Chapter Text

24 years ago, The Great War begun; the aura of the battlefield was tense, the fear of being killed by the enemy was sky-rocketed, the overwhelming feeling of adrenaline was high, and the feeling of losing your comrade in the battlefield... it was all too exhausting, even for the strongest people in the world.

Millions of people died in the battlefield, many of the soldiers were killed just from breathing that toxic nuclear waste that lingered in the battlefield.

And the people who survived? They ended up being highly affected by it, both physically and mentally.

It could easily be considered the most deadliest and tragic war to happen in decades.

Eventually a peace treaty was signed between the two sides alongside an important agreement

An agreement to make peace between every continent in the world, and teach future generations about the importance of world peace between their countries

This was the start of the creation of...

Chapter Text

Yokohama, Japan - Tuesday 7:47 AM

The sun had recently risen up after a rainy but calm night; a sound of a nebulizer machine could be heard from a young girl's bedroom, it was quite noisy but the residents of the house were already used to it at this point

The young girl stirred in her sleep, feeling a bit dazed as she opened her eyes slowly, she took notice of her surroundings before sitting up against the headboard

Name: Akutima Akutagawa - Age: 13 - Ability: The Red Moonlight - Parents: Ryuunosuke Akutagawa & Atsushi Nakajima

Akutima turns off the nebulizer machine on her nightstand and takes off the breathing mask, putting it on top of her nightstand. She raised her arms above her head to stretch before hearing a knock on her bedroom door

Akutima: "Come in!" She yelled out, seeing her older brother open the door

Name: Ryuushi Akutagawa - Age: 16 - Ability: Crimson Beast - Parents: Ryuunosuke Akutagawa & Atsushi Nakajima

Ryuushi: "Good morning, father already made breakfast and prepared our school agenda for the day"

Akutima: "Ugh again? I swear i already finished everything though" She replied as she sighed

Ryuushi: "You know that school program is always pumping out homework to their students nonstop" He says, crossing his arms

Akutima: "Yeah unfortunately" She responded, her eyes rolling slightly

Ryuushi: "Anyways you better go down for breakfast, you know how dad gets when you skip meals" Ryuushi said as he remembered the times Atsushi would be super anxious about Akutima getting in some form of accident if she didn't eat enough

Akutima: "I'll be there in a sec" She replied as she saw Ryuushi leave the room and close the door

She got off the bed and made her way over to her vanity, taking off her bonnet and letting her split black and white hair free. She started putting them in pigtails using bright violet ribbons like she always did, she eventually finished tying them up as she stood up from the vanity chair and went out of her bedroom

Her steps were rather silent, her slightly fluffy slippers hitting the cold stone floor as she went down the stairs. The house was quite modern to say the least; everything was covered in dark gray accents, from the walls and even to the floors. It was no secret that the person who owned this house was quite wealthy, which was true considering the man who owned it was a dangerous mafioso for the Port Mafia

Akutima made her way downstairs as she saw her dad Atsushi in the kitchen, cooking up breakfast for his family. He seemed to be in a slight hurry, which wasn't odd since he did work for the Armed Detective Agency

Atsushi: "Ah, good morning sweetheart!" He says, taking notice of Akutima coming down the stairs

Akutima: "Morning dad!" Akutima replied back, going up to him and hugging him from the side

Atsushi: "Did my little cub sleep well?" He asked as he slightly ruffled her hair

Akutima: "Mhm, are you and dad gonna be working overnight today?"

Atsushi: "Probably not, though i doubt your father won't stop working until the evening"

Akutima silently sighed before she noticed her other dad Akutagawa walking down the stairs, already ready to go to work

Akutima: "Papa!" She exclaimed, running up to him and hugging him

Akutagawa: "Good morning my niña, did you sleep alright?" He responded as he hugged her back, kissing her forehead as well

Akutima: "Mhm i did"

Akutagawa checked his watch before speaking up again

Akutagawa: "We have to leave in a few minutes Jinko, are you done with breakfast?"

Atsushi: "Yep, just call Ryuushi over?" He responded as he placed Ryuushi and Akutima's plate on the dining table

Yokohama, Japan - Tuesday 8:27 AM

The two siblings ate breakfast together at the dining table after their fathers left for work; they were both very quiet as they ate their scrambled eggs and sausages, the silence was broken by Ryuushi as he spoke up

Ryuushi: "Y'know you would be ranting about stupid shit by now, what's up?" He asked; he asked in a slightly rude tone, but it was clear to Akutima he was a bit worried

Akutima: "It's just- i don't know i've just been feeling lonely these past few weeks..." She quietly admitted, her tone slightly unsure

Ryuushi: "Lonely like what?"

Akutima: "Like we're always inside the house, we barely go outside and the only times we do go outside we're just taking care of Byakko. I don't know, it just feels super exhausting not having any actual friends..."

Ryuushi: "Hey, at least you got Byakko"

Akutima: "Cabrón every time i go and feed her, she just keeps trying to bite my ankles!" She exclaimed, remembering the times she almost got absolutely mauled by the family's pet tiger Byakko

Ryuushi: "That's because she thinks your playing with her, y'know she likes to play aggressively" He explained, crossing his arms

Akutima: "Whatever... i'm gonna go do my homework upstairs" She responded, putting her plate on the sink and exiting the kitchen

Ryuushi: "No te jodas en las tareas!" He yelled at her, obviously to tease her

Akutima: "Vete pa la mierda pendejo!" She exclaimed back, gaining a chuckle from Ryuushi

Yokohama, Japan - Tuesday 7:32 PM

After a long day of working almost all day, the two siblings finally finished doing their schoolwork and were now waiting for their dads to come from work. Eventually the siblings heard the front door opening, meaning their parents had finally came home

Akutima: "Welcome back!" She said as she waved at both of her fathers. Atsushi was the first to approach the both of them, hugging them and kissing their faces

Atsushi: "How are my little cubs doing? Did you two behave?"

Ryuushi: "Don't worry dad, we're fine" He spoke up as he let Atsushi go

Atsushi: "I'm glad" Atsushi paused for a second before he spoke up again "Well actually me and your father need to have a talk with you two" Atsushi said, his tone seemed to be very serious and straight-forward

Akutima: "Is everything okay...?" She curiously asked, her tone was a bit worried to hear what her dads were going to discuss

Atsushi: "Yeah don't worry everything's alright but we do need to explain some news" He explained, his tone was soft but clear to make Ryuushi and Akutima alert

They were all sat on the dining table as both Atsushi and Akutagawa explain the news to the children

Akutagawa: "You two already know about the Great War and everything correct?" He asked in a slightly cautious tone, making the two children nod

Atsushi: "Well when the Great War ended, in order for the two sides to stop fighting they made a deal to make peace between every continent of the world, and make other future generations learn about the importance of peace between our lands" He explained carefully to the two siblings

Ryuushi: "And how did they make peace with each other?" He asked

Akutagawa: "Well they opened the Special Gifted Powers Academy, it's basically just big schools made up of ability-users all around the world"

Akutima: "So... what does this have to do with us?"

Atsushi: "Well as you both know, you have developed your special abilities and well... they asked if maybe you guys would like to join the Academy..."

The both siblings were left in shock - the thought of going to an actual school was something they never thought would happen. The both of them were silent for a moment to process everything before coming back to their senses

Akutima: "Your saying we can go to an actual school?" She asked with excitement and anticipation. Atsushi nodded as he smiled at the sight of his daughter's eyes shining with excitement

Akutima: "Then yes! I accept!" She exclaimed with excitement as she hugs Atsushi

Atsushi: "What about you Ryuushi?"

Ryuushi: "I guess i could try it out" He said in a nonchalant tone, but Atsushi knew deep down he was super excited

Akutagawa: "The applications are tomorrow at 6:00 AM so you better get some sleep and not stay up late okay?"

Akutima: "Okay! I pinky promise!" She exclaimed as she went upstairs, cheering as she went up to her room

She was very excited about the new school to say the least, it was a brand new experience for her and she was stoked for it.

This was only the start of Akutima's journey to becoming one of the strongest ability-users in Yokohama.

Chapter Text

Yokohama, Japan - Wednesday 6:02 AM

The bright white light of the sun had finally lit up in Yokohama

People were waking up for work, birds were chirping in the air, everything just felt so calm today

Oh but that's not what Akutima was feeling right now, in fact she felt like she was gonna pass out right then and there

She was sitting at the right side of the back of her father's car alongside her older brother Ryuushi, who seemed more relaxed and nonchalant unlike Akutima who was basically sweating before even doing any physical work

Her phone suddenly vibrated, Akutima noticed as she picked it up and read the notification. It was from her brother Ryuushi, who was literally beside her. It read:

Akutima had slightly calmed down after reading her brother's message, taking a quiet deep breath as she put her phone back in her bag

The car finally stopped just in front of the school gates, giving Akutima a clear view of the giant building

It looked like your average rich boarding school but she could just tell it was even more bigger once she got inside

Atsushi: "Okay, do you guys have everything?"

Ryuushi: "Yep" He said in a nonchalant tone

Akuima: "Mhm!"

Akutagawa: "Before you two go, i just want you to know that i'll still love you if you don't get in"

Atsushi: "Ryuu don't say that!" He said in a shocked tone, giving Akutagawa a light smack on his shoulder

Akutagawa: "What? Im just telling them that i won't abandon them if they don't get in"

Atsushi: "Don't listen to your father, you two are gonna do amazing today"

Ryuushi: "Thanks, can we go now?"

Atsushi: "Fine~" He teasingly said, kissing both of their foreheads "Good luck! I love you guys!" He exclaimed, chuckling in the process

Ryuushi: "Dad!" He yelled out, his face red with embarrassment

Akutima: "Hehehe, bye dad and papa!" She yelled out, giggling in the process

The siblings finally arrived to the main exam room, looking at the other people sitting and talking with their friends and leaning against the wall. they all looked so... confident? It was like they knew what they were doing, which made Akutima even more nervous

The communication system suddenly let out a ring, telling all the students to pay attention

Unnamed Man: "Hello my youngful future students and welcome to the Special Gifted Powers Academy. I'm sure you all know what your here for but for those who don't know,"

The mysterious man paused as the TV screen in the room lit up, showing his face to everyone in the room

William Shakespeare: "I am William Shakespeare, your main vice principal"

Everyone reacted in one way or another; some were shocked, some were amused, and even some of them frowned a little but Akutima was neither of them; in fact she had a emotionless expression of her face as she listened intently to his words

William Shakespeare: "You are all ranked as the highest student body in this whole academy - Why you may ask? Well it's very simple actually. You are all children of workers who work in high-ranked organizations, specifically ones with a Skilled Business Permit" He continued to explain "So if you fail this entrance exam, your banned from ever working for high-ranking organizations till the day you die" He said, his tone was a bit harsh at the point but at least it got the point across

William Shakespeare: "I must go now, i wish you all the best of luck on your exam and your journey of becoming the strongest ability users in the whole world. Salutations, my youngful future students" He ended his message as the TV screen went black

Everyone just started whispering with each other, most of them were shocked by what he said, some even cackled by how ridiculous this all sounded

Akutima was in for one hell of a ride for sure...

When Akutima finally passed the Gifted Legacy Exam, she got invitation to stay in the academy's dorms

Akutagawa and Atsushi thought it was way too risky. I mean, leaving their precious little angel alone to live alongside a group of older teenagers she doesn't even know? It's like a true crime story waiting to happen!

But Akutima didn't care. Cmon, she could protect herself. So she accepted the invitation.

Yokohama, Japan - Saturday 8:51 AM

Special Gifted Powers Academy - Armed Detective Agency Class Bedroom Dorms

It hasn't even been a week and Akutima was already tired of this shit

First of all, she had to room with not 2, not 6, not even 8, but 12 people in one building. She thought that was way too excessive

And second of all, they are so different from her. Of course Akutima didn't actually hate that, it's just that they act so different, she thinks she won't get along with any of them, and might consider her a freak or something

Akutima was on her phone, texting her dad Atsushi and telling him about yesterday before getting hit in the head by a cushion

Zaiya: "Hey! Whatcha doing?" She asked, sitting beside Akutima and crossing her legs

Akutima: "Hey Zaiya..." She responds, groaning as she sat up

Zaiya: "Oh c'mon don't sound so bummed out! You need to fix your attitude little missy!" She teasingly said, mockingly copying a certain someone's tone, who was now just behind her

Kanika: "Zaiya stop scaring the poor girl, your gonna get us in trouble"

Name: Kanika Doppo - Age: 15 - Ability: Sleeping Notebook - Parents: Kunikida Doppo and Katai Tayama

Akutima: "Uhm question, why are you wrapped up in a blanket...?" She asked, looking up and down at Kanika

Kanika: "I just woke up... uhh a few minutes ago..." She awkwardly responded, turning her head in embarrassment to avoid eye contact

Akutima: "Right..." She awkwardly said

Zaiya: "oh c'mon! You guys are classmates now! You should try and get along!"

Kanika: "It's not that easy Zaiya, your just a big extrovert, like your dad"

Zaiya: "The one and only!" She exclaimed proudly

Akutima: "Wait, who's your dad?" She asked, genuinely curious

Kanika: "You really don't know?"

Akutima: "I don't know anybody here i fear..."

Zaiya: "So that's why your so awkward"

Akutima: "Yeah unfortunately..." She responded

Zaiya: "Well don't you worry! Me and Kanika will be your personal tour guides for today!" She exclaimed, pulling on Kanika's wrist

Kanika: "Hey what- I didn't agree to this!" She exclaimed back

Zaiya: "Don't worry you'll be fine, you've done this before"

Kanika: "Let me put on some proper clothes first!"

Yokohama, Japan - Saturday 11:14 AM

Special Gifted Powers Academy - Armed Detective Agency Class Dorm Kitchen

Akutima, Zaiya, and Kanika had spent the last two hours walking around the campus while Zaiya did a horrible but funny job at giving Akutima information about the school, but Kanika was quick to correct her

They arrived back to their dorm building as they walked in to some of the others in the kitchen and in the dining room

Zaiya: "Woah, what's going on here?" She asked

Rapoe: "We were making some hard candy" She responded, holding a young girl on her hip like a mother

Kutidaki: "Until it unfortunately exploded in the microwave..." He replied back, his hands crossed across his chest

Zaiya: "Woah really?! I wanna see!" She excitedly exclaim, quickly running over to see the fucked up microwave

Akutima: "Does this happen often...?" She quietly asked Kanika

Kanika: "Yes, unfortunately..." She responded back quietly as well

Yokohama, Japan - Saturday 7:23 AM

Special Gifted Powers Academy - Armed Detective Agency Class Dorm Kitchen

Akutima spent the rest of her day hanging out with Zaiya, sometimes others would tag along too but it wasn't like the whole class came to go meet Akutima

Akutima just finished eating dinner, putting her plate in the sink to go and wash it along with the other dishes. But before she could even turn on the sink, someone else already got in her way

Akutima: "Hey! I-" She exclaimed, looking up at the boy in front of her

Tachizara: "Oh! Sorry, didn't see you there"

Name: Tachizara Tachihara - Age: 16 - Ability: Lighting Trick - Parents: Michizo Tachihara and Junichiro Tanizaki

Akutima was surprised and also confused, they looked just like a boy but they sounded just a girl

Akutima: "This may sound rude but uhm... are you a guy?" She hesitantly asked

Tachizara: "How about both?" They responded with a small smirk

Akutima: "O-oh yeah i totally get it! Don't worry!" She reassured them, trying her best to not seem rude or something

Tachizara: "It's okay, it's normal for me now. You can call me a girl, i don't mind anyway"

Akutima: "Thanks... I don't want to make enemies with my classmates" She said, sighing in relief

Tachizara: "Most of us are chill, well except for Ponpon who sometimes gets into messy situations" They said, chuckling a little "But for the most part, we're pretty chill, we barely have any arguments or anything like that"

Akutima: "That's good to know..." She replied, sighing in relief

Tachizara: "You know, i just know you're gonna fit right in, trust me"

Akutima: "Really? How do you know that?" She asked, chuckling a little

Tachizara: "I can just tell, i mean i was the same when i first came here. I didn't talk to literally anybody for a whole month, until i finally opened up and now im having the time of my life here with the others" They paused before continuing "I have faith in you Akutima, i really do" They said with a small smile

Akutima was speechless, it was the first time someone would talk her down like this. She quickly went back to reality and responded

Akutima: "Wow... Thanks Tachizara... I didn't know you could be so motivational..." She replied, her face filled with surprise

Tachizara: "Well they do call me the Motivational Pep-Talker" They said, chuckling a bit which earned a small giggle from Akutima

Akutima: "Well you definitely live up to the name" She teasingly said

Tachizara checked her watch as she started to speak again

Tachizara: "We're gonna watch a movie in an hour, you coming?" She asked

Akutima: "Oh! Sure!" She responded

Tachizara: "Great, see ya later" She responded, giving Akutima a small grin before walking away

Akutima: "Bye! See you later!" She waved goodbye with a smile on her face

For the first time while in the academy, she felt more relaxed and vulnerable

She really hoped Tachizara was right

Two months had passed since Akutima had that talk with Tachizara and decided to take their advice, which surprisingly for Akutima, worked really well

She started to interact with the other members in her class, sometimes bonding with some of them

At the end of the day, she got along great with the students from her own group

But what about the students from the other groups? Were they also as nice as the students from the Armed Detective Agency class or are they potential rivals and enemies for her?

Yokohama, Japan - Monday 11:46 AM
Special Gifted Powers Academy - Second Main Hallways

The school bell rang across the long hallways, signaling the start of lunch to all the students

Akutima and Zaiya walked across the long and large hallways as they talked to each other

Zaiya: “I can’t believe Mr. Kunikida gave me detention! Again!” Zaiya protested, she absolutely hated getting detention, even if she did something wrong on purpose sometimes

Akutima: “Well, you were trying to prank him during class…” Akutima mumbled

Zaiya: “Ugh! Im so gonna miss movie night!”

Akutima: “Damn, Kanika was right about keeping an eye on you”

Zaiya: “Oh cmon don’t listen to her! Im fine by my own! Your the one that needs watching” Zaiya said as she let out a small chuckle

Akutima: “Me?” She asked

Zaiya: “Obviously! You’re a new student here!”

Akutima: “Ah right…” She said as she sighed

Zaiya: “How about this! How about i introduce to some of my best buds from the other groups? Trust me, they love me” Zaiya said, flexing a little at the end

Akutima: “Are you sure they love you? Or they just say that so they’ll take advantage of you or something?” She quietly asked, slightly concerned about Zaiya’s statement

Zaiya: “Trust me Akutima! We’re like best friends ever! Like two peas in a pod!” Zaiya exclaimed, trying to get Akutima to believe her

This was a super risky decision for Akutima, like what if they don’t like her? Or she ends up embarrassing herself?

Worst case scenario is they end up stalking her and her family in order to ruin her life

Akutima: “Alright fine, i’ll meet your friends” She confirmed as she exhaled

Zaiya: “Great! Trust me! They’ll love you and you’ll love them!” Zaiya excitedly exclaimed

Yokohama, Japan - Monday 12:14 PM
Special Gifted Powers Academy - Main Lunch Area

The sounds of loud conversations, utensils hitting each other, and kids playing sports outside in the Main Lunch Area

Zaiya led Akutima to the table where her “friend” was sitting by

It didn’t take Akutima even 5 seconds to figure out that Zaiya’s “friend” was sitting at the Port Mafia class table

In a blink of an eye, Akutima pushed Zaiya to a nearby corner to hide away from the students sitting at that table

Zaiya: “Hey! What’s wrong Akutima?” Zaiya asked, she seemed very confused on why Akutima would just push her to a corner like that

Akutima: “That’s the Port Mafia class table!” Akutima whispered quietly, trying not to alert the students on the table

Zaiya: “I know that”

Akutima: “Then why are you taking me there?!”

Zaiya: “Because that’s where my friend is?”

Akutima: “Wait… Your friends with someone from the…” Akutima paused as she lowered her voice “Port Mafia class…?”

Zaiya: “Cmon, its not that big of a deal”

Akutima: “Not that big of a deal?!” Akutima exclaimed, but also trying to keep her voice down “They’re gonna kill us!“

Zaiya: “They can’t kill us, the academy prevents it. So don’t worry your little panda head about it, you’ll be fine”

Akutima: “Fine… I’ll calm down…” She said as she grumbled quietly

She in fact did not calm down, instead just kept her guard just in case something happened

Not only was she nervous about someone potentially killing her or something

But she was nervous because it was the first time she was gonna see her brother after the Gifted Legacy Exam
