Sasuke nervously walked up the steps to Naruto’s house. He had met his parents before, but not since they had begun dating four months ago.
He just hoped that he made a good impression and that everything would go well. If all else failed, he had Tenten on standby to call him and fake an emergency so he could leave early, but he hoped that plan B wouldn’t have to come into play.
“Just text me and let me know, I’ll make sure to sound extra dramatic incase you want to put me on speaker too!” The bubbly girl told him with a smile. “Things will go great, though!” She reassured him.
So, when Sasuke got to the top step of the porch and slowly reached out to knock, he should have done so confidently. However, he found himself hesitating. Nervously frozen in place, afraid to knock on the door.
He didn’t have to wait too long, though, as suddenly the door was swung open by a bright eyed, smiling Naruto.
“Hey, Sasuke! Welcome to my place! Come on in!” He exclaimed, grabbing Sasuke’s hand and happily pulling him inside.
Naruto locked the door behind them, taking his hand. “Hey mom, dad! Sasuke’s here!” He called.
Within seconds, Minato and Kushina appeared and walked over to them. “Oh, hi Sasuke! How are you, honey?” Kushina asked, waving with a warm smile.
Sasuke bowed a full 90 degrees, showing the utmost respect. “Hello, ma’am.” He said politely, his palms sweating. Why was he so damn nervous?! He was never like this! Not even when facing horrific situations during some of their missions!
Minato smiled, nodding at Sasuke welcomingly. “Hey, Sasuke-kun. We are so happy to have you for dinner.” He said sincerely.
Sasuke bowed once again, this time towards Minato. “Hello, sir. Thank you for inviting me into your home. I am honored to be here.” He said respectfully, his form on his bow flawless and perfectly practiced.
Minato and Kushina shared a sheepish smile at Sasuke’s stiffness. They could tell the boy was nervous. They would do their absolute best to welcome him and make him feel comfortable. They heard a lot of great things about him from Naruto.
“Hey Sasuke, you wanna go help me make some brownies for dessert?” Naruto asked with a grin. He loved sweets! Sasuke nodded stiffly. “Yes.” He said. He followed Naruto into the kitchen, their hands attached once more.
“I’m going to add extra chocolate chips in them to make them even gooier!” Naruto exclaimed, grabbing the bowl and beginning to grab supplies to use like the sugar and butter from the fridge.
Sasuke looked at the fridge and saw an adorable picture of young Naruto and his family at the park. He smiled softly. “You look so cute.” He said. Naruto paused what he was doing and looked at what Sasuke was talking about.
He chuckled. “Yeah, I was pretty adorable, huh? I’ve always been cute, but even back then I was a bit of a troublemaker. Just a little bit.” He winked.
Sasuke lifted a skeptical eyebrow, giving him a look that said ‘yeah right’. “Oh really, a little bit?” He asked. Naruto rolled his eyes, lifting his hands in mock surrender. “Okay, okay, fine. A lot. There, happy?” He teased his boyfriend.
Sasuke smirked, chuckling quietly. Naruto began looking around for a whisk. “Hmm, where did we put that whisk?” He asked himself, opening drawers and searching for it everywhere.
“You know, my mom used to get really pissed off when I’d sneak brownies before dinner. I could never just eat one, I always ate more than I could handle. Sometimes, if she caught me sneaking them, she’d sneak up behind me and swat me with a wooden spoon.” Naruto laughed, recalling the memories of his childhood.
Sasuke curiously watched as Naruto continued searching for the whisk. “I swear I just saw that thing…” He said to himself.
‘So, Naruto’s parents value discipline. Noted.’ Sasuke mentally noted to himself. He would make sure to keep that in mind. “What is your father’s favorite dessert?” Sasuke asked Naruto.
“What?” Naruto asked, confused at the random question. Where the hell did that come from? “Is it brownies as well?” Sasuke asked. Naruto shook his head. “No, I’m pretty sure it’s caramel cheesecake.” He said, still unsure of why he even asked.
‘Noted. I will learn how to make cheesecake later and bring back the final result once I have perfected it. I need to get some ingredients tomorrow at the store.’ Sasuke thought to himself, making yet another mental note.
‘They are going to be so impressed with me. The more I know about them, the more impressed I will make them with me, and they will like-no, love me and approve of me. I have to prove to them that I am good enough to be with their son.’ Sasuke thought, zoning out momentarily as his mind raced.
Suddenly, he saw Kushina handing him a wooden spoon. His mind completely blanked. ‘What is this for?’ He asked himself. Then, his brain went back to the little bit of information he had stored so far about Naruto’s parents and what they liked.
He looked at the spoon, then back up at Kushina, and then over to Naruto, before shrugging and walking over to him. Then, he smacked Naruto’s bottom with the wooden spoon.
Naruto gasped and yelped, holding his ass with both hands and rubbing it tenderly, completely shocked at the sudden action. What the hell had gotten into Sasuke?! “Sasuke! What are you doing?!” He exclaimed, voice cracking in surprise.
Sasuke’s eyes were wide, his jaw dropped as he suddenly took in what had just happened. He was even more shocked at just how loud Naruto’s reaction had been! He didn’t know that he swatted him that hard! He silently looked over at Kushina, who’s own jaw was dropped.
Everyone in the room looked shocked, nobody sure of what to say or do after that. Sasuke had never felt more awkward and embarrassed in his entire life, and was hoping that the ground would just swallow him up right there on the spot.
‘IDIOT! WHAT THE HELL, SASUKE?! WHY THE HELL DID I JUST SMACK NARUTO’S ASS WITH THE FUCKING SPOON?!?! WHY WOULD I DO THAT?!’ Sasuke mentally berated himself.
Kushina gently cleared her throat, drawing the attention back to herself during the awkward and surprising moment that just occurred. “Naruto, I know that you are looking for the whisk, but it actually ended up breaking, so you can just use that spoon instead, okay?” She said. Naruto nodded slowly. “U-uh, okay.” He said, still trying to process what just happened.
Kushina nodded and gave Sasuke a polite smile before leaving the two alone again. Sasuke’s entire face was as red as a tomato.
“Sasuke, what the hell was that about?” Naruto asked. Sasuke shook his head, covering his face.
“I’m so stupid! I was trying so hard to impress your mom that I just blanked out and could only remember what you said about her liking discipline, and I just…I’m so sorry, Naruto. Now your mom is going to hate me and think I’m ridiculous.” Sasuke said, feeling like a complete and utter failure, not to mention a fool.
Naruto frowned as he heard his boyfriend’s words. He knew that poor Sasuke was nervous, and he knew he was trying too hard, but only because he really liked him and wanted things to work out. He wrapped his arms around Sasuke’s neck and pressed his lips to his softly.
Sasuke leaned into the kiss, blushing for a different reason now. When they pulled away, Naruto lovingly gazed into Sasuke’s dark eyes with his contrasting baby blues.
“Sasuke, you are not stupid. You are just trying too hard. I know how nervous you are, but you have nothing to be worried about. My parents already like you, and I promise they will continue liking you the more they get to know you. They have to know the real you, though.” Naruto said, gently running a hand through Sasuke’s black hair.
Sasuke nodded, listening to Naruto’s words and taking them to heart. “You are right, Naruto. Thank you for pulling me back to my senses.” He said.
Naruto smiled and took his hand, leading him over back towards the brownie ingredients. “Let’s get started on those brownies. Not to brag, but I make them taste so delicious!” Naruto exclaimed.
Dinner that night ended up being a great success. Minato and Kushina got to meet the real Sasuke, and they really liked him.
He was exactly how Naruto described him. Once he had relaxed and loosened up a bit, Sasuke realized that he had nothing to worry about.
Now, all he had to worry about was this embarrassing story potentially coming up later by Naruto, which was definitely going to happen.
