Work Text:
1.
The first time Tim leaves a sticky note from Lucy is right after he comes over and makes all the food for her. She wakes up on the sofa, and hears a soft crunch. She looks down and sees a yellow post it in Tim’s neat handwriting.
Lucy,
I hope you got some rest. Enjoy the food. And call me when you can
Tim.
Lucy smiles at the note and runs her fingers down it and traces his name. She vaguely remembers Tim being here. She vaguely remembers sitting down with a chocolate croissant and then closing her eyes. She doesn’t remember anything after that though and she feels a wave of guilt rise up in her.
Tim wanted to talk and he started to but she fell asleep. She just had been so tired and she felt like she was going to fall over from how tired she was.
She reaches over to grab her phone, and presses Tim’s name. He answers on the first ring and she sighs in relief.
“Hey.” He says. “Did you get any sleep?” Lucy sighs and looks towards her bedroom where her bed awaits her.
“I guess.” She says. “I just wanted to thank you for all the food. You didn’t have to do that.” There’s a long silence on the phone and she almost thinks he hung up when he speaks again his voice softer this time.
“Do you think we can carve out some time to meet up?” He asks. “I understand if you don’t want to or you are too tired.” Lucy shakes her head forgetting Tim couldn’t see her.
“Of course.” She says. “It’s my day off—do you want to meet after you get off?” There’s another silence but it’s shorter this time.
“Yes.” Tim says. “Do you want me to come over or—” Lucy grabs a pillow and pulls it onto her lap.
“That’s fine.”
“Okay.” Tim says and he sounds relieved. “I will see you then.” Lucy smiles as she tells him bye and they hang up.
She gets up and heads to her bedroom to change and then comes back out and starts pulling out some of the food Tim had made.
He really was amazing, and he always would put her before himself. Every single day. No matter what the circumstances were.
And she thinks she loves him even more for it. She just wishes she had the nerve to tell him, she loves him still—she never stopped and that was why everything was difficult. Because no matter how hard it was and despite what happened. She loved him. She tried not to but it was impossible.
And she knows whatever they talk about— it could be the start of something good. It could be the start of their new beginnings.

Tim stands at Lucy’s door and raises his fist to knock on it. Lucy answers right away like she was standing by the door.
“Hi.” She says stepping aside to let him in. He steps inside and it’s amazing that this apartment still feels so familiar. It feels like home but maybe because Lucy was here.
“Hi.” He says. “You look more rested.” Lucy laughs and a little and he follows her to the living room.
“I am.” She says. “It’s nice to have a day off and catch up on sleep.” Tim huffs out a laugh as they both sit down on the sofa. She turns to face him, and puts her legs underneath her.
“So…” She says. “You said you wanted to talk.”
“I did.” Tim says. “I know how tired you were earlier and I didn’t want to wake you.”
“You’re sweet.” She says. “Thank you for everything.” Tim nods and there’s a stretch of silence. He knows he needs to get this out before something could interrupt them again.
“Listen.” He says. “I was thinking of everything we have been through. The good, the bad and the ugly. And I know I messed up but I am trying to fix that broken part of me.”
“I know you are.” Lucy says softly. “I’m proud of you.”
“Right.” Tim says. “I let you down and I never meant for that to happen. I do want you to know I will never hurt you like that again. Believe me. You can trust me. I’m not going to let you go. And I’m sorry for doing it in the first place.”
Lucy blinks at him, and then she leans forward. “Tim, I already forgiven you. You don’t have to apologize.”
“I want to.” He says and he’s determined to get this all out. “I don’t want to pressure you. I never would. We can go at your pace.”
“Okay.” Lucy says slowly. “What are you saying Tim?”
“I want to give us a real shot.” He says. “If and when we get back together—I want us to be solid. I want this to be permanent.”
Lucy taps her fingers on her legs. “Okay. What does that mean?” She asks.
“I think you should move in with me.” He says and he hopes it works this time. He hopes they can have a conversation and it ends up with Lucy in his house—permanently.
“You want me to—” Lucy pauses as she looks at him incredulously. “You want me to move in with you?”
“Yes.”
“You aren’t punking me?” She asks. Tim raises his eyebrows at her, and maybe he really is a boomer.
“I don’t even know what that means but no.” He says. “I want us. I want you. And I think this would give us another chance.”
“Tim—” Lucy says her voice soft. Tim doesn’t look away from her but he’s nervous. What if he pushed her too far?
“It’s okay if you say no Luce.” He says. “I understand.” But Lucy shakes her head and scoots closer to him.
“Do you love me?” She asks. And suddenly he feels like he’s under the truth serum again.
“Yes.” He says. “Of course I do. Do you love me?” Lucy bites her lip and leans forward.
“Yes.” She says. “And yes I will move in with you.” Tim grins me pulls her closer and for the first time in awhile he kisses her. She melts into him and it’s like everything it’s fitting into place.
“Good.” He says. Lucy grins at him and kisses the tip of his nose. She pulls back and studies him, and he can’t believe he’s holding his whole world in his arms again.
“I love you.” She says.
“I love you too.”
***
Lucy wakes up in her bed and reaches for Tim. She remembers they both got tired and he fell asleep in her bed. But he’s not there, she does however find a sticky note. She sits up and reads:
I went out for a bit. I will be back. I love you. I can’t wait for you to move in with me.
Tim.
Lucy smiles and falls back down on her pillows feeling giddy. She really thought last night was a dream or a hallucination or something.
But it wasn’t—
She was moving in with Tim and they were getting back on track and she’s not sure how it could get better than that.

2.
The second time Tim leaves a note for Lucy is just after she moves in with him. She’s still getting used to the routine of being in Tim’s house full time but she doesn’t mind it at all. In fact, she loves it.
It’s peaceful and big and she has Tim and Kojo to love on. She is still in the night shift which is ideal but they make it work.
Lucy rolls out of bed, and she sees a sticky note on her bedside table. She had come home a little earlier this morning and fallen asleep right away with Tim still in bed next to her.
Lucy,
There’s leftovers in the fridge just heat them up. I love you and I will see you later.
Tim.
Lucy smiles at the note like she always does and makes her way to the kitchen. She opens the refrigerator and sure enough there is a container of leftovers.
She pulls them out and then goes back to the bedroom to get phone. She presses Tim’s name and once again he answers on the first ring.
“Hey.” He says. “How did you sleep?”
“Pretty good.” She says. “I forgot how comfortable your bed is.”
“You mean our bed?” Tim asks and she can practically see the smile on his face. “I mean you do live with me.”
“I do don’t I?” Lucy asks as she pulls the lid off the container. “Thanks for saving me food.”
“Of course.” Tim says. “Although I can’t wait till you are off this night shift so we can eat together.”
“Yeah me neither.” Lucy says softly. “I hope it ends soon.” Tim hums softly and hears some voices around him.
“I’m sure it will.” Tim says. “I have to go but get some rest okay?”
“Rodger that. I love you.” Lucy says. She hears the shop door close and then it start up.
“I love you too. I’ll see you later okay?” Tim says. Lucy smiles and hangs up, she puts the container in the microwave. She hates that she doesn’t get to see Tim all the time but knowing he’s looking out for her.
Even when it’s from a distance.
And she couldn’t be more grateful for that fact.
***
Tim walks out of the station when he see Lucy getting out of her car. She doesn’t look as tired as she did earlier this morning when she climbed into bed with him.
“Hey.” He says when she approaches him. “Clocking in?” Lucy sighs and nods her head. And he wishes she didn’t have to clock in, he wishes she could climb into his truck and come home with him.
“Sadly.” She says. “What are you going to do?” Tim steps closer to her and so does she.
“Probably watch the game and make dinner.” He says. “I might order in but there will be enough for you.”
Lucy smiles at him and looks around and then steps forward to kiss him. “I can get my own food Tim.” She says. He rubs at her shoulders before he steps back.
“I know.” He says. “But I love you and I want to do it.” Lucy nods and turns towards the station.
“I better go.” She says. “Have a good evening. I love you too. Tim smiles and she starts to walk away before he’s calling after her.
“Have a good shift.” He says. She pauses and turns towards face him a soft smile on her face and then she turns back around and disappears from sight. Tim continues to walk towards his truck and he misses Lucy like crazy when she’s at work especially now that she’s living with him but—
They would make it through this. They were stronger this time around.
And he knows when they did it would be worth it.

Lucy comes home to the house smelling like a bakery. She walks into the kitchen and sees a sticky note on the counter. She picks it up and reads: I got some of your favorites. Enjoy. I love you. Tim.
Lucy shakes her head, feeling so incredibly grateful for Tim. She picks up a chocolate croissant and takes a bite of it. She sits down on the stool and takes another bite. She couldn’t wait to be off the night shift, and enjoy a morning with Tim.
But for now this is perfect.

The next time Tim leaves Lucy a note is just after she finally gets off the night shift. She wakes up and Tim isn’t next to her. She feels around and there’s a sticky note on his pillow. She sits up and picks it up so she can read it:
Luce, I went for a run with Kojo. I know you needed sleep. I will be back soon. Love Tim.
Lucy smiles a little although she would have been down for a run. But Tim was right, she did need sleep and luckily today was her day off.
She hears the front door open, Kojo’s paws and Tim’s voice telling him to lay down and then—
“You’re up.” She looks up and sees Tim in the doorway. He has on shorts and a tight fitting shirt. He looks a little sweaty as he walks over to her side and presses a kiss to her forehead.
“Good run?” She asks. Tim nods and sits on the edge of the bed, he takes her hand and laces her fingers with his.
“I’m sorry I didn’t wake you but—” He squeezes her hand a little. “I know you needed sleep to catch up on sleep.”
“It’s okay.” She reassures him. “I appreciate you.” Tim nods and lets go of her hand before he’s standing up and walking to the bathroom. She gets up and follows him, standing at the doorway as he undresses.
“What are your plans for today?” He asks. His back is turned to her but he must know she’s there. She doesn’t answer right away, her eyes are focused on his back and the curve of his spine. He walks over and turns on the shower and then turns to face her.
“Luce?”
“Hmm.” She says stepping more into the bathroom. She strips off her shirt and shimmies out of her shorts before she’s stepping towards him.
“I asked you a question.” He says reaching for her. She goes to him, pressing her chest against his.
“What was it?”
“I forgot.” He mumbles. She backs him towards the shower and then he takes over once they are inside. He backs her against the wall and she looks up at him.
“I think it was something about my plans today.” She says. Tim lifts her up a little bit and tilts his head at her.
“And what are your plans?” He asks. Lucy grins at him and pulls him towards her to kiss him.
“You.” She says simply against his mouth. “My plans are you and—” She trails off because suddenly his hands are all over her.
Everywhere.
“Sounds good to me.” He mumbles softly pressing more into her. “I like those plans.” She laughs but it turns into a moan when his hand goes lower.
And this was going to be a very good morning indeed.
***
Tim rolls out of bed and walks into the kitchen only to find Lucy in there already. She looks over at him and her eyes are bright as she mixes something in a bowl. After their shower, they had both fallen back into bed and Tim thought Lucy would be out for hours but—
“I thought you were tired.” He says walking over to her. She pauses what she’s doing and leans against the counter.
“The shower woke me up.” She says stepping towards him. He pulls her in by her shirt and rests his forehead against hers.
“Really?” He asks raising his eyebrows. “That good huh?” Lucy rolls her eyes and pushes at her chest.
“Yeah.” She says. “And you are always making breakfast for me so—” Tim hums softly pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
“Thanks baby.” He says. She nods and continues to work, he stands there watching her. They had been living together for a few months and it was better than he could have even imagined. It was a little tough at first because he felt like he never saw her but—
She was off the night shift and they could wake up together and shower together. And he wouldn’t trade that for the world.
“If you keep staring at me like that I won’t ever get breakfast done.” She says. But he can’t help it, they worked so hard to get to this point.
To get back to this point and place.
“Sorry.” He says stepping more towards her. “I just love you.” Lucy gives him a look and then puts down the bowl she’s holding and stands on her toes to kiss him.
“Well you are lucky because I love you too.” She says. “But I need to finish breakfast and then you can—”
“Mmm.” Tim mutters. He wraps himself around her, putting his chin on her shoulder as she continues to work.
And he’s not sure how it gets better than this.
***
Lucy is just finishing up cleaning the bedroom when she finds a sticky note on her bedside table. She frowns and looks around for Tim but she knows he’s in the living room with the game on. She insisted that he go and relax awhile she cleaned up. It took some convincing because he wanted to help but he eventually relented and let her do it.
She looks down at the note and there’s three words on it: I love you.
Lucy’s heart swells as she looks at it and then glances towards the living room. She puts the sticky note down and walks out of the bedroom. Tim is on the couch his eyes on the TV and she leans over the top of the couch and wraps her arms around him. She doesn’t know what else to say to this amazing man who would do anything for her. Who would better himself because he’s Ted to be with her and he wanted to try again. She still so proud of all the work he has put in for not only her but for them and himself.
She can only utter three words right now because she’s still trying to find the right words to say to him but hopefully these would do for now.
“I love you too.”

The next time Tim leaves Lucy a note is after they get into a fight. It’s a silly little argument that somehow blew up into a full blown fight. She knows it wouldn’t be all sunshine and rainbows when they got back together. She knows they still have stuff to work on and they were doing okay. They were doing great but they were also both stubborn and Tim’s overwhelming need to protect her still came in strong.
Lucy wakes up alone in bed and Tim’s side is ice cold. There’s no indication that he was even there. There is no note, and his side is just empty. Her heart plummets and she falls back onto the pillow.
She reaches over to grab her phone to call him but it goes straight to voicemail.
This couldn’t be happening not again. He promised not to hurt her that way again.
He promised.
She rolls out of bed feeling frustrated and walks into the bathroom only to see a sticky note on her toothbrush holder. There’s two words in Tim’s handwriting: I’m sorry.
She picks it up, and tries not to let the tears spill out of her eyes. She goes back to the bedroom and tries Tim again and this time he answers. She can’t help but sigh and relief when his voice comes over the line.
“Lucy.” He says and he sounds rough. Her heart clenches a little because no matter how frustrated she is at him—she loves him.
“Where are you?” She asks softly. There’s a long silence over the phone and she grips it tightly hoping he doesn’t hang up on her.
“I’m on my way home.” He says. Lucy lets her shoulders relax almost immediately. “I’m sorry for disappearing Luce.”
“Just come home.” She says. “Please.” She hears him sighs softly, and she sits down on the edge of the bed.
“I’m on my way.” He reassures her. Lucy grabs one of the pillows and holds it to her breathing in Tim’s scent.
“Okay.” She mutters.
He’s coming home.
He’s coming home.
***
Tim walks through the door but the house is silent. He takes a step forward hoping he sees Lucy in the living room but it’s empty. He closes his eyes briefly hating that he might have made her leave.
Why would he do this again? Why would he just disappear? How could he do that to her again?
“Lucy?” He calls out. He goes back to the bedroom and sees her asleep in the bed curled around one of his pillows.
He goes around and presses a kiss to the side of her head. She stirs and rolls over opening her eyes slowly.
“Hi.” She says reaching for him. “You’re home.” Tim nods and sits on the edge of the bed.
“I’m sorry Lucy.” He says. Lucy sits up more and looks at him. “I didn’t mean to just disappear.”
“But you did.” She says. “It was a fight Tim. We are going to fight but that doesn’t mean you can run away from it. That’s almost as bad as not talking about it.”
“I know.” Tim says. “I’m so sorry Lucy. Old habits die hard.” Lucy sighs looking a little sad but also exasperated.
“I don’t expect you to be perfect Tim. I don’t expect your healing journey to be perfect. I just want you to talk to me. Even when it get hard. Even when we fight.”
“I know.” Tim says hanging his head. He felt bad the minute he walked out the door and then didn’t answer her phone call.
“I’m sorry too.” She says. “The fight got out of hand and we could have fixed it before it escalated. I guess I was frustrated.”
“You have no reason to apologize.” Tim says but Lucy shakes her head and grabs his hands.
“The only way to move forward is for both of us to realize what was done wrong.” She says. “We need to heal and grow together.”
Tim takes a deep breath and he realizes that they both have grown and healed since everything that has happened. He’s learned to open up and she’s learned to set boundaries and to be firm with him when he was about to shut down.
“I agree.” He says. “And I’m sorry.” Lucy smiles at him and scoots closer to him.
“Come here.” She says. He does and she wraps him in a hug. “I forgive you Tim. And I’m not going anywhere as long as you promise you aren’t going anywhere.”
Tim takes her hand and gives it a squeeze. He’s not always going to be perfect but he’s not walking away again and that’s something he can promise.
“I promise.” He says his voice full of conviction. “I promise.”
***
Lucy hums as she cleans the kitchen up and puts things away. Tim had taken Kojo out to use the bathroom and she took the opportunity to clean up. She opens a drawer and sees a sticky note with Tim’s handwriting on it. She takes it out of the drawer and reads:
Thank you. Thank you for loving me even when I don’t deserve it. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you. Tim.
Lucy takes the note and folds it up and puts it in her pocket. She knows it won’t be perfect and they will fight but she also knows it doesn’t have to be perfect for them to be happy.
She trusts Tim to know he’s not going to walk away and he’s going to fight for them.
And that’s something she can live with.

The next time Tim leaves a note for Lucy is when she least expects it. And it’s not just one note—it’s several.
She walks up to the front door and sees a sticky note on the door. She pulls it off and reads: I have a question for you.
She raises her eyebrows but opens the door only to find another note on the other side of it.
Come to the backyard.
She drops all her stuff and goes to the backyard where Kojo is laying in the sun but Tim is no where to be seen. She sees a note on one of the chairs and she goes over to pick it up.
Just wait…it will be worth it.
Lucy is even more confused and she looks around but Tim isn’t out here. “Tim?” She calls. “What’s going on?”
“Turn around.” A voice says behind her. Lucy turns quickly and sees Tim standing behind with his hands in his pockets and a smile on his face.
“Where did you come from?” She asks. “What’s going on?” Tim steps forward and so does Lucy but she keeps her eyes on Tim.
“You saw my first note?” He asks. She nods feeling more confused than ever.
“The one on the door.” She says and then she tries again. “Yes. What’s going on?” Tim just smiles at her and the he moves even closer and gets down on one knee. He pulls something out of his pocket and holds it in his hands.
Lucy just stares at unable to move or say anything. “Lucy, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know I messed up. And I almost lost you for good. I know I’m not perfect but you—” He pauses and Lucy steps forward some more. She can’t believe this is actually happening. “You always see the best in me. Never the worst. And I love you for it. I love every part of you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He leans forward and opens his hand revealing a small box. He opens it and she sees a beautiful diamond ring sitting in the middle.
“Will you marry me?”
She doesn’t even have to think of her answer. She falls to the ground and takes his face in her hands. “Yes.” She says her voice clear. “Yes I will marry you Tim.” Tim grins at her and slips the ring on her finger. And then pulls her up with him, he holds her close and she pulls back to admire the ring.
“You didn’t expect this did you?” He asks. She shakes her head and leans up to kiss him. She’s not sure how she thought Tim would propose to her but this was better than she could even imagine.
“It was perfect.” She says leaning in to kiss him. “You are amazing.” Tim kisses her and she feels nothing but joy as she pulls back to look at him.
The man she loves.
Her fiancé.
The love of her life.
And she gets him for the rest of her life. This was going to be so good.
So so good.
***
Tim lays in bed next to Lucy who is curled into his side. Her hand is on his chest and her engagement ring sparkles. He reaches out to run his finger across the diamond he spent hours picking out because he knew it had to be perfect and it had to be just for her.
“Hey.” Lucy says. “What are you thinking about?” He sighs softly and presses a kiss to the top of her head. He didn’t think he would propose the way he did, in fact he had something else planned but then he saw all the sticky notes he had written and Lucy had saved and it just clicked.
“We’re getting married.” He says. “We’re engaged.” He feels Lucy shift and then she’s looking up at him.
“Yeah we are.” She says. “Are you happy about it?” Tim nods and pulls her closer so she doesn’t stray.
“Absolutely.” He says. “And you?” Lucy takes a few seconds to answer and then when she does he feels his heart clench in the best way possible.
“I can’t wait to marry you.” She says without hesitation. “You did good you know.” Tim can’t help the smile that spreads across his face. He never thought he would get married again or have what he has been wanting for a long time come true.
He wants Lucy.
And only Lucy.
“This is the start of something new.” He says. “Us. Starting a family. I love you.” Lucy grins at him and leans forward to kiss him.
“It’s going to be amazing.” She agrees and then she kisses his nose. “I love you too.”
***
Lucy finds the next sticky note in the bathroom. It’s on the shower door because he knows it’s one of the places she goes every morning. She takes it off the door and looks around for Tim but he’s nowhere to be found.
And then she looks down at the note and reads: I can’t wait to marry you. I love you. Lucy sighs happily and holds the note in her hand wondering how she got so lucky. It wasn’t everyday that someone found their soulmate, their love and she was so lucky that she did in Tim.
“Hey.” Says a voice and she looks up to see Tim looking like he just came in from working out. There’s a soft smile on his face. “You got my note?”
“Never stop writing me notes.” She says because in all this time she never thought to talk about it with him. It just seemed to be second nature. “I love them.”
“Okay.” He says coming over and wrapping himself around her. He’s sweaty but she doesn’t care, chances are they would be getting in the shower anyway. “I promise. I’m glad you like them.”
“I like—I love you.” She says softly. “The notes are just an added bonus.” Tim grins at her, and bends down to kiss him.
“I love you.” He says. “And these are notes are only the beginning.”
“I agree.” She says and she can’t think of anything better than spending the rest of her life with Tim and recognition his little love notes. “I agree.”

Lucy writes Tim a note next, and she’s nervous as she bends over the sticky note. He’s in the bedroom finishing getting ready and her plan is to leave it on the counter. Her heart pounds as she writes the words down knowing he’s going to be surprised.
She was even surprised. She didn’t expect it at all and she just took the test on a whim. Nothing special except she had been feeling extra tired, craving weird things and she just felt off.
She hears Tim’s footsteps and she stands up straight before she walks over to the couch and curls up on it.
“Hey.” He says and she looks over the top of the couch and sees he’s halfway into the kitchen. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.” She says trying to sound casual. He’s so close to the note but knowing him he probably wouldn’t notice right away.
She lays back down and tries to track his movements by his footsteps. “What are you—” He stops short and she knows he has seen the note.
“What?” She asks innocently. There’s a stretch of silence and then he’s suddenly standing in front of her holding the note in his hand like it’s a delicate flower.
“Lucy.” He says and she sits up when she realizes his voice is shaking. “What—are you?” She stands up and makes her way over to him.
“I’m pregnant.” She says. She pulls the test and the ultrasound out of her pocket and presses it into his hands. “You’re going to be a dad Tim.” Tim stares at the items in his hands, looking stunned and then he finally look up at Lucy.
“You’re pregnant?”
“Yes.” She says smiling. “I am.”
“We’re having a baby?” He asks looking like he still can’t believe it. She taps the ultrasound and nods her head. There were tears starting to form in her eyes and she thought she wouldn’t cry.
“That’s our baby.” She says. Tim drops the note, the test, and the ultrasound on the couch and then wraps her up in a hug.
She feels him shaking and she’s not sure he’s crying until she tears his tears on her shoulder. “Oh my god.” He whispers. “We’re having a baby.” Lucy pulls back and looks at him. He looks absolutely ecstatic as a tear falls down his cheek. Lucy swipes at it and shakes her head feeling overwhelmed and relieved. She wasn’t sure how Tim was going to react, she knew kids were in the plans but they were still in their just married bliss.
“We’re having a baby.” She whispers. Tim looks like he could burst with happiness but he just kisses her instead.
We are having a baby. They were having baby.
***
Tim stares at the ultrasound on the refrigerator and then over at his wife who is curled up on the couch. He runs his finger over the picture and traces it with his finger. He still can’t believe it. He always knew he wanted kids and to actually be able to have one.
With the woman he loves.
He walks over to the couch and presses a kiss to the top of her head. She looks up and smiles when she sees him.
“Hi.” She says and then pats a spot next to her. He goes around to join her, and she immediately curls up into him.
“How did you know to take the test?” He asks. Lucy shifts a little and there’s a long stretch of silence.
“It was on a whim.” She says. “And really I should have known. My period was late and it’s never late. So I went to buy a test and I didn’t think—” She shakes her head, and then looks up at him.
“I know it’s unexpected.” She whispers softly. “I know we talked but—”
“We both wants kids.” Tim says. “Right? So it doesn’t matter when it happens.”
“Right.” Lucy says softly. “I just didn’t realize it would be this quick.” Tim grins at her, and he is sure he looks smug.
“It’s not like we did anything to prevent it.” He says. Lucy rolls her eyes at him and then cuddles more into his side.
“True.” Lucy says. “I’m happy. Are you?” Tim sucks in a breath and Lucy chances a look at him. He looks stunned that she would even ask that.
“I am beyond happy.” He says. “You. This baby are my entire world.”
“Good.” She says. “I just—thank you.” Tim shifts a little and rests his chin on top of her head. In 7 months they would have a baby in their arms all cuddled up together and he couldn’t wait. He thought proposing and marrying Lucy would be the best days of his life but this—just knowing they are going to have a baby to love and cherish is more than enough for him.
And it always would be.
***
Lucy finds the next note on her pillow as she’s getting into bed. She glances towards the bathroom where Tim is still getting ready for bed. She’s not sure how he’s able to write these notes and leave them without her noticing but she loves it and him.
She reads the note and her heart swells a little more than it already has. Lucy, you are everything that I have ever wanted. This life we are creating is more than enough. I love you. Tim.
Lucy chews on her bottom lip and then puts the note aside, and she climbs into bed and waits for Tim to join her.
He comes out a few minutes later and crawls into bed next to her. “Hey.” He says pressing a kiss to the side of her head. “You got my note?” Lucy nods and turns to face him. She is so proud of both of them and how far they have come. They have overcome obstacles and the highs and lows. They held each other through it again and again.
Now they were married and having a baby. They were happy, and in love.
“You are more than enough too.” She says. “And this is just another chapter in our story.”
“The best one yet.” Tim says softly. Lucy hums in agreement—this was going to be their greatest adventure and she couldn’t wait to do it all with Tim.
