Work Text:

To be perfectly fair to Estel, he had not expected anything to go badly. They were in the Valley, the Valley was safe, and he had wanted very, very badly to show his Mom the cool cave he had found. Even Glorfindel tagged along! He watched over Estel a lot, and nothing bad happened when he was around.

So no, Estel hadn't expected the small landslide that caught and trapped them, not even in the cave proper, but just in the nook in the rocks beside it.

He sat down on the ground, pouting. He was not afraid. He was a big boy.

Glorfindel glowed softly in the dark, talking with Mom in hushed whispers. There wasn't much space in their trap, so the goldish light was enough to illuminate all the rocks around them. They felt heavy, and Estel shuffled closer to his Mom, clutching at her skirt.

Maybe he was a little scared. Just a tiny bit.

-Hey, pityo .- Glorfindel murmured, picking him up. -It's going to be all right. I have already reached out for help, we just need to wait a bit there.-

Estel hugged his neck tight, the golden light a welcome bastion of calm certainty. -I'm sorry.- he mumbled out, safely hidden in the crook of Glorfindel's neck.

-What for, Estel?- his Mom asked, voice a bit unsteady.

-I wanted to show you the cave.- he explained miserably. - And now we are stuck.-

-Ai, pityo.- Glorfindel sighed, running a hand over his back reassuringly, and his Mom made a soft sound.

-No, baby. You did nothing wrong, accidents happen. Nobody got hurt, and we will get out shortly.- she squeezed his arm gently, and Estel's breath hiccuped.

-I'm scared.- he admitted, hiding deeper into Glorfindel's collar. - Mom, I'm scared.-

-Shhh, pityo. - Glorfindel pressed his cheek to his hair, a soft wave of reassuring warmth drying up the tears that threatened to fall from Estel's eyes. -Shhh, it's all right. Listen, can you hear?-

There was a loud tapping on the stone that cut them off from the outside world, and somebody shouted something.

-They will get us out of there in no time.- he murmured soothingly, and his Mom hummed in agreement.
