Chapter Text
Atropos - the inevitable, the unescapable, the epitome of death sighed as she ran her eyes along the threads in front of her. The lives of so many people she and her sisters had used as pawns to serve as actors in their play. Only for them to stare in horror as they go behind the grand drapes and realise that the show moves on. So many of their lifespans she had cut. But yet to no avail. The Olympians have made too many mistakes. Wasted too much resources, allies and time. For even them - immortals, have not enough of it.
Death’s sister, the allotter - her exact opposite, remained composed. Yet however different they are there is a reason The Morai are addressed as one.
Lachesis - the one who decides what you shall do in your life and how you shall live it gently traced her delicate fingers across a thread. Sea green and so difficultly woven there is no chance of anyone or anything ever unravelling it.
- It must be done. - she said her voice emotionless, but her face stricken with grief. - Summon Perseus Jackson. - she commanded one of their most loyal servants.
- We have an offer.
Let’s make this clear: Percy was NOT having a good day.
First he slept in. You would think that a good thing, but after so many wars every time he woke up late it felt like he had wasted his whole life doing nothing but sleeping.
Second - an army of monsters attacked him at five a.m.!!! I mean who does that? I get that THEY don’t sleep but come on,I DO! And if you’re confused about the army thing, well, apparently most on the monsters on Earth have formed some kind of cult against me. Like these bitches really go to a temple just to pray to the spirit of my hypothetical death.
Anyway was lounging on my couch in my place in New Rome. It’s kinda messy cuz I just moved in. I used to live with Annabeth but ever since Tartarus things just haven’t been the same. We decided that it’s better to part our ways for now,but we still look out for each other and are close friends. Even tho it was mutual it was NOT an easy break up. Well at least not for me.
I was brought out of my thoughts as I felt a pull in my chest. I panicked and pulled back. Then another one. It’s like a vacuum cleaner sucked my soul out and spit it out somewhere else because next thing I know I’m on the ground throwing up.
- My lord, are you well?
I looked up and saw a girl seemingly a little younger than me looking at me with barely covered concern. She wore a elegant peplos and her hair was neatly pulled back revealing her refined features.
-Yeah. I’m fine. Ummmm, sorry who are you?And please just call me Percy.
She smiled.
- No need to apologise Percy. As for your question - who I am does not matter. However I’ll have you know that I am a servant of The Great Morai and they request your presence. Please clean up and follow me.
She handed me a towel and started walking away. I quickly cleaned up and hurried to catch up. I was summoned. From The Fates. Even I wasn’t foolish enough to ignore them, tho I couldn’t help wondering why they must see me.
As we walked I looked around. Where we were I have no idea. But it was beautiful. With a sky that looked like it was unlimited. Clear and purely white. Tall trees with white leafs and golden fruits. A pavement made of crystal. Then I turned my gaze forward and my eyes fell onto a castle. Ginormous. Made of diamond, reflecting from the light that seemed to come out of nowhere considering there is no sun. The only sound in the whole place the one of our footsteps.
My breath hitched as we reached the gate and the girl- the servant of The Morai - stepped forward to unlock it. Before she could they themselves opened wide revealing a throne room. In the middle three thrones. Made from obsidian with intricate and precise designs carved into them. On them sat The Fates.
Clotho - the spinner, Lachesis - the allotter and finally Atropos - the inevitable.
-Step forward Perseus - Lachesis said as she waved a hand at the servant dismissively.
-My ladies - I began, trying to be respectful. - while I am honoured that you would allow me into your beautiful abode, I must ask, why you would summon me and why with such urgency?
The Morai now spoke with union:
- Perseus Jackson. We have requested your presence in hope of proposing an offer.
- What kind of offer? - at this The Fates smiled.
- Fear not hero, for this is not a trick. It is your choice wether you chose to accept it or not.
- Okay…What is the offer about?
- Well, Perseus, the gods have many mistakes - at this he wholeheartedly agreed.- mistakes that we are giving you a chance to fix. We will send you back to the past where you along with others from your time and heroes and gods of the past will read about you and your fellow demigods’ adventures. We have chosen you in hope that you will be most likely to not turn back in fear and that you will stand up to them and force them into changing.
Wow. That was a lot to process.
- I accept. But I must ask.Who will be with me?
The Morai smiled.
- You will see.
And that was the last thing I heard as I blacked out.
