Chapter Text
You peacefully lay in your bed, scrolling through your feed on your favorite social media. It’s dead at night and you would usually be watching your favorite streaming service right now, Puzzlevision. But ever since the Gameshow, no new actual content has been released. You would still check the streaming service to see if anything new came out, but all you can find are some short-films that can’t even be counted as short-films considering they’re only a couple of seconds/minutes long. You did some research (and by research, I mean all you did was make a quick google search) but didn’t find any updates on what could’ve happened. You assume maybe the company went bankrupt considering how low the movies were rated and how little money they (probably) earned.
But the longer you question it the more you get paranoid, and soon your head begins to hurt as you feel sick. Clearly the paranoia has been getting to you, or so you thought.. You realize that not going outside for 3 days straight has been having a serious impact on your mental and physical health, clearly you need to touch grass. With a sigh to yourself, you turn off your phone and stand up from your bed, your apartment is fairly small and dull, which is the worst combination you can have, but at least not dirty. Surprisingly out of all things you had always enough motivation to keep the place clean, unlike your friends.
As you go out and find your nice red car in the parking lot. You decide to make this trip a bit more fun and tolerable, which is why you choose to drive somewhere further than ever before. So you get in your car, and drive. Some time flies by as you listen to your favorite radio stations and watch the road, as you finally arrive. You park near a mall and leave the car. Although it is dark, you like it this way, it makes you feel a weird sense of freedom and peace… Anyways, you get out of your car, and decide to just wander around the silent city. You could see the light from the street lights hit the pavement.
But as you walk, you venture into a less city-like area, and soon find yourself standing in front of a huge blue castle, accompanied by a cafe. You feel surprised by how unusual it is to see a castle, especially in the 20th century. And it doesn’t seem to have a fence or any ticket booths like a museum would. Which can only mean this was a genuine house, with actual people living in it. You can’t help but feel your feet approach one of the windows, you peek inside and can only make out 2 figures sitting in front of a TV. But it is still only their silhouettes, which is not much to work from.
But suddenly you see one of them perk up and look at you, while tapping on the other’s shoulder and pointing at the window you’re standing at. This causes your blood to run cold as you find yourself quickly sprinting away into the deep forest, goddammit, why do you always get into such pressuring situations. Even if it’s not much, you still feel stressed, why do you always stress about the smallest of things! Why does it have to be you?! Why can’t you be brave like those skydivers who literally jump off planes! People serve in the war and die heros, and yet you still stress over just for being spotted outside of someone's castl– !
You don’t even realize how long you were running for, as you trip over something and fall right onto a tree, ugh, of course this HAS to happen to you. You turn around to kick whatever rock made you trip, but instead you see something else.. You know it’s not a rock due to its perfect corner, it's simply unnatural. You decide it’s just better to leave it alone and go home, but something about this object seems so unusual, you groan as you decide to dig it out of the mud. At Least you’re not wearing your newer clothes, you would never want to get those dirty. But alas you find yourself trying to pull out a particularly heavy metallic object out of some puddle.
After what felt like an eternity (which was roughly half an hour), you pull out the muddy block of metal and drag it with all your strength to the city. You leave it near the road, you weren’t gonna pull it through the sidewalk full of people and eyes to stare at you, that’s for sure. You run over to your car, your feet hitting the floor with all their might and strength that you have left, and find your car. Before obviously driving to the area where you left that object. You get out of your car and shove it in your particularly empty trunk, and finally drive home. You didn’t even bother to look at the object when putting it in the car due to how tired you were. And you weren’t excited about having to pull it out of the trunk either.
You finally pulled up to the 4 story apartment, you decided to take a risk from how absolutely drained you were, and carried this object to the elevator. But as you dragged it to the building you could finally make out the antennae, a screen, some knobs and other TV features. “Great.. So this is what I spent a whopping 2 hours on dragging?!” You think to yourself, you really couldn’t hate yourself anymore than you do now. But there's no going back now, you somehow manage to make it to the second room with this heavy-ass piece of junk and go to room 212. You unlock the door and drag the TV into one of your three rooms, being your bedroom. You place it right beside your bed. “The surface of this TV isn’t even flat enough to use as a table! Why did I even bring this useless garbage..” You can’t help but mumble that under your breath. But you can’t even look at the TV any longer, your eyes are closing by themselves, as you drift to sleep.
