As soon as Ashe makes the connection between Felix and the monastery cats, everything falls into place.
Their response to sudden loud sounds is to stab you with something sharp and pointy. You know when they’re done with socialising because they suddenly turn on their heels and walk off. They puff themselves up to look big when scared. They hide when they’re feeling bad.
When Ashe offers Felix a treat, he makes sure to do so casually, appearing uninterested in the outcome by not making eye contact and moving slowly and smoothly.
“Thanks,” Felix says, and sits down beside him.
