Undertale Purple and Green Concept

Summary:

Basically a concept for a theoretical Purple and Green soul playthrough in Undertale before Undertale Yellow and Undertale's events occur, follow the story of Hope and Sunny as they wander the underground on parallel tracks only destined to cross at the end.

Chapter 1: Before The Story

Chapter Text

Undertale: Purple and Green Inspired by Undertale Yellow

Prologue: Before the Tale

Long ago there were two races, HUMANS and MONSTERS.

They ruled over the earth, using magic in everyday life.

One day, war broke out between the races, for every human death, 20 monsters became dust and scattered to the wind.

Losing the war, monsters were sealed underground a massive mountain by 7 powerful sages wielding magic taught to the human race long ago.

Time passes to the current year, 20xx.

Several have braved the mountain of Ebott, yet none have returned, leading to the nickname Monster Mountain.

Two souls, fate intertwined, climbed the mountain for their own reasons.

One with the soul of PERSEVERANCE, able to face the challenges of Ebott with long lost magic.

One with the soul of KINDNESS, giving and receiving in turn by both nature and locals as they scale Ebott.

Both enter a dark cave, and fall down into the depths of the mountain.

(Upon start menu, you can choose between KINDNESS or PERSEVERANCE)

Chapter 2: Purple Ruins ( Perseverance Pacifist)

Summary:

The Beginning

Chapter Text

Route: Ruins -> Empty City (the area you look over next to you knife) -> Snowdin Forest -> Deep Forest -> Tanglegrowth Academia-> Oasis -> New Home -> Barrier

Note: all enemies and battle dialogue will be listed at the very end of the areas (This does not apply to bosses and mini bosses)

Upon landing in the underground, you will be in the patch of golden flowers, your name is Hope, the one soul with the most perseverance in all of the underground.

Hope’s appearance is a short haired human with thick glasses, a black long sleeve shirt, baggy pants, and a cloak that changes coloration or accessories based on later equipment.

Upon checking the menu, you will have two books for equipable weapons, and cloaks for defense, the two books are named “Ways To Make Conversation” and “Snappy Comebacks” and instead of having the normal FIGHT, ACT, ITEM, MERCY, you will have MAGIC, BOOK, ITEM, and MERCY.

MAGIC will use spells from the book you have selected, books are accessed through the BOOK option and selecting one, each book has 4 selections of spells and have different effects, Snappy Comebacks will have Shocking Retort, Burning Sarcasm, Icy Stare, and Heal Turn. 3 are used to deal damage to the monsters elemental weakness (dictated by color of name when hit by an elemental attack), and one is used to heal hp (cannot be used for 2 turns, healing varies on lvl and book). Ways To Make Conversation will have Talk, Check, Make Eye Contact, Smile, Flirt, and Personal Space, most of these are just ways of dealing with ruins monsters, but Personal Space will allow you to activate a shield that breaks after one hit and nullifies the attack, if you make it through the attack without taking damage, you keep the shield for 2 more turns of combat.

Upon leaving the room and heading into the next area you will encounter a Whimsun and will choose to SPARE or use MAGIC to win the battle and move onto the next room.

You will find various save points that will allow you to save your progress.

*An odd light glimmers before you.
*You walk toward it and bask in a deep warm glow
*The sight of a golden petal on the floor fills you with an odd sense of PERSEVERANCE.

From here the Ruins will carry out like normal without Toriel with some slight differences, such as having to actually do the puzzles as well as being told that the dummy is watching you if you try to leave the room without interacting with it, avoiding the tutorial completely if you read it and move on. In the spike floor room you will come to the spikes and will hear a distant “Excuse me?! Can you hear me?!” before the camera will pan over to Toriel on the other side of the puzzle.

~
“Ah! A human! I apologize I wasn't near the entrance to the Underground, it seems the puzzle isn’t working properly after guiding the last human through here, if you can, will you look for a way to lower the spikes?”
~

After the dialogue ends, you will notice a wispy light blue light in the water next to the bridge, pressing the interact button will freeze the water with one of your spells, Icy Stare. The ice will float down the water and to the other side of the puzzle and you’ll end up with Toriel in the next room.

~
“!!!”

“Child, did you just use magic?”

“It’s been so long since I’ve seen a human cast magic before.”

“Do all other humans cast magic?”

*No. Just me.

“Ah, that is a shame, how did you learn?”

*...

“Ah, I’m getting ahead of myself, I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins.”

“I’ve been the guardian of this place for quite a long time.”

“Surprisingly, another human came just before you, so despite our brief meeting, I need to make sure they’re not in any trouble or having any problems around the RUINS.”

“Since you’re able to cast magic, I’m sure you’ll be able to manage by yourself, after all our home is quite linear.”

“I’ll explain more when we’re home.”

She moves to the end of the screen

“Until then, my child.”
~

Toriel then leaves and you’re left by yourself, allowing you to press forward into the RUINS. Most of the area is unchanged besides the tutorial froggits teaching you how combat works pertaining to your powers.

~
Froggit: Ribbit. Ribbit.
(Excuse me human.)
(I have some advice for someone with your unique traits.)
(using MAGIC can either be harmful or helpful depending on the implication of words)
(If you harm a monster enough to be low health, they will be sparable, though they may not be as kind as if you just spared them normally.)
(So please, instead of fully depleting their HP, show some MERCY instead.)
~

As implied by the froggit, there will be a route with unique dialogue if you spare monsters through violence.

The next few rooms will proceed as normal in normal Undertale with a few slightly tweaked monsters and an occasional new face. However, there will be some puzzles where you can use your powers marked by sparkling purple light that will allow you to use magic to solve the puzzle, in the three rocks puzzle, the bottom rock is missing, so you will need to interact with the purple light to conjure a block of ice to slide onto the switch, pushing too hard will send it too far, so if you move too hard, it’ll go flying, if you get it stuck, you can resummon it again with the purple light.
*Knowing the mouse will brave the distance to grab the cheese one day, fills you with PERSEVERANCE.
SAVED

The next room has a narrow passage covered in cobwebs, using Burning Sarcasm will burn away the webbing as well as-

~
“OW OW OW OW OW-“

“Hey, jerk! You dare burn down my hard work?!”

“You’ll pay one way or another! Prepare to be smothered!… In spiders.”
~

💜Battle Start💜
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
In front of you stands a spider girl in a beret, thin circular glasses that don't cover the three other eyes on her face. Her dress is white and frilly with puffy long sleeves, covering all her arms as she holds different objects in each hand, one has a paintbrush, one with a painter palette, one has a chisel, one holds a camera, and the lower arms are crossed in front of her as she has a slightly peeved look.

Tuffet is resistant to no attacks, but is weak to fire damage.

Observations:
*Tuffet is mourning her work of art while preparing an attack.
*There are some spiders telling her to calm down, she's too focused on her next bullet pattern.
*Tuffet tries to rhyme orange with something…
She gives up and just says morange.
*Webbing is sticking to your cloak
Using Check:
*Tuffet - ATK 6 DEF 7
*An artist.
*Stretching herself thin like her webs.
Using Make Eye Contact:
*You stare at Tuffet, she feels awkward.
*You look at Tuffet, but not knowing which eye to look at, you quickly lose your nerve.
*You look at Tuffet, but you focus so hard you somehow end up looking at some weird golden flower on the wall.
Using Smile:
*You smile at Tuffet, she’s still in a bad mood.
*You smile wider, you succeed in creeping her out as well as yourself, ATK lowered for both of you.
*Choose something else, this is stupid.
Flirt:
*You tell her that her artistry is second to none, Tuffet blushes and looks to the side.
*You tell Tuffet that her exoskeleton shines like moonlight, she blushes harder, DEF lowered.
*You say her soul is already the most beautiful piece of art she’s made, her blush has gone neon as she loses focus on the battle. (Battle end)
Personal Space:
*You distance yourself from Tuffet, she takes this as an insult.
*You move further from Tuffet, Tuffet takes this as a challenge.
*You start running around the room away from Tuffet, she's chasing you while attacking.
Talk:
*You apologize to Tuffet, she huffs, but calms down slightly.
*You explain the situation to Tuffet, she listens, her attack speed slows.
*You summarize and tell her you’re willing to help her with any art she’s making to help. (Can be spared)
Dialogue during battle:
“Artistic demise will be your… eyes?”
“You destroyed my things, your neck I’ll wring!”
“Take this! I swear I won’t miss >~>”
“If you don’t pay, I’ll keep this up all day!”
After Flirt options:
“…! That means nothing! You still need roughing!”
“Q-quit it already, allow my heart to be steady!”
“D-do you mean it?”
After Talk options:
“Apologies won’t fix my web, nothing can be said.”
“Wait, was it covering the path? Have I unfairly shown my wrath?”
“... You want… To help me with my art?”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
💜Battle End💜

Upon ending the battle she stands in front of you, no longer rhyming and awkwardly looking away, if you ended the battle with Flirt, then she’s sporting a blush throughout the dialogue.

~
“I probably shouldn’t have gotten so worked up over it, it was blocking the way.”
Squints
“Though setting my art on fire gets a pass only once.”

“And I apologize for the whole rhyming thing. I've been trying to get into the business of limericks and singing, though you can probably tell I've not been very successful…”

“I… Haven’t been successful in any of my endeavors…”
*Your web was beautiful.

“…”

“W-wait really?”

“You really mean it?!”

“That’s the first time I’ve heard praise for my work!!!”

She hugs you while spinning before she puts you down

“But you’re a human right?”

“I’ve heard a lot about what your kind does to us spiders, could it be that… You aren’t afraid of us?”

“I’ve never really met anyone who hasn’t been cruel or uncomfortable with our kind before.”

“People usually run from me, though I don’t know if it’s because of my looks or if it’s because of my awful singing…”

“…”

“I have an idea that is beneficial to both of us, if you’re willing.”

“To encourage this peace between humans and spiders, I help you leave, and you tell all the surface dwellers that we aren’t anything to fear.”

“Does that sound good Mr. Human?”
*Of course

“Hehehe yes!”

“Now that we’re good ol’ friends, I have another idea!”

“You prefer wearing cloaks right? I can tell because yours seems to have seen some wear and tear. I figure that I could weave my webbing into different cloaks for you to wear, though it’ll take a while, so it’ll probably be ready later.”

“We could meet at the end of the ruins, maybe even give Ms Toriel a visit since she seems to be a kind soul!”

“Well, I’ll get started on a design I’ve been thinking of making for a while, see you up ahead Mr. Human!”

~

Tuffet will exit the room, in the room to the right will be two small webs that can be interacted with

~
“Dark…”
“Spacey…”
“Quiet…”
“Perfect for a bake sale! Ms. Muffet will be thrilled!”
~

And

~
*This spider doesn’t talk, because it is a spider.
*It waves at you though.
*You wave back.
~

The next room will have three froggits lined up next to each other, you can speak to them for dialogue

~
Ribbit Ribbit.
(I drank a potion from the old city given to me by a figure in a cloak.)
(It tasted delicious, but I have noticed I’ve grown a pixel shorter recently!)
(At this point, by the time the next human shows up, there might be a micro froggit running around!)

Next Froggit

Ribbit, ribbit?
(We have made this specific room our home, but all we have done for the past 5 days is nothing.)
(Perhaps it is time to share a forbidden font of knowledge, perhaps about the f4 button…)
(Maybe some other time.)
Ribbit.

Next Froggit

Ribbit, ribbit.
(You and that other human that passed by are very kind to us monsters, so allow me to help.)
(If a monster’s name is yellow, you can end the battle by sparing them, otherwise the fight could last for hours and hours and hours and…)
(I’m talking too long arent I? Perhaps you could try to spare me to see if I stop.)
~

The next room will be simple, just activate the switch you come across by falling down the hole, although if you find the ribbon you’ll have unique dialogue.

~
*...
*This ribbon doesn’t really fit your look.
*Even if it did, it’d be rude to steal someone's ribbon just because it was left around…
*Why does this object make you feel so… Uncomfortable and grim?
The outer screen gets darker
*You remember something your mother said, “Once we pass on, the objects we love, be it objects or people, will have part of our souls with it.”
*It used to be so comforting thinking some little part of you could stay in this world after being gone.
*Once your story was told, there would be something to be there to let it continue.
*The best stories never really end.
*...
*Keep going.
~

You flick the switch in one of the holes and continue.

The next few rooms are easy, though there’s a bee looking monster with horns in the last room you can talk to.

~
“The previous rooms said this was simply a rotation in perspective, but all I see is that the switches and pillars switch spots, the architect has no idea what perspective even is!”
After flicking the green switch
“Wait, was this a puzzle all along?! It seems the architect of this place was more clever than I thought… Though the spikes and pain in my feet should have tipped me off that something was awry in hindsight.”
~

The next room is changed though, the hallway to Toriel’s house is blocked off by massive thick vines lined with thorns that damage you upon interacting with them.

The only other room you can access is a small room and the overlook into the city, the froggit in the next room also has some unique dialogue.

~
Ribbit, ribbit.
(Toriel and a human like you went to the city and came back with some ingredients, but when I tried to follow, suddenly a wall of thorns blocked the way to her house! I wonder if she’ll be fine…)
~

You can go to the overlook and find a toy knife with sparkles on it, since interacting with it is mandatory.

~
*This knife gives the same feelings as the ribbon.
*What happened to the owner?
*Who were they?
*When did they fall?
*Did their story end?
*Or is it still going but not for long?
*How many people fell down here to die or be chained like the residents here?
*All of this is pointless, making friends isn't why you're down here, you aren't closer to your goal, quit wasting your precious time like some selfish child and just-

“Hello Mr Human!”
Tuffet walks into the room with a smile as you turn to look at her
“How are…”
"..."
“...Are you ok?”
*I’m fine.

“You look like you’re crying.”
*...

*Tuffet sits next to you, you didn’t even notice you were laying against the railing

“...I won’t pry, but since we’re officially friends, I want to at least try to cheer you up.”

“Here, I finished the design, I hope you like it because it’s the first art I made for someone else specifically.”

*You got the Spider Cloak

“...”

“I tried going to Toriel’s house but the way was blocked by thorns, since I don’t really have anything to cut through, so I was going to go into the city to see if there's anything sharp laying around to use.”

“...If you want you could probably join me?”
*...Okay.

“Alright then, get up, I know a thing or two about braving heights!”

You stand and she uses 5 of her arms to hold you close, using the other arm to shoot webbing and to hold onto

“Hold on tight Mr Human!”

“Actually, what's your name, it’d be weird if we didn’t know each other's names after being friends and all.”
*Hope.

“Nice to meetcha, I’m Tuffet.”

She repels down into the Empty City.

Enemy Codex:

This is where normal and unique enemies are logged to appear in the current area, after every chapter there will be dialogue options for battle as well as how to beat them. (Base game encounters will just have instructions to beat them and enemy reactions)

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Froggit Encounter
Flirting twice will cause the enemy to not attack or contribute to attacks anymore.
Flirt:
*You tell the Froggit that its precision in catching flies is incredible, it can’t understand you.
*You speak fluent frog to the Froggit, it seems touched that someone can finally understand it. (Sparable)
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Whimsun Encounter
Talk once to instantly spare it
Talk:
*You open your mouth to speak to the Whimsum, it fled as soon as it noticed it was in battle. (Auto Spared)
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Bonehead Encounter
Bonehead is a cartoonish skull with no lower jaw, but three triangle shaped teeth, in the right eye socket is an eye and no eyes in the other socket, in battles it takes a direct approach by either throwing the occasional bones when in group battles, or if by itself, doing crude attacks by just tossing slow homing bones from the corners of the box, or just dropping its head onto the box.
In order to spare, you only need to stare twice.
Observations:
*The name is self explanatory.
*You try not to think of skeleton puns, you fail spectacularly.
*Smells like calcium.
Using Check:
Bonehead: ATK - 6 DEF - 3
*Not a real skull, thankfully.
Dialogue during battle:
“*Skeleton noises*.”
“Yes I said skeleton noises out loud.”
“I have no-body to keep me company.”
Upon choosing any book options:
*Doesn’t seem to affect this monster…
*The monster doesn’t care.
*Try another option.
Make Eye Contact:
*You stare at the floating skull, it shivers.
*You glare at it, it feels extremely uncomfortable and floats away. (Sparable)
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Guardener Encounter
Guardener looks like a small cute golem made of purple stone wearing a small medieval helmet, a cloak that covers the armless side of its body, and an arm holding a small handheld trowel. Its head is a black orb with a glowing green slitted pupil, and its chest has an emerald core, vaguely looking like a Ponman from Deltarune with limbs. In group battles it takes on a supportive role by tangling its vines around the edges of the box, or having thorns overtake some of the bottom, but by itself it’ll prioritize denying space before finishing the bullet pattern by attacking with its trowel.
In order to spare, you need to Talk before using Smile.
Observations:
*Its actual body is the gemstone.
*It sharpens its trowel on its body.
*Your cloaks wave at each other, despite there being no wind.
Using Check:
Guardener: ATK - 4 DEF - 6
*Caring for the vines here.
Dialogue during battle:
“Crrrrskkk.”
“Kakrakle!”
“Kurkurkurkur…”
Upon choosing any book options:
*Doesn’t seem to affect this monster…
*The monster doesn’t care.
*Try another option.
Talk:
*You tell it that you don’t want to harm it, it warily keeps its eye on you.
*Words won’t reassure it anymore, try to be nice.
Smile:
*You smile at the golem, it seems content and continues trimming the vines. (Sparable)
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Golderfish Encounter
A golden insectoid monster with two long antennae, wide black eyes with white pupils, a thick body, and a tail that splits into 3 while connecting directly into its back. In group battles it spawns little insects that multiply in the battle box, making the fight more hectic, but in a battle against only it, it’ll use its tail to whip or drop gold blocks on you.
To spare it, you just use Personal Space and Smile.
Observations:
*Fool's gold.
*Bugging me.
*It has yet to blink while staring at me.
Check:
Golderfish: ATK - 3 DEF - 3
*Somehow made of solid gold, despite being a living monster.
Dialogue during battle:
“Screeee!”
“It’s fun making insectoid noises :3”
“I have a heart of gold! Yours is purple!”
Upon choosing any book options:
*Doesn’t seem to affect this monster…
*The monster doesn’t care.
*Try another option.
Personal Space:
*You step back from it as nice as you can, Golderfish looks like it's trying to force its enthusiastic nature now.
Smile:
*You smile and explain to them that you just have a phobia of bugs, Golderfish seems to understand and smile genuinely now.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Scunge Encounter
Scunge would be a small shadow-like monster with a patchwork cloak covering its shadowy appendages, its head is uncovered and rabbit shaped, with a cat face look among its shadowy features, at the bottom of its cloak are multiple shadow claws. During group battles it can cause multiple effects that make it hard to see or notice the edges of the box to allow bullet patterns to catch you unawares, in normal solo battles the monster can use a plethora of shadow claws, make you go through a maze with limited sight, and other darkness gimmicks to make it hard to fight. This monster can only be encountered by interacting with signs too much.
In order to beat this monster you need to use Flirt and Smile consecutively, any other action will just make the battle take longer.
Observations:
*They got tired of me reading signs over and over.
*Scunge picks up the broken shards of the sign and eats them.
*Smells dusty, somehow.
Check: Scunge ATK - 5 DEF - 1
*A raggedy rag doll that occasionally ragdolls
Upon choosing any book options:
*Doesn’t seem to affect this monster…
*The monster doesn’t care.
*Try another option.
Flirt:
*You tell it that it’s adorable, it denies what you said.
Observation after:
*It seems to have a black blush, of course, it blends into its body so you can’t see it.
Smile:
*You reassure Scunge that it is adorable, it covers its white glowing face with its shadow hands and smiles wider.
