Chapter 1: I’m all strung out, my heart is fried (Kesha, Your love is my drug)
Chapter Text
The Atlas ship was buzzing with energy, as people walked around the halls to work, or to just roam.
The castle-ship had never truly reached this sort of energy, even with some of the other coalition members and recovering aliens staying there. Even with how long voltron had stayed there, no one was able to fully explore every nook and cranny, except for Allain, of course.
One thing that had never changed was the never ending workload. If anything, it increased.
Keira was swamped from head to toe with paper work, unfortunately, being the leader of Voltron doesn’t only mean fighting, it means political work too.
Keira’s only saving grace was in the form of a tall, dark brown haired girl with a slightly grown out pixie cut. Thank whatever deity in the galaxy for making Lana her right hand man (girl).
“Hi Keira! Sorry I was a bit late, I was finishing up the shooting range training with the pilots and some coalition members.” Lana greeted, as she pulled a chair next to Keira in the meeting room on the Atlas. There was a meeting in roughly half a varga, and the two girls needed to gather the notes from the last Galra colonized planet mission.
“Oh, hey, Lana,” Keira smiled, “Don’t worry about it, there's not too much left, just stuff about the speech we had to make and how we distributed resources.”
Quickly grabbing her own stack of paperwork and note cards, Lana swiftly went to work alongside Keira. With 5 dobashes left, they had finished and planned out how the meeting would go.
“Phew, I thought we would never be able to finish that,” Lana sighed, shaking her sore hand.
Looking towards her, Keira softly laughed, “Me neither, I still can’t believe that they make us do this much paper work for just one planet. Surely they don’t need this much to be done.”
“Hey, at least we got each other in this battle” Lana grinned towards Keira.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Keira’s chest swelled with a softness she would’ve liked to say that she’s never felt, but throughout the years, it’s become a more common occurrence.
“ALL VOLTRON, MFE PILOTS, HIGH RANKING ATLAS OFFICIALS AND COALITION MEMBERS PLEASE REPORT TO THE CENTER MEETING ROOM.” The announcement blared throughout the ship.
Slowly, more and more people streamed into the medium sized room. Hukaiya was quick to snatch a seat in between Lana and Pidge, while Allain politely stepped into his seat next to Keira.
(The seating goes like this, if u want help with how I made it to envision it,
Allain Keira Lana Hukaiya Pidge )
Shira sat opposite of Allain at the table as other such atlas and garrison officials took their seats at the table, leaving space for some of the high-ranking coalition members. The MFE pilots and other members of the coalition stood orderly around the edges of the room, observing the discussion that was going to take place.
“Thank you all for gathering here today,” Keira started, her “Leader voice” having greatly improved from how it was when she first started.
“I would first like to thank all of those who are both present, and not for assisting Voltron with this mission, we couldn’t have been able to do it without you.”
Keira began the meeting going over the gains, losses, and other general information. After she was done with the overview, Lana stepped up and started presenting what information they had gained and how the interactions with the civilians went.
But before she could properly begin, a scoff could be heard from the side of the room, “Are we sure we should let a cargo pilot be in charge of this stuff, she probably isn’t even qualified to be talking about this crap.” Jennifer Griffin rudely announced.
Hearing the words, Keira was about to snap. Lana was more than qualified in her mind, she had done countless missions and diplomatic meetings than Jen has probably heard of in her life. Seething with anger, Keira was about to talk back before she heard the clear, confident voice of Lana spread throughout the room like waves in the eye of a storm.
“I’m sorry to hear that a low level fighter pilot that is meant to be here to observe thinks that I, the red paladin of Voltron, with years of experience and more knowledge than what you could possibly comprehend, am not qualified to speak about this. I am especially concerned with how you think the livelihoods and health of the people of this planet is “crap”. Please enlighten me with how you can contribute more impactful points here.” Lana’s voice was sharp, clear. Not a single stutter or mistake was made.
Suddenly losing her past confidence, Jen started muttering under her breath, “I, um,”
“Speak up, we don’t have all day.”
“Damn, okay fine, sorry.”
“Thanks, Janet.” Lana replied, her smile strained.
Ignoring the perturbed face from Jen, Lana continued speaking. Keira watched the interaction, practically drooling at how attractive Lana had seemed with her confidence. It had all, entirely, increased her attraction to her tenfold. Keira loved the Lana who doubted herself, always providing reassurance when needed, but she was absolutely not complaining about the Lana who knew her worth, and spoke up for herself when it was really needed.
From the corner of her eye, she spotted Shira giving her a smug smile. Before Keira could pretend to be confused Allain tapped her arm gently.
Facing Allain, before she could ask what he wanted, he whispered in her ear,
“I know what you are.”
She looked back at him with an incredulous face as he just smiled innocently at her.
It didn’t help either how she heard Hukaiya and Pidge snickering on the opposite side.
Later that day, after the meeting, everyone had split up, Keira ended up in her personal bathroom. (I’m making it so that all of the members of Voltron have bigger rooms and personal bathrooms, with one shared lounge room that connects all of them together.)
Splashing water in her face she looked up to her mirror,
“Fuck my gay ass life” Keira groaned.
Keira is absolutely, indubitably, down bad for the most sought after, smart, beautiful, brave, talented, amazing girl ever. When they were still young and new to space, Keira was able to deal with her (not so hidden) crush, even during the balls and banquets where all she would do is stand in a corner and watch Lana flow throughout the crowd, more than once get flirted with and even some cases, courted. Keira was able to suppress her feelings then, so why can’t she do it now?
Hearing someone knocking at her door, she quickly finishes cleaning up, putting on a tank top with some fairly comfortable loose pants.
She opened the door to be greeted by Lana,
“Hi Keira!” Keira spots her looking her up and down before remembering why she was there in the first place.
“I’m trying to host a karaoke game night later in the lounge! Would you like to join when I’m done getting it ready?”
“Sure, sounds like fun, who’s coming?” Kiera replied, trying to seem as nonchalant as possible.
“Weell I’m of course going to get all of us, referring to Voltron of course, to come, then Axcan, Zethridier, and Ezo. Maybe Victor, if he apologizes to me about eating my leftovers earlier, then the MFE pilots.”
Chuckling softly, Keira responded, “I thought you would be more mad at Janet and not invite her?”
“Geez Keira,” Lana giggled, “I’m not that mean, though I want her to learn her place in situations like that. It was totally embarrassing having to take up so much important time to just scold her earlier today.”
“It’s fine, most people were entertained by it, if not annoyed at her. Plus, I thought it was pretty cool.”
That made Lana stop for a moment, her ears turning red,
“Oh, um, thanks. I MEAN, thanks for saying that was cool cause, yknow, you’re so cool and ..” She started trailing off before looking back at Keira straight in her eyes.
“OKAY SO I’ll see you then..?”
“Yes, like I already said, it would be fun. Plus, I am in desperate need to unwind," laughed Keira.
“COOL, awesome, great, okay bye!” And with that Lana dashed off to the next room.
Stepping back to let the automatic door close, Keira collapsed on her bed, shouting into her pillow,
“FUCK MY GAY ASS LIFE!!!” She really hopes these rooms are somewhat sound proof.
Chapter 2: I want someone badly (Jeff Buckley, I want someone badly)
Summary:
"“Hiii Victor, do you apologize?” She said almost immediately,
“No, you took my moisturizer last week, and you should be lucky I have extra.” Victor counters, before looking between the two girls presseed next to each other, despite the space on the couch.
“That’s interesting,” He smirks, making Lana’s face turn red,
“wWHat do you mean! I’m just sitting here, with my bestie Keira!” Lana squeaked out."

Chapter Text
Keira laid on her bed until she heard the faint chatter of other people arriving into the lounge outside, before looking at herself in the mirror to make sure she looks fine.
She never cared too much about how she looked, but you can’t judge a girl for wanting to look good for her crush! Though, Lana never seemed to care too much about that sort of thing.
Stepping out of her room to enter the lounge she spotted Lana kneeling next to Pidge as they were setting up the T.V..
Before she could properly take in the scene she heard the sweet voice of Hukaiya being directed at her,
“Keira! Come on! I saved you a seat next to me!”
Ever so grateful for being thought of, Keira sat next to Hukaiya, listening to her and Allain’s conversation.
“I just don’t understand how one can be underwater, AND sing?” Allain inquires.
Insisting, Huk replied, “Well it depends on the tech..”
Keira felt her attention drift from the two people next to her to Lana. Her back is facing her and she’s saying something to Pidge that Keira can’t quite pick up from her seat, but she can still see the smile on her face. She’s wearing a blue pajama set that she picked up from earth, merch from that weird cartoon that was made of them. The pants had a blue lion pattern and the shirt was a soft long sleeve with a small Voltron logo on the left of her chest. Along with the outfit, she’s also wearing the blue lion slippers that she’s had since the castle. Keira stifles a small laugh after imagining a 19 year old Lana grab her necessary items and go straight for her slippers when the castle had to be sacrificed.
Her focus breaks when Lana stood up abruptly and plopped next to Keira on the fairly large sofa.
“I’m so glad you could make it here, Red,” Lana sighed, dropping her head onto Keira’s shoulder, “I don’t think anyone else is going to come.”
Keira was a little shocked by the unexpected contact, but quickly recovered when she saw Lana’s solemn expression.
“What? Don’t worry, I’m sure that they are coming,” Keira quickly assures while sending a quick message to Axcan to come soon and to gather those who haven’t arrived yet.
As soon as the message was sent, the former generals of Lotor, and the MFE pilots arrived.
Keira spots Victor and Axcan speaking together and staying close to each other, that's good, she thought. Keira has had to spend some sleepless nights on the Atlas with Axcan speaking about his undying crush on the human boy, and not knowing how to deal with it. Unfortunately, Keira isn’t too much help in that category either.
She saw next to her, Romeo surprising Allain by popping up behind her. Startled, Allain started laughing at the silly face Romeo was making at him. Giving him a forehead kiss, he came around to sit between Allain and Huk, the two bringing him into their conversation almost immediately.
Keira suddenly felt more aware of the heat next to her coming from Lana, who was still leaning against her, waving over her brother and the others who had arrived.
“Hiii Victor, do you apologize?” She said almost immediately,
“No, you took my moisturizer last week, and you should be lucky I have extra.” Victor counters, before looking between the two girls presseed next to each other, despite the space on the couch.
“That’s interesting,” He smirks, making Lana’s face turn red,
“wWHat do you mean! I’m just sitting here, with my bestie Keira!” Lana squeaked out.
Keira’s heart suddenly felt a sharp sting from being apparently friend zoned, but, it’s okay, she can deal with this sort of pain.
As everyone started to get settled and Pidge finished setting up the television Lana stood up, about to explain the activities for that night. Keira mourned the loss of warmth, wishing Lana had decided to stay next to her the whole night.
“Thank you guys for coming here!” she smiled at the group of people in front of her, “So basically it’s karaoke dares, so every time it’s your turn to sing, someone has to give you a ‘dare’ or a challenge to do during your song! Or they can just choose your song. I also have a ton of board games we can play!”
Small claps and joking cheers were made across the room, while Lana turned a bit sheepish, and sat back down next to Keira.
Soon, the karaoke night began, and the group of young adults were all having fun taking turns with who gets to sing and make dares. Jen had to sing Barbie girl while wearing pigtails, Victor had to sing Let down (Radio head) with his Mickey voice, and Lana just dared Huk to sing Wanna Be (Spice girls) with her in a duet.
When it came to Lana’s turn to be dared, Pidge exclaims “Sing a song of your choice, upside down.”
They clicked a button, bringing down a hanging gymnastic bar coming from the ceiling.
“When in the world did you have time for that?” Questioned Lana.
“I have my ways,” Pidge chirps.
Judging, Jen muttered “How are you even going to g-” before getting cut off with Lana using her trained acrobatic skills to lightly jump onto the T.V. , leap towards the wall before pushing off and is now hanging upside down on it.
“Put on Whenever Wherever by Shakira, fast!” Lana grinned.
Keira felt her gaze shift to Lana’s shirt, or more specifically, where the shirt was slipping down. Seeing the small part of her stomach with war worn muscles suddenly made Keira flush red.
She felt the gaze of Huk and Allain on the side of her face, but she was too scared to look back to see their expressions.
Her feelings were getting harder to hide everyday, especially with how close Lana had been being with her. She yearned for the time when she didn’t always feel like this, but she doesn’t think she can. For as long as she can remember, she had always loved Lana, she loved when she was mad, sad, weak and strong, no matter what. From the moment they met, Keira had loved her, and she hasn’t stopped.
When Lana was done, she attempted to get down from the bar, but slipped and started to fall, but she never reached the ground. Scared, Lana opened her eyes, and saw the face of Keira, who was currently holding her in a bridal carry.
“Are.. you okay?” Keira gently asks, searching Lana’s face for any sign of pain.
Suddenly turning red, Lana mumbles “Oh um, yeah I’m good, I’m GREAT even,” Slipping out of Keira’s arms, feeling a bit nervous with the fairly large group of people looking at them right then.
As they both sat back on the couch Huk quickly gives Lana a check to see if she’s hurt,
“Lana! Are you okay?? That scared me so much!”
“No no,” Lana reassures, “I’m fine, thanks to my knight in shining armour,” She teases, looking at Keira, whose face is holding back a swarm of blush threatening to take over.
A few moments later, Lana whispers in Keira’s ear, “Thanks, you don’t know how glad I am to be here with you.”
Keira’s ears turn red and her mind is filled with thoughts and questions ‘Here with ME? Like Lana McClain enjoys being here with ME, Keira Kogane? She enjoys being with ME?? HERE??’
Later in the night, when the singing and games died down, Keira’s eyes started to feel tired but when she looked to her side, she saw Lana’s eyes already on her. Lana was clearly tired, basically three seconds from passing out, but her blue eyes were trained on Kiera’s face.
“You look so cute,” Lana breathes out.
Before Keira could even realize what she had just said Lana closed her eyes and pressed in closer to her side. The blush that Keira had been fighting vigorously all night had won and filled her face instantly. Seeing the time on the space clock, and the sleeping state of some of their other friends, she gently stood up, and looped her arms underneath Lana’s limp body. Lifting her up carefully, she carries Lana to her room, decorated with a drawing her niece made for her saying “La Astronauta Lana!”
Opening the door, she placed Lana into her bed, tucking her in. Watching her sleeping face, Keira smiled softly, never thinking they would’ve gotten this close.
Leaving the room she hears a soft mutter coming from Lana,
“G’night samurai,”
Huffing a laugh, Keira responds “Good night, sharpshooter.”
Stepping into her own room, Keira collapses, once again, onto her bed. She feels giddy with love, kicking her legs in the air like as if she was a teenage girl again, and not a 22 year old soldier.
She laid in her bed, dreaming of sweet smiles and a war-less future.

I miigght make next chapter more in Lana's POV since these past two have been more in Keira's POV! Can you tell that Lana/Lance is my favorite character by how I write Keira? lmao

Chapter Text
Lana woke up slowly, eyes blinking in an attempt to make sense of where she was. She sat up, realizing that she was in her room, and not the lounge where she had fallen asleep. Recalling her memories of the night before, she remembers her last words to Keira before knocking out.
Lana’s face heats up when she realizes that she might’ve let her feelings slip to Keira.
Slapping the digital clock next to her she sees that there is roughly a varga until it’s time for breakfast. Standing up she gets herself ready, brushing her teeth and getting dressed in her blue garrison uniform.
Stepping out of her room, she sees that no one else appears to have stayed asleep in the lounge, which was good sense they were landing on a planet for a festival later.
When Lana arrived at the cafeteria, she found that she was one of the last people to arrive for breakfast. She let her eyes wander throughout the crowded tables until she saw the distinct colors of yellow, green, pink, and red sitting together in one of the center-most tables.
When walking up to her friends, the first thing she noticed was how Keira had her hair tied half up, letting her bangs fall to frame her face. ‘That’s so cute’ she smiled looking at how Keira was conversing with their other friends. Lana loved the way Keira had grown as a person, the once “lone wolf” now a social animal.
“Hey guys! Hi red!” Lana greeted her friends, taking the seat next to Keira.
Huk’s face became relieved at the sight of Lana, “OH MY GOD Lana!! Do you know what Keira just called shaved ice??”
Before Lana could respond, Keira quickly cut in, “I just said that they’re basically the same as biting a popsicle.”
Lana’s previously curious face shifted to one of dramatic shock,
“Keira.”
“What? It makes sense right?”
“Keira, no.”
Shaking her head, Huk sighed, “This is what happens when you let kids live in a desert shack alone with Paramore as their only available music.”
“What!? I didn’t listen to only Paramore. I also listened to Skillet and Radio head!” Keira retorted.
“Keira,” Lana chastised, “That is so much worse.”
Keira hung her head in defeat, as the two childhood friends debated more on what shaved ice flavor was objectively the best.
Lana felt her stomach grumble, before she could get up Keira grabbed her arm,
“Wait, I’ll get your food. Stay here.”
And with that, Keira stood up and left before Lana could say anything.
Feeling her ears burn, Lana turned to look at Huk as Keira went to the food line.
“Sooo..” Hukaiya started, “I see that your crush hasn’t gotten any better since we last talked,” Grinned Huk.
“Oh well, yknow, we’ve been getting closer..” Lana mumbled.
“Mhm, closer is certainly one way to put it,”
Before Lana could defend herself, she heard the familiar voice of the reason for her anguish.
“Hey guys, I’m back,” Keira sat back down with Lana, and handed her the tray of food,
“I got you the cinnamon rolls ‘cause you said you liked them last time, and some of the scrambled eggs with tabasco.”
“Whoa! Thank you so much Keira!” Lana thanked, “I didn’t know that you even remembered that!”
“Of course I remembered,” Keira said, suddenly looking at Lana with an intense gaze.
The eye contact lasted a few seconds before being interrupted by Pidge's voice ringing out from their seat next to Huk,
“I would hate to mess up the staring contest going on right now, but do either of you guys know what’s going on in the festival we’re attending today?”
Lana watched Keira’s cheeks turn pink before she coughed a bit,
“I’m not that sure, but-”
“We have to dress semi-formally, and for the citizens of Glorshia we have to each perform some sort of show or act to entertain them enough so that the Empress agrees to join the coalition.” Lana tactfully interrupted.
“Yeah..” Keira said, not quite understanding what Lana had just spewed out, “Whatever Lana just said.”
“Whaaat, I hate these sorts of things. They never end up understanding what I’m saying most of the time,” Complained Pidge.
“Don’t worry Pidgeon, I already made sure that the people of Glorshia enjoy tech! In fact, I’m sure your audience will be made up of the smartest scholars there.” Lana reassured.
“Thanks, Lana,” Pidge beams.
Smiling in response, Lana suddenly feels the burning eyes of Keira on the side of her head. When she turns her head to look at Keira, she sees that she had already averted her gaze back onto her scarce breakfast tray.
With almost two vargas left until the Atlas is set to land on Glorshia, the Voltron crew are getting ready for the festival.
Lana searches through her unfortunately sad closet, consisting only of her paladin armor, garrison uniform, pajamas, and some casual and formal clothes.
She finds a cute dress that she had picked up before leaving earth. A cute light blue, mid-length dress with a halter top and a big white ribbon tied around the waist. Lana was somewhat thankful for this festival, for this was one of the first times she’s had the chance to wear it. Most peaceful planet trips are normally attended in paladin armor.
For jewelry, she chooses simple sapphire stud earrings and a silver chain with blue embedded gems. For the other accessories, she gets out her shiny blue head band with white polka dots to push back her bangs, pulling out some strands to give it some flair.
In a bag, she packs a sky blue sparkly bodysuit with a pair of dark blue harem pants for her show. Lana’s show would be a “daring gymnastic performance” where she would just do some flips, aerial silks, and bending her back far enough to be considered entertaining.
Pleased with her outfit and makeup, she steps out of the room, finding Keira standing off to the side looking at her communicator.
As Lana sees her, she takes in the other’s outfit.
Keira is wearing loose black dress pants with a halfway unbuttoned dark red short sleeve button down tucked in with a white beater underneath. She’s wearing some ruby drop earrings and a gold chain around her neck, her wrists adorned with various metal bracelets and, of course, the iconic fingerless gloves. Her hair is half up like earlier, but the back had a jeweled hair clip holding the hair style together.
Approaching the girl, Lana grinned, “Hi, gorgeous, I’m pretty sure it’s a crime to look this good.”
Keira looked up, her ears turning a bright red before she teases back “If that's true, then why aren’t you locked up, pretty girl?”
Lana felt her face heat up at the pet name and changed the subject,
“Hey, why aren't you waiting in the Atlas common room with the others?”
“I had nothing to do,” Keira remarks, “And anyways,”
Keira turned completely towards Lana,
“I wanted to be the first to see you.”
‘Oh lord’ thinks Lana, ‘This is how I die. At the hands of a hot girl who probably doesn’t even realize she’s flirting right now.’
Instead, Lana jests, “Aw, if I didn’t know you, I would have thought that you were trying to keep me all for yourself.”
Keira stepped closer, “How do you know that’s not what I’m doing right now?”
“Hm,” Lana leaned in, “Just a hunch,”
Before the two could get any closer, the announcement speakers turned on suddenly,
“THE ATLAS WILL BE LANDING IN APPROXIMATELY 15 DOBASHES”
Stepping back, Keira cleared her throat,
“I guess that's our que to leave,”
“Yeah,” Lana mentally screams, but calmly replies, “Let’s go!”
She rushes to leave the room to avoid letting Keira see her red face, disappointed for their moment ending. Her mind rushes with the possible scenarios that could’ve come out of it if they weren’t interrupted.
She makes the last minute decision to look behind her to see Keira trailing after her, her indigo eyes staring at Lana like a lost puppy. With a dramatic sigh, Lana turns around and walks back to Keira and falls in step with her.
Keira’s previous pout was replaced with a small smile when Lana came back to her.
“What are you performing at the festival anyways?” Questions Keira.
“Oh you know,” Lana states, “The normal acrobatic stuff they always make me do in shows.”
“You always do that?”
“Yeah, turns out people are a sucker for a cute girl who can stand on one hand.”
Laughing, Keira nods back, “Yeah, I can see the appeal.”
“What are you doing anyways?” Inquires Lana.
“I think it’s some knife throwing stuff, either that or I have to fight in a rink. Like always.”
“Like always,” Lana agrees.
They walked through the halls of the ship, greeting whoever walked past them, until they reached the Atlas common room.
“Hello you two!” Allain chirped towards the girls, “Lana I must tell you something of utmost importance!”
“Oh, okay! Bye Keira, See you!” Lana blurts out while being pulled by Allain to the side.
Once the were a decent distance from Keira, Allain whispers,
“Do you know who brought you to bed last night?”
“No? I just thought Huk did it?”
Smiling deviously, Allain explains, “It was actually Keira, Romeo saw her carrying you last night like a new bride on humbermoon.”
Lana blushed furiously at the image of Keira carrying her into her room,
“A-are you sure??” She stammers out, looking back behind her where Keira is talking with Shira about something.
“Positive,” Allain giggles out.
Lana schools her face back to its normal confident smirk, and then approaches the two sisters.
“Hi Shira! Looking sharp,” Lana compliments.
“What were you two talking about?” Keira cuts in.
“Nothing too important, he found out that they sell one of the facemasks we’ve been wanting to try here!” Lana smoothly lies.
“Anyways..” Shira begins, looking between the two girls, “Thank you, Lana. You look good as well!”
The ship chimes with indication that they are landing soon, both Shira and Allain reminding everyone to make sure they have all of their needed items for the next few hours.
The ship doors open to reveal the green skies of Glorshia.

Chapter 4: My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder (Jeff buckley, You should’ve come over)
Summary:
"“Absolutely! Something is wrong with her, the guy probably just wanted to hang out with us!”
“Or,” Huk starts, “They might’ve only wanted to go with you, and Keira was Jealous.”
Lana scoffs out, “Why would Keira be jealous? She has her own fair share of fans.”
Sighing, Huk rephrases, “She wasn’t jealous of YOU, she was jealous of the GLORSHIAN, stupid.”
Smacking Huk’s arm, Lana’s face goes into shock, “She was jealous of the Glorshian, because she wanted to be with me?”
Smiling in relief, Huk says, “Yes, she wanted to be with you.”"

Chapter Text
“Okay you little snicker crackers!” Coral clapped her hands firmly, “Here are some gac to help you all entertain yourselves until the sky turns pink like the inside of a Weblum in depression! Then you all must report to the center stage the Glorshians have set up for you all to get ready!”
“The inside of a what in what..?” Pidge uttered, rubbing their eyes after taking a nap for the past 20 dobashes.
Patting their head in silent support, Allain passed over five extra gac to Pidge,
“Here you go, Pidge! I hope this would be enough for you to procure some new device to tinker with until our next stop,”
“Really!?” Exclaims Pidge, “Thank you! I’ll download those Altean movies you wanted on the television later,”
Smiling as if he had planned this, Allain replied, “Thank you, that would be very appreciated.”
Collecting her share of gac, Lana looks over at Keira,
“I bet I can win more fair games than you,” Lana goads.
“Are you sure?” Taunts Keira, “Because if I remember correctly, I won more games during clear day a few weeks back.”
Huffing, Lana retorts, “Sure buddy, and if I remember correctly, you also won by breaking a tie, so who knows!” she shrugged “I might win this time,”
Leaving the ship, the team split up in pairs to avoid getting lost. Huk and Pidge ran off in the direction of the science displays, Allain leisurely walked with Romeo to some of the food stalls, taking the chance to go on a mini date.
Waving off to Shira and the rest of the Garrison crew, Keira sped forward after Lana, who had already taken off to the shooting games.
“What? How come you got to choose??” Keira groaned, finally catching up to Lana as she was already giving 1 gac to the stall clerk.
“Are you just scared you’ll lose?” Lana sings out, “Didn’t know that the star student was so scared of losing, Mullet.”
Taking the bait, Keira swiftly grabs one of the toy guns, “I’M not going to lose, just can’t say the same for you, blue.”
The two play the game, in which who can shoot the most targets wins, and were fairly tied until Lana locked in (sorry for the slang) and started taking down the targets much faster and with more accuracy than Keira.
The last target is taken down and the Glorshian starts eagerly shouting,
“WINNNERR! Thank you, red paladin for playing this game! Please, choose one prize!”
Staring at the collection of various plushies and trinkets, Lana selected the large red lion plush,
“Take that, Mullet,” Lana grins, clutching the plushie like it’s her life line.
Keira rolls her eyes in mock annoyance as they move to the next game.
The co-leaders of Voltron go around the festival, playing almost all of the games, until they take a break at a snack stall.
Trying to pick up a piece of the solid jelly-like substance, Lana gushes,
“What the quiznack! It tastes like funnel cake??”
“No way,” Keira looks down at her own plate, not a single bite touched yet, “How.”
Startled at the unexpected response, Lana cackled, “What do you mean ‘how’??”
Poking at her food, Keira deadpanned, “I mean, how can this taste like funnel cake? That’s like two completely different things.”
“I dunno,” Lana shrugged, “Huk would know.”
Nodding in response, “Huk would know..” Keira repeated.
While the two were sitting on a small bench, enjoying each others company, a Glorshian approached them,
“Hello, red and black paladins of Voltron!” The Glorshian greeted, their translucent skin glowing a pale pink as they turned to Lana,
“Red paladin, would you be interested in accompanying me to the fortune teller?” They asked, beady eyes staring in anticipation.
Before Lana could reply, she watched as Keira stood up to fully face the alien,
“Sorry, we have to go to the stage soon.”, Keira grabbed Lana’s wrist and started walking away, not even going in the correct direction of the stage
“Wait, Keira!” Lana pulls her wrist away, standing still,
“What was up with that? The sky hasn’t even turned pink yet?”
Keira turned around to face Lana, her face on the verge of being serious, if it wasn’t for the pout resting on her face like a second skin,
“That Glorshian was being weird.”
“They weren’t being w eird they were just asking if I wanted to go with them to the fortune teller!”
“They were obviously trying to get a date with you!”
“Not everything is like that!” Lana hissed.
“With you it normally is! You’re too talkative to strangers!” Keira’s face shifted to something more angered.
"What in the world does that mean!?"
"It means You should STOP being so nice to everyone!"
“WE,” Lana gestures between herself and Keira, “are TRYING to make a good impression on this planet! We need more members in the coalition!”
“We need to make a good impression on the EMPRESS, not on randos who hit on you!”
“How was that person even hitting on me?? If anything it was an invitation! Not fucking flirting, Keira!”
Taking a deep breath, Lana looks up, watching the sky transitioning from green to a dull pink,
“I’m going, go do whatever you want.” And with that, Lana turned, her dress billowing in the wind as she navigated through the crowd, still holding the red lion plushie.
Keira stood there, alone, breathing in and out heavily, as surrounding Glorshians who were watching the argument went back to what they were doing to prevent angering the Black paladin anymore.
Watching the blue blur slowly leave her field of vision, Keira curses and runs her hand through her hair.
Taking in a deep breath, Keira buried her face in her hands,
“Fuck my gay ass life..”
“Stupid Keira, stupid flirting..” Lana mumbled to herself, approaching the stage.
Lana tried lifting her spirits, looking at the scenery of the various displays in the festival, as the looming presence of the large stage took up most of her vision.
“Ah, Lana! What a sight for bleeding eyes, go on, you must get ready for your show! You are scheduled to perform after number two’s cooking demonstration!” Coral belts across the backstage, waving frantically.
Her mood worsening, Lana mourns, “Wait, so I’m going to miss Huk’s show?”
“Yes, unfortunately you need to make sure that you are prepared before your performance, so it is a must that you have to skip over Two’s show.” Coral pats Lana’s shoulder sympathetically.
Lana whines loudly about how horrible her day had been, while walking away to get ready.
When she is done putting on the sparkly blue bodysuit with the harem pants on top, she steps outside to watch the stage get set up for her performance.
“Hi Lana!!” Huk greets, pulling the slightly shorter girl into a hug, “I saved you some of the food I made!”
Looking at the small plate huk held, filled with various cut jellies and cookie like pastries, Lana beams,
“HUUKK,” Lana wails, stuffing the jellies in her mouth, “You *munch* don’t *swallow* understand how much I need this right nooowwww!”
Her ever present worried look slips onto Huk’s face, “What happened? Are you nervous about your thing? Don’t worry, I always freak out before my shows, it went well! The people here are very kind, as long as you’re entertaining in some way, I guess.”
“No,” Lana hiccups out, accepting the water pouch Huk gave her, “I got into a dumb fight with Keira and she’s SO annoying!”
“I thought you two were getting way better?” Huk questions.
Lana sighed, “That’s what I thought too! But when some Glorshian asked me if I wanted to see something with them, she just pulled me away, and then just blew up on me for no reason!”
“Are you sure it was for no reason?” Coaxes Huk, realization setting into her face.
“Absolutely!
Smiling in relief, Huk says, “Yes, she wanted to be with you.”
“Oh,” and before Lana could say any more, the announcement yells through their megaphone,
“THE CURRANT RED, PAST BLUE PALADIN, LANA MCCLAIN, IS GOING TO BEGIN HER SHOW IN ROUGHLY 15 DOBASHES!”
