Work Text:

Seeing Kris grow close with Noelle again made Toriel's heart warmer. Ever since her eldest son Asriel left for college, Kris had grown estranged; they had been quiet. It concerned her for a while... but they had made friends at school and would be having a group sleepover with all of them. Toriel was ecstatic, making sure she got everything ready. Snacks, drinks, games... She made sure that they had beds set up for each child.

Friday, the last bell rang and everyone pooled out of the classroom. Susie waited by her locker for Kris to come out.

"Kris, hey dude. I couldn't pay attention to a THING. I'm kinda excited for this sleepover." She tried to look nonchalant.

Kris nodded gently, then spotted Berdly and Noelle chatting. Susie followed their gaze and put a hand up casually at them.

"Well, well, I can't believe I'm having a sleepover with Susan, Kris, and Noelle," Berdly states in his snarky remark. You couldn't tell if he was being literal with the nerdy connotation of his voice.

Noelle rolls her eyes, smiling. "My mom put up a fight. She made me pack like.. I dunno a whole suitcase for one night. She kept going on about...safety?? "

"Your mom never liked me," Kris adds.

"W-well I'm not sure about that... She loves your family."

"Yeah, Asriel."

Berdly and Susie kinda just… look at them awkwardly.

"Let's go now! God, I'm so hungry for your mom's pie, Kris..." Susie sounds desperate.

Berdly snorts in laughter.
"Oh, I'm sure you'd love that, Susie. She has it for your mom, Kris."

Kris shoots him a death glare, and Susie nearly pummels him there.

"Shut your damn mouth. Tardly, you're projecting. You'll be lucky if I don't strangle your chicken neck tonight...kidding."

"Jeez! Tough crowd today. My advanced (and hilarious humor) was no match for you snowflakes." Berdly puts his feathered finger high up.

"Shut the fu-" Susie started.

Noelle then butts in. "So! Let's go grab my suitcase from my house. Then we head to Kris's." They all share a laugh and head out of the school.

Walking up to the large and meticulously crafted gate was always intimidating for Susie. Kris was used to it at this point, and so was Berdly.

"Goddamn Noelle, why the hell can't we crash at your place some time?" Susie looked down the winding driveway in awe. "I mean, like hell. You're rich n' stuff."

Noelle blushes at the impulsive thought of Susie crashing at her house. Especially in her room. "We're not that wealthy... But, you know, my mom would never let a bunch of teens have a sleepover."

"Oh, sweet Noelle. You’re being too humble, your house is the biggest in the town." Berdly adds. "I guess, but that's the perk of being the mayor's daughter..."

A more saddened expression forms on her face. "Nobody's home any more."

Kris looks, knowing her well. They try to swiftly change the subject. "You guys are just insulting my home. So let's go before my mom calls me 100 times."

They all nod, and Noelle quickly makes her way down her driveway to grab her sleepover bag.

"Jeez. Her mom must be a stuck-up up-uhh... Deer. I hope I don't gotta meet her if she doesn't like you, Kris. I'm cooked." Susie expresses.

Berdly laughs, and Kris cracks a smile.

"She asked me to help Noelle get focused in school when she got a B+. Though I was very honored to be her mentor, Noelle is way smarter; she's the reason I pass!" Berdly surprisingly adds.

Susie chuckles. "For real, my dumbass can't even do a single homework assignment without the help of Noelle and Ral- uhh Kris." Kris shoots a glare and then nods at the correction.

"HA! Kris helping you?? With homework?"

"Shuddup asshat. They're pretty damn bright, alright?" Susie roughly pats their shoulder.

"We're all a little dumb. We must use our brain power together to stay awake for an Alphys yapathon." Kris blankly says.

Susie lets out a hardy laugh. "Dude, I can't stand it anymore. God... I like and appreciate her job, I guess, but, damn. Class is hell." Susie huffs.

Noelle runs down the driveway rolling a medium-sized suitcase.

She gets to the gate and huffs, her golden hair frazzled a bit. "Jeez... Okay..." She tries to catch her breath and then opens the gate, stepping onto the other side.

"Damn, I really thought you were joking when you said suitcase. Well, let's go; I'm freaking starving..." Susie groans.

"N-no wait.. Wait" She let out heavy breaths.

"We must haste, Noelle! No time for breathing, Ms. Toriel is waiting for us. We don't want to be rude." Berdly smirks.

"It's not that big of a deal; my mom will be fine-"

"Tsk tsk, it's called first impressions now, my dearest Kris. Maybe I can score with the moms." Berdly grins, wanting to see their reaction.

"Susie, strangle."

"I'm not your dog! But gladly." She pretends to lunge at him, and they all laugh.

Noelle locks the gate and starts to walk along with them as her breath returns to normal, but she still had a hard time lugging the suitcase to their destination.

"Let me see that, dammit. I'll roll it for you." Susie takes it from her hands, and Noelle flushes.

"You really didn't-"

"Trust me, I got it."

She smiles and tries to hide it, they continue to walk and talk about stuff until they get to Kris's house. Inside was definitely a scene.

Toriel set up some streamers and balloons. It definitely wasn't anyone's birthday, might as well be with the overboard decor.

"Dammit mom."

"Oh it's so pretty here! Is it your birthday Kris!?"

"No."

The sweet goat mother peaked her head and walked into view and greeted them. "Oh hello dears.. I'm very happy that you guys came. Please make yourselves at home." She smiled sweetly. "Nice seeing you come over after all these years, Noelle."

"Oh um, yes thank you for having me- us." She returned the smile.

Susie very much tensed up, Kris's mom was sweet but it was awkward, she had to be very polite and nothing like herself to make the right impression.

"And it's wonderful to see you again Susie."

She then shifted her gaze to Berdly. "You must be Berdly, the top of the class." She laughs softly.

"Ahem, yes, with the help of Ms. Noelle of course. It's fantastic to be here Ms. Toriel" He reaches out his wing to shake her paw.

"Oh you're very sweet," she shakes his wing. "But please, this is not school. No need for the formalities, no? You can call me Toriel. Now, please enjoy the bowl of chips I have out on the kitchen table."

Susie fumbles her boots off, "Oh hell- HECK yeah. Thank you!" She heads over and already digs in, crunching on the chips loudly.

They all head over, Kris stands by the door and greets their mom quietly, they're embarrassed at the decorations.

"What is it Kris? Dear, do you not like this?"

"The party decorations are... Definitely something."

"I thought.. It'd be appropriate for your first big sleepover party. I'm sorry you have a disdain for it."

"I wished you would treat me like I’m older sometimes"

She looks taken back for a moment. "I see, I apologize, my child. It's hard to see you grow up so fast, but I am very happy for you and your friends."

Kris looks to the side for a second. "I appreciate it, the decorations are cool. Thank you, mom."

Toriel smiles but still takes into account what they were communicating. "The pie is cooling off and I ordered pizza. So please have fun and be safe. I made beds for your friends in you and your brothers' room. Okay? I'm going out for a bit." She smiles; she hadn't done something like this in awhile.

"Oh okay. Thank you mom." They hug her and wave goodbye. Kris walks over to the kitchen and joins their friendly banter.

"Dude I'm so gonna punt you in SSF, like there's no way you're talking shit, blue bird." Susie taunts.

"Oh Susie, your trash talk as per usual is always more skilled than your actual gameplay." Berdly snorts.

"Okay you little shit. You asked for it- oh Kris, where's your mom going?"

"She said, 'out.'"

"I guess that gives us more freedom, so what're we doing?" She grabs a fistfull of chips.

"Honestly, please... Please don't make us play Super Smashing Fighters." Noelle pleaded.

Berdly and Susie collectively groaned.

"You're not a true dedicated gamer like Susan and I!" He took a heroic stance.

"Never mind. Fuck that, what else is there to do. Oh shit you know what?? Let's binge The Slashening movies! Dude they're so freaking cool."

Berdly quickly chimes in, "Agh, fine. We shall watch them then."

"Oh.. A scary movie..?" Noelle was hesitant... It's been awhile. Last time being with the Dreemurr siblings and Dess.

"We don't have to, if you don't want to." Kris offers.

Noelle smiles softly, "Oh, no that's fine. We can do that. I just want to do other stuff too!"

"Yeah I guess, we can watch the first one that's fine. Then we can play some games or something." Susie shrugs, she grabs the pie from on top of the stove and a fork from the drawer.

Kris stands in front of her, in their fighting stance.

"What? Did I say something bad?" She goes to dig in with the fork. "Why the hell do you get to eat it all?"

Kris gave that deadpan stare.

"Alright, easy bro, don't bring out the knife." She grabs a fork and hands it to them.

They sit on the couch and turn on the TV.

Kris and Susie eat directly out of the pie pan and watch the movie. Berdly and Noelle sit in front of the couch leaning back against it.

Noelle wishes she was sitting next to Susie holding onto her when she got scared, but the pie took that place.

They were scarfing it down, disgustingly loud. While watching blood and guts grace the screen, Noelle got a bit queasy. "Could you PLEASE stop chewing so loud!"

Berdly turns around to see the horrid sight. The pie was gone, both of their mouths painted in residue.

"You're mad you couldn't get any loser." Kris cleans their mouth.

"Well, I'll definitely be getting some from your mother tonight, Kris." Berdly smirks in reply before Kris tackles him and starts to strangle Berdly.

Noelles eyes widened, "GUYS! SUSIE HELP."

"HAHA! Don't worry, let them fight it out."

Berdly chokes and gasps for air, "Okay okay!! I won't say any more of my trademarked hilarious and smart remarks!"

Kris starts to strangle again.

"Okay, okay you'll kill him Kris!" Susie laughs and pulls them away.
"Do not fret dear Susan! They did not hurt me, I am a great actor." Berdly does his signature one feathered finger up.

"Oh brother. Let's finish the movie and then we can do something else." Susie rolls her eyes.

They continue to watch and the pizza comes halfway through, they eat the whole pizza pretty quickly.

"Alright I'm bored, let's do something." Susie stretches and gets up.

"Um, I brought bracelet making stuff... I know it's dumb but-" Susie then cuts Noelle off.

"Oh hell yeah! Let's do that."

Kris nods and they all head upstairs, each teen making their own bracelet, sitting in a circle on the ground.

Noelle used an assortment of pinks, oranges to make a sunset color.

Berdly makes a blue and black bracelet.

Susie uses purple and black beads to make her bracelet; Making Noelle tie the knot on it.

Kris just does the non binary flag colors.

"Oh wow Noelle, you're very good at color gradients," Berdly smiles.

She flushes, knowing what the colors mean but takes the compliment. "Thank you Berdly." She laughs softly and gazes at Susie's bracelet. "I like your bracelet, it matches your outfit."

"Thanks dude. I wanted it to match with the flannel I have."

"It really does." Noelle smiles at her, maybe for a little too long.

Susie was a dumbass, never picking up on her interest. "Hey Berdly, say the thing to Kris that they hate." Susie laughs.

"Hm...? That's vague, there's plenty I call them that they despise." Berdly responds.

"Nah, nah, the really stupid thing you can come up with." She has a dumb grin looking at Kris, they look up with a dead stare.

"Oh!! You mean m'theydy, haha! I wish I had my fedora with me."

"Explode. Now." Kris continues working on their bracelet and Susie cracks up.

"Oh man, that's the worst shit ever. No wonder why Berdly has zero women interested in him." Susie slaps her knee a few times.

"Hey! Plenty of ladies are after me. AND I was being ironic, Susie. You wouldn't understand the intricate layers of my humor."

"My point still stands."

Noelle laughs softly, Berdly did have that level of humor where you couldn't tell if he was joking or not.

They finish up their bracelets and just talk for a while. Kris sits up on their bed, and the other three lay on their sleeping bags as they chat about school and their projects.

"Hey guys I'm getting tired, I'm ready for bed. " Noelle states quietly.

"Ugh, fine. Kris turn off the light." She gets under the blanket and tries to get comfortable. "Um, Kris do you have like, extra pj's or something? I don't- didn't bring mine."

They shrug and get up, and they look through their closet. "These?" Holding up small skinny jeans.

"Okay smartass."
They go back looking and pull out some Christmas pj's that they wear during a family photo. "All I have. Well, they're Asriel's."

"God.. Damn.. Christmas."

"Hey!" Noelle pouts.

Susie goes to change and comes back.

"Aw Susie... They're cute." Noelle blushes

"Shuddup. Not actually but, shuddup." She climbs into her sleeping bag next to her and Berdly.

Noelle laughs at her comment and they all stay quiet for a bit.

Kris broke the silence in a nasally nerd voice. "Plenty of ladies are after me"

Susie bursts out in laughter for a solid 30 seconds while Berdly yells at her to shut up.

Noelle groans a bit as the cycle of it becoming silent, Susie or Kris will say the phrase and laughter will ring out. "You guys suck, I'm trying to sleep." Noelle groans into her pillow.

"Honestly, I don't-" Susie couldn't finish her sentence before snorting out a laugh. "I don't think- the ladies are after me." The two goons start laughing again.

"Why did I agree to this? Why? Why." Berdly groans.

"Okay, okay. We'll go to bed. It's not funny anymore." Susie's grin doesn't falter.

Berdly gives an annoyed stare of exhaustion.

Kris snickers from their bed, looking down at them laying on the floor. "Goodnight losers." Susie yawns.
