Chapter 1: what the whattttt?

Chapter Text

Theo never thought his life would change so drastically at seventeen. One moment, he was just another high school student, navigating exams, annoying teachers, and his relationship with Asher—the hotheaded, cocky Alpha who somehow stole his heart. The next, he was staring at a pregnancy test, his hands trembling, his breath coming in short gasps.

Two lines. Positive.

He blinked. Maybe he was seeing things. Maybe the universe was playing some cruel joke on him. He grabbed another test—then another. Five minutes later, they all said the same thing.

Pregnant.

“Shit,” he whispered.

A knock on the bathroom door nearly made him jump out of his skin. “Theo? You’ve been in there forever,” Asher’s voice came from the other side, muffled but laced with concern. “You good?”

No. He was not good. He was screwed.

“Y-yeah,” Theo called back, but his voice cracked.

Silence. Then, the door creaked open. Asher peeked in, his brows furrowed. “Why do you sound like you saw a ghost?” His gaze dropped to the counter where the five positive tests were laid out like damning evidence. His expression went from confusion to shock in the span of a heartbeat.

“What the—” Asher’s voice trailed off as he stepped inside, his amber eyes flicking from the tests to Theo’s pale face. “Theo… Are you serious?

Theo swallowed hard. “I—I think so.”

For once in his life, Asher was speechless. His mouth opened, then closed, as if struggling to process the words. “But… how? We were careful!”

Theo let out a shaky breath, running a hand through his already-messy hair. “I don’t know! I guess nothing is a hundred percent, and well… here we are.” He looked up at Asher, searching for any sign of how he was feeling. Panic? Anger? Disgust?

Instead, Asher just let out a long exhale and rubbed the back of his neck. “Shit.”

“Yeah.”

More silence. Then, Asher reached out, cupping Theo’s face in his hands. His touch was warm, grounding, despite the chaos inside Theo’s head. “Okay,” he said, voice firm. “We’ll figure this out.”

Theo blinked. “We will?”

“Of course we will,” Asher said, his usual confidence shining through. “I mean… yeah, this is insane. We’re just kids. But I’m not leaving you to deal with this alone.” His thumbs brushed over Theo’s cheeks, gentler than Theo ever thought Asher could be. “We’re in this together.”

Theo felt something inside him loosen—fear still clawed at his chest, but Asher’s words, his presence, made it just a little easier to breathe.

“Okay,” he murmured. “Together.”

Neither of them knew what the future held, but one thing was certain: their lives had changed forever. And ready or not, they were about to become a family.

The rest of the day passed in a daze. Theo and Asher sat on the floor of the bathroom for what felt like hours, neither sure what to say, what to do. Every time Theo looked at the tests, his stomach twisted—not just from nausea, but from sheer terror.

They were seventeen. They still had school, dreams, plans for the future. How were they supposed to raise a baby?

At some point, Asher helped Theo up and led him to the bed. They sat there in silence, staring at the ceiling.

"So… what now?" Theo finally asked, his voice small.

Asher exhaled through his nose, arms crossed behind his head. "First, we go to a doctor. Make sure this is real. Maybe those tests are wrong or something."

"Five tests, Asher," Theo mumbled. "I don't think they're wrong."

"Yeah, but still. A doctor is more… official."

Theo bit his lip, considering. It was true—they needed confirmation. And if this was real (which, let’s be honest, it definitely was), they needed to know what came next.

"Okay," Theo agreed softly.

Then another thought struck him, one that made his stomach lurch. "Oh god. My mom is going to kill me."

Asher flinched. "Your mom, my parents—yeah, we're both dead."

Neither of them had the most understanding families. Theo's mom was a single parent, always pushing him to do his best, never letting him slack off. And Asher's parents? Strict as hell. They had their whole "future Alpha" expectations for him, and this was definitely not part of the plan.

"What if they make me—" Theo stopped, throat tightening. He couldn't even say the words.

Asher sat up so fast the bed creaked. "They won’t." His voice was sharp, certain. "No one is making you do anything you don’t want to do."

Theo looked at him, searching his face. "You mean that?"

Asher didn't hesitate. "Yeah. If you want to keep this baby, we’re keeping this baby. I don’t care what they say. We’ll figure it out."

Theo swallowed the lump in his throat. He hadn’t even had time to think about that yet—what he wanted. It was all so overwhelming. But Asher's words, his confidence, made something inside Theo ease just a little.

"Okay," Theo whispered. "Then… we need a plan."

Asher smirked, nudging him. "Look at us. Already acting like parents."

Theo groaned and flopped back against the pillows. "Don’t say that. It makes it too real."

Asher just chuckled, but there was a hint of nervousness beneath it. Because this was real. And ready or not, they had to face it—together.

A Week Later

Theo sat in the clinic, his hands gripping his hoodie sleeves as he stared at the white walls. Asher sat beside him, bouncing his knee, looking way more nervous than he was trying to let on.

The nurse had already taken Theo’s blood. Now, they were just waiting.

"Maybe it was a false alarm," Asher said, breaking the silence. "Maybe—"

Before he could finish, the doctor walked in, holding a clipboard.

"Theo?" she said gently.

Theo's stomach dropped. He felt Asher grab his hand under the table.

"Congratulations," the doctor said with a small smile. "You're definitely pregnant."

Silence.

Theo felt his breath hitch, but his brain barely processed the words before Asher spoke.

"Okay," Asher said, squeezing Theo’s hand. "So what do we do now?"

The doctor smiled warmly. "First things first—we make sure Theo and the baby are healthy."

Theo barely heard the rest. His heart pounded, and the reality of the situation crashed down on him all over again.

He was really having a baby.

And there was no turning back now.
