Chapter Text

Y/n felt her throat burn, her eyes stung; red smoke filled the room rapidly, Leith Pierre's voice in the background, condemning her to die.

Huggy was at the door, pounding it while glaring at her with murderous intent, ready to destroy her. And worse, the door was giving way.

There is nowhere to run.

Nowhere to hide.

No escape.

She is going to die.

The red smoke was rapidly weakening her. She could do nothing.

The door finally gave way, and Huggy entered.

No. No. No. No.

With a loud shriek, Huggy attacked, and Y/n screamed.

She felt his strength holding her mercilessly, felt her muscles stretching painfully, bones splintering and breaking.

Y/n could do nothing to defend herself. She heard herself scream, heard herself agonize before Huggy bit her head off.

Was that it?

Was that how she was going to die? Pathetic, miserable, and alone.

The shelter… everyone she had promised to protect… they were all dead.

She killed them all.

Doey was dead. She killed him.

She was forced to do it.

Poppy… that traitor.

She left. She abandoned Kissy and her because she was too afraid to face reality.

Kissy… what would happen to her? Her arm… she couldn't tell her she was sorry. She couldn't say goodbye.

Kissy… her only friend.

She couldn't protect her.

She couldn't protect anyone!

If only… she could go back to the past… if only she could save everyone.

But at that moment, she only felt pain. Her consciousness was fading rapidly as she could only lament painfully.

What a pathetic death. So miserable and alone.

Perhaps she deserved it. She was a curse to all those toys who only wanted freedom.

If only… she could go back and change this destiny.

If only…

If only…

Now there was only darkness.

.

.

Y/n opened her eyes; air returned to her lungs.

She could hear the echo of Kissy's screams.

“KISSY!” Poppy screamed in horror and worry.

They were descending in the elevator that led to the prison entrance.

"W-What...? What was happening?"

“…Listen…” she heard Poppy say, but Y/n was too shocked to say anything.

What was happening?

How was she back there?

She could still feel the ghost of Huggy's teeth tearing her skin.

Poppy… that little, cheeky…

Y/n clenched her fists.

“…Down there… it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.” she said in a somber voice. “It’s infernal! And Playtime wanted it that way.”

She heard her speak, but she didn’t listen. She already knew what she was going to say.

And as far as Y/n was concerned, she knew more than Poppy herself at that moment.

Y/n stepped forward and extended her hand towards her, ready to make her pay.

For a moment, her mind filled with a strong desire to throw her in the trash, along with the mountains of toy corpses.

“Don’t rush it.” her voice sounded in her head.

She forced herself to restrain herself and think more calmly.

Poppy, although she hates her, is useful. She still is…

They reached the level entrance, and Y/n got off. She turned to Poppy and looked at her coldly.

“You better make sure Kissy is alright.”

Poppy looked at her strangely.

“Of course, she’ll be alright.” she replied.

Y/n didn’t look at her anymore and continued on her way.

She could hear the elevator moving away.

Kissy would be alright, but she would be hurt.

She would need to find medicine to cure her.

Some food would also be useful.

Y/n looked into the shadows in front of her.

She didn’t know what had happened. She didn’t know why she was there. She didn’t know if it had all been some kind of strange and terribly realistic vision or if she had really died and returned to life.

But it didn’t matter. Now she knew what would happen and what she would have to do to prevent the past or the future? from repeating itself.

She wouldn’t blindly follow Poppy. She wouldn’t follow her orders.

She needed to find Doey. Help him.

She needed to save those in the shelter. Help Kissy.

Save them from the horrible fate she had seen, lived.

Now, she had a new purpose.

Her main priority would no longer be to kill all her enemies as quickly as possible. It would be to find food and medicine for those in the shelter and then, she would take care of the enemies.

With this in mind and with renewed determination, Y/n walked into the darkness, ready to fight, if necessary, tooth and nail until she achieved her goal.

Chapter Text

Y/n took a little longer on her way. She had to check her surroundings.

Before, she only thought about surviving alone, but now there were many little ones who needed her help.

She needed to find supplies, food, anything that would work.

The hardest thing would be finding medicine, because food would be much easier. Doey taught her, when she killed Pianosaurus, that they are not picky and that they are willing to eat anything.

It was good that there were mountains of fresh corpses that she could use for food. Of course, that would take time and she would have to separate those fresh corpses from those that are not.

And, in the worst case, she would just have to go hunting.

It might sound cruel, but if there was something she had learned in this terrifying experience in the factory, it’s that most had already lost their humanity and were not much different from wild animals.

Once they were children, they were victims. But they were no longer. They weren’t even people. They were monsters.

And as unpleasant as it was, they had to survive. Morality would only lead them all to death.

She would try to kill only if necessary, of course. But it was a fact she couldn’t escape.

Of course she would look for different food, anyway, she would have to eat too. Maybe the toys didn’t mind eating their equals, but she didn’t like that idea so much. Although maybe she’ll end up with no choice like them...

“No. No. No. Stop thinking about that.”

In the end, she wasn’t going to have mercy. Those little monsters tortured her and made her life impossible. She would repay them in kind.

10 years have passed. They are no longer children. No one there, not even herself, was innocent.

Y/n forced herself to concentrate as she watched the mountains of corpses.

She needed something to carry them in. A backpack, a basket, something that could help her carry things.

She walked back and forth across the junkyard, looking for something that could be useful, but there were only corpses and useless trash.

Until she found nylon tapes and small ropes of different materials. They weren’t a backpack, but they would serve to carry tied and hanging meat or edible enough bodies.

She found some plastic bags, the kind they give in stores, and several wooden boxes that she couldn’t carry, but that could also be useful.

She began to search among the corpses for those that looked better or the freshest. Those she was selecting she was putting inside those boxes and, as she was filling them, she was closing them so that no one could take them out of there.

When she filled the boxes, she realized that now she needed a knife or something sharp to skin them and cut them into smaller pieces. But that would be later, first she would have to find a way to transport them.

She hadn’t found anything that would work. There were sharp things that looked like they would give her tetanus and she wasn’t willing to touch those things.

After securing the best corpses, Y/n went deeper, dodging the small colored Huggies that were trying to attack her and going deeper into the prison.

If she remembered correctly, many people worked here, which meant there were lockers where they left their belongings. Which meant there would be backpacks with objects she could use.

She had to rummage around for a while, but she found several backpacks that would work for her, and she also found those knives that are used for self-defense, some men’s and some women’s, but they would work.

The knife she had now had a decorative heart-shaped tag on the handle. So that one was surely a woman’s.

The meat would need to be cleaned and cut into pieces, then she would have to cook it to prevent it from spoiling.

There was a lot to do. Y/n was determined.

“Alright,” Y/n straightened up with a look she hoped was cold. “Let’s get to work.”

She was cooking the meat as if it were roast meat over the fire she was able to make thanks to the flare gun from her Grabpack, and the wood that was scattered everywhere when she heard the phone ring.

Y/n froze for a moment.

Ollie.

The Prototype.

That huge piece of... toy.

She didn’t plan to answer. If she did, it would be to insult him in ancient languages. But she couldn’t...

Y/n had to keep up appearances, at least for the moment.

She answered reluctantly.

“Hello,” the adorable child’s voice only made Y/n furious. “Hey, everything Poppy told you about this place is true, but...”

Y/n stopped listening and concentrated on storing and arranging the meat in the backpacks she had.

The truth. She was a little surprised that there was still water running through the pipes to clean the blood from the meat. But hey, if there was still electricity, why wouldn’t there be water? Right?

That place wasn’t weird just because of the creatures it housed within its walls.

“Hey, are you listening to me?” Ollie called her attention.

“Yes. Yes,” she replied indifferently. “This place is at its worst. Poppy will realize it when she gets down here.”

“Yes. It’s very dangerous now. You have to be very alert,” he said. “Be careful.”

The call hung up and Y/n muttered something against that “degenerate scoundrel” and returned her attention to what she was doing.

She was pushing away the Huggies that were trying to steal her food and jealously guarding what she had just finished cooking in the backpack.

She had found thermoses, bottles and closed glasses where she could store water and she was already carrying them clean and full.

That’s right. When she finished with the meat and water, the backpacks seemed to contain stones and Y/n felt as if their weight was shrinking her. So she decided that part of the Glabpack would carry them and the other her own back.

This food wasn’t for her. It was for Doey, for Kissy and the shelter... And yes, for Poppy too, just because she had to keep up appearances.

Y/n got up feeling like a pack mule.

“Here we go!” she exclaimed to encourage herself.

With so much weight, she knew her journey would be much more complicated.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

“THAT DOCTOR, SON OF YOUR MOTHER!” she screamed as she tried to escape from Yarnaby.

That place was full of interesting materials that could be useful, but with that multicolored lion with crossed eyes she couldn’t explore properly.

Escaping him was already difficult, now with all those backpacks with cold roast meat made it even more difficult.

The good thing is that the Grabpack was designed to move a lot of weight or she would be dead already.

She was running in a straight line while hearing Yarnaby’s growls behind her, when she saw Doey’s yellow hand pointing to the door in front of her.

She entered, closed the door and heard the giant cat complaining.

It wasn’t long before she reached where Pianosaurus and Doey were.

She just had to hold on a little longer.

She wanted to take advantage of the fact that the place was free of enemies to explore, but unfortunately, her back, her arms and her head told her to keep going and then rest before continuing with the exploration.

So she walked, walked and walked until she found Pianosaurus.

She had never been so happy to see him.

“Friend!” she exclaimed unintentionally before, again, falling into her cage and hitting her face. “Aahg...”

Y/n looked up to see how the toy dinosaur was looking at her now. And when he saw her as a possible easy meal, he started running towards her.

Y/n wasn’t afraid. She knew that the one who was going to die that day was him.

And indeed, as in her previous life, several clay hands appeared and immobilized the dinosaur before starting to smash it against the walls.

Pianosaurus was taken straight into the darkness where he was dismembered and devoured.

Y/n looked into the darkness with longing.

“Oh, it was delicious! I haven’t eaten anything in a while!” Doey’s happy voice reached Y/n’s ears.

It was Doey.

He was alive.

He was fine.

He looked at her and approached playfully.

“How are you, my friend~? Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to eat you! Ha, ha, ha, ha!” Y/n didn’t take her eyes off him. Doey bowed and raised his hat. “I’m Doey, they told me I was going to come... Oh. Are you crying?!”

Y/n only felt something wet sliding down her cheeks.

He was here.

He was fine and he wasn’t looking at her with hatred.

“Doey..” Y/n looked at him with her crystalline eyes. “I’m so glad to meet you.”

Chapter Text

Y/n followed Doey all the way to the shelter. She was much faster than in her previous life thanks to her already knowing how to open doors and solve some problems that arose.

She was also restless, because she knew the Prototype was on her heels. Now that she knew, she could detect some strange sounds and shadows behind her, following her.

She increased her speed when, suddenly, she was pulled by Kissy’s hand into a narrow corridor that had formed in the hollow of a wall. Y/n knew they would be there, but it still gave her a little fright.

Poppy motioned for silence and, just like in her previous life, the Prototype appeared. She couldn’t see it completely from that position, but she could notice that its legs alone were terribly tall.

They reminded her of the legs of a spider, crab, and even scorpion. With sharp, metallic, and terribly menacing tips. It wasn’t for nothing that it was the worst enemy she had.

Y/n looked at Kissy, she was as badly injured as in her previous life, but she promised herself to take good care of her in this life. Kissy would recover and be well again.

She looked at Poppy. The doll had a look of terror as she trembled, clutching her chest over her heart and avoiding looking directly at the Prototype.

“She’s definitely scared, huh?”

She hadn’t thought much about it. But even so, that didn’t stop her from wanting to kick that little traitor.

The Prototype left, continuing on its way, looking for them. They also moved.

“Let’s go through the showers. We’ll surely be able to reach the shelter that way,” Poppy whispered.

The tension was palpable. The Prototype was right on the other side of the wall and if they made a mistake, it would kill Kissy and her.

Poppy waited until it was safe to leave before going directly to the shelter. Kissy was moving half-limping, her leg and practically her entire right side were in bad shape.

Y/n promised herself that she would find enough medicine to cure her. She wouldn’t lose her arm again because of her. Kissy didn’t deserve to suffer.

They walked through the showers until they reached the doors leading to the shelter.

Kissy knocked on the doors with both hands, begging to enter.

The doors opened. And the first thing Y/n saw was a small green Scout robot.

They hurried inside.

“Close it! Quickly!” Poppy shouted in desperation.

“What’s going on? What...?” Doey appeared and as soon as she saw Kissy she gasped in terror. “Kissy! Oh no... What happened to you?”

“Someone help her! Now!”

Doey looked down and looked with surprise at the doll.

“Poppy?”

Y/n didn’t stay looking at their interaction. Instead, she turned her body to look around and study the shelter with her gaze.

It felt good to know that everyone was here, safe... for the moment. Although the images of the destroyed and burning shelter were ingrained in her memories.

That wouldn’t happen again. Not if she could help it.

The place was quite colorful, it literally seemed to be made by children. It would take a lot to keep the place in order.

“You brought it here?!” Doey’s shout brought her back to reality.

“We barely arrive and you’re already causing problems, Poppy,” she thought.

She turned her gaze back to the shelter.

It wouldn’t be easy. But she could do a lot of good for them, but it would take time and many resources that Y/n was already thinking of getting.

She knew Doey would support her, but Poppy... Oh, who cares about her! First, we have to keep the shelter and Kissy safe before blowing everything up.

She saw Kissy walk towards the nearest “bed” where she sat down. Poppy approached and took her hand.

“Just rest, okay?”

Y/n felt pain seeing her physique. It looked like she had been burned.

“Poor thing.”

“Don’t worry, Kissy,” Y/n told her. “I’ll take care of finding you the necessary medicine to recover,” she promised.

Kissy gave her a sad look, but said nothing and looked down.

Poppy moved towards the human, looking around.

“I... didn’t think it was this bad. I... I have to make up for this.”

“Yes. Yes you must. And not just to them.”

Poppy started talking about the children and that the Prototype had them. Honestly, Y/n didn’t listen to her motivational talk. There were things that didn’t fit in what she was saying.

Ten years had passed. She didn’t think the children were still alive. If she remembered correctly, the Prototype had allowed Harley Sawyer to live because he needed his knowledge.

Y/n remembered the recording of those two monsters talking. The Prototype wanted Harley to finish a request quickly, but the doctor told him he needed time and the necessary material to fulfill what the Prototype asked of him.

And considering Harley Sawyer’s role in the factory and in this whole nightmare. Also, considering that the Prototype doesn’t care about anyone other than himself or Poppy, she could already imagine the fate of those poor orphans.

Y/n didn’t have to be a genius to know that those children probably no longer existed. Besides, she was sure that most of that information was wrong, because surely Ollie told Poppy all that to drag her to the lower floors.

To drag them all to him.

“Well thought out, 1006.”

Then, Poppy started talking about her idea of blowing up the building.

Y/n looked at her sternly. Poppy stopped.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to blow it up now.”

“What?” Poppy said surprised. “What are you saying?”

Y/n wouldn’t blindly follow that traitorous doll again. So she spoke firmly.

“Look at the place,” she extended her arms to point to the shelter. “Doey told me they are going through terrible needs right now. They won’t be able to follow your plan if they don’t have the strength to do it. I think our priority should be to help everyone in the shelter first, so we can be more people fighting.”

“But...” Y/n got closer and moved Poppy aside (without hurting her) to approach Kissy who looked at her with curiosity. “Kissy, I have something for you,” her voice came out softer and sweeter. “You must be hungry, right?”

Kissy looked at her with interest, before Y/n opened one of the backpacks she was carrying and took out pieces of roasted meat. Kissy felt her mouth water.

“You have food?” Poppy exclaimed, very surprised.

“Yes.”

“Where did you get it?”

“Let’s just say I like to be prepared,” she answered without looking at her. But she softened her voice again with the pink one. “Take it, Kissy. It’s for you. You’ll need strength to recover.”

Kissy extended her good arm and optimistically grabbed the meat before bringing it to her mouth and eating with pleasure.

Y/n left the largest backpack beside her and then looked at Poppy seriously.

“There’s enough meat and water for both of you there. I know you probably don’t eat as much being smaller, but make sure Kissy eats well. I’ll bring more,” she said to the doll. “Kissy needs to recover. We shouldn’t demand anything from her when she has already done so much. We should rest too.”

Without waiting for an answer, Y/n left them alone and walked towards Doey, who she knew was waiting for her.

She could hear a Bubba and a Hoppy complaining about Poppy and about her. Y/n knew the toys wouldn’t trust her.

And the truth is, Y/n didn’t blame them. Who in the world could trust a former employee of that horror factory? At least Doey, Kissy, and Poppy did, but only them.

Y/n had to work very hard to earn enough trust for them to let her help them.

“Hey, Friend!” Doey greeted her. “I-I’d like to talk to you alone about something...” he looked nervous, but Y/n showed herself to be kind.

Doey guided her to the generator room and there they could both talk freely.

“I heard what you did. What you survived,” he began. “If it’s all true, then we need your help...”

Y/n listened to him as he told her about how the Doctor had an Omnihand that controlled everything, he told her about the failing generator and about his concerns.

“I need you to stop the Doctor and recover the Omnihand,” Y/n nodded.

Then came perhaps the most complicated part of the conversation: his opinion on Poppy’s plan.

“...and I understand why Poppy thinks it’s right,” he clasped his hands. “Destroying the factory is destroying him. But I ask you to reconsider.”

“Doey,” Y/n interrupted him softly. “I don’t plan to do things the way Poppy wants.”

“Huh?” He seemed very surprised.

Y/n could understand his surprise, until now she did everything Poppy said. But not anymore.

“I don’t think blowing up the place without more is the right thing to do,” she said, Doey listened to her with interest. “I think we need to think things through better. It seems like they’re having a very hard time here, so I don’t think they have the strength to fight or flee while Poppy wants to burn everything down.”

“You... understand?”

“Of course, Doey. In fact, I told Poppy a moment ago,” she mentioned. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay here because of the Prototype, but they’ve been able to survive here for all these years. So, until we come up with a better plan, it’s best to prioritize the generator and the safety of everyone here in the shelter,” she smiled at Doey. “So don’t worry, I agree with you, Doey.”

The relief in Doey’s eyes tickled her heart.

“Ooh. It’s a relief that you think so,” he said sighing, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. “I was worried that you wouldn’t agree and would just follow Poppy.”

Y/n tried not to grimace, although she doubted she had done it well.

“No. I have enough brain to have my own opinions.”

Doey laughed and looked at her with a smile.

“I’m glad then to know that we think the same.”

“I’m on your side, Doey.”

In this life. Y/n had already decided who to follow.

“Hey, I have a question,” Doey said.

“Yes?”

“How much do you carry in those backpacks? I’ve seen you take care of them as if your life depended on them.”

“Oh! That was something I wanted to tell you,” she lowered the backpacks with a thud to the ground. Y/n sighed in relief. They were very heavy. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Oh yeah?” He approached.

Y/n opened one of the backpacks. The faint smell of cooked meat reached Doey’s nostrils.

“Is that... food?” His eyes were wide open.

“Yes. I also have water,” she said opening the other backpacks. “You said they were starving, right? Would you mind helping me distribute the food?”

Doey looked at her as if she were a heroine.

Chapter Text

The toys chewed noisily and drank the water without any manners. They were all happy to finally have something to eat.

"This is delicious!" someone said with their mouth full. "I thought we were going to starve to death."

"Or because of the Prototype," someone else said in the same way.

The toys barely looked at her; they were too focused on eating the meat she had brought.

They were all very happy, but Y/n knew that, although they might be grateful for the food, they didn't really trust her. And she couldn't blame them.

Still, Y/n wasn't looking for their gratitude. She just wanted to save them and do what she couldn't do in her past life.

She owed them a lot, and she was going to make it up to them. But there was still a lot to do.

The food she had brought was already gone. The backpacks were normal and couldn't hold as much meat as she wanted. They had barely managed a couple of strips of meat each before it all ran out.

She knew there were larger containers she could use to create a warehouse. But that would be a long-term project.

Besides, Kissy and Poppy hadn't eaten all the meat she had given them, as they also shared the meat she gave them so that the others could also eat a little more.

Y/n didn't care that Poppy didn't eat much, but Kissy... she was badly injured and weak; she needed to eat a lot.

She had to get more food. Supplies in general.

She approached Doey with a sheet of recycled paper and a pen that barely had any ink left.

Doey was eating his portion of meat with tears in his eyes.

"This is the most delicious thing I've eaten in a long time. I missed cooked meat," he said without any manners whatsoever while eating.

Y/n didn't mind. Who cared about manners when you're starving?

"Doey, I don't want to bother you," Y/n said, approaching him. "But I need your wisdom."

"You're not bothering me, pal!" he said happily, wiping away the tears that were sliding down his eyes. "How can I help you?"

"Doey, I want you to know that I'm here to help you. You don't have to do everything alone anymore," he looked at her with crystalline eyes. "I want to help you. That's why I need you to tell me the main problems of the shelter and what solutions you have in mind. I'll try to help as much as I can."

"Is... is that really true?"

"Of course. I see that they still need to regain a lot of energy. I'll do my best, but I promise I'll take care of getting food and supplies for the shelter."

Suddenly, she was embraced by two clay arms.

Y/n looked at her newly made list of the shelter’s most serious problems:

SUPPLIES
*Food
*Water
*Medicine

GENERATOR (requires the Omnihand)
*Defenses
*Electricity
*Running water

Those were the main problems Y/n had to work with.

Supplies to strengthen them and the generator to maintain the integrity of the shelter’s structure.

Y/n had a lot of work to do.

She knew where to get food. She still had some decent bodies stored in those wooden boxes in the dumpster, and there were many small creatures she could hunt if things got complicated.

She would need storage boxes where she could store and preserve the food to create a warehouse.

Y/n planned to get plates and glasses from the kitchens in the dining areas of the factory. The food there is surely gone, but she hoped to find salt, as it is necessary for food preservation.

The generator had been having problems lately and had been Doey’s number one concern for a long time.

The generator maintains the defenses, electricity, and running water in the shelter. So it was really important to fix it.

In her previous life, she had listened to Ollie, and this had caused the generator to malfunction. But now she would find a way to fix it.

The Doctor was also a problem; he had been hunting them and had been one of the main causes of the death of 40 of the refugees. Y/n had to stop him, and luckily, she already knew how to do it.

But what if there was another way to fix the generator?

It’s a machine. Y/n was sure it must have its own manual in case it breaks down. She would have to look for it.

Playtime Co. had built that shelter to be a hiding place if things got out of control with the experiments. So it must be fully equipped, but the passage of time, continuous use, and constant attacks have left it in its worst state.

Y/n sighed; she knew she had a long way to go.

Despite everything, she knew that that same day she could put an end to the Doctor and Yarnaby. She could even make sure that everyone had a feast with that colorful lion today.

She would need to burn it like last time. But this time she wouldn’t let it fall into the void, and maybe, leave it a little longer in the flames so it would cook well. That way she wouldn’t have to go to the dumpster.

Y/n smiled. Yarnaby was a monstrosity; it could be enough food for a couple of days.

But for that, Y/n would need to get very sharp knives, preferably butcher knives. All that should be in one of the kitchens.

“Here we go.”

Y/n didn’t know if Yarnaby’s large, cross-eyed eyes helped him have better peripheral vision or if they were just for show. But that didn’t take away from the fact that they were unsettling.

Y/n was connecting wire by wire the electrical supply as she had done in her previous life. She hid when Yarnaby got too close and then came back out to finish the connection.

Everything was much easier now that she knew what to do.

That’s when Y/n started to run, making noise with her footsteps to get the attention of the lion, who roared when he saw her and started running after her.

Y/n ran without looking back as the rumble of Yarnaby’s paws trod on her heels. Despite being made of wool, its speed and ferocity were anything but gentle.

The corridor opened into a large industrial room, a cavernous space with rusty pipes and forgotten machinery. Right in the center, a deep pit glowed with an orange glow. Fire.

Y/n smiled. She was close to making roast lion.

Y/n looked at the old mechanical hook hanging over the fire abyss.

Without time to hesitate, Y/n jumped, extending her arms and throwing the GrabPack with precision. The mechanical hands grabbed the hook, and she swung her body over the void until she reached the other side.

Y/n looked back, expectant.

Yarnaby had reached the edge with a roar. And without measuring the consequences, he launched himself, his front paws extended as if he were going to catch her in mid-air.

But his weight and inertia played against him. Instead of reaching his target, he got caught on the hook. His wool body got tangled in the rusty mechanisms, and for a moment, he struggled frantically, shaking like a puppet caught in its own string.

That’s when the heat from the pit began to do its work. First, just a wisp of smoke rose from his fur, then sparks set him on fire. Yarnaby let out a high-pitched shriek as his paws thrashed desperately, but each movement only fanned the flames.

The fire spread quickly, devouring his wool body in a blink. His roars became sharper.

Y/n knew there was no time to lose and prepared her Grabpack.

Finally, the hook gave way and Yarnaby fell. But Y/n wasn’t going to let such an amount of food that that lion could provide disappear.

Y/n used her hands to intercept Yarnaby in mid-fall and push him to the other side so that he would fall to the ground, not into the fire pit.

Yarnaby fell to the other side and began to shake in pain, trying to put out the fire. But Y/n went after him and used her orange hand to fire more flares and prevent the fire from going out.

Yarnaby tried to escape, but Y/n used the Glabpack to grab a heavy box and throw it over his head, crushing him.

Yarnaby stopped moving, and only the crackling of the fire consuming his body could be heard.

Y/n approached with a very large smile on her face.

“Today we’re going to eat pickled lion! Ha ha,” she laughed. “No, no, no. Better. Grilled lion! HA, HA, HA, HA!”

Y/n took out the butcher knives she had found in one of the kitchens and, when she was sure the meat was well-roasted, she began to cut with a huge smile of satisfaction.

Doey, Poppy, Kissy, and all the other refugee toys looked with stars in their eyes, hunger, and admiration at the pieces of Yarnaby’s meat that Y/n presented to them with a smug and proud smile.

Y/n had found a kind of mining cart, larger than the normal ones, where she could put all of Yarnaby’s meat, helping her enormously when transporting it.

Y/n was tired, but seeing the expression on their faces had made all the work worthwhile.

Doey and Poppy had to help her distribute the food and store the leftovers in a dry and temperate place.

“Here, Kissy,” Y/n handed her friend a huge piece of meat. “You need to recover, so don’t be afraid to eat all of this; the others already have their rations.”

Kissy extended her good hand, and Y/n helped her place the meat in a position that was easy for her to hold and eat.

“I found some burn ointments,” she said, taking a cream out of a backpack. “It will help you improve your wounds. Would you... let me help you put it on while you eat?”

Kissy nodded, and Y/n approached. Although she deliberately ignored Kissy’s teeth while she ate, as it reminded her of Huggy.

And speaking of him. Y/n knew she had to be careful. Everyone thought Huggy was dead, but now she knew better.

Huggy was wandering around looking for revenge. Despite being very badly injured, he was still a powerful force that could be a great threat.

She would have to be more attentive.

“Oh! Is this... salt?” she heard Poppy say surprised to feel the salt on the meat.

Y/n replied without ceasing to treat Kissy’s arm with great care.

“Yep.”

“Where did you get the salt?” this time Doey asked.

“I found some in the kitchen; I thought I’d use it to put it on the meat so it would taste better.”

Y/n was about to say more, but she had to be careful what she said, as both Doey and Poppy could tell Ollie, innocent that he was an imposter.

But she would take care of “Ollie.”

“Where did you find the burn ointments?”

“They were in a first-aid kit in the room where Yarnaby was. I brought it too. The first-aid kit seemed to be almost completely restocked,” she said. “I think they had done it days before the Time of Joy.”

“Who would say that the meat of that scoundrel lion would taste so good,” Doey commented while eating happily.

Y/n said nothing and only concentrated on finishing the burns on Kissy’s face and arm.

“Y/n, where are you going?” Poppy asked.

The woman looked at her coldly.

“There are still things to do. I can’t stay to rest.”

“But you haven’t even eaten,” Doey said a little worried.

Y/n looked at the cart with meat.

“Don’t worry. That meat is for you; I’m fine,” she replied. “We still have to find the Omnihand to repair the generator.”

“Oh.”

Doey and Poppy looked at each other. They knew Y/n was right; getting the Omnihand was essential to keeping the shelter safe. But still...

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Y/n began to walk away. “I’ll bring more supplies if I find any.”

“Y/n!” they exclaimed, but she left.

The toys who weren’t asleep after eating watched as Y/n walked away.

Suspicious glances.

Y/n knew that her reputation as an employee didn’t help her at all. But she would show them that they would be fine.

It didn’t matter if they never liked her or if they didn’t trust her. She just wanted to give them everything they needed to repay her debt to them.

Y/n looked at her list.

The shelter had food and water. Now she could concentrate on getting the Omnihand or looking for a repair manual for the generator.

Y/n thought better of it.

She could defeat the Doctor AND look for a manual to avoid following Ollie’s erroneous instructions.

Y/n took out an old granola bar she had found under a desk and began to eat.

It was tasteless and hard, but Y/n didn’t complain.

It was time to continue.

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Y/n didn’t believe in relying solely on the Omnihand. In a hostile environment like the factory, it’s always good to have a backup plan. And for that, she needed the manual.

She was sure she should also look for the general shelter blueprints. The defenses and how everything works, so she could know what to do and how to even improve it.

But she had to be careful, Poppy and Doey didn’t know about who Ollie really was and, without a doubt, they would tell him everything she was doing.

She had to do something. She had to unmask Ollie. But if she did it out of the blue, it could backfire.

From what she knew in her previous life, Ollie had been deceiving Poppy and the shelter for years, even before the Hour of Joy.

If she simply told them that Ollie was the Prototype, they wouldn’t believe her because he had always been supporting them. They would take her as a traitor who was trying to sow doubt among them.

Y/n would have to sow doubt if she wanted to get rid of Ollie.

The Prototype... Why would he want to stay close to Poppy? According to the videotapes, Ollie was always there to encourage Poppy.

After the Hour of Joy, all the toys that opposed the Prototype were hunted and destroyed, except for those in the shelter. Poppy was a powerful leader, but she wasn’t killed, but the Prototype himself locked her in that glass box.

And Poppy didn’t look bad. She wasn’t starving, she wasn’t mistreated. She had been well cared for.

“...Don’t you understand?! It’s always been about you and me, Poppy. What WE ARE. It’s a fact you can’t ignore... Not when it can mean so much...”

But what are they and why does it mean so much?

Y/n clenched her fists thinking about Poppy. That vile traitor.

She wouldn’t let her abandon them again.

Not without consequences.

Technically, she hadn’t done anything yet and she cares a lot about the shelter.

Still... She wouldn’t follow his orders anymore, not because now she knows she’s able to leave if things go wrong.

Y/n sighed.

“Now. First things first. I need to get rid of that old TV-faced Doctor.”

Y/n had taken it upon herself to destroy the important parts of the Doctor, one by one. Always suffering hardships because obviously he wouldn’t let himself be killed easily.

But his brain was still missing. The only thing that kept him alive and the one that was going to be the hardest to destroy.

As she ventured into the dark corridors, Sawyer’s distorted voice echoed through the speakers, permeating the air with a mixture of mockery and threat.

"Do you think you can stop me? You’re just another pawn in this game. My creations are superior, and you’re nothing more than a passing nuisance."

Y/n walked among the monitors that watched her with many eyes, feeling harassed. She opened the doors to confront the Doctor and realized that she felt the same fear she had felt in her previous life.

"Not even the floor you’re on is safe." she heard his voice echo before one of his robots grabbed her by the neck and threw her.

The last game had begun.

Y/n knew she had to move fast and not waste any more time.

She had to find the batteries and overload the system to destroy the last of the Doctor.

Everything was dark and looked like a labyrinth full of robots with monitor heads and single, terrifying eyes that chased her as she approached.

The tension increased with each step. She couldn’t always escape the metallic hands of the robots and ended up wounded with marks and bruises in the shape of enormous hands.

"Who came up with making so many of those things?!" she exclaimed frustrated.

"All this was going to be mine! Mine alone! I built the golden path!" Sawyer shouted furiously.

"Soon you won’t have to worry about that."

Y/n started to run, dodging the bots that tried to block her way. Sawyer’s voice became more aggressive, resonating with contained fury.

"You can’t escape! This is my domain. Every corner, every shadow, belongs to me. There’s nowhere you can hide from me."

The chase was relentless. Y/n turned corners, sliding through dimly lit passages, while the security bots followed close behind, their metallic steps echoing like a sinister echo.

The woman’s ragged breathing and the constant hammering of her heart added an additional layer of tension to the already charged atmosphere.

It was as difficult and terrifying as in her past life, but now she had the advantage of knowing how to move, knowing what to do and what to look for.

The batteries she needed were strategically scattered, forcing her to confront the bots who waited for her with their deadly hands.

Y/n ran, escaped again and again, didn’t stop moving while Sawyer’s furious screams echoed.

Finally, Y/n reached a large room, dominated by a central structure: a tank full of liquid, inside which floated Sawyer’s brain, connected to countless wires and tubes that kept it functional. Surrounding monitors showed images of different areas of the facility, evidencing the absolute control the Doctor exerted over the factory.

With determination, Y/n approached the main control panel, aware that she had to overload the system to stop the Doctor. As she manipulated the controls, Sawyer’s voice resonated again, this time with a mixture of desperation and rage.

"Stop! You don’t understand the consequences of your actions. Without me, all this will fall into chaos. I’m indispensable!"

"Get Off, you miserable wretch! Nobody needs you!"

Ignoring the pleas and threats, Y/n continued her work. The lights began to flicker more intensely, and a deafening alarm filled the space.

Finally, upon activating the main lever, a spark ran through the circuits, causing a massive overload.

The Doctor sent his bots to get her, but Y/n moved away, just waiting for Harley to collapse.

The tank containing Sawyer’s brain emitted a high-pitched hum. With a final flash, the system collapsed, and the laboratory was plunged into a deathly silence.

The robots stopped moving and froze in attack and ambush positions.

"You... didn’t save... anyone." he said before finally dying.

Y/n felt chills. She remembered how, in her past life, those words were prophetic, but Y/n realized too late.

But now things were different. She was no longer the naive woman she used to be.

Everything became very peaceful and Y/n felt her body relax despite the wounds she had on her.

Y/n couldn’t help but let out a huge sigh of relief.

Y/n didn’t leave those rooms full of robots after her fight against the Doctor, but took advantage of the fact that the wretch was already dead to investigate if there was anything useful hidden in the facilities.

Perhaps she had been searching too long among rooms full of files and computers in the offices, but it all paid off when she found exactly what she was looking for.

Harley Sawyer had hidden all the blueprints of the shelter and an important manual about the generator on one of the tables where she had previously found the batteries.

Very clever. Knowledge is power, and if you leave your enemies without knowledge, you can lead them to their doom sooner or later.

There was a lot of important information about many things, but most of that information was no longer useful to her given the situation the factory was in.

However, she found a file that made Y/n’s smile widen with a happiness and a huge need to see the world burn like she hadn’t felt in so long.

It was a file full of notes and entries about a boy named Ollie. And what she liked most was finding the death certificate of the boy.

“...the experiment didn’t work as predicted.... 1006 made him part of himself... It was a failure...”

This was exactly what she needed.

"I think I found the jackpot. Oooh! This is so good!"

Not only that. The place had many batteries and other components that could be very useful for the shelter.

The capsules where Harley Sawyer’s organs were contained valuable parts.

But best of all, she achieved her goals. Now she had the Omnihand, the generator manual and irrefutable proof that the Ollie they trusted was nothing more than an imposter, along with a lot of parts and technological supplies.

Y/n did a little victory dance.

It took much longer than she had planned, much longer than in her past life. But finally Y/n arrived at the shelter with a new cart full of batteries and components that would help the shelter.

And, of course, with the Omnihand proudly added to her Grabpack.

"You did it! You got the Omnihand!" Poppy exclaimed happily "So... we can do it... It’s... I can’t tell you how much this means. It’s spectacular!"

Y/n couldn’t help but strut, looking up with pride and arrogance.

"Of course I did. I’m great."

Poppy smiled happily.

"You did something no one ever could: Give us hope. And that here, is worth a lot."

Y/n looked at her. She wanted to say something derogatory, but she didn’t. She was in a good mood and didn’t want the memories of the past to ruin that.

Poppy hadn’t technically betrayed them yet. But still...

Y/n sighed in surrender.

She knew that sooner or later she would have to have a difficult conversation with her. She knew she would have to ask, but now wasn’t the time.

"Take some time to rest. I imagine everyone wants to tell you something." she started to walk away from her "We’ll be in the generator room when you want to start."

"Let’s go then." Y/n replied.

"Oh. Don’t you want to rest? You were out for a long time and not to mention how much it must have cost you to bring all this here." she pointed to the cart.

"I’m sure. When I’m done with the important things, then I’ll rest."

Poppy thought for a moment. She wasn’t sure about letting Y/n continue after working so hard. But Y/n seemed quite determined to continue.

"If that’s what you want. Let’s go." she said and started walking towards the generator room.

Y/n knew there was no time to rest. The real fight hadn’t started yet.

The toys whispered around her, but this time Y/n paid them no attention as she and the doll entered the generator room.

"Y/n!" Doey exclaimed happily, approaching with wide eyes. "You brought a lot of things. We were worried because you had taken a long time."

"We almost went looking for you."

"I thought it would be useful to bring more supplies."-she said patting the protruding batteries of the cart. "Besides, I found very interesting things."

"Oh yeah?" Poppy and Doey approached her.

"Ta-raaan!" she showed them the blueprints of the shelter and the generator.

Doey almost fainted.

"You..."

"That’s the generator manual!" Poppy exclaimed in amazement.

Y/n smiled and started striking poses showing the manual as if she were a television product model.

"Now we have everything to fix that generator."

"AAAAA!" Doey shrieked with excitement before throwing himself at her and hugging her with his enormous clay strokes. "I can’t believe you did it! Thank God! I’ve been looking for those blueprints everywhere!" he said starting to jump and spin with the woman in his arms.

Y/n shuddered. Doey was unintentionally crushing some of the bruises from her previous fight.

"Doey, you’re crushing me." she said trying not to sound so hurt.

"I’m sorry! I’m sorry." he said letting go. "It’s just that I’m so happy. No wonder Poppy calls you her angel."

"I don’t call her that" Poppy said embarrassed. "I don’t know who started that rumor." she sighed. "But it’s true that you’re an angel for us, Y/n. Now that you’ve brought the tools we need, we can reinforce the shelter."

"That’s exactly what I want. I’ve been studying them to know what to do."

"Good! Now without the Doctor, the Prototype will start to move. He must be scared, he knows he’s losing, and the orphans are all he has left."

Y/n looked at Poppy. The doll seemed so eager to make the Prototype suffer, to let him know that she was a thorn in his side.

She couldn’t help but remember how terrified she was when in her past life she abandoned Kissy and her.

“I can’t go back to that box. I can’t... I’m sorry.”

Why is Poppy so afraid of him? If the Prototype doesn’t want to kill her, why then would Poppy be so willing to run and escape with so much terror?

She hadn’t asked herself that until now.

Even so. That didn’t change the fact that, if things got too bad, Poppy was willing to leave. Although she could see that she would only do so if there was nothing left.

Well, Poppy didn’t leave until the Prototype took everything from her: the shelter, Doey, the hope and the confidence to continue.

“The Doctor, Catnap, Mommy and Huggy. They’re dead! You... you have nothing left. Nobody! And soon, you’ll have less than that!”

Y/n wanted to beat her to a pulp, but she had to admit that, even until that moment, Poppy had stood firm until he filled her with terror and shattered her spirit.

Poppy’s loyalty didn’t seem easy to break and she fought for it, but still... when Y/n thought of Kissy... Y/n couldn’t forgive her. Even if in this life she wasn’t leaving them behind.

The sound of the phone broke her thoughts and silenced what Doey and Poppy were saying.

"He’s outside!"

Y/n got ready. This was the definitive moment.

The woman looked at the ceiling. There were no cameras where someone could spy on her. Ollie couldn’t see her.

If she made Ollie believe she was following his orders, then she could deceive the Prototype.

"Doey! You have to keep him away from the shelter." Poppy told her.

"But the generator...!"

"I’ll take care of the generator." Y/n said. "I have the Omnihand. Everything will be alright."

"Trust me this time, Doey." said Poppy taking his hand between her small ones.

Doey reluctantly agreed, but with confidence.

"Just get the generator working."

"I will." Y/n replied with confidence and determination. "I won’t fail you."

Doey nodded and ran out.

"I’m going to gather everyone and protect them." said Poppy, willing to help, but terrified. "Ollie, help fix the generator."

"Yes, my captain!"

Poppy left the room and looked at Y/n.

"I know you’ll succeed."

Y/n nodded.

"I certainly will."

“This time. I’m not going to fail.”

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Y/n deliberately ignored every single instruction Ollie gave her. Having taken the time to study the pages of the manual, she knew that what Ollie was trying to do was pretend to help her when, in reality, he was guiding her to overload the generator and make it explode.

But two could play at this game. So Y/n pretended to listen to him, when in reality, she had the manual open to the page that explained exactly how to perform the correct maintenance.

There were no cameras in that place, so she could pretend without worrying about being discovered. By the time the Prototype knew, it would be too late.

“Ready. I’m done,” said Y/n after checking three times that everything was in order. “The generator works. We did it, Ollie!”

A deep breath was heard from the phone.

“It’s done... We did it... Good...,” his voice sounded more serious, with concealed malice. “Good job, Y/n,” the false voice congratulated her.

Doey is right. Kind voices lie.

The phone hung up and Y/n left with a satisfied smile from the generator room where Poppy was waiting for her.

“You... You did it!” she exclaimed, relieved and happy. “I... Saying thank you isn’t enough,” she sighed in relief, but then gave a worried look. “I haven’t heard from Doey, what must have happened out there?”

“Doey?”

“No... no. It’s okay. I’m sure,” she said more to herself.

Y/n looked around. The toys were celebrating, now they looked stronger.

Y/n smiled at their joy. The food was helping them.

Now, we have to continue with the next phase.

“What should I do now?” she heard Poppy murmur. “We shouldn’t waste time, we could set the explosives...”

“Wait, Poppy,” Y/n addressed her urgently. The doll looked at her. “It’s not a good idea to use the explosives now. The Prototype must be close, even if Doey scared it away, it’s not safe to expose the explosives like this,” she said and explained. “You said it yourself, it must be scared, so it will look for anything to try to sabotage us.”

Poppy nodded slowly, thoughtfully.

“Yes... Yes. You’re right,” she said with restored firmness. “Doey is out there, he could get hurt if we set the explosives. Besides, leaving them outside would give the Prototype a chance to use the explosives against us.”

“I know you want to destroy the Prototype. And believe me, I do too. But now we have to be very careful about what we do,” she said. “A scared monster can do too much damage if you’re not careful.”

“Yes, you’re right, Y/n,” she nodded. “We must protect the explosives. Go get them. You can use some of the carts in the caves to move them faster. But be very careful.”

Y/n nodded firmly.

“I will,” having said this, she turned and began to walk away.

She would go to get the explosives and bring them to the shelter. However, she would make sure to disconnect the power sources that would make them ignite until it was time to use them. That way she could prevent them from exploding by mistake. The last thing she needed was for the explosives, instead of the generator, to ruin all her work.

“This time, you’re not going to get away with it, Ollie.”

The caves were invaded by those little Nightmare Clitters. She would have to hunt them later and store their meat for the shelter.

It didn’t take her long to gather all the explosives in an old cart that needed its tires changed.

She had to prepare a warehouse in the shelter for all the supplies and things she was carrying. And separate the food from the batteries and other inorganic objects.

Y/n sighed.

That reminded her that she hadn’t eaten anything but that tasteless, hard bar she had found on her hunt with Yarnaby.

But that didn’t matter now. She would eat something later. First she had to take all the deactivated explosives to the shelter.

She was close when a yellow hand grabbed her. It was Doey.

“The Prototype. I lost sight of it in the tunnels. Did you see it?” he looked nervous and scared. “Was it in the foundations? Or where...?” he looked around suspiciously.

“No. I haven’t seen it,” she replied. “But I’m sure we’re safe for now.”

“Do you think so?” he asked uncertainly.

“Of course,” Y/n put a hand on his.

Doey softened his gaze, but then he saw that she was carrying

“Are those the explosives?” he asked confused.

“Yes. Poppy wanted me to set them, but I convinced her to wait,” she said. “I told her I would come for them because it would be very dangerous to leave them outside where the Prototype or other enemies could take them and use them against us.”

“Are you going to take them to the shelter?” he looked around, searching for traces of the Prototype.

“It’s the safest place,” she explained. “Relax, I’ve disconnected them from their power sources so they won’t explode. They’re harmless.”

“Okay...,” he said in a sigh, cautiously. “And the generator?”

“It’s in perfect condition,” Y/n smiled. “I’ve completely repaired it. Everything is fine, Doey,” she gave him a look full of emotion as she squeezed his hand. “We did it. Everyone is safe.”

“Really?” he looked at her pleadingly.

“Really.”

Doey smiled and gave a slight smile.

“Then let’s go back quickly,” he approached and took the cart with the explosives, helping her. The cart moved easily under his strength. “Everyone must be worried about us.”

“Everyone? I think they’re more worried about you than me,” Y/n thought with some sadness. The toys in the shelter, except for Poppy and Kissy and him, are the only ones who really care about her.

“-What is she doing here?

-I don’t know. They let her in.

-...we have to be careful, especially with her new friend.

-Ah, yes. The employee...”

Y/n isn’t going to be fooled. To those in the shelter, she’s nothing more than an employee. Even if they are happy and grateful for her help at that moment, she knows they don’t trust her.

Who would trust an employee? The number can be counted on one hand.

Y/n didn’t spend much time in the shelter, but she could hear the whispers and glances of many of them.

If they approached her, it was for food. Nothing more.

She represents everything that made them suffer. She couldn’t blame them.

“Pal?”

“Ah. I’m coming.”

There was still something to do. Her plans wouldn’t work if Ollie still had the trust of Doey and Poppy, because they would tell him any plan she had and that would ruin everything.

She had to unmask that degenerate once and for all. And she already knew how to do it.

She had told Doey and Poppy that she needed to talk to them about something very urgent, something she had discovered.

She summoned them to a room that had a vent that connected outside the shelter. It was through that same vent that Y/n once overheard a conversation between Doey and Poppy, where Doey reproached her for wanting to destroy their home.

“-We looked for you everywhere... Now you come and you’re not going to tell me where you were?

-I had to leave, Doey.

-This is our home. They trust me. And you want to burn it all down?... We’re not monsters. We’re people. Or have you forgotten?”

It wasn’t Y/n’s intention to eavesdrop, but it was thanks to that that she realized she could use that same vent to set a trap for Ollie.

Doey and Poppy were safe inside the shelter, on the other side of the vent, innocent of what she was going to do. She was outside, strategically close to that vent so they could listen without being seen.

Since the shelter didn’t explode, 1006 should be confused about what happened.

“...Y/n did a great job with the generator,” she heard Poppy’s voice on the other side of the vent. “Thank you so much, Ollie. You helped a lot too.”

“Yes.. ah.. It was nothing. I knew we could do it,” she heard Ollie’s voice, his voice somewhat static because of the phone.

“It was pretty good that Y/n found the manual to repair the generator,” this time it was Doey’s voice.

“What?” Ollie asked in surprise.

“Oh yes. We didn’t tell you because the Prototype attacked suddenly,” Poppy said. “But Y/n found a manual with instructions for the generator. She brought many documents, in fact.”

“Oh... That’s... good. Now the shelter won’t have any problems.”

“Yes! Isn’t it great?!”

“It is, but... Where is Y/n now?”

“Oh. She said she would see us here...,” Doey said thoughtfully. “But it seems she hasn’t arrived.”

“She told us she wanted to tell us something urgent.”

“In that case. Let me call her. To hurry her up so we can all hear together what she wants to tell us.”

“Okay. I’ll call you later,” Poppy said goodbye.

“See you,” his voice came out sharper than he probably intended before hanging up.

Y/n waited until Ollie called her. She could hear the sounds of surprise from Doey and Poppy as they heard the phone ring from the vent.

Good. Y/n would pretend they weren’t there listening.

Y/n answered.

“Hello, Ollie.”

“Hey. Good job. We managed to save the shelter,” his voice came out with feigned joy.

“Of course we did.”

“Hey.. Poppy and Doey told me you got a manual. Why... didn’t you tell me?”

Y/n smiled.

“Oh, well. In fact, the reason is most interesting,” she replied indifferently. “It turns out that, after having defeated the Doctor, I started investigating and reading a lot of documents that I saw he had. And... I found something very interesting.”

Y/n approached where the vent was.

“Oh, yeah? What is it?”

Y/n moved the documents she was carrying so that the pages could be heard.

“I found a very hidden file about a boy named Ollie,” there was total silence. “According to these files I found, Ollie was a boy who was used in an experiment interacting with 1006.”

There was no answer. So Y/n moved the pages again, looking for the right one.

“Uh-huh. Here it is.”

“INCIDENT REPORT – EXPERIMENT 1006

Classification: Confidential

Incident Date: May 17, 20XX

Incident Time: 10:43 PM

Location: Sublevel 3 Testing Laboratory

Subjects Involved:

Test Subject: Oliver “Ollie” Carter– Age: 10 years

Entity under study: Experiment 1006 (The Prototype)

Incident Summary:

On May 17, 20XX, an interaction test was conducted between test subject “Ollie” and Experiment 1006. The objective of the study was to evaluate the entity’s cognitive and emotional responses to human stimuli in a controlled environment.

“Ollie” was introduced to the test chamber at 10:30 PM. Interactions were initiated under the supervision of the research team. During the first few minutes, Experiment 1006 showed receptive behavior, imitating the child’s vocal patterns and expressions. However, at 10:42 PM, the entity presented an unexpected and aggressive response, manifesting changes in its motor structure.

At 10:43 PM, Experiment 1006 attacked the child. Attempts by the team to intervene were ineffective due to the speed and lethality of the aggression. “Ollie” suffered fatal injuries and 1006 made him part of itself before the containment protocol could be activated. His death was declared at 10:45 PM.

The interaction test was a complete failure.

Conclusion and Measures Taken:

Experiment 1006 has demonstrated a high level of adaptation and an alarming ability to manipulate human interactions. Its behavior suggests an advanced recognition of emotional vulnerability in its targets. Due to the nature of the incident, all direct contact tests with living subjects have been suspended until further notice.

The child’s body has been removed and registered under the confidentiality protocol. Superiors have been notified and a detailed analysis of Experiment 1006′s anomalous behavior will proceed.

End of report.”

Y/n let there be a moment of silence. Nobody said anything.

“There’s also a death certificate for the child and a report on what Ollie was like. Apparently he was a very sweet, curious and kind young man. But he died... more than 15 years ago.”

Y/n could feel the tension in the air.

“You know something interesting? When Poppy asked you to help me fix the generator, I realized that the instructions you were giving me were strange. Literally, if I did what you asked me to do, the generator was going to end up overloading and exploding, wiping out the entire shelter and everyone in it... Hmm... Doesn’t that seem strange?”

She heard a resigned sigh on the other end of the phone.

“Now. Are you going to try to keep trying to deceive me, 1006? Or would you prefer me to call you: Prototype?”

A laugh was heard on the other end of the phone.

“YoU’re rEAlly incREdibLE, aREn’t yOU?” the different voices answered. ”I ADmiT it’S surPRIsiNG to ME.”

Y/n smiled. Finally, the unhappy one showed himself.

“So you’ve been impersonating a friend and manipulating everyone this whole time, huh? I admit it was a really good play. Too bad your mask fell off.”

"NoBOdy’sGOIng tO BElieVe yOU. PoPPy anD DoEY are MY PawnS. I’ve bEEn plAYIng WIth tHEm foR MAny yeARs. WhAT do YOu thINk tHEy’lL saY WHen yOu wANt to tELL thEM abOUt thIs?”

“Mmm... I don’t know,” she pretended to think and approached the vent. “What do you say, Poppy and Doey?”

“WhAT?”

The voices of Doey and Poppy began to sound. Terrified, incredulous, hurt.

“I can’t believe it...”

“It can’t be true....” Poppy’s voice sounded hurt, surprised. “You...! You’re the Prototype?! This whole time?!”

His voice changed again. This time, for a moment, it sounded like Ollie again.

“Doey... Poppy... don’t hate me.”

Doey felt a lump in his throat.

“No... Don’t you dare use that voice! Liar!”

Y/n, with her heart hammering in her chest, took a deep breath.

“The charade is over, 1006. You don’t have to keep pretending,” her voice hardened. “You’re not going to play with us anymore. It’s over.”

The Prototype fell silent and then angry breaths were heard.

"DoN’t tHINk tHIs iS tHE enD, liTTle eMPloyEe,” his voice was hard and threatening. ”YoU plAYeD WeLl. BuT I ALwAYs gEt wHAt I waNT.”

The call hung up.

That’s it. It was all done.

It wasn’t much, but it was enough. Y/n was satisfied.

On the other side of the vent, inside the shelter. Doey and Poppy could barely articulate words after the revelation.

Doey closed his eyes tightly, trying to assimilate the truth.

Poppy dropped her head against the wall, feeling that the whole world had just crumbled.

Because Ollie never existed.

All these years, after everything they went through, after all the calls and words...

It was all a lie.

And they had been talking to a monster all this time.

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Y/n worked hard to stay busy and ignore the suspicious glances, the judgmental whispers coming from the refuge’s toys.

Y/n knew they didn’t want her. Just because she’d saved them and brought them food didn’t mean her past simply disappeared.

Y/n had worked there. Y/n knew about the experiments. Y/n represented everything that had hurt them for so long, everything they’d fervently destroyed during the Hour of Joy.

Simple charitable acts, no matter how important, wouldn’t instantly change everyone’s opinion. Things just don’t happen that way.

They didn’t openly despise her, but there was considerable discomfort, and she heard their whispers when they thought she couldn’t see. She was an outsider, not part of the refuge.

It hurt, of course. But Y/n didn’t expect their acceptance, their empathy, or anything. She just wanted them to be okay; she promised herself to protect them to atone for her past mistakes.

She understood their distrust. She really did. She couldn’t blame them, she really couldn’t.

But now that she’d taken care of the main enemies, Y/n had plenty of work to do in the refuge to ensure their protection.

Now that the generator was working perfectly, it was time to improve the defenses and anything else needed. She didn’t do it alone; she taught Doey and Poppy, using the instructions from the files and manuals she’d found.

They managed to electrify their defenses, preventing any enemy from even getting close. They improved the drainage and pipes throughout the place, ensuring a continuous water supply. She improved the electrical system and all the ventilation systems.

Y/n cleaned a carefully chosen room and created a storage area for all the supplies. Everything was organized.

Food. Medicine. Blankets and pillows. Batteries. Etc. Everything was perfectly organized.

Y/n used to bring many supplies and materials she found on her trips. She dismantled offices or areas with useful instruments and took them to the refuge, where she improved the facilities to make life easier inside.

She appropriated anything that could help the refuge grow and improve. Etc.

Y/n taught Doey and Poppy everything in the manual so they could then teach the others. After all, the leaders aren’t the only ones who should do something in the refuge, and if something happened to the leaders, they would have to act.

Doey, Poppy, and Kissy seemed very happy with everything she did. The refuge was constantly improving, and the bad days seemed further and further away.

Y/n also spent time with Kissy, tending to her wounds, applying ointments and medication for her burns. Y/n always made sure Kissy had the softest pillows and the warmest, best-condition blankets.

At mealtimes, Y/n gave Kissy the tastiest parts and large portions. Kissy, although she enjoyed being pampered, didn’t understand why Y/n seemed to care so much about her.

Everyone obviously noticed Y/n’s clear preference for Kissy. Nobody understood why.

They thought it was because Kissy was the worst off at the time in the refuge, severely injured and weak.

Thanks to Y/n, she was starting to recover and be clearly spoiled. Kissy didn’t complain; when was the last time someone had pampered her so much? She couldn’t remember.

But there was something different. Y/n didn’t prefer Kissy because of her injuries; they couldn’t explain it, but from the way she treated her, looked at her, and spoke to her, they knew there was another reason. Something only she seemed to know.

“Can you move your arm, Kissy?” she asked cautiously.

Kissy slowly moved her burned arm. It looked much better than when they arrived at the refuge.

Y/n smiled.

“It seems to be improving more and more.” She looked at her wrist. “Well done. Remember to take the pills if it hurts a lot, okay?” Kissy nodded. Y/n stood up and gave her a compassionate, sweet look. “Rest, Kissy. Don’t overexert yourself.” She stroked her head and walked away.

“Have you eaten, Y/n?” Doey asked.

It was late; everyone had already eaten something, but they hadn’t seen her take a bite.

Y/n shook her head with a smile.

“Don’t worry. I’ll go get something to eat.”

Doey looked at her with a confused frown.

“But there’s still food left. You don’t have to go get more.”

Y/n took a step back.

“It’s best that you store it. That food is for you.”

“Y/n,” Doey approached. “You know you can take some, right? You were the one who got it. Why do you refuse to eat the food you brought? We have enough for a few days.”

The woman continued to step back, and Doey followed, not understanding why Y/n was acting like this.

Doey had never seen her eat. She always went out to get her own food after she brought tons of meat for them.

It didn’t make sense. Why did she refuse to take from the supplies she provided? She didn’t even take medicine.

“Doey,” Poppy’s voice called from afar.

“Poppy’s calling you. Don’t keep her waiting,” Y/n said as an excuse.

Doey looked at her, sighed, and offered her a piece of meat.

“Just eat. You don’t have to deprive yourself of something that’s also yours,” she said and turned around.

Y/n looked at the meat with conflict.

Y/n had taught them how to store food and how to keep it in good condition for a long time. She had gotten refrigerators from the kitchens and taught them how to make jerky.

But Y/n felt she didn’t have the right to the refuge’s meat.

She thought about giving it to one of the toys when an idea came to mind. So she quickly left the refuge without anyone stopping her.

Y/n watched with a smile as a group of 3 Nightmare Clitters approached at the smell of the meat Doey had given her.

She wasn’t going to take from the refuge’s supplies, but she could create her own food storage. Not too big, since most of the resources were for the refuge.

She waited for the 3 creatures to approach before activating the red gas trap, causing the toys to fall unconscious.

Y/n approached with a smile on her face and took out her kitchen knife.

“Time to skin.”

We won’t go into details, but Y/n made sure their death was quick and painless. Now they would be her food.

Now she just needed to find a place to have her storage and, if possible, a place to sleep.

There was the refuge, but she really didn’t want to sleep in a place where most people didn’t want her.

She spent her nights in the furthest part of the refuge, a place where almost nobody went. It was dark and there was nothing there; it was the best place to have privacy and where nobody would have to see her horrible employee face, but even there she couldn’t escape the scorn.

Y/n looked for a room near the refuge; it wasn’t wise to go too far away.

Finally, she found a small office. It was small, miserable, and gloomy; there would be a lot to clean and some repairs to make, but it would be enough for her alone.

Oh. If Doey finds out, he’ll be furious.

There had been some tension and great concern after they discovered that Ollie was the Prototype.

Doey and Poppy were very worried that 1006 would try to attack them. His mask was broken, putting him at a great disadvantage.

For the moment, he hadn’t done anything. She knew he was surely planning something; his silence was only a momentary and deceptive peace.

Doey and Poppy argued a lot about how they hadn’t realized Ollie was a fraud. Poppy suffered a lot from that news.

“All these years... All this time... I never really had a friend.”

She admitted she couldn’t blame Poppy about Ollie. She herself had fallen for his deceptions in her past life. And if it weren’t for her witnessing 1006 stop pretending, she would still think Ollie was an ally.

She would have to be alert and prepare the refuge for future attacks.

Y/n wiped the sweat from her forehead. She had finally finished.

She cleaned as best she could, removed debris, and made a small nest with worn-out blankets and pillows that she refused to give to the refuge.

She used the old furniture around her as a barricade, and in a corner she put a small, almost broken freezer she had found in one of the kitchens.

The freezer would need a lot of repairs, and it was the perfect size to store the meat from the 3 little creatures she had hunted. It wouldn’t fit any more.

The place was gloomy and miserable. But there, at least, she could have her own space without whispers or suspicious glances.

Maybe it could even become comfortable over time. Besides... she didn’t deserve to be part of the refuge when she was the one who destroyed everything in the first place.

She couldn’t forget what she had done in her past life.

The deaths. The screams and Doey’s despair. The death of them all...

She has to remember, she has to do it so she doesn’t get complacent.

Yn settled into her nest of broken and fluffy blankets and pillows.

She was alone, but maybe that’s what she deserved.

Chapter Text

“Where did she go?” Doey asked frustratedly. “Where’s Y/n?”

“I don’t know,” Poppy replied. “She just disappears.”

Y/n hadn’t been spending much time at the shelter lately. Whenever she arrived, she brought something or went to repair something. After that, she would check on Kissy and help her recover, then leave and not return.

They didn’t know where she went or what she did in her time away from the shelter. They knew she went for supplies, but did it really take her that long?

She showed up at least once a day to help or bring something, but then she would leave and not return until the next day.

She didn’t even sleep at the shelter and they never saw her eat or take any of the supplies they already had.

Doey sighed.

“I have to go dismantle the freezing traps that the Doctor put around,” she said. “If Y/n comes, tell her to spend the night here, okay? She can’t risk going out with the Prototype harassing us.”

“I’ll tell her,” she promised, and Doey walked away with a toolbox in her hand.

The doll turned her gaze towards the shelter entrances.

Poppy was worried about Y/n. A lot of time had passed, and she simply didn’t show up.

“I wonder what happened. Will she be alright?”

Kissy gave her a light tap to get her attention.

“What’s wrong?” Kissy pointed to the distance, towards the entrance by the infirmary.

Y/n was coming with a bag of medicine.

“Y/n!” she ran towards her. “Where were you?! I was so worried about you!”

Y/n looked at her with a cold and conflicted look.

“I’m sorry. I’ve been very busy,” she said. “But I brought medicine. I heard some are sick.”

“Oh,” Poppy looked at the bags. “Good job. We should leave them in the warehouse.”

“Sure, but...” Y/n took a breath. “Poppy, we need to talk,” the doll looked at her in surprise. “It’s very important.”

“Yes, of course. Let’s go to the back.”

Y/n knew she couldn’t put off this difficult conversation any longer. She had to make sure of everything and make Poppy see that she couldn’t hide her past from her anymore.

She wanted to yell at Poppy everything she knew, tell her she couldn’t deceive her anymore and get all the information out of her.

She wanted to threaten her, telling her she would tell everyone what she knew just to make her suffer.

But Y/n sighed deeply. Everything was so good at the shelter, Poppy was important there, and Y/n didn’t want to ruin that. She didn’t want to break the hearts of those who finally felt peace.

She didn’t want to break the hearts of Doey and Kissy.

Poppy hadn’t betrayed them in this life and worked to keep the shelter stable. She took care of Kissy and supported Doey and the other toys.

She had a lot of time to reflect on what happened in her past life. And she concluded that Poppy had only left because she felt terrified and cornered. She felt that she could only escape and there was no hope left.

Yes, Y/n understands that.

But she also understands that she’s not going to let Poppy betray them again.

She wasn’t going to let Poppy leave. And if she did... If she did... She wouldn’t leave unscathed. Not without consequences.

She didn’t want to fight. She didn’t want to make enemies, she didn’t want to make enemies. The last thing she needed was resentment in times of need.

Maybe after that conversation their relationship wouldn’t be the same again, but honestly, she didn’t care too much at that moment.

Y/n looked her firmly in the eyes.

“Poppy,” she began. “Who is the Prototype to you?”

She blinked and her body tensed.

“What?”

Y/n decided to moderate her voice. Not being aggressive, but firm and serious.

“I’ve been discovering many things lately. Some because of documents and others... because of the Prototype himself.”

“What?! Have you talked to him?”

“Rather. He talked to me.”

“What?! What did he tell you?! What...?” she paused, as if realizing she was losing her composure. “That was very dangerous, Y/n. You shouldn’t listen to what he says. He knows how to play dirty.”

“You haven’t answered my question yet,” Y/n continued. “Tell me, why are you still alive, Poppy? Why, if you are so important and a threat to 1006, why didn’t he destroy you in these 10 years you were trapped in that box?”

Poppy paused and looked at her cautiously.

“What... are you trying to tell me?”

Y/n dropped the first bomb.

“I know you’re very important to him. And everything that has happened is because of something between you and him.”

The doll swallowed and pressed her lips together.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Y/n couldn’t help but let out a sarcastic laugh. Was she really trying to hide it? She couldn’t hide anything from her anymore.

“Of course I know, Poppy. Not everything, but enough. Enough to know that the Prototype would never hurt you, that you are his perfect little doll. And enough to know that, if things get ugly again... you’ll leave.”

Silence.

Poppy trembled. Her little hands clenched into fists.

“That’s not true...”

“Isn’t it?” Y/n took a step towards her, her gaze sharp. “Because that’s exactly what you did last time, or have you already forgotten? I knew it from the whispers of the other toys.”

The air became heavier.

Poppy looked down, her lips trembled, but she said nothing. Because Y/n was right.

After the Hour of Joy, she abandoned the shelter, she left because things were very bad and she just wanted to leave. Escape.

It was a mistake. It always was and she regretted it all the time.

She betrayed everyone’s trust. Nobody really wants her in the shelter because of that.

“The Prototype wants you. I don’t know exactly in what sense. But he told me he wanted you to ‘come home’,” Poppy looked at her in horror. “And that you two have a connection you can’t ignore, because it means a lot.”

The doll took more steps back. She wanted to run, but her legs didn’t respond.

She always tried to hide this. She didn’t like the look and the way Y/n looked at her. Judging her.

“You... believe him?”

“Yes. Yes, I believe him.”

“Why do you believe him?! He’s the Prototype!”

Y/n got closer to her, getting down to her height to get closer like a threat.

“And what does that have to do with it? I believed in you despite everything you did to me.”

“What I did to you?” Poppy looked her in the eyes, fearfully.

“Have you forgotten it already?!” Y/n looked at her angrily. “You dragged me here. I’ve suffered a thousand hardships because of you. While you’re hiding in safe places, you force me to fight all the enemies and suffer for you.” Poppy remained silent. “Do you think you’re the only one who suffers? How do you think I feel being dragged to the lower floors because you’ve taken away the exits? Are you any different from the Prototype?”

Poppy looked at her indignantly.

“I’m not like him!”

“Then understand that not everything is going to be the way you want it!” Y/n replied. “You have failed the shelter and you have failed me, Poppy. You failed Doey and even Kissy. And yet you expect us all to follow your orders and pretend nothing happened?”

Poppy started to cry.

“Why are you doing this to me? Do you think I wanted this to happen?”

“No, Poppy. I doubt you want all this to happen,” she replied. “But don’t ignore the past. You can’t change it.”

Poppy looked conflicted.

“Are you going to tell the others?”

Y/n denied.

“No. I don’t think it’s a good idea. That could cause more problems.”

Poppy looked more relieved, but no less calm.

“Poppy, listen,” Y/n sighed. “I’m not your enemy. I wanted to have this conversation with you because I’m worried and to clarify some things.” Poppy moved her hands uncomfortably and looked at the floor. “Listen. You and I hate the Prototype, I know he’s a monster and I agree that we have to destroy him along with this factory and free everyone.” Poppy looked at her. “But you need to know something first.”

The doll spoke in a trembling voice.

“What is it?”

Y/n looked at her firmly.

“I will work with you and the others. I will strive to save and protect everyone in the shelter as you do.” she narrowed her eyes. “But if at any time you plan to run away again, if you abandon us again... Oh, Poppy,” she got closer to her. “I myself will hunt you down and deliver you to the Prototype.”

Poppy opened her eyes in terror and fell to the ground, looking at Y/n with great horror. As if the human in front of her were a huge snake.

“You... would hand me over?”

Y/n stood up to her full height.

“Only if you turn your back on us again,” she clarified. “But don’t worry, Poppy. I’ll make sure you don’t feel as much fear as to abandon us again.” Y/n softened her gaze and crouched down, but no longer to threaten. “I’m going to protect you, Poppy. I’ll be your friend. I won’t let the Prototype get away with it, not with them, not with you.”

“Is that true?” she began to straighten up. “Despite everything?”

Y/n nodded.

“Let’s not let this create a rift between us. We’re on the same side.” Y/n reached out her hand to her, offering to help her up. “Let’s work together and destroy that wretch.”

Poppy felt conflicted for a moment. She knew Y/n was right.

She felt exposed because now Y/n knew more than she planned. She wanted to be able to bury that past and never have to see it again, but...

Y/n closed her eyes and sighed determinedly.

It wasn’t time to doubt. Her friends needed her.

Poppy took Y/n’s hand and she helped her stand up.

“I won’t fail them this time.”

“Make sure you keep your word, Poppy.”

Y/n, to the doll’s surprise, lifted her up in her hands and put her on her shoulder, just as she saw Kissy do.

“Hey! What are you doing?” she stumbled a bit before grabbing onto Y/n’s shirt collar.

“You’re an important leader, Poppy,” she replied. “You have to see things beyond what others do. So you have to see it from a higher angle.”

Y/n started walking, returning to where the others were.

Now she had made it clear to Poppy that she wasn’t going to stand idly by if she betrayed them again. Poppy knew what she was capable of, so this warning would make her understand that it was better for her to stay and support them.

Y/n approached Kissy, who looked at them with interest at the sight of Poppy on Tn’s shoulder.

“I guess I’ll be her escort until you’re in better condition,” Y/n joked.

Kissy seemed to laugh, Y/n put Poppy down and put her next to Kissy.

Y/n left the shelter with satisfaction.

Chapter Text

Y/n sat for a moment to rest. She had managed to catch a whole herd of Nightmare Clitters that had tried to attack her. Now they would be the Refuge’s food.

Y/n hunted daily. Anyone who was against her or the refuge would be turned into food. Thanks to this, the refuge’s warehouse grew and the toys no longer went hungry.

Y/n was the provider, just as she promised Doey, with her there they would not go hungry and the refuge would have everything it needed.

The toys were recovering quickly; they had food and medicine that counteracted illnesses and injuries they might get, they had emergency generators and extra batteries, etc.

Everyone was very happy about this. But there was a small problem...

“Can you tell me where you’re going to hide? Every time I turn around you’re not there,” Doey asked with his hands on his hips, leaning slightly towards her.

“I’m going in search of supplies and eliminating enemies,” she replied, a little intimidated.

“All the time? If so, why are you so thin? Aren’t you eating? And look at those wounds,” he approached a little, but Y/n stepped back.

“Relax, it’s nothing serious, it’s just a scratch.”

“Scratches don’t leave you with bruises like those,” he said, pointing to her arm where she had an almost black mark.

“Doey, I’m really fine.”

The toy narrowed his eyes, looking at her with intrigue and impatience before turning around.

“I’ll bring you medicine and food.”

“No!” she exclaimed, stopping Doey and making him look at her impatiently.

“Why not?”

“I’m fine. Don’t use the resources on me. I can get more for myself later.”

“Why, if we have everything here?” Doey really didn’t understand her.

“Those resources are for you. You need them more.”

“Y/n,” Poppy approached, looking at her with reproach. “We have enough. Besides, you were the one who got them, so you can also take some.”

She denied. She was starting to feel cornered.

“It’s not necessary, guys,” she began to take steps back while smiling uncomfortably. “I already said I’m fine.”

Then the whispers of the toys who were watching began.

“Why doesn’t she want it?”

“Could it be that she put something in the food or is there something in the medicine?”

“I haven’t noticed anything strange, but you can’t trust an employee.”

“Remember how they used to use food against us?”

Y/n lowered her gaze. She never participated in what happened in prison and, in fact, never went down to that level. But Doey had told her about how the researchers and scientists used to work them to exhaustion and used food to force them to obey.

Y/n could understand the cause of their concerns.

Who could trust an employee?

Then, without warning, Y/n felt herself being grabbed.

“Huh? Kissy?” Y/n opened her eyes in amazement.

The pink doll took her by the wrist and gently guided her to her bed, where she sat her down next to her.

“Kissy, what are you doing?” she asked confused. But then she offered her a piece of meat. “No. No. No. Kissy, that’s for you. I can’t take your food.”

Kissy tilted her head and made puppy eyes.

Y/n couldn’t keep refusing.

She sighed in surrender and took the meat.

Y/n could refuse Doey or Poppy, but Kissy... Kissy was a different story.

In her past life, Poppy betrayed them. Doey tried to kill her. Nobody in the refuge trusted her. But Kissy was the one who tried to save her until the end.

And that made Y/n feel a deep connection towards her in a way that only she knew.

“How’s your arm, Kissy? Is it better already?” The pink one moved her still bandaged arm, but now she did it faster and without grimacing in pain. “I’m quite happy. It’s good that you’re recovering.”

Y/n was happy. She had invested many resources and time in making sure that Kissy recovered correctly.

She made sure that Kissy had the best blankets and pillows so that she could rest comfortably. She made sure she had the richest and most nutritious parts of the meat she brought. She made sure she always had the best medicines to treat her wounds and made sure she was okay.

She even got games for her to have fun and not get bored. A happy person recovers faster and better.

She could notice how everyone was looking at her with confusion and interest. Why did she care so much about Kissy?

It was something they wouldn’t understand. Not even Kissy, but she didn’t complain. Y/n spoiled her too much.

Y/n ate in silence, while Doey and Poppy approached with medicine to heal her.

“I can’t believe you listen to her the first time, but you ignore us.”

Y/n sighed embarrassed.

She was weak when it came to Kissy. And she felt that she would be her downfall.

Finally, she had gotten out of there.

Doey had insisted that she sleep and rest. But Y/n slipped away as soon as she saw an opportunity.

Doey would be so upset. Poppy would also scold her a lot.

But she couldn’t stay there. Nobody wanted her there.

Y/n lay down in her nest of old and broken blankets and pillows. It wasn’t the most comfortable, but it was better than those judging looks they gave her.

She allowed herself to have her mind blank before thinking about what else to do. The refuge had food, medicine and all kinds of supplies, the defenses have been improved and are in good condition. The generator is working well.

Everything was calm for now. But in that place, calm rarely lasts.

1006 had been quiet lately. That wasn’t good.

She hadn’t seen him in person yet, but sometimes on her excursions she heard something big walking, lurking.

1006 is intelligent. He won’t act impulsively. But he would try to attack and they had to be prepared.

Y/n had to get weapons in case the defenses failed. Because, in the worst-case scenario, if she dies, they will have to fight for themselves.

She knew that being outside the refuge was risky, there anyone could hurt her and attack her if she didn’t hide well. That’s why she tried so hard to stay hidden, in silence when she was outside the refuge, she was prepared in case someone attacked her.

It was counterproductive for her to be outside. But there she was saved from the stares and whispers, from the contempt she had earned knowing about the experiments when she worked and not having done anything to try to help them.

At least in her room, although miserable and gloomy, she had a certain freedom that she didn’t have in the refuge. The place wasn’t cozy, but it was hers and there she could be calm even if she had to be on alert in case an enemy approached.

Doey and Poppy were talking.

“Y/n escaped again,” Poppy said with a sigh.

Doey snorted in frustration.

“Where do you think she goes when she’s not here?”

“I don’t know. But I don’t think she spends all her time looking for supplies.”

“I think we’ll have to tie her up next time she comes.”

“We could tell Kissy to hug her and hold her that way. Y/n doesn’t usually resist Kissy.”

“Did you see that she brought her some sweets she found?”

“Yes. Kissy was very happy to eat something sweet.”

Y/n always spoiled Kissy and gave her the best she found.

“Doey,” Poppy called him. “I think Y/n doesn’t stay here because the others denigrate her.”

There was silence for a moment.

Finally, Doey nodded, surrendering.

Doey knew that almost nobody in the refuge really trusted Y/n. The reluctance had lessened, of course, there weren’t as many whispers as at the beginning, but that didn’t mean they didn’t still exist.

“I know that the bad reputation of having been an employee is a huge barrier between her and the toys of the refuge,” he said. “But I don’t understand why they are so engrossed in doing this to her. Y/n is our heroine, it is because of her that we are still standing, because of her the refuge is at its best.”

“Not even I, who was repudiated at the beginning, have received so much rejection.”

“It’s because you’re like us, Poppy,” Doey explained. “You’re a toy like us, you know our pain. But Y/n is human and was an employee. For them, that stains her for life and is much harder to forgive.”

It was unfair. Y/n did everything for them, and those little toys despised her in this way when it is because of her that they are still standing.

“We have to change that,” Doey said. “Their little minds haven’t realized that it’s thanks to her that they are alive and can afford so many luxuries.”

“It won’t be easy,” Poppy said, warning him.

“No, but I’m not willing to lose Y/n because of them. Even if they are my family, it was Y/n who saved them.”

Poppy nodded.

“Then, let’s go. Let’s make it clear to them that they have to stop. Even if we have to be really firm.”

Doey followed her from behind. It was time to put an end to so much contempt.

Y/n woke up feeling a little uncomfortable. Her nest would have to be molded again, every few days she had to do it so that it wouldn’t fall apart. But if we look on the bright side, she was becoming an expert at making nests.

Y/n moved, but hissed a little at her tense muscles.

She had slept late because of her new project.

Y/n went to a corner where there seemed to be a pile of junk. Only it wasn’t a pile of junk at all. There hidden were prototypes of weapons she had been creating.

Simple things like homemade pocket knives that could be used for self-defense. They were made of sharpened objects with a wooden or plastic handle where the blade could be stored and not hurt anyone.

She also had some small bombs made of chili powder that would serve as pepper spray.

The last weapon she had been working on was a kind of electric taser. She had to use several batteries and dismantle some machines to use the wires and create current.

They weren’t perfect, but they would serve to defend herself in a short physical fight with no options.

She needed to take these small weapons to the refuge and teach Doey and Poppy how they were made so that they could teach the others. Maybe they could even use an emergency electric weapon with some of the batteries if something happened to the main defenses.

She only needed to test them to see if they worked well.

Y/n smiled. It was time for the next hunt.

She didn’t have to go too far to find her victims. In the caves there were always small Nightmare Clitters who were delighted to bother her every time she went there.

The first one she saw was a small shark. This one, upon seeing the woman, launched itself to attack her, but Y/n took out the homemade knife she had made and began to attack.

It was a little complicated since the Clitter was small and she was very tall. It would be more efficient if they were both the same size. But considering that most of the refugees were small Smiling Clitters, Y/n believed that they would do better in a close-range fight with the knives.

Then she found one of those radioactive and annoying toads. With him she used the chili powder pepper spray.

This time the effect was faster. The little Nightmare Clitters began to cough and cover its eyes, visibly irritated by the chili powder.

It tried to flee, but Y/n decided to use the electric taser and the effect was immediate. It no longer moved.

Y/n smiled proudly knowing that they all worked as she wanted.

Y/n looked into the darkness of the tunnels with a murderous and terrifying malice. It was time to get more food and clear the tunnels of those little nightmares with legs.

The toys of the refuge shifted uncomfortably at the scolding of Doey and Poppy.

“You ignore her, but you eat everything she brings. You sleep on the pillows and blankets she gets. And you live comfortably while she goes through all the horrors that are outside,” Poppy said.

“Everything we have is because of Y/n’s effort. Even the death of Yarnaby and the Doctor who tormented us so much was thanks to her effort,” Doey said with an annoyed look. “Or do you think it was luck? Don’t you remember how she arrived? She was hurt and tired, but she still took the trouble to feed us Yarnaby’s meat and saved us from starving.”

“B-But... she’s an employee.”

Doey hit the floor with his foot, making everyone shut up.

“Stop saying that!”

Everyone looked at Doey with surprise. It had been a long time since anyone had looked at him so angry.

“She’s not an employee anymore! She’s our savior! How is it possible that you despise someone who sacrifices herself for you daily? Do you think you would be so comfortable right now if it weren’t for her?!”

“Y/n may have been an employee. But that doesn’t make her our enemy now,” Poppy said. “Since she arrived at the factory, she has faced our most dangerous enemies and has freed us from all of them. Do you think she would do that if she were our enemy?” She pointed at them. “She has accomplished what none of us has been able to do.”

The toys lowered their gaze uncomfortably. They knew that Doey and Poppy were right, but it’s not like they could simply trust Y/n.

All the tortures, the taunts, the death, the condescending looks. All caused by those evil employees.

It wasn’t something they could simply forget despite Y/n’s good treatment. Doey and Poppy must know it as well as they do.

The leaders sighed. They knew exactly what everyone was thinking.

“Listen... I understand perfectly,” Doey began. “But... did Y/n ever personally harm any of you?”

Everyone looked at him with surprise. What had he just said?

“Yes. Y/n was an employee. But did she ever personally hurt any of you? If so, I can understand,” he said, trying to be more empathetic. “Or do you just hate her because she once worked here?”

Nobody could answer anything.

Yes. Y/n knew about the experiments but... none of them remembered her personally hurting them.

In fact, until the day she arrived at the refuge practically nobody knew her. They only knew that she was an employee and that was enough for them.

Thinking about it that way, it now sounded much worse than they thought.

It didn’t feel good at all.

“Zeus~!,” Y/n’s voice was heard approaching. “I’m home, baby~!”

Okay? Y/n sounded much happier than in many days.

“Speaking of the queen of Rome.”

Everyone turned around. It seems that by talking about her, they ended up invoking her.

Y/n arrived with some scratches and bruises on her face and body, but with a huge smile on her face.

“Are you having a board meeting or a motivational talk?” she asked when she saw that everyone was gathered. “Well, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I brought more supplies,” she approached Doey and handed him the cart full of food.

Doey and Poppy gave her a soft look, grateful to her.

“Thank you for bringing us this, Y/n. I’m sure everyone thanks you for always bringing something to eat,” Doey said and then looked towards the crowd with a complicit look.

The toys reacted quickly. More to avoid Doey’s fury than anything else.

“Yes. Yes.”

“What he said.”

“Thank you for the food.”

Y/n looked at them strangely, but ignored it and looked again at Doey and Poppy without erasing her smile.

“I have something for you.”

“Oh yeah?”

Y/n nodded and took out the homemade weapons she had made.

“What’s that?” Poppy asked.

Y/n smiled proudly and showed the weapons like a television model.

“These, my dear Poppy, are weapons I’ve made for self-defense for each of you.”

“Weapons?” everyone opened their eyes in surprise.

“Uh-huh. I was thinking that, if some kind of failure in the defenses were to occur, or if we were to have some kind of hand-to-hand confrontation, then it would be a good idea to have some weapons to defend ourselves.”

Taking advantage of the fact that everyone was there, Y/n began to explain what each weapon consisted of, what it was made of and how to use it correctly.

Everyone was paying too much attention and that helped everyone understand the instructions.

In the end, Y/n began to distribute some of the weapons to everyone and asked Doey and Poppy to meet with her later to teach them how to make more.

Y/n stayed longer than usual in the refuge that time. And yet, Y/n didn’t hear a single whisper against her.

Y/n was preparing a hot meal for everyone, meanwhile, she was thinking that things were getting very strange in the refuge.

They no longer whispered against her as was customary. They looked at her, but no longer with suspicion or as if she were an enemy. And she had been noticing that some seemed to be more open to being close to her.

“Are they sick?” she wondered silently.

Doey and Poppy had also tried to get her to spend much more time in the refuge and even used Kissy to convince her. Which was playing dirty if you asked her.

“Dinner is ready!” she said, coming out with a huge pot. “Line up with your plates and I’ll serve you.”

The toys approached, the meat had a slight spicy smell for some reason. But nobody took the first step to ask for food.

They seemed undecided and Y/n only sighed, thinking of asking Doey or Poppy for help and withdrawing herself.

But then a figure made its way and walked towards her with confidence. It was Kissy, who without fear or doubts, approached Y/n and extended her plate towards her.

Y/n smiled with bright eyes when she saw her. She could always trust Kissy.

“Here you go, Kissy,” she said with a smile, making sure to serve her a very good portion.

After that, more toys approached and timidly asked.

Doey and Poppy watched from afar. It seemed that there was still some discomfort, but things were improving.

However, despite their efforts, they couldn’t prevent Y/n from sneaking back to the exit and leaving the refuge.

But this time it was different.

Because this time, Y/n seemed to disappear.

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Several days had passed, and Y/n hadn’t returned. It was normal for Y/n to be out for a full day, but this was excessive. Y/n always came back, at least once a day, to show she was still alive. Her silence now put everyone on high alert.

“Y/n hasn’t returned,” Poppy said, looking towards one of the exits. “I wonder what happened.”

“Something bad, no doubt. Y/n never stays away for too long,” Doey said beside her.

“Do you think... the Prototype captured her?” she asked, terrified.

Unfortunately, that was a strong possibility, especially for Y/n, who had demonstrated more than once the danger she represented to him and his tyrannical plans. She had closed the doors to the team when she was impersonating Ollie, ruined his plans to manipulate and destroy the shelter, and exposed him to the others, causing his expulsion and distancing him from Poppy.

Y/n became his sworn enemy, and 1006 would do anything to destroy her.

A justified fear began to settle in their hearts.

“I’m going to look for her,” Doey said. “Stay here and make sure you have a bed and medicine ready for Y/n.”

Poppy nodded.

“Be very careful, Doey. And please, bring Y/n back safe.”

Doey looked at her with determination before leaving.

“I will.”

“Where did she go?”

He had searched everywhere, every corner of the tunnels, the farthest rooms of the shelter, the garbage dump, the prison, even the elevator in case Y/n had gone to the upper floors, but the elevator was there, and it was clear that nobody had used it in a while.

Fear crept into his chest, stronger and deeper. He couldn’t find her; it was as if she had simply disappeared, as if the earth had swallowed her whole.

“Y/n!” he shouted desperately, but no one answered.

He retraced his steps, searching a second time in case he had missed a spot, but to no avail.

He couldn’t find her.

What could have happened to her?

Where is she?

Did the Prototype really find her?

What would they do if that were the case?

What would happen to her? What would happen to them?

Or did she get tired of the others treating her with indifference and simply leave?

No. The elevator clearly hadn’t been used for a while. And if she had wanted to leave, she would have had to use the elevator.

Where is she? Is she alright? Did she go on an especially long mission?

It was getting late, and Doey had to return to the shelter and tell Poppy and the others the horrible news. Y/n was missing, and they would have to go look for her.

Doey was thinking about all these things when, suddenly, down a hallway not far from the shelter, he saw a closed door, very discreet and usually overlooked, but now that Doey was in eagle-eye mode, he could see it clearly.

He didn’t remember having checked that place before, so he hurried to see if Y/n was there.

He had to use some force to open the door, which seemed blocked by something heavy; that meant someone must be hiding there. He was prepared in case an enemy appeared, but to his relief, surprise, Y/n was there.

“Y/N!” he exclaimed, relieved.

He was about to go, hug her, and at the same time reprimand her for worrying him. But as he got closer, his relief turned to horror.

Y/n was lying down, unconscious, and her clothes were covered in blood on her torso.

“But what...? Y/N!” he ran and knelt beside her.

Y/n was burning with fever. Doey checked her wounds and saw that they had been forced to heal by fire.

She... had cauterized herself.

Next to her was a bottle of pills, antibiotics to fight any infection.

There were a lot of bruises, cuts, and scars visible.

Who had done this to her? How long had she had them?

Had the Prototype caught her and done this to her?

No. This was old; these wounds were old and accompanied the new ones.

Why didn’t she ever say anything?

Doey quickly realized. It was because Y/n thought she wouldn’t get help, that’s why she endured everything alone. Something obviously went wrong on her last outing if she was in this condition.

He looked around. It seemed he had found Y/n’s hiding place. It wasn’t very dirty, but it was a miserable, small, and gloomy hole. Y/n was on a poorly made nest with torn and worn blankets.

Did she prefer to be here than in the comfort of the shelter? Here, where anyone could attack her?

No wonder she always looked so tired.

Y/n self-exiled herself from the shelter because the others treated her badly. That’s why she didn’t come back when she was done with these wounds; she never thought they wouldn’t help her.

Doey clenched his jaw in fury and worry.

How could she do this to herself?

How long had she been in this state? Y/n hadn’t returned to the shelter for days; did that mean that all that time Y/n had been enduring all this pain alone?

Doey was so angry.

How dare she worry him like this?

He always told her she could stay at the shelter, and although he understands why she didn’t want to be there, she didn’t have to torture herself like this.

Oh, as soon as she woke up, he would undoubtedly make sure to lecture her until her ears fell off.

Decided, but very carefully, Doey lifted her gently into his arms.

Y/n frowned, but didn’t wake up. She was suffering, but still unconscious.

Doey carried her out of that dilapidated room, determined to take her to the shelter and tie her to a bed if necessary to take care of her properly.

Y/n always took care of them, so he would return the favor as she deserved.

Of course, he couldn’t let Y/n return to this room. So he didn’t mind hitting one of the walls hard and causing the whole room to collapse.

Everyone looked on in horror when Doey arrived with a half-dead and terribly injured Y/n in his arms.

Poppy screamed as soon as she saw her.

“Y/n!” she approached quickly. “Oh... What happened to her? Where did you find her?”

“First, we need to get her to a bed, and then I’ll tell you the rest.”

“Of course. This way,” Poppy guided him to the prepared bed. They weren’t wrong when they thought she would be injured.

“She was in a horrible room that looked like a vagrant’s room. Apparently, that’s where she was hiding,” he explained as he carefully laid her on the bed.

“What? You're kidding.”

“I wish I were kidding right now,” he said. “Pass me the alcohol and bandages. She’s terribly injured and has a cauterized wound on her abdomen.”

“What?! She what?!”

Kissy peeked in, her worried gaze as she approached the terribly injured human lying down.

The pink one let out a moan of surprise and horror at seeing her in that state.

The wounds were all over her body; many were old, but others were new and deep. There were so many bruises that in certain places you couldn’t see where the bruises began and where the skin began.

Whoever attacked her had no mercy on her.

Kissy came to help; she can already move her hands. She can’t bear to see Tn in this state.

Doey and Poppy gladly received her. They would need several hands to help Tn.

Doey began to tell how he found her and what he had discovered on his little visit to that gloomy room.

“I don’t understand. Why didn’t she come here when she was hurt?”

“I think we know very well why,” they turned and saw the other toys peeking through the door.

Everyone knew. Even them. It was because of their indifference that Tn felt it was better to stay in that hole than to ask for help.

Doey looked at them with great annoyance.

“Now you understand?”

The toys took a step back at his accusatory gaze.

“Are you happy with what happened to Y/n? Was this what you wanted?!”

They denied it, looking in horror at the human’s state. Was this their fault?

“You better behave yourselves from now on. Y/n is our heroine, and because of you, she almost died.”

Some started to want to cry.

Poppy stepped forward.

“If any of you are ever so ungrateful to her again, we’ll make sure you remember what it was like to live before without her.”

Kissy looked at them disapprovingly, but returned her attention to the human and held her hand.

Y/n didn’t know it. But being sick wouldn’t save her from her friends’ indignation.

And this time, they wouldn’t let her get away with it.

Y/n felt as if a meteorite had fallen on her. She felt worse than when she crashed in the train.

Her whole body ached, her abdomen burned, and her head was throbbing with pain.

She let out a groan of pain and opened her eyes slightly, seeing Doey, Poppy, and Kissy looking at her.

Y/n opened her eyes in surprise, tried to sit up; what were they doing there? But Doey gently made her lie down. She didn’t have enough strength to work.

“Stay still. You’re still recovering,” he said calmly, but with a frown.

“How...?” she groaned again when she felt her throat dry and sore.

“I found you in that pigsty where you were hiding from us. Was that where you were sleeping? No wonder you always looked tired.”

“My... house...”

“It’s not anymore,” Doey smiled. “I destroyed everything. You won’t be able to go back there.”

“What?! D-Doey!” she regretted raising her voice when her throat hurt again.

Kissy quickly approached and offered her water. Y/n tried to take it, but her hand refused to exert any kind of force. So Kissy helped her drink it.

Her throat felt better.

“Thank you, Kissy,” she said before turning her gaze to the clay being. “Why... did you destroy my room?”

“That thing wasn’t a room,” he pointed around. “This is your new room.”

Y/n slowly looked around, making sure not to move her head too quickly. The dizziness was killing her.

She was on one of the mattresses she had provided. She had soft pillows and blankets covering her.

“Doey...”

“Shh!” he silenced her by putting a finger to her lips and looked at her with a look that didn’t allow objections.

Y/n felt very bad. Her head was spinning. She already knew that feeling; she was about to faint again.

“Y/n, just let us take care of you,” Poppy said, but she could barely hear her.

She felt Kissy stroking her hair.

“Sleep, Y/n. You’re in terrible condition. You’ll be alright.”

Will she be alright?

Y/n couldn’t think much because she fell unconscious again.

The following days got worse. Y/n was very bad, very bad indeed.

For a week, Y/n was practically unconscious. They had to help her even to eat because the woman’s body refused to exert any kind of force.

The wounds were horrible and deep all over her body. They couldn’t understand how someone could endure so much pain and still smile at them and tell them everything was fine.

“How dare she lie to us so blatantly saying she was fine? Look at those huge scars,” Poppy said, pointing to some that were visible.

“I’m not going to let her do it again. This woman won’t get up until she’s brand new,” Doey said, changing some of her bandages.

Y/n began to murmur.

“Not... enough...”

Besides the fact that her body had given up on forcing itself, leaving her like a rag doll, the worst were Y/n’s delirious ramblings due to the fever.

Y/n mumbled things that often no one could understand, or things that made no sense.

“Everyone... dead... Not enough... food...”

Doey approached.

“There is.”

“No... I must go...” she replied deliriously.

“There are enough supplies for two months, Y/n. Do you understand? You don’t have to get out of this bed for at least a month.”

“No... No, no, no...” she seemed so scared. No one knew what was going through her mind.

Y/n murmured lamentations about their deaths, about the prototype, and about endless struggles. She spoke of things that never happened, but that seemed to terrify her.

Her fever wouldn’t go away, and although the medication worked and helped, it seemed that finally the woman’s body and mind had said: Enough.

The times she was conscious enough, Doey, Poppy, or Kissy were close and took care of her.

She couldn’t move, she couldn’t get up or say anything.

But not everything was bad. Thanks to her condition, the other toys who had once judged her now began to worry about her.

What if she doesn’t recover? She had wounds that made them shudder just looking at her.

How can she endure so much physical and mental pain and suffering?

It was terrifying and painful to simply hear her babble incoherently, making them tremble. She didn’t cry, but her lamentations made them tremble.

How can someone live with so much suffering?

Doey and Poppy’s words came to them.

Was this their fault? Is it their fault that she’s like this, because they didn’t want to accept her?

The remorse was very strong. They didn’t want to see Tn this way. So they started to help.

They took turns taking care of Y/n and letting the leaders (Doey, Poppy, and Kissy) rest. They helped keep Y/n hydrated and tried to comfort her when she was delirious.

They were very difficult times for everyone, but everyone was united.

But then, one day Y/n opened her eyes suddenly. She was burning with fever again; her head hurt, her body too.

She looked around.

Where was she? She didn’t recognize the place.

She looked around in alarm. There were several Smiling Clitters around her.

Those... Those little cannibals who killed Dogday.

“Y/n. Are you alright?”

The woman turned; Doey was in front of her, Poppy peeked into the room, and more toys with her. But she didn’t recognize them.

Y/n felt terror. She was in a nest.

Those monsters were going to kill her.

“No. No. No. No. No. No.”

Y/n jumped up, grabbed the bed she was lying on, and threw it at the monsters; however, the biggest monster stopped it.

“Y/n, what’s wrong with you?! Why did you do that?”

The woman ran. She had to survive and get away from that place.

“Y/n!” someone shouted.

Y/n quickly found the exit and ran towards it. There were many more of the little cannibals in that place. How did she get there?

It didn’t matter; first, she had to survive.

Finally, she found the exit and ran outside. But the monsters’ footsteps were chasing her.

“Y/n! Stop! You’re delirious with fever! You’re going to hurt yourself!”

They were going to kill her. They were going to kill her.

She had to survive.

However, she reached a dead end.

“No...” her terror increased.

She would have to fight. So she turned around with her fists raised. She didn’t know where her Grabpack was, but she would use her stubborn determination to kill anyone who wanted to lay a hand on her.

The monsters appeared in seconds. Seeing Y/n in an aggressive defensive position, they stopped.

They knew Y/n was delirious from her fever. She didn’t seem to recognize them and was surely terrified, but they couldn’t leave her in that state; they couldn’t let her run off where anyone could take advantage of her condition.

“Y/n,” Doey spoke, raising his hands in a sign of peace. “Calm down. We’re not going to hurt you.”

“Lie,” Y/n said with hatred. “Everyone wants to hurt me.”

“That’s not true. We’re your friends,” Poppy tried to convince her.

“Liar! The gentle voices lie! You lie!” She looked at them with distrustful eyes. “Can’t trust anyone!”

Everyone looked at her in surprise. What had happened for her to think like that?

Y/n was ready to defend herself to the death. But as she watched the distance between them, she saw something that altered her with a different horror.

A pink stain. Kissy Missy.

Y/n worried.

What was she doing there?

She shouldn’t be there.

Kissy is good.

She’s her only friend.

The monsters will kill her.

She can’t let Kissy suffer again.

She has to save her.

She quickly lunged at them; they moved aside when they saw her coming with great hatred, but instead of fighting, Y/n stood in front of Kissy and protected her as best she could with her small body.

“Kissy, you have to go!” she said, looking at the others with warning.

Everyone looked at them in surprise. Did she recognize Kissy even in her delirious state?

“You have to escape. I’ll distract them. Save yourself!”

Kissy looked at her in surprise. They think she’s in danger... and she’s willing to sacrifice herself for her?

“Come on, Kissy. They’ll kill you.”

Everyone looked at her in horror.

“If they get close, I’ll kill them. I’ll kill them all. Don’t you dare touch Kissy!”

Her vision was starting to blur, but still...

Kissy hugged her from behind, trying to gently calm her.

Y/n seemed surprised for a moment.

“Your arm... it’s alright,” Y/n said, seeing that the natural color of Kissy’s arm was turning pink again. “You’re alright... I’m so happy.”

And she fainted.

Everyone was silent. What are they supposed to say about what just happened?

Kissy carried Y/n and held her in her arms carefully, looking at her with affection and growing confidence.

Y/n, even in her delirium, recognized her. And thinking she was in danger, she was willing to fight everyone and die just to protect her.

She didn’t know how she came to hold her in such high esteem. But she was deeply grateful.

Doey approached and looked at Y/n in her arms.

“Let’s go home. Y/n still isn’t recovering.”

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Y/n woke up a few days later. She felt much better; her fever had subsided, and her bandages were freshly changed, although the cauterized wound still burned in her abdomen, but it was bearable.

Y/n sat up; her body felt strange and heavy. But there was something else. When she looked down, she saw Kissy there, beside her, asleep and hugging her.

She looked healthy. The parts of her that had been injured and burned had returned to their normal color, and there were no more bandages. Y/n felt very happy. Kissy was fine.

She wasn’t sure how long she had been asleep or what she had done. She had had many long nightmares, but now she felt relieved to see that it was all over.

Y/n sighed in relief. Then she saw that not only Kissy was with her in her bed.

There was a little Bobby on her lap; she was starting to wake up at the woman’s movement.

“Oh, hey. Did I wake you?” Y/n adjusted her. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to bother you.”

The little bear saw her and seemed excited to see her awake.

“You woke up!”

“Yes... Do you know how long I’ve been asleep?” But the little bear didn’t answer her; instead, she jumped out of bed and ran outside.

Y/n felt a little disappointed, but it wasn’t anything she wasn’t used to.

She stretched her arms and body. She sighed contentedly and got out of bed, making sure to tuck Kissy in well. She was hungry.

However, she didn’t have time to go out or walk much because the little bear returned, this time with Doey and Poppy behind her. When they entered, she pointed at Y/n, and they looked at her in amazement.

“Y/n”

“You woke up”

The woman looked at them with a smile.

“Hey. How are you?” she greeted. “Do you know how long I was asleep?”

“Y/n!” they exclaimed and ran towards her, hugging her.

Poppy hugged her leg, and Doey lifted her and spun her around for a moment before putting her down.

“Oh. I’m sorry. Are you okay?” Doey asked, remembering the wounds she had.

“I’m fine. My stomach hurts a little from the cauterization, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.”

“Why are you up?” this time Poppy asked.

Y/n looked at her strangely.

“I was going to get something to eat.”

Doey smiled and clapped her hands together.

“Perfect. I’ll go get some for you. Kissy, make sure she stays in her bed,” she said and turned around.

“What?” Then she felt Kissy’s unmistakable hands grab her from behind, gently guiding her to sit back down on the bed. “Oh, Kissy. Did I wake you? I’m sorry.”

Kissy hugged her with her long hands, enveloping her and smiling contentedly.

“Kissy was very worried about you when you fainted,” Poppy told her. “We were all very worried about you.”

“That seems so,” Y/n said, patting Kissy’s furry, soft hands affectionately. “How long was I asleep?”

“I think the right question is: How long were you out of it?” she corrected and then answered. “You were like that for three and a half weeks.”

Y/n almost choked on her own saliva.

“What?!”

Y/n’s mind went into a mess.

Three and a half weeks was a long time. Too long.

How much food was left?

How many supplies were there?

Were the repairs and maintenance in order?

Had they been attacked while she was unconscious and useless? Many times the shelter suffered attacks from enemies.

She had been unconscious for too long. There must be so much to do.

Poppy brought her out of her thoughts when she saw Y/n’s expression.

“Hey. Hey. Calm down. Everything is fine.”

“No. No. No. No. No. Why didn’t you wake me? There must be so many things to do. The food. The supplies. The shelter’s defenses.”

“Everything is fine, Y/n,” Poppy tried to reassure her. “We’re all fine.”

“But...”

“The shelter is in excellent condition,” Doey said, bringing a plate of food in her hands. Her gaze was calm. “Thanks to the improvements you made and your continuous hunts, the shelter is at its best,” she sat beside her. “In fact, there was no better time for you to get sick. Everything is wonderful.”

Y/n looked at him bewildered.

“Doey, but there must be many things...” Doey silenced her by putting a piece of meat in her mouth.

“Eat more and talk less. We’re all fine. There’s nothing to worry about. There are enough supplies for another month.”

Y/n wanted to continue arguing, but as she tasted the meat, her mouth began to chew it carelessly. She was so hungry.

Doey extended the plate of food to her.

“We couldn’t feed you much when you were out of it. So eat what you need,” she explained.

Y/n continued eating without saying anything. They all looked at her contentedly as she ate.

After almost four weeks of agony and suffering, Y/n looked very well. There were no dark circles under her eyes, she responded well and didn’t delirious, she no longer had a fever, and she could support herself.

She was malnourished and thin, but that could be fixed now that she had regained consciousness.

The plate was emptied quickly. Y/n was very satisfied, and her body felt lighter now.

“I’m glad you’re feeling better, Y/n...” Doey said and put a hand on her shoulder; Kissy tightened her hug on her, and Poppy gave her a falsely innocent smile. Y/n tensed. “...because we’re not going to let you get out of this bed until you’ve fully recovered.”

Yes. She knew this would happen. She was naive to think she had already gotten away.

Something must have happened while she was unconscious because what was happening wasn’t normal.

“When they said they wouldn’t let me get up, I didn’t think they were part of the equation either,” she thought, lying down and looking at the ceiling while about five Smiling Clitters were scattered and cuddled on her body, preventing her from getting up.

They looked quite comfortable being with someone who didn’t like them.

Y/n didn’t know what was going on, but since she woke up, all the little toys in the shelter started to approach her and spend time with her, using her as a kind of bed or armchair to cuddle on.

It wasn’t that she minded them doing it, but she felt useless doing nothing. She was fine, she felt good, she could help, but Doey, Poppy, and Kissy kept her under constant surveillance.

And that wasn’t fair. She wasn’t a prisoner.

“This is a kidnapping,” she complained as Kissy hugged her from behind with a very comfortable Kickin on her lap.

“It’s loving confinement,” Poppy said, smiling.

Y/n gave her a betrayed look.

“You’re not sympathizing with me!”

Doey extended a plate of food. They had been feeding her a lot lately.

“Eat and stop complaining. The faster you recover, the faster you can get out of that bed.”

Y/n looked at him indignantly.

“You’re giving me a lot of food. I’m starting to think you want to fatten me up to eat me later.”

“We’d never do that, pal,” Doey stroked her head, with an expression that suggested she was happy that she finally obeyed.

They were all behaving very strangely.

What had happened while she was unconscious?

“What’s wrong with these people?!” Y/n exclaimed, trying to get out, but with several Smiling Clitters and Huggies on her, preventing her. “I’m just going to get more food.”

But the little ones didn’t listen to her and doubled their efforts to make her stay.

Y/n didn’t understand what was happening to them. But since she woke up, all the little toys in the shelter were scrambling to be near her and wouldn’t let her go anywhere.

They literally threw themselves at her whenever she was near an exit. Y/n could handle a few, but now she had about a dozen on her (and they were definitely heavier than when she first arrived).

"Let me go!"

"Noooo"

"Why not?"

"Noooo"

"Don’t let her go!"

"Hold her!"

Y/n couldn’t believe this. Before they ignored her, and now they were the shelter’s security guards.

After struggling for five minutes, she realized it was useless, so she simply stopped struggling. She simply rested her head on the cold floor with a resigned face.

Then Kissy came and carried her along with all the toys on top of her and moved her away from the exits.

Y/n felt strangely betrayed to see Kissy participating in not letting her leave. But Kissy was so cute that she simply couldn’t get angry with her.

They returned to the beds, and there Kissy cuddled with her and the other toys that settled on Y/n’s body.

“Guys. Please. I’m not sick anymore, I feel good. Let me go!”

They shook their heads.

“No, no, no, no”

“No, no, no”

“Noooo”

Y/n sighed and looked around.

“Where did Doey and Poppy go?”

“We’re here!”

Everyone looked up to see them arrive. Doey was carrying one of the mining carts with Poppy on his shoulder. Both seemed very satisfied with something.

“Where were you? What do you have there?” Y/n asked. Doey and Poppy didn’t usually leave the shelter much.

Doey and Poppy looked at each other knowingly.

“Well. Since you’re sick...”

“I’m not sick,” she said, but they ignored her.

“...we decided that we would go get more food.”

Y/n looked at them surprised.

“You went for food?”

“Uh-huh,” they nodded proudly.

Doey showed the cart, and they could see that it was full of meat.

“We followed your hunting instructions that you gave us when you were teaching us to be self-sufficient,” Poppy said. “It was wonderful. I distracted them, and Doey crushed them.”

Doey struck strong-guy poses. Y/n couldn’t help but smile.

“So... you’re self-sufficient now?”

“We already were. It’s just that you insisted on doing everything yourself,” Doey explained.

“But we were able to take control when you arrived half-dead and could no longer be so stubborn.”

“Are you telling me I was a hindrance to you?” Y/n looked at them with narrowed eyes.

“Oh, no! Of course not!”

“You were never a hindrance, pal.”

“We just wanted you to know that you don’t need to do everything. We can also help a lot.”

“Unfortunately, we can’t let you spoil us. Although we could enjoy it for a while.”

Y/n sighed in resignation and relief.

They didn’t need them to get food anymore.

Y/n, after waking up and as soon as she could stand without being dragged back to bed, walked around the shelter to see if there was anything to repair, but everything was in perfect condition.

The food was stored. The showers worked well, the generator was working correctly, and the shelter’s defenses were strong. There was water, light, and everything was in perfect order.

With all this, Y/n realized how little they needed her now.

They were now self-sufficient.

Y/n had given them all the necessary information, training, and materials, so they could take care of everything now. That made her feel quite relieved and at the same time... sad.

Maybe this was enough to pay for her past mistakes...

No. It wasn’t enough yet. There was still something else to do.

She needed to get them out of there, but it would be quite dangerous with the Prototype lurking.

She needed to get them out of there; she needed to save them all.

There was still much to do, but she would achieve it.

But first, she needed to get out of the shelter without any stampede of small or large toys throwing themselves at her.

The following days Y/n seemed quite pensive, although she kept trying to escape.

Obviously, they didn’t let her.

Y/n first tried to leave quietly, but suddenly she felt something fall on her.

“Where are you going?” it was Poppy on her shoulder.

“What? How did you get there?”

“I’m the one asking the questions,” Poppy laughed amusedly. “Were you planning to escape?”

“It depends. Am I a prisoner?”

“No”

“Then I wasn’t escaping.”

“You know what I mean!”

“Poppy, I need to get out.”

“Where to?”

“I need to create a map.”

“A map? We have one in the generator room.”

“What? And why didn’t you ever tell me?”

“It didn’t seem like you needed it much. You move around like you know the place.”

Y/n looked at her with a sigh.

“Could you give me that map? I need it.”

“Sure, let’s go,” she said and pointed towards the inside of the shelter.

“You’re not planning to get down, are you?” she asked, starting to walk.

“Not until I make sure you’re not planning to leave. Otherwise, I’m going to accompany you everywhere.”

Y/n sighed.

“Okay. Okay.”

After reading the map, she tried to leave several more times...

Y/n got up; she had already eaten and wanted to leave, but some furry arms caught her and pulled her towards a body.

Y/n knew who she was immediately.

“Kissy, don’t betray me!” Y/n exclaimed, trying to get out of her powerful grip.

Kissy just gave her an innocent look that she didn’t know what she was talking about and rested her head on hers.

Y/n simply leaned on her and sighed. Kissy was too powerful and cute to deny her in this way.

Finally, she tried to leave one last time when she saw that no one was there. She had waited patiently until she saw that no one could stop her, so she ran as silently as possible...

Then some enormous clay hands grabbed her and quickly pulled her back in one swift motion.

Suddenly, she found herself dancing with Doey, who was guiding her into the shelter.

“Doey!” she exclaimed indignantly.

“What? I just wanted to dance with you.”

“Let me go!”

“Nu-uh,” he denied and spun her around suddenly, making her scream.

“Doey!”

“You can’t leave. We’re doing a dance in your honor.”

Finally, Y/n gave up on leaving the shelter... For now.

But what she didn’t know is that they didn’t let her leave not only because she hadn’t fully recovered but because...

“Y/n is sleepwalking again,” a little Bubba told Doey.

He quickly got up and followed the little Bubba to where Y/n was. She was walking with a lost look and muttering things.

She was trying to leave; the others were trying to stop her until Doey arrived.

“Don’t hold her, let her pass,” Doey ordered.

They obeyed and let Y/n pass and leave the shelter. They had learned that if they held her in this sleepwalking state, Y/n would get upset as if she were scared of something and would fight without hesitation.

But she wasn’t doing it to hurt them; it was because she seemed to feel that something had trapped her. So they simply let her walk, and someone accompanied her.

Y/n had been sleepwalking since Doey rescued her.

“Whose turn is it today?” Kissy raised her hand and immediately went after Y/n.

“Don’t let her go too far, Kissy,” Poppy said.

She nodded and easily placed herself beside Y/n to take this little nocturnal walk that Y/n never remembered.

The woman walked as if she were lost and scared at the same time.

“He’s here... He’s always been here...” she murmured, looking around. “...you have to be careful, Kissy.”

Kissy just nodded. Despite being in this trance-like state, Y/n still recognized her every time she appeared. She was also the only one she didn’t get aggressive with if she grabbed her, but they discovered that letting Y/n take these walks helped her calm down.

“...I thought he was dead. But he was the one who killed me... He almost did it again.”

Kissy tilted her head confused. Y/n always talked about this. About the creature that left her in such bad shape when Doey found her with her cauterized stomach, but she never said his name.

“The first time I saw you, I thought you were him...”

Kissy’s eyes widened. She wouldn’t be talking about...

“...Huggy was so angry when he saw me...” she shuddered and hugged herself, scared. “...he was so close.”

Kissy looked at her without smiling this time.

She couldn’t believe it...

Huggy... Huggy Wuggy?

But... He was dead, wasn’t he?

“...He caught me... He caught me again...” Y/n trembled as if she had seen her life flash before her eyes. “...but this time I managed to escape in time. In time... Barely.”

Kissy couldn’t believe it.

Chapter Text

Everyone seemed to be whispering, but it wasn’t like the scornful whispers that used to follow her. They were different, worried, and... she wasn’t sure if they were exactly directed at her.

Kissy also seemed affected by something. Her smile was forced and sometimes even disappeared. Everyone seemed to know something except her.

She didn’t understand what was happening.

But everything became clear when Doey and Poppy called her to the generator room to talk privately. They seemed worried.

“Y/n, we need to talk to you,” Poppy was the first to speak. “And we need you to be honest with us.”

Y/n felt nervous despite having done nothing wrong. But when they said the words “We need to talk,” the woman knew it couldn’t be anything good.

They weren’t looking at her with distrust; it was more like they were about to give her bad news.

“Guys, what’s going on? Everyone’s acting strange, and I really don’t know if something bad is happening.”

Doey and Poppy looked at each other for a moment and then spoke.

It was time for her to know.

“Y/n,” Doey began. “Since I found you injured in that gloomy hole where you were sleeping, things have been happening that you should know about.”

“What? What’s going on?”

Doey took a breath.

“You’ve been sleepwalking since that day.”

Y/n’s eyes widened. Sleepwalking?

Being a sleepwalker wasn’t a bad thing, but in that place, it was quite dangerous. You never knew where you’d end up if you wandered too far.

“At first, you weren’t walking, of course, you were too injured to do so. But now you do it practically every night.”

“What? Seriously?” They nodded. “But why didn’t you tell me before?”

“We thought you’d be fine soon, when you recovered. But the truth is, it hasn’t disappeared,” Poppy replied. “You always walk and seem very scared.”

“And that’s what we want to talk to you about, because in your sleepwalking... without fail, you always talk about the same thing, about the creature that attacked you and left you in the state I found you in.”

Y/n swallowed, barely avoiding taking a step back. Her body began to tremble.

“Y/n,” they looked at her cautiously. “Why didn’t you tell us that Huggy was still alive?”

Y/n moaned in fear and recoiled, looking at the two as if she were cornered, as if they were the ones who would hurt her this time.

Her whole body trembled, and her memories went back to the time she died in her past life. And then, when she found him in this life.

Or rather, he found her.

Y/n had been looking for more supplies when something large seemed to approach; the floor trembled slightly, and there was a noise that Y/n found terribly familiar.

When she turned around, he was already too close. She couldn’t dodge him.

Y/n flew out and crashed against a concrete wall. She couldn’t even get up when Huggy lunged at her again.

He was so angry, with that huge smile of “I’m going to kill you, miserable trash.”

He hit her, threw her from side to side, tried to bite her. Y/n never thought Huggy’s hands could be so sharp until he tried to split her in half.

Y/n remembered the sharp pain, burning in her abdomen. It was so painful.

She barely managed to escape; she only succeeded because she threw one of those chili bombs in his face and was able to run while he coughed behind her, trying to remove the chili powder from his face.

She hadn’t planned to find him. She wasn’t prepared.

She was so close to dying again that... she panicked. She felt as helpless as in her past life and remembered crying all the way to her room where she used the flare gun from her Grabpack to cauterize her wounds, as she was losing too much blood.

She took a bottle of antibiotic pills and fell asleep. She was too weak and... she didn’t want to go to the shelter because she didn’t want to be surrounded by those who hated her.

She already felt too miserable by herself, so she didn’t need to feel more despised.

She hadn’t planned to say anything because she planned to kill Huggy before the others found out. That’s why she wanted to leave the shelter as soon as she was well; she had to prepare to defeat Huggy.

But they wouldn’t let her leave.

Until now, it seemed that no one had seen him, and that was suspicious. Every day, Y/n was more and more worried that one day he would attack the shelter and she wouldn’t be able to do anything.

Seeing her expression, Doey and Poppy tried to calm her down.

“Calm down, we’re not angry. But we can’t understand why you hid it from us.”

“You almost died because of him. We’re just worried.”

Y/n started to cry involuntarily; the memories came, and so did the fear.

“Calm down,” Doey said, approaching slowly. Y/n didn’t move, but she closed her eyes when he touched her and slowly hugged her. “It’s okay. There’s no need to cry.”

They had to wait a moment until she calmed down to be able to talk again. This time, Y/n didn’t hide anything from them; she told them everything.

She told them how he suddenly appeared, how he hurt her, and what she had to do to survive.

“I planned to go kill him once I recovered... But you won’t let me leave,” she complained.

“And even less reason are we going to let you go out there with that thing,” Doey said.

“What?! Why?”

“It’s obvious that Huggy has something against you and will undoubtedly want to tear you to pieces,” Poppy replied. “How do you think we’re going to let you go and let you face him when you’re sick?”

“I’m not sick! I feel fine,” she complained. “Besides, weren’t you the one who sent me with Catnap when I had just crashed on the train?”

Poppy looked at her indignantly, but before she could protest, the alarms sounded.

They were being attacked.

The beast’s scream revealed who it was.

“We summoned the unfortunate one,” Doey said, but he had to turn his gaze to Y/n when he felt her trembling. “Y/n?”

The woman had a look of panic in her eyes. Her body had paralyzed, and her mind only remembered the day of her death.

She remembered the sound of her bones breaking, the teeth sinking into her, and how he began to devour her alive.

Now Huggy had found them and was attacking them. He knew she was there and would go after her to finish killing her.

“We have to get rid of Huggy. He’s nothing but a hindrance to our plans,” Poppy said. “I’ll go get Kissy to help.”

“Kissy,” Y/n came to her senses.

Now she understood why Kissy was acting the way she was. Huggy and she had been important to each other at some point, and although Y/n didn’t know everything, she knew they were enemies now.

However... she didn’t want to cause Kissy that pain. She didn’t want her to face someone who was once very important to her, perhaps even still was.

Y/n got up, ready to fight. But Kissy was already there, ready to fight.

“Kissy, no!” Y/n exclaimed and approached her. “You don’t have to do this. Leave him to me. He came for me.”

Kissy gave her a sad smile and stroked her head as she shook her head. This was something she had to do this time.

Kissy looked at Doey, and he seemed to understand. She didn’t want help; she wanted to take care of Huggy herself, so she held Y/n.

“She doesn’t want help.”

“But...”

“Let her go, Y/n,” Poppy said without taking her eyes off Kissy. “This is something she has to do on her own.”

“No! No! She’s going to hurt Kissy! It’s my fault he’s here!”

Kissy approached and hugged Y/n. She was very happy for everything Y/n had done for her and because she still thought about taking care of her even though she was better now.

She separated and left the shelter.

“Kissy!” Y/n shouted, but they didn’t let her go after her.

The pink doll smiled. This time, she was going to be the one to protect Y/n.

It had been a long time since Kissy had last seen Huggy. Honestly, she thought she’d never see him again; she understood he was dead.

Apparently, she was wrong.

However, she didn’t feel exactly happy or sad. Her feelings were very complicated at that moment.

Huggy and she had been a couple for a long time, at first because of the company and then by their own decision. They were very happy.

They had supported each other even during the Hour of Joy, they had been together, but... then came the Prototype’s dictatorship. Each one made their decision, each one chose their side.

That’s when they could no longer support each other. Huggy agreed with 1006, but Kissy was on Poppy’s side.

There was war, there was death, there were separations, there were resentments.

Huggy never laid a hand on her, but he accepted that she be killed, he accepted that she be tortured, he accepted being a killing machine more than a living being. He accepted being her enemy.

She didn’t want to hurt Huggy, but he wasn’t her boyfriend anymore... He had killed many of her friends, he had let her be killed, he had seriously injured Y/n, almost to death...

This time she wasn’t going to have mercy.

Huggy was banging on the doors with objects, apparently he didn’t dare touch the electrified door.

She could hear Y/n shouting behind her, asking her to let her fight, that she didn’t have to do this.

Y/n was very good. Always giving her the best she had, always taking care of her. It wasn’t for nothing that they called her her “Angel.”

But she would be fine. Now she was in top shape, she had eaten a lot, slept more than enough, she had rested and had been pampered for all the time necessary to recover without problems and be in her best shape.

Y/n had said in her sleepwalking that Huggy was injured, quite injured, but from what Kissy heard, that didn’t mean he was less dangerous.

A wounded animal can be more dangerous than a healthy one.

She stood in front of the door and it began to open. Kissy took a deep breath, this time she was going to end it all.

In an instant, she could see Huggy’s blue fur wanting to enter as soon as he saw the doors opening, but Kissy kicked him out.

Huggy seemed surprised for a moment before looking at her. His eyes looked at her in surprise, but then his gaze became sharp.

Huggy got up angrily, without stopping looking at her. He didn’t approach, but he growled at her.

Kissy could see him better at this distance. Huggy had a broken head, he was missing an arm, he had used tape as bandages to keep his insides inside.

That fall had really left him in very bad shape.

He looked a lot like she had a couple of months ago, after the Prototype attacked her and they reached the refuge.

For a moment they just looked at each other. They didn’t move, they just observed each other.

Huggy observed her. Kissy seemed to be in good condition, she looked quite healthy, as if she didn’t lack food and water. She looked strong and ready to attack if he approached.

Huggy growled at her. He wanted her to get out of the way.

Kissy obviously wouldn’t allow it.

There was tension. For a moment they didn’t know if they would really attack each other, they never had. Despite the many fights they had, neither touched the other.

Kissy wasn’t letting him into the refuge. But she was also letting him go in peace.

Of course Huggy wouldn’t do that. He knew that that small and abominable employee was inside.

How was it possible that Kissy was protecting that employee? Didn’t she remember what they did to them? How they tortured them?

Kissy knew what he was thinking. But she wouldn’t let him hurt her angel.

The truth is, Kissy was quite angry. Huggy had betrayed her, he had agreed to let her be killed, he had supported a monster like 1006. He had killed her friends and now he wanted to destroy those who remained in the refuge and, of course, kill Y/n, who treated her better than anyone.

If he took one more step, she wasn’t going to have mercy. She would kill him. She wouldn’t let him hurt anyone again.

Huggy understood her, but he wasn’t going to leave. Today everything was going to end.

They were no longer a couple. They were no longer friends. They were nothing. They were enemies and they both knew it.

So they both launched themselves into fighting fiercely.

Kissy had the advantage, she was healthy and very strong. But Huggy was full of hate and fury.

Things would have been better if she hadn’t betrayed him. What did it cost her to have been on his side? What did it cost her to have accepted the Prototype? It was thanks to him that they are now free from the employees.

He just wanted to be with her and be free together. They both wanted it, but none of that mattered now, because now there was only a lot of resentment and hatred between them.

Who would have imagined that a couple who had been so united would have separated in the worst way?

They hit each other, they bit each other, they scratched each other to push the other back. They had no mercy. They hurt each other.

Huggy managed to use his remaining hand to scratch the pink one’s face and throw Kissy away, but when he was going to take the opportunity to enter the refuge, something small hit his face and a burning and itching sensation got into his eyes and nose.

It was one of those chili bombs that the employee had thrown at him when she attacked him in the caves!

Why did Kissy have one?

Huggy started to cough and try to remove the evil dust from his face. His eyes and nose burned, his throat screamed and let out moans.

A blow made him move away from the refuge door, some hands hit him with immense fury, breaking his legs and causing pain throughout his body.

When Huggy could open his eyes he found himself face to face with Kissy.

Her face was scratched, bleeding. There was a lot of hate, resentment and pain in her eyes.

Huggy was surprised to see her cry. Kissy, despite being so tender, didn’t usually cry much.

He had made her cry.

Huggy had broken legs and couldn’t walk. Kissy was stepping on his only arm, leaving him defenseless.

They both looked at each other for a moment.

Kissy was crying.

Huggy felt his heart ache.

They had promised not to hurt each other, but in the last 10 years hurting each other was all they had done.

Kissy wasn’t going to let him get away with it. No more.

Kissy opened her mouth, showing her sharp teeth and ready to attack. If she let him live, he would only be a problem for later.

This time she would save the rest of her friends.

Huggy closed his eyes and a tear rolled down his face before Kissy finished him off.

To be continued...

Chapter Text

Kissy looked at Y/n, who was crying while cleaning the wounds on her face. Since returning to the refuge after killing Huggy, Y/n hadn’t left her side.

The angel had been crying and lamenting that Kissy had suffered so much.

“You should have let me do it,” Y/n complained between sobs as she carefully applied ointment to her wounds. “Look what that ugly, blue, wretched monkey did to you!”

Kissy just smiled and stroked her head. Doey and Poppy tried to help, but Y/n slapped their hands away as soon as they extended them. She seemed very angry with them for not letting her help Kissy fight Huggy.

“She’ll recover, Y/n,” Doey said.

“Yes. Kissy is quite strong thanks to your care,” Poppy tried to cheer her up.

But Y/n just glared at them before shooing them out of the room and closing the door. Then, she turned back to Kissy.

Y/n finished treating her, wiped away her tears, and after looking at her for a moment longer, hugged her.

“I’m sorry, Kissy. It must have been very hard for you to face Huggy like this,” she said without looking at her. “I know there was a time when you were quite close.”

Kissy’s smile faltered, turning into a grimace of pain. When she returned to the refuge, she tried to hide it, but clearly couldn’t fool Tn.

Kissy began to sob and hugged Y/n. The woman held her as best she could and gave her a tight hug.

“It’s okay, Kissy. You were very brave. Thank you for protecting us. I’m very proud of you.”

Kissy softened a little; Y/n was talking to her as if she were a child. But she wasn’t a child anymore; still, it was nice that Y/n treated her that way.

Y/n only felt more like killing the Prototype; if it weren’t for him, this wouldn’t have happened.

But they couldn’t attack the Prototype yet; first, they had to create an escape route so everyone could get out of the factory. Then, they could blow everything up, and finally, they would be free.

There was a lot of work to do.

“Let me out!!” she shouted, trying to get out of the refuge, but the small toys were on her again.

“Noooo”

“Hold her!”

“Let me go! What’s wrong with you?!”

Y/n was getting fed up with everything. Why didn’t they still let her out? She was fine. She felt fine.

Doey appeared and tied her up with his clay body, giving her an annoyed look. Y/n returned the look with impatience.

“Why do you keep insisting on trapping me here?!”

“Why do you keep insisting on leaving?” he replied.

“Doey, there’s a lot to do. I can’t stay here doing nothing. It’s been a month and a half.”

“And I told you I wouldn’t let you leave until after two months.”

“Doey!”

“No way!” he denied. “It’s been exactly a month and a half since I found you half-dead; all those wounds won’t heal that quickly. You still have some bruises on your body, and some wounds still haven’t healed properly.”

“I feel fine!”

“You feeling fine doesn’t mean you are, human airhead!”

These fights were becoming very normal between them. The other toys teased them, saying they were in love. Which wasn’t true! Doey is too young for her.

“Let me go!”

“Nope!” He hoisted her onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. “You’re going to stay here until there’s no trace of damage on your body.”

“Doey! Let me go!”

She continued to complain as he carried her back inside the refuge, where Poppy just smiled at her amusedly.

“Y/n, you can’t escape Doey. You should know that by now.”

“You weren’t complaining when I was injured and went against the Doctor.”

“Let the past be, Y/n,” Doey said, sitting down with her on the floor, holding her as if she were a doll. “What’s important is the present.”

“I don’t like my present.”

“Well, you’re going to have to focus on resting well if you want to leave,” Poppy said, climbing onto Y/n’s legs and getting comfortable. “Because no one here will let you leave until you’re well.”

Y/n looked at her furiously.

“You two are a couple of traitors!”

However, they didn’t let her go until she fell asleep.

Y/n stopped trying to leave; after her twenty-seventh attempt, she finally surrendered to fate. Although she still pouted angrily.

However, after surrendering, something began to change in Y/n. Before, the woman seemed to have some kind of sadness on her, but she was always so busy that they couldn’t notice it well.

But now that she was finally calm… it was noticeable that it wasn’t normal sadness. Y/n was very depressed, and it didn’t seem to be because she couldn’t leave.

Y/n tried to hide it, but she kept looking at the drawings on the mural they had in the refuge. Above all, she kept looking at the drawing of the old leader, Dogday, who had disappeared a long time ago.

Y/n didn’t talk about it; sometimes she asked about him, and everyone answered the same thing.

“He was a great leader.”

“One day he said he was going to go out to find us something to eat, but he never came back.”

“We don’t know what happened to him.”

And Y/n always made an expression that made them think she knew more than they did, but she never said anything. She just stroked their heads and left.

They tried to comfort her because she obviously seemed very sad, but she refused to let anyone comfort her. She simply went to the farthest and darkest part of the refuge and stayed there for hours until Doey or Poppy forced her to come out.

One night, Doey woke up in the middle of the night and, as always, went for a walk around the refuge to see if everyone was alright.

Everything was in order, and they were sleeping soundly, comfortably, and without problems. But when he went to Y/n’s room, she wasn’t there.

Doey felt uneasy; after Huggy died, Y/n’s sleepwalking improved considerably, although sometimes she got up, but she no longer left the refuge.

He looked for her, but he couldn’t find her; however, when he was thinking of going out to see if she had taken the opportunity to sneak out of the refuge, he heard some faint sobs coming from that farthest and darkest place in the refuge. That place where Y/n always hid when she wanted to be alone.

He approached, and there she was, Y/n, alone and in the dark, hugging her legs.

“Y/n,” he called.

She looked up to see him. Her cheeks were wet with tears. She simply looked away again.

“You should go back to sleep, Doey,” she said. “I’m not going to leave if that’s what worries you.”

“I’m more worried about the fact that you’re here alone in the dark,” he said, calmly and kindly. “What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?”

Y/n was silent for a moment, as if she were thinking a lot. Then she slowly looked up.

“Doey… What was Dogday like with you?”

This question surprised him a little, although lately she had been asking a lot about him. Still, Doey sat down next to her and answered.

“Dogday was a great leader. He was always worried about everyone and fought bravely when there were attacks,” he said, looking into nothingness, remembering the past. “He was a great friend who helped me stay sane when our other companions died because of the Prototype’s henchmen,” he sighed. “He didn’t come back after a trip to find food… I wonder what happened.”

Y/n shifted uncomfortably, restless, nervous.

“How long… was it the last time you saw him?”

Doey thought for a moment.

“It was a long time ago, maybe… two years? I’m not sure.”

A part of Y/n’s heart felt terrified. Two years that sweet puppy had been trapped in those cells, two years being tortured by Catnap and those little cannibals.

But another part of her felt relieved because that meant he hadn’t been trapped there for ten years. In fact, she doubted very much that Catnap had really kept him alive for ten years, even if he had had the opportunity.

Still, a single day of torture feels like an eternity. What wouldn’t two years be?

Y/n burst into tears with more desperation, and Doey didn’t know what she had said that had put her like that.

“O-Hey, what’s wrong?”

Y/n grabbed him and looked at him with the pained look of someone carrying a very heavy stone on their back.

“Doey,” Y/n sobbed. “Until the end, Dogday didn’t stop thinking about you.”

“What?”

Y/n swallowed, preparing to tell him something that would undoubtedly break his heart, but that he needed to know.

“I-I… before coming down here, when I fought Catnap… I saw Dogday.”

Doey looked at her with wide eyes.

“What? You saw him? Where?”

Y/n sobbed.

“He was in the daycare cells. He… they had eaten his legs, and he was hanging there like trash; he… called me angel and… ” more tears streamed down her face. “…he told me to save them and destroy the Prototype. I… I couldn’t save him… those wretched little… I’m so sorry, Doey. I couldn’t do anything.”

Doey began to tremble.

“How long ago?”

Y/n gave him a pained look.

“The same day we met.”

Doey looked like he’d been shot.

His friend. Dogday.

He had thought he had died a long time ago. He never thought that in those two years since he disappeared, he would be on the upper floor, being tortured and cannibalized.

He didn’t save him.

If he had known he was alive, he would have gone to save him, but…

What if Dogday wasn’t the only one? How many more did he assume were dead, and weren’t?

What kind of friend was he?! He let Dogday die!

His friend… his friend…

He felt his tears fall as a horrible moan of pain escaped his mouth.

He felt an enormous urge to destroy everything. He felt an enormous pain in his heart. A pain he knew quite well. A pain he had always felt whenever he lost a friend in the old battles.

He wanted to go and destroy. He wanted to kill the Prototype. He wanted to kill Catnap and those monsters who tortured his friend.

Catnap was lucky to be dead because otherwise, he would kill him in the slowest and most torturous way possible.

One part wanted to destroy.

Another part wanted to know more. He wanted to know if Dogday had said anything else.

Suddenly, some arms wrapped around him and squeezed tightly, comforting, like a mother’s hug. It was Y/n, crying with him.

“I’m sorry. I know it hurts,” she said between sobs. “I also… blame myself every day for not having done more for him.”

And the last part of him collapsed in tears at those words.

“Dogday… my friend Dogday,” he cried as he hugged her and clung to her as if she were his lifeline.

There, they both cried together and didn’t let go until much later.

Doey spoke to everyone the following day at a meeting. Everyone needed to know what had happened to good old Dogday and how he had cared for them until the very end.

Everyone was crying. The little ones and the big ones. Kissy and Poppy too. Doey tried hard not to let tears fall, though it was too late for that.

Y/n was at the back, wiping her tears with her clothes. Her eyes must have been swollen from so much crying, but she wanted to be present at this ceremony.

She wished she could go back to when she first found him, maybe then she could have saved him. Maybe she couldn’t give him his legs back, but he would have had a better life.

But you can’t save everyone, can you?

She could only lament.

Doey couldn’t sleep, the pain was still there, and it would take a long time to go away, but at least they had been able to say goodbye to their friend in the best way they could.

He got up. Knowing Y/n, she would surely be awake too. That woman suffers a lot in silence and doesn’t let anyone else help her, so he doubted she slept after such a sad day.

He went to see how she was, she wasn’t in her bed again, so he looked for her where he always found her.

Sure enough, she was again in the darkest and furthest place in the shelter.

Y/n looked at him, she had dark circles under her eyes and a sad expression. Seeing him, she didn’t ask him to leave, she simply patted the place beside her.

Doey obeyed and sat down next to her. They both sat in silence for a moment before Y/n leaned against him sadly.

“How are you, Doey?”

“I’m calmer now,” he replied, also leaning on her “How are you?”

Y/n hesitated to answer for a moment. She had cried a lot, and now she felt too sensitive.

The pain was unbearable, and not just because of what happened with Dogday.

“I don’t know,” she answered. “Doey”

“Mmh?”

“What do you think of me?”

Doey looked at her without understanding. Y/n looked miserable.

“What do you mean?”

“Some say I’m an angel. I’m not an angel,” she said. “Others say I’m their savior, but...” she sighed. “I’ve been having a dream, a recurring one I’ve had since the day we met.”

“A nightmare?”

Y/n nodded with a complicated look.

This caught the clay creature’s attention.

“And what do you dream?”

Y/n felt a knot in her stomach. Her heart quickened with horror. She didn’t want to say anything, but she couldn’t keep it in anymore.

She just wanted someone to know, even if they thought it was just a dream.

“I dreamed that I knew you, you had killed Pianosaurus. Then, I followed you to the shelter, but... Things were different, what happened here didn’t happen.”

Y/n began to tell how she followed Ollie’s instructions, how the shelter exploded.

“You... you were so angry and you blamed Poppy and me, but since Poppy wasn’t there, you took it out on me. You said that you couldn’t trust anyone and that kind voices lie,” she said, starting to cry, but without stopping talking. “You transformed and I saw them, the three of you. Matthew, Kevin, Jack.”

Doey looked at her in surprise. It had been a long time since someone had called him by his real name.

Y/n sobbed.

“You hunted me and I... I...” Y/n trembled. “...I killed you,” she sobbed again, louder, and tried to wipe the tears from her face, but continued. “You died in sadness and your last words were that you were sorry. Not to me, but to those in the shelter who also died. It was horrible.”

Doey didn’t know what to say to calm her down. Y/n wouldn’t let him touch her, feeling unworthy.

“Then I found Poppy and Kissy who had survived and there the three of us discovered that Ollie was 1006. He had planned everything, he had made me overload the generator, saying that we were fixing it, to get rid of us.”

She began to tell things that 1006 had said, how he had cornered them and how Poppy, completely terrified, had abandoned her and Kissy.

“When Poppy left, he blew up the place. I fell, but Kissy managed to hold onto me and with her damaged arm she held me, but her arm...” Y/n sobbed again. “...was completely torn. And I fell into the abyss.”

She told how she got to the lowest underground level, she talked about the poppy garden and how Huggy killed her in a gruesome way.

“When I opened my eyes, I was in the elevator, before I met you. We were leaving the daycare.”

“That’s why you cried when you saw me?”

“Yes. I was so happy to see you. I was happy that you were alive and that I had another chance to fix everything, to not fall into Ollie’s traps.”

“That would also explain why you seemed so angry when Poppy was around or when Ollie called, it would also explain your behavior with Kissy and everything you’ve done so far,” Doey commented thoughtfully.

Doey didn’t believe in time travel, but apparently Y/n did, and everything she said seemed to have some logic. But Doey, more than believing, felt genuinely curious.

“Doey...” Y/n spoke carefully, slowly, as if fearing what she was about to say. “If that had really been the past, if I had gone back in time and you could remember it... Would you still forgive me?”

The question sounded like something Y/n had always wanted to ask, but had hidden and imprisoned in the deepest part of her heart.

If this had been something else, he would undoubtedly have laughed. But not this time, this was something too important for Y/n.

Doey thought for a moment, just a couple of seconds.

“If everything you told me had been real... I think it wouldn’t matter much now.”

“What?!”

Doey gave her a small smile.

“Y/n, you saved us all. You gave us food, water, and all the luxuries that a humble shelter and its inhabitants like us could wish for. You killed our enemies and fought the battles we couldn’t fight. You were always there. How could I not forgive you?”

Y/n looked at him with wide eyes. There was hope as tears continued to stream down her face.

Doey began to dry her tears.

“If that were real. I think I would be quite grateful that you wanted so much to come back and fix things. To save us all and to redeem yourself,” he stroked her head. “Thank you, Y/n.”

The woman’s sobs began to get stronger, more unbearable, coming out uncontrollably. This was something that had been eating away at her since she returned and now that she had let it out, she could no longer hold it back.

Her relief and pain came out without any dignity. Simply a bomb that had been kept for too long and that finally came out in the best way.

Doey didn’t hate her.

Doey loved her. He didn’t resent her.

She... Was so happy.

Doey hugged her tightly and Y/n finally let herself be comforted as she cried like an abandoned child who finally found rest.

Chapter Text

Finally, she could get out!

Y/n had to wait two months, but they finally let her out. Of course, she wasn’t alone, she was accompanied by Doey.

“So you plan to create a direct exit to the surface?”

“I don’t think I can create a direct exit.” Y/n said looking at a map, walking beside Doey. “But a route, yes.”

“And... is that okay? It’s been too long since any of us got out.”

“I know it can be terrifying. But everything will be alright. I know the outside, so I can guide them to safe zones where they will be safe! And, above all, away from this horrible factory and 1006.”

Doey seemed thoughtful and internally conflicted.

Y/n touched his arm to encourage him. Since they both talked that night about her past live (although he thought it was a dream) they had become closer.

“Hey, everything’s going to be alright,” she said giving him a sweet smile. “They’re going to get out of here and go to a safe place. I know their situation won’t allow them to live with humans normally, I’ve considered that, so don’t worry.”

“But...”

“Doey, they don’t have to keep living like this. Let’s work together and get everyone out of here.”

“But... will we be alright?”

They had spent too long surviving, seeing and experiencing horrible things. He had been protecting everyone in the shelter for too long and didn’t want all that to be ruined.

He looked at her, Y/n patted him. He nodded slowly.

“Let’s look for freedom, Doey,” she said. “Let’s not let fear stop us. Anyway, all of us have fought for our freedom, we can’t stop now.”

Doey knew she was right. He knew it, but he had been locked up there for so long that it was hard to think differently. But he would fight for everyone’s freedom.

The map Y/n had was full of markings and small notes. In those two months Y/n had been reading the map, memorizing and comparing it with her memories to create a route that could lead them to the outside.

So in the next few days Y/n and Doey were reviewing the jail and that whole level, using their knowledge to be able to take the others with them on a safe route. Or at least as safe as possible.

Most likely they wouldn’t be able to go all at once, but they would go in small groups until they could all get out. Besides, after those 10 years, the factory structure had deteriorated and no longer followed exactly what the map dictated.

When Doey and she returned after hours of marking different sections of that level, they locked themselves in the generator room with Poppy to discuss what they were planning.

The plan to blow up that place could still stand, but first they had to get everyone out of there safe and sound. And that would take time, so they had to think very carefully about their next steps.

Poppy talked about different hiding places that Kissy and she had used to stay hidden and safe. She pointed them out on the map, marking them so everyone knew where they were; there they could rest and hide on their way to freedom.

They planned for a long time, some days and weeks, but finally they created a route on the map.

They planned an order to be able to get everyone out in groups without leaving anyone behind. They would go level by level, grouping in each one and always going up, it might take several days to get out, but that was okay.

The first goal would be to get out of the jail level.

Doey and she returned to the sections they had marked and began to build mini shelters, each closer to the elevator. This ensured they had places nearby to reach if things got complicated.

Currently and thanks to the hunt, there weren’t so many Nightmares Clitters or mini Huggies around anymore, so everything was safer since the possibility of falling into an ambush was much smaller.

It took a couple more weeks, but when Doey and she managed to finish remodeling old offices and rooms as mini shelters, it was time for the next part of the plan.

Now, Kissy and Y/n would go up to the Playcare and there the pink one would take her to the hiding place where she and Poppy had been hiding when Y/n was fighting Catnap. There they would both hide until they found a place where everyone could regroup after leaving the jail.

But first they would have to get rid of all those little cannibals that were in the Playcare so they wouldn’t interfere with their plans.

Anyway, food in jail was getting scarce.

So Kissy and Y/n prepared one day to go up to the Playcare. They would communicate by phone, but to avoid being tricked, they made a code between them to be able to recognize if it was them or the Prototype trying to impersonate them.

“Get a bigger place so we can all be there, our hiding place in the Playcare wasn’t that big and we might not all fit,” Poppy told Y/n, visibly worried.

Y/n smiled. Putting on the Grabpack.

“Don’t worry, we’ll make sure of that,” she said and turned to the pink one. “Are you ready, Kissy?”

Kissy nodded, stretched her arms and made a gesture of being ready to fight. Y/n smiled.

“Perfect.”

Kissy and she went straight to the Playcare. With the Omnihand with them, they could enter sections where they couldn’t before. Maybe they could get a better shelter to hide in where no one else could enter.

Like a Safe Haven 2.0 in the Playcare.

But they would go step by step.

Kissy and Tn headed for the exit.

“We’ll be back with good news. First we’re going to get rid of those little pests,” Y/n said as she said goodbye to those in the shelter who hugged her worried that she was leaving.

Since she had the accident with Huggy, the little Smiling Clitters and the Huggies in the shelter became much more attached to her, some followed her here and there like ducklings. It was sad to leave them.

“Y/n, please, take care,” Doey said hugging her.

“I always take care of myself,” Doey looked at her incredulously. “Ok. Ok. I’ll be more careful. I don’t want to be locked up for another two months.”

“Next time I’ll tie you to the bed.”

“Evil,” she scoffed. “Make sure you constantly check the meeting points in the jail areas to make sure no one else takes the place.”

“Of course. Don’t worry about that,” Poppy said. “Be careful. Kissy! We trust Y/n to you.”

Kissy nodded as she moved her arm to say goodbye. The little toys shouted in farewell.

So Kissy and Y/n headed for the elevator to return to Playtime.

They were careful and were silent on the way. That there were fewer enemies didn’t mean there were no dangers.

Kissy guided Y/n through shortcuts that kept them hidden, and when they couldn’t, Y/n took the lead and guided, making sure to be alert to danger.

Even after all this time, Y/n still jealously cared for Kissy, making sure she was always alright.

Finally, after a somewhat long walk, they arrived at the elevator.

“Let’s go, Kissy,” Y/n said getting into the elevator, Kissy quickly got beside her.

Y/n pressed the button that would take them up. Y/n clasped her hands and closed her eyes, praying to God that nothing bad would happen to those in the shelter while they weren’t there.

And that they could be able to find a safe place in the Playcare where everyone could meet.

Y/n opened her eyes and looked at Kissy, who also looked at her.

“Calm down, I know the last time you were in the Playcare wasn’t very pleasant. But I’ll protect you, I promise,” she put a hand on her chest. “I’ll kill anyone who touches you.”

Kissy smiled and ruffled her hair.

Kissy took Y/n to the small shelter where she and Poppy hid when she fought Catnap.

It was a small room, but enough to hide both of them without problems.

“Very well,” said Y/n. “Let’s rest a bit while we plan how to move.” Y/n took out the blueprints of the Playcare. “If you want, rest, Kissy. While I take charge of studying the plans and making a plan.”

Kissy refused and stood beside her. The mission to make the Playcare another refuge to get everyone out of prison was something they both had to do. She wouldn’t let Y/n take charge of everything as she had before.

With Kissy’s knowledge and Y/n’s memories of her old confrontation and expedition in that place, they managed to mark those parts where the small cannibalistic Smiling Clitters were concentrated.

They had to get rid of each one of them. Everyone would become food for those in the refuge.

Y/n proposed a plan and told it to Kissy.

“I was planning to use the machine I helped fix to fill the Playcare with red gas, to put the Smiling Clitters to sleep and then deal with them. Although… it’s not a good idea,” she said. “It would be a rather complicated and time-consuming mission to make the red gas seep into every corner of the Playcare, besides it’s highly flammable, so we’ll have to think of something else.”

Kissy thought for a moment and then, coming up with something, got up and took an empty fire extinguisher.

Y/n didn’t know for a second what Kissy wanted, until she grasped the idea and looked at her with a huge smile.

“Kissy, you’re a genius!” Y/n exclaimed. “We can use the fire extinguisher as a red gas atomizer. We can fill it and take it with us anywhere.”

That way they could fill only the necessary parts with red smoke and defend themselves against the small cannibals.

It was a great idea. So they did that.

With Kissy’s help, they managed to collect different fire extinguishers. They left the full ones in case of an accident, and they filled the empty ones with a strong concentrate of red gas.

They had already marked the most dangerous places and the places they had to explore on the map. They would look for a place to inaugurate a new temporary refuge, but functional to bring the others. And they would do that on each level until they could get out of the factory.

“Let’s get to work, Kissy,” said Y/n with a couple of masks. One of them was homemade for Kissy. “We have to prepare this level for our friends.”

Kissy nodded, strapping several red gas extinguishers around her.

It took a long time, but first they had planned to explore to see how much the place had changed since they left the Playcare.

It was much more disordered than Tn remembered. And she knew why. Without Catnap, the Smiling Clitters were desperate, they didn’t have a leader to follow and were uncoordinated.

Catnap was surely the one who got them food, without him, they had panicked. Even the sanctuary that Catnap had built for the Prototype was destroyed, completely empty of bodies.

It seemed that the little creatures had eaten them all.

Y/n planned to hunt them before they started eating each other. She had a whole refuge to feed, she couldn’t let anyone else eat her food, especially when there weren’t many mini Huggies and Nightmare Clitters left in prison.

Thanks to the Omnihand, Y/n and Kissy managed to access areas that were closed off or which they hadn’t been able to access before.

They found offices that only high-ranking personnel could access, there were old laboratories and even a large dining room that had been built before the construction of the prison, but there was no food there, however, when searching more deeply in case there was still something left, Kissy noticed something behind a refrigerator that covered a large part of the wall.

“What did you find, Kissy?”

Kissy moved the empty (and somewhat heavy) refrigerator aside. Revealing an entrance to another room.

Both approached, with the fire extinguishers in their hands in case it was a trap. But to their dismay and pleasant surprise, they didn’t find any Smiling Clitters there, but what they found was a miracle.

There were supplies there. Non-perishable foods, many of them. Canned goods, packaged foods, and unused gas tanks.

Y/n was genuinely surprised. Kissy and she began to check everything quickly.

Apparently, this was the Playcare dining room’s warehouse, it had been built before they built the prison. Apparently, this is where they kept the food they planned to use to feed the orphans.

Y/n remembered that there were many workers who stole food if they had the opportunity. So the factory must have opened access to a room continuous to the dining room, put the supplies there and covered the entrance with a refrigerator to hide it.

The factory did this and left only the necessary amount of food outside that would be enough for the orphans and the workers. That way there wouldn’t be enough to steal, and the next day they would take food from the warehouse before the workers arrived to work.

Apparently, neither Catnap nor the Smiling Clitters had discovered that place before. That was good for them. The warehouse wasn’t completely full, it seemed that food had been taken from there before the Hour of Joy.

But that didn’t matter, they had enough supplies for the refuge.

“We have to hide this, Kissy,” Y/n said. “We can’t let those little monsters find it.”

It didn’t seem that anyone had entered the dining room in a long time, surely because they had lost access to this place after she killed the doctor, leaving all the Prototype’s allies without the power of the Omnihand. Besides, there was nothing left there for them anymore.

Even so, Y/n wouldn’t take risks with this. Those supplies were worth more than gold in that place.

Kissy and Y/n closed the entrance with the refrigerator and began to explore the other rooms around. There was a whole section where you could only enter with the Omnihand.

There were bathrooms for high-level personnel, there were offices that could be transformed into rooms; Kissy and she could bring the beds from Home Sweet Home there.

There was enough space for everything. It even had a security system in the area, surely in case one of the experiments wanted to force entry.

“Kissy, I think we found our new refuge.”

Kissy applauded with excitement.

The following days both dedicated themselves to cleaning the area to remodel it and make the new refuge. They also explored other areas and began to hunt Smiling Clitters and begin to process and store their meat for when the others arrived.

Kissy and Y/n took advantage of the fact that there were supplies and canned food to try something new. They had planned to open the first cans with those in the refuge but… they couldn’t fight the temptation.

They felt guilty… a little.

The canned goods and packaged food were the kind that lasted for years, surely to prevent the food from spoiling and having to buy more later.

Y/n and Kissy worked hard to remodel the new refuge. The Playcare had a lot of material to make this refuge have more amenities than the one in prison. So they had a lot to do.

Finally, after a couple of weeks of hard work, Y/n called the refuge.

The bell rang twice before someone answered. It was Poppy.

“Yes?”

“What forms a Sapphire and a Ruby?”

Poppy laughed.

“A Garnet.”

Y/n smiled. It was Poppy.

They had made different codes so that, when calling each other, they knew if any of them was an imposter. You only had to say the first part of the code and the other had to complete it.

Luckily, the code had been completed.

Y/n spoke with Poppy inside the new refuge. Both exchanged information.

Apparently the refuge had received several attacks from the Prototype while they were gone. Apparently 1006 knew that Y/n wasn’t with them, so he tried to break through… or cause fear, which seemed to work.

“Don’t let panic spread,” Y/n said. “The new refuge is ready, we’ve found a good place and remodeled it. We’re still working a little on security, since, they can’t enter here without the Omnimhand, but the defenses aren’t like those over there,” she explained. “Kissy and I are working very hard to improve security here, but it’s enough for now.”

“Great! I’ll tell Doey. He’s missed you both a lot, especially you, Y/n.”

“I’m sure he’s missed fighting with me.”

“All couples fight.”

Y/n blushed.

“He’s not my partner!”

“Really?” Poppy started to tease. “Because he’s even slept next to you.”

Y/n exclaimed angrily.

“That’s because he tied me up with his plasticine so I wouldn’t escape at night!”

“Yes. Yes. Yes. Whatever you say.”

“Little possessed piece of porcelain!”

Poppy let out a dramatic gasp of indignation.

“Y/n!”

“Goodbye,” Y/n hung up with blushing cheeks.

She heard a giggle. She turned around and there was Kissy looking at her with a complicit look, with one hand over her mouth trying to stifle her laughter.

“Kissy! You too?!”

The pink-haired girl simply walked away without erasing her smile and still laughing.

Y/n snorted.

Why did everyone tease her about that?

Chapter Text

The first group of refugees arrived at the new Playcare Save Haven shortly after. They were guided by Doey for a full day on the lower level until they could reach the elevator where Kissy was waiting.

Little by little, more and more began to arrive, until only the last group was missing, where Doey and Poppy were.

With the previous groups, everything was strangely quiet. But considering that the Prototype only cared about Poppy, it wouldn’t surprise him if he decided to attack this last group.

The previous groups had already received attacks before from the few Nightmares Critters that had survived... And well, let’s just say they don’t exist anymore.

But the Prototype had not yet attacked.

“What is the name of the father of the 4 ninja turtles?”

Poppy laughed.

“Splinter.” she replied. “Who loves ham cakes?”

“The Chavo del 8” (referencing a TV show)

Both laughed.

“I’m glad it’s you this time, Y/n.” she said. “The Prototype tried to impersonate you a few days ago. But we managed to discover it.”

“Really? Well, it was obvious that sooner or later he would try it.”

“He tried to give us strange instructions, but he couldn’t answer the riddles, that’s how I discovered it.”

Y/n smiled.

“Will you come tomorrow?”

“Yes. There are only 5 of us, including Doey and me, to get to Playcare.”

“Be careful. The Prototype seems desperate, it’s very possible that he will try to attack you. And you know why.”

Poppy sighed with a little anguish.

“I know.”

“First let’s make sure we get everyone out of here and then we’ll go after him.” she paused. “Be careful on your way up here.”

“Of course, I’ll make sure Doey will be perfumed and combed. You haven’t had a date in a long time.”

“We’ve never had a date, what are you talking about?” said Y/n “Besides, Doey is made of dough, he doesn’t have hair.”

“Yes, but he’s full of love.” she laughed. “We’re missing some romance around here.”

“Poppy, I’m going to hang up if you keep going like this.”

Poppy scoffed.

“You’re not funny. Why don’t you let yourself be loved?”

Y/n, to her surprise, couldn’t answer as quickly as she wanted. Remaining momentarily without knowing what to say.

What was she going to say? That she didn’t feel worthy of being loved because she still hadn’t forgiven herself completely?

Even though Doey didn’t hate her and nobody else but the Prototype, Y/n still had nightmares where she was on her knees looking at Doey’s fresh corpse saying he was sorry, dying miserably because of her.

She dreamed him in the middle of the shelter, crying and apologizing to everyone, suffering and repenting for having accepted her into the shelter.

Besides, who says he’s going to stay with them once they get out of the factory? Without a doubt, at that moment all those toys needed her and that’s why they kept her close, but as soon as they left and took them to a place far from people where they could finally be free... Well, she wouldn’t bother them anymore.

Because surely, once they no longer need her, resentment might grow again and she doesn’t want that to happen. She will leave so as not to bother them, so they will have a good memory of her without being a constant reminder of the employees who hurt them so much.

And that’s also why she can’t be with Doey. Whatever he feels... maybe it’s only temporary, once it’s all over, he’ll be fine and he’ll forget about her.

Y/n sighed mentally, closing her eyes for a moment.

“We don’t have time for your soap opera romances, Poppy. There are too many things to do.”

Poppy laughed.

“It may be a soap opera romance, but everyone here needs a little entertainment, and the chemistry between the two of you is one of the funniest things.”

“Poppy, I’m going to hang up on you.”

“But Y/n, you can’t be so mean-..”

Y/n hung up the phone.

“Kissy, let me go!” Y/n moved trying to get out of the pink one’s hug who was trying to comb and fix her hair.

Today would be the day she would meet Doey, Poppy and the other 3 missing refugees.

Y/n had been very busy feeding the other toys they already had in the Playcare shelter. Everyone was so fascinated and happy to eat something other than the flesh of their enemies.

There were cans of canned fruit and everyone was very happy. But suddenly Kissy had taken her aside and started fixing her up for her meeting with Doey.

“Kissy, I’m just going to pick them up, I’m not going on a date.” Y/n complained as she combed her hair and held her at the same time.

But Kissy didn’t listen to her and didn’t let go of her until she felt satisfied with the result.

It’s not that much could be done down there, but Y/n had clean clothes (stolen from the lockers of the former employees). She was perfumed (also stolen from the lockers) and combed with a pretty ponytail (with a stolen rubber band).

“Kissy, seriously, it’s clear that you and Poppy are best friends for a reason.” Kissy laughed innocently and patted her on the back to make her hurry and go pick up Doey and the others.

Y/n walked towards the elevator, she had checked that the security of the new shelter was in good shape, so she knew that in her absence they would be fine. She would go down the elevator to the jail level to pick up the missing ones.

On her way she was prepared with her trusty Grabpack and a red gas extinguisher.

Kissy and she had already gotten rid of many cannibal Smiling Critters, but even so Y/n knew that there were many more out there and that they were a potential danger.

You’re never careful enough.

Their cannibal comrades had also been used as food. Which was ironic, since they did the same thing too.

When she reached the elevator, Y/n used her Grabpack to activate the mechanism and go down.

She was nervous, it wasn’t the first time she went down to pick someone up, but this time she was going to see Doey after a long time.

“Tsk. Poppy and Kissy are putting things in my head.”

When she arrived at the entrance, she was surprised not to see anyone there. Normally they are always waiting or hiding nearby, but this time there didn’t seem to be anyone.

Y/n felt uneasy. It wasn’t normal for them to be late. Perhaps, the Prototype did...

“Quick!” she heard Poppy’s voice shouting in the distance. “Run! Quick!”

Y/n went on guard and prepared herself.

“Doey! Poppy!”

Suddenly they appeared, all riding on Doey’s back who was moving very quickly, now taking a similar form to when he attacked her in her previous life. For a moment Y/n felt fear.

But then she heard the metallic paws of someone running towards them.

The Prototype.

He was quite tall, his legs looked like those of a spider and a crab at the same time, his metallic hands, humanoid head. He looked like an amalgamation with many parts that didn’t belong to him.

He was an abomination.

Y/n was terrified for a moment, but then she felt a lot of anger and hatred.

Finally she knew the culprit of all her misfortunes. Finally she knew the famous Prototype. The one who hurt Kissy and everyone.

Y/n grabbed the red smoke extinguisher, made it leak constantly and with her Grabpack she threw it at the Prototype who grabbed it effortlessly and crushed it, surrounding it with a concentrate of red smoke that didn’t affect him.

But Y/n had a plan. With the orange flare gun, Y/n pointed it.

“Nice to finally meet you, Ollie.” she smiled innocently and sweetly before shooting him. And since 1006 was surrounded by red smoke, it reacted and began to burn.

And fire was something that affected him.

She began to hear the Prototype scream as he tried to put himself out.

“Yes! Burn, you wretch!” Poppy shouted as, finally, they reached the elevator.

Y/n began to manipulate the controls to go back up while 1006 burned.

She knew that wouldn’t kill him, but it would hurt him enough to leave him incapacitated (she hoped) for a time that they could use to get closer to the exit. That extinguisher had a very potent concentrate of red smoke.

The elevator began to rise and the last thing they saw of the jail was the Prototype writhing in flames, screaming at them.

"HoW dArE yOu?! YoU’Ll PaY fOr ThIs!”

It was very pleasant to see.

“Are you all right?”

Doey returned to his normal form with Poppy and 3 other refugees on his back.

“Yes.” Poppy replied. “Y/n, that was incredible! You burned him!”

“He owed me.”

“Did you invent that extinguisher of yours?”

“No. It was an idea between Kissy and me.”

Y/n looked at Doey who, as Poppy said, was perfumed and combed.

Yes. Combed.

It seemed that someone manipulated the mass on his head to make it look like hair.

“It can’t be.” Y/n murmured.

Doey looked at her and smiled.

“I’m glad to finally see you, Y/n.”

Y/n felt her heart skip a beat.

She smiled.

“Me too, Doey.”

The way to the new shelter was much calmer, Y/n told them that everything was pretty good, but that she would need them to improve the defenses so that it would be difficult for the Prototype to cross them if he wanted to attack them.

Everything was beautiful. The new Safe Haven was spacious, with many amenities brought from Sweet Home Sweet and the best...

“Is that... Food?! REAL food?!!” Doey and Poppy opened their eyes wide when Y/n and Kissy showed them the warehouse with canned food.

“TA-RAAN!” Y/n struck a pose to show them. “Now we can eat canned fruit salad.”

Both screamed and threw themselves at Kissy and Y/n and hugged them.

Everyone ate very well that day.

Finally it was night and Y/n was already very tired. Finally everyone had arrived safe and sound at Playcare and had taken a huge step on the road to their freedom.

However, as she was falling asleep, she felt someone lying down beside her. Y/n opened her eyes a little and recognized Doey’s colors.

Y/n didn’t think much about it and hugged him half asleep. Doey hugged her back and stroked her hair.

“You look good in your new clothes.”

Y/n gave a weak laugh as her eyes closed once more.

“I loved your hair.” she replied before falling asleep.

After everyone had arrived at the Playcare shelter, Y/n finally felt able to breathe easier, to relax a little more. She indulged in sleeping in instead of getting up before everyone else. However, while she did so, the others took advantage. And by others, I mean the little toys.

Whenever Y/n opened her eyes, she had one or more little toys cuddled up with her or using her as a mattress. It wasn’t that it really bothered her, it just made her think.

But that wasn’t the worst of it. The worst was that Doey also appeared cuddled up beside her, hugging her.

“They look like a married couple with their children,” Poppy said once.

“Leave me alone, Poppy!” Y/n told her, trying to escape from the clay arms, but Doey refused to let her go and the little ones wanted their human mattress back. “Let me go! I’m hungry!”

So in the end, Y/n decided she would getting up early to avoid having to deal with affectionate toys that wouldn’t let her go. It was much simpler for her, and it also allowed her to prepare for a personal project she had pending:

Assassinating each of those little cannibalistic toys.

Despite her great mental improvement, the nightmares with Dogday were something that continued to haunt her. And all because of those little wretches.

So she got up early, pulling away from Doey’s hands (who insisted on sleeping with her) and went to a room to read a map of the Playcare.

There were markings with a red marker where Kissy and she had found nests and large groups of Smiling Critters. That’s where she planned to go and make sure to turn those little misfortunes into food.

And she did it... for a few days before Doey caught her in his hands again and prevented her from disappearing.

Doey looked at her with frustration.

“What did we talk about regarding leaving without warning and disappearing for hours? Seriously, Y/n. If I find out again that you have a small, mediocre base like the one in jail, I promise you…”

“Doey,” Y/n interrupted him. “It’s nothing like that, I promise.”

“Then why are you getting up so early?”

Y/n thought for a moment whether or not to tell him. She knew that if she told him, Doey would surely insist on going with her; but she also couldn’t lie to him because he hated lies.

Y/n sighed in surrender.

“I’m hunting.”

“We have enough food.”

“No. Not exactly that kind of hunting.”

Doey tilted his head.

“Then?”

Y/n was embarrassed that Doey could hold her so easily with both hands as if holding a simple doll.

“I’m avenging Dogday,” she said, and Doey’s expression changed to a surprised one and then a very serious one. “Look,” she showed him the map. “The marked points are where they usually group together.” She didn’t say who, but it wasn’t necessary. “I’ve gone after them, I want to destroy them all.”

Doey put Y/n down, but held her with one hand while with the other he took the map and looked at it thoughtfully and angrily. Then he looked at Y/n and spoke.

“I’ll go with you.”

Yes. She knew he would say that.

So they both went to the place Y/n planned to go. And that place was… in the prisons where Y/n had seen Dogday for the first and last time.

Y/n, at Doey’s request, showed him where Dogday was killed.

The cell was still very dirty, the belts with which they had restrained Dogday were still there, but there was no one hanging from them anymore. Y/n shuddered at the memory of the adorable dog speaking to her with dull eyes.

“You… you’re Poppy’s angel… You came to save us…”

Y/n felt her eyes welling up and her vision blurring. She had to close her eyes to avoid crying.

“I’m sorry, Dogday, I couldn’t save you.”

“So, this is where…” Doey’s voice broke her thoughts. Y/n turned to look at him. Doey had a look of pain and guilt. “This is where they killed him,” he clenched his fists. “If I had known…” Y/n put a hand on his.

Doey looked at her. Y/n stroked his hand.

“There was no way you could have known,” she said. “I think…” she looked towards the empty cell. “...I think Dogday would have preferred you to stay and take care of the others, because without you in the shelter… Well, everyone would have already died.”

Doey looked at her, reached out a hand towards her face and caressed her cheek. Her skin was soft and warm.

He leaned in a little closer, Y/n didn’t move away, but he saw how her face turned redder and her eyes shone. She looked very pretty like that.

Doey leaned down, closed his eyes and kissed her forehead affectionately while Y/n held his arm. He caress her cheeks a little more.

When they separated, they looked at each other and remained silent for a moment before Doey spoke again.

“Is it through those tubes where they came out to kill him?” he said, looking to the sides of the cell where Y/n remembered the Smiling Critters had come out before killing Dogday.

“Uh… yes. It was through there… Doey, what are you doing?” she asked as she saw Doey enter the cell.

“I’m going hunting,” he replied. “Wait for me here. I’ll bring dinner.” With that, he slipped through the tubes with ease, but Y/n felt as if he were trying to escape.

Soon many screams could be heard from the tubes and Doey’s evil laughter

Well… at least he’s having fun.

A few hours passed before they returned to the shelter. They were carrying a huge load of meat supplies.

Both looked very proud, especially Doey who still had traces of blood on his body.

“We can say that we were able to get rid of a large part of them. Doey can reach those small places where I can’t go.”

Poppy clicked her tongue.

“And I thought you were going on a date.”

Y/n pointed her Grabpack at her.

“You’re getting on my nerves, Poppy.”

The doll raised both hands in surrender.

“I was just saying.”

“Well, stop saying. We just went to avenge our friend, nothing more.”

Poppy looked at Doey, Doey looked at Poppy and they both smiled knowingly.

Y/n took Doey’s hand and began to pull him.

“Come on. We need to get that blood off your face,” she said, and Doey followed her obediently.

Y/n wet a cloth and began to clean his face, removing the traces of blood.

Doey, deliberately, put both hands on Y/n’s waist.

Y/n simply ignored him.

Kissy and Poppy smiled in the distance.

“I’m telling you, Kissy. It’s Y/n who just doesn’t let herself be loved.”

Y/n threw a flare at them, but they ran away.

Chapter Text

A week had passed. And however cozy the new Save Haven in the Playcare was, everyone knew they couldn’t stay there.

They had to take advantage of the Prototype being injured to be able to move. They had to get out of the factory before he became a problem again.

Doey, Poppy, and Y/n met to plan how they were going to do it.

“We don’t have the train to move,” Poppy said. “But luckily, that’s not the only way to the surface. We can create a route to get out of here.”

“Most of the enemy Smiling Critters have been killed. We can use their flesh as food while we leave; we also have supplies that Y/n and Kissy found,” Doey said. “We’d have to find a way to carry mattresses, blankets, and pillows too, since there’s nothing like that in the Game Station and the Lobby, and we need something to rest on.”

“We should also check the security; the Prototype may be out of service for the moment, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more dangers out there.”

They planned to create a route that would first take them to Mommy Long Legs’ Game Station and then to the Lobby, which was Huggy Wuggy’s old territory that led to the factory exit.

Y/n went with Kissy to create the route. Doey would stay in the Playcare because if something attacked the Save Haven, he could protect them along with Poppy. Besides, Kissy knew the way to the Game Station and the Lobby on foot better, since they wouldn’t have the train to move.

The road was much longer than it would have been if they were on the train, but it was a route that would help them leave the factory. They moved quickly; they knew that the time the Prototype was incapacitated was gold, and they had to take advantage of every second before he could attack them again.

Doey, Poppy, and Y/n often met to plan what to do, who was going to do what, and how and when they were going to mobilize.

They were divided into four groups; now without 1006, they could afford to move faster and in larger groups, but they had to be careful.

They first arrived at Mommy’s Game Station area. It was much lonelier since the last time Y/n and Kissy were there. Bonzo Bunny, the colored Huggies, and PJ weren’t there either. There was no one; there were only bones and pieces of rotten skin.

They had their own mini Save Haven there where they rested, but they didn’t stop there, as they had to move towards Huggy’s old area, where the exit was.

This lasted a couple of weeks. The route was long, silent, and tense, always on high alert and with their nerves on edge, prepared in case something attacked them. They crossed metal bridges, solved the Puzzles, and settled near the exit. There was no sign of life in the Lobby besides them.

There were no signs of life at all. As if they were the last living beings there… which was much more likely if she thought about it.

They planned to leave the next day. It wasn’t going to be the end of their fight, but if they wanted to destroy the Prototype, they had to get all their friends out of the factory first.

Y/n stayed awake that night; she left the camp to check the surroundings. The Lobby was as empty as when she arrived there, the same day she got trapped.

Y/n was thoughtful about all the things she had been through since she arrived there… including her horrible and miserable death.

But tomorrow would be a big step; they would get the toys out, and then Poppy, Kissy, and she would go to the deepest area of the factory to get rid of the Prototype and destroy the factory.

Of course, it sounded easier than it really would be. The fight would be tremendous.

She heard a noise behind her, but she wasn’t afraid.

“You should be sleeping, Doey,” she said without turning around.

Doey approached her.

“I’m just making sure you don’t get lost.”

“I couldn’t get lost, at least not here in the Lobby.”

Doey approached and put a hand on her shoulder.

“Are you worried?”

“Of course, I’m very afraid of fighting the Prototype, but this is our best opportunity. He’s injured, and we have to take advantage.”

“You burned him with the flames of your fury. Poppy couldn’t stop laughing at his misfortune.”

“He deserves it for being a jerk,” Y/n said with resentment.

Doey laughed and hugged her by the waist, pulling her towards him.

“Sometimes I wonder who hates the Prototype more, you or Poppy.”

Y/n leaned against his chest, thoughtful.

“I don’t know. I think Poppy hates him, but she’s also too afraid of him.”

“Everyone is afraid of him.”

“Yes. But soon we’ll make sure he’s nothing more than a bad memory. A nightmare that no longer exists.”

“I hope so.”

Y/n closed her eyes as she felt Doey’s fingers caress her hair. The night was quite calm. Doey’s body was cold and pleasant.

“You’re very brave,” he said.

“I have to be,” she replied. “I didn’t suffer so much for me to chicken out in the end.”

Doey hugged her firmly; he seemed to want to say something, and after several seconds, he said it:

“Why can’t I go with you?”

“Because you have to stay with the others to protect them. When we leave tomorrow, I’ll take you to a place where the explosion won’t reach you. You have to stay there to calm them and protect them.”

“Yes, but… I’m worried,” he tightened his hug. “What if something bad happens?”

“Everything will be alright, Doey.”

“But… what if it isn’t?”

Y/n was silent; she had thought about it too. What if everything goes wrong?

“Then at least you will be free.”

“Y/n,” his voice came out hard and annoyed. “How can you say that so easily?”

“My only purpose has been to free you, Doey,” she clarified. “That’s why I’ve tried so hard. I’ll do whatever it takes to free you.”

“Y/n.”

“If I see things goes wrong, I’ll make sure Kissy and Poppy can escape… at least I’ll make sure Kissy does,” she murmured the last part.

“Y/n! Stop!” Doey separated her and made her look him in the eyes while holding her by her shoulders. “Don’t talk like you don’t matter.”

“Doey, you are the ones who matter most.”

“You too!”

“I haven’t suffered so much to fail now, Doey!” she replied, and her eyes were teary. “I died once without being able to save anyone. I’m not going to let that happen again.”

“‘Died once’? What are you talking about?”

Y/n seemed to want to say something, but she closed her mouth and shook her head.

“What I mean is… that I just want you to be okay. If I see there’s no possibility of winning, then I’m going to prioritize Kissy and Poppy’s survival.”

“And you?! What about your survival?!”

Y/n looked at the floor.

“Of course, I want to live too, Doey. That’s why I’m going to try my best to kill 1006 and so, maybe…,” she sighed. “…finally stop having nightmares.”

Doey looked at her a little surprised.

“You’re still having nightmares?” he asked in a softer voice.

“Yes. Not as much as before, but… the fear and pain are the same.”

Doey hugged her again.

“Y/n, you are important and loved in this refuge. Everyone here loves you; if something happened to you, we… I…”

Y/n looked at Doey.

“You…?”

Doey put on a complicated expression. He raised one of his hands and caressed the woman’s cheek, then leaned in and kissed her cheek, then continued kissing towards her forehead until he reached her other cheek, kissed her nose, and joined their foreheads with helplessness. He continued hugging her and caressing her cheek with affection and contained pain.

“You’re very important to me, Y/n,” he declared. “If something happened to you… I wouldn’t know what to do.”

Y/n hugged him with red cheeks. She didn’t know what to answer.

“Everything will be alright, Doey.”

Doey hugged her tightly and worriedly.

“Can you promise me that?”

Y/n leaned on him and closed her eyes.

“Yes, I can,” she said. “I promise.”

Seeing the sun and the blue sky was like a wish come true for everyone. Many had dreamed and prayed for this for much of their lives, and it was finally here.

The wind and sunlight welcomed them.

They were outside. Outside the factory.

They were free.

The cries of happiness were immediate.

The toys ran, lay down on the grass, hugged, and tried to climb the trees; some stretched out their arms to feel the wind. Everything was beautiful, more beautiful than they remembered.

There were smiles, cries of happiness, and a lot of adrenaline, but Y/n knew this wasn’t the end.

She took them to an area somewhat away from the factory, but where the factory could still be seen. They were far enough away to avoid being caught in the explosion once they finished the mission.

They weren’t really far, but they were safe.

“Stay here while we go get the Prototype,” Y/n told Doey. Poppy and Kissy were saying goodbye to the others.

Doey looked at her with concern before making a decision.

It was now or never. Despite his optimism, Doey didn’t know if she was really going to return alive.

So he took Y/n and pulled her to him. He didn’t waste any more time and kissed her lips, trapping her with his arms around her.

Y/n opened her eyes wide, and her face turned completely red.

Doey lasted a few seconds before separating and looking at her firmly.

“Promise me you’ll come back. Promise me!” he demanded. “You, Poppy, and Kissy. Promise me that the three of you will come back! Promise me you’ll take care of yourself! Promise me that you’ll care about living as much as we do!”

Yn put her hands to her lips and didn’t stop looking at Doey with her face all red and her eyes wide open.

“Doey, you…” Doey joined their foreheads, holding her face in his hands.

“Promise me, Y/n. Promise me.”

Y/n put her hand on his.

“I promise. The three of us will return.”

To be continued…

Chapter Text

The factory was so desolate that Y/n thought she was back at the beginning, when she first entered, when she thought there were no dangers, when she went in search of her companions only to discover the disaster that awaited in the darkness.

She had gone through the worst horrors, fighting bloodthirsty monsters, with malicious plans, against victims of the past, against her OWN past and all her mistakes. She died and came back to life for all this to happen. She had suffered so much, but finally, they could end it all, they only had to take this last step, something that 1006 surely wouldn’t make easy for them.

Poppy was excited because finally, after all those months, her plan would be carried out: they would blow up the entire factory, they would blow it to smithereens.

Because destroying the factory is destroying 1006. Doey had explained it to her, 1006 was connected to the factory somehow, that’s why he could move freely despite being so big, that’s why he was so powerful. But all power has its weakness, and the factory was his.

They carried the bombs with them, ready to place them in strategic locations, and Y/n had her tools ready to make the entire Red Gas duct collapse, to fill everything with red gas and then blow everything up.

It was perfect. Y/n had even made special masks for Kissy and Poppy.

Y/n had read the blueprints of the entire place and was able to find the strategic locations to collapse the red gas pipes and where to place the explosives to achieve greater destruction.

All her friends were waiting outside, so they had to hurry.

“Let’s be careful,” Poppy said. “The Prototype may be injured, but that doesn’t mean he won’t fight back.”

“Besides, a wounded and cornered animal is usually more dangerous than a healthy one. Because it will attack to kill no matter what,” Y/n agreed.

“We must be silent. We’re going to have to go back down to the jail to be able to place the explosives.”

She could place the explosives on the first floor, where the Lobby was, and not risk it, but they wanted to destroy the entire place. If they only destroyed the first floor, the lower levels would be practically unharmed, and that wasn’t the goal.

“Come on, quickly,” said Poppy. “We have to finish this.”

They all agreed. She no longer wanted to be there any longer than necessary.

They went down together towards the jail area. The old dump, once full of bodies, now seemed much emptier. And no, they hadn’t eaten them.

When Y/n started hunting the Nightmare Critters and the colorful mini Huggies, many of them took refuge in the dump. It was not only easier to hide, but they could also get a lot of food there.

Now everything was much quieter than before. And that was good, because that way they could hear the Prototype coming.

First, they decided to place the explosives in strategic locations. Y/n, taking into account what happened in her past life, didn’t want to leave them in places where they would be easily accessible and in plain sight. The last thing she wanted was for 1006 to use them against her again.

So they decided to put them in places where it would be difficult for him to enter, narrow places that are not visible at first glance.

Also, to avoid being spied on, Y/n shot every security camera she found or used the Omni-hand to control the place, which made it much easier.

Everything was much easier with the Omni-hand, but they still didn’t stop paying attention to their surroundings. Anyway, 1006 had an ease of movement around the factory. And they would need more than destroying the cameras to avoid a confrontation with him.

So they were careful, but they managed to place the explosives. Now all that remained was to make all the red gas spread everywhere.

“Your turn, Y/n,” said Poppy.

Y/n smiled.

“I’ll need your help, Kissy, to reach the highest places.”

Kissy nodded and picked her up as if she were a doll in her hands.

Kissy helped her reach the high pipes that Y/n had chosen to filter the red smoke into the factory. Y/n had chosen those pipes that served as connections for multiple pipes, since the smoke arrived from different places and there was a high concentration of red smoke.

It was uncomfortable to wear the gas mask all the time, but it was necessary to avoid falling asleep and getting trapped in a loop of endless nightmares. Y/n didn’t want to get trapped again, she still remembered the Nightmare Huggy she saw chasing her in the Playcare.

“This is the last one,” Y/n said, dismantling a duct and letting the smoke filter into the Playcare, staining everything red.

With the Omni-hand, she increased the pressure, causing a large amount of red smoke to filter and reach everywhere.

“Now we have to get out of here,” said Y/n. “We have to go.”

The others nodded and started walking quickly towards the exit. Everything was silent... Too silent.

Y/n looked to the sides, the view was a little complicated with so much red smoke filtering into the environment.

“This is weird. We didn’t find any traces of 1006 in either the jail or the Playcare,” she commented.

“I hope he’s writhing in his wounds,” said Poppy.

“No. Something’s wrong. 1006 isn’t the type to stay still in the face of threats.”

They reached an area where the red gas hadn’t yet reached, but it was slowly approaching.

Then the ring of a very familiar phone echoed in the silence of the room. They all stood still and looked towards the solitary ringing phone on the other side of the room.

Riiiiiiiig

Riiiiiiiig

“Let’s go,” Poppy said, and they had barely taken a step when they heard heavy footsteps above and around them.

They all looked towards where the sounds were coming from, but they were moving in different directions. Y/n felt a déjà vu, only this time they weren’t in the dark ventilation duct as survivors of a catastrophe with their friends, but in a brightly lit exit area of the factory.

They heard heavier footsteps over the phone, making the place where it was tremble enough to make the phone fall to the ground and the call will connect.

A familiar childish voice was heard through it.

“Hello! Long time no see, huh?” Ollie’s cheerful and friendly voice was heard. “I see you’ve been busy.”

“Quick, run,” said Poppy, but then they heard something heavy fall right where they were going to escape.

“It’s rude to leave when someone’s still talking, you know?” Ollie’s voice became more serious. “Have you forgotten your manners, Poppy?”

The sounds of several metallic legs began to sound, approaching their position from the area where they were going to escape. The corridor was dark.

They backed away. Poppy and Kissy were trembling, Y/n stood in front of them (in front of Kissy), preparing to fight and protect.

“It’s too late! We’re going to blow everything up and you won’t be able to do anything to stop it! It’s your end, Prototype!”

“Ja Ja Ja,” Ollie’s voice laughed. “Really? Because I know you won’t blow anything up while you’re still here,” the footsteps sounded louder, closer, a silhouette was seen in the darkness. “IsN’t tHaT sO?”

A pair of red artificial eyes shone in the darkness and that familiar needle hand emerged from the darkness; its metallic spider or scorpion legs peeked out.

He was tall, very tall.

The red smoke had already reached the room and everything was stained red like a dense colored fog.

Then the red eyes blended with the red of the environment and 1006 stepped back, hiding in the red fog, but his heavy footsteps began to surround them. They couldn’t see 1006, but he was surrounding them.

Y/n wanted to shoot a flare, but everything was full of red smoke. If she shot, it would be the end for everyone, including them.

“Kissy, hold onto Poppy. He wants her. We don’t matter.”

“Ah, quite perceptive,” Ollie’s voice was now double, one sounded from the phone and the other was meters from them, too close, but because of the red gas, out of sight. “You’ve certainly been nothing but a nuisance since you arrived here. But I agree with you...,” the sound stopped. “ToDAY eVeRYthING eNDs hERE"

Y/n managed to step back when the Prototype’s hand appeared out of nowhere to swipe at her face.

“Watch out!” She managed to move when 1006 charged towards them.

“Don’t scatter! He wants us to separate so he can attack us more easily.”

1006 appeared and disappeared from the red smoke, always in different places and at high speed, extending his hands towards them, wanting to kill them, strangle them, destroy them and make them part of him.

It was terrifying to see an amalgam with different parts of toys that Y/n recognized. She could see Mommy Long Legs, she could see Catnap, she could see small toys of all kinds that the factory had ever made; all grotesquely but functionally attached to him.

He used Mommy’s hands trying to catch Poppy, he used Catnap’s body to see through the red gas, using Catnap’s huge claws along with his needle hand to try to tear apart Kissy and Y/n.

Y/n couldn’t use the flare gun to shoot him, so she used her other hands to try to deflect the attacks.

“Poppy. Poppy~,” Ollie’s voice cooed. “You can’t keep hiding among your friends. StOP bEING a cOWaRD!”

“Leave me alone! Leave us alone!”

“AlL tHIS iS bETwEEN yOU aND mE, PoPpY. yOU cAN’T iGnORE wHAT wE aRE!” he exclaimed. ”ArE yOU rEALLY wILLIng tO sACRIFICE yOUR fRIENDS jUST tO eSCAPE fROM mE? At tHIS mOMENT I hAVE tHE aDVANTAGE"

1006 got closer, threatening and confident.

They all knew he had enough of an advantage to destroy them. He had all the cards... Or so he thought.

There wasn’t much Poppy could do at this moment. She was small, fragile, and pathetic next to the Prototype’s strength and power.

Kissy and Y/n could fight, but Kissy had to keep Poppy safe and Y/n couldn’t see well through the red smoke, especially with that silly but necessary gas mask.

“WhAT iF wE mAKe a dEaL?" he said. “I’ll let your fRIENDS go, bUT iN eXCHANGe, yOU sTAY wITH mE”

“What?” she exclaimed in horror.

"ThE eMPLOYEE iS rIGHT aBOUT sOMETHING: tHE oNLY oNE I cARE aBOUT iS yOU. ThE oTHERS cAN gO, bUT yOU...,” he pointed at her. “...yOU cAN’T kEEP rUNNING. yOU aLREADY dID iT oNCE, rEMEMBER?" he smiled with the different heads he had. “And hOW dID iT eND? ThE sAFE hAVEN wAS wORSE tHAN eVER, aLL bECAUSE yOU dECIDED yOU wERE tOO sCARED tO fACE iT AND yOU dECIDED tO lEAVE"

“No. That’s not...”

“Don’t lIE!”

Poppy started to sob. She felt trapped, she knew what she had done was horrible, but she had tried to fix it. Although she couldn’t change the past, she wanted to at least show that she wouldn’t abandon them again, that she would work to protect them.

She did everything she could, she fought against the Prototype, she helped Doey get food, she looked after the well-being of others. She showed that they could trust her again.

She wasn’t going to abandon them. She wasn’t going to let them down again. Not the Save Haven, not Kissy, not Y/n.

1006 was right. She couldn’t keep running. If she surrendered, Y/n and Kissy could leave, they could blow up the place and everyone would be free, even if she died for that to happen.

She owed it to everyone. She had to protect her own.

“I...”

“Don’t even dream of it!” Y/n shouted. They all turned to her as she tried to protect Kissy and Poppy. “Poppy is our friend! We’re not going to leave her behind!”

“LiTTLE eMPLOYEE. dON’T yOU rEMEMBER eVERYTHING yOU sUFFEREd bECAUSE oF hER?"

“Of course I remember! Do you think I haven’t avenged myself already?!”

“What?”

“I’ve made her remember. I haven’t let her forget what she did to me! What she did to all of us! And I’ll never let her be a lazy leader! I’ll always push her to be better and shed blood until her sins are washed away! And I’m never going to let her has a peaceful life while I’m there to make her remember!”

Poppy looked at her through the mask with bright eyes. Quite surprised, especially because she knew Y/n had great reasons to hate her. And despite all that time, a part of her still believed that Y/n saw her as an enemy, but now she remembered: Y/n had promised to protect her.

The Prototype laughed.

“FiNE," with a Mommy hand, he grabbed her and pulled her away, lifting her high. ”I aGREE. aNYWAY, I’ve bEEN wANTING tO kILL yOU fOR qUITE sOME tIME”

Y/n struggled, trying to get out of his grip, but 1006 tightened his grip, causing the Grabpack to break and the hands to fall to the ground.

“Y/n!” Poppy exclaimed.

Kissy attacked, outraged by how they were treating her human friend. She bit and scratched, managing to tear several fingers off Catnap’s hands and tail. She was trying to make him let go of Y/n.

This obviously angered 1006.

“GET aWAY, tOY tRASH!" with his needle hand he attacked her, taking advantage of the fact that Kissy had approached, making claw cuts on her torso. Then he kicked her with one of his many legs, sending her flying and crashing into one of the walls.

“Kissy! Are you alright?!” Poppy shouted, trying to see how to help her.

1006 approached.

“I tRIED tO bE gOOD tO yOU, bUT I sEE iT wILL hAVE tO bE tHE hARD wAY. eXCELlENT!” he looked at Poppy. “ONcE I’vE tAKEN cARE oF yOUR fRIENDS, yOU’LL cOME wITH mE. aND tHIS tIME yOU wON’T bE aBLE tO gO”

“No,” Poppy tried to protect Kissy, but she was too small. However, that didn’t stop her from looking for something to attack with.

Poppy took a small object from her dress that served as an electric taser. One of the different ones Y/n had made and given them for self-defense.

Poppy activated it and threw it at 1006, who flinched at the electricity.

“HOW dARE yOU?!" he shouted angrily.

Suddenly, he felt the Mommy hand holding Y/n being cut. He turned and saw Y/n fall on her back and then bury something metallic.

1006 screamed in pain.

“NO ONE TOUCHES KISSY, YOU iDIOT!” Y/n shouted, furious. “HOW DARE YOU HURT HER, YOU VILE PARASITE OF HELL?!” she began to move around his body, furiously stabbing things into different parts and leaving them there.

I wasn’t going to let anyone hurt Kissy without consequences.

Y/n had used those homemade blades and knives she had made to defend herself. And if she used them well, she could defeat someone as big and powerful as the Prototype.

1006 was a living being with a body with weaknesses, so she would use them to her advantage. Y/n used the different knives she carried and stabbed them into strategic places, making deep cuts and jamming them into certain movement mechanisms of its endoskeleton, preventing it from moving easily and causing it a lot of pain.

"What are you DOING, miserable EMPLOYEE?!”

“Miserable employee, your grandmother!” she yelled, activating an electrical object similar to the one Poppy had thrown at 1006 a few moments ago, and placed it in the middle of a mechanism paralyzed by one of her knives.

Y/n jumped from the body just before the electricity began to take over the amalgam’s body.

“Y/n!” Poppy exclaimed.

“Quick! It won’t hold him for long!” Y/n quickly picked up the Omni-hand and Poppy, the latter exclaiming at being lifted so quickly.

Y/n also helped Kissy and they all ran towards the exit. Y/n used the Omni-hand to close the doors behind them, delaying the Prototype who, when the electricity stopped, removed the knives and ran after them with renewed fury.

His body was partially burned because of that employee, and now she dared to stab him and electrocute him. He would kill her slowly as soon as he caught her.

Kissy, Poppy, and Y/n reached the exit and left, but the battle was not over yet. The Prototype roared furiously, getting closer and closer to them.

The Prototype can’t leave the factory. And even if it could, they wouldn’t let it.

“Run! I’ll take care of him!” Y/n yelled.

“What are you planning to do?”

“I’m going to light the spark.” she smiled cynically.

Kissy and Poppy knew that look well.

“You better come back!” Poppy ordered as they ran away. “I couldn’t see the first kiss Doey and you shared, and I want to make sure I see the second!”

“Oh my Friend! Are you seriously thinking about that right now?!”

“You’re my noveeel!” she said, getting farther and farther away.

The roar of 1006 cut their argument short. He was approaching.

The red smoke had almost reached the exit.

“Just in time,”  Y/n thought before taking out a lighter she had found in the Playcare kitchen and had treasured with her all that time.

You always have to have a plan B, and without the flare gun, Y/n had to be prepared.

She waited for 1006 to appear in her sight to light the lighter.

Y/n smiled sweetly at him and said the words she always wanted to tell him, words he himself had said to her.

“Try to land on your feet.”

Y/n threw the lighter towards the red smoke and used the Omni-hand to close the door just as the fire came into contact with the red smoke.

Before the door closed, Y/n could see a flame engulf the Prototype.

The woman ran and ran as a huge explosion happened behind her.

Doey and the others watched as the factory where they had been locked up and mistreated for so long was finally being destroyed.

Everyone cheered happily. This was the end of the cursed factory and the Prototype.

Now all that was left was for their friends and savior’s to return.

Kissy and Poppy arrived, but Y/n wasn’t with them.

Doey approached quickly.

“Poppy! Kissy! You’re alright!”

“More or less. 1006 managed to hurt Kissy, but she’ll recover.”

Kissy was quickly attended to by the others and the supplies they took with them.

“Where’s Y/n?” he asked Poppy.

She gave a complicated look.

“I don’t know,” she replied. “She told us to run while she blew up the factory.”

Doey’s soul filled with terror. He looked down the road, but Y/n wasn’t there.

Did the explosion reach her?

“Was she very close to the factory?”

Poppy looked very worried.

“She was at the door. Maybe... maybe she didn’t manage to run fast enough.”

“We have to go look for her,” he said quickly and was about to start running when they saw a small figure covered in dirt, walking a little crookedly.

“Y/N!” they shouted at the same time.

Doey moved first and in an instant he was already beside the woman, carrying her and hugging her tightly.

“I told you to take care of yourself!! Didn’t you hear me?!!”

“I’m sorry, Doe…” She was silenced by a very deep kiss full of worry and relief from Doey.

“YES! My obsession has finally been fulfilled!!! IT WAS ABOUT TIME!” Poppy shouted happily behind them.

Y/n wanted to yell something, but Doey didn’t let her go and kept kissing her.

To be continued…

Chapter 18: EPILOGUE

Chapter Text

The months flew by, and Y/n had achieved her goals.

All the Save Haven’s toys lived near the coast, far from the old factory, now in ruins. The Prototype was dead. Everyone was safe and sound in a happy community.

They had built their own settlement using what nature provided. It was a little primitive, but functional; they had learned to fish and farm. Y/n, along with Doey and Poppy, had managed to create a homemade wind turbine from sea trash to generate energy. They even had homemade, but functional, water filters.

Now, far from the factory, Y/n taught them to be independent. She taught them to live outdoors again. Everyone was so happy to see the beach, to play in the sand, and to relearn how to swim. They could see the sky, the stars, the sunset, play, and laugh. They learned to stop surviving and started living again.

There, they weren’t experiments or orphans; they were people who, despite no longer being children, had the happiness and playfulness of children.

Y/n worked very hard to give them everything they needed. She worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was happy. Now… now they didn’t need her anymore.

Y/n thought about leaving, about leaving to not bother them. Finally, they were free and didn’t need someone to remind them of the past. Still…

“Y/n!” She looked up and saw Doey on the beach, beckoning her closer. Y/n smiled and approached. “Look! A little red crab!” He held up a finger where a tiny reddish crab was perched.

“It’s cute!”

“If it were bigger, I’d eat it.”

“It’s not good to eat raw crustaceans, Doey.”

“I’d cook it first, obviously, Y/n,” he said, giving her a quick kiss before continuing to play with the little crab.

Y/n didn’t want to leave them. She didn’t want to leave Doey.

She had never explicitly said “yes” to a relationship with him. But it’s true that she never denied it, and Doey simply accepted that they were in a relationship.

She had been very happy, but still… she was afraid, and she didn’t know what of.

After much thought, she wrote a letter for them. For Doey too, but she didn’t give it to him; instead, she left it under her own pillow and went to the beach that night to think better. There were many things to think about.

Did she want to stay? Was that selfish?

None of them had shown hostility towards her, nor did her presence seem to bother them. In fact, they often played with her, used her as a bed or armchair; some even followed her like ducklings. They didn’t hate her. Everyone was happy.

She liked seeing Kissy helping Poppy so she wouldn’t be swept away by the current. She liked watching Kissy race Doey. She liked seeing everyone smile and being among them. The settlement was primitive, but they improved it every day. Besides, there were many ways to use human ingenuity to do more things. She even thought about going to town, buying some necessary things, and returning. Maybe she could get a remote job so she wouldn’t have to leave her friends and her… official-unofficial boyfriend.

Y/n looked at the moon and stood there thinking about everything and nothing at once, trying to make a decision.

“Y/N!”

Suddenly, she was roughly pulled back by a pair of familiar arms. Y/n gasped in surprise and fright at the suddenness of it.

It was Doey… and he didn’t look very happy.

Y/n, on the other hand, felt her heart was going to leap out of her chest from the fright.

“Doey! Why…?”

“What does this mean?!” He showed her the letter she had hidden under his pillow. Y/n frowned.

“H-How did you find it?”

“I was sticking out of your pillow,” he exclaimed. “Did you really think I’d let you go just like that? Did you really think you could sneak away?”

“I wasn’t sneaking away. I was just thinking.”

“Thinking about leaving?!” He pulled her closer. “Doesn’t it occur to you that you’re not an imposter and that we want you to stay with us?”

Y/n looked at the ground darkened by night.

“I-I’m scared, Doey.”

“Of what?”

“That they’ll change their minds,” she admitted. “That one day they’ll look at me and only see an employee who…” She was interrupted when Doey kissed her and didn’t let her continue speaking. “W-What are you doing?!” she cried when he pulled away.

“Preventing you from saying stupid things.”

“They’re not stupid things!”

“They are! You’re still clinging to a past that no longer exists, Y/n. Everyone loves you here. I love you!” he said. “How dare you do this to me?!”

Y/n felt her heart beat rapidly with many emotions.

“I’m sorry! I can’t help being afraid!”

“Then don’t be!”

“It’s not that easy!”

“It is!”

“Doe-…” She was interrupted again when he kissed her, but this time he didn’t pull away after a few seconds; he stayed there until Y/n needed to breathe again.

Doey looked calmer, but very sad.

“I understand why you’re afraid. But I don’t want you to leave,” he closed his eyes. “I don’t want you to leave me,” he cradled her face in one of his hands and brought their foreheads together. “I love you. Please, don’t do this to me.”

Y/n felt like crying. She opened and closed her mouth, as if trying to figure out what to say.

“Can I really stay?”

Doey smiled.

“You can. Please, do.”

Y/n felt tears welling up in her eyes.

“Okay. Okay,” he said, wiping away her tears. “Everything’s alright. You can stay, everyone wants you to stay.”

“You love me?” That seemed to be the most important thing now.

Doey smiled sweetly.

“How could I not love you?”

Y/n felt warmth in her heart. She felt embarrassed.

“I… I love you too,” she said slowly, her face reddening with each word.

Doey laughed with relief.

“You finally said it. I waited a long time.”

“I’m sorry. I was scared.”

“Then repeat it until you’re no longer afraid.”

Y/n felt chills from the embarrassment.

“I love you… I love you, Doey. I love you…” He kissed her again; she couldn’t hold back any longer.

Y/n felt her hands make their way to Doey’s neck, where she hugged him and kissed him back.

Y/n felt her heart racing. She felt like she was going to faint, but now, finally, she felt relief.

Hand in hand, they walked back to the settlement where Doey tore up the letter, and they both sat down to watch the stars.

Y/ n leaned against him and, finally, let herself be loved.
