Summary
After the false king Joffrey Baratheon executes his father for treason, Lord James Bucky Barnes of Winterfell declares war on the South and gathers his northern bannermen to his side. But although Bucky's desire for revenge is strong, a budding romance with his childhood friend and constant companion, Steve Rogers, threatens to weaken his alliances and diminish the loyalty of the men fighting at his back.
Steve Rogers has always wanted to do what's right. Ever since he was twelve years old, he has wanted to join the Night's Watch and enter the brotherhood devoted to protecting civilization from the wild men and monsters of the Far North. But now, with the family he has come to call his own going to war in the South, he is left conflicted and unsure of his future.
Meanwhile, Natasha Romanov-Barnes, Bucky's younger half sister, attempts to get away from the men searching for her after her father's execution. Surviving on her own among strangers--including rapists, thieves, and murderers--means using her wits and exceptional skill with weapons to stay alive as she struggles to get back to her family.
