Chapter Text

A black-haired girl woke up. She didn't feel like doing anything, but she had to check on her brother. She got up as best she could and started walking. As she walked, her stomach kept asking for food. She couldn't remember how long it had been since she had eaten. Every morning the Warden passed by, he would tell them he would bring them the next day, but it never came.

Ashley began to look for some leftovers or canned food, already without hope, she looked in the refrigerator and behind the coffee maker, in vain, she decided to see for the 14th time if there was anything in the cupboards in vain, finally she decided to look in the mountain of garbage bags that had been accumulating these months, she put her hand in and began to search, finally next to one of the garbage bags she found a can of tomatoes, her face was happy, after so many months she had found something and it was edible.He went to the room they shared and saw his brother lying on the opposite side where one sleeps.

"Tadaah." said Ashley to her brother showing the can of tomatoes.

His Brother Andrew didn't react the way she expected.

Ashley repeated it a little louder and with more emotion, but his brother still had the same face.

"We're not eating that." finally said Andrew somewhat annoying.

Andrew was two years older than Ashley, had light skin, light green eyes, black and somewhat messy shorts, and was wearing a black sweater and pants of the same color.

"Huh?"said ashley confused.

"No.That's the very last thing we have, Ashley.I think we should hold on a little longer."

Ashley is a little annoyed with her brother.

"Quit your complaining!. You're energeting enough to go rummaging through of trash,so clearly yo're not dying yet!."

"Huh?.How did you know it whas in-."

"Because I hid it there.Away from you."

Ashley is very suprised and at the same time betrayed for his own brother.

"I live in a den of snakes!!." said Ashley furious.

"Ah,don't rile me up...You're making me hungry." said andy while he had his hand on his face.

"Do you know what would help with that,Andrew my dear?."said ashley with her hand in her mouth.

"No,put the tomatoes away somehere."

"Put them in my mouth,i will."

"I can see that your heat is set on this.Fine let's eat them ten. Srew our future selves."

Ashley was very happy her brother accept eat the tomates with her.

She left the room and headed to the kitchen, but suddenly a knock sounds at the door.

"Good day!.Are you still alive in there?." ask the man.

It the warden coming to see if they are alive or bring food like every day.

She didn't respond, every morning it was the same and she was quite annoyed with the poor service.

"Hello?.If you won't make a sound,i assume you're dead.And i don't bring food for the dead."

She ran to the door, stood in front of it and started screaming.

"You don't bring it to the living either!!".

"Hah!. i take that as a yes,still alive.And don't blame me for the delivery guys srewing up."

"Can't you go grab something from the store for us?."

"Nah,not my job.I'll check in on you again later,bye!".

The security guard ends the conversation and goes to see the next apartment.

"No wait,wait,wait come back!".

Ashley knock on the door to get the guard's attention but in vain.With nothing else to do, he starts making the can of tomatoes. When he's done, he serves it on the plate and puts it on the table.

"Andrew, the food is ready."

Ashley hear her brother's footsteps leaves the room and sits on the opposite side of Ashley. He sees that the tomato is all over the plate. He picks up his fork and tries it.

"Well?How is it?."

Ashley was a little curious about how it turned out and if his brother liked it.

"At this point you could feed me a can of worms and i'd say it's the best thing i ever ate."

"Kiss-ass."

Deep down she was a little angry, she had made a great effort to make them taste as good as possible and her brother had turned out to be fussy.

"No,i'm saying that's how hungy i am!!". said her brother with annoyance and some anger.

Suddenly they heard music, it was the music that the neighbor played every morning at that time and it had already tired him and his brother.

"Are you kidding me?The neighbor is at it again?."

"Wanna go take a peek?."

"Nope.But i'll come along if you do.Here,catch."

Andrew gave her the keys to the balcony, Ashley looked at them and smiled, she got up and started walking to the balcony, but as she walked she realized that she was getting more and more tired.

"You'd better lie down, what we ate didn't agree with you very well."

"Yes, I'd better lie down."

Ashley lay down on the couch and let the weight of her eyes do its work, slowly starting to sleep until a while or the next day.

Chapter Text

Little by little she begins to wake up followed by some noises at the door, she could barely move, however her brother still had the strength to knock on the door. Ashley gets up little by little, she begins to stagger and can hear her brother's conversation with the apartment's security guard.

"Boy, if you keep banging on the door you're not going to get dinner tonight."

"As if you gave us any, thanks to that my sister fainted from not eating."

"It's not my fault they don't bring you food, you must have done something to them, if you behave they'll bring you food tonight. Goodbye*

Ashley listen as the man walks away and hears his brother insulting.She leaves the room and sees his brother sitting on the floor angry.

"Don't feel guilty, they weren't going to bring us anything anyway."

"You think I've made it worse?." says Andrew, looking at his sister, somewhat worried.

"Probably."

Nothing was delivered to the apartment that night.Both Ashley and her brother were lying on their backs bored and lazy.

Her brother just sigh.

"Talk about something." star to talk Ashley.

"I got nothing."

"Try."

"So......Parasites.It's been a few months.Are you feeling anything?."

"No...well maybe the fainting that I had is a symptom."

"I don't think so."

"How are you so sure?."

"Because if not, you wouldn't be talking to me right now.·

"That right."

"And that nurse who took our blood test never came back and what she said she would do was monitor us."

"That's obliously not the case and has left us to our fate."

"Yeah. But probably when he remembers us, he will see us dead and together."

"You're a little morbid, you know?." said Ashley looking at her brother "Now i understand why your girlfriend left you."

"No,is not for that she left my."

"I dubt that."

"No, besides Julia doesn't know about that."

Suddenly the same music from a while ago is heard from the neighbor's apartment, he doesn't give it importance and suddenly a scream is heard, that scream was definitely not human or animal, Ashley and Andrew look at each other somewhat scared by the scream.

You don't understand why you have the strange feeling of going to see that, even though you try to avoid it at all costs, the sudden impulse overcomes you and you have no choice but to go and satisfy your curiosity even if it kills you.

When you go out to the balcony you realize that you are the only one who has heard it along with your brother, the neighbors do not even come out to complain or to check who is playing the music, if all their neighbors are already dead, you realize that you have nothing to cross to the other side and jumping is not an option unless you want to end your life in this horrible quarantine.

Ashley and her brother go back inside and both decide to look for something to be able to cross to the other side. Finally, Ashley finds a piece of wood from the recently broken shelf that neither of her parents had deigned to fix since they were busy with each other.Finally they leave and when he puts the board down he realizes that he is getting dizzy from one side to the other, he had not fully recovered his strength, just enough to walk but nothing more.

"Ashley,Are you sure you're okay?." ask andrew a little worried.

"Yes,only a little dizzy but not enouth to stop my."

Ashley gets on the board and starts walking on it, finally he reaches the other side with his brother, when looking out the window they see their neighbor dressed in a red tunic talking to something black and with three red eyes, neither of them can hear what he says, but seconds later the man is lying on the ground and lifeless, the creature was gone and both were amazed by what they had witnessed right in front of their noses.

"So,uuh...am i alredy delirious or did you see that too?."

"Do we,uuh...do you whant to check on him?."

"Well at the very least i whant to turn off that cd player."

The truth is that I didn't feel any guilt or remorse for him, he was indifferent, he had obtained what he was looking for and he had paid for it.

"That's what you're concerned about?." said looking at her sister again "I don't even know why it surprises me, after all you are Leyley."

"What is that supposed to mean?."

She whas a little annoyed for the comentary of her brother but try to ignor it.

"I'm not going to listen to that music for the rest of my life anyway."

Ashley looked around for something to break the glass with. The only thing she found was her brother's ashtray. She grabbed it, went back over the table and broke the glass. Upon entering, Ashley removed the CD and absolute silence reigned.She goes straight to the man who now lies dead in front of her and can't help but think that the man looks appetizing, her stomach growls with hunger.

"What?." said Andrew at see her sister with that suspicious eyes.

Apparently I thought it out loud and Andy heard me, well done Ashley.

"It's still illegal if we haven't killed him?."

"Is that ilegal?."

"Well....y'know..."

"Oh,you whant to eat him!."

Andrew is surprised by his sister's answer.

"I--isn't that what you are insinuating?."

"Nah,i was just making an observation."

"Aah,but we can't.If we do eat him, then that's it for us."

Without thinking, Ashley goes for a knife, Andrew looks at her very surprised, but before he could do anything else, Ashley faints and falls to the ground. The last thing she sees before closing her eyes is her brother in front of her, telling her that they shouldn't have let her come, and a pain in her wrist. She probably cut herself with the knife when she fell. Finally, she finally succumbed to the faint.

Ashley started to wake up little by little, she started to listen to the television again and to hear her brother Andrew complaining again.She seemed comfortable next to her brother and was listening to the TV, so her brother had probably dragged her to the sofa.

"How are you feeling?." ask andrew.

"A little better."

"I told you not to strain yourself, Ashley." now said a little anoyed looking at ashley.

"I know."

"But you never listen."

"I know."

"It took me a while to bring you here, you weighed as much as a sack of potatoes."

"You're calling me fat."

"Maybe."

They both laughed at the comment, how long it had been since they had such a good time, he doesn't even remember.

"So...what happened to the man?." ask ashley a little curious.

"He's probably still on the floor or maybe the guards have already found the body, who knows.Why ask?."

Andrew's stomach growls and istantly andrew turns a little red.

"That's why."

"I don't get it,what does this have to do with the neighbor next door?.What's your point?."

"I mean we can-"

"You've gone crazy, we're not going to eat the neighbor."

"It's our only option: eat our neighbor or starve to death."

Andrew put his finger to his mouth, somewhat nervous and hesitant.

"But...if the guards have already found the body and have reinforced security?."

"We'll have to take the risk, right? After all, it's what we've always done."

"Yeah,your right."

Andrew turned off the TV and stood up. Ashley followed him and they crossed to the other side of the balcony until they reached the neighbor's. Andrew noticed that no one was there and signaled Ashley that they could come in. Upon entering, they found everything just as they had seen it before.

Ashley realized that her brother had his doubts, Ashley took the knife from his hands and cut off his right arm, then she cut off his left arm.

"We can't carry him out in the open like this." star to talk andrew again.

"Just be quik about this."

"No! can't you go get some plastic bags or something?. It take care of the rest in the meanwhile.... i guess."

"I'm counting on you,andy."

"Don't call me that."

You went home again and grabbed some plastic bags and went back to where your brother Andrew was, you helped him put the cultist's body inside and you went back home, where you put it in the refrigerator where it could be preserved for a couple of days or even months.

Ashley takes a piece of meat and starts to cook it in the pan. When you're done, you call your brother Andrew and you both take the first bite. Your brother finds it disgusting and tries to throw it up, but Ashley stops him. Ashley eats it without any problems, although she really wants to spit it out, she doesn't and you prefer to have something to fill your stomach with for today,your brother Andrew does the same and you wait for him to finish his plate before picking it up.

Ashley goes to bed after filling her stomach and you hope it continues for a long time.

She doesn't know how much has happened but he hears his brother's voice calling him.

"Ashley?.Are you awake?."

Little by little starts to wake up and looks at her brother in front of her.

"I am now."

"Um...okay."

"What is it?."

"Nothing,is just..."

Ashley know that face,a nervous look when something go wrong.

"God,what the fuck did we do?!."

"You're still about dinner?!."

It bothered her too, but they had already done it, what was done was done, they couldn't go back a few minutes and for what they had done

"Fine,just starve then,more for me!!!."

"How are you like this?!.Are you out of your mind?!" now said andrew angry.

"Listen,i din't kill the guy". said ashley traying to calm his brother "So din't do anithing wrong."

"You mutilated and ate a coprse!!!".

"What else were we supposed to do?!."

"Call the warden and let him know he died?."

"Ah yes..."um,sir. He summoned a demon and then died!. I swear we didn't do it."

"Yeah??. I- we wouldn't have had to admit we were there.We could've just told him to go check on the guy."

"Andrew,what the hell?."

"What, "what the hell??".

"Dind't we both agree on this?.I could've sworn it whas your suggestion in the first place.."

"I whas too hungry to think straight,okay?."

"Now,that's some bullshit.But fine,let's assume it was so.What do you want me to do about it?."

"I..."

"Whoos,whoos.There goes my magic wand!.There,i've absolved you of your sins,you never took a bite now.You're welcome."

"Well,gee.Thanks.We'll see how that holds in the face of the law."

"Listen,who cares."

At this point, Ashley didn't care, although she knew it had to be the opposite, but at this point she couldn't do anything to fix it or feel anything.

"Isn't this like some extreme circumstances stuff?. Like can't we be excused?,it's the water company's fault.First the lock us in for months and then they won't ever feed us.And is cabin fever a real thing? maybe we can plead insanity?."

"I don't know, Ashley."

Andrew drops his head onto his sister's bed and sighs.

"There,there,there." said ashley touching his head and giving him a little pat on the head to reassure him.

"Y'know.i-.I couldn't get his head off."

"Huh?."

Ashley didn't understand what he was getting at with that and why he was thinking about it now instead of getting some sleep.

"Like he didn't fit in the frezzer proper. So i needed to chop his head off,but i coldn't cut it.His spine was too--..anyway i kinda just... "

Ashley could help but make a slightly pitying face, it was probably the first time he had done it and he was traumatized.

"Uh...like kept cutting around and then pulled it off.Like some... plant. I don't know.I keep thinking about it."

Andrew crossed his arms and rested his head on them as if it were a pillow.

"Ugh,i can't--fuking sleep,ashley ,it's--."

"C'mere."

The only thing Ashley could think of was to sleep with her so she could sleep more peacefully and stop thinking about it for a couple of hours.

"I don't know what's wrong with you." said andrew looking at ashley "How are you so unbothered?."

"I don't know.I compartmentalize."

Obliously she was lying,probably she inherited it from her mother or one of her grandparents, but for now she would prefer to give her that answer than to worry her brother more.

"Kinda like we compartmentalized that guy into different freezes!."

"Ashley!." said her brother angry and worried.

Ashley couldn't help but laugh.

"Andrew,what is it andrew?."

Finally her brother bites her finger and Ashley lets out a mini scream at the unexpected damage.

"I told you to stop calling me that.We're not kids anymore."

"Then why are you crying like a such a baby?."

Ashley star to mock him.

"I'm not crying?!."

"Whaa,whaa.Mommy,the big bad me did the evil thing!."

"You shut your whore mouth."

"Make me,you little bitch."

"Tch,forget this."

"Hey,andy?. Remeber when we used to go on adventures."

"What?."

"Andy and Leyle's quest for something-or-another.Remember?."

"Why bring this up?."

"Isn't this just another one of these?."

"S-shut up,and go to sleep." said andy a little red for embarassement "G-good night."

Andrew went to his bed and turned around to try to get some sleep, Ashley had no choice but to resign herself and listen to him, she closed her eyes until sleep invaded her and she lost consciousness.

Chapter Text

Leyley opens her eyes and sees that her brother is not there, she gets up, in the closet in front of her she sees that there is a note stuck.

"Awaiting thy arrival back at the cultist's lair.- Andy"

Ashley thinks is very sweet of her brother worring about that about her and at the same time a relief to think it was a suicide note because of all this quarantine and the weird things that have happened to them lately.She left the room and didn't see her brother in the kitchen or the dining room, nor in her parents' room.The only thing left to look at was the balcony, when she didn't see it she turned her head in case she was in the direction of the neighbor's balcony, probably her brother was inside the neighbor's house. Ashley crossed the wooden plank until she reached the neighbor's balcony, upon entering she saw her brother looking at the book that the neighbor had on the table.

"Hey there." said Andy to her sister.

"Good Morning." ashley said back "What'cha up to?."

"I'm looking at this demon summoning instruction manual book things..."

"Brave.Given things turned out so well for that cultist guy."

"Debatable. I mean he was successful up to the point he lacked an offering. Anyway is says here that demons don't think much of humans."

"Well that's good. We'll have something in common then."

"Yeah,yeah.So they're only willing to do bussines as long as it's quick and easy for them."

"I take it you want to ask one to get us out of here?."

"Well i wouldn't want to get "out of here" the same way the cultist did,but i do think this is our best bet for now."

"So what will we ask from it?."

"I don't know yet."

"Okay. Then what will we bargain with?."

"I don't know that either."

"Nice."

"I-i just barely woke up! Give me a minute!!.It's says here demons prefer human souls, so obviously it's gotta be that."

"Where to get a soul while stuck in here."

Ashley star to think.

"W-what are you looking at?."

"Oh,nothing."

"Ashley."

"What?.I wouldn't."

"Tought about it. I see."

"Let me keep my thoughts my own. Don't we already share enought?."

"One second thoughts,let's not do this."

"Oh,c'mon. I'm not going to sacrifice you.We'll figure something out. Let's just set the ritual up for now.What is need?. "

"I'm not doing this yet,but you can start by replacing the candles for now."

Ashley go to do with her bother said replacing the candles.She took them and placed them on each point of the red star drawing and finish go to Andrew.

"Finish what now?."

"Now we-."

Before she could finish saying anything the door rang twice, both she and her brother were a little alarmed as to who it could be.

"Still alive and kicking,are you?."

Ashley look at andy and se him very surpised and a little panic.

"You've been quiet lately,pal. I'm getting a lil worried here."

Ashley didn't say anything either and waited for the guard to leave but instead they only heard a sigh.

"Yeah,hi. Hello.One of my guys isn't answering.The weirdo one. I think he croaked?. But is just a B type anyways."

Ashley star to think whant he meant with B type but continue listening.

"Sigh....Fine. I'll check it after my round."

The warden's footsteps move away from the door.

"Is THAT all we would've had to do to get the door open?!.Just shut up for two days?!.

She was angry and Andrew scared.

"Oh shit!!. He's gonna come in and see all THIS.No,no,no,no."

Andrew after saying that he put his hands on his face.

"Enought. Go stall him at our door,i'll clean this up!."

When her brother is paniking ashley.She is the one in charge of solving things and making her brother see reason before he panics more.

"He's still gonna find the guy missing."

"Unless he checks the freezer. Which is where all this blood is poiting at."

"Noo."

"Go!. Before he notice we're not home!!. said ashley loud and clear to his brother "And keep him until i've mopped up all the blood. Maybe then he'll asume the guy jumped off the balcony or something."

"There sould be a courpse below then."

"You get to be that corpse if you don't get going alredy."

She didn't mean it, she just wanted them to finish arguing and start doing the work before the guard noticed something strange.

Finally, what she said made him start moving and he went to the apartment while she also returned, but to get cleaning products and clean up the neighbor's blood.When I finished picking up the products I went back to the neighbor's house and started cleaning. It took me a while, but I finally got all the blood off the floor. You could barely tell there was ever any blood.

"Ashley the warden is coming!." said her brother shouting from the balcony.

Ashley panicked a little and started to think, he had only a few seconds to hide and looked in places where he could fit, he had the balcony and the closet, finally he decided on the closet since he heard the footsteps getting closer and closer and hiding on the balcony wouldn't give him time.Finally enter to the closet and closed the doors as much as she could and trying to be as quiet as possible in time because seconds later the warden enter.

"Greetings and salutations."

The Warden I walk even further until I am at the beginning of the circle.

"Huh?.Anybody home?."

The Warden looks around and doesn't see anyone, he gets quite annoyed.

"Oh great.Another suicide."

He continues walking a little further forward and Ashley sees him walking towards her. She doesn't understand why he has noticed that small detail. Suddenly, the guard looks, opens the closet and sees Ashley.

"How did you get in here?." ask the warden calmly to ashley.

Ashley was about to answer with some excuse, but suddenly she saw her brother behind the guard and with a knife, his brother hit him in the neck making him fall instantly and bleed a lot. Ashley didn't say anything, she was in shock first because she almost ended up arrested or worse and because her brother had just murdered someone in front of her, for a moment she thought she didn't see remorse in his eyes, only satisfaction, is that what her brother felt when he was with her all the time, fear? Now they had changed roles even if it was for an instant.

"Sigh."

Ashley didn't dare say anything, it was the first time she was afraid of someone, her brother, her own family, her brother was still holding the knife full of blood and now he was squatting and looking at her with annoyance, you could say it was her personal Karma and she deserved it.

"C'mon then leyley,let's go play." said andy reaching out for her to get up, now she was little Andrew and he was little Leyley, what would he do next?.

Ashley accepted the hand and stood up, the guard's body was lying down and a lot of blood was flowing from the neck.

"Seesh.I tought i got caught there."

"You did."

Andrew was annoyed and rightly so, but she couldn't think of a better hiding place, it was that or get caught.

"Happen to the best of us."

They ended up arguing for a while and found a key in one of the guard's pockets. When they tried the key, they realized it was the same one she had used to open the door to enter the apartment. When Ashley stepped outside, she began to feel ill. The last thing she heard before falling to the ground was her brother calling her by name and dragging her to the apartment. Then she closed her eyes completely.

Ashley star to open her eyes again, this time in his bed. Perhaps her brother begins to think that what she said was not so crazy and that parasites were eating him from the inside?.When she got out of bed she noticed that her head hurt, she was hot and could barely walk straight. Suddenly she saw her brother come in and pick her up so she wouldn't fall. He put her back in bed and told her to go to sleep.

She wanted to complain, but in her state she decided to listen reluctantly, she closed her eyes and fell asleep immediately, when she woke up she saw that it was all dark, so she immediately realized it was night. She got out of bed and noticed that she was much better, her head no longer hurt, she felt a little warm but she could walk much more easily than before.

Ashley started walking down the hall trying to make as little noise as possible, she bumped into a couple of things before reaching the kitchen and grabbed a glass, put it under the tap and turned it on, but it didn't pour any water. She immediately remembered the situation they were in, all she could do was swallow her own saliva as if she were drinking water and go back to bed.It was hard to sleep, but he finally managed. When he woke up the next day, he realized it was midday because of the sunlight shining through the window. He got up again, closed the bedroom door, and started listening to the television while he walked toward the dining room.

"How are you feeling?".

"Much better."

"Do you remember the paper we found with the key?."

"Yes.What about it?."

"I've already found out which door it is."

"You left the apartment without me."

"Well,yeah,only a moment."

"They might have caught you."

"Luckily they didn't catch me."

"Thank goodness."

"Oh.You are worried about me?!."

Andrew was suprised

"Of course i do,If they catch you, they'd catch me too."

Andrew wasn't surprised by that answer, but for a moment she had a spark of hope that Ashley cared about someone other than her.

"Well, are we going or not?." said finally ashley.

"Do you want go now?."

"Yes.We can either be bored to death here or go out and explore other people's apartments to see what we discover."

"Hehehe." laught andrew "Typical Leyley."

"What do you mean by that?."

"Nothing,nothing."

"Andrew answer me."

"Well do you want go or not?!."

"Yeah i go."

Ashley saw Andrew get up and she followed behind him wearing the same clothes she wore every day, she saw her brother look through the peephole and then open the door a little, she looked around. When she saw that there was no one there, he moved forward and she followed him, when she looked around she realized that there was no one. Andrew took out the key and opened door 401.

When they looked at first they didn't notice it but they didn't realize that there was someone with them.

"Zzzz."

Ashley and Andrew were startled and turned their heads quickly to see if someone was with them, luckily he was asleep and they had to be careful not to make any noise.Suddenly the noise of the walkie talkie was heard.

"Chris.How are things going there?.....Chris?."

The sleeping man in front of him named Chris didn't respond, he continued sleeping without knowing if there was an emergency.

"Well, I guess you're probably sleeping after the last round you did. I hope you're sleeping well. Over and out."

Andrew and Ashley advanced little by little to see the man and know if he was still sleeping and in fact he was.the man was thin with the police uniform, he had a baton on the table, short black hair, somewhat pale skin and dark circles under his eyes.

"Zzzzz."

"Apparently we can't go through floors one and two." said Andrew carefully telling his sister in a low voice so as not to wake him up.

"And what can we do?."

"Maybe we can go where they throw the garbage, there's an exit there."

"I'm not going to go there, Andrew."

"And what other way out can you think of?!."

"Mmmmm" said Ashley thinking "None."

Without either of them realizing it, the guard began to wake up little by little, as did the walkie talkie.

"By the way Chris, I forgot to tell you that I'm coming up to where you are."

Andrew and Ashley began to look for an exit on the sides, but as soon as they looked back they saw that the guard was looking at them both, angry and surprised.

"Hey you two, how did you escape from the apartment?!."

Andrew quickly and panicked grabbed the policeman's baton, causing him to lose his weapon. The policeman grabbed the walkie talkie to call for backup, but Ashley took it from him. Andrew hit him with the baton before the policeman could react. The policeman ended up on the floor somewhat unconscious, and Ashley left the walkie talkie on the table a little far from where they were.

They continued thinking about where to hide, but they were running out of options and they started to hear more and more footsteps getting closer and closer to them. If they were discovered, they would be finished; they would no longer have freedom.

"Hands up, where I can see them."

A man shouted at them behind them, when they turned around it was another security guard.

"I said hands up."

Andrew and Leyley looked at each other. It was just one cop, they could easily take him out, but there was one problem, the gun pointed at them. The only thing they could do was surrender, but that wasn't an option for her. As soon as the cop thought he could do it, but immediately two more cops were behind the cop, they took out two handcuffs and heard from the other cop's walkie talkie that they have been attacked and probably infected for the virus.

Ashley and Andrew were locked back in their apartment, but not before searching both of them in case they were carrying something to get back out or in case they were attacked. When they saw that they had nothing they started to argue loudly. Andrew had told his sister that it was her fault and Ashley told him that if he had been that fast they wouldn't have caught them and now they would be free from that disgusting apartment, they had finally discovered that they had put two security guards outside their apartment and that they had triple the security than before, they reconciled and stopped fighting. Both could do nothing but talk for hours until sleep overcame them and they fell asleep.

Andy and Ashley were trapped again in an apartment, but this time in a stranger's apartment. They were both lying down with no way to escape, since security had been reinforced and they couldn't risk going to their apartment since there was a high chance of them getting caught.

"So" star to talk Andy.

"Yeah?." said Ashley.

"Do you have any escape plan?."

"Nothing and you?."

"No."

"Well, I've come up with something, but it's quite risky."

"And what it is?."

But before he could tell her the plan, the door slammed shut and both brothers got a little scared and looked where the sound had come from.

"It's time for your routine checkup."the security guard of that apartment suddenly said.

"You never check on us and now suddenly you're worried?!." said Andy suprised and angry.

The nurse looked at the guard and then looked back at both brother and sister.

"What are you talking about? It's obvious that we do it every day at the same time." continue talking the guard.

Both brothers immediately realized that the security guard was saying this so as not to alert the nurse.

"Okay, lift up your shirt sleeve a little, this isn't going to hurt."

The nurse took out the needle and stuck it in her arm. When she finished taking a blood sample from Andrew, she continued with Ashley. When she finished taking both blood samples, she put them in her backpack.

"The results will be ready first thing tomorrow morning."After saying that the nurse left and closed the door.

"I will be watching you, every move, every hour and every second." said the guard,open the door and left the apartament closing the door behind him.

"It's not going to hurt, shit, it hurt like hell." star to talk Andrew again.

"Hey, what was the plan you were going to tell me?."

Ashley inmediatly wanted to change the subject so he would stop thinking about it and they could get out of here. Honestly, she had a very bad feeling that a nurse had taken a blood sample from them. They had to escape from there as soon as possible. Besides, she was tired of being locked up and wanted to get out into the fresh air.

"Well, the plan I had thought of was to get out through the window with the help of the blankets we found around the apartment."

"Your plan has several flaws,genius."

"So think of a better plan before tomorrow."

"Tomorrow.?"

"You forget that tomorrow the nurse will return with the results."

"It's true...but he probably won't come."

"Well, he said it with complete certainty."

"Well, if tomorrow comes and we don't have any plans, we're screwed by then."

"Yeah,probably."

Andy and Leyley got busy and started pulling out useful items. 20 minutes later, each found a different item. Ashley found a toothbrush and two sheets. Andrew found five different-colored towels and one more sheet.

"With the sheets and cloths we can make an exit by grabbing one with the other and the toothbrush as an emergency weapon."

"let's do it tonight without fail."

"Count on it."

Andrew and Leyley got to work and began to fasten one after the other until they had all in place, the sunset was already beginning to set, they opened the window and watched that no one was coming from either side, they put the sheets outside the window and grabbing one end of it with something sharp, finally the long-awaited day had arrived the escape, both climbed down as quickly and carefully as they could, after a long 10 minutes they reached the ground and for the first time in a long time they were free from the confinement that had been put on them for being "Infected". As soon as they touched the ground they ran without looking back and happy for the first time in a long time without worrying about anything.

After running for a while we lost the police who were following us. Both my brother and I looked like we had run as if we were in the Olympics and had to hide in the first place we saw. Luckily we had managed to escape in time and get on a bus without knowing the destination, but I didn't care as long as it was as far away as possible from the apartment where they were locked up for months without eating or drinking.But now they couldn't afford to sleep because they could be caught, put back in an apartment full of infected or worse. Directly shot and die trying to escape. Both were between the middle seats of the bus, not too far from the exit, but not too far from the back in case they had to climb out the window in an emergency. Looking at her brother Andrew, she saw him fast asleep and all her worries dissipated. Little by little her eyelids felt heavy, on the one hand she wanted to sleep, on the other hand she felt that if she fell asleep she have the feeling would lose everything.

"5 minutes doesn't hurt anyone."

Ashley fall sleep and star to dream,it whas in the apartament in the same sofa And lying down, in front of you you hear the news of the pandemic.

"Today marks 4 months since the infected have been locked up in the block ________.Nothing is known yet about the situation in that block, but we are very happy that you are quite far from us and that your bodies are going to hell."

The reporter looked back at the camera.

"I mean Thank you for your good service to the community and for the great effort it takes to stay in the block. Get well and good luck."

The transmission was cut off at that moment.

"What the?."

You were quite confused, if you had just escaped from the apartment with Andrew, as I have- Ashley's thoughts are interrupted when she notices that someone has thrown a blanket over you.

"Are you going to stay on the couch all day? .What a waste of time."

You reconize that voice,is Andy voice ans what is he saying that,how hypocritical.

"Said the Boy who sleep all day in bed 24 hours a day while I have to do everything around the house."

"It is your duty as a woman."

"Excusme?!."

Did i hear correctly?!.

"No matter how you look at me Leyley, women have always had to stay at home doing housework while we men work our butts off and bring in money."

Ashley noticed that he was getting angry little by little. What she had said was very sexist. It's true that it has been like that since ancient times, but she would like them to put themselves in women's place and stay at home doing everything that women do. They always have to put them on a fucking pedestal, even though women are the heroes on very few occasions.

"You guys are always put on a pedestal, while women are just objects to satisfy men's needs."

"THAT NO-."

"YES,IT IS.DON'T TRY TO DENY IT, WE'RE IN THE 90'S, THIS IS HOW THINGS WORK."

"HERE ARE THOSE IN THERE, SHUT UP." said the voice of the security guard on the other side of the door.

"Leyley."

"What?!."

"I don't said Anithing."

"Leyley." said again Andrew.

"If you want to tell me something, tell me, you don't have to call me."

"But i don't call you right now.I'm serious."

"ASHLEY,WAKE UP."

Suddenly Ashley wakes up and sees that they are still on the bus. When she turns her head to her right she sees her brother Andrew.

"What?!."

Andrew covered his mouth.

"Sssh."

"Mmmmh." try to talk Ashley.

We'd better get out of here as soon as possible. They just announced that two people from our block have escaped and have given our descriptions.

Ashley she was a little startled and she has a little of fear.

"But I have a plan." Andrew I'm heading to the gas station. "You see that gas station?."

Ashley nodded.

"Well, while you were sleeping, they told us that we could stop and rest for about 20 minutes. We'll take advantage of that and go."

Ashley nodded again.

The bus began to slow down little by little and the passengers on board began to get off little by little. When they got off, they noticed that the driver was looking the other way and they took advantage of it to run. Again, without knowing where they were going to end up, if it would be their salvation or their doom.
