Work Text:
Charlie was so giddy when her father told her about Alastor’s love for Rosie, something she had assumed but never gained confirmation of. Everyone deserved love, no matter what form it came in. Charlie was a little disappointed that it was her father telling her and not Alastor himself, but when he said why he was the one revealing this secret, she understood completely. Lucifer wanted to use the hotel as a date spot for the two. She was completely on board with the plan, not only because she knew there were not many great date spots in Hell, something she had learned firsthand when she and Vaggie had just started dating, but also because Alastor had done so much for her and the hotel. It was time she repaid the favor.
Charlie had quickly come up with an idea for what she wanted their date to be. They could have dinner and drinks on the balcony with soft, jazzy music playing in the background. However, she quickly realized that she wouldn’t be able to do this by herself. She would need help.
Charlie had gathered the residents of the hotel in the atrium for a meeting. She could only hope that they would be willing to help. She knew that some of them weren’t on the best terms with Alastor, namely Husk, Vaggie, and her father. However, seeing as her father was the one who came to her with this idea and Vaggie had once told her that she wanted to make Charlie’s dreams a reality, she’d wager that they would be willing to help. Husk, though, was a different story entirely.
Charlie walked into the center of the main room and clapped her hands together to draw the attention of those she had gathered. She scanned the room, looking at each of their faces before saying why she had brought them all here.
“My dad recently told me that our gracious host, Alastor, has a bit of a crush on Rosie. You all remember her, right? We went to her wedding together. Anyway, we’re going to use the hotel as a date spot for the two, but I can’t do it without your help. I have tasks for each of you based on what I think you’d be best at. It’d make me so happy if you could do them not just for me but for Alastor as well.”
All was quiet for a few moments as they absorbed the information she had just told them. Husk was the first to break the silence.
“Why should I help him? What has he ever done for me?”
Charlie closed her eyes and let out a soft sigh before opening them once more. She had expected pushback, but to get the hotel ready for Alastor and Rosie’s date, she would need to get them all on the same page.
“Now I know you don’t like him, and I can understand why, but the hotel wouldn’t have come this far without him. After everything he’s done for the hotel, I want to help repay him in any way I can. I’m sure you all can think of ways that he’s helped either you or the hotel over the past couple of years. Now is the time to give back,” Charlie began before turning her attention back to Husk. “Besides, my one and only job for you is to keep doing the same thing you always do, making drinks.”
“Okay, so what do you want the rest of us to do? Cause I have some ideas that are sure to spice up their date,” Angel questioned, a small smirk playing on his lips.
“I’m so glad you asked!” Charlie exclaimed, not catching onto the double entendre of Angel’s words. “Angel, I was thinking you could help me pick out an outfit for Alastor, something classy, which I’m sure won’t be a problem given what he usually wears, but… Also, I know how much you like cooking, so I was going to ask you to make dinner for them. Whatever you want to make is fine,” she responded with a smile, pleased that they were starting to get on board with her plan.
Charlie suddenly felt a gentle tug on her pant leg and when she looked down, she saw Niffty looking up at her, her eye wide and gleaming.
“What can I do?”
Charlie placed a hand on the shorter woman’s head and stepped back before answering.
“Just clean the hotel, same as you always do. That is more than enough help.”
“‘Kay!” Niffty said before running back over to where she had previously been sitting on the sofa and moving to sit down once more.
“Speaking of Niffty, Vaggie, would you mind watching her day of? I don’t want her to accidentally interrupt them.”
Vaggie’s only response was a sharp nod of her head in agreement. Charlie trusted Vaggie to keep an eye on Niffty and to step in, in case anything went wrong.
Finally, Charlie turned to Lucifer, having a particular job in mind for him. It suited him perfectly and was what she immediately thought of when she came up with the idea for Alastor and Rosie’s date.
“Lastly, Dad, if you could, I need you to make a playlist of some songs. You and Alastor seem to have similar tastes in music, so whatever you choose should be fine.”
“Alright, Char Char, I’ll get it to you as soon as I can. If you need me to do anything else, let me know. I was the one who came to you with this in the first place. I didn’t mean to put it all on you,” Lucier replied, his words making Charlie smile. She was grateful that he was willing to help despite not getting along great with Alastor. It gave her hope that someday they would get along better and maybe even become friends.
“No, I don’t mind. I want to do this,” Charlie reassured him before adding, “As for anything else you could do, just help people if they need it. If Vaggie needs help with Niffty or Angel needs help with the cooking, help them out where you can. That’d be more than enough help.”
After that, Charlie dismissed everyone to go do the jobs she had assigned them. While the date still wasn’t for a couple of days, there was still much they needed to do in the meantime. However, if everyone worked together, they would be able to make this a wonderful date for two people who had done so much for them. Alastor and Rosie deserved to be happy, and if they were able to find that in each other, Charlie would be glad to help where she could.
