"I can't belive I'm actually going to play this loser game." Lumi said in a humorous way, walking over to Meeple's house, who was the host for today's session, and whom she didn't know yet.
"Hey it's not a loser game, just as weezer isn't a loser band!" draco remarked ironically, looking admiringly at Lumi.
They were close friends, but draco had a not-so-secret crush on her, which she didn't really catch up on.
"okay, that I agree, no fan if theirs is succesful in any way, but dnd just sounds so... like you either love it or hate it, but I guess it's worth a shot."
When they arrived at Meeple's place, they were in the bathroom, so Willow was the one to open the door.
"Hii, come on in, make yourself at home. Now that you two arrived, we're only missing Kenji. Oh and I'm Willow, you're Lumi, right?" she said with a smile on her face, shaking Lumi's hand, then directing them to the basement.
There was no specific reason to play there instead of the living room, but everyone claimed it 'gave it the vibe' so there was no arguing.
"Wow, this room really looks great" she said, while looking around the basement. It was decorated with multiple dnd-related stuff, such as dragon print outs and idk.
"I told you this game isn't lame." draco said, while elbowing her arm in a 'I told you so' way.
Willow laughed at their talk, and sat down next to Angelo, who was sitting-laying on the couch. Gray was already sat by the table, Chester was playing fnaf on his phone in the corner, full volume, meanwhile Meeple just started walking down the stairs.
Lumi was like the deer in the headlights. Okay, their hair was medium length, messy in an adorable way, greasy, in fact, but hidden under a purple bandana. They had acne and the virgin mustache, but there was something about their face that Lumi couldn't quite explain, but was attractive as hell. They were some chubby, that's a fact, but it didn't really bother her. They were wearing black baggy jeans, sleevless yellow hoodie and red fingerless gloves.
One might say they're below avarge looking, but drew Lumi's attention either way.
"Oh, you're already here, nice to meet you." they said, after walking up to Lumi, who was still standing next to the stairs, looking around, while draco was already talking to Chester.
Meeple was also lowkey in love with Lumi, but I'm not gonna waste words describing her, since she's cannonically a human.
"Fyi we're all pretty woke here, my pronouns are they/them, what about yours?" they asked in an almost nerd voice, but sincerely.
That moment the doorbell was heard, as Kenji had finally arrived.
"oh wait, I need to go open for Kenji" they said and went up the stairs.
They/them? not like Lumi was transphobic or anything, but she's never met a nonbinary person before, and todsy she was about to meet to. Also, what did it mean about her? Most of her life she was convinced to be a lesbian, in a glass closet, yes, but it still made her doubt herself.
When Meeple was once again going downstairs, now with Kenji, they signalized everyone to stop whatever tf they're doing and go sit at the table.
Everyone did, but once the two of them also sat by the table, Chester was still in the corner.
"just a minute, it's already 5 am" he said, and was drawed back to his phone.
Meeple was vissibly pissed, but took a few breaths not to crash.
Also "Chester x Meeple" no. and I will die on that hill.
When he joined a few seconds later, Meeple cleared their throat. "some of you might now already, but we have a new player, Lumi"
She was slightly embarassed as the main focus right now, but tried to keep calm.
"Hi, so, I'm Lumi, I play the drums, I'm she/her, and I dunno what else." she said, followed by nervous laughter.
Angelo was the second one to speak, but didn't mention their archery skills. "We don't know each other yet, I'm Angelo, I'm gay as fuck, I'm they/them." they said in a sassy maneer, same tone and all ad Willow was about to use, but her voice had the more confidence and nicely mean additude to it.
"We kinda met, I'm Willow, I'm a certified potion maker, and she/her."
The introductions made Lumi chuckle, but she still needed to aske her question.
"Nice to meet all of you, but, what does it work like? like the they/them? Were you like first a girl or what?"
The question was mainly directed at Meeple, but she also included Angelo when asking.
"wouldn't you like to know, weather boy? I'm not telling you my birth gender, and it's just... how i'm most comfortable? idk" was Angelo's partially passive-agressive response.
Meeple gave them a death stare for being, what looked to them like, rude to Lumi.
"I was a girl, but it didn't really feel like me, but I'm not really a boy either, and I have no idea what's the reason behind, if that's good enough of an answer."
"oh, good to know, thank you" she said, somewhat more aware of what Meeple is, thinking that they likely fall under her still being gay.
"I know they had no problem answering, but you shouldn't ask questions so blantly, in the future" draco told her quietly, almost like talking to a kid.
She felt annoyed and somewhat angry at his maneer.
"okay, you may be right, but don't babify me like that."
She hated that everyone she told about her recently getting diagnosed for autism sudennly started treating her like a child.
After playing some, they got into some loud arguments, insults and slurs flew, and some, altough not always serious, the noise made Lumi stress out and silently cry.
She had to go to the bathroom, which reminder was upstairs, to calm herself down, game was paused or whatever.
Not much time passed, but Meeple was concerned about her.
"I'm gonna go check on her" they said and went up to the bathroom.
Lumi was already calmed down, but needed like a few minutes alone, so she was sitting on the bathroom floor.
She then heard a knock on the door.
"you okay in there?" Meeple asked, concerned.
"yes, come on in" she said, happy that they were worried about her.
As she said they did, sitting next to her.
"Is everything okay?" they asked worrysome.
"Yes, I didn't mean to, I'm sorry for ruining the evening." she said with almost guilty tone. This was no big deal, but she couldn't help but almost cry.
"it's fine, we needed a break anyways, but we can restart any moment if you want" Meeple said and patted Lumi's shoulder.
Holy shit it was just a small gesture, but made her shiver, not quite sure if in a good or bad way.
She took their hand off her shoulder, and didn't miss the chance to touch their fingers, the only part of their hand not covered by the glove. The fingers were soft, sweaty, yes, but nonethenless soft.
Meeple was also shocked at that, as her hands were so delicate, and that was unexpected touch.
"Once again sorry for asking that earlier." she said, reffering to the gender question.
"It's really no problem, I don't mind answering questions like that, and Angelo... well they have a weird sense of humor. I'm sure they didn't mean to be rude with the weather boy part." Meeple said with a smile on their face.
Lumi's face immidiately brightened.
"I know, I know. You're awesome sauce, you know that?" she said and looked into Meeple's eyes. She could feel herself blush, and if her eyes weren't deciving her, so did Meeple.
"I, thank you. You're awesome sauce too." they said and placed their hands on their cheeks (face).
Lumi fidgeted some with her hands, before shyly asking "can I hug you?"
Meeple 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴ed out a little at that, but obviously wanted to hug her. "of course, sure"
The hug was very warm, as most romantic hugs are, but since Lumi wasn't native, she made a little slip-up.
"you're hot"
Meeple tried to hold back laughter, as they thought correcting her would be rude.
Not much later she realized what she just said and laughed nervously.
"That's not... I'm sorry, I meant like very warm, I'm sorry english isn't my first."
Meeple laughed back. "That makes us a super duo, then. I'm very warm, you're hot, we're perfect together."
Lumi's heart immidiatelly dropped, in a positive way. Was that Meeple's way of flirting? No way, right? but she had to make sure. She broke the hug and asked.
"Did you just say I'm hot?"
Meeple seemed lowkey panicked, but just cleared their throat and answered. "I mean, I wanted to be nice, I'm not saying you're not, but I wasnt trying to flirt, unless you wanted me to-"
"So is that a yes?" she asked curiously, not so secretly hoping this would be the answer.
Meeple was now more composed, confused by her question.
"do I think you're hot? yes. was it flirting? yes, no, idk, pick your favourite."
She laughed shyly. "then I pick yes, you're beautiful aswell."
Meeple was flustered, but also shyly laughed.
"does that mean you wanna... maybe..."
that was a Bold move, but didn't mean she didnt want to.
"be your girlfriend? is that what you're asking?"
"I mean, if you maybe want to... yes. that's what I'm asking." they said, suddenly gaining confidence mid-sentence.
"I would love to. So, pray tell me more about yourself, is it true that...?"
And their getting-to-know-eachother conversation went on for a couple-teen minutes, lying face-to-face on the floor, until they heard a knock on the door.
It was Chester, his voice almost emotionless, which was unusual for him.
"Hey, I'm here to check up on you two, you've been tone for a while, we're all concerned."
"It's fine, we were just talking, sorry." Lumi said, and then looked at Meeple, laughing warmheartedly.
"We should probably join them, huh?" they asked quietly.
Lumi pondered for a second. "you're probably right, but before we do-" and she stopped mid sentence, to place a gentle kiss on Meeple's lips (face).
They both started blushing uncontrolably, and Meeple kissed her back, longer than just before.
She started giggling, as she couldn't belive she really just kinda started dating Meeple and kissed them. twice.
"that was nice, now come on, we've already had one warning." she stood up and gave them her hand to help them stand up.
When they went out of the bathroom, Chester couldn't help but make the time-old joke.
"c'mon nipple, you can make out with your girlfriend after we finish The Game." But was completely unaware of the truth behind his words.
