Work Text:
Katsuki could deem himself the luckiest man in the world, truly. He was 27 and getting married to the love of his life, the only man who’s seen him for more than what he leads on with. Izuku has seen the good, the bad, the foulest in what happens to those who cross him. And yet he still finds the man with mossy green curls right by his side, still looking at him with the same love and admiration he did when they met as children.
It was adorable, the shine in his eyes when Katsuki would do something remotely impressive, their athletic capability differentiating greatly when they were children. Though that had changed, and Izuku had lost a lot of his baby as he grew up, such as others do. Though he did still have a bit of roundness to his face. Katsuki believed he got that from his mother, having met the woman and noticed how she had a round face.
But Izuku had gained clear muscle, and by no means was he some puny 13 year-old that could barely run two miles, his once scrawny figure long gone thanks to dedication and hard work on keeping himself healthy. He was bullied often for how skinny he was and how much of a nerd he could be, and sure, he had by no means dropped the nerding habits, but he wasn’t tiny anymore. He could defend himself, and Katsuki found himself even more drawn to his soon-to-be husband.
Their wedding was planned out beautifully by the two of them–it was private, and very select few would come. Close friends, and close family members. No children, due to the fact weapons will be in the wedding, specifically for gun shows along with the line of objection. Anybody who thought to step in just as Katsuki was about to marry the love of his life shouldn’t get to live their own. No matter how good or bad they are, Katsuki would shoot them point blank no matter what if they try to object to the wedding.
The dress code was all black, and the only man wearing white would be Izuku. HIs beautiful fucking groom that he’d do anything for. Even the darkest, cruelest of things, if Izuku asked he would without an ounce of hesitation.
He’s a powerful man and has risen to the top within the dark shadows of his job. Thousands feared him and were well aware of who he was, though they knew nothing of his personal life. Just that he was a man to be feared, someone who they should wisely keep out for and not get on the bad side of. And that had only driven Katsuki to get himself farther up until he had everything he fucking wanted. Then Izuku waltzed into his life again, and now Izuku is his everything. The thought without him makes him feel sick if he’s being honest. But now, he’s got the gorgeous man for life. Fuck, he really couldn’t be happier.
Getting ready for the wedding was quite stressful in all honesty. He was just nervous ( THE Katsuki Bakugou, nervous? No one’s ever heard of that,) about it in the grand scheme of things. Everything was planned out perfectly, but still, he’s marrying the love of his life today and wants absolutely nothing to go wrong. He ends up calling Izuku for reassurance since he’s not able to see him just yet until the proper ceremony commences, and he’s reassured by his loving fiancée that everything will go great. But they both have to go, the final touches of their outfits being added. Katsuki wore simply a classic black suit, but instead of a white undershirt it was a deep red, complimenting his eyes and bringing them out. He didn’t wear a tie, finding it too stuffy. Izuku knew the man he was marrying, so he hoped he didn’t mind it. Whatever, he’s sure Izuku wouldn’t mind his soon-to-be husband without a tie on, nevertheless even notice the small detail.
For once, he didn’t have a single weapon on him, nor any rings on his fingers. Just the one in which Izuku would place on his fingers himself, a simple black titanium band. Izuku’s had a beautiful gemstone. It was ruby, but specifically a pigeon’s blood ruby, a splash of blue in the beautiful gem that would lie on his ring finger. It was also Izuku’s birthstone, and they also had promise rings Katsuki bought for the both of them a couple years back. They decided to also base it off birthstones, though Izuku wore Katsuki’s and vice versa.
Katsuki swallows rather thickly and gives a deep breath to soothe his nerves, moving to grab the boutonniere in which would be placed on the left lapel of his suit jacket, accentuating Izuku’s bouquet. The wedding ceremony was in the evening, so a splash of colors paints the sky in beautiful colors and hues of purples, pinks, oranges, reds, yellows, and so on. It was a beautiful end to a beautiful day for the soon-to-be wedded couple, and Katsuki couldn’t wish for anything better if he’s being wholly and truly honest. He’s just so in love and God time feels like it’s gone by far too long since he’s seen Izuku. He just wanted to see him again, longing for the touch of his freckled skin against his own, remembering every dip and curve on his beautiful body and the way his eyes light up when he sees him, all the more wanting of Izuku.
Just Izuku, his stupid hair and the smattering of freckles painted on his face similar to constellations you’d see on a clear, starry night in Japan. It was beautiful, especially away from the city as the blanket of carbon emission and smoke from operating buildings is torn away, leaving the raw beauty the Earth has to offer, a rare, beautiful sighting.
Katsuki hears the groomsmen beckon him out, a smile on their faces. Quite happy for their friend, who would’ve laughed at the thought of marrying someone just when he was 22. A year before he met Izuku again, and then another year until they were officially together. Katsuki remembers how in denial he was of crushing on Izuku, especially since he hadn’t wanted to ruin the friendship they rebuilt. Even as the scary mafia boss he was, that spark of love was reignited when he saw those mossy green curls again, and those eyes that he could fall in love with over and over again. No matter what he did or said, Katsuki would always love him. He could kill hundreds, thousands even just as Katsuki did, and he’d obey the man like a dog. Really, he was obsessed with the mere thought of Izuku.
He stands, pinning the boutonniere on the left lapel of his suit jacket, the colors of a beautiful orange standing out against his dark outfit, but it was perfect. He smiled at the thought of just how perfect this evening would go, a faint blush on his cheeks at the thought of his beloved Izuku.
He’s guided out by Kirishima Eijirou, Kaminari Denki, Sero Hanta, and Shinsou Hitoshi. All very good friends of Katsuki’s, and his best man was Eijirou. Shitty hair for better words. Izuku’s grooms(wo)men, consisted of Uraraka Ochako, Himiko Toga, Todoroki Shoto, and Iida Tenya. Highschool friends who were aware of how dangerous Katsuki was, though they knew their friend was happy. So as long as Katsuki didn’t threaten to bash their skulls in, it was all good. Izuku’s best (wo)man was Ochako, and she had been ecstatic as she heard of the news, a smile proudly standing on her round features. Her eyes shone with so much happiness that Katsuki got a damn headache looking at her, as if he doesn’t look at Izuku the same way and vice versa.
Guests sit in their seats, being close relatives and friends, all who were aware of Katsuki’s line of work. That was also where the gun show and dress code came from, seeing as everyone obliged to such. Katsuki stands at the altar, such as he’s gone through the rehearsal of what feels like a million time by now, and it feels so much more surreal now that it was the real thing. The music plays, and Katsuki feels his head spin with a dopamine rush. God, he could cry.
The first couple of people walk down the aisle, and they separate to stand next to where Izuku will be, along with Katsuki. The lights dim, and Katsuki feels his heart in his throat. The shadow his curls, the glint in his eyes along with a beautiful bouquet in his scarred hands as everyone rises from their seats. Katsuki felt his heart race, tears stinging and pricking in the corner of his eyes. A smile was plastered on his face, feeling nothing but what felt to be an adrenaline rush, his fingers twitching as he interlocks them in front of him, watching as Izuku walks down the aisle with everyone’s eyes on him. How could they not look at him?
He wore a white suit, his tie tied properly as well as his hair decently tamed. Not his usual bedhead, and that could’ve made Katsuki laugh to himself. But he stayed quiet, in turn watching the beauty of the ceremony pan out just as they’d hoped it would. Each step has Katsuki’s heart racing faster and faster, until Izuku was finally in front of him, so badly wanting to hug or kiss him. God, he’s just so beyond excited to see Izuku that he can’t fathom the thought of staying damn still, but he had to. He swallows thickly and plants his feet firmly on the ground, telling himself over and over not to make any sudden moves as the officiant gives a soft smile at the both of them.
“Welcome everyone! Please be seated, and silence your cell phones. My name is Masaru Bakugou, and I have had the pleasure of officiating this wedding.”
Yeah, they chose Katsuki’s father to officiate the wedding. He was fit for the job, and Izuku was dead set on it once mentioned. The smile on Izuku’s face at the words only made Katsuki’s grow larger, until he was flashing his teeth. His fingers delicately move in a soft, silent tapping motion to calm his nerves, and Izuku seems to see it as his eyes dart to the movement. Izuku was always good at picking up even the tiniest of movements from Katsuki, and it honestly made him happy. In a subtle way, it showed Izuku paid attention to even the smallest details. And that made him feel loved if anything.
“To start, thank you Izuku and Katsuki for this amazing wedding in which you’ve planned. The venue was perfect and we’re all excited to see you both grow along with our own families.”
Masaru pauses to take a breath, a smile on his face as he adjusts his glasses.
“I’m convinced that the foundations for a happy, genuine marriage, form way before the marriage actually happens. Let alone is brought into the picture. I’ve had the honor of watching Katsuki and Izuku grow as both young men and as well as watching what used to be a friendship sprout into the beauty in which you two are now. They’ve built foundations together, hand in hand, for the life that they have no. They’ve built a strong trust and a very strong bond with one another, they survive even the worst in their relationships, and here they stand now, groom and groom at this altar. I have no doubt that this will be a beautiful marriage for the both of you.”
“So, if you’re ready, I’m gonna ask a couple of questions so you both can attest your commitment to this marriage.”
Katsuki gave a smile at his father’s speech, and everything was unfolding so right . He couldn’t feel more in love, his heart bubbling and jumping in his chest as he hears his ears ring, his eyes stinging with tears as they end up rolling down his cheeks. All happy tears of course.
“Do you both choose each other to be partners for life?”
Katsuki looks from Masaru to Izuku, a smile on his face. They speak in unison with one another.
“We do.”
“Do you choose to trust and respect one another, and support each other in good times and in bad times?”
“We do.”
“Do you love what you know about each other today and trust what you do not yet know?”
“We do.”
Masaru gives a smile to his son and his son-in-law, one full of fondness and love.
“Awesome. Now, Izuku and Katsuki are going to share some personal vows they’ve written to one another.”
Katsuki swallows thickly now that it was his turn to say his vows to Izuku.
“If you told me that I would be getting married to Izuku Midoriya when I was a stupid teen, I would’ve laughed in your face. Izuku and I always had differences when we were children, and now, I can’t fathom the thought of even being away from him for five seconds.” Katsuki hears a sweet giggle from Izuku, and it makes his heart swell in his chest as he continues with his vows.
“The stupid nerd has made himself so damn important to me that knowing what I did to him makes me feel worse than ever, because how can someone like him love someone like me, especially when Izuku has such a perfect damn heart that it hurts to know I tried to hurt him just because I took his admiration for pity like some kind of idiot. In which I was, given I was a stupid kid that didn’t know how to differentiate kindness and pettiness, because I was a damn brat and thought I didn’t need help. Izuku hasa done so fucking much for me, and helped me even though I rejected it so much. Even if I pushed him away, he’d come back without a second thought of what I might’ve done to hurt him. I don’t know why he did it, but I’m happy he did. But I’m also not, but that’s what has led us to this moment here now. And as I stand before you, Izuku, I don’t want to do anything for the rest of my life but show you the love you damn deserve . And I hope you’ll let me for the rest of yours, too.”
Izuku’s eyes seem to water, and when he looked a little closer, he was about to cry. His face softens at the sight of it, his head tilting ever so slightly as he gently takes Izuku’s hand into his own. His thumb brushes against the scarred skin, his eyes darting back up to Izuku’s face as he takes an inhale before speaking.
“When I was a kid, I looked up to Kacchan as if he was a hero, and I wanted to be just like him, or at least be friends with him. And the day I was turned away, I was so.. Confused. I know now that what happened back then was just him being a stubborn kid, such as all kids are at some point in their lives, but I was unaware of the behavior and naturally thought I had done something wrong. I spent years and years looking up to him, still admiring from a distance and trying to at least minimize our contact with one another. When we split apart for high school, I felt so.. lost . Really, I felt like I had lost a part of me I didn’t know I really needed. And meeting him again, both as adults who have at least sorted out some issues, was awkward at first. Addressing our past was difficult, and I’m so happy we got past that because now we stand here, at this altar in a beautiful venue I wouldn’t have even thought of choosing if Kacchan hadn’t recommended it.” He gave a smile to Katsuki, his green eyes shining brightly as the setting sun made beautiful lighting for the scene.
“But even now, as we stand here together, I know as a wedded couple we will face hardships, because that’s what we do. We have problems, we fight, we hash it out. But in the end, we both know we have a love so deep for one another that nothing can take it away. And I know that no matter what we say or do, that we’ll never lose our love. I’ll love you for the rest of my life, no matter what harm or damage you may cause. You’ll always be perfect to me Kacchan, and nothing can or will ever change that.”
Masaru gives a soft smile, his face relaxed as he looks at the couple. Eijirou, who held the rings, hands them to both Katsuki and Izuku as the brunette begins to speak once again.
“These rings are a symbol of life long commitment. They seal the vows you have just taken to love each other for the rest of your lives.”
Katsuki gently takes Izuku’s hand in his own, placing the ring on his left hand. It fit perfectly, Izuku doing the same as a rush of happiness runs through Katsuki’s whole body, a dopamine rush present in his brain.
“By the power vested in me, and by the strength of your own love, I now pronounce you married! You may kiss each other!”
Katsuki gave a full, bright smile as he takes Izuku by his waist, and the younger man laughed as they finally kissed after what felt like hours. The small crowd erupted into a cheer, Katsuki’s hand on the small of Izuku’s back as he pulled him impossibly close, wanting nothing but to have Izuku all damn over.
It only gets better from here, doesn’t it?
All they can do is wait for it.
