Chapter 1: Gardenview's biggest meanie

Chapter Text

Everyone hates Shrimpo. Well, maybe hate is a strong word. Everyone dislikes Shrimpo, well maybe not EVERYONE but a handful of toons do. He was rude, obnoxious, annoying. Shrimpo couldn't go a day without screaming at someone, or insulting them, or-

“I HATE YOUR STUPID FACTS” Shrimpo yelled, storming out of the elevator, leaving behind a Finn who simply shrugged with his usual grin. The crustacean toon huffed, arms crossed as he was stomping his way down the hall. He was in a bad mood today… as usual, although something was slightly different. Shrimpo felt particularly more hateful today. Usually, he'd be able to tolerate Finn's facts about fish, but hearing the guy's voice was making him even angrier.

“Hey Shrimpo!” Shrimpo passed Looey who gave him his usual smile “Woah, you seem angry, what's the ru-” “NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, AIRHEAD!” Shrimpo snapped, passing Looey before he slipped into his room, slamming the door shut with a loud " "BANG!" , leaving behind a confused and slightly concerned Looey. “oh… uh- okay then…” Looey blinked, staring at the closed door that was Shrimpo's room before he turned and walked off to the elevator, going back to what he was doing prior

“Stupid elevator, stupid Finn, stupid fish facts, stupid stupid…” Shrimpo muttered, angrily scribbling down his thoughts on a piece of paper. The tip of his pencil slowly eroding as he put in more pressure, the words “stupid” and “hate” being written on the paper, getting more and more sloppy and rushed as he continued to write them down, muttering angrily to himself. He didn't know why but he just felt so… angry, alot angrier today than usual. It was suffocating.

Hate hate hate hate stupid stupid stupid hate HATE HATE HATE HAT- snap

His pencil dulls, the tip breaking off as Shrimpo gripped the thing before chucking it across the room “STUPID PENCIL! I HATE YOU!!” He yelled, frustrated. Shrimpo sat there in his chair, glaring at the pencil he had thrown across the room as he felt his mind race, no coherent thoughts, just… anger and random jumbled words of hatred towards no one in particular… He hated so many things, the chair he was sitting on, the smell of his room, the lights that seems to be too bright for him, the feeling of his shirt on him, the way his feet was barely touching the floor just dangling off his seat, and especially… the way he was tearing up.

Shrimpo reached up to rub at his eyes with his arm, grunting as he felt tears gushing out from his sockets, it was like the inevitable… Shrimpo was crying, yet he didn't know why. He felt so angry and frustrated yet he didn't understand who or what was making him feel such strong emotions. He turned to stare at the piece of paper he had written, the words still there, still in his messy, rushed, sloppy handwriting. Shrimpo bit his lip, reaching for it, his hands shaky as he stared at the paper before he gritted his teeth, ripping it up and crumbling the paper into a ball and chucking it out of frustration. Tears were staining his face now, and Shrimpo had no clue why. His brain was all fuzzy, he couldn't feel his own thoughts. Why was he angry? Why was he upset? What was he hating on? Who was he hating on? He couldn't tell.

Shrimpo slowly hopped off his chair, dragging his feet to his bed as he collapsed on it, curling up into a ball. Tears were streaming down his face, dripping onto the mattress and staining it. He didn't care anymore, he began sniffling, curling more into himself. This feeling… he wanted to feel safe, so he wrapped his arms around himself, pulling his knees up into a fetal position and closed his eyes… he wanted to feel like someone could hold him… hold him and not let go. He didn't understand why he felt so many feelings all at once… but nonetheless,

Big feelings sucked.

Chapter 2: Little food thief (Cosmo)

Summary:

Shrimpo wakes up after crying himself to sleep. He's craving something sweet and those cupcakes for Teagan's tea party look very promising...

Chapter Text

Shrimpo squinted his eyes open, immediately he could feel the heaviness in his chest and the dried up tear streaks on his face. He laid there in his bed, still curled up in the fetal position. Slowly, the crustacean toon began to stretch out his legs, sitting up as he rubbed his eyes. He didn't like crying, it made him feel icky… his brain was all foggy still… no proper thoughts on that little head of his… But his stomach was speaking for him as Shrimpo could feel it rumble.

He wanted a snack… maybe a sweet one… Shrimpo pulled himself up, sitting on his bed before he hopped down, walking to his door, his movement sluggish. After failing to open his own door twice, the little stumbled out into the dark hallway. Looking left and right to check if the coast was clear before he began to walk towards the elevator. It was pretty obvious that it was the dead of night, no toon in sight… perfect opportunity for him to be a little food thief. Passing by the doors of his other fellow toons, Shrimpo called for the elevator, wincing a bit as he heard the door open… the sound echoing throughout… If no one woke up from that, then they must be either dead or completely knocked out. Either way, Shrimpo didn't care, his stomach was demanding for food. He stepped into the elevator, listening to its' hums, and the buzzing of the florescent lights. Another loud noises of the door closing and he was off, the elevator descending down to where the kitchen was

Shrimpo tiptoed into the kitchen, his eyes squinting to adjust to the darkness. The little one immediately went for the fridge after feeling around the room a little, opening it with no trouble as he took a peek inside… Nothing really caught his eyes, just other yucky leftovers from other toons, but he perked up as his eyes soon landed on something sweet… a tray of cupcakes. Those were for Teagan’s tea party tomorrow… made by-

“Uhm- Shrimpo?” A voice sounded from behind him, causing Shrimpo to yelp and whip his head around to look. Standing in the doorway was none other than Cosmo “What are you doing? It's like… 1 in the morning” Cosmo asked, yawning as he looked at the crustacean. Shrimpo glanced at him before back at the tray of cupcakes “Shrimpo?” Cosmo asked again, narrowing his eyes as he stepped forward “What are you- wuh hey!” He soon rushed over after seeing Shrimpo shove one of the cupcakes into his mouth, in his hand were around three to four more of them

“Shrimpo! That's for Teagan's tea party! You can't eat that!” The cake roll toon tried to reach him but Shrimpo quickly dove under a nearby table, his mouth still stuffed with the cupcake, icing getting on his shirt from hugging onto the other four or so cupcakes. Mmm… chocolatey, he took note of the flavour as he was about to eat another one “Shrimpo!” Shrimpo yelped, seeing Cosmo reach under the table to reach for him “Give those back, Sprout and I worked hard to make them for Teagan!” He sounded rather annoyed. Shrimpo huffed, stuffing the cake into his mouth and chucked another at Cosmo's face before scrambling out of the other side of the table, making a break for the door as he held onto the last cupcake.

Cosmo grunted as he felt the cake splat on his face, icing getting all over as he quickly wiped it off, trying to go after Shrimpo. It wasn't hard to catch up to Shrimpo seeing that he was terribly slow. Cosmo managed to grab the back of his shirt, “Gotcha!” Shrimpo whined in annoyance, whipping his head around to face Cosmo as he was being grabbed, unable to run “Shrimpo you can't just eat other people's food without asking!” Cosmo scolded, looking at him as he noticed the last cupcake in his hand, “Now can you please hand that back? Those were for Teaga-” and with that, Shrimpo shoved the cake into his mouth again, glaring at Cosmo as he ate the cupcake, wrapper and all. “I- you- Shrimpo!” Cosmo deadpanned, letting Shrimpo go “Me and Sprout spent a long time making those!” He said, looking at Shrimpo with a tired and disappointed look as he was expecting the other to yell, or make a snarky remark. But instead, Shrimpo just stared at Cosmo before he blew raspberries at him and ran off.

Cosmo raised his brow, stunned as he watched Shrimpo enter the elevator, sticking his tongue out at him rather childishly as the door closed, the elevator ascending, leaving Cosmo standing there, confused with icing still on his face… Did Shrimpo just…

“I- what…” Cosmo huffed, reaching to wipe off some of the icing on his face, staring at the closed elevator in disbelief.

Shrimpo opened his door, stepping in as he licked off the remaining icing on his lips. The crustacean toon sighed, plopping himself onto his bed as he laid sprawled out on his back, staring up at he ceiling. He felt rather nice… those cakes were really good. His eyes began to droop, as he yawned, seemingly getting tired from his little food heist. He would've liked to eat all of those cupcakes had that stupid Cosmo not caught him… but for now, Shrimpo was content, his hunger temporarily satiated as he turned to curl up on himself again, letting out one last yawn before he closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep once again.

...

“Hey Cosmo- woah, you okay?” Sprout asked, raising a brow at his friend who looked exhausted.

“Huh? Oh- uh… yea! Just… didn't get alot of sleep last night” Cosmo chuckled nervously before he let out a yawn, trying not to collapse on the spot… He ended up having to make a new batch of cupcakes to replace the ones that were “mysteriously” stolen last night…

Chapter 3: Once upon a time, there lived an angry little Shrimpo (Brightney)

Chapter Text

Shrimpo grumbled, sitting up on his mattress. There was a slight sweet taste in his mouth… What happened last nigh- oh right, the cupcakes… Shrimpo felt the corners of his mouth twitch upwards a little as his mind recalled last night. He remembered chucking a cupcake at Cosmo, getting icing all over his face, it was kind of funny… wait. Cosmo saw him… when he was… eh, surely he won't tell anyone. That guy was too much of a coward to really speak up anyways, right? …

The door to his room opened as Shrimpo stomped out, walking towards the elevator as he passed by Boxten who was coming out of his room. “Shrimpo, uh… were you the one who called the elevator last night?” The music box asked, his voice rather nervous as he looked at Shrimpo who narrowed his eyes at him, “Nun’ ya business!” He said, cringing a bit at his voice… He didn't yell like usual, probably just too little to right now... Not that anyone would know that. Before Boxten could say another word, Shrimpo walked off, heading to the elevator as he watched the door close. The descent was as slow as usual. The soft hums of the elevator, the buzzing of the florescent lights. God, the buzzing was making his head hurt, had it always been this loud? A “ding!” was heard as the door opened. Shrimpo stepped out, his footsteps heavy against the floor as he passed the library. Usually, he didn't even bother to go there. Psshh, like he'd ever picked up a book before. He hated books, the pages were always too long and the words irritated him enough that he wanted to tear and rip off the goddamn thing… But this time around, Shrimpo felt himself hesitantly switch his route to enter the library. He didn't know what possessed him to do so, maybe just his curiosity… How odd.

He didn't know why he wasn't expecting it, but Shrimpo ended up finding Brightney in the library, reading a book. She noticed Shrimpo stomping his way in, his steps were pretty hard not to notice afterall. “Shrimpo, fancy seeing you here!” She greeted, giving him a gentle smile. Brightney hadn't expected Shrimpo to be here, “mmh… shuddup…” Shrimpo's words seem to slur, he huffed, just standing near a shelf as he watched Brightney. The gears in Brightney’s head seem to turn as she raised her brow in realization.

“Well… I'm reading a book. Would you like to join me?” She asked, softening her voice as she watched Shrimpo's face scrunch up a little in thought. “... Fine.” He stomped his way over, standing over Brightney as he stared down at her. Brightney smiled, patting the space next to her, which was just another bean bag chair, but before she did Shrimpo plopped himself down on the floor, sitting next to her side. “Are you sure you want to sit there, Shrimpo? The chairs would be much bette-” “mmh-mmh.” “Okay then…” Brightney sighed before she reached for a book. Usually she'd be reading novels, but this time around Brightney chose a storybook, she hasn't touched one of these since Gardenview shut down… It felt rather nostalgic in a way. Shrimpo watched as Brightney opened the book, eyes glancing to him with a smile before she began reading, “Once upon a time…”

Shrimpo felt his brain getting fuzzy once again. That itching feeling in the back of his head getting stronger and stronger the more he listened to Brightney's voice. He pretty much stopped paying attention to the story mid way through, the words just seemed to slip away from his head, in one ear and out the other… He was now more or less just listening to Brightney's voice, a soft… soothing one. A part of him felt embarrassed, like his dignity was being washed right down the drain, but he was too comfortable to care right now. The hard floor where he sat helped him ground himself… although he would've liked to be on a chair now… he was too lazy to move, or perhaps he just couldn't move at all, his limbs sluggish. And despite having just woken up a few minutes earlier, Shrimpo was beginning to feel sleepy again. Maybe if he closed his eyes a little, Brightney wouldn't notice…

“And they lived happily ever after, the end…” Brightney said, closing the book as she glanced towards Shrimpo, the crustacean toon was nodding off, his body tilting a bit forward, like he could collapse any minute. She sighed, carefully reaching to move Shrimpo a little, letting him lean on her, his head resting on her lap. It was weird, seeing the shrimp so passive, not screaming, not stomping around, not verbally harassing everyone or being a prick… Brightney felt Shrimpo grumble something before he just melted into the physical contact, nuzzling into her lap, his eyes remained closed as he was most likely passed out by now. It was rather endearing seeing him like this. Brightney chuckled, shaking her head a little before she reached for the book she was previously reading, opening the page where she had marked as she resumed her quiet reading time, a peacefully sleeping Shrimpo resting on her lap.

“Wait, what do you mean Shrimpo's acting off? He just stole some cupcakes, that's a pretty Shrimpo thing to do if you ask me, Cos” Sprout huffed, currently putting a tray of cookie dough into the oven. “I don't know, Sprout… He just seemed off! Like, he was blowing raspberries and sticking his tongue out at me, refused to speak, too...” Cosmo sighed, resting his head on the palm of his hand as he leaned against the counter. “On second thought, yea that sounds unlike him. He's never passed up the opportunity to verbally harrass any of us…” Sprout raised his brow, rubbing his chin with his finger thoughtfully.

“Hey guys! ‘Water’ we talking about?” Finn popped up from behind the counter, causing Cosmo to let out a squeaky “Eek!” And nearly fall backwards. “Shrimpo's acting weird.” Sprout bluntly said, turning to look at Finn, whose smile never seemed to falter.

Chapter Text

Shrimpo woke up to find himself once again in his room. What happened? His memories, a jumbled mess, like they were on moving clouds that were slowly disintegrating. All that he remembered was him entering the library, where he met Brightney

“... Oh shit.” he muttered under his breath. She saw him while he was… He was so done for.

Without much thinking, Shrimpo bursted out of his room. He needed to find Brightney. Maybe tell her to keep her mouth shut. He didn't know why he thought this was a good idea. He surely shouldn't give a damn whether she told everyone, not like they'll believe her! Him? Shrimpo? Acting like a child? Hah! As if… He continued running, into the elevator and down into the lobby. He kept running, even if his stamina was rapidly declining. Taking a second break to breathe before he was on his feet again. He needed to find Brightney. He ran and ran… and…

“Wait!” Shrimpo heard a voice call out behind him. He tried to slow down but it was too late. The floor below him seemed to be wet as Shrimpo felt himself slipping, his legs losing control and his weight giving in as he was hurled forward, falling onto the floor with a loud THUMP!

Tisha quickly rushed over, slowing down once she was near the slippery parts of the floor, her mop still in hand, “Oh dear! Are you okay, Shrimpo?!” She asked, part annoyed, part worried. She wasn't all fond of the crustacean but that fall did not look very good… Shrimpo was unresponsive for a moment which only made Tisha panic even more before he shot himself up in a sitting position, looking dazed as if he was trying to comprehend his own fall. Then it hit him… and before he knew it, Shrimpo felt warm streaks down his face. “Shrimpo?” Tisha looked even more concerned now, noticing tears gushing out of his eyes. Was the fall that bad? She's never seen Shrimpo cry before… Shrimpo paused before roughly rubbing at his eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling, but that only made it worse as he tried to say something but ended up choking on a sob.

Tisha knelt awkwardly next to Shrimpo who was now sobbing quietly, whining while holding his head where he had hit it when he fell. The former was concerned to see her crustacean friend so distraught, but a part of her was so confused… Shrimpo was a tough guy, she's never seen him show any other emotion but pure, raging anger. So witnessing him crying and breaking down like a child was… new to her. Could he…?

“Hey, hey… it's alright!” Tisha softened her voice reaching to hold Shrimpo's hands, her free hand moving to examine his forehead which had a small bruise on it “Oh, that was nasty fall…” She grimaced before she looked at Shrimpo who was sniffling, no longer crying. That's good at least… “How about we get you off the ground, yea? And I'll get some ice for that?” She asked, seeing Shrimpo stick out his bottom lip into a pout. Okay, now usually she'd find him annoying, but that was stinking cute… Tisha couldn't help but chuckle as Shrimpo nodded his head, the former helped him up before she carefully dusted off the nonexistent dust on his clothes, “Alright! Let's go get some ice for that boo-boo of yours, hun” She smiled, feeling him hold onto her hand, whimpering a little while holding his head with his other. Tisha began leading Shrimpo away from the spot she was previously mopping, she ought to put a warning sign next time… although she was sure Shrimpo was too much in a rush to care checking the floor for caution signs.

They walked through the hallways of the main lobby, Shrimpo's hand clutching tightly onto Tisha's as she led him into the kitchen, Sprout and Cosmo had most definitely left by now… Those guys were always in the kitchen, baking something, but they probably went for a run, or were hanging out elsewhere, Tisha didn't bother to check. She noticed Gigi and Connie at one of the tables, seemingly chatting with eachother but paid them no mind. Upon reaching up the freezer, Tisha opened it to take out an ice pack, handing it to Shrimpo, “Here, can you hold this up to your head for me?” She asked politely, giving Shrimpo a soft smile while closing the freezer door. Shrimpo gave a small whine before he reluctantly did so, whimpering as he felt the coldness of the ice pack touch the bruise on his head. “Next time, watch where you're going, okay? Don't want anyone getting hurt now, do we?” She chuckled, seeing Shrimpo pout at her before nodding his head in shame.

...

“Why were you running in the first place?” She asked, walking out of the kitchen with Shrimpo who still held the ice pack to his forehead. Shrimpo tried to speak, his brain trying to remember or at least find the right words to express himself, finally managing to force out, “wan’ Bri’nee…” his cheek flushed in embarrassment as he huffed, his cheeks puffing out. Tisha raised her brow, finding his reaction amusing, “Brightney, huh? Well… I can take you to where she is!” She offered, “J-just so you don't get hurt again, of course!” She added, trying to make an excuse. In a way, Shrimpo's childlike behavior was making Tisha feel some sort of parental feeling… she liked taking care of people, or having something to do. She was on her way to clean Gardenview top to bottom for the third time today anyways, so maybe taking little Shrimpo here to Brightney would be a change of pace. Shrimpo's pout softened a little before he nodded, “mmhm…” he hummed, still holding onto Tisha's hand with vice grip. Gosh this felt pathetic… but that's a problem for big Shrimpo.

“Great! She's just down here!” Tisha smiled, walking with Shrimpo as they headed down the hallway.

.

.

.

“You saw that?” Connie asked, crossing her arms as she looked at the doorway where Tisha and Shrimpo had exited from.

“Saw what?” Gigi looked up at her, closing her head after having just stole something from some unfortunate toon. “N-nevermind. Must've been the wind” The ghost toon muttered under her breath, looking back to Gigi, “About what you said earlier?” “Oh right! So…”

Notes:

Chapter Text

It's been a good few days since his embarrassing encounter with Brightney and Tisha. Shrimpo still felt his face burn up everytime he sees them, then he remembers how pathetic he really was when they saw him so… vulnerable and passive. Tisha's been a lot nicer to him, she makes sure he didn't stomp around the place too aggressively. Brightney was still… well- she was still Brightney, nothing too significant changed. Shrimpo's been fighting the urge to just… regress again whenever he was around her, but of course he'd rather jump off the elevator shaft than admit it. Things have gone back to normal, Shrimpo has been trying to move past his embarrassment and regain his dignity as Gardenview's biggest bully, even though that nagging feeling for him to just lay down and let someone take care of him was still there somewhere inside the back of his brain, but Shrimpo could easily fight it off. He's no wimp.

Currently, Shrimpo was walking out of the elevator, heading up from a run, bandaids stuck to his legs and arms. Today's run had been particularly stressful, he didn't know why he went along, knowing how everyone would see him as nothing but dead weight, but like he gave a damn. The crustacean mumbled something as he saw Goob and Scraps exit the elevator, walking off together as they laughed together. Scraps was checking up on Goob, making sure that he wasn't hurt anywhere while Goob was assuring his safety. Whatever, like Shrimpo cared. He just stomped off, head high, chest puffed out as he normally would. He should check up on what Finn was doing. Not that he cared, just… wanted someone to get annoyed at.

As he headed up to Finn's room, he saw the fish bowl sitting on his bed, messing around with Barnaby. That damn toy fish… Shrimpo didn't understand why Finn liked it so much. It was dumb. And purple, who even likes the color purple?! Eugh… Finn's eyes locked on Shrimpo as he smiled, waving him over, “Hey, Shrimpo! It's nice to sea you, buddy” he winked playfully upon making his usual fish puns. Shrimpo only rolled his eyes, he was pretty much used to this… as annoying as it was.

“What seals to be the problem? You don't look very fin-tastic” Finn laughed a little, making Shrimpo grumble. The latter wanted to say something, maybe yell or make a rude remark, whatever he does usually. But he didn't know what to say. The pain in his leg from one of those twisteds was aching, his arm hurt from narrowing missing being bitten by the twisted version of Pebble. The run went horribly, even though Goob tried his best to distract those ichor leaking freaks, Shrimpo was slow and he wasn't really the stealthiest toon around. He managed to get hurt alot… He didn't know why he went on that run in the first place. Maybe he wanted to get his mind off of what happened days before, maybe he wanted a challenge, or maybe he just…

“Shrimpo? You there? Your silence is killing me” Finn chuckled nervously after he saw that Shrimpo was unresponsive. Crap, did he zone out again? “I'M FINE! STOP MAKING YOUR STUPID FISH PUNS!” Shrimpo blurted out, sounding much louder than he would've liked. Finn's brow raised before he smiled brighter again, “There's the Shrimpo I know! You've been reel silent there, pal.” He chuckled as Shrimpo stomped over, plopping himself on Finn's bed. There wasn't much Shrimpo did with Finn, he tolertaithe guy… somewhat at least. His fish puns were stupid, his fish facts we're even more so, but Shrimpo didn't mind it. Sometimes he catches himself remembering the facts that Finn tells him, specifically the crustacean facts. In a way, they kind of intrigued him…

Shrimpo spent the rest of his time in Finn's room, hearing the fish bowl rant, going on and on about fish facts and occasionally dropping in a few puns. It would be embarrassing to admit that Shrimpo had to hold in a smile every now and then. He didn't know why he liked hanging around Finn, he didn't. Finn was dumb. And his smile made Shrimpo want to punch his teeth out. But Finn was one of the people who were nice to Shrimpo, even more than everyone else. The fish bowl was always kind to him, never out of obligation, or for peacekeeping intentions, or he never faked his niceness to the crustacean. Finn was just… Finn. It made Shrimpo feel something fuzzy in his brain when Finn blabbered on and on about fish. He made him feel… safe.

“Say, I heard from Cosmo and Sprout that you've been acting weird recently. Anything about it?” Finn spoke, looking at Shrimpo as he temporarily paused his rant. Shrimpo blinked, snapping himself out of his trance, “Weird?! I'm not weird, who said I was weird? I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!" He raised his voice, face red as he clenched his fist. “Woah woah! Clam down there, buddy! I was just asking” Finn chuckled, raising his arms up a little as he noticed how defensive Shrimpo got. The crustacean calmed down a little, his face still red with embarrassment, “Whatever! Nothing is wrong with me.” He grumbled, crossing his arms as he looked away from Finn in a rather childish fashion. Finn blinked before he smirked, raising an eyebrow

“Oh… I sea how this is… You've been eeling little, huh?” “What?! No! I'm not!” Shrimpo whipped his head around to look at Finn, glaring at him with a pout. “Come on, Shrimpo! You don't gotta hide it from me! We're friends, aren't we?” Finn chuckled reassuringly. Shrimpo shook his head, “No! I'm not!” He protested, unable to think of any other excuse. He wasn't little. He wasn't some wimp. He was Shrimpo - Gardenview's biggest bully! He. Wasn't. LITTLE!!!

“I'm not little! I'm not!” Shrimpo gritted his teeth, his breaths getting heavy as he kicked his feet. Finn watched as the crustacean began having a meltdown, like a toddler. It was… weird at first, but this wasn't much different from Shrimpo's usual tantrum. Finn just sat on his bed, stunned while Shrimpo kept repeating “I'm not!” And “No little!” For a few minutes, the former didn't know what to do in this situation. So, he watched Shrimpo cry, tears of frustration streaming down his cheek, his face red as he kicked his feet and lightly slammed his fists onto the mattress of Finn's bed. After a little while, Finn finally spoke up, “Okay okay! You're not little…” he said, watching Shrimpo stop his flailing to look at him with a pout, his bottom lip wobbling as tears continued to fall from his eyes. “You're not little” Finn repeated, dropping the fish puns for now as Shrimpo sniffled, “Not little…” the crustacean toon clarified, rubbing his eyes with his arms. “Okay! Not little it is…” Finn gave Shrimpo a soft smile before he thought of what to do…

.

.

.

“Thi’ ‘s dumb” Shrimpo huffed, arms crossed as Finn placed more of his fish plushies onto his bed. The crustacean watched as more stuffed fish were placed onto the bed where he sat, “Well, nothing wrong with decorating my bed with my fishy friends!” Finn said with a bright smile before he sat on his bed again. Shrimpo opened his mouth to say something but was stopped when Finn held out a stuffed animal in front of him, a goldfish plush, “Here! His name is Mr. Bubbles!” He offered it to Shrimpo, who against his better judgement, snatches the plush a little too quickly. “Thas’ a dum name” Shrimpo sniffled, still not done crying but it wasn't anything intense like before. The little crustacean stared at the plush in his hand, he wanted to throw it, he wasn't a baby, he didn't need a stupid toy to calm himself down. He needed…

“Well, how about Mr. Jaws? He reminds me of you” Finn chuckled, holding out a shark plush. Shrimpo looked at Finn with a confused pout, “Well, y'know! Cause you're always grumpy and Mr. jaws looks pretty grumpy, too” Finn chuckled before Mr. Bubbles came flying at his face, not too hard but a light smack that made the water in his bowl squish around. “‘m not grumpy!” Shrimpo protested, pouting even harder as Finn chuckled, watching him snatch the shark plush and hugging it to his chest. “Oh, You aren't? I could've sworn you were-” Finn was cut off by Shrimpo making an annoyed whine, “okay okay… I'll stop” the fishbowl sighed, raising his arms up in a surrendering gesture, his smile remained.

The two sat in silence again for another while. This time, Shrimpo was hugging onto Mr. Jaws, sniffling every now and then while Finn just sat nearby, occasionally swaying his feet idly off the bed. “You know… There's nothing wrong with being little, right?” Finn finally said, hearing Shrimpo huff, the crustacean hugging onto the shark plush tighter. “There's no shame in it. You've got eelings, it's all fine!” A small whine of annoyance from the little Shrimpo caused Finn to chuckle. “Mmh… ‘m not little. Not a wimp…” Shrimpo mumbled, nuzzling his head into the shark plush as Finn turned to look at him, “Well, I don't think you'd be a wimp for being little, Shrimpo… Sometimes you should loosen up a little! Nothing wrong with getting to feel safe once in a while” He chuckled, reaching to pat Shrimpo's head.

Shrimpo stayed silent, he was thinking, well, trying to. It wasn't easy thinking when your brain is just… mush, or like it's trying to float up into the clouds. Finn had a point in a way… Shrimpo's always been trying to act all tough, like a big scary guy that no one is actually scared of. He wasn't much of an intimidating presence for many toons, more or less like an annoying bug that's pestering everyone. But Shrimpo wasn't sure if he wanted to be this way. That's just how he was, for the longest time he has remembered himself being like this… But that time when he was in the library with Brightney, or when he was with Tisha, Shrimpo felt… safe. He felt like he didn't have to yell, or be angry, or act like he hates everyone. He could relax, without anyone being annoyed at him, without judgment…

.

.

.

Shrimpo ended up staying the night at Finn's room. Currently, the crustacean was laying down on Finn's bed, tucked in under the covers while the latter sat on a chair next to his bed. “All nice and comfy?” Finn asked, arranging all the fish plushies to surround Shrimpo like a mini army protecting their captain. “Mhm…” Shrimpo nodded his head sleepily, his arms still clinging to Mr. Jaws as his eyes drooped. Finn was nice enough to let Shrimpo take his bed, the fish bowl wouldn't mind sleeping on the chair, or on his beanbag chair in the corner of the room. “Whale, in that case, swish dreams, Shrimpo!” Finn chuckled, making his last fish puns and gaining a small whine from Shrimpo before the crustacean toon dozed off, feeling safe with all his fishy friends who surrounded him, ready to fight off all the bad dreams.

This felt nice…

.

.

.

Finn watched Shrimpo fall asleep as his eyes softened. He's never seen Shrimpo this peaceful before. The fishbowl sighed, he wanted to get something to eat.

Sprout and Astro were in the kitchen this time, Cosmo probably went to sleep. Poor guy must be exhausted from the chaotic run he went on today. “Oh hey, Finn!” Sprout greeted upon seeing Finn enter. The latter gave him a smile, “Hey guys! Just came to get a snack. Water you up to?” He asked, leaning on the counter as he looked at the duo. “Are you alright Finn? You seem tired.” Astro spoke up before Sprout could answer, pointing out how Finn seemed slightly less energetic as usual. “Oh, whale you sea, I was just helping Shrimpo with something! He's been eeling a little odd recently!” He said, giving them a small wink before he went to the fridge to get something to snack on before leaving the kitchen, “Whale, I'll be heading out now! Sea you later!” And with that, Finn exited the kitchen

Sprout furrowed his brow. “That again? First Cosmo now Finn…” Astro hummed, tilting his head a little, “Is something bothering you, Sprout?” He asked, his voice soothing as Sprout heaved out a heavy sigh, “Nothing… I just-” a small pause, “People keep saying something is wrong with Shrimpo…”

“I see…” Astro said, looking at Sprout before he glanced out at the doorway that led out of the kitchen.

If what Sprout says was true, he might need to pay our grouchy friend a visit sometime.

Chapter 6: Caregiver assemble! #1

Summary:

Basically Brightney, Tisha and Finn coming together to talk.

This chapter is a filler cause I suck at writing with more than two people and I have no ideas for a good chapter 💔

Chapter Text

“So…” Tisha said, lightly drumming her fingers on her lap as she looked at the other two in the room. Brightney and Finn were seated next to eachother, Shrimpo was currently asleep, the little crustacean curled up, head resting on Brightney's lap as she gently patted with his head. Tisha clicked her tongue, she thought more people would've noticed how Shrimpo had been less snappy recently. To be frank, since that time with Finn, Shrimpo's been less embarrassed of having to regress. Usually he'd come to either Brightney or Finn, but Tisha would occasionally catch him mid-regression and offer to care for him, “I guess there's only three of us? I thought more people would've noticed by now” Tisha glanced down at Shrimpo who was snuggling further into Brightney's lap. “Well, I wouldn't blame them,” Finn shrugged, leaning back a little with his usual smile “Afterall, Shrimpo doesn't talk much about any-fin” he chuckled, raising his eyebrow as he looked at the other two. Tisha let out an awkward chuckle while Brightney smiled a little, “Alright… maybe calm down a little with the fish puns, Finn…” The lampshade told him. Finn still smiled cheekily, “Awh, but I reely can't! My fish puns are irre-fish-ible!” He heard an annoyed whine coming from Shrimpo on Brightney's lap and only smiled brighter, “see? Even the little Shrimpo agrees!” Another whine to clarify that “No, I do NOT agree.” Tisha sighed, crossing her arms. “Well, at least Shrimpo's been less hesitant to regress around us” She said, earning a small nod from Brightney, “Indeed. It's rather nice getting to read him stories. He's been actually interested in all the picture books I have got to offer” Brightney said, perking up a little as her hand gently brushed down Shrimpo's tail, the little thing twitched for a moment before settling down again. “Shrimpo's actually really peaceful when he's like this” Finn commented. “I mean, he doesn't really yell or stomp around” he added, Tisha nodding along. “It's kind of uncanny…” the tissuebox sighed, it's still weird sometimes seeing Shrimpo so peaceful and passive. “But you have to admit, he is adorable” Brightney chimed in, “Oh for shore!” Finn chuckled, reaching over to give Shrimpo's head a little pat, earning a small sigh out of him as the little crustacean nuzzled his head more into Brightney's lap. Tisha nodded, Brightney was right, Shrimpo was rather cute when he's all little, his usual grouchy and aggressive behaviors making way for small pouts, a lot of pouting came from Shrimpo. It was adorable, how he would be pouting most of the time when he's little, never really smiling. But, the three of them learnt to manage… “So, about his regression… should we…” Tisha spoke up again, trailing off, “tell anyone?” Brightney finished her sentence. Tisha nodded in affirmation. “Well, I'm not sure. On one side, telling everyone would be a good option, so everyone would be aware of when Shrimpo's going to slip… but at the same time, it would be an invasion of Shrimpo's privacy.” Brightney said, glancing down at the sleeping toon in her lap. “Oh right… Shrimpo's not very open with people…” Finn clicked his tongue. “Well, we could try to keep this a secret?” Tisha suggested, “I mean… three of us can handle Shrimpo just fine, right? Especially you, Finn. Shrimpo hangs out with you a lot, doesn't he?” She pointed to Finn who perked up, “Yep! He does. Guess you can call us two fish in a pond!” He lightly nudged the air, raising his brow with his cheeky grin. “Well, I think that pretty much settles it… for now at least” Tisha mumbled under her breath. “Now that you both are here… would you care to stay?” Brightney asked, Tisha smiled and shook her head, getting up from her seat “I'd love to, but I'm afraid I have messes to clean up… Tell lil Shrimpo I said hi though!” Tisha excused herself before heading out the door. Finn got up, “I'd have to leave, too. It was nice talking though! Sea you around, Brightney!” And with that, the fishbowl saw himself out. “Well, at least you're staying with me, aren't you?” Brightney chuckled, looking down at Shrimpo who was still asleep on her lap, not a care in the world.

.

.

.

Shrimpo yawned, sitting up as he rubbed his eyes. Upon regaining his senses, he saw Brightney who was peacefully reading, “Hello, Shrimpo. Did you have a nice nap?” She smiled, looking down from her book to meet his gaze.

“shuddup… Your light is annoying. Turn it off…” Shrimpo grumbled before he got up, dusting himself off and walking off. Brightney chuckled, watching Shrimpo stomp his way out the door, “Come again soon!” Shrimpo huffed at the sound of her voice. He wanted to shout back that he'll never come back to the library again, but he knew deep down that he would come crawling back again… It was a safe place, with someone who made him feel safe…

But he couldn't deny that he did feel better after a good nap.

Chapter 7: See it for yourself (Sprout + Tisha)

Summary:

During a run, Shrimpo nearly gives himself brain damage, luckily Tisha was there. Although... Someone else was secretly lurking around.

Not much regression in this chapter but eh

Chapter Text

“Shrimpo, are you sure you want to join a run today?” Tisha asked nervously, walking alongside Shrimpo as the two entered the elevator. “YES! SHRIMPO IS NOT A WIMP. SHRIMPO CAN HANDLE HIMSELF!” Shrimpo snapped back, crossing his arms. Luckily, it was currently just the two of them, but Tisha remembered a few too s talking about joining a run soon. As they waited, Tisha couldn't help but steal a few glances at Shrimpo. Since her encounter with the “little Shrimpo”, Tisha couldn't help but feel like she should keep an eye on him. What if he regresses in a run? What if he gets himself hurt? It was silly of her to worry so much. Shrimpo could handle himself just fine! … Right?

Her train of thoughts were quickly cut short when she heard a few toons enter the elevator, Rodger, Looey, Yatta, and Sprout. The other four didn't really pay much mind to Shrimpo, seeing that Shrimpo didn't bother looking or acknowledging anyone. Tisha, however, gave them a small wave, flashing her usual gentle smile as the elevator door soon slammed shut, making its' descent to the lower floors…

.

.

.

The elevator was quite peaceful, Yatta and Looey were busy talking, with the former being particularly more chatty than the latter. Sprout was leaned against the elevator wall, arms crossed. Rodger was standing idly by, tapping his foot. Tisha wasn't in the mood for any small talk, she had an urge to talk with Shrimpo since he hasn't said a word, not to shout, not to complain. He was just… quiet. It was nice but also worrisome. After some consideration, Tisha opened her mouth but was interrupted by the large metal door of the elevator opening. “Alright, I'd rather we finish this sooner than later.” Rodger said before he walked out of the elevator, Looey quickly running out to gather the twisteds for the others to peacefully do their work.

.

.

.

Many floors later, everyone were… a little roughed up, but mostly fine. Looey was currently bandaging himself up while Tisha helped Shrimpo with his bleeding arm, the crustacean had gotten in a pretty sticky situation on the previous floor with the twisted version of Toodles. The little gremlin leaped on him due to Looey not paying good attention and bit his arm, not too hard but enough to break skin. Thankfully Yatta happened to be there with an air horn and was able to spare Shrimpo from being mauled. “There… that should do it” Tisha said, getting up as she dusted herself off, checking to make sure Shrimpo was alright. The shrimp only glared at her, no yelling. He's been less aggressive since they entered the elevator. No one seemed to notice his change in behavior. Since last week, Shrimpo's been on better behavior, he hasn't yelled as much, hell, he kinda stopped threatening to pop Looey and cause harm to other toons. It was… odd. Tisha, however, knew full well why that was. Part of her was glad that Shrimpo was opening up, even if it was only to her, Finn and Brightney.

Sprout let out a small grumble, eyeing Tisha and Shrimpo. Since this run started, Tisha hasn't left Shrimpo's side, even if Shrimpo had told her to go away a few times… Sprout has had his eye on the crustacean for a little while, maybe more than he would've liked. At first he tried to ignore all the “complaints” from other toons, how Shrimpo was acting weird. And it wasn't like he was doing anything bad, it's actually because he HASN'T done anything bad. For a long time. And it was weird yet amusing at the same time. Sprout tried to ask Finn about Shrimpo, all he got was a “Whale, it's a sea-cret!” Followed by a wink before Finn would walk off, leaving questions unanswered. “What are you hiding…” he mumbled under his breath, staring at Shrimpo who noticed his glance and adverted his gaze elsewhere, his face still grouchy as every other day.

.

.

.

The elevator door opened and everyone stepped out. As planned, Looey ran out first to find the twisted while the others worked on machines. Tisha and Shrimpo were headed off together, Yatta skipped her way towards the opposite direction, Rodger did the same, leaving Sprout standing alone at the elevator, whose doors had slammed shut. Against his better judgement, Seedly soon found himself following after Tisha and Shrimpo, trailing behind them but making sure not to be spotted.

“Shrimpo, don't bang your head on the machine like that” Tisha kindly scolded as she was doing another machine not too far away from him. “NO! I'M BETTER AT THIS THAN YOU SO SHUT UP!” Shrimpo yelled, still banging his head against the glass, not too hard to crack the thing but enough to sound like it hurt. Tisha sighed, she didn't know why she bothered following him, he obviously seemed fine… her machine dinged as Tisha backed away, heading over to where Shrimpo was, waiting for him to finish doing his. “WHY DO YOU KEEP FOLLOWING ME?! GO AWAY!” He snarled at her, causing Tisha to sigh again and place her hands on her hips, “Because I don't want you getting hurt.” “SHRIMPO IS NOT A CHILD! LEAVE SHRIMPO ALONE.” He shouted, banging his head on the machine again, a bit much harder this time as he nearly fell back, feeling dizzy. “ARGH! STUPID MACHINE! STUPID STUPID I HATE YOU!” He cried out in frustration, reaching a hand to his forehead, his teeth gritted.

Sprout stood by a couple of boxes, peeking out to look at the two toons ahead. He was hidden pretty well, considering they hadn't spotted him. Everything seemed normal enough… Shrimpo was being an ass, and Tisha was… hovering over him, odd. Sprout could've sworn Tisha had never been like that with Shrimpo before, why has that changed? “See? I told you not to bang your head like that!” Tisha groaned, kneeling down to check up on Shrimpo, “Here… Can you stand?” She asked, her voice soft as Shrimpo grumbled, sticking his bottom lip out. Was he… pouting?! Sprout watched as Shrimpo whined, kicking his feet a little, as if throwing a tantrum, his head obviously growing a bruise from the hard hit. "I HATE YOU! STULID MACHINE!" Shrimpo continued his little fit, lightly slamming his fist on the floor. His head was hurting and the fact that he was crying and throwing a tantrum like a child wasn't helping the situation. "Shrimpo..." Tisha frowned, looking at Shrimpo who glared up at her with tears rolling down his cheek before he stretched his arms out towards her, letting out an irritated noise.

Tisha sighed, “Alright… come here you…” she reached over and lifted Shrimpo up with ease. It wasn't difficult, knowing that Shrimpo was shorter, much shorter than most of the other toons. Shrimpo whimpered but nuzzled into Tisha's dress as she hushed him.

“What the…” Sprout thought out loud as Tisha perked up, glancing towards the boxes, “Who's there?” She called out. Shit… she heard him. Sprout slowly stepped out, “Uh… hi.” He said awkwardly, glancing at Tisha who blinked, a bit dumbfounded. “Oh, uhm… hi Sprout.” She chuckled nervously, feeling Shrimpo clinging tighter onto her, whining at them being caught…

“So, that's the ‘acting weird’ Cosmo was talking about?!” Sprout asked in disbelief, finishing the machine that was originally Shrimpo's. Tisha was currently sat on the ground, Shrimpo on her lap as the little crustacean nuzzled his head into the crook of her neck. “Uh… maybe, yes?” Tisha said with uncertainty, shrugging her shoulders a little as she reached to pat Shrimpo's back reassuringly. “How long has this been going for? I mean- how many people know of this?” Sprout asked, glancing between the machine and Tisha. “Uh… maybe for about a little more than a week now… and uh… only me, Finn and Brightney know” she said, watching Sprout's brows furrow. “This explains so much… I mean, it makes sense now… his overall behavior, his… well, he hasn't caused a scene for a while… I just thought-” a look from Tisha, “... Actually nevermind.” Sprout sighed, backing up after hearing the small ding! from the machine.

Tisha and Sprout both sat on the floor, Shrimpo still on Tisha's lap, seemingly asleep now as his grip on her loosened. “So… Do you guys plan on telling everyone?” Sprout asked, trying not to sound awkward. “I mean… it's all up to Shrimpo, it's his secret…” she shrugged, gently brushing her hand on Shrimpo's tail, the thing twitching a bit before settling again. “Fair enough…” Sprout hummed, adverting his gaze for a moment

“... So, how do we get him back to the elevator? I mean… he's… like that” Sprout spoke up, gesturing to the sleeping Shrimpo. “I don't know… I mean, I don't want the others to know of this… of him being yknow…” A small nod from Sprout. “We've been down here long enough… we could just make up a lie to head back up.” Tisha turned to look at Sprout with a raised brow, “Lying? I- wow, never knew you were that kind of toon, Sprout” She said, faking a disappointed look as she shook her head, “What would your handler think…” Sprout snorted and lightly nudged her, “Oh, shush you… Unless you can think of a better plan.” “Touché…” Tisha sighed before she tried to get up but failed to, as Shrimpo's weight was completely on her now.

“I can't move…” she mumbled, earning a wheeze from Sprout, “Here… let me get him off your arms for a bit” he stood up, reaching to scoop Shrimpo up, letting his head rest on his shoulder. The crustacean toon stirred a bit, whimpering as his comfortable position on Tisha's lap was changed, but quickly settled in Sprout's arms. “Wow, he's really light. Like… I could probably throw him like basketball.” Sprout commented, adjusting Shrimpo in his arms. “I'd rather you didn't…” Tisha sighed, getting up and dusting herself off before she heard the faint sound of the elevator opening. “Welp… looks like it's time to go” Sprout mumbled before he began walking back with Tisha not too far behind.

.

.

.

“Uh… what's the matter with him?” Rodger asked, pointing at the sleeping Shrimpo in Sprout's arms. “He hit his head and knocked himself out” Sprout interrupted before Tisha could say anything. Rodger gave Sprout a weird look before shrugging his shoulder, “Well in that case, perhaps we should head back up?” he said, turning to Looey and Yatta. “Yea, why not! I'm feeling exhausted!” Yatta said, leaning back on the wall as she stretched her arms up with a tired groan. Looey gave him a smile and nodded, “Sure! I think today's run was pretty good but I could go for something to eat now…”

And so, they all made their ascent back up to the lobby.

.

.

.

“Wow, he's really out cold.” Sprout muttered, placing Shrimpo in his bed as he carefully tucked the little in. Shrimpo stirred again but got comfortable under the covers. Tisha reached for his shark plush, slipping it under the covers for Shrimpo. Finn had decided to let Shrimpo keep Mr. Jaws after Shrimpo began regressing around him, and despite his grouchiness against having a stupid toy in his possession, Shrimpo's been taking good care of the plush. Not a single rip or tear on the stuffed animal, which was quite surprising if you take all of Shrimpo's stuff into consideration. Those things gets torn to shred once Shrimpo lays his hands on them.

“You could've gone for a better excuse… I mean, knocking himself out cold? Really?” Tisha huffed, glancing back to look at Sprout with an unamused look, “What? It's only fair! With how much he bangs his head on those machines, he's bound to get a concussion at some point…” Sprout protested. “Whatever… let's leave, we might wake him and I don't want to handle another tantrum right now…” Tisha sighed, walking out as she dragged Sprout along with her.

Shrimpo let out a huff as he clung onto Mr. Jaws, sleeping peacefully. Today was short, he did appreciate Tisha being with him… Even though is bigger self might've been annoyed by her presence. But for now, he only wanted to sleep peacefully…

Hopefully this time he'll have good dreams.

Notes:

Guh Seedly gets to see Shrimpo in full action (not really)

Most of these chapters are just Shrimpo sleeping at the end... Wonder what that's going to hint at

Jk, I don't know what else to do because most of this is me projecting my own regression onto Shrimpo and I sleep a lot soooooo yea 😅

Anyways, make sure to leave down any suggestions 🫴🫴🫴 cause this writer's block will be the death of me

That's all! Stay safe guys <3

Chapter 8: Bad dreams, go away! (Astro)

Summary:

Shrimpo has a nightmare, oh no! But don't worry, Astro is here!

(This was requested and coincidentally I was planning on writing this chapter tonight so yippee!!!)

Chapter Text

Shrimpo opened his eyes. He was in his dream again, well, he didn't know if he'd consider it a dream. Around him was red, a lot of red, like in your face kind of red. There weren't a lot of colors in his dreams, mostly just red. One who is fond of literature might say it's a symbolism of his constant anger towards everything, but Shrimpo could give less of a damn. He didn't know what would be waiting for him this time. It was always the same dream all the time anyway, red walls, people laughing in his ear, mocking him, belittling him. Shrimpo should be used to it by now, but he didn't know why he still let some of it get to his head.

But right now, it was peaceful, just him and the vibrant red that surrounds him. Shrimpo felt himself sit down, just waiting… waiting for something to occur. He waited… and waited… hoping to either wake up, or for the voices to start again.

.

.

.

He waited…

.

.

.

And waited…

.

.

.

And waited…

.

.

.

And…

“You're pathetic, you know that, right?” A voice sounded behind him. That voice, Finn's voice, Shrimpo didn't turn around. He squeezed his eyes shut like that would drown out the noise. Of course it had to start with Finn.

“What happened to being Gardenview's toughest bully? And to think we were even friends.” Finn's voice continued, mocking him. It's not him. It's not Finn. It's not Finn... Shrimpo kept his eyes tightly shut, he couldn't move so covering his ears wasn't an option, not that it was to begin with. “Awh… is little Shrimpy going to cry?” A new voice appeared… Tisha's voice. “Go on. Cry. Let's see how pathetic you really are under all that!” Shrimpo gritted his teeth. Shut up… it's not real. She's not real. Finn's not real. Everything isn't real. He just had to wake up...

“I thought you were supposed to be better than everyone.” Finn spoke up again, "But you're really just a wimp, aren't you? Little Shrimpy's just a big baby, isn't that right? How pitiful." Shrimpo curled in on himself, he could move to cover his ears but no matter how hard he pressed his hands against him head, the voices continued to echo throughout his brain, taunting him… he just needed to wake up. Wake up… wake up

“Oh, little Shrimpo… all alone.” Brightney's voice rang out, the other two were silent now. Shrimpo could feel tears forming in his eyes, but he dared not open them, he couldn't cry. He can't let these LOSERS get to him! He was better than this! He was better than all of them! He was SHRIMPO! THE TOUGHEST AND STRONGEST TOON OF GARDENVIEW. HE'S STRONGER THAN THIS. “No one cares… We don't care about you.” Brightney continued, her footsteps echoing as he felt her inch closer to him. Cold hands grabbed onto his tail, yanking his head upwards as his eyes soon met Brightney's, her light a bright red glow that felt almost blinding, it irritated his eyes.

“You are nothing but dead weight to us.”

.

.

.

Shrimpo gasped, jolting up from his bed. He felt his heart pounding in his chest. And then it just happened, tears gushed out from his eyes, streaming down his face as he choked on a sob. He couldn't seem to stop, sitting there on his bed as he cried, not loud enough to wake anyone, but enough for him to hear how his voice was cracking with each hiccup, each sniffled, each sob. He clutched onto his shark plush, his chest felt heavy and he could still feel how sore his tail was where Brightney had grabbed him in his dream.

So Shrimpo sat there, sobbing pathetically. He wanted someone to hold him, someone, anyone. But he felt scared, what if what the three in his dream said was true? Did they like taking care of him, or were they doing it all out of obligation? Or was it because they pitied him, and only did it to make him feel better? That thought made him wail a bit louder. He wanted someone to hear his cries, it could be that stupid Boxten or that dumb Glisten for all he cared. Their rooms were on the same floor as his… Surely they might hear his sobs… Would they come to comfort him if they did? Would anyone come to comfort him?

.

.

.

The sound of Shrimpo's door creaking open caught his attention. Shrimpo sniffled, turning his head towards the door, hoping to see…

Astro.

The little crustacean’s face scrunched up in displeasure as he pulled his covers over his head. “Shrimpo? Little one, are you alright?” Astro carefully closed the door as he walked over to sit by Shrimpo's bed. Shrimpo made a small, yet shaky huff, his blanket still over his head, “Go ‘way!” He said, his voice muffled through the blanket but you could hear the pout beneath it. Astro titled his head a little before he chuckled softly, “I'm afraid I can't do that…” he said, still looking at Shrimpo who was hidden under the covers.

“Go ‘way, Badstro!” The crustacean muffled again, sounding irritated. It was all Astro's fault! “I'm here to help you, little one…” Astro spoke in his low, soothing voice. Shrimpo fell silent for a moment before he sniffled, “Badstro!” He whined and lightly hit his fist on the mattress in frustration, “You giv' bad dream! Go ‘way!”

Astro's expression softened, “I didn't give you bad dreams, bud…” he tried to reassure him but little Shrimpy wasn't buying it, “Liar! Liarstro!” He pouted harder under his blanket. Astro sighed, shaking his head with a soft smile, oh this was going to be hard… “Shrimpo, dear, can you come out from under there?” He spoke, “mmh-mmh! Go ‘way!” The blanket moved, swaying side to side indicating shaking of a head. “Please? Could you please come out for me, Shrimpo?” Astro softened his voice, trying to coax the little out. Shrimpo fell silent again, and slowly but surely began to peer his head out from under the blanket, his eyes poking out first to glare at Astro.

“There you are… Hello, little one” Astro smiled reassuringly at Shrimpo who lifted the blanket down a little to blow raspberries at him, earning a chuckle from the moon toon, “You still don't trust me, huh?” He sighed, readjusting his hold on his own blanket so he was covering himself. Shrimpo puffed out his cheeks a little, shaking his head with a small “Nuh-uh”

“Badstro.” The little narrowed his eyes at Astro, trying to seem intimidating but was far from it as Shrimpo couldn't be as lean and mean like when he was big, not like he was scary to begin with anyway… Astro sighed, reaching an arm out to gently place on Shrimpo's head, only for the latter to lean more into his touch, whimpering rather pitifully. “I hate you…!” Shrimpo whined, feeling tears welling up in his eyes again, “Badstro givin’ bad dreams!” Astro softened his eyes again as he caressed Shrimpo's cheek with his thumb, “Oh, starlight… I didn't give you those dreams… Do you want to talk about it?” He asked, knowing a bit of what Shrimpo saw in his nightmare, but not the entirety of it. Shrimpo hiccuped and shook his head rapidly at the mention of it. He didn't wanna talk about it! He didn't wanna remember seeing his caregivers faces, full of resentment, he didn't want to remember their voices, taunting and mocking him… they were meanies! He hates meanies!

“shhh… it's okay, we won't have to talk about it if it makes you uncomfortable…” Astro frowned, maybe asking about it was a touchy subject… “Would you like a hug?” He asked, earning an immediately nod and a whine from Shrimpo who nearly threw himself at him. Astro managed to catch him though, his blanket nearly falling off in the process, but that wasn't his priority right now.

“Shhh… there there… I've got you…” Astro wrapped three of his arms around Shrimpo, who began sobbing again, clinging onto Astro like a lifeline. The moon reached a free hand over to rub circular motions on Shrimpo's back, hushing him. “Shhh… let it all out, little one… I'm here” Shrimpo sniffled before the tears continued. Usually he would feel embarrassed about this… Shrimpo wasn't one for physical contact, but when he was in this state? It was the only thing he ever craved, the only thing he wanted. Astro's hugs felt nice… maybe nicer than Brightney's, or Tisha's. The guy had four arms, pretty convenient for hugging a distressed little.

Eventually, Shrimpo did calm down. His sobs dying down, reduced to small whimpers and a lot of sniffling. Astro stayed silent the whole time, occasionally whispering reassurance to him, patting his back, holding him close. “There we go… Do you feel better now?” Astro asked, glancing down at Shrimpo who glanced up at him. Shrimpo whimpered but managed to nod his head, still clinging onto Astro.

Astro hummed, wiping away the crustacean's tears with his hand, “That felt nice, didn't it? A good cry did you well?” He cooed, his eyes staring down at Shrimpo who nodded again. “Good cry…” Shrimpo's voice came out a bit shaky, his head nuzzling into the crook of Astro's neck.

.

.

.

They both sat in silence for a moment, Shrimpo a bit exhausted from literally crying his eyes out, and Astro… he was trying to think of what to do next. “How old do you feel right now, bud?” Astro asked, looking down at Shrimpo who looked up at him, seemingly caught off guard by such a question. No one's ever asked him his age when he was little, maybe they all assumed how old he mentally was at that time… The crustacean stared at Astro, and then at his own fingers, seemingly trying to count his own digits. He didn't even knowing how old he was…

Soon, Shrimpo hesitantly held up two digits, whimpering as he nuzzled his face deeper into Astro. “Aw, so you're a little little, huh?” He cooed, gently brushing his hand against Shrimpo's tail as he nodded into the crook of his neck. The main chuckled, “It's okay, Shrimpo… no need to feel ashamed about it.” He reassured him as he began to slowly rock himself and Shrimpo back and forth a little. Shrimpo whined but soon settled down, letting out a sigh as he wrapped his arms around Astro's neck, resting his head against the main’s shoulder. “What do you say we get you some warm milk and then go back to sleep, huh?” Astro asked, he could sense that the little was getting tired. “Mmh-mmh! No wanna ‘eep…” Shrimpo shook his head, trying to protest but let out a yawn, only confirming Astro's intuition. “No? You seem pretty sleepy to me, little one…” Astro chuckled, lightly stroking Shrimpo's tail as the latter grumbled, still shaking his head against Astro's shoulder, “No! Wan’ stay up!” Looks like the little one was stubborn… go figure.

“Okay… you can stay up. But we're still gonna get warm milk, okay?” Astro said in a gentle tone. Shrimpo paused for a moment but nodded his head. Warm milk did sound pretty good right now…

.

.

.

Astro found himself walking into the kitchen, Shrimpo resting in his arms as the main held him by his hip, his blanket draped over the little crustacean like a mini cape. Astro did feel a bit awkward being out in the open without covering himself, but it was late and Shrimpo seemed to like his new little cape. And who was Astro to deny this little one?

Shrimpo was actually quite behaved when he was sleepy. It was quite contrasting to see how different he was when he was regressed to when he wasn't. Astro could see why the other three, and Sprout, would've prefered seeing Shrimpo all cuddly like this… it was nice in a way.

The moon found himself walking to the fridge, opening it and taking out a carton of milk, pouring it into a mug before heating it up in the microwave. “We really need to get you your own sippy cup…” he mumbled, hearing the microwave ding as he took out the mug, gently blowing on the milk to make sure it wasn't too hot before handing it to Shrimpo who shakily took the mug into his hands. “Careful, little one…” Astro said as he used his power to support the bottom of the mug so Shrimpo wouldn't drop it while drinking.

Shrimpo took the cup, unsteadily lifting it up to his mouth as he began chugging the whole thing. Astro was right, he would've liked a sippy cup, but no way did he wanna admit it. It was embarrassing to even think about, even though the thought was tempting… Shrimpo felt the warm milk slide right down his throat, it felt nice. Soon enough, he brought the mug away from his lips with a content sigh, leaving behind a little milk mustache which he licked off. “All done.” He held the mug out to Astro who took it. “Good job, sweetie…” Astro said, placing the mug in the sink. Hopefully Sprout wouldn't mind having to clean this tomorrow…

“Mmh…” Shrimpo yawned, leaning against Astro again, “‘m eepy…” he mumbled, hiding his face in the crook of the main's neck. Astro raised his brow, “Oh? But I thought you didn't want to sleep?” He chuckled, poking Shrimpo's cheek with his finger. Shrimpo whined in annoyance, batting at Astro's hand, “Nuh uh…! Didn't say dat!” He huffed, pouting at him. “Hmm? I could've sworn you did…” Astro placed a finger under his chin in a thinking gesture, walking towards the exit to head back to the elevator. “you think wrong! Sillystro!” Shrimpo said, giggling a little as he sleepily rested his head on Astro's shoulder.

“Huh… guess I must've, Sillystro indeed…” Astro chuckled, shaking his head as he stepped into the elevator, cringing at the fluorescent lights before the elevator began ascending…

.

.

.

Astro placed Shrimpo into his bed, “There we go… all nice and cozy, little one?” He asked, earning a nod from Shrimpo who reached for Mr. Jaws, hugging him close. “badstro?” Shrimpo spoke up, frowning a little as he looked up at Astro who raised a brow. “No more bad dreams.” the crustacean stuck his bottom lip out into a little pout. Astro sighed, smiling softly, “No more bad dreams.” He repeated, sitting down on Shrimpo's bed, next to the little, “I'll be right here, okay?” A small nod from Shrimpo.

“You make bad dreams go ‘way?” Shrimpo looked at Astro with tired eyes, trying to keep himself awake to see what Astro would say, but before he could, Shrimpo felt himself succumb to sleep, his eyes fluttering shut.

Astro hummed, reaching to place a hand on Shrimpo's head as it glowed a faint cyan, “Sweet dreams, Shrimpo…” He said in a hushed tone.

He supposed he should stay here for tonight… Just to keep those pesky nightmares away…

And for the first night, Shrimpo felt himself smile a little in his sleep, maybe for tonight, the scary red walls would no longer torment him.

Notes:

Whew! This was nice to write! Something short and sweet :3

I originally planned to have Boxten be the cg for this chapter but got request for Astro. And who was I to deny? Besides I think Astro would fit more.

Maybe Boxten might get his turn another chapter 😔

Anyways, if you guys have any more suggestions for any potential CGs, feel free to comment below!

That's all, have a good day and stay safe <3

Chapter 9: A little upgrade! (Brightney)

Chapter Text

Shrimpo roamed the hallways. He was beginning to feel his head getting all fuzzy again, which was not all that ideal. Tisha was was on a run, Finn was… somewhere. And he didn't wanna go to Sprout. So he chose the best option, the person he felt safest around currently.

As he stormed into the library, Shrimpo huffed. “Oh! Hello, Shrimpo! Do you need anything?” Brightney turned to look at Shrimpo with a soft smile. The lamp was currently trying to reorganize all the books in the library. Without a word, the crustacean stomped towards her, reaching his arms out and made grabby hands towards her. He wanted a hug. Brightney's face softened, “Oh? Little again, are we?” She smiled, placing the book in her hand down as she went over to wrap her arms around him, gently lifting him off the ground into a small hug. Shrimpo sighed contently, nuzzling into Brightney for a moment before he felt himself being lowered down again, whining in protest.

“I know… just give me a moment to finish reorganizing, okay? I'll get back to you in a bit” she gave him a reassuring smile before she turned to call out for someone, “Flutter! Are you finished with that side?” Flutter? There was another toon in here?! Shrimpo tilted his head a little and blinked rather dumbfoundedly as he saw Flutter peer her head out from behind a few shelves at the back, giving Brightney a small nod.

Shrimpo slumped down on the floor, watching as Brightney went back to sorting out all the books. A figure moved next to him as he looked up to see Flutter. The butterfly landed down next to him, her eyes noticing his stare as she gave him a small wave. Shrimpo huffed, crossing his arms and looking away with a small pout. “...?” Flutter seemed a bit confused at his sudden behavior, her antennae twitching a little before she shrugged, going to sit down on one of the bean bags as she waited for Brightney.

.

.

.

10 minutes felt like an eternity but eventually Brightney came back to where Shrimpo was, smiling softly “I'm back! Sorry if I kept you waiting, dear” Shrimpo only pouted harder as he reached his arms out for her again. This time, Brightney wasted no time in scooping him up again, not putting him down this time. Flutter stared at them for a moment, tilting her head in confusion.

“Oh! Uhm… sorry, Flutter, I totally almost forgot you were still here” Brightney chuckled nervously as she gestured to Shrimpo who was clinging onto her, “He’s probably a little cranky right now.” She said as Flutter seemed to perk up, nodding in understanding. “Would you still want to stay for a while? Of course, you don't have to but-” Flutter flapped her wings a little in affirmation. Brightney sighed in relief, carefully sitting down on a beanbag chair near Flutter’s, making sure not to jostle Shrimpo around too much.

.

.

.

“...?” Flutter gestured to Shrimpo, as if to ask why he was acting differently, “Oh, well… I'm not sure. Shrimpo's been like this for a while now. But recently he's been getting crankier. It's hard to manage sometimes” she chuckled, gently brushing her hand against his tail, earning a grumble from the crustacean.

Flutter's antennae lowered for a moment as she seemed to be thinking, “...!” Flutter perked up before she flew out of the library. “Oh- well, see you!” Brightney called out, a bit confused to see the butterfly leave so hurriedly.

“Looks like it'll just be the two of us again, huh?” She hummed, glancing down at Shrimpo who had his arms wrapped around her waist, nuzzling his head into where her abdomen would be. The little glanced up at her with a pout, causing Brightney to sigh. “Would you like me to read you a book, dear?” She asked, gently patting his head. The little shrimp shook his head as he went back to snuggling himself into her, hiding his head into her stomach.

“!!!” Flutter soon flew back into the library, this time carrying a bag as she safely landed next to Brightney, “You're back!” the lamp perked up, smiling as Flutter nodded her head happily. “Why did you leave so suddenly, if I may ask?” Brightney asked as Flutter sat down next to her, opening the bag and carefully dumping out the contents inside it. A sippy cup, a small stress ball, a pacifier came falling out onto the floor.

“Is this…” Brightney raised her brow as she stared at the items on the ground, Shrimpo stirring from the commotion as he glanced back to look at what was going on. Flutter nodded in affirmation. “But how? I- where did you get these?” Shrimpo stared for a moment as the items seem to have fully caught his attention now. Were these for him? Shrimpo narrowed his eyes a little as he continued to stare at the stuff the butterfly had brought in. “...!” Flutter's antennae twitched as she held the pacifier out, placing it into Brightney's hand. “Gigi's stash? I didn't think Gigi would have something like this lying around…” Brightney hummed before she took a good look at the soother. It seemed to be… in really good condition. Truth be told, Flutter was helping Gigi sort out her stash a while ago and she found these items. Gigi had a habit of just taking things without looking sometimes so that's why some of these baby items ended up in her hoard.

“I suppose this would have to do…” Brightney mumbled before she looked at Shrimpo, “Sweetie, could you open your mouth for me?” She cooed, gently stroking his head as Shrimpo huffed but obliged, opening his mouth for Brightney to put the pacifier in.

And the moment the pacifier was in his mouth, Shrimpo felt himself relax, suckling on the soother. It was embarrassing, but he had to admit, it felt nice to have something to chew on. Brightney chuckled in amusement, “Oh, well would you look at that!” She looked at Flutter who gave her a closed eyed smile as she looked at Shrimpo who seemed to be in complete bliss.

.

.

.

“Thank you, Flutter. I really appreciate your help today” Brightney said, waving at Flutter who nodded before she flew out of the library. The lamp toon sighed before she leaned back on the beanbag chair, staring at the little Shrimpo who was currently playing around with the stressball, squeezing it in his palm as the toy made rather loud squeaks. The things Flutter have brought for the crustacean wasn't much, but they proved to be rather effective. The little pacifier bobbing in Shrimpo's mouth as he continued to mess around with his new toy.

“Brightney, we want to return the book we borrowed from you las-” Razzle spoke as they walked in with Dazzle, pausing the moment they saw the scene ahead. “Ah! Razzle and Dazzle, hello!” Brightney smiled, getting up as she walked over. “Sorry, were we interrupting something?” Razzle asked rather awkwardly before handing the book to Brightney, who gladly took it. “Uhm… perhaps” She chuckled nervously.

“Well, in that case, we'll give you two some space…” Dazzle spoke up, “Great idea! See you, Brightneyokaybye!!!!!!” And with that, Razzle made them both rush out the door. Brightney sighed turning around to put the book back to where it belonged but stopped herself, “Ah-ah, what do you think you're doing, little mister?” She put her hands on her hips as Shrimpo had taken the pacifier out of his mouth, now holding the stressball up to his mouth. “Do you know where that has been? Don't put it in your mouth, Shrimpo…” she kindly scolded as Shrimpo huffed, putting the pacifier back into his mouth before frustratingly chucking the stressball away, watching it bounce and roll off.

Brightney sighed before she put the book away and went back to sit down where she was prior, watching Shrimpo climb back onto her lap. The crustacean whined before nuzzling his head back into her lap, his shoulders slumping a little before he pointed to the shelf behind Brightney that had children's books on it. “Hmm?” Brightney turned around, “Do you want me to read you another story, sweetie?” She asked, reaching over to grab a book as Shrimpo nodded, yawning a little, the pacifier remained in his mouth.

Brightney opened the storybook and began reading, while Shrimpo began dozing off to the sound of her voice.

.

.

.

Tisha walked into the library to find Brightney reading, a sleeping Shrimpo on her lap, pacifier in mouth and all. “Awwww…! Where did he get that?” Tisha cooed, pointing at the soother in the little's mouth as she couldn't help but find the scene in front of her the cutest thing she has seen all day. “Flutter brought it in from Gigi's stash”. Hearing that, Tisha felt her face scrunched up a little, “Is it even sanitary?” She asked, looking at Brightney with a slightly disgusted face. “I would hope so. At least Shrimpo's enjoying it” Brightney chuckled softly, looking at Shrimpo who let out a small sigh, still deep asleep.

Tisha is going to clean the hell out of that pacifier once Shrimpo was done using it.

Chapter 10: One brave little shrimp (Flyte + Flutter)

Summary:

After sneaking off into a run due to him think he was clear from regression, Shrimpo inconveniently regresses mid run after a small accident. Flyte is now tasked with babysitting duty, oh and Flutter's here too! :DD

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Shrimpo was currently banging his head against a machine, hearing the ichor dripping out from the pipe above. The crustacean had joined a run last minute today, no reason as to why he decided to participate, but he was bored. It's been a few days now, and he hasn't been feeling the need to regress. Initially, that prompted Shrimpo to think he was finally done and through with it, hopefully he could use this time to regain his dignity, or at least rebuild his ego the size of Twisted Dandy himself.

As he continued to headbang the machine like a TRUE PRO, Shrimpo heard a faint voice in the background, “SHRIMPO RUN!” The Shrimpo paused for a moment to turn his head towards the direction, only to be met with a group of twisteds running his way, Flyte behind them trying to regain their attention, but of course failing due to his lack of an air horn. Shrimpo's eyes widened as he immediately got of the machine and began running. But of course he wasn't getting far, considering he was starting to feel exhausted and he hasn't even been running for more than 10 seconds. He could hear Flyte’s panic as the older butterfly tried his best to advert the twisted versions of their friends away from Shrimpo still to no avail. And as Shrimpo felt himself began to slow down, panic started seeping into him too, adrenaline pumping as he tried to run but couldn't find himself able to anymore. One of the twisteds managed to graze his leg with its' claws, causing him to tumble forward. Shrimpo grunted, staring in helplessness as they all began gaining up on him. His leg kicking at the one that had injured him. And when he thought he was going to be dinner for these ichor covered FREAKS, the sound of an air horn rang out behind him, “...!!!” Flutter stood a few feet away, holding up an air horn as she blew it, sending out a blaring alarm. The group of twisteds brushed right past Shrimpo, rushing towards the source of the sound, that being Flutter as the butterfly sped off, leading them away.

Flyte managed to catch up to Shrimpo, “Are you okay, Shrimpo?! I'm so sorry I didn't see you there” the butterfly knelt down in front of Shrimpo, whose breaths remained heavy and ragged. Upon noticing the bleeding scratch marks on Shrimpo's leg, Flyte was expecting to hear Shrimpo yell at him, afterall he knew quite well that the latter was not all the friendly, but all he got was silence. Shrimpo seemed to be stunned, at least that's what Flyte thought. The crustacean breathing heavily as he kept glancing between Flyte and his leg. “Shrimpo?” Flyte spoke up with a concerned look on his face, “Are you okay?” Shrimpo felt his ears begin to ring, the adrenaline slowly wearing off, leaving him disoriented. And then the sharp pain in his leg kicked in. Flutter soon returned, having managed to hand the twisteds to Razzle and Dazzle, who both didn't mind distracting for a little while. Upon seeing Flutter come rushing in, Flyte blinked, “Sis! Wait, if you're here then who is- forget that for now, he's not responding…!” He panickingly gestured to Shrimpo who was still quiet, still looking dazed, like a deer in headlights. Flutter wasted no time, kneeling down next to Shrimpo as she gently shook Shrimpo, which seemed more like rocking than shaking, causing him to turn his head to look at her. And then came the waterworks.

.

.

.

“So…” Flyte began, looking at Shrimpo who was currently eating a chocolate bar, tears still streaming down his face as he nibbled on the sweet treat. Flutter was sitting with Shrimpo while Flyte did the machine, the younger butterfly gently comforted him with her wing, however that worked… But that seemed to be doing just fine as the little shrimp leaned against her, his leg was now bandaged as Flutter luckily had a medkit on her that she didn't mind giving it to Shrimpo. “He's uh… he's regressed?” Flyte asked, earning a nod from his sister as Flutter reached for Shrimpo's bag, hoping to find something, she did end up pulling out a stuffed shark. As his eyes landed on the toy, Shrimpo immediately reached his arms out, making grabby hands at the plush in Flutter's hands, whining rather childishly as Flutter handed it to him. Shrimpo clutched onto the shark plush under his arm, his hands still holding the chocolate as he continued to eat it, taking small bites.

“He's kind of cute when he's not screaming, huh?” Flyte hummed, hearing a machine ding before he let go, turning to look at Shrimpo and Flutter. Flutter nodded, looking at Shrimpo who had finished his little snack, some chocolate was stuck on his mouth. Comedically, the little guy seemed like a messy toddler after snack time. “You got something on your face there, bud” Flyte chuckled, reaching into his bag to pull out a handkerchief, kneeling down to clean off the melted remains on Shrimpo's mouth. The crustacean whined in annoyance, trying to squirm away, being reminded of whenever Tisha would constantly be fussing over him whenever he was regressed. “He reminds me a lot of you when you were younger, sis.” The older butterfly said, looking at his sister who huffed, a bit embarrassed but she knew he had a point. Flyte only chuckled again before getting up, “Well! We should head on back to the elevator, I'm sure the others have the last machine covered…” And as if right on cue, the faint sound of the elevator opening caught the trio's attention.

.

.

.

Shrimpo grumbled, standing next to Flutter in the elevator as he gently gripped onto her wing. The elevator was currently descending, Dandy had just closed his shop so everyone was waiting for the next floor to arrive. Today's run consisted of Flutter, Flyte, Shrimpo, RnD, Connie, and Vee. No one really noticed Shrimpo's change in behavior fortunately enough. So they all stood in silence as the next floor arrived. Upon stepping out, Flutter stopped Flyte before he could start distracting. “!!” “You want me to stay with him?” Flyte asked, glancing at Shrimpo who was quietly standing next to Flutter. The younger butterfly nodded as she gently nudged Shrimpo, gesturing to Flyte. The little crustacean let out a fussy whine but let go and went over to Flyte. And with that, Flutter gave Flyte another small nod and took off to gather all the twisteds.

Flyte was now stuck with babysitting duty. Not that it bothered him, it was still the same ol’ extracting ichor, but this time he just had a regressed Shrimpo clinging to him while he worked. As he watched the black liquid drip down from the pipe into the machine, Flyte sighed, Shrimpo had been rather well-behaved, just silently leaning against him while Flyte was busy with the machine, still clutching onto the shark plushie. As he finished the machine, he felt a small tug on his wing, “Hmm? Oh- yes? Do you need anything, Shrimpo?” He asked, glancing down at Shrimpo who rubbed his eye with his hand before reaching his arms out at Flyte. “Up…” the little grumbled, starting to feel too tired to stand straight. And with that, Flyte continued to go find the next machine, a sleepy Shrimpo now on his back. He couldn't help but feel rather nostalgic, being reminded of when he and Flutter were younger, he would carry her around on his back all the time… It felt weird doing it again with another toon, but he didn't mind.

.

.

.

“Uhm…” Vee blinked as she saw Flyte enter the elevator, Shrimpo clinging to his back as the little guy snored softly, hugging the stuffed shark plush close. “Do I even want to ask?” Connie looked rather confused, Flyte just shrugged, “Probably not…?” He watched as Flutter dashed into the elevator, the door closing as she entered. The way down again was a little more awkward this time, Shrimpo remained glued to Flyte's back. No one said anything about it, what was there to say? The silence was both comforting and awkward. New floor, same principle, Flutter flew off to distract, the others went to extract, and Flyte was on babysitting duty.

As he went to extract another machine, Flyte heard Shrimpo whine on his back, stirring a little before the crustacean opened his eyes, yawning. “Back with us, sleepyhead? You were napping for a while there” the butterfly chuckled, feeling Shrimpo nuzzling his head into his back, an arm wrapped around Flyte's back while the other clutching his stuffie. Machines were completely, floors brushed past like a blur. Flyte began to get used to having Shrimpo on his back.

The elevator was still silent as ever with little small talk here and there, but everyone was starting to get used to Shrimpo's regression, albeit still feeling awkward whenever the little would stare at them every now and then. The same principle was followed for every floors, Flutter, or on some occasions, Razzle, would distract, while the others went on to do machines. Flyte would be with Shrimpo, although Flutter would occasionally stop by to help extract if the little got too fussy and didn't let Flyte extract. Just your typical run…

.

.

.

A blackout, how joyous… Flyte sighed, readjusting Shrimpo on his back as the little made a small noise, burying his head into his back as Flyte began extracting a machine. Midway of extracting, Flyte heard a loud bark from afar. “Oh you have got to be kidding me…” he mumbled under his breath. Twisted Pebble in a blackout… could this floor get any worse? Flyte continued to work on the machine, hearing faint growling and barking as the twisted version of Pebble stomped around the floor, probably chasing Flutter. The older butterfly felt worried for his younger sister, hoping she won't get hurt by that beast. Meanwhile, Shrimpo grumbled, not liking the sound of Pebble aggressively stomping in the distance. “I know, bud… You don't like the stomping, huh?” Flyte asked, feeling the little crustacean nod his head. It was pretty understandable, the growling of that thing could put anyone into an uneasy feeling, not to mention it was a blackout and it was increasingly hard to make out your way in the dark…

Flyte continued trudging through the darkness, Shrimpo clutching onto him even tighter as he whimpered at every loud bark. “Shhh… only a few more machines, little one” the butterfly reassured, the crustacean nuzzling his head into his fur, whining in displeasure. “I know… We'll be back in the elevator in no time!” Flyte could only give him another word of reassurance as he headed towards another machine. Coincidentally, Connie was working on another machine close by, her ghostly light glowing faintly, but enough to illuminate her surroundings. “Connie! Good to see you here” Flyte sighed in relief as Connie turned her head around to nod, “Mhm.” she hummed before going back to extracting the ichor. Shrimpo stared at Connie for a moment, almost feeling safer just by seeing her glow. The little hummed, his cheek squishing against Flyte's back as he stared at Connie, who could feel his gaze but chose not to acknowledge it.

Just as Flyte finished his machine, he heard a voice call out, “FLYTE, SHRIMPO, RUN!!!!” It was Razzle, they were running towards them, having nowhere else to go, behind them was Pebble, mouth wide as it showed its' razor sharp teeth, ready to maul whatever got in its' way. Flyte took off, catching a glimpse of Connie going invisible as the butterfly brok into a sprint. Shrimpo cried out as he felt the sudden commotion, clinging onto Flyte, his stuffie slipping out of his hand whilst the butterfly was running. The little crustacean whined, trying to reach out for it. Pebble continued to pursue them, Flyte could hear its' growl, how loud its' stomps were, how close it was getting towards him and Shrimpo. Having the little guy on his back didn't really help much with his stealth, but Flyte was determined to get away.

.

.

.

“FLYTE! THE ELEVATOR!” someone called out, Flyte caught glimpse of the elevator opening. Despite his stamina rapidly declining, he continued to push himself forward. Pebble was getting closer, still barking and growling as the beast got ready to pounce at them. Everyone was at the elevator now. “Flutter, CATCH!” With all his might, the butterfly tossed Shrimpo towards the direction of the elevator with Flutter managing to break the little one's fall. “The elevator's closing! Hurry!” Vee called out as Flyte used his ability, managing to speed himself up just in time to slip into the elevator, the doors slamming shut on his way in.

Flyte felt himself fall forward, panting in exhaustion. “You okay?” Connie floated over, handing him a stamina candy as he gratefully took and ate, still breathing heavily. “Yea… t-thanks” he sighed, sitting up to look for Flutter and Shrimpo. His sister was covered in bandages, Shrimpo was clinging to her, teary eyed and about to start bawling. “That was a close one, but we're glad you're okay, Flyte!” Razzle spoke up, “We're sorry for leading Pebble to you… Razzle wasn't looking…” Dazzle said, their voice soft as they gave Flyte an apologetic look, Razzle followed in suite, giving a nervous chuckle. “It's alright…” Flyte returned a reassuring smile as he got up, walking to Flutter. “I think that wraps up today's run… we should head back up” he heard Vee say as he approached his sister.

“You okay, sis? Pebble manage to bite you?” Flyte asked, looking concerned to see Flutter in such a state. Her wings were a little roughed up, her arm wrapped bandages, so was one of her legs. Pebble seemed to have messed her up quite a bit. “...!” Flutter's antennae twitched, she gave him a reassuring nod. RnD had managed to save her in time before she was mauled and Vee gave her a medkit for her injuries so she was alright. “And you, Shrimpo? You okay, buddy?” The older butterfly shifted his gaze to the little crustacean who sniffled, looking up at him with a frown, his cheeks puffed out in a pout, he was upset for being thrown like a ragdoll, even though Flutter managed to catch him and he wasn't injured. That didn't stop Shrimpo from complaining about it. “Sorry for throwing you like that… But you were so brave back there, yea?” Flyte knelt down, patting his head. Shrimpo sighed, relaxing a little as he leaned into his touch, but then began to whine. Mr Jaws was gone now! “You dropped your stuffie? Oh…” Flyte frowned, sympathizing for the little, Shrimpo must've dropped it when he was running away from Pebble with him…

“Ahem-” Connie cleared her throat, hovering over to where the butterfly siblings were, holding something in her hand. “I think this might belong to a little someone” she said, holding out the plush shark, a bit torn and dirty but overall intact. Shrimpo perked up, snatching the toy out of Connie's hand and hugging it close to his chest. “Oh-… you're welcome I guess” she raised her brow as Flyte gave her a small, grateful nod, Connie returned by giving him an awkward nod and floating away. The elevator soon returned to silence, occasional small talk amongst a few toons but overly quiet, as they ascended back to the lobby.

.

.

.

As the elevator opened, they saw Tisha sweeping the floors not too far away. Shrimpo rushed out the elevator, “Tee!!” He whined, hugging her upon getting close enough in arms range. “Shrimpo! I- oh my goodness! What happened?!” She noticed the roughed up crustacean, along with his stuffie. Then her gaze shifted to the toons exiting the elevator. “You went on a run?! Oh, sweetie, that's so dangerous!” She lightly scolded, getting out her handkerchief to clean his face a little, Shrimpo whining in annoyance as she did so.

“Don’t worry, we were watching him…” Flyte walked up to them, chuckling softly. Tisha glanced up, noticing Flyte and Flutter, with Flutter looking roughed up. The cleaner sighed, “Thank you so much… We really ought to pay more attention to him… You can't keep sneaking into runs like that, Shrimpo.” She went back to fussing over Shrimpo who was not too pleased with being hovered over. “No worries! He was a brave little one today.” Flyte chuckled, giving Shrimpo's head one last pat before he lightly nudged Flutter, “Well, me and Flutter will be heading out now. See you around Tisha!”

And with that, the sibling duo left the lobby. “See you!” Tisha called out with a smile before returning her attention to the little crustacean, “Come on, Shrimpo… Let's get you and your little friend cleaned up…” she said, holding his hand as she led the little back to her room for a thorough clean up. Shrimpo groaned, but knowing he got himself into this situation…

Well, served him right for running off in the first place.

Notes:

More people are starting to know about Shrimpo's regression... They actually do not mind, if anything they might find themselves enjoying little Shrimpo more than big Shrimpo 🤑🤑🤑

Chapter Text

“C’mon, Shrimpy! You can't deny the veggies forever!” Finn groaned, currently trying to reason with Shrimpo. The latter had regressed for the majority of the day and it was Finn's turn today. The fishbowl was usually the laid-back and one of the more “fun” caregivers that would let Shrimpo do whatever he wanted, but maybe the crustacean was starting to change his mind now. It was snack time and little Shrimpo was not having it with the vegetables in his meal, picking out the greens like it was a full-time job. Usually, Finn would be fine with this, but he knew Sprout would not allow it if he keeps letting the little one off the hook all the time when it comes to leaving 70% of his meal untouched because there were foods he didn't like. Plus, big Shrimpo already had unhealthy eating habits… if he even eats at all, so little Shrimpo shouldn't either.

Shrimpo huffed, blowing raspberries Finn's way as he sat in his seat, arms crossed, pouting. “Oh come on! Let's kelp eachother out? You eat your veggies and keep me out of trout-ble with Sprout?” Finn chuckled to himself, gesturing to the baby carrots on his tray. Shrimpo proceeded to give the mini orange sticks the most disgusted look he could manage, it was like these carrots had personally offended the little, which considering his big hate towards vegetables regressed or not, might as well be true. Finn sighed, he has been going back and forth with Shrimpo for ages already… might as well give up and let the kid have his way.

“Hey Finn, Tisha told me to give you somethi- Woah, uhh…” Looey stood at the doorway, glancing between Finn and Shrimpo who had peanut butter and jam all over his face. “Looey! Heyyy!!” Finn hurriedly got up as he went over to where the balloon was. “Uh… I'm not interrupting anything, am I? You seem a bit busy” Looey chuckled, pointing out how messy Finn looked from trying to feed Shrimpo earlier. “Oh… oh! Uh yea! I'm good! You said Tisha asked you to give me… oh hey, so that's where he was!” “Hey, Shrimpo~! Guess who's out from the wash!” Finn held out Shrimpo's shark plush as the little perked up, reaching his arms out at it before something clattered to the ground… “hmph.” Shrimpo looked down at his sippy cup, which was now on the floor, apple juice everywhere on Finn's carpet. Finn sighed, “This is a total disaster…” he mumbled, too exhausted to crack anymore jokes. Looey blinked, staring at Finn before at the mess that Shrimpo had made.

Need any help?” "..."

.

.

.

“Thanks alot, Loo… I reely appreciate the help” Finn heaved out a sigh of relief, currently collapsed on his bed as Looey nodded, sitting on the ground with Shrimpo who was currently playing with the newly washed Mr. Jaws, his pacifier in his mouth as he quietly played around. “Don't mention it! Y'know, I actually never expected Shrimpo to be the little type.” Looey said, glancing down at the little crustacean. Seeing Shrimpo regressed, so peaceful and not actively trying to commit manslaughter against him, it felt… relieving? Weird? Both all at once? “Yea, well me neither. But Brightney said he'd been a lot clammer since he started actually regressing more!”

Finn chuckled, sitting up to look at Looey who also chuckled along. “Good one there.” He snorted before he felt someone tug at his tail, causing him to glance back around. Shrimpo had put Mr.Jaws aside, now shifting his attention to Looey’s tail. The little shrimp poked and prodded at it, giggling a little as he saw the thing bounce up everytime he pushed it down out of curiosity. “You having fun there?” Looey asked, chuckling as he saw how fascinated Shrimpo was with playing with his tail. The little ignored his question, his grubby hands reaching to grab his tail as he gave it a little squeeze, earning a small squeak from Looey, “Woah! Careful there, Shrimpy. I don't think you should be squeezing people's tails like that” Finn said, a bit worried that Shrimpo might pop Looey's tail if he lets his curiosity get the better of him.

Shrimpo stuck his tongue out at Finn before he continued messing around with Looey's tail. The fishbowl just let out a sigh as he shook his head, “I guess this is my fault for spoiling you, huh?” He was starting to understand why Tisha nagged at him all the time… Looey snorted, giving Finn a reassuring look, “It's okay, Finn! I really don't mind. Besides, I don't think Shrimpo's gonna be able to cause any harm when he's like a little bab-”

POP!

Both Finn and Looey turned their heads to look at Shrimpo who sat frozen next to Looey's tail… which was now gone, bits of the balloon's tail lie scattered on the floor. “... Well, I guess I was wrong.” “I'm so so so sorry, Looey!” “Finn- it's fine! This happens a lot anyway!” Looey was currently reassuring Finn as he was pumping another balloon to replace his missing tail. Shrimpo was currently sitting on Finn's bed, pouting as he clutched onto his shark plush chewing on one of its’ fins. “I-is there anything I can help you with?” Finn asked, still a bit frantic. God, he really need to be more firm with Shrimpo… even when regress, the little guy was a menace. Looey shook his head, nervously chuckling “It's okay, really! It's not big deal, Finn” He tied the balloon into a knot before trying to place it back on his behind, “Would you mind helping me attach it?” He asked, holding out the balloon as Finn readily agreed.

.

.

.

“Well, today was quite a day, huh?” Looey chuckled, looking at Finn who nodded, still having a guilty look on his face. “Yea… Again, so sorry about your tail, man… I really have to be more careful when watching Shrimpo” he sighed, glancing down at Shrimpo, who was now asleep on his bed, his head resting on Finn's lap. “Again, it's alright! Then again, I do think you guys should get more things for him to play with…” Finn raised a brow as he looked at Looey, “Oh?”

“Well…” Looey cleared his throat a little, “You guys should try finding him new toys or something… Is the plush the only thing he has?” He gestured to the crustacean’s stuffed shark which was currently being held captive in his little arms while Shrimpo snored soundly in his sleep. “Uhm… I think so? I mean, Shrimpo usually just sleeps when he's like this… At least with me and Brightney, I don't know about Tisha and Sprout.” Looey hummed in acknowledgement at that, “When he isn't?” “I don't know, I usually just let him do whatever, like he'd just sit in one spot and stare at a wall for ages” Finn shrugged, sounding unsure before Looey snapped his finger in realization, “Yep! That's the problem. You guys need to find him things to do! He's obviously understimulated”.

Finn raised his brow, how could he not have realized that?! (No srs. They used to play with kids, how tf did none of them think of this?) “oh… that makes sense…” “I think Dandy might have some toys somewhere in his shop! Or you can ask Gigi!” Looey suggested, “She has like… a hoard, doesn't she? Maybe she'll be willing to give away some things?” “I don't know, Looey… But I'll definitely ask her!” Finn nodded, watching as Looey smiled before getting up. “That's settled then! I'm gonna go now, it was nice talking, Finn! Tell Shrimpo I said hi when he's out of littlespace!” And with that, Looey saw himself out the door.

“Toys, huh?” Finn clicked his tongue, looking down at Shrimpo as he gently petted the little one's head, “looks like we'll need to give you more things to play with, huh? Sleepyhead” Shrimpo grumbled as if he heard Finn before settling down again.

Notes:

Hiii Y'all! It's been a lil while since my last update! I was taking my exams and also working on a few other projects!

This fix might not get updates daily like before, but I'll try to update it more often again!

And maybe, I'll be working on another DW agere fic with other toons as littles too and not just Shrimpo :3

“Babysitting duty? Shrimpo's a grown too-"

“oh right, I forgot you didn't know… uhm, how do I word it…”

“Little space?”

“Little space.”

Basically, Uncle Looey gets to babysit, things don't go as smoothly though. Lesson learnt, don't give too much candy to children, littles count too in this case.

Chapter Text

“Hey, Yatta! Sorry I'm late” Looey huffed, panting a little as he stood at the doorway, Shrimpo under his arm like a little football. “Hey Loo! Oh- what do you have there?” Yatta raised her brow, looking at Shrimpo who was obviously fussing from Looey's hold on him. The balloon took another moment to catch his breath as he carefully placed Shrimpo down, “Yea… uhh, no one's watching Shrimpo today, so I'm on babysitting duty” Yatta blinked, seeming confused

“Babysitting duty? Shrimpo's a grown too-"

“oh right, I forgot you didn't know… uhm, how do I word it…”

Little space?

Little space.

“Ooh, gotcha.” Yatta nodded in understanding as she stared at the little Shrimpo who struggles to stand up, standing next to Looey with a small pout, “Seems like he's not too happy to be here, huh?” she chuckled. Looey sighed, gently patting Shrimpo's head, “Well, he wanted to hang out with Brightney today, but she's having a bookclub meeting. Then we tried going to Tisha, she was in a run, and so was Finn and Astro. Then we asked Sprout, but he's nowhere to be seen, and then I remembered I had to meet up with you today… so we rushed here the moment we left the kitchen!” Looey explained, feeling the little crustacean poking his tail again, trying to nibble on it before he stopped him, “Okay! Let's not bite everything we see, buddy!”

Yatta snorted a little, staring at the two, this was rather amusing… She never thought she'd get to see the day where Looey and Shrimpo interacting in such a way. Looey sighed, taking a look inside Shrimpo's bag and took out his pacifier, gently shoving it into his mouth so the little menace wouldn't bite him again, didn't want his tail to end up like the last time he did… “There, you can chew on that, but not on me, okay?” Shrimpo whined in annoyance, but the pacifier would satiated his need to maul Looey… in a friendly and adorable childish way of course!

Yatta chuckled, “Well look at you! Papa Looey and little Shrimpo!” She teased, watching Looey roll his eyes a little, “Oh please, if anything I'd be his uncle…” he snorted, earning a huff from Shrimpo. “So, ready to practice again?” Yatta chuckled before she asked, eating a nod from Looey.

.

.

.

Truth be told, Yatta and Looey liked to practice circus tricks together sometimes, but this time they had Shrimpo. Thankfully, Yatta’s room had plenty toys for the little to mess around with, something to keep his little brain occupied so he wouldn't spend the whole time sleeping or staring off into a nearby wall. Currently, the little guy was playing with some of Looey's balls he would use for juggling, rolling them around or just throwing them against the wall and watch them bounce back to him. One might find this annoying, but Shrimpo was more than pleased, giggling everytime the ball came right back to him. It was a rather adorable sight.

“Y'know, he's rather cute when he's not plotting murder against you, Looey” Yatta chuckled, balancing herself on a rope with one arm as she was doing a handstand. Looey chuckled, sitting a bit off the side since he was taking a little break, “I know, right? It's actually really nice to see him enjoying himself without those aggressive threats to beat someone up”

Shrimpo soon got bored with playing around with all the toys, he toddled over to Looey, nudging him a little, “Loo-loo…” “Huh? What's up, bud?” Looey turned to look at him as Shrimpo grumbled. “Wan’ num-nums” he pouted, stomach rumbling. Shrimpo skipped lunch today, his daily nap stretched out longer than expected… Looey raised his brow, “Hungry? Alright… Uhhh” he glanced at Yatta, “You mind watching him a little while I get him something to eat?” He asked, earning a thumbs up from the piñata. “Sure thing! I'll keep an eye on lil Shrimpy” she bounced herself off the rope, doing a sick flip before landing right on her feet, arms stretched up for a moment before they fell back to her side.

As Looey rushed out the door to get Shrimpo a snack, Yatta trudged over, sitting down next to Shrimpo who was currently trying to chew on a random toy he found. “Hey, lil guy!” She chuckled, lightly poking his cheek as Shrimpo whipped around to try and bite her finger. “Eek! That's a close one!” Yatta yanked her hand away, “Didn't anyone tell you not to bite people, kiddo?” She chuckled, not really bothered by Shrimpo's antics. She knew he was pretty much harmless like this.

Shrimpo whined, his stomach rumbling again. “Geez, Looey's taking a long time…” Yatta said, leaning back a little as she saw Shrimpo fussing again, “Your uncle Loo is being such a slow poke, huh?” She clicked her tongue before she had an idea.

Shrimpo turned to find a box of chocolates next to him, Yatta smiling, “Here! How about we eat this while we wait, yea? Surely Looey wouldn't mind if you had one or two, right?” The little's eyes lit up. “Just don't tell ‘im auntie Yatta gave you this. Wouldn't want him to see me as a bad influence on ya!” The piñata chuckled.

.

.

.

“I'm bac- YATTA WHAT HAPPENED?!?” Looey almost dropped the tray of food after he saw the scene that unfolded. Yatta was currently tied up, her tails have managed to tangle themselves to her legs, her hands also getting caught in the process. “uhhh…. A little help?” Yatta chuckled nervously as Looey rushed over to untie her. “What happened? Where's Shrimpo?!” Looey asked, a bit panicked before he saw the box of chocolates, chocolate covered the floor, the whole box was left empty.

Then it clicked.

“Yatta, YOU GAVE SHRIMPO CANDY?!” “IT WAS JUST ONE!” “DIDN'T SEEM LIKE IT!” Looey ran around the room trying to find the little guy, “WHY DID YOU THINK GIVING CANDY TO A TODDLER WAS. A GOOD IDEA!” “In my defense! He was hungry and you were taking a long time!”

Looey held his head in his hands for a moment in disbelief, “Oh god, Tisha is going to KILL me…!!!” Yatta nervously went over to her distressed friend “Relax! I'm sure he's just… somewhere… maybe around Gardenvie- oh…” “YES, ‘oh…’ WE GOTTA FIND HIM, COME ON!” Looey lightly yanked Yatta by her arm as he dragged her out.

.

.

.

The two searched everywhere, splitting up to cover the whole floor. There was currently a hyperactive Shrimpo on the loose, they had to make sure everyone didn't see him, ESPECIALLY his caregivers. Oh, what would they THINK of Looey?! He was supposed to be the fun but responsible one!

“Shrimpo! Come out, buddy!” Looey called out, meeting back up with Yatta, “Found him?” He asked, still panicked. Yatta shook her head, “Not on the third floor, I checked.” Looey felt dread kicking in more as he lightly tugged at his ears in frustration, “Ouh… I'm so done for! He's not in the kitchen either!” He collapsed on the floor in exhaustion. “This is it… I'm officially the worst babysitter ever…!” “Wha- hey! Don't say that” Yatta crouched down to help him up with a guilty expression. “You're not a bad babysitter! If anything it's my fault for giving him candy” she said, apologetic look on her face

A small giggle was heard from behind them as Yatta and Looey turned to look at the sound of the noise. It was Shrimpo, standing in the middle of the hallway, a handful of candy cradled in his arms like they were his most prized possession. “Shrimpo!” Looey shot up and tried to rush over, only for the little one to rush past him, his speed unmatched for the balloon. “What the- HEY!” Looey quickly turned.

“Oh no, you don't!” Yatta tried to grab the little one, only for him to speed past her as well, his speed making her soon around in circles before landing behind on the ground, her head spinning “Ouh… maybe you do…” she sighed, dizzy as Looey rushed after Shrimpo. “Come on! Don't just stand there! We gotta get him!” he urged

And so the chase began

“How is he so fast?!” Looey ran like he was at an Olympic race. Shrimpo just kept getting faster and faster each time he and Yatta even got CLOSE to him. Yatta was trying her best, but her stamina ran out fast and she had to lag behind.

They chased Shrimpo circles and circles around the main lobby, surprised no one saw them yet… no one was in the main lobby today which was lucky…

But Shrimpo soon slid himself into the elevator, the door closing on Looey's face “Ah! Darn!” He yelped as he heard the elevator go up. “He got away…” he panted, feeling like his legs were noodles with how they trembled. Yatta caught up soon after, “Kid got away?” “I need a moment…” Looey sighed, still trying to catch his breath as he collapsed on his knees, breathing as the elevator door opened again, this time it was empty.

The two soon went up using the elevator, trying to find Shrimpo again… “At least we know he's not dead!” Yatta tried to lighten the mood only to be elbowed by Looey as they exited the elevator, splitting up to cover more ground. Nothing. No trace left of the little rascal. It's been, what? 20 minutes? 30? An hour? Two hours? Looey dreaded everytime he turned a corner and Shrimpo wasn't there. Tisha and everyone should be about to head back to get the little guy now… and Looey had lost him. What was he going to say? “Oh! I kinda… lost Shrimpo… but it's okay! He's still alive! Probably just really high in sugar and probably out and about somewhere eating dried paint and cobwebs!” Yea… that won't be a good look for him.

After another 30 minutes of searching, he met back up with Yatta, who looked just as exhausted. They gave eachother a look, well enough to know that “No, I didn't find him either”. The two collapsed by a nearby wall, completely exhausted and worn out from running around. “Welp- I guess we're screwed” Yatta sighed, laying face down on the floor as Looey hummed, a dreaded feeling in his gut as he leaned against the wall.

“You want one?” Yatta handed Looey a stamina candy, to which the later refused, shaking his head. “No, thanks… I just- I promise I'd keep an eye on him! And Brightney trusted me with Shrimpo! But now I've blown it!” He sighed, frustrated, more at himself. He knew better than to take his problems out on his friend. Afterall, Yatta only wanted to help him, even if her ways of helping are rather… strange and whimsical. Yatta frowned a little, looking to he side as she herself felt ashamed too. In a way, she did cause this to happen.

“Look, Loo, I'm sorry. I really should'v-” “Don't apologize… it was my fault for taking too long anyway” Looey cut her off. “I was just… trying to figure out what Shrimpo wanted to eat…” Truth be told, Looey spent 10 minutes deciding whether he should get Shrimpo his favorite foods or not. The balloon couldn't even decide on apple juice or orange juice. He didn't know what Shrimpo liked, he never got along with the guy enough to know anything. Seeing how easy it was for Brightney, Tisha, Sprout, and hell even Finn, Looey wanted to be like that too! He was the “fun uncle” maybe not like Finn, but he was supposed to be one of the fun ones! But now he has lost his chances. Shrimpo's still somewhere, and he was probably the worst caregiver ever…

“Looey. Look at me.” Yatta said, placing a hand on his shoulder, earning a sad look from Looey. “You did great, okay? I know what you're thinking… and no, you're not a bad caregiver. You're trying your best here! And that's what really matters, okay?” She said, her usual chaotic personality being replaced with something more genuine, more reassuring.

How could Looey forget? Yatta could see right through him. The girl always had a thing for reading people, or maybe it was just with Looey… They were pretty much best friends, Yatta knew everything about him, and he knew everything about her… And right now, Yatta definitely saw through his sulking and self doubt. “We might've lost the kid, sure… but, we can still find him! It's probably your first time caring for a little like Shrimpo! Mistakes are bound to happen anyway, right? So get your sulky bum up and let's finish this game of hide n' seek!” Yatta got up, holding out a hand for him as she gave him a reassuring smile. Looey blinked before he smiled, grabbing her hand as he stood up. “Right… we can always look again!” he said, regaining his confidence and energy once again. “That's the spirit! Now come on! We got a little shrimpy to catch!” Yatta chuckled, dragging Looey along. “Thanks a ton, Yatta…” Looey wanted to say, but he knew she would've heard him regardless if he said it or not.

.

.

.

Another thorough search throughout Gardenview, the two searched every room, splitting up on difference floors, still no trace of Shrimpo. They didn't want to head into the other toons’ rooms, obviously not wanting to risk getting caught or Shrimpo's secret being blown… but eventually the two met up again.

“Still no Shrimpo?” Yatta asked. Looey shook his head, “no… But I gotta give it to him. This is a very long game of hide n' seek…” he sighed, earning a chuckle from Yatta. “I mean, given his small height, he'll be MVP of all the rounds in hide n' seek…” she snorted, leaning on the wall to eat another stamina candy. "He could be hiding in a crawlspace somewhere and we still wouldn't be able to tell!" She joked, although the thought of Shrimpo hiding in a vent was rather concerning... Tisha would definitely lose her mind if she ever knew Shrimpo would hide in such filthy, dusty places... Looey shuddered at the mental image of Tisha lecturing him and Yatta for letting Shrimpo play in mud or something...

“Hey, Looey!” Looey turned to face the random voice at the end of the hallway. There stood Gigi and Connie. “Oh! Hi Gigi Connie” Yatta waved happily at them. Gigi nodded with her usual smile while Connie wave a lazy wave with her usual smirk. “Hey. Heard you two were looking for Shrimpo?” Looey tensed a bit at Gigi's question but nodded his head. “You seen him?” Yatta cut in before Looey could say anything. “Sure did. Come with us” the gachapon gestured for them as the two were on their feet in no time.

.

.

.

Looey didn't know what he was expecting, but it surely wasn't finding Shrimpo passed out in Gigi's hoard, chocolate smeared all over his face and hands while the little guy slept like a log, clutching a blanket he had found amongst Gigi's stuff. “He prolly ran into my room and hid in all of my stuff” Gigi said, oddly chill about all of this. The girl wasn't too territorial when it came to her hoard so that was a bonus… Looey huffed, still in disbelief before he reached down hoist Shrimpo up, slinging him over his shoulder a little as the little guy grumbled in his sleep, too tired to protest. “I don't know anything about littles, or kids, but maybe you guys shouldn't give him that much candy?” Connie said, resting her arms on Gigi's head as she raised her brow at Looey and Yatta, especially emphasizing on Yatta, who chuckled nervously as rubbed the back of her head.

“Right… again, so sorry if Shrimpo wrecked any of your things, Gigi…” Looey said apologetically, to which Gigi shook her head and waved off. “Nah- he didn't do anything. More or less just played around with some of the toys I have in here.” She said before she walked off to a random part of her stash and pulled out a box. “Speaking of toys, Finn asked the other day if I had any. I'm assuming now that it's for… him.” She gestured to the sleeping Shrimpo as she pushed the medium sized plastic toy box towards them. “Oh-! T-thank you, Gigi” Looey said, a bit surprised. Did Gigi rummage through her hoard to get this? For Shrimpo of all people? He was oddly impressed and grateful.

“No problem. There's some other stuff in there that I figured the little guy might need.” Gigi shrugged before Connie cut in “You two should probably go back now. Brightney’s probably done with her meeting.” the ghost said, floating up from the floor after she had done a quick check at the library. Looey perked up and nodded, “Right! Uh… thanks again guys. We'll see you around!” He nudged Yatta who quickly grabbed the plastic box and they were out the door.

“... Shrimpo's actually kinda cute when he's not being destructive, huh?” Gigi turned to Connie who hummed, floating over to lean on her again, “Tell me about it. Though I would've liked him without the grubby toddler hands next time.” “... Fair enough” Gigi said, turning to her hoard which was now unorganized again. “That took me and Flutter a while afternoon to reorganize…” she sighed, feigning a disappointed expression. Connie scoffed, rolling her eyes playfully, “Oh please, girl… your stash's gonna end up a pigsty anyway.” “right...” Gigi chuckled, shaking her head before they went back to doing whatever girl best friends do.

.

.

.

Brightney came back to find Looey and Yatta passed out on Yatta's floor, Shrimpo resting on top of Looey's chest he snored soundly, his chocolate smeared face was now wiped clean and his hands washed as the little one slept peacefully, the blanket he had taken from Gigi's room draped over him and the other two. The lamp’s expression softened as she noticed the empty chocolate box and candy wrappers not far away from where the three slept, already piecing things together. “Must've been a day you had, huh little one?” Brightney chuckled, kneeling down to lift Shrimpo up, holding him close as she covered the other two with the blanket instead.

“hughh…?” Looey stirred a little at the movement as he saw Brightney standing over him, he couldn't necessarily move with Yatta's leg resting on his leg and her arm on his chest, he didn't want to wake her. Brightney smiled, “Thank you for watching him today, Looey…” she said softly as Looey finally mustered up a nod before dozing off again, too tired from all the running he did today.

And with that, Brightney left with Shrimpo still asleep in her arms. She knew about what happened, Yatta and Looey weren't the quietest searchers, but she didn't mind. What matters is that the little one had fun…

And fun Shrimpo had. That was probably the most fun he had today… Maybe "uncle Looey" was the fun one afterall… just don't tell that to Finn

Chapter Text

Toodles skipped happily outside of her room, today was going to be the day! Rodger has to let her help him with his case this time, she's sure of it! The young toon smiled brighter as she headed straight for Rodger’s room, knocking politely three times as she waited for an answer. “Hello? Oh, Toodles.” Rodger opened the door, still in his pajamas (the alpha male is here 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥) Toodles smiled, excitedly bouncing up and down, “Rodger! You said I can help you with your case today!” Rodger's eye blinked before he sighed, “I did?” The man was still groggy as Toodles nodded, “mhm! So can I? Can I?” She was still as energetic and bouncy as ever… “You promised!” …

.

.

.

Well, things didn't go out as planned. Toodles made her way back to her room, looking absolutely dejected as she sighed, frowning. Rodger had sent her right back! She didn't understand, he promised she could help him! But everytime she asks, the detective would say that she can “next time”. That “next time” never came.

As she passed Sprout's room, Toodles paused as she saw Shrimpo sitting inside, idly kicking his legs on the main's bed as he too, looked rather dejected himself. Curiosity seemed to have gotten the better of her as the lucky one stopped by Sprout's door. “Shrimpo? What are you doing in Mr.Sprout’s room?” Shrimpo looked up at her before he made a face and turned around again, sulking. Shrimpo was acting weird again… Toodles remembered Sprout and Tisha talking about Shrimpo… something about him being little and discussing plans to look after him. Was this what they were talking about?

“Shrimpo? What's wrong?” Toodles practically invited herself into Sprout's room, surely he wouldn't mind, right? The main wasn't even inside his room! Shrimpo still had his back turned on her, the little sniffling a little. “‘prout take Mr.Jaws” Shrimpo whimpered, turning around to look at Toodles who raised her brow, “Sprout took Mr.Jaws? Who's that?” She tilted her head, earning another whine from the little crustacean, “Stuffie…!” “Oh…” Sprout had been on babysitting duty today, and he was trying to get Shrimpo to eat more veggies… which- ew. Disgusting. Anyway, Shrimpo ended up making a mess, knocking over his tray because he obviously didn't want to eat any of the disgusting greens his caregiver was trying to give him. Mr.Jaws ended up getting caught in the crossfire and now Sprout was going to put him in the wash, leaving Shrimpo in timeout. The little one was still salty…

Toodles hummed, before she thought of something, “Well, Sprout isn't here… Do you wanna go play with me instead? Timeout’s boring anyway!” Toodles knows she'll get in trouble but in her defense, she's only trying to cheer Shrimpo up! That's a good thing over a bad thing so no one can lecture her for that! Shrimpo perked up at the suggestion before he nodded eagerly.

And off they went, back to Toodles room.

.

.

.

The two ended up playing all sorts of games, hide n' seek, tag, you name it! Although Toodles did to keep it down, wouldn't want anyone to catch them, would she? Currently, they were on Toodles' floor, coloring with crayons. Shrimpo resisted the urge to bite one of the crayons, trying a few times… “Shrimpo! You're not supposed to bite them!” Toodles would stop him, giggling a little before guiding his hand back onto the paper, “Crayons go on paper! Not in your mouth, silly!” Shrimpo huffed before he would go back to coloring again, drawing random scribbles. They were both getting bored. Tag was too boring, and hide n' seek wouldn't be fun anymore since they hid in every spot possible now…

“I'm bored…” Toodles sighed, dropping her crayon and laying sprawled out on her floor with a huff. Shrimpo made a sound of affirmation as he was nibbling on the paper. It was silent for a moment before Toodles perked up, “Wait! We could play detectives!” She sat up, getting up on her feet and running to her closet. “‘tective?” Shrimpo tilted his head, seeing her come out in her detective outfit, hat and all. “Yeah! Rodger won't let me help him with his case because he doesn't want me to be alone, but now I have you!” She giggled, seeing Shrimpo disregarding the paper from his mouth, turning to look at her, seemingly interested now.

“We can solve the case ourselves!” “Go ‘venture?” “Yep! It's like an adventure but extra extra EXTRA cool!” Toodles looked through her closet as she got out a detective hat she had stolen from Rodger a while ago that the old detective was too lazy to get back. “Here, you'll be my assistant! We gotta give you a cool hat?” She placed the hat on Shrimpo's head, earning a giggle from him. “Now… let's go, assistant Shrimpo!” Toodles helped him up before they went out of Toodles' room.

The two snuck around Gardenview, making sure not to get caught by the other toons, this was more like a game of super spies than anything… but Toodles' mind wandered to the elevator, she's only been able to head down it once every now and then… and usually with older toons, especially with Rodger. She was never left unsupervised, but… since today she was with Shrimpo, she was sure they could handle it! Just the two of them.

Shrimpo followed Toodles, the hat almost covering his view but he didn't mind. He was happy to go on another adventure. His last one was really fun, he got to eat loads of candy, even got some new toys, too! Maybe this adventure would be extra fun! The elevator door remained open, almost inviting as the two snuck into it. Watching the elevator door closed as they caught a glimpse of another toon heading out to the lobby but didn't bother trying to figure out who it was.

“Detective Toodles and Shrimpo, on the case!” Toodles happily declared as they made their descent…

.

.

.

The first few floors weren't as difficult, Toodles made sure Shrimpo was always by her side as they did machines and ran around having fun. The twisteds didn't even see them, which was good… There were, however, a few scares here and there when one of those scary beasts would see them, mainly Shrimpo, but Toodles made sure to keep the little guy away from danger. In a way, she felt like his big sister, which was nice! She liked not being the little one for once. Shrimpo was obviously still regressed, or little, just following Toodles around as they played their game of detective…

The two managed to make it past floor 5, rather impressive considering Toodles was the only doing all the work, not wanting Shrimpo to do it since he obviously couldn't right now… Not that she minded, the lucky toon was more than eager to do all the work, she felt like a grownup. Although, Dandy did give them odd looks whenever he opened his shop, at first he was surprised to even see the two in the elevator. The flower tried to warn them, to tell them to head back up, but of course Toodles was stubborn and said she could handle it! So here they were. Dandy's shop had just closed, leaving them to head onto the next floor.

The large metal door opened as they stepped out, hearing the door slam behind them as they went off again. Same ol’ routine, do machine, gather research, don't get caught! Simple, right?

… Just one problem. Shrimpo was starting to get cranky now, he was tired, and hungry, and he missed his caregivers. “What's wrong Shrimpo?” Toodles asked, currently working on a machine. “Mmh… wan’ go up!” He whined, chewing on his thumb in irritation. He was getting bored of this game now… “What? But we haven't gotten enough research yet!” Toodles frowned, she wasn't done playing! Shrimpo huffed, stomping his feet, “No! Go up!” He demanded, pointing back where he thought the way to the elevator was. Toodles huffed as well, pausing to cross her arms, “But we're still playing! We can't go back now!”

The little crustacean stomped his feet again, “Up!” He whined, getting more and more frustrated. “No! We're gonna keep going! We have to!” Toodles wanted to keep playing! They were doing just fine a few floors earlier, why is Shrimpo getting so grumpy now?! The little shrimp made another noise of protest, “No! Wan' up now!” He sat down, crossing his arms. Toodles pouted right back, finally finishing her machine. “Come on! We have to keep going!” She urged, earning a firm head shake from the little as he remained planted right on the ground, “mmh-mmh. Up. Now.” He glared at her, his bottom lip sticking out in defiance. Toodles remained silent for a moment before she huffed, crossing her arms, “Fine! If you don't wanna play then I'll play by myself!” she said before marching away, leaving Shrimpo alone as the little crustacean stuck his tongue out at her, blowing raspberries before going right back to sulking.

.

.

.

“Alright Shrimpo, timeout's over.” Sprout froze, standing at his doorway. “Shrimpo?” He spoke, rushing in to look around, “Buddy, I know you're still mad at me but it's time to come out now!” He tried looking under the bed. First, he was annoyed, but the more and more he search, that quickly got replaced with dread…

“Shrimpo?” He checked his closet, his face dropping the moment he found nothing… no Shrimpo. “...shit.”

.

.

.

“What do you mean Shrimpo's missing?!” Tisha almost broke her duster at the news, Sprout's breathing was ragged as he had ran all the way to her room in a hurry. “Searched everywhere. He's not in his room, not in the kitchen… I thought he had gone to you!” Tisha dropped her duster, “No! Maybe he's in the library?!”

“Shrimpo? He hasn't gone here at all!” Brightney raised her brow, surprised to find both of Sprout and Tisha in such a rush. “He's not in my room, didn't go to Tisha, we checked the whole second floor, no signs of him anywhere!” Sprout blurted out, Tisha was currently panicking, “oh god, what if he's hurt?! What if he's-” “okay! Calm down, Tisha…” Brightney cut in, reassuring her, “Maybe he's with Finn? Or Looey? Let's all go look!” A nod from the other two

.

.

.

“What?! Shrimpo's missing?!!?” Looey almost choked on his pop as Sprout came running into his room. The balloon was up and running the moment Sprout said to look for the little guy. “!!!” Flutter dashed through the hallway, almost bumping into Looey. The two stared at eachother for a moment, “I get you're both looking for Shrimpo, too, huh?” Finn stood off to the side, staring at both toons as he stood at his doorway, Tisha right next to him. Looey and Flutter stared at eachother before at Finn...

“okay… let's retrace our steps. Sprout left Shrimpo in his room to go put his stuffie in the wash, he came back to find him missing. Any clues?” Brightney spoke, keeping calm as she stared at everyone. “He didn't go to my room, that's for sure.” Looey said, s bit nervous as Yatta nodded next to him, “Me neither. Haven't seen the little guy all day!” Finn said, glancing over to Astro who shook his head.

“Where else could he have gone? We basically ransacked the entirety of Gardenview!” Sprout was tugging on his leaves as Cosmo stood beside him, making sure he won't rip his hair out. “okay… everyone, I know this is very alarming, but we have to remain calm. Is there anywhere else he might be? Maybe hiding somewhere in someone else's room?” Looey and Yatta gave eachother a look, “Actually…”

.

.

.

“Shrimpo’s missing?” Connie raised a brow as Gigi stuck her head out from under her hoard, “Well he's not here.” The gachapon shrugged. Looey was nearly going to pop his own ears with how hard he was gripping them. Yatta frowned, “Alright… Just tell us if you guys see him! Let's keep looking, Loo” she dragged him away by his arm, leaving Connie and Gigi to stare in silence. The two girls stared at eachother, “Should we?” “already on it.” Connie said before phasing right into the wall.

.

.

.

“Woah! Tisha? What's the rush?” Tisha snapped her head back to find Scraps and Goob. “Uhhh!!!” “Have you guys happen to see Shrimpo anywhere?” Astro asked before Tisha could began rambling, the poor cleaner was on the verge of a panic attack. “Shrimpo? No… we haven't seen him” Scraps said before she spoke up again, “Have you two seen Toodles? We were going to ask her to go to Teagan's tea party with us.” Astro and Tisha gave eachother a look.

“Toodles’ missing too?!” Sprout was absolutely losing his mind, Cosmo right by his side, still making sure he doesn't end up bald from the tugging on his leaves. Teagan was standing next to him, hand on her hip and a nervous expression on her face. “Scraps and Goob were looking for her…” Flutter gave a nervous look before she watched Brightney and Finn return. “No trace of Shrimpo anywhere…” Finn said, his usual smile gone now, replaced with slight panic. Brightney still tried to remain collected as she noticed Teagan, and then Astro and Tisha whole returned with the craft siblings, who have managed to drag Rodger into this as well…

.

.

.

“Okay… so let's all conclude what we've found.” Rodger cleared his throat, remaining calm like Brightney was as he looked at everyone in the room, “Toodles and Shrimpo have both gone missing.” A nod from most of everyone. “Have any of you checked the elevators?” A long pause of silence. “S-surely that couldn't be-” “yo. I'm back” Connie floated into the library, Pebble next to her, “And I brought a little someone who might know who you're all looking for.” The little doggo barked, wagging his tail.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Toodles huffed, currently working on another machine. She hadn't seen Shrimpo yet. Maybe he was still throwing his tantrum back at the old spot. The more she stayed mad at him, the more she began to feel bad. She was supposed to be a grownup, maybe leaving Shrimpo was a bad idea? The machine dinged as Toodle began to go looking for Shrimpo. She needed to apologize…

“Shrimpo? Are you there?” Toodles peered her head through the doorway, staring at the spot where her little assistant was meant to be, “I'm really sorry for getting angry earlier. We don't have to play anymore, okay?” she froze, staring at the spot…

Only that Shrimpo was no longer there… in his place was the hat she had given him.

“Shrimpo? Shrimpo?!” She rushed over, picking up the hat as her hands trembled. “We don't have to play anymore! Please come out!” She began running around the spot, trying to find him.

This was bad…

.

.

.

“Okay, everyone ready?” Sprout asked, turning to look at the other seven who all nodded. Sprout, along with Goob, Astro, Connie, Rodger, Brightney, and Pebble were all ready to head down the elevator. “Stay safe you guys!” Looey said as the door began to close, making it's descent.

Chapter 14: Detective Too-too and Shrimpy, case cracked! Part 2 (???)

Summary:

The usual routine began, doing machines while also keeping an eye out for Toodles and Shrimpo. “Toodles!! Shrimpo!!” Brightney called out, walking around the area. “Found Toodles!” Connie's voice rang out, causing Brightney to perk up, ahead was the ghost toon, next to her an obvious distressed Toodles.

Or! They finally found Toodles and Shrimpo. That's it, not much to this chaper

Chapter Text

“Shrimpo!” Toodles called out, walking around the area. She had been searching all over for… long enough. The young toon was starting to get worried now. What if he was hurt? What if he got taken by those twisteds?! Oh god… this was all her fault! “Shrimpo! Where are you?” Toodles felt tears prickling at her eyes, guilt ate away at her. She should've never gotten angry and stormed off like that. Even better, she should've never played this game. “I don't like this game anymore… Shrimpo please come back…” Toodles hiccuped, rubbing her eyes with her sleeves as she continued to walk around helplessly, still in search of her detective assistant.

“Toodles!! Where are you?” “Shrimpo!!! Come out, buddy!” Goob and Sprout called out, traversing the floor. Everyone had been making stops every floor, looking around in hopes to find either Toodles or Shrimpo, better if it was both. “They must've gone down.” Connie said, currently working on a machine, Brightney close to her. Pebble had gone to distract the twisteds, leaving room for everyone to search… but still no signs of either of the two.

Sprout sighed, leaning against the wall of the elevator as he brushed his hand through his leaves, taking a deep breath. “Are you alright, Sprout?” Astro asked, placing a hand on his shoulder, to which he shook his head, “No. It's all my fault this happened?! I should've been paying more attention to Shrimpo!” He said, clearly in distress as more and more toons began to return to the elevator. Astro hummed, frowning a little. “It's not your fault, Sprout… you couldn't have predicted what happened.” “But I could've at least stopped it! But I just decided to leave him unsupervised. And now he's probably down there somewhere, scared and lost and in danger…!” Sprout felt like he could rip his leaves clean off his head. “No use in dwelling on the past Sprout” Rodger said, trying to keep his composure. “What? So are you saying you aren't worried for Toodles, huh? She's out there too!” Sprout snapped, he didn't mean to lash out, but all the stress was getting to him the longer they had to search.

“I am worried for her. But if we panic, then we'll only make things worse.” Rodger cleared his throat, looking at the door as it closed after Pebble had ran into the elevator. The old detective himself was worried. He knew he should've been less blunt with Toodles, maybe she wouldn't have snuck out like this… but, Rodger had to keep his cool, he was supposed to think strategically, one panicked move and it could mess up this search for the two. “The old man's right” Connie shrugged, leaning against the wall as well as she looked at Sprout and Rodger, “Freaking out isn't gonna fix things. So let's just keep looking.”

And just as she finished her sentence, the sound of Dandy's shop opened. As the familiar face of their beloved flowery friend came into view, Dandy gave his usual smile. “Ah! I would assume you are looking for the two young ones?” He chuckled, items on display, “though, perhaps you'd also have some tapes to spare? Help a pal out?” He gave a smug smirk, leaning on the counter. “Wait… you know where they are?” Sprout perked up, almost rushing over but Astro stopped him, shaking his head.

“Dandy, could you… perhaps take us directly to the floor where Toodles and Shrimpo could be?” Brightney asked, her tone polite as she too was keeping her calm. Dandy made a thinking gesture by tapping his chin with his finger, “Hmmm… I could, but that would go against the principle! I can't just let you guys skip floors now, can I?” “200 tapes.” Sprout said, his hands digging into his bag. “Come again?” An eyebrow raise from Dandy.

“We'll give you 200 tapes. Now take us to the floor you last saw them in.” He said, glaring right at the flower who looked dumbfounded at first. “Ah, switing to bribery now, aren't we?” He gave a small chuckle, “How desperate…” “300. Any amount. Just take us there.” Sprout approached Dandy, still gazing at him like a madman “...please.” he added, desperation coating his tone.

.

.

.

And down they went. Dandy was generous enough to take the 200 tapes offer, leaving Sprout completely empty-handed, not many tried to stop him, they knew too well how desperate he was. No use trying to prevent that… The large metal door opened as Pebble ran out, letting out a loud bark as he began gathering all the twisteds, leading them away.

They all gathered where Toodles was found, except for Pebble of course… The young toon sniffled, she looked like she had been bawling her eyes out. “Toodles.” Rodger said, not upset or mad, he sounded more concerned than anything. The girl threw herself at him, arms wrapping themselves around his waist, “Rodger! I'm sorry! I'm really really sorry!” She said through hiccuped and sobs. The detective frowned, wrapping an arm around her, “There there… it's alright… I'm just glad you're safe” he hushed her, hearing Toodles cry like this did feel like a punch to the gut, she's normally so happy, seeing her so upset was a rare sight…

After a small while, Toodles had calmed down as she was able to talk again, “Toodles, did you go down with Shrimpo?” Rodger asked, still hugging her as the young one refused to let go of him. Toodles sniffled, hesitant at first but she nodded her head, “I did… But now I can't find him!” She frowned, looking up at Rodger, “I'm sorry! I didn't mean to get angry at him, Rodger! I didn't mean to leave him alone!” She was about to start crying again when Brightney spoke up, “Hey hey, it's alright, Toodles! We aren't mad at you, okay?” She placed a hand on her head, reassuring her. “Where did you last see him, dear?” Toodles pointed to the spot where she had last saw Shrimpo at, the hat she had given him remained untouched, like it was evidence to the supposed crime scene. Brightney and Rodger gave eachother a look.

At least they found one… now they just had to find Shrimpo.

.

.

.

“Y'know, they really care about you, kiddo” Dandy hummed, leaning back as Shrimpo was currently sitting next to him, nibbling on a bar of chocolate that the flower had offered to him. The crustacean made a small grumble as he huffed, still sulky, his leg was bandaged up from a twisted almost getting him earlier. Luckily, Dandy had been keeping a close eye on him and Toodles, only managing to get to Shrimpo before the other since he was much much more vulnerable than Toodles was.

“I should probably take you back, huh, pal?” Dandy watched as Shrimpo continued to eat the chocolate, it satisfied his empty stomach… at least until Dandy could return him to the others. Shrimpo grumbled something again but didn't protest the idea. The little looked up at Dandy with a grumpy looking expression as Dandy looked back at him, tilting his head a little with curiosity. “You know, I don't usually get to see you so…” passive? Childish? Pathetic? Dandy couldn't find the right words to describe Shrimpo in this state, but he didn't need to, as the little one stuck his tongue out and blew raspberries at him. Typical…

“Oh, how mature…” Dandy deadpanned before he got up, “Come now, little one… it's time to return you back to your friends” he said, offering a hand to Shrimpo who crossed his arms, giving Dandy another look that could only be described as “Not unless you carry me there”

“Oh right… how could I forget. Uppies.”

.

.

.

They searched the entire floor and figured Shrimpo must've gone down… it was impossible, knowing that the elevator hadn't opened when Toodles was on the floor, but everyone had been looking for hours now… and going down was the only plausible solution.

As they all got in the elevator, Toodles seemingly calm now, albeit exhausted and was currently being held by Rodger who didn't complain having another toon on him. Dandy came back out with his shop once again, “Oh! Seems like you found Toodles!” He forced a smile, leaning on the counter, “Well, mind buying anything? I know you did give me a generous amount of tapes last time, but wouldn't hurt to buy something this time, right?” He chuckled… his greed sickens them.

The items weren't that good, a pop, extraction candy, and some chocolate. Connie grabbed a pop and paid up, but other than that, no one really bothered. “Not so lively, are we? Hmm… oh well!” Dandy got ready to close his shop, “May we meet again next time…” he smiled before the trapdoor shut.

The silence that followed was loud… the only noise being the slight buzzing of the florescent lights and the hums of the elevator. Upon the door opening, everyone was met with Shrimpo, laying right ahead, currently napping on the floor, a blanket with flower patterns on top of him as the little one snored soundly. And then before anyone responded, Sprout practically threw himself out of the elevator. “Shrimpo! Oh my days, you're okay!” He would pull the little one into the biggest hug if he could, but he knew not to suffocate the poor guy with affection so soon.

Shrimpo grumbled before blinking away, his eyes adjusting a little as he felt a little disoriented, he was just put to sleep so being woke up immediately wasn't a fun experience. His eyes soon landed on Sprout, Astro and Brightney who all looked relieved to see him. “Hello, little one” Brightney smiled, reaching to caress his cheek with her thumb, “You gave us a big scare there…” Shrimpo grumbled again, rubbing his eyes before reaching towards her. Brightney hugged him before lifting him onto her lap, holding him close, “Well… I guess he's tired from today…” she chuckled, “Mind holding him, Astro?” The moon nodded and took Shrimpo instead.

“Well, now that we found both of them… we should get ready to head back up” Rodger said, standing behind them as the three toons turned to look at him and nodded.

The floor went like a breeze, it was floor 7 when they saw Toodles, floor 8 when Shrimpo was finally found so the amount of machines were mild, getting back up even easier.

As the elevator door opened again, revealing the lobby, they were met with Tisha, Cosmo and Scraps. Tisha was pacing around like crazy while Cosmo was trying to calm her down. “You guys are back!” Scraps perked up at seeing them exit from the elevator. Upon seeing Shrimpo in Astro's arms, Tisha had to hold herself back from running towards them. “You found them!” Cosmo sighed in relief, “We sure did!” Goob smiled before giving Toodles a pat on the head as the young one smiled, currently standing next to Rodger.

“Well, next time let's not run into the elevator by ourselves, yea?” Scraps said, watching Goob approach her while Toodles looked at her with a bashful expression, “Scraps is right… next time you ought to ask me or someone else if you want to head down.” Rodger butted in, looking down at Toodles who sighed, rubbing her elbow with a sad expression, “I know… I'm sorry, Rodger.” She said, along Rodger soften his expression, “It's alright. And, I apologize to you, too Toodles.” That got her to perk up, looking at him, “I shouldn't have been so blunt with you. So, I apologize if my words might've come off as harsh” he saw a smile tug at the corners of her mouth, Toddles nodded “Apology accepted! Does that mean you'll let me help with your cases now?” She beamed, hoping that the guilt would finally let Rodger cave in.

“I'll reconsider.”

“Awh, shucks. Oh well… it was worth a shot” she said with a disappointed look but soon ran over to where Scraps and Goob were. The craft siblings soon left with Toodles, probably off to Teagan's room. As for Shrimpo, he had woken up from his nap. “Mmh… what happened?” He grumbled, seemingly home big again as he noticed he was in Astro's arms. “Oh, hello Shrimpo” the main smiled softly as the crustacean pushed himself out of his arms in slight panic.

Shrimpo landed on his face with an “oof”, but got up immediately. Astro didn't make any comment, “Well, that's one way to tell me you wanted to be put down.” He said as Shrimpo's face flushed with embarrassment. “Whatever. What happened. I feel like something shit happened while I was-” “You could've gotten yourself killed” Sprout said, sighing “because of me…” he frowned. “Geez, are you still upset over it?” Cosmo asked, lightly nudging his arm, to which Sprout let out a groan. “I should've paid more attention! And not leave Shrimpo unattended!”

“Whatever! I hate you. You tried to feed me carrots! I hate carrots” Shrimpo blurted out, it was half an attempt to lighten up the mood, half an attempt to keep his grudge against Sprout for trying to give him vegetables. The crustacean remembered vaguely being given carrots and he hated that. Sprout scoffed, crossing his arms, less upset now, “Well in my defense. You need to work on your eating habits!” “I DONT CARE. YOU SUCK!” Shrimpo said before storming off to his room.

“Well, that was eventful…” Brightney finally spoke up as Sprout sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance. “I swear to god… why do I even bother with him?” But in Sprout's mind, he was going to be much much more careful next time…

At least Shrimpo was back now, safe and sound…

Notes:

Guh... This chapter is rushed and very boring, I didn't really know what else to do for this sooo yea

But hey, maybe the next chapters will be better 👍

Dw, Shrimpo will get another chapter with Toodles soon where they don't get eachother in dangerous situations. 🤠🤠🤠

Notes:

Gimme some suggestions on who you want to be Shrimpo's cg in future chapters :3

Also so sorry if some of the characters might not be as accurate, this is personally how I see the characters themselves so yea! I will try to keep things close to canon though ^^
