Chapter Text
Princess Zelda had had another dream of a green child from the forest. She'd been having those a lot lately, and dreams of that ganondorf man being evil, but her father never wanted to listen. Thought he had everything under control, that foolish man. Well, not this time! As soon as she saw the forest child she knew it was time for her daring escape, just as her dreams had told her. "Hey, tree boy! Come on you're busting me out of here and we're gonna take down ganondorf!" The boy looked very confused, but agreed readily. On their way passed the guards, she explained more in depth, "I've had a dream of the future, I am to accompany you to gather all three spiritual stones and visit the great fairies. I'm so excited! I've never been out of castle town, did you know? Probably not, we've just met after all. Let's go!" Suddenly, Impa appeared in a flash of light, and put a strong hand on top of Zelda's head so she couldn't go forward. "And you never thought to inform me of your plans, princess?" Zelda squirmed a bit, then blinked up at her guardian with her biggest, sparkliest puppy eyes. Impa finally sighed and gave her a soft smile. "Luckily for you, I fully believe your stories. I fear you will be much safer outside the castle with this boy than you would be here, even with myself to guard you." She handed her young charge a pile of traveling clothes and gave her a final pat on the head, then turned to fix the boy with a stern gaze. "You defend the princess with your life, or else I will take it myself." The boys eyes went huge and he stepped back, but Zelda only rushed forward to give her a hug and a squeaky thank you then grabbed his hand and took off down the garden path. "Goodbye, Impa!!" And just like that, Zelda was free.
Ten minutes later they were back in the garden. "I can't believe I forgot to show you Ganondorf. Look through here, there he is!" The two children squished together and stared through the shoebox sized window in the wall at the tall scary man bowing to the king. The gerudo man suddenly turned his head sharply and grinned a nasty grin at them, and Zelda jumped back with a start, but Link only stuck his tongue out at him. Turning back to Zelda, he made a face. "Ugh, he's got a big pointy nose." Zelda giggled. "Um, Link, you have a big pointy nose." Link nodded enthusiastically, "exactly! Big pointy noses are very handsome, and a man like that doesn't deserve to have one!" The two fell into giggles at that. Zelda was pretty sure she just made her first ever best friend, and they were gonna kick gannondorf"s ass.
