Basically this is summarizing the lore and quick character info things

Chapter Text

Disclaimer: This is NOT Solarballs fanwork!!! There may be a few references or similarities but this is in no way related to Solarballs. If I do write fanfics for Solarballs, then it will be tagged as Solarballs! This concept was originally conceived when I was 11!

They are like 5th dimensional beings or gods and goddesses in an astral world. They’re represented by the celestial bodies in the real world universe

The Sun has his own palace as well as a whole kingdom. Before the real Solar System formed, he selected the gods and goddesses who would be represented by the future planets. He gave each one their own area in his kingdom to have rule over.

Though there are many in the Sun’s Kingdom, not everybody is represented in the Real Universe.

The ones who are represented by celestial bodies are connected to it, meaning that if it’s destroyed, it will result in the god or goddess dying. But it doesn’t usually come as a sudden death, it most cases, there is an event that coincidently happens at the same time. An example being how Theia died during childbirth at the same time her planet collided with Earth’s.

There are events of GHE that occur, however, Iris is still completely different.

Planet X is named Erebus

Venus and Earth are twins

Mars had a twin named Phaeton but he died, he also has a younger sister which is Eris Xena

Neptune and Erebus are twins

Venus and Mercury are married and have children

Jupiter and Saturn are married and have children

Uranus and Neptune are engaged, they have a blended family

In the Solar System, there’s a process referred to as “Earning your mark” which is when someone completes a big task or overcomes a huge obstacle and is rewarded with their Astronomical mark appearing on the left arm like a tattoo. This will usually make their powers stronger or result in extra powers.

Deceased Gods:
Vulcan
Theia
Phaeton
Amphitrite

Chapter 2: Sun

He has an issue of favoritism.

Relationships:

Hermes/Mercury- In the beginning, Sun didn’t really want Mercury to be represented by a planet in his system. He only let him in because he took pity on him and Mercury had nowhere else to go, then he detected him as a God and kept him. Since Mercury has super speed and delivers messages quickly, Sun began to like him as he saw use in him and eventually started to trust him like a friend. He even helped in putting together Mercury and Venus’ wedding.

Vulcan- Sun was wary of him since his powers included fire which made heat and light just like him. However, Vulcan used his powers to forge weapons and armory so he became a Blacksmith for the Solar System. Sun was aware of Vulcan’s feelings towards Venus which is why when he knew of her relationship with Ares, he told Vulcan who trapped the two in a net and humiliated both of them which resulted in their breakup. Vulcan’s flames were also key to Earth saving the Sun.

Aphrodite/Venus- Their relationship is complicated. It’s argued that she was one of his favorites because she’s beautiful. Venus had the potential to sustain life which was why Sun started to give her more attention and praise, treating her as The Golden Child. He also did not approve of her relationship with Ares so he told Vulcan about it so he would take revenge which caused their breakup, Venus cursed Sun so that nobody would ever fall in love with him, it was a blessing in disguise. But years later, as things got worse for Venus, she accidentally killed Vulcan in her deteriorating mental state after her firstborn daughter died which resulted in Sun punishing her by shooting her with a large Solar Flare and destroying her planet’s surface. Venus lost all her capability to sustain life on her planet and her appearance also began to change over the course of a few million years. Sun no longer favored her for what she did. And while Sun is still close friends with Mercury, things are awkward and tense between him and Venus. Venus still holds resentment after seeing Sun’s true colors and Sun rightfully is still upset over the Vulcan situation.

Earth/Gaia- Sun did not like Earth so much for a while. He took pity on Earth and Venus when he met them and allowed them to stay in his palace. Since he made Venus part of his system, he figured it would be only fair to make Earth part of his system as well. They had respect for each other until Earth began to date Theia and Sun started to look down on her a little. He also wasn’t too fond of Earth as she entered a rebellious phase and began to wear shorter dresses, lower cuts, piercings, and start protests and revolutions. After a while, he found himself eventually agreeing with her and listened to her more often. His respect for her increased after she sacrificed herself so he would live. This was also how Earth earned her mark and her powers increased. Once she developed life, Sun began to treat her like the golden child of the whole System.

Theia- There is no doubt that Theia was his favorite. He believed Theia was pure, beautiful, and innocent. Her powers allowed her to see where all the Gods/Goddesses were at just like Sun’s power so he treated her almost like a daughter. He was also proud of the fact that she wanted to sustain life on her planet. He made Theia and Gaia share the same portion of his kingdom believing that Theia’s purity would get Gaia in line. However, Theia ended up not only encouraging Gaia’s rebellious behavior, she even joined in much to Sun’s chagrin. Nevertheless, he ended up eventually respecting Gaia and approved of their relationship and helped set up their wedding day. He was very ecstatic when the couple announced they were having a baby and did all he could to provide the couple help in preparation. Because Erebus indirectly caused her death, he banished him. But his pain and grief was so strong he hid away any record of her and swore everyone to secrecy not to tell Earth after she woke up with amnesia, he believed this was sparing her.

Luna Selene- Since she’s the daughter of Earth and Theia, Sun treats her almost like a granddaughter. She’s allowed to enter and exit his palace whenever she pleases, not needing permission. Sometimes she reminds him of Theia. He’s very proud of Luna for having some of Theia’s powers. When she was little, Sun would often come by Earth’s house just to see Luna and tell Earth how her daughter is so beautiful and special, even telling Earth she’s doing a great job in raising her on her own.

Mars/Ares- Sun usually likes Mars and even has friendly conversations with him, however he isn’t too fond of Ares since he likes to mock Sun and behaves recklessly at times. Since Venus was one of his previous favorites, he did not approve of her relationship with Ares which is why he indirectly caused their breakup. Sun didn’t give Mars much attention growing up but he still liked him, he likes how Mars’ planet has the possibility to have life.

Phaeton- Phaeton was one of his favorites, likely due to how Phaeton practically worshipped him and did everything he said no questions asked. But Phaeton caused his own demise when he took the Sun’s chariot and kept burning everything with it. Sun told Jupiter to knock him out of the sky with his lightning bolts but neither one of them realized it would kill him until it was too late. This is one of the only times where Sun himself took the blame.

Jupiter/Zeus- He was his very first planet/god and had the possibility of becoming a star so the two were close when they were younger. The Sun put too much responsibility and pressure on him as a child which caused Jupiter to have several mental issues growing up. The Sun gave Jupiter The Great Red Spot on his eye as a punishment for The Grand Tack, but it could have been avoided had Sun actually helped Jupiter learn to control his powers and gave him the emotional support he needed. This is also why The Sun put a limit on all their powers until they earned their marks. He prepared Jupiter in becoming the King of the Planets which basically meant he was babysitting everyone and had more responsibilities than everyone else. Jupiter is clearly his favorite planet, but is also the one he traumatized the most which is why none of the giants like The Sun so much because they were witnesses to how he treated Jupiter sometimes.

Kronos/Saturn- She was his first Goddess, he expected a lot from her. But when Saturn had developed paranoia and seemingly started to lose her mind, he locked her away in Tartarus for years instead of getting her help. When Jupiter defied The Sun by leading everyone on a mission to save her, he had made a deal that she could stay, but she must work hard on earning her mark or else he would send her out. He didn’t like her that much when she began rebelling and he wasn’t that fond of her and Jupiter’s not-so-chaste relationship but eventually learned to accept it, mainly due to the fact that he knew how powerful their children would be.

Erebus- He was clearly his least favorite, Sun often used him as a scapegoat and his double standards usually showed when it came to him. He got annoyed at how often he’d fight with Uranus which is why he was shocked when they began dating each other, but he didn’t really care so he wasn’t really bothered by their drama over the years. Similar to Jupiter, Erebus also lacked emotional support from The Sun which is why he also couldn’t control his powers which caused a lot of unfortunate stuff to happen on accident. But, he blamed Erebus for the death of Theia and ordered Jupiter and Saturn to eject him, meaning that Erebus would be banished for billions of years before he would be allowed back in.

Uranus- Sun decided to let him stay at the palace due to sensing that Uranus was a powerful god. However, he was annoyed because Uranus (Who was a girl back then) did not behave like a Goddess and was an aggressive troublemaker who constantly got into fights with others. But then when Uranus was the first one to Earn His Mark, Sun gave him more attention and actually started using him to do awful things like assassination of another Star System. He also arranged a marriage for Uranus between Pontus who was from another System who had recently moved to The Solar System, this was to form an alliance and bring peace (And because he knew Uranus would have powerful children.) Uranus only agreed because he was friends with Pontus before and because he was aware that Pontus had feelings for him. But everything went downhill and it took years but Uranus finally got a divorce from Pontus. Sun said some awful things to Uranus as an adult which is why the two constantly avoid each other. He didn’t have an issue with Uranus transitioning into a man but it did take him some time to get used to.

Amphitrite- Unlike the others, Amphitrite is a nymph, a Nereid to be exact. Sun selected her to be represented by a Giant Planet due to her capability which was a bold move at the time since this was during Eons when Nymphs were still looked down on. For a while she did not actually live in the palace but lived with her family instead, so because of that, it was actually a long time until everybody met her. Eventually she decided to move into the palace with everybody else, she was Sun’s favorite due to her kind nature and her shyness, reminding him of his much younger self. Because of that, he believed her to be pure as well—He was far from the truth. He wasn’t too surprised of her relationship with Neptune and legitimately thought they were a cute couple. Amphitrite’s death hit him hard and it is speculated that this was also when he started to show resentment towards Uranus since he survived what happened to both of them.

Neptune- Sun used to play with Neptune all the time when they were younger, but eventually Sun realized he needed to grow up and be more serious so there was less time to play. He admired how Neptune was such a smart kid and also the one who could plan a great party, Sun loved how Neptune was with children and knew he would make a fun father in the future with Amphitrite. However, Sun was also concerned that Neptune wasn’t very responsible so he “taught” him responsibility by making him constantly have to be on patrol for the entire kingdom, meaning Neptune was kind of isolated away from everyone for years. The reason for why Sun had put pressure on Neptune to do things like earn his mark and learn some responsibility is because he knew Amphitrite had a crush on Neptune and that the feeling was mutual, but he wanted Neptune to be ready for the relationship so that they’d be a stable couple, and it worked. Sun also was there for Neptune and his kids after the death of Amphitrite.

Notes:

Wow, Sun really did a number on everybody—

He has his own trauma with being a star but unfortunately, this is a case of where his own trauma blinded him to see how he was hurting everyone else :/

I would have added Eris and Pluto but, I’ll save them for another chapter…

Chapter 3: Mercury

Summary:

Oh man, it’s so difficult to write relationships…

Hopefully the images show up—

Anyway yeah! Mercury generally has a positive relationship with everyone
(The Giants are the ones who’ll you see have more complicated relationships with others)

He/Him

Earned his mark by pushing himself to fly super fast in order to catch a falling Saturn
His mark increased his super speed and feather magic, because of this, Mercury believes he got screwed over by the Universe and has the weakest powers

He’s also a shepherd for Earth’s sheep.

Relationships:

Sun- Mercury was all alone when he formed, alone and afraid. One day he found his way outside of The Sun’s Palace where a much younger Nemesis noticed him and brought him inside, showing him to Sun and suggesting that he should be represented by the planet closest to him since there was only one more left (That they knew of) and Mercury clearly had divine blood. Sun only did so because he felt sorry for him but didn’t give him much attention in childhood, though he did have appreciation for him when Mercury did things like make him a new lyre when his broke. Eventually Sun saw use in his powers and just made him the delivery boy. As Mercury got older and matured, Sun had actual conversations with him finally started bonding with him. Despite everything Sun has done, Mercury cannot bring himself to actually hate him and instead, he constantly goes Therapy-Mode on him. Mercury is also aware he will die when The Sun enters his Red Giant Phase but he’s accepted his fate.

Venus- It took a while but they became friends as kids. Mercury developed a crush on her during their “Teens” but was too shy to say anything because Venus was constantly going on dates and had a couple of past relationships. Because of it, he would deliver all of her fan mail but would sneak in a secret admirer letter from himself. It was a very long time until he finally got the courage to confess his love for her, which was met with a kiss since Venus knew the entire time he had feelings for her but she wanted to make sure he loved her for more than her beauty first. They are happily married with their children and both are okay with the fact that they will die together when The Sun goes Red Giant.

Neith- For so long, Mercury and Venus feared that they wouldn’t be able to conceive a child, so Neith’s birth felt like a miracle for both of her parents. Even if Neith took more after her mother, she still always made time to go fly around the sky with him. Though she was a little jealous of how he spoiled her cousin Luna. Mercury’s biggest regret is that he never got the chance to say goodbye to her or tell her that he loved her one last time before she died.

Atlantiades- She’s actually closer with Mercury than she is with Venus due to having similar interests and powers. Mercury loves how excited she gets at the thought of being a delivery girl and taught her everything she needed to know in order to be a great delivery girl. While she does possess super speed just like her father, her wings are actually very small which makes her a very weak flyer so Mercury would always have her on his back while he’d fly so that she’d at least get to experience what it feels like to be flying so high and fast

Zoozve- Zoozve also loves to join Mercury on his delivery runs, however, she’s not interested in being a delivery girl like her sister and is interested in other things. What he loves about Zoozve is how she’s eager to try a lot of things and he’s excited to see what kind of person she grows up to be. She also loves to watch him when he does his job of being a shepherd.

Vulcan Eros (Son)- While Mercury initially opposed the idea of naming his son after Vulcan (God of Forge) after his death, he eventually gave in and let Venus name him Vulcan because she wanted to honor him, they took a page out of Earth’s book and gave him two names so that it wouldn’t get confusing. What really impressed Mercury was how smart he was at a young age, Vulcan would build miniature robots until he moved on and decided he wanted to be a carpenter instead. However, Mercury also fears that Vulcan is a little too independent and wants for him to interact with at least one person outside the house every week.

Caduceus- He was born somewhere around present time. His birth was certainly a surprise but his parents were happy to have another child nonetheless. Caduceus may be the fastest of all of his siblings since Venus’s pregnancy had oddly been quicker this time around. Mercury temporarily stopped doing his jobs so that he could spend more time with Caduceus and Venus at home, he was fortunate enough that his kids offered their services to get the jobs done for him.

Vulcan (God of Forge)- With them both technically being the youngest of the planets, it’s no wonder that they were usually together. Mercury was upset when Sun sealed his powers of super speed so Vulcan made him winged shoes in order to run fast until his speed was returned to him. Because of this, Mercury still puts feathers on his shoes to resemble wings. Vulcan is also the one who made Mercury his winged cap as a kid. But in their teen stage, Mercury had a rivalry with him and Ares since they all wanted Venus’ love and attention. Ultimately, Mercury won. But Vulcan was a little bitter over the fact that Venus never gave him a chance and unfortunately it showed because Venus usually got into arguments with him and Mercury was always the mediator. But one day Venus lost her mind due to her grief over her dead daughter and just threw him into The Solar Fire at The Sun’s Palace. Mercury regrets not being able to de-escalate their drama.

Earth- Earth was one of his closest friends in childhood and still is to this very day. They would both play games with Uranus all the time. Earth was well aware that Mercury had a crush on her sister so it made her happy once they finally got together as an official couple. He spoils Luna to get “Revenge” on Earth for constantly spoiling his kids with gifts and sweets. Due to his love of sheep, Earth allows him to take care of her sheep. When the revelation of Theia happened, Mercury ended up being the first person Earth talked to about it since Luna was concerned about her mom’s mental state deteriorating.

Theia- Theia was one of his friends when he was young and often asked her for girl advice. She was the one who got him to bond with The Sun. They also were pen pals since Theia used to slip notes under everyone’s doors and he was the only one who would hold entire conversations with her with ease. He still misses her and was one of the first to break the vow by secretly asking everyone how they were feeling and giving them the chance to grieve.

Luna Selene- Mercury loves his niece and spoils her often with gifts. However he is extremely concerned for her mental health and often tries to suggest that she get therapy or at least talk to somebody, but Luna is stubborn and doesn’t want to be vulnerable so Mercury tries to help her find other forms of expression which slowly made progress.

Obscura Night- Unlike Luna, Obscura is a little more open about her feelings and has actually told Mercury about her identity issues and how she feels like Luna never lets her actually live. Mercury suggested that she just try as many activities as possible so that she can finally develop her own personality instead of just being “Luna’s other personality”

Mars- Mars actually taught Mercury how to fight in case of a war when they were younger. They weren’t that close when they were young but they did eventually become like besties. They sought comfort in each other since their daughters died at the same time and they grieved together. Mercury was happy when Mars became part of the family due to marrying Earth many centuries later and welcomed him with open arms. Sometimes they get drunk and play stupid card games with Venus, Earth, and Ceres

Ceres- Because Ceres ran away to the live in the woods (Technically the Asteroid Belt) as a kid, Mercury never actually met them until he got older. He didn’t meet Ceres until they started working in Earth’s farms and was a little scares of them because they were usually so silent and soft spoken but seemingly just appeared out of nowhere. And Mercury once accidentally trampled all over their crops while running which resulted in him getting chased by them who had a sickle. Earth, Mars, and Ceres all got married to each other so Mercury does see Ceres often, they like to pull little pranks on him much to his annoyance. But overall, their relationship is good.

Jupiter- Mercury and Jupiter are friends, they have always been on good terms with each other. A younger Jupiter always suspected that Mercury may be some sort of secret genius but is saddened that Mercury never reached his full potential. Jupiter also tried to help get Mercury a chance to talk to Venus by stealing one of Venus’ sandals and giving it to Mercury so that by the time she came looking for it, they’d have a chance to talk. Mercury also once got drunk with Jupiter and Neptune and they combined their powers which then made a strange entity they refer to as “Orion”

Saturn- Saturn has always been kind to Mercury which is why he was more than willing to be one of the ones who distracted The Sun while everyone went to rescue her from Tartarus. They may not be besties but they are still friends

Uranus- Mercury is forever grateful for Uranus’ friendship. He enjoys racing against him and even rubbing it in his face a little about how Uranus will never win against him. If they aren’t racing, then they’ll usually just chill with each other in the clouds. Sometimes he wonders if Uranus constantly asking about his day is what made him more introspective and observant of others. He does feel bad for never suspecting what was going on with Uranus as they got older and wishes he could have done more to help.

Erebus- Mercury has always been a little intimidated by him and feared him even more when Erebus kept making so many mistakes that resulted in others getting severely hurt, especially once Theia died.

Amphitrite- She was always polite to him when they first met each other, she also taught him how to read since she noticed that no one else stepped up. He also briefly had a crush on her when he was younger but figured he was just interpreting her kindness the wrong way and eventually got over his little crush. The two remained good friends until her death. Mercury still keeps the old seashell necklace she made him somewhere in his room (Since it no longer fits him) Her compassion influenced him to always be kind to others, which he then taught to his own children.

Neptune- Neptune always wanted to play with him when they were young and was more than happy when Uranus started bringing Mercury and Earth around to hang out with them. Neptune loved to show him little sea creatures that Mercury referred to as “Sea Sheep.” He also taught Mercury how to swim and how to hold his breath for long in case of an emergency. Their relationship is overall positive.

Chapter 4: Vulcan

Chapter Text

Vulcan

Nicknames: God of Forge, The Blacksmith

He/Him

Trans FTM

Powers:
Pyrokinesis
Increased building speed (Post earning his mark)
The ability to build whatever he thinks of (Post earning his mark)

Innovative Vulcan was the former blacksmith of the entire Solar System and created numerous weapons that are handled by his fellows Gods and Goddesses. Unfortunately, he met his end when Venus threw him into the Solar Fire

He earned his mark by building himself a device to help him walk since his legs were badly injured when he was younger

His mark gave him the power to build whatever he could think of, and it increased his building speed

Relationships:

The Sun- Sun detected him as a God as they walked past each other outside near the market place where Vulcan was foraging for food, Sun took him back to the palace and made him part of his system, naming him Vulcan. Vulcan knew Sun was growing wary of him due to his powers being almost identical to his and feared him as being potentially dangerous. But Vulcan won him over by fixing Sun’s chariot after noticing it had been broken. Sun was impressed by this skill and made him the blacksmith. However, Sun was also aware that Vulcan had feelings for Venus so he used him in order to break up Ares and Venus.

Mercury- Vulcan often would use Mercury as his test dummy for his latest inventions until Mercury eventually had enough and decided he no longer wanted to be apart of it. Vulcan did however make him some winged sandals and a winged cap. Their friendship became a little strained over time though Mercury wanted to fix everything. But Vulcan was stubborn.

Venus- Venus was the only one who knew Vulcan was Trans and helped him out when he was having issues like period cramps. She also helped him in order to get surgery and even convinced Earth to use her healing powers to speed up the recovery process by telling her “He just hurt himself” in order to keep the secret. Vulcan ended up falling for her since she was so supportive and actually kept his secret for him. But she never reciprocated which broke his heart and turned him bitter. He was upset when Sun told him about how Venus was sleeping with Ares, so Vulcan humiliated them by trapping them in a net. That was when the drama between Vulcan and Venus had first started which only worsened. One day he got into a heated argument with her which then resulted in his own demise. In death, he managed to transfer his fire powers to Venus

Earth- They weren’t that close, but Vulcan did build her a lot of great gardening tools. He also gifted her a harpe sword for when she decided to rebel and fight in battles during a time when Sun wouldn’t allow his Goddesses to fight in battles, Earth still uses it on occasion.

Theia- In the eyes of Vulcan, he thought she was stuck up and annoying and never understood why Venus used to have a crush on her. Nevertheless, he still built her a huge scythe to use. He also didn’t like her because of how Sun praised her for being so similar to him when he also distrusted Vulcan for having similar powers to him.

Mars/Ares- Vulcan strongly disliked Ares. And Mars always annoyed Vulcan since he wasn’t as smart as him. But Vulcan did build him a spear and shield, and a helmet for battles

Phaeton- Most likely he was Vulcan’s best friend, they enjoyed each other’s company. But Vulcan was distraught when Phaeton died in The Sun’s chariot and wishes he could have adjusted the chariot better so that he would have survived. This is what started Vulcan’s path of fixing anything that is just slightly damaged

Ceres- They were never close. But he did build them their own gardening sickle that never breaks.

Jupiter- These two loved to build gadgets together, it was one of their favorite ways to pass the time. Before Jupiter started to be able to summon Lightning bolts on his own, Vulcan used to forge them himself

Saturn- Vulcan didn’t really care much for Saturn, but was just a little involved with her rescue mission from Tartarus as he did think it was harsh of Sun to send her down there. He also built her new sickles when her last ones broke, and he gave her a huge scythe too.

Uranus- He usually teased Vulcan for being a nerd and called him “Jupiter Jr” because of it. Vulcan also built him a Bow to use his arrows with. Uranus used to test out his newer gadgets since Mercury decided he no longer wanted to do it anymore

Erebus- They didn’t interact much, but Vulcan did build him a blade to use in battles. The two had a mutual respect for each other

Amphitrite- They weren’t close but she had a lot of respect for him and often praised him for being such a genius. He did build her a trident so she could match with Neptune per her request

Neptune- Neptune had a tendency to accidentally break some of his stuff while working which made Vulcan irritated by him. When The Sun said that the Gods (Not including the Goddesses) needed weapons, Vulcan built Neptune a trident to help him control water since his powers were weaker back then

Notes:

If you’re wondering, Vulcan was very introverted and that only made him more of a loner after Phaeton died so that’s why he didn’t really have much friendships and he wasn’t close to people on an emotional level

(Next is Venus!)
