A Chaldea Removed From The Norm

Summary:

The bastard child of "You've Lost Fujimaru Ritsuka", "Carnival Phantasm"/"Grand Carnival", and various motes of internet humor, all wrapped in a package that attempts to make sense of itself.

Most comics were originally posted on Reddit, so this will be semi-frequently updated in batches, depending on the size of each comic in question.

Makes use of an OC substitute for Ritsuka Fujimaru.

Chapter 1: When You've Discovered Brain Damage

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Notes:

An original comic made for introducing people to the AO3 archive of the series, as well as semi-reintroducing the comic as a whole. Also semi-formally introduces the series' new name, changing from "When Things Happen" to the current "Chaldea Removed From The Norm".

Chapter 2: Comics 1-3

Comic 1: When Asset Testing Goes Slightly Wrong

Original Reddit comment:

I was messing around with some assets and trying to compare how to put them together compared to in-game, when I decided to play with the fourth wall just a smidge.

Golshi assets come from Granblue Fantasy.

Comic 2: When the Master's Imagination Goes In Odd Directions

Original Reddit comment:

Kind of a fusion of two different things: One by Minori Chigusa, and the other by Mike Inel.

Spe-chan and Suzuka assets from GBF, and the others are official renders.

[AO3 Edit: Refer to Chapter Notes for links]

Comic 3: When One Cafe Substitutes For Another

Original Reddit comment:

Somehow, "the girls" ended up including Cu in the micro timeskip, but considering how, in my recollection, he was working at Ahnenerbe, too...

Background is concept art from Persona 5.

Notes:

There are two notable sources that I used to make the joke for Comic 2.

Chapter 3: Comics 4-5

Chapter Text

Comic 4: When You Try to Theorycraft A Servant

Original Reddit comment:

The operative word in this case being "try". Yes, an actual suggestion for a collab with I'm In Love With the Villainess was just made, this Master is kinda out there.

Comic 5: When Spicy Foods Come Back to Haunt You

Original Reddit comment:

Don't worry, hands were washed.

Also, the living arrangements in this particular scenario are: 2 people on the bed, one occupies the couch. Or perhaps Okki managed to sneak a futon with her, I dunno.

As for why they're in a hotel, maybe this is a reminiscence to one of the summer events, as evidenced by Okki's attire.

Other disclaimer, it's entirely possible that Okki was just messing with her Ma-chan, too. I don't think Servants actually need to take craps.

Chapter 4: Comics 6-7

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Comic 6: When a Battle for a Snowy Land is Fought by Idiots

Original Reddit comment:

Howdy! RubixRaptor was indirectly responsible for this brain damage, and I apologize for that. That all aside, this is one of my longer comics, and for that, I've created a new format for that sort of thing. I'll have a means of viewing the individual panels at some point.

Also, side note, this was made outside of the consideration of OC3, so it's easy to place this before that.

[AO3 Edit: If you couldn't already tell, this is that method of viewing the individual panels. I am... so very sorry.]

Comic 7: When You Get Hit by the Power of Hypnosis

Original Reddit comment:

It's super-effective!

Notes:

Here's the relevant video that was used as the basis for Comic 6.

And here's the tweet that serves as the basis of the joke of Comic 7.

Chapter 5: Comics 8-11

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Comic 8: When You Miss One September Birthday, But Not Another

Original Reddit comment:

Yes, even Da Vinci gets asked odd things by our protagonist. It's kind of unavoidable.

[AO3 Edit: This comic was made to commemorate the birthday of Chisato Nishikigi, one of the protagonists of the anime "Lycoris Recoil".]

Comic 9: When BB Finds What You've Been Hiding

Original Reddit comment:

I think in "reality", she wouldn't mind too much. It's just that the sheer concentration of "ladyporn" caught her off-guard in this case.

Side Note: The thing with BB and Medb does exist, though it's less NSFW than this comic would suggest.

NOTE: If you want to know what happened to Comic 10, it's right here.

Comic 11: When Minds Wander To Certain Subjects

Original Reddit comment:

NSFW-marked just to be absolutely sure.

Yeah, remember the last comic where BB was trying to look for something before getting snuck up on? Well, that last page is a sneak peek at what she was trying to find, and... hoo boy. This ain't the FGOcomics sub, so obviously, I'm not showing that here.

[AO3 Edit: I understand that there be some NSFW stuff on this site, but... actually, hell, take a look at the relevant link below. You'll also notice that I seemingly skipped over Comic 10. That's because Comic 10 was a "non-canon" one that you can find on "A Chaldea Even Further Removed From The Norm".]

Comic 12: When the Girls of your Brainrot Arrive

Original Reddit comment:

Our protagonist occasionally (and unintentionally) takes advantage of odd event timing. Also, having access to an Alter Ego so early is something that will be the subject of a future comic.

For our protagonist's rapid-fire attempt to divert the subject, here it is replayed in slow motion:
"It's sorta like Chisato and Takina, y'know like how Chisato is the strongest Lycoris despite being a ball of sunshine, they even work at a cafe under normal circumstances."

[AO3 Edit: This was back in the days where the comic protagonist's name was unknown/intentionally obscured... partially 'cause I couldn't come up with a good one at the time. This was eventually rectified once I settled on one.]

Comic 13: When You Get Your Mystery Food X in my FGO

Original Reddit comment:

Insert Yuri Lowenthal choking sounds here. And yes, the Kiyohime bit at the very end is one of the best (and stupidest) sequences I've done.

EDIT 9/29/2024: By the way, it's occurred to me that I completely forgot to credit Kirby0189 for the Kiyohime expression sheets that have made Kiyo's bits possible across the series so far. Seriously, the things that have been possible with the expanded expressions are amazing.

[AO3 Edit: It's amazing just how *visceral* Yuri Lowenthal made Yosuke's choking sounds.]

Comic 14: When Thinking of Fan-Casting For Your Servants

Original Reddit comment:

My primary frames of reference being:

Cherami Leigh: Mae (Fire Emblem Echoes), Makoto Nijima (Persona 5), Komaru Naegi (Danganronpa)
Lizzie Freeman: Chisato Nishikigi (Lycoris Recoil), Yanfei (Genshin Impact)

Notes:

If you want to hear Yuri Lowenthal's visceral choking sounds for Comic 13, look no further.

Comic 15: When BB Has a Card Trick For You

Original Reddit comment:

BB: "It's not magecraft, it's sleight of hand."

Comic 16: When Brains Break in Real Time

Original Reddit comment:

Kiyohime: "TAC? That's a different game, sorry. Also, what's an 'SRW'?"

Comic 17: When One of the Funny Meme Men Cometh

Original Reddit comment:

For those of you who know Bart's tastes, consider this comic rather significant.

[AO3 Edit: Some characters like Kiyohime make it really difficult to do proper motion blur if you're going in a certain direction. It's mostly the way her hair fans out, as well as the general composition of her sprite. Also, this comic was intended to be the first major hint about the protagonist whose POV we've been looking through the whole time.]

Notes:

Here's the original card trick for Comic 15.

And here is the brain break that inspired Comic 16.

Chapter 8: Comics 18-21

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Comic 18: When You Remember That Osakabehime and Tamamo Are Foxes

Original Reddit comment:

Foxes make very interesting noises when they have a disagreement.

Comic 19: When You Have Questions Regarding Scathach and Skadi

Original Reddit comment:

It was my understanding that it's usually proper to treat Scathach and Sca-Skadi as two separate people. Though, it would seem that nobody's told our protagonist.

Comic 21: When They're Roommates, Your Honor

Original Reddit comment:

Wasn't there a Valentine's skit involving Baobhan Sith having a weird nightmare where Elizabeth was present? 'Cause this strip was partially based on that. [...] Maybe I could've used Nikitich and Atalante as cats, I dunno.

[AO3 Edit: Comment was slightly edited 'cause I kinda don't want to put links right in the main body text itself.]

Notes:

Here are some screaming foxes for reference in regards to Comic 18.

And here is the Murgoten comic that spawned Comic 21.

Chapter 9: Comics 22-23

Chapter Text

Comic 22: When You Want to Explain the Funny Horse Woman

Original Reddit comment:

For those of you who've been keeping up with this series, remember how I ended up using Gold Ship in the very first canon strip? Turns out, this is how that happened. Context is a bitch, ain't it?

[AO3 Edit: A part of me wanted to render the Golshi gag at the beginning of the comic non-canon, but in the name of insanity, I figured I would go back and try to retcon in a reason why she's even around to begin with. Though, to keep in line with continuity, this ended up being one of the first plus-sized comics after the Snowy Land bomb comic.]

Comic 23: When You Kinda Come Up With a Filler Bit

Original Reddit comment:

This was spurred on by a mini-comment chain on one of my previous comics, and... yeah, my timeline wasn't terribly well-thought out. I think event availability is starting to get to me.

Chapter 10: Comics 24-25

Chapter Text

Comic 24: When Your Eardrums Get Pierced

Original Reddit comment:

Xu Fu's proximity to Yu Mei-ren may be hazardous to one's hearing.

[AO3 Edit: This was meant to be around the time the JP server of Fate/Grand Order had the Dancing Dragon Castle event active.]

Comic 25: When The Stables Keep Growing

Original Reddit comment:

A sharp eye will learn something very indicative here. Other than the fact that I probably need help.
[...]
Uma Musume character portraits from Granblue Fantasy.
[...]
To explain Golshi's rambling:
Lunamaria Hawke - Da Vinci (same Japanese VA, Maaya Sakamoto)
Milky Rose - Chikagi (also a VA joke, Eri Sendai)

Chapter 11: Comics 26-27

Chapter Text

Comic 26: When the Horse Girls Need a Crash Course

Original Reddit comment:

Reiterating general Fate setting info that 99% of this sub is aware of, I'm sure. But it acts as a mini-showoff of some of the Servants that our protagonist for-sure has access to. That said, this DOES take place chronologically before the Xu Fu comic, so that's a slight error, but her appearance kinda just worked for the Alter Ego pic.

Comic 27: When The Umas Cause More Questions Than Answers

Original Reddit comment:

To the person who said that they'd eat their left nut if the uma musume weren't Riders... hope you're hungry. And yes, this is taking place during the same day as the last comic.

Chapter 12: Comics 29-30

Chapter Text

NOTE: Comic 28 is skipped over due to being a non-canon comic. That can be found in the other archive, link right here.

Comic 29: When Novem Chaldea Says "Hey, I Can Do That, Too!"

Original Reddit comment:

Uma arc is planned to wrap up tomorrow, I promise. But anyway! More original absurdity. I dunno how much will be relevant to proceedings, so the next BB Break Time will go over how I envision the Guest Class. ...Or, y'know, I could do that in a normal comic by having Gold Ship whack people over the head with a frying pan, I dunno.

Comic 30: When A Certain Object Shows Up

Original Reddit comment:

For those of you a little too deep in the Nasu-hole, this entire bit is kind of a callback to a certain drama CD track. Except, replace a certain ditzy True Ancestor with a trio of horse girls that people occasionally mistaken for cats for some godforsaken reason.

Some Uma Musume-related character notes:

Gentildonna - In a way, Uma Musume's equivalent to a Buster gorilla. Last I checked, this is for a very good reason, as she's canonically strong (and most horse girls are already up there).

Maruzensky and Wonder Acute - Two horse girls who are known for being kinda grandma-esque, at least in the fanbase. Maruzensky tends to be behind on trends in a sort of "How do you do, fellow kids?" way, while Wonder Acute is more accepting of her role (despite not being much older than a good chunk of her peers).

Comic 32: When Liz is Gonna Liz

Original Reddit comment:

We all know that Liz is essentially FGO's Halloween mascot, right?

Comic 33: When The Funny Bangs Man Makes a Move

Original Reddit comment:

Special Week: "AGEMASEN!!!"

But yeah. Bart being Bart.

Comic 34: When You Have An Unexpected Anti-Idol Contingency

Original Reddit comment:

Liz really should've thought with portals. [...]Though, admittedly, I dunno how far Okki's portals can actually go, I just thought this would be a funny bit to do.

To clarify, Okki did not (directly) read minds, she can just see the protagonist's face, unlike us.

Chapter 14: Comics 35-37

Chapter Text

Comic 35: When The Wrong Liz Gets Dunked

Original Reddit comment:

It's very likely that Okki's doing it intentionally. That's part of the fun one can have with friends, isn't it?

Comic 36: When Conversations Happen While the Master is Away

Original Reddit comment:

Take a shot for every time Liz and/or a variation gets portaled.

That all aside, as for that "godforsaken mech anime", let the fact that the conversation started with "a raging 'hime'-complex" speak for itself, and at least some of y'all can put the pieces together. I still have a soft spot for it, even if it didn't age nearly as gracefully as other stuff.

Comic 37: When Messing With Your Servants Is Too Fun

Original Reddit comment:

When some of them have some really choice reactions, you just have to at some point.

[AO3 Edit: This comic is a prequel to Comic 21 (the "We also have lots of sex!" one).]

Chapter 15: Comics 38-39

Chapter Text

Comic 38: When Plans About Future Backgrounds Are Discussed

Original Reddit comment:

And now poor Kiyohime (expressions by Kirby0189) caught the portal bug. As for why she's peeved, well let's just say she has something to discuss with her Master related to how her morning started.

BTW, the main two fighting games with aquarium stages that I know of are KoF 2000 and Golden Fantasia (a.k.a. Ougon Musou Kyoku).

Comic 39: When Kiyohime Is (Adorably) Cross

Original Reddit comment:

I know Kiyohime is the yandere type, but we're pretty far along in the timeline (this is actually post OC 3). I think it's safe to say that her being around Chaldea and the protag for so long has taken its toll on her. Well, that, and Kirby0189's expressions are too good to not use at some point.

Also. Let's take note of what our protagonist apparently put under Kiyohime's pillow the previous night to give her the scuffed dream that kicked this off. [Comics 21 and 37]

Comic 41: When You're It

Original Reddit comment:

A really short one, based on a Calvin and Hobbes strip. I figured, "Why not, right?"

Comic 42: When That Early Game Servant Finally Comes Home

Original Reddit comment:

You ever have that launch SR/SSR character that you just cannot seem to get even as the gacha's lifespan continues on?

Also, funny enough, today's Daily Chaldea also touches on late arrivals. This was not intended, I swear.

Chapter 17: Comics 43-45

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Comic 43: When The Eyes of Kiyohime, Of All People, Wander

Original Reddit comment:

Just for kicks, I did double-check both girls' stats. With the gay thoughts having B in Agility as opposed to base Kiyohi's C, it's probably not going to be long.

Comic 44: When A Certain "Panic Button" Gets Hit

Original Reddit comment:

Some notes:

- The Oei (Oui?) bit at the very start is semi-based on an early bit from HwendaJun's "Foreigner Grand Order" comic.
- Yes, Mr. C.B. is very much girlfriend material.
- Xenovia's voice actress is Risa Taneda--Kiyohi's VA.

New challenger Boudica! The specific sheet I used here is an edit sheet by Kirby0189--who also made this entire thing possible for making the Kiyohime expressions I've been using throughout the comic's run.

Comic 45: When You Aren't Sure If Anyone's Made This Joke Before

Original Reddit post:

Can I just say? Trying to figure out how to get the effect anything approaching "right" sucked ASS. Like, ouch. I'm positive that, even with minimal Paint.net addons, someone could figure out how to do it better than I did.

As for the actual joke being made, take note that Star Hassan's VA is KENN. AND Hassan's main thing is zoomies, so... yeah. I made the connection, though I don't think that's how it actually works from his POV.

Chapter 18: Comics 47-49

Chapter Text

NOTE: Comic 46 was a non-canon one, and can be found in the other archive.

Comic 47: When A Dogeza Is Probably Called For

Original Reddit comment:

A somewhat more emotional comic in this particular arc. Though, it's setting up for other bits, too.

Comic 48: When The Librarian Is Distracting

Original Reddit comment:

That IS how Taizan Commentary Fest works, right? While Shikibu can apply it on her own, she sometimes does it by accident, and it reveals somebody's true feelings? Though, with my brand of humor, she ends up revealing some interesting things... Also, how does it actually appear to people?

Comic 49: When The Game Was Rigged From The Start

Original Reddit comment:

Now granted, I don't think gettin' shot in the face by Chandler Bing would do squat to most Servants... unless Chandler himself was a Heroic Spirit, in which case we probably have other problems on our hands.

But, the biggest punchline here comes from a certain Nasu blog post. Now, I dunno where to find this post, and my sources telling me that it exists aren't the best, but supposedly, there are reasons other than Kiyohime in life being pushy for things not working out. And yes, supposedly, some people do start imitating the things that their loved/admired ones do. So, that checks out, I suppose.

Chapter 19: Comics 50-52

Chapter Text

Comic 50: When The Realization Sets In

Original Reddit comment:

Don't you just hate when your words get scrambled and they come out wrong?

Actually, the original meme was one mis-say less, but because Hololive, I thought it'd be funny to throw in one more for kicks.

Comic 51: When A Plan of Action Is Formed

Original Reddit comment:

Chikagi: "Just tell her that you like her, too!"

Kiyohime: "You're the LAST person I want to hear that from!"

[AO3 Edit: Chikagi really IS one of the last people to talk about being upfront about feelings, IMO. At least, of the folks aboard this timeline's Chaldea.]

Comic 52: When A New Couple Forms At Chaldea

Original Reddit comment:

Imma be honest, I'm not sure why I took this long to make my usual opening comment on the comic. But yeah. I probably could have done more with the mini-flashback, and I probably should have, but I was having a hard time figuring out what exactly to do.

But yes, this is a thing that's happening. I have more stuff on the pipeline, and I may or may not have blown past the usual point for a break comic, but oh well. Sometimes, I really wanna see something through to its end.

Chapter 20: Comics 53-55

Chapter Text

Comic 53: When A Crane Meets Horses

Original Reddit comment:

Minor flashback, but I just figured I'd do a bit with Miss Crane at some point. And, well, here we are.

Yeah, Uma Musume, at least at its early stages, is... interesting. As if the horse girls weren't unique enough, they also legit do song and dance. If you're in-tune enough with the Uma fandom, you'll know where the term "umapyoi" hails from.

And for that extra little bit of trivia, Crane's evaluation of Gold Ship is actually a Pixiv tag associated with her.

[AO3 Edit: Don't believe me? On Pixiv, copy and paste 黙れば美人、喋ると奇人、走る姿は不沈艦 in the search bar and see what happens.]

Comic 54: When Two Himes Occupy One Space

Original Reddit comment:

Trust me when I say that the title sounded a lot better in my head. But yes, we have the first (in this comic) appearance of the Otohime Spiritron Dress, with continuity coming hot off the heels of the "Gay Panic" arc. But trust me, this isn't over for Kiyohi's malfunctions.

Anyway, I've got a game called "Bits From a Hat"! More specifically, the "stone I passed" remark from the latter half. On the one hand... look at the damn thing. On the other hand, I do distinctly recall a moment from Whose Line that had the original joke.

Comic 55: When You Question Your Lunch Choices

Original Reddit comment:

Another Calvin and Hobbes-cribbed entry. As for whose beanie-weenies those originally were, I couldn't even begin to tell you. Maybe it was left over from a larger serving.

[AO3 Edit: Beanie-weenies are, at their core, pork-and-beans with pieces of hot dog or sausage in them. They're actually quite good, if you ask me.]

Chapter 21: Comics 56-60

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Comic 56: When Rabbits Are Fragile Creatures

Original Reddit comment:

On the one hand, you really can't be too careful with any kind of prey animal. Rabbits in particular can be startled and scared to a really bad degree, as expected for them.

On the other hand, more Okki-Fox humor, I guess. I'm sorry, Tenochi fans, I'll come up with a form of vindication eventually.

Comic 57 was a non-canon comic and can be found in the other archive.

Comic 58: When Lockdown Makes For Strange Bedfellows

Original Reddit comment:

I saw an opportunity based on continuity, and I took it.[...]Who knows, maybe Martha threatened [BB] with what happened at ServaFes.

[AO3 Edit: Yes, the protagonist has THAT fetish. Obviously, not something that can be practiced very safely...]

Comic 59: When Lancer Luck Leads You Astray

Original Reddit comment:

I'd like to say this is based on, like, a super-early Calvin and Hobbes strip. Of course, one has to wonder how Santa Lily and Taiga managed to get lost in the first place, let alone why those two specifically.

Comic 60: When You Aren't Looking At A Visual Glitch

Original Reddit comment:

Boy, my copy of Yakuza Kiwami sure looks strange. In other news, this comic is telling you something about our protagonist.

Comic 62: When That One Dude Just Won't Die

Original Reddit comment:

"Reoccurring joke here!"

But in all seriousness, that sometimes happens, doesn't it? That one enemy just... refuses to die for some reason or another. Of course, it's not every day that Kiyohi's power of presumption gives her a bit of Gae Bolg to say "Fuck this dude in particular".

EDIT: Okuni represents Videl while Fran represents A16.

Comic 63: When A "Disaster" Strikes

Original Reddit comment:

Chikagi: "I already knew Kiyohime was kind of a disaster lesbian, but I didn't realize it was THIS bad."

I think "girlfailure" is also a good term for it. That still qualifies for Mad Enhancement, doesn't it? I dunno. Whatever the case is, poor Kiyohime is still getting used to it.

Comic 64: When You Learn A Bit of the Local Lingo

Original Reddit comment:

I should use Mash more often in the comic. But, oh well. And yes, that's a Red vs. Blue quote mentioned... or, it's supposed to be from RvB.

If the dialogue doesn't make it clear, Kiyohime's situation is supposed to be similar to how she is in the Turas Realta manga.

Chapter 23: Comics 65-67

Chapter Text

Comic 65: When Your Focus And Will Are Unmatched

Original Reddit comment:

This is a weird one, so I'll clarify here: Our protagonist is messing around with jewel magecraft. Though, as some people tend to do, when getting to work, things tend to get... tuned out. Like, a lot. Granted, it's not as bad as some cases, but when you overhear familiar and friendly voices, you tend to not register anything particularly odd until it's "too late".

And yes, to follow up on one specific comic [Comic 35], our protagonist needs to semi-frequently resupply, and that's partially what Carmilla is for.

Comic 66: When You Don't Wanna Be Bothered

Original Reddit comment:

As per the original Calvin and Hobbes strip, I'm sure we've all had those days, where you wake up and you mentally can't be arsed. But, because you've got stuff to do, you kinda have to force yourself to get your lazy ass up and at 'em, which may or may not paint the rest of your day.

Comic 67: When Dreams Get... Interesting (Again)

Original Reddit comment:

Remember in an earlier comic [Comic 39], where our protagonist mentioned testing something on Osakabehime? This is what that test came up with.

Chapter 24: Comics 68-71

Chapter Text

Comic 68: When Jeanne Doesn't Know

Original Reddit comment:

Finally remembered to put a flair on this post, mostly 'cause it concerns Hakunon (and by small extension, Kazuradrop). For now, I leave it to your imagination how the accident happened, especially aboard the Storm Border.

Comic 69: When The Green Thing Gets Rear-Ended

Original Reddit comment:

Liz: "That's what you GET for stealing this year's Halloween!"

Yes, this is a prequel to the previous comic. And yes, it's kinda aggressively stupid. But, slapstick comedy has its own uses, don't it?

Comic 70 is a non-canon one, and can be found in the other archive.

Comic 71: When The Post-Action Report Involves Lots of Fire

Original Reddit comment:

So, shout-out to Verion for the maps used in Mash's recount. And yes, the strat name was very deliberately chosen, both in and out of universe.

I'd say "The enemy is in Honnoji!" but I couldn't find a good 2D representation of, say, Himeji Castle. In fact, the original idea behind this comic was to have Okki create Himeji Castle and then trap the enemies in there while the other Servants burn the place down. And by the way, the NP that Kriem uses is one that's normally supposed to go unused in FGO proper, but I figured giving it a shout-out was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Chapter 25: Comics 72-74

Chapter Text

Comic 72: When A Question About Dreams Is Asked

Original Reddit comment:

And now we begin our approach towards genesis...

I guess very mild OC2 spoilers here, too.

Comic 73: When Abby Finally Shows Up In This Comic

Original Reddit comment:

I mean, I had her show up in a roll call, but now she actually has an acting part in this comic.

Just as a note, tomorrow will be a non-canon comic... or no comic whatsoever, rather, 'cause I happen to be in a part of the world that celebrates Thanksgiving. So there's that.

Comic 74: When You Undergo The Five Stages of Awakening

Original Reddit comment:

I know I said in my last posting that I wasn't going to do a comic today, but this was too funny to NOT post.

But I suppose this also functions as a sort of call to attention that I'll occasionally add "interludes" to various comics and/or arcs. Mostly just bonus shorties, though there may be an occasional outlier. For example, this one is an "interlude" to that time that Kiyohime found that Anchin in the past was gay, starting with right after she threw the book at Shikibu's face.

I also put another interlude in another comic. Since most of these are intended to be "optional", they'll be semi-hidden, but I'll post whenever I make one and link to the associated comic. I'll usually hide them behind a period at the end of a particular sentence in the main OP post of that comic, so you won't have to look too hard.

AO3 EDIT: I'll find a way to get those interludes shoved onto this site eventually.

Chapter 26: Comics 75-77

Some editing was done for brevity and flow.

Comic 75-77: When It All Began (Arrows 1 to 3)

Original Reddit comment (Arrow 1):

Neco-Arc: "It's starting!"

Now we properly begin the Origin Arc of the comic... or at least, origins in relation to the primary goings-on of Chaldea and FGO as a whole. To note, the arc as a whole is sort of a composite of the in-game prologue and the First Order OVA, with a little bit of the Turas Realta manga. Though, I will note that there may be long stretches of apparently nothing, depending on how you process things, partially due to the first-person nature of the comic. So, I apologize in advance for that.

Original Reddit comment (Arrow 2):

Now, before any assumptions are made, I just need to remind y'all that the Nasuverse has some seriously Gundam-ass names for most people who aren't historical figures and/or come from Japan. Like, actually, if you stick a name like Luviagelita or Van-Fem in the Universal Century, I guarantee you that nobody would bat an eye. Conversely, I'm fairly certain that the average Type-Moon protagonist would roll with somebody named Quattro Bajeena, Setsuna F. Seiei, Sleggar Law, and whatnot.

Original Reddit comment (Arrow 3):

A shorter this time around, but as we can clearly see, our protagonist, Meyris, has a way of temp-labelling people based on first appearances, outstanding introductory traits, and the like. I do have to say, naming the protagonist should make it easier to write folks like Goredolf and Da Vinci in the present-day timeline.
