crying or killing someone.*

Roger: Looking back on it all, it's been miraculous. See how far we came once I knew I was going to die. I have nothing but Gratitude to you all.

Crew: Whoa, Whoa What's with all the gushing feelings all of a sudden.

Crew: You're gonna make us blush

Crew: You can't do that to us Capn, you rascal

Roger: All Right, All Right, Here it is guys 

Crew: Lay it on us, we're ready

Roger: I'm Here by Disbanding the Roger Pirates

Crew: WHAT!?!?

Tsu: *whispered to the snail* Sorry about breaking up the family but every pirate and marine wanting to make a name for themselves is hunting the family. Hiding as a group is difficult but individually we can fade into the woodwork.

Tsu: Only your dad, Rayleigh and me know what the plan is. I'm not happy with it, you'll pay the biggest price but I'll try and lessen it some. Guess I'll be going into the CP program after all. At least we'll meet sooner that way.

*Video jumps again, It's Roger and Rayleigh standing by themselves*

Roger: I'm certain that voice was speaking the truth. Someone will be born and eventually surpass us. See we were just too early

Rayleigh: The one piece they call it….I wonder who will find it.

Roger: That'd be my kid of course

Rayleigh: You don't have one

Roger: But I will, just you wait

Tsu: *snickers* Your dad and uncle are ridiculous. Of course I'll have another little sibling. Momma wants a kid soooooooo badly, of course she'll get one.

Roger: ALRIGHT LADS TIME TO DRINK UP, We'll be the first off the ship. Make sure Oden gets home next.

Roger: I intend to meet with Whitebeard before I die. You want me to ask him to send Izo back to Wano?

The entire crew hisses. Ace can feel pops shake, with humor or worry he's not sure.

Oden: NO!!! He's become very comfortable on that ship. You tell him to take care of White-kichi for me.

Roger/Tsu: Will Do.

“They did pass on the message. I've tried my hardest to do so but you have made it difficult Captain.” Izo answers. “Not that you noticed given how upset you were when Lord Oden didn't return. Then fighting over..”

“I know. I know.” Pops mutters. The bitter note still in his tone over Oden's leaving.

*Video shows a furious Tsukari pacing back in forth in a familiar looking patch of woods*

Tsukari: Your father is a damned idiot that is driving me nuts. Yes I get his plan. Yes I know why he thinks it's a good idea. No I don't agree with it and no I don't have a better one. 

Tsukari: The waves he's about to make are gonna crack the foundation of this world. The effects are gonna be felt long after your grandkids are born little sibling. 

Tsukari: The worst part is…. I don't know if they're gonna have to rebuild from scratch or just start patching things up. The elders are a tricky group, even in the hazy golden mist of my childhood memories of Mary Geoise, they were not a group to be taken lightly or crossed without planning. 

Tsukari: Granted he won't be alive to deal with the fallout. I will be. And. Most importantly. YOU will be. Not sure if that's a good thing little Sibling. I don't think Sorry will be enough. All I can offer is a protective distance and lackluster excuses.

Tsukari: *sliding down to rest at the bottom of a tree, tears visibly falling from behind her hands* I'm so so so very sorry little sibling. I'm gonna try my hardest to build a strong foundation for you and yours. But I can't quite give you your full family yet. Not sure if I'll ever be able to. 

Tsukari: Gol-den blood seems to draw the ire of everyone who sees it. Between my Golden Sheepies and their golden fleece and your father and his God-like reputation I'm eternally guarding my family from the greedy, envious, power hungry world.

Tsukari: And I'll be damned if I lose another member to the burning flames of the world's cruel jealousy and irrational wrath. So I'm sorry baby sibling but I'm gonna be a bit distant for a while but we will meet again.

Tsukari: Even if I have to burn the Golden City itself down the foundation. It might just take a few years. But I will be back.

Tsukari: Love you Always Baby Sibling

“Gods she's so damn angry.” Deuce comments as the video goes black. “What does she mean by her Golden Sheepies?”

“You didn't get to see that one.” Ace answers. “It's not technically my story to tell, but, when she was younger she landed in Mary Geoise and ended up growing attached to a pair of soft baby Tenryuubito. Their father decided to play human and she followed them down the mountain and had to watch as they were hunted like rabbits because of what the others did.”

“Shit. Are they….did….it went bad didn't it?” He settles on saying, unsure if he wants the answer.

“They are alive. Uncle Rosi and uncle Dofi are around menacing the Marines from inside and outside the ranks.” He answers with a vicious smile. “Though the cost was heavy.”

*Video shows Roger excitedly greeting a woman with pale blonde hair. Tsu can be heard laughing as he almost topples her over*

Tsu: We're gonna give them some privacy in a minute, but first you've gotta see how happy your parents are together. Momma is the sweetest woman out there and your dad turns into the goofiest great Dane the moment she looks at him…..as you can see.

Tsu: There's gonna be a lot of rumors and speculation going on concerning your parents. A lot of it is going to be false, most of it made up for attention so I'll set one thing straight. Your dad only had two incredible loves in his life

Tsu: Adventure and Momma. You'd definitely be the third if he ever met you, but time is ticking and he's about to do something incredibly world changingly dumb. So it's just two.

Tsu: Don't get me wrong, he loves his crew and Shanks and Buggy are his kids in spirit, but if he had to choose between Momma and them he'd choose momma. Which is why what he's about to do is sooooo fucking dumb even if he sees it as necessary. And Momma agreed so it's happening.

*Video jumps again to the two of them laying on a beach arguing over baby names.*

Tsu: Good, it's safe. There are not enough therapists in the whole world to deal with the consequences of arriving too early.

Tsu: I don't want to break them up but there are marine ships about a day away and he's gotta go poke at Garp now and have that talk with Newgate. 

Tsu: But first, embarrassing parental PDA, look snuggles. *Pans to what would be a cute example of a typical couple if it weren't for the obvious pile of clothes next to the blanket they were wrapped in.*

Tsu: Y'all better be dressed cause there are government ships about 14 hours out. 

*Muffled cursing and the sound of panicked scrambling*

Tsu: It's been two weeks. If you aren't growing yet there's nothing else I can do. I've spent weeks island hopping in the area trying to lead them on a goose chase but Garp has some keen instincts where your dad is concerned. It's a bit impressive really except momma wants a kid and they are disrupting that.

Tsu: Love you always Little Sibling 

“I'm not sure how to feel about this.” Ace mutters looking a little green.

“That's a damn mood.” He hears Juzo huff out. A few of the others second him. 

They all watch as a half dressed, barefoot Roger goes running down the beach towards a smaller ship as Tsu circles overhead. The hissing wind is unable to completely drown out her laughter.

*Footage of Roger, Garp and Whitebeard arguing over custody rights for his soon to be born son, camera pans to Tsukari*

Tsu: remember little sibling, regardless of what the world tells you, you are loved. These are three of the world's most powerful men arguing over who gets to change your diapers. Please never doubt that

*Camera is set down on a branch close to the three men*

Roger: Garp gets the baby, Marine protection is invaluable in those early days so no visitors 

Garp: finally some sense

Tsu: after 8yrs me or Shanks, if he's a pirate can visit. I promise there will be no swaying the kid in either direction 

Garp: like hell

Roger: *laughing* You'd trust him with a kid?

Tsu: Fair point, 

Roger: depending on what the kid decides it'll go this way

Marine - Rosinante gets to train him

Garp: fine, wouldn't really trust anyone else except maybe Kuzan.

Garp: pirate - Whitebeard gets him

WhiteBeard: *looking smug as fuck* As if I'd let him, and you're sure it's a him, run around by himself.

Tsu: if he decides instead to be a merchant or civilian of any kind he gets to live under Donquixote protection with Mingo

*All three men start yelling*

Tsu: it'd be seventeen to twenty years we'll have established ourselves by then

All three: Fine

*Smug smile towards the camera as she walks over, men still bickering*

Garp: We really gonna let that ankle biter tell us how this works

Whitebeard: It's a sound plan but there is no way you, father of Dragon, get to…..

Garp: You wanna have a go old man

Roger: *around fits of laughter* If you wanna go against it be my guest, but remember she can fly to the sky islands with a grown adult on her back, a baby is much smaller

Garp/WhiteBeard: FUCK

Tsu: hey don't worry little sibling we'll meet regardless. You have the ocean in your blood and wind in your lungs there's no way you won't sail.

Chapter Text

It's the final night before the remaining Spade pirates head out to meet up with Sabo. Tsukari has joined them again with a small army of hand written journals and photo albums she'd brought up from the depths of the Moby Dick's store room. Newgate is giving them odd looks as he flips through them, eyes a little watery.

“You could have mentioned these sooner.” He hears the captain hiss at her. “Would have done a lot of good in the beginning.

“Trust me pops, we both know how……unstable little bro was, even with my babysitting skills.” She answers. “He probably would have torched them without a second glance until he saw how much he meant to us. Besides, momma asked me to wait till he was older. And I could never say no to momma.”

“Fair enough.” The captain laughs sadly. “How she managed to tame both you and Roger I'll never know.”

“Roger, I have no clue.” Tsukari chuckles weakly. “As for me, she reminded me far too much of Materia for my own good.”

“Ah, that'd do it.” He says as he gives her a gentle bop on the head.

“Come. Let's show Ace the few bits of footage I have of momma then we'll cuddle pile on the deck. It should be clear skies tonight.” She walks off towards the crew. Newgate watches with a concerned look in his eyes but follows.

Once the crew is gathered and the books sat on a nearby snail everyone gets into position.

*Video of Tsu standing next to a rather round pale blonde woman*

Rouge: Hey Little pup, I've been working on some things while you were away

Tsu: Didn't mean to be gone so long. It was amazing. I'll show you some of it later.

Rouge: That'd be wonderful. I've made a few scrapbooks and journals for the little one. Wanted to document the pregnancy like some of the other ladies are doing.

Tsu: Together?

Rouge: *laughing as she ruffles Tsukari's hair* of course silly pup.

“I still miss her so much you know.” Tsu whispers against his back. “Don't know how I pulled it together after everything. It's a bit fuzzy.”

“That's ok.” He answers, curling closer. “It's more than I ever thought I'd get.”

*Video jumps to the same woman but clearly showing signs of an early pregnancy*

Rouge: *a fond smile on her face* You are putting a lot of thought into the baby's bed.

Tsu: I know it's not a ship but I'm still worried. Little Momo and baby Hiyori kept rolling out of theirs and I refuse to let that happen to Ace.

Rouge: You really did hound Lady Toki for advice didn't you.

Tsu: No, I just kept helping babysit the little ones. Ace is going to have a lot of cousins when they are born.

Rouge: Ace, really?

Tsu: *with a toothy grin* Roger swears it's gonna be a boy, so Ace. If it's a sister then we'll think of another

Rouge: *laughs loudly* Ace is fine either way, Pup.

Tsu: *mutters* Maybe as a middle name for a girl. 

“Ok what would you have called a little sister?” He asks her.

“I think there is actually footage of the crew arguing about that.” She answers with a sad grin. “Esmeralda or Amelia was in the top picks I think. Your dad was really insistent on you being a boy though.”

*Switches again, this time to a rather nicely decorated nursery. One wall is set up to look like a forest with another resembling the open ocean visible through the window*

Tsu: Welcome to the world baby Ace. It took hours but you're finally here. Birthing took a lot out of Momma but the doctor says it's normal.

Tsu: This is going to be your room for a few months. After that Sir Garp is coming to take you and possibly momma to your new home. I'll be signing up and officially regaining my old CP title though it's a bit different.

Tsu: You guys are sleeping right now so I'll be quiet but it's too cute not to get.

*Steady footage of a white hallway leading to a room with it's door half open. Two figures are curled up on the bed asleep.”

Tsu: you're soooooooo tiny right now. Your dad could've carried you in one hand if he was here. Which in few a few…… we're gonna be taking a detour to LogueTown next week for reasons you'll already know by now. I'll be with momma during but……well things might not…it's rough buddy, living in these changing times. 

Tsu: But don't worry we'll make it through. Can't wait till you're older Ace. To see the man you'll become.

“Ah it's about that time isn't it?” Whitebeard asks.

“A few months off actually.” Tsu answers. “It had just been announced though Roger had been with Garp two-ish months at that point.”

*Shows are very tired looking woman*

Tsu: hey sing that song will you, the one you used to sing to us

Portgas Rouge: *a soft sad smile on her face*

Rouge: I can't believe I managed to get her to leave. 

Roger: Wahahaha I can't believe my last visit is to show Garp where to go

Rouge: Tsu is a rather protective child, the Sea Dragon is a fitting name for her

Roger: Take good care of your big sister Ace. She's been through a lot and I'm not sure how this will change her

Rouge: Still worried she's gonna stash him.in a golden tower on a sky island?

Roger: I wouldn't put it past her at this point. I have no right to ask anything of you, but please be patient. Like you she's going to have to face the waves I make with no idea how it will settle.

Rouge: Look, I finished it yesterday. *Holds up the golden whale with a stash* It's you.

Together: *laughing* Sorry for the trouble. Love you both always

He can feel her shaking and the wet drops of tears where she's pressed against his back. He's grateful for the firm, almost bone breaking, hug she's pulled him into. He can't hear her but that means nothing where she's concerned.

*Shows Tsukari harassing some poor ensign as they pack up all the stuff from the nursery. She's holding a hand knit blanket with little golden whales on it as tears openly flow down her face. There are no wings just a blue/white cadet uniform with wolfish ears and tail*

Garp: My poor men are going through a lot under her grief filled rage right now. Granted that one deserves the tongue lashing he's getting.

Garp: I want it to be known, even if it's just between me and Tsukari, that me and Sengoku did try to talk him out of it. Granted it would've been prison instead but your father………well let's just say he'd rather choose his way out and we respected that.

Garp: There are gonna be a lot of bitter men who tried and failed at what that man achieved and some poor faceless kid is gonna take the brunt of that hatred. As far as the world is concerned, you don't exist. As far as the Marines aside from me, Sengoku and Kong are concerned, You're Dragon's kid and my grandkid. How Tsu convinced him to play along I'll never know.

Tsu: Oh you are so..

Garp: Gotta go brat, your sister is about to kill someone and I have no clue why.

*Snail focuses on a torn Island Whale plush in gold with an iconic stache.*

Tsu: Momma practiced hard to knit that thing but baby brother……and…I…I prom….I promised her…

Garp: C'mon Tsu. Go cuddle with your brother. I'll take care of this.

Garp: Nothing is going according to this plan kiddo. Granted your siblings are basically a bunch of teenagers who just lost their parental figures so that pans.

Garp: *moving inside to show Tsu curled protectively around a sleeping baby. The Marines moving cautiously about.* She doesn't handle loss well but she loves you kid. With every fiber of her being. The lot of them do, even if they haven't met you.

Garp: Do with that what you will.

“Ok, fuck. No more right now.” Deuce calls out as he pokes at the pile of sobbing siblings. Tsu waves him off and Lil Buddy keeps going.

*Video of Ace, Luffy and Sabo running across the beach.*

Luffy: I'm gonna be the next Pirate King.

Tsu: I swear he reminds me so much of your dad it hurts sometimes. It's like he was so excited to meet you he immediately reincarnated into this little ankle biter. 

Tsu: It probably won't make sense to you but their souls burn almost the same way. Even the kings that followed Roger in that last year feel it.

Tsu: The kings said ten to be born and fifteen to grow. Luffy is technically in that range. 

Tsu: Hawooo hoo hoo You guys are gonna burn this world down aren't you? Gonna give Garp the biggest headache known to man.

Tsu: can't wait to see the world you'll build up and the family you'll find. Who knows, maybe you'll fix what we can't.

Tsu: HEY BOYS, I ever tell you the story of the Sun's Promise

Boys: Another Sun fable!?!

Tsu: Once upon a time…

“You really think so?” Ace asks, voice tear rough.

“He did want to see how this journey went.” She answers, voice just as rough. “According to the Kings the Sun is reborn into those carrying the will if D. Each person has a chance to draw up on it. Luffy just burns a little bright and hotter than some of the others.”

“Then again,” she laughs, “Shanks did accidentally give him the Gomu' Gomu' no mi. Better known in the stories as the Sun Fruit.”

“HE DID WHAT!” Ace freaks out. He's heard the sun tales before and knows what that means. “No wonder you were mad at him.” 

Chapter Text

Tsu calls it after the last video. Most of the crew joins them as they sleep on the upper deck. A giant pile of pillows and blankets had been gathered and each took their spot. 

Tsu opted for first watch and a spot by her brother. Granted she only had to mildly fight his crew for it. Apparently the kid was a space heater and Kotatsu rather loved staying by him.

There was technically more to show but she wasn't sure if it was needed. Ace was much softer these days. Less a raging forest fire and more a gentle hearth flame, comfortable and soothing in its intensity.

“Whas got you thnkn so hrd?” He mumbles sleepily. 

“I have one more thing to show you but I'm not sure it's wise.” She answers honestly. “I did go visit your dad while Garp had him and….well you'll see.”

“One more night won't hurt right?” Ace asks, a little more awake.

“No it shouldn't. They are technically coming to meet us.” Tsu answers with a soft smile. “I was gonna fly you out but everyone in the ship is friendly with zero reason to cause trouble.”

“Good, now slp” he yawns and rolls over, instantly back asleep.

Tsu doesn't for quite some time. Instead she watches the sky and listens to the sea. A breeze blowing off a summer island miles away scents the air with honeysuckle and hibiscus. The volcano forming below dyes the water a lighter shade of blue with its heat. The hunting kings add an almost coppery taste to the air as the sounds of the winds in the sails and waves on the bow form a lullaby only a ship can sing.

Dawn comes far too early for her liking. With it a change in breeze, this one from a colder almost winter island. The smell of pine carries hints of smokey ash and a metallic tang. The Apalala was closer than she thought.

The crew gathers for breakfast and everyone settles in to watch the last of the shareable recordings. Some are happy to see familiar faces and others upset from remembering friends that they hadn't seen in years.

*Video shows Buggy beside shanks with the rest of the crew in the background*

Buggy: Hey Little sibling we are just about to let Tsu and your dad go.

Shanks: But they crew had something they wanted to say first

*Video jumps to fuzzy footage of the Logue town streets. The shadow passing below implies she's in bird form.*

Tsu: Hey sibling we're going to say by to your dad real quick. They've set the date and I need to make sure I'm with momma when it happens.

Tsu: I know he probably has things to tell you. I'm not sure this will even help you but we are trying. It's probably not enough, but we are.

*Video jumps to a surprisingly unattended Roger still decked out in his recognizable gear.*

Garp: I don't know why you are having me do this.

Roger: C'mon Garp l, it's for the kid. He won't have much else of me

Sengoku: I can only hope. Heavens help me if Kong is serious and the kid inherits your personality

Roger: You just don't want to deal with the paperwork

Garp: *laughing* Of course not, no one wants to.

Roger: C'mon Garp, For old times sake

Garp: *muttering* Fine, fine

Garp: Hey Roger what would you say if you had a kid?” 

Roger: I'd tell him I'm sorry about everything that's about to happen. Apologize for every consequence he will face for my actions. Apologize for leaving shoes far too big for any child to fill and both be expected to fill them and hide them away. 

Roger: Then I'd tell him all about the friends I had and help that came. I'd introduce him to my greatest and closest friend and rival. And then I'd tell them that as long as he doesn't end up an abuser or slaver I'd be so God damned proud of them. And if they did, it's my fault for not being there.

Roger: I know a lot of the choices I've made lately seem odd, but I'm a man with a time limit that's quickly nearing and I want to have some effects on this world.

Roger: I lived my life without regrets until now. Now my only regret is that we'll never meet in person, get to be YOUR, father except in name only. I'll never hold you or sing terrible lullabies or walk you through your first crush, but, it's ok because I know I'm leaving you with a family that will do anything for you.

Roger: I'll apologize for any backlash or consequences you'll face because of me but don't be afraid to rely on those close to you

Sengoku: Darn It

Roger: *smiling wide* Now I've got two months to find a way to get Garp a grandkid. You're gonna need siblings after all.

Garp: God Fucking Damn it

*Video jumps again to a nursery in one of the bedrooms in Dadan's hideout. A large winged wolf is curled around a small dark haired kid.*

Dadan: Girl thinks she's being so sneaky right now. Sorry but this time it failed. There's blood all over by living room and shower and half the medical supplies are gone.

Dadan: Garp won't elaborate on what she's doing but it's taking a toll. Don't know how you know each other kid but she's one hell of a guard dog.

*Sounds of a concerned snail Purururuing.*

Dadan: Don't worry, Garp warned me about big sister. I'll keep an eye on her

Dadan: Ridiculous man only told me I was getting one kid. I've got two of you now. Granted I'm only actively taking care of one.

*Jumps again to a young Tsukari standing on the bow of a marine ship. There's a small kid, roughly 3yrs old, that she's carrying.*

Tsu: Hey Ace, sorry it's been awhile but Mr. Spamham has been keeping me busy.

Tsu: I want you to meet your new younger brother. This is Luffy, like you his dad is a bit of a sore subject with the boys in white n blue, unlike you he's an absolute menace that needs constant supervision.

Luffy: Go swim?

Tsu: *clearly amused* Not in the open ocean ankle biter

Luffy: Why?

Tsu: Is deep and strong, you'd be like that coconut

*Shows a coconut being tossed into the air by giant waves*

Luffy: Is fun?

Tsu: Could hurt you

Luffy: *pouting* no want hurt

Tsu: exactly, buuuuuuuut if you behave I'll sneak us into the Admirals area and you can play in the big tub

Luffy: Yeeeees, pool time

Tsu: Kay then, food first then tub. *Picks Luffy up by his ankles and slings him over her shoulder so he's hanging upside down*

*Video goes blurry as she picks up the camera before settling on an interesting view of Luffy from her head*

Luffy: Big Bro Ace, Hi

Luffy: Gon meet soon and be friends 

Tsu: That's the plan ankle biter, though in a few more years, one two ish. You'll be five and him eight.

Luffy: Yaaaaaay friend

Tsu: Gotta go little brother, baby sibling needs a bath

Luffy: Not a baby

Tsu: Love you always

Luffy: Wuv You

“Fuck. Nope. Now I feel bad.” Ace grumbles into a pillow. “He followed me everywhere for three months while I was being mean.”

“You were eight years old and suddenly got a roommate.” Tsu laughs out.

“Most older kids get a little huffy when a new one appears.” One of the Whitebeard members calls out. “I asked my parents if they could return my sister after the first month of endless crying.”

“Now you are the first to drag new crew members over.” Thatch laughs.

“I swear, the fact that y'all have four generations calling Newgate pops is still hilarious to me.” Tsu starts laughing. “Dude is almost eighty. I'm waiting for the day one of the new ones calls him Granpops instead…..or one of the commanders pops or ma.”

Everyone starts sharing panicked looks as Newgate's iconic laugh shakes the ship. A few of the Spade pirates get a determined look in their eyes. Good, someone is going to have to take over soon. 

Sabo arrives just after lunch on the Apalala, a rather steampunk looking dragon themed ship. The reunion between the brothers is as sweet as it is violent. Sabo showing off just how important Haki is when it comes to logias. As well as his Rokushiki skills. Something Tsu only half heartedly reminds him is a CP secret.

“Thanks for everything Pops.” Ace calls out the the ship. “Gonna finally accept that title they keep throwing at me.”

“Warlord Fire fist has a nice ring to it.” Sabo teases.

“It really does.” He laughs.
