Chapter Text
Izuku groaned, feeling the floor beneath him, cold and solid.
“Note to self, let Fiver attempt to timeline travel after I leave the burrow.” He said, sitting up and rubbing his face.
He looked around the room and realized he didn't recognize where he was.
“Roaar?” He asked the open air, “Where are we?”
“I don't know.” The kwami admitted, looking around as well.
It wasn't that the place was wholly unfamiliar, in fact that was part of why It was so disconcerting. Because those were definitely his things, his posters, his figures, even his notebooks although a few were missing.
But this was definitely not his room.
The greenette stood up and went over to the window.
He recognized where they were immediately.
“UA?” He asked, looking at his school confused. “When did I get here? Why is my stuff here?”
He didn't even remember a building on this side of campus. Izuku hurried out of the room his stuff was apparently in, Roaar diving into his jacket as they went, and found he was in what appeared to be a dorm of some kind. Rooms with nametags of his classmates lined the walls.
An elevator took him to the bottom floor and he found- they looked like his class but also not. Something just rang differently about them.
“Ah Midoriya, good we were worried you had slept through your alarm.” Iida greeted, holding a cup of coffee.
But it couldn't be Iida, Iida had a scar on his cheek, one he'd refused to let anyone heal. From the night they fought Stain, almost unnoticeable to those who didn't know what to look for. A reminder of what happened when he couldn't tell anyone, Pollen had said.
“Where the hell am I?” Izuku said, shifting his weight into a defensive stance, eyes narrowing. The whole room went silent and all eyes turned to him.
“And where the fuck is my class?”

Izuku woke up in his bed, fluffed his hair with one hand and walked to the kitchen.
“Morning mom!” He chirped, seeing his mother making herself breakfast. “Anything interesting at work for today?”
“Nothing to report-” She said, turning to face him. “Izuku?”
He paused, wondering if he had something on his face, surely Tikki wouldn't have sharpied him right?
“What happened to your scar?” She asked cupping his cheeks as she peered at his face. “It's gone!”
“What scar?” He asked as she pulled up his sleeves to check his arms.
“Mama-doriya, can I have some cheese?” Came a sleepy voice and Izuku jumped as a kwami he had never seen before floated into the room. This one had large round gray ears and buck teeth.
A mouse kwami? Why was it here? How did it know mom?
The creature's pink eyes settled on Izuku and its eyes widened.
“Uh oh-”
+x+
Izuku had woken up sharply and immediately jumped to his feet, this wasn't his apartment- it was a room covered in All Might merch- stuff he would never have been able to have.
“Nooroo?” He asked, and his kwami emerged from his pocket, looking around.
“Izuku!?” Someone shouted and he spun around to meet the bright blue eyes of another kwami. “You found Nooroo!? How?!”
The kwami shot forward to embrace the lilac butterfly and Izuku stared confused.
Why on earth did he have the Ladybug kwami? He’d forgone that route early on back when the miraculous were just thoughts and fairytale.
A moment seemed to pass between the two ancient beings as Izuku took in his surroundings.
“Tikki, is it?” He asked, pulling open a wardrobe and finding an assortment of clothes and oddly enough a UA uniform.
“Oh my,” She said, putting a hand to her mouth. “You're not mine-”
+x+
“Please! I just want to know where I am!!!” Izuku yelled as a hero he'd never seen before threw spines that grew from their back at him.
Izuku narrowly dodged them by flipping midair.
He’d been rudely awakened in an apartment he didn't recognize. One second he'd been dozing between his partners for a movie marathon, the next he was surrounded by plants he didn’t own.
Mom was nowhere in sight, his phone was gone and he couldn’t figure out where Momo and Shoto had gone.
“Surrender Glasswing!” The hero, well he assumed hero, he supposed they could just be a very official looking villain.
“I don’t know what that is!” Izuku shouted back, flying as fast as his wings could carry him.
He needed to get back to school, if nothing else so this crazy guy couldn’t follow him.
When the gates of UA finally appeared Izuku narrowly avoided crash landing on the other side.
The gates themselves slammed shut, locking the hero out.
Izuku sighed in relief, staring at the sky and trying to catch his breath.
He relaxed a little more when Mr. Aizawa and Ms. Midnight appeared over him.
“I would like to start with none of that being my fault!” He began, seeing their stern expressions. “He just started chasing me.”
The two teachers shared a look, one that he couldn’t decipher, with his non-homeroom teacher reaching for her sleeve.
He had enough time to realize what Ms. Midnight was doing before the world went black.
+x+
Izuku was not in his dorm, neither the room nor the common area as he first assumed when realizing he had fallen asleep on a couch.
He’d promptly tipped over when he realized he was sprawled across two of his classmates, Yaoyorozu’s head resting on his chest and Todoroki’s legs sprawled across the two of them.
He screamed as he fell, hitting the floor with a thud which unsurprisingly woke the other two.
“Izuku?” Todoroki was the first to react, already snapped to full attention as soon as he’d yelled. “What’s wrong?”
Yaoyorozu was a little more groggy, but she looked around as if for danger.
“Ah haha!” Izuku said, turning red at the ears as the implication fully set in that he’d been sleeping in a pile with his classmates. “We are at your house!”
Now he realized he knew this place, he’d been to Yaoyorozu’s once for a study session with the whole class before finals.
“Yeah, movie night?” She narrowed her eyes, “are you feeling okay?”
“Just fine!” He said quickly, “We should get ready for school.”
The two shared a look and Izuku grabbed his backpack, which had a keychain he didn’t recognize on it, and ran into the bathroom to change.
He stared at himself in the mirror, and mentally checked what was wrong with this picture.
First, he woke up cuddling two of his classmates. Todoroki wasn’t the most physically affectionate, but sitting next to each other at least made enough sense. But he’d not so muched hugged Yaoyorozu before.
Second, apparently the two of them had been invited for movie night.
Third, his bag was different, he couldn’t think of why he’d have so many juice boxes or sweets in plastic bags. His hand weights and cream he used for his scars had vanished, and there was a purple charm on one of the straps that he’d never seen. It wasn’t the kind of thing he’d usually have.
Fourth, his uniform was too small! It was tighter around his arms than he’d ever had before!
Had he forgotten something?
“Hey guys-” He stepped out and froze. There were two small things that looked like little bugs staring at him. “AGH!”
He screamed and slammed the door shut.
“Izuku?!” His classmates said, bangining on the door. “What’s wrong?! Are you alright?”
“What on earth are those?!?!” he shouted back.
The yellow bug thing stuck her head through the door, like through the wood.
“Oh- oh my. Tikki, could I get your opinion on this?”
The red thing also phased through the door. “Hmm- that’s certainly odd.”
“What are you?” The teen shouted, holding the door shut and having to use his quirk since the others were pounding so hard on it.
“I’m sorry to have startled you, but we are kwami.” the red thing- Tikki explained. “And you are not from this world.”
Notes:
Oh uh- heads up. Izanagi-Izuku is from a world where Quirks don't exist, so he's super out of his element. I haven't actually written anything for him, just done art.
Also for clarity, I'm gonna start referring to all the Izuku's by their hero names. So spoilers for B,B,&B ahead, just for Izuku's name though.
Chapter Text
Izuku held his stance while facing the strangers with his friends' faces.
It occurred to him he wasn’t transformed, and he didn’t know if these not-friends were packing quirks.
Several people were asking him what was wrong, one blonde in particular narrowed his eyes back at him.
“What the fuck is your deal Deku?”
“Shut the hell up!” Izuku snapped back, and everyone visibly reeled back. “You don’t get to call me that- no one gets to call me that!”
Even Bakugou had conceded after Izuku nearly ripped his head off about it.
Like hell he was letting this copycat do it.
“Now answer me- the games over I’m already clued in so where am I and who the fuck are you!?!”
They all shared looks and Izuku waited ‘til most eyes were off of him before glancing around the room.
Without hesitation he dove out of the nearest window, glass shattering and catching his hands and arms which he’d brought up to cover his face.
There was screaming behind him as he rolled to his feet and started running.
It certainly looked like UA, the terrain was familiar as he began sprinting to the nearest wall to get out of here.
But UA didn’t have anything out here but outdoor training grounds and running paths for the other courses phys-ed classes.
“Izuku!” Roaar shouted, flying alongside him. “What’s happening?”
“I don’t know!” He shouted, jumping down a small dropoff and skidding. He could hear people following him. “They look like my friends- but wrong?”
Roaar’s eyes widened and she stopped.
“What- Roaar?!” He yelled, following her as she flew back the way they came. “Come back!”
Izuku followed her to find her looking at a Not-Toshinori and a few other not-teachers and students clearly looking for them.
“Roaar!” Izuku reached out to grab his kwami. “Get back here!”
“Young Midoriya, what's wrong?” The blonde asked, looking between the teen and kwami. “Your classmates said you jumped out a window and what on earth is that?!”
“You don’t know me,” the kwami stared at him, it wasn’t a question.
“Of course you wouldn’t know, the real Toshinori would recognize her, he’s known her for as long as he’s known me!” Izuku laughed maniacally. “Now someone better start answering questions before I blast this place to kingdom come, you hear me?!”
“Izuku, think about it.” Roaar floated over to him. “Fiver was investigating the timelines closest to ours. There are so many different things that could happen but only a few ever take hold. It’s the rabbit’s job to oversee them and keep their branches from crashing into others. That’s why there is only ever one rabbit for a timeline at any given moment!”
He thought about what she was implying, “You have two of the same things in one world-”
“They either fuse or vanish.” Roaar nodded. “These people are the real thing, just not-”
“Not mine…” Izuku slackened his stance as a weight crashed onto him. “I’m in the wrong timeline.”
+x+
Midoriya had calmed down, eyes growing distant though unlike usual, he hadn’t said anything. The only sound that left his mouth was the occasional humm or single strangled note.
The magenta-toy- thing had followed them as they herded the greenette to Recovery Girl to figure out what was wrong with him.
Because- alternate timelines? Really?
“I guess it makes sense-” Young Kaminari had voiced, trying to turn the tone more humorous. “I mean, no way Midoriya would ever yell at Bakugou like that right?”
Midoriya was very hesitant to touch anyone or anything. If anyone got to close he’d jump back like he was about to be burned.
It was uncomfortable.
Recovery Girl ran a few tests, all the ones she could without touching the teen at least, and there was no evidence of him being currently injured outside of the cuts he’d gotten from his escape attempt. Which he also refused to let be healed and insisted on cleaning and wrapping himself.
Key word being current, at Midoriya had doubled the number of scars on his body, including one runnin from his jaw up past his mouth.
He wasn’t talking to any of them, only the magenta thing.
The conclusion would be that this was the cause of his panic. But she seemed entirely docile, and insisted Midoriya trust them.
When one person tried to lock her out of a room, the thing– Roaar she called herself, just phased through like the door wasn’t there.
The teen didn’t really react to anything or anyone until Togata thought to bring Eri in to see him, whose eyes widened to the size of saucers at the sight of his blood soaked sleeves and the tweezers sitting on bloodied gauze pads.
“Oh!” Izuku jolted like he’d been shocked. “Eri! You’re here!”
“Are you okay?” She asked quietly, padding over to see for herself what had caused the damage and wrinkling her nose at the small pile of glass in a petri dish.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” He shook his head and tied off the last bandage. “Are you okay?”
“Yes?” She looked at him like he was something foreign. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I guess I just didn’t know if they had gotten you.” Izuku said, before mumbling in english. “What have I been doing here?”
He tossed the bloody gauze into the trash and kneeled down. “I’m sorry, I guess you haven’t met me yet, not me me I mean, no one here has. Sorry that’s confusing, well- actually maybe it isn’t, the Eri where I’m from talks like that all the time. I blame Togata, not my Mirio or yours though, he's only just started, but older Togata. Sorry I’m losing the thread here.”
He stood back up, smiled, and walked out the door.
“He’s processing.” Roaar told them both, and followed him out.
+x+
Izuku found a cluster of people in the hall, all talking in hushed voices.
“Deku!” Uraraka ran over to him and Izuku felt his smile fall into a grimace as he leaned away. She reeled at the depression. “What happened? Are you feeling better?”
“No, not yet but I will, after I skin a rabbit that is.” The last bit he said under his breath. He saw that most of the people he recognized, teachers and students alike were all looking at him. “Okay so- I’m not Izuku Midoriya, not your’s at least. He might be with my people, not sure but probably. Really sorry about this, I am gonna kill Fiver for this mess.”
He looked at this world's Togata, “I don’t blame you though.”
He let Roaar rest on his shoulder.
“Put simply, In the world I’m from things are different, evidently very different if some of you don’t know who or what Roaar is. I’m gonna get to work trying to flag down my team to set this right.” He stepped past them- or tried to.
Mr. Aizawa stopped him, “No so fast. You’ve got something wrong with your head Midoriya.”
“What else is new?” Izuku asked, side stepping the other worlds version of his teacher.
A familiar gray wrap stopped him and Izuku grunted and stilled.
“We’re gonna get you help but it'd be better if you didn’t fight us on this!” He continued and Izuku sighed.
“Ya know, I really hope my world is more welcoming. Though I guess all the important people would have more insight.” He said, shifting his weight and launching his teacher forward who wasn’t expecting the move, with grace that he could tell shocked the room, Izuku slid free of the capture weapon like it was barely there. “Huh, I guess your Izuku doesn't know how to do that?”
He strode forward again to get space, though it was obvious the collective ground was preparing to stop him.
“You taught me that, not you but my you. Look- how about I prove it?” He glanced at the kwami on his shoulder who purred and nodded. “Roaar, Stripes on.”
There was a visible reaction as his transformation sparked.
“Go ahead, cancel my quirk.” He offered to Aizawa who was standing steady and weapon ready again.
Clearly too curious to not, the eyes flashed red and hair rose up.
Izuku let his power flow to the tips of his fingers. “Outbreak-” He pressed his pointer finger to a door sign and the plastic warped and exploded, thankfully not hitting anyone. “See, no quirk. Can’t do that here I assume? So anyway, I’ll come find you after I call for Fiver. I gotta let him know his execution date and all.”
+x+
Izuku had quickly scaled the building, sitting on the edge with his feet kicking as he retrieved his bolas and opened it.
“Okay- better call Lis first, she’ll gather the troops.” He dialed his oldest friend and waited. He let it ring far past when he’d normally bother as his heart sank.
When it was clear that no one would pick up, he tried to call Fiver directly. Surely the miraculous that got him into this mess would be able to reach him here?
It rang and rang, but no answer. When the voicemail option finally called out, Izuku left a message.
He called again, maybe Mirio wasn’t transformed and couldn’t pick up? Fluff would be able to tell him and now he would answer, right?
Voicemail.
He didn't leave a message, just called again.
Voicemail.
His heart rate spiked as he repeated his message, this time more urgent.
“Please-” He felt his hands shake, “Please pick up.”
Voicemail.
He stopped and called his Mom, first as Kitsune-ame, then her cell.
Voicemail. Error.
Toshinori.
Error.
He tried every member of his team. Leaving messages, they started informative but slowly devolved as he felt tears bubble up in his eyes.
He called Fiver again, repeating the same thing over and over.
He laughed when he realized he’d placed a hundred calls.
He called Fiver one more time.
+x+
“Lis, It’s me. Something went wrong in the burrow and I got misplaced. Go strangle Fiver for me, but don’t kill him. He’s still gotta come get me and then I’m gonna ring his neck. Feel free to tell him I said that.”
“Fiver, the burrow dropped me in the wrong world, this one doesn’t seem to have miraculous. I’m waiting in this world’s UA, you should probably go see if their Midoriya is in our world. Hurry, this place freaks me out, and I need to murder you for this soon.”
“Mirio, pick up! That blast knocked me into a different timeline and it’s kinda hard to kill you from here. I think you may have gotten this world’s me, so better find him before he does something I would absolutely do. I’m waiting here at their UA, call me back or just come get me, I’m not picky about which.”
“Hey Mom, there was an accident in the burrow and-”
“Mom, I’m in the wrong world, I’m okay but I’d like to come back-”
“Toshi, Fiver and I were testing the rabbit and I got lost-”
“Oto-hime, I’m kind of in the wrong timeline right now- you're in charge of the other temps while I’m gone, Fiver and Buckrider should be trying to get me back.”
“Bumblebee, we made a mistake with the miraculous and-”
“Piper, if you can hear this-”
“Mirio, where are you? Are you guys gonna come get me? I’d really like to know what the fuck is going on?”
“I’m lost Five- Mirio, I’m in the wrong timeline. Can you hear me? The wrong-”
“I’m waiting at this world's UA, come get me. Call me back, do something!”
“I’m lost, no one is picking up-”
“Mirio, call me!”
“Please come get me-”
“I’m lost.”
“Guys *sob* guys, I’m uh- I’m in the wrong world. I could really use a pick up, I’m here, waiting. *sniff* I really don’t want to be lost here. Please come find me.”
+x+
The sun had set when he’d sent the last message.
He sighed, not wanting to go back down, he let his transformation fall away and leaned backwards to lie flat on the roof, feet still dangling off the side.
Roaar looked at him sympathetically, nestling herself in his hand to encourage him to stroke her fur. Izuku did so, quietly laughing between his tears hitting the roof.
Maybe, if this had been intentional, if he’d been able to contact home, he might find the opportunity to explore this other world fun. But instead he felt very much like a guy trapped on an island in the middle of the ocean.
Because really- he was. Trapped that is.
He was surrounded by strangers and had no idea when anyone would come for him- if anyone was coming for him…
Instinct had him rolling away from the edge and into a crouch when he heard the door to the roof jostle and then click.
Uraraka, this world’s Uraraka at least, was peeking out looking nervous.
“Oh,” He relaxed marginally. “Hey. Did they send you up here to make me come down.”
“No,” She said quietly, apparently taking his reaction as permission to step onto the roof. “Well, they did send me up here, the class- my class, but not to make you come down.”
He snorted and sat back down, spinning to face out over the edge again.
“Do you guys still not believe me?” He asked, not looking at her.
“No, we’re kinda running off the assumption you’re telling the truth. As impossible as it sounds, it's the only answer anyone has come up with that makes a modicum of sense.” The brunette sat down a few feet from him. “If- if you are actually from a different world, did Deku ended up there?”
He grimaced again and shrugged, “I don’t know actually, I was brought here by accident. He could be in my timeline, or he could be in a totally different one. Or maybe he’s just sitting in the Burrow. But I do know as soon as my friends figure out I’m gone they won’t rest ‘til it’s set right. I’ll be out of your hair regardless though, I can’t stay here if no one is coming.”
“Why not?” She raised an eyebrow, “We don’t want you to just leave!”
Izuku looked at her confused, “Why not? We aren’t friends, that’s pretty obvious.”
Uraraka seemed taken aback, “Well- no the two of us aren’t friends but I’d-”
“No, your version of me .” The greenette clarified. “If you don’t get along with him I doubt any of you will be able to tolerate me.”
“Of course Deku is my friend!” She snapped, “He’s my best friend! Fuck, I probably owe him my life! What makes you think- what the hell-?”
Izuku narrowed his eyes at her, suspecting this had to be a trick because surely the other option is absurd. Sure weirder things had happened but that didn’t throw all logic out the window. “Then why do you call him Deku and not by his name?”
Uraraka’s eyebrows pinched together and her mouth opened slightly, a face he recognized as her trying to puzzle something out.
“That’s what I’ve always called him, it’s his nickname!” She insisted.
Izuku shook his head, “Yeah a nickname given to us, both of us, by our childhood tormentor! He must have told you what it meant? If not, Bakguou definitely did!”
She conceded that and nodded, she did remember what Izuku said the name meant.
“Useless, Defenseless Izuku, Nothing.” Izuku said, feeling anger rise through him and redden his face as he huffed, “Last I checked that’s not a friendly way to refer to someone.”
“He said- he told me to call him that on the first day of school. Right after he told us what it meant.” Uraraka explained, hoping to clarify it wasn’t just her being an ass. “I thought- I thought it was like Dekiru, ya know, “You can do it.””
The greenette narrowed his eyes again, “Then why didn’t you just call him Dekiru? If you knew the connotation was bad, then why use it?”
She didn’t have an answer for that, “He chose it as his hero name.”
Izuku wondered how different things must have been for this version of him; he couldn't even have enough self-respect to ask his friends not to call him a borderline slur.
Knowing that blaming Uraraka for another him’s bad choices was futile, instead he stuck out his hand.
“Hi, I’m Izuku Midoriya, but you can call me Pan.” He said and she shook it.
“Ochako Uraraka.”
With that settled, Izuku stood up and stretched, Roaar smiling from her spot under his chin.
“Right, better go talk to the adults, figure out what to do until Fiver calls me back.”
+x+
In another world,a group of people sat around a table, watching message after message pour into their phones.
“I’m Lost-” “Come Find Me- “ “Please-” “I’m Lost”
A boy with the same voice and near identical face sat curled up on the couch, listening to a family so unlike his own fall apart.
Notes:
Yo, Pan's about to be hyper critical of cannon and Cannon. Which makes sense, since TGH is the place I complain about cannon the most.
Togata's foolproof plan of, 'Bring the smol child to see him and hope he chills out!" Though to be fair, it works. Izuku's really picking up on Fiver's nonsense speak, confusing literally everyone.
Next up- Izanagi in TGH
Chapter 3: Strange Beetle in a Strange World
Chapter Text
Izuku sat with his knees to his chest and listened to the other version of his mom break down. His own voice echoing through their phones, a hundred messages ranging from informative to panic to heartbreaking.
He didn’t know what to do, after Tikki realized he was in the wrong world, the other Mom had called a few people.
One was Mr. Yagi, and Izuku had no idea why this version of him was closer with the teacher than in his home world, but apparently they were well enough acquainted him showing up at the apartment wasn’t weird.
The second was Mellissa Shield, apparently they’d been introduced way younger in this world. Izuku only knew her vaguely from school which also confused the group since apparently she still lived with her dad here.
The last was Togata, apparently rounding out the group as the newest miraculous holder and the one responsible for this mess.
Though it was made abundantly clear that this was an accident.
“Are you okay?” Tikki asked, settling on his shoulder.
Other kwami kept floating in and out, that was another weird thing, apparently he was guardian here, not All Might.
“I’m trying to think of anything to help.” He whispered, “It’s weird, seeing people I know so upset. Missing me. When I’m right here.”
“I understand,” She nodded, “I only know some of what the other world’s hold. My counterpart is your kwami partner, correct?”
“Yeah, I was wondering- if we transformed and I used the Miracle cure, would it send us home?” The greenette asked.
The kwami seemed to consider his idea, but didn’t look hopeful, “My Miracle cure is designed for this world. Perhaps it would send you home, but I can’t be sure it would bring our Izuku home. And if you leave-”
“You lose the one connection to finding him.” He conceded.
Truth be told, he wasn’t as panicked as maybe he should be. Sure he was trapped in another world with strangers wearing his friends faces and one of the most important people in the world MIA. But the people best equipped to fix it were here with me.
Izuku found the remote and turned on the TV.
Nooroo was here too, that was another odd thing. He apparently had never been lost, and subsequently wasn’t being used for evil.
The lilac kwami was resting on the back of the couch and watching the TV with him.
Of course the weirdest thing about this world became more apparent every second.
Namely, that everyone had super powers! It was freaky, seeing a man on the news with antlers explain the weather, or a woman who could grow ten stories saving a bridge from collapsing.
But if there was a universal constant it was: Where there is power, there are people who abuse it.
A villain attack was taking place in town, one the other heroes were struggling with.
“Tikki if this world’s Izuku is missing they’re gonna need someone to fill in.” He told the kwami. “They have way more villains here, and these guys need to focus.”
She considered his offer, “Alright, but it’s even more paramount you not get caught. Vigilantism is doubly illegal here, and our Izuku will face the consequences. And no one may know you’re from another world.”
The greenette nodded, and ushered the red kwami into a bag that looked like his.
He slipped out without the others realizing, both because they were busy and because he was really good at leaving without mom noticing.
+x+
Melissa rubbed her face in frustration, this was a clusterfuck and a half.
Izuku was missing and they had no idea what had happened or how to get him back.
And what’s worse, he wasn’t even in the same world the Izuku they’d gotten was from. Which meant more of them were probably mixed up too.
Auntie Inko couldn’t stop crying for more than a few minutes. So scared for her son.
Uncle-Might was keeping it together, but if you really looked at his face you could see the cracks in the mask.
Mirio was horribly rattled, he was blaming himself and was rapidly losing his confidence in just about everything. Which was bad because he was their best bet at getting their boy home.
When the blonde stepped into the living room to address their resident misplaced misplaced, she found the living room startlingly lacking greenette teenagers.
Melissa looked around again, surely she was just missing him? She checked the bathroom, Izuku’s room, even the guest room.
No Izuku’s to be seen.
The TV was still on, displaying a large villain that the heroes were struggling to pin down.
“-continues to cause damages to the shopping district! Heroes have thus far been unable to- Woah! Who is that?!”
A red blur had appeared, wrapping a wire around the raging villains raised fist and launching themself into the criminals face with a sickening crack.
“Yeesh- first day here and I’m already seeing the sights. Granted a rather ugly one.”
“SHIIIIIT!!!” Mellisa yelled, “Guys! He did a runner! Full Gallop! ”
Kalkki vanished into the glasses and Mellisa was out the door, All Might hot and Fiver hot on her heels.
+x+
Izanagi landed happily on the ground. It was weird fighting someone who wasn’t an akuma, not that he’d never done so before. He’d fought casual criminals once or twice. But this guy was right in the middle.
He had powers, but no akuma.
Still, Izanagi rolled out of the way of another attack and called for his Lucky Charm .
A bag of marbles appeared in his hand.
He tucked them into the pocket of his belt while he figured out what to do with them.
This guy wasn’t nearly as intimidating as some of the akuma’s he’d faced. It seemed the main problem was that you couldn’t touch him. And all of the heroes had physical powers one way or another.
Izanagi hummed, and ran his finger down the front of his yoyo, “Lucky Break.”
The two carapace wings of the yoyo cover came apart and the string he’d normally used to zip around grew taught between them. A handle appeared at the bottom and now he had a slingshot fit for taking down giants.
The greenette looked around and quickly scaled a car to get better height, grabbing a marble from his pouch.
“Oi!” He shouted, turning the villain's attention back to him. “Nighty-night.”
He fired one of the marbles and it landed firmly between the villain's eyes. They crossed and he fell with a thud.
“Bulls-eye.” Izanagi grinned, he strode over to collect the fallen marble. “No akuma, so I guess we’ll just skip to- Miraculous Ladybug!”
He tossed the whole bag into the air and watched it explode into his familiar pink final power.
He used the heroes and news team's distractions at the repairs to slip away.
Once hidden away again, “Spots Off,” Izuku tucked Tikki away under his overshirt and found an ice cream stand to buy them both a treat.
When they were happily tucked away from view, the kwami popped out and devoured the vanilla cone slice that had been tucked into her food.
“Thank you Izuku.” She told him, “You did well, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised though.”
“It’s weird, talking to a Tikki who isn’t mine.” He sighed fondly, “And it’s weird hearing people call me Izuku when I know he’s someone else. You can call me Izanagi, if you want?”
“Is that your hero name?” She asked, using the tiny spoon, which was too cute, to snack on the sweet treat. “It’s lovely, How did you pick that?”
“I didn’t.” The teen admitted, “The first time I met my partner, I almost let my real name slip before she stopped me. But she still called me Iz, so I thought I needed a name to fit it.”
“Izanagi,” the kwami hummed, “What’s your partner's name?”
“Colo-cat.” He explained, “She’s awesome! Like, easily one of the smartest people I know.”
He missed his partner, usually if they didn’t have school or work after an attack, they’d be enjoying these treats together.
“She’s got like- an unwavering chill.” Izanagi continued, “Which is good, I think, because otherwise I’d probably have flown away by now. I get so in my head about things sometimes, not usually fights but like- normal life stuff that it gets in the way. Hay-maker and the others help too but they aren’t around as much.”
As they finished their treats, Izanagi heard a commotion again.
“More huh?” He said, “No rest for the wicked.”
He looked around to ensure he was out of view.
“Tikki, Spot’s on!”

Buckrider was trying not to tear her hair out. Apparently the concept of lying low was beyond this other Izuku.
Fiver hadn’t been able to catch a hold of his reflection in The Burrow, so he’d retreated to the apartment. All Might was around now, so thankfully a lot of villains had already scurried.
But that hadn’t stopped the brat from stopping 3 whole villain attacks!
They needed to find him, and fast.
Landing atop an empty roof, Buckrider pulled the horseshoe from his back and it split in half to a vaguely phone shaped form instead.
“Did you find him?” Mirio asked the second the line connected.
She sighed, “No dice. I can’t search an entire prefecture alone! Uncle Might keeps getting stopped. We need help, I’m coming back to grab my team, you keep looking for our boy.”
She just hoped she could hide exactly who they were hunting down.
+x+
Ochaco saw a portal open outside her apartment and quickly made an excuse to her parents about forgetting a study date.
Buckrider was standing in a tree.
“Oto-hime, we have a problem, a big one.” She said hurriedly, her hair was practically falling out of her ponytail and the skin under her eyes was red and puffy.
“O-okay, how can I help?” She asked, not sure what could possibly happen to shake the older heroine.
“Take this,” She held up the bracelet box for the brunette. “Listen carefully because I’ll need you to tell your teammates. The Guardian has uh- he was working with my partner and we sort of- lost him. He’s alive! As far as we know, anyways. But he landed in another timeline and we got a different one. He uses the Ladybug instead and has been running around fighting villains.”
With her galaxy bracelet back on her wrist, Ochako looked up at the heroine again.
“He’s-” she cut herself off.
She had only met The Guardian a few select times, but the idea of him simply vanishing. Even into another world. It sounded- impossible.
Though when miraculous were involved, ‘impossible’ was an untrustworthy word.
“We’ll get him back, we already know he’s figured it out and is waiting for us.” She hastened to reassure her. “He uh- he can’t call, and we can’t call him. But he can leave voicemails.”
She looked somewhat haunted at the mention.
“I’m dropping off the miraculous for the others, if you find him, call me.” She finished.
The horse miraculous holder vanished through another portal.
And Oto-hime opened her voicemail.
[Edit: Thought I'd drop Izanagi and Colo-cat's designs. Since they've only ever been on Tumblr]
Chapter 4: The Butterfly From Beyond
Chapter Text
Izuku smiled to himself, forgoing the uniform in exchange for a hoodie and sweats.
“I don’t understand how this could have happened!” Tikki said hastily. “The Guardian hasn’t even considered messing with alternate timelines! And my miraculous is gone with Izuku! My Izuku!”
He smiled over at the kwami, “If it would make you feel better to call me Glasswing feel free.”
She shuddered, “I know what you are.”
“And what am I?” Glasswing cooed over his shoulder as he changed.
“We kwami can always tell when one of ours is being misused.” Tikki sneered, and Glasswing chuckled at her.
Nooroo looked sheepish.
“Tikki please, My Izuku is not like yours. His motivations are- selfish. And he’s known to be as cruel as he is kind, and we’ve done things that make my stomach churn-” The lilac kwami cut himself off. “But his actions are not black and white. The world we are from has powers outside of the miraculous, nearly everyone possesses them. And there are many who use them to hurt others.”
Tikki narrowed her eyes at the greenette again but motioned for her alternate-timeline brethren to continue.
“One of them- has a terrible, twisted form of my power. He used it to hurt others, kill hundreds, and Izuku is one of his victims.”
The teen paused in his actions a moment but only stopped long enough to say, “Don’t make me too much of a martyr Nooroo, who knows what I’d be doing if he hadn’t made the mistake of pissing me off.”
“You can act however you want, I’ve seen your mind Izuku.” Nooroo smiled softly, fondly. “You understand violence better than love. But you have lines you have carved into every action and every thought. You won’t break them.”
He finished tying his sweat pants and kneeled down to look at the kwami who met his gaze fearlessly.
“You. I love you, you’re useful. I love my akuma’s because they are useful. I love my mom, so I’m going to be very very useful.”
Tikki watched the exchange with a barely contained shudder, but that last sentence had her pausing.
“And Eri?” Nooroo asked his holder.
Glasswing didn’t respond at first. “She’s part of the plan, isn’t she?”
“What about when you first saw her?” The kwami challenged. “What about the drawings on the fridge? The plant boxes and pressed flower crowns? What about taking her to visit your mother and offering her a place in your family? What about a scared little girl was so useful you risked everything just to save her?”
“Wait!” Tikki shouted, causing both to turn and look at her. “What about Midoriya’s mother? What happened to her?”
Glasswing stared at her, then he suddenly began limping towards the door to Izuku’s room.
“Do you have a cane here by chance?” Nooroo asked as they followed at a slower pace, careful to stay unseen.
“What for?” Tikki whispered back as they followed Glasswing.
What they saw had her stopping.
Glasswing was staring at Inko who hadn’t looked up from her efforts to tie her shoes.
“Oh good, you’re up.” She said, finally seeing the Izuku who was not her son and standing up.
Before another word could leave her mouth, Glasswing had hastened across the room and pulled Inko into a hug, hiding his face in your shoulder.
“Woah!” She jolted but didn’t hesitate to wrap her arms around her son. “Izuku, honey what’s wrong?”
The greenette didn’t respond, but Tikki could see the faint shaking in his entire frame.
Inko pulled him closer to her and began whispering, asking if something had happened at school or on the news that she didn’t know about. Trying to find ways to help the boy she thought was her son.
“Sorry-” Glasswing chuckled wetly, and when he pulled away from her shoulder, Tikki didn’t need to see his face to know he’d been crying. “I had a- bad dream.”
Inko ran a hand over his face, swiping away tears.
“You look awful Izuku.” She whispered, “Maybe- maybe you should stay home today? With all the akuma’s that happen around your school I’d feel safer if you stayed home if you aren't feeling well.”
“Yeah mom, I’ll do that.” He promised, pressing his head into the side of her hair as he hugged the woman again. “You- have a good day alright? Stay safe for me?”
She smiled fondly, “That’s my line.”
They split as the woman left and Glasswing stared at the door for a moment.
“If she’s still alive that means All for One isn’t torturing me, so that means there is a risk.” He said finally, “I have work to do. Consider it a gift Tikki, your holder’s world is about to get a lot safer.”

Yuga hated his job. Not just because he wasn’t paid, or because it was dangerous. Not even because everytime he came home he felt his lungs tighten, blood slow, and stomach churn.
He hated it because he had to look people in the eyes as their personhood was stripped away to its most basic emotions.
Today was no exception.
He was waiting for the akuma, he didn’t want to transform yet.
Maybe if he was lucky they could at least get this done without the need for an amuk.
Page Turner was, if he had to guess, a little too interested in fantasy novels. From the moment she’d shown up, she’s been gushing about how excited she was to live a dream.
He sighed as he transformed, skin turning blue and hair darkening to slate gray. If he didn’t know it was hiding weakening bones and failing organs, he’d probably like his suit more. He was practically reflective with how many rhinestones were sprinkled across the already glitter covered suit.
Diamant Bleu felt his lungs seize before he even stepped off the roof.
Today was the kind of day All for One just wanted to be an ass.
If he was having a bad day, no one else was allowed to enjoy it.
He should probably just be happy it’s not Toga.
When Page Turner first stepped into the spotlight, Diamant Bleu prepared to watch her back. He needed to be useful, he needed to stand in the hero's way.
Before he could even move, the akuma halted, grabbing her chest as if she'd just been struck.
“Page?” He asked, eye’s flicking to the police who had already arrived to try and slow them down. “Page!?”
With a shudder, dark smoke appeared over Page Turner’s body, and vanished right as the akuma left the book in her hand.
“What the- where-?” She looked up and saw him, her eyes widened in fear. “Agh!”
The fantasy novel in her hand was thrown at his head and Diamant made haste to get out of there.
What had happened? Did All for One change his mind? Did the heroes find a new power to cancel their abilities? What was-
“What are you running from, little bird?” Someone asked.
Diamant stopped blood turning icy.
“You’re not-”
“You’re right, I’m not who you're used to.” The new face- or rather the new mask- said, smiling behind a visage of wings and eyes that were looking at him. “I’m from another time, and another place. I’ve never met another miraculous holder before, so this is very enlightening. But I do have to wonder if they are so safe to use broken?”
Diamant’s hand rested over the broach he’d been forced to wear. Its cracked surface was still leaking unseen magic that made the world tilt at times.
“I’ll take that as a no then.” The butterfly cooed. “Maybe we can help each other then? I don’t like competition… So you help me out until it’s time to leave, and I kill the man forcing you to kill yourself for him?”
It was haunting, it was nightmarish.
It was about the only chance he had.
He stepped forward. “Who are you?”
“Glasswing, and you?” He extended a gloved hand.
“Diamant Bleu,” the teen shook the mystery butterfly's hand. “What did you have in mind?”
Chapter 5: The Secret of Papillon 13
Chapter Text
Izuku woke up, handcuffed to a chair in a room he did not recognize. His miraculous was gone, along with his knives, and Nooroo was nowhere to be seen.
The first thing he did was panic.
He had lost his miraculous, he had lost Nooroo! Ms. Amalie was going to kill him, who knows what would be done if it fell into the wrong hands?! Nooroo had already had two terrible holders, he could not become another link in the nightmare miraculous user chain!
That thought meant the second thing he did was start crying. Water soaked his collar as Izuku fought to keep his breathing under control.
He was the worst partner a kwami could have gotten!
Izuku pressed his head into the table in front of him and let the water pool on it while the cool metal assuaged the heat in his face.
‘Okay Izuku,’ he thought quickly. ‘Think. Think! Use that big brain of yours.’
Subtly he shimmied his hand in the cuff that was attached to the chair and realised exactly how loose it was. Izuku has slim wrists so- he just-
He hoped the table muffled his grunt of pain into a sob as he dislocated his thumb.
That would hurt him later, in fact it hurt now, good thing he was ambidextrous. Besides, Nooroo was more important than his thumb anyways.
With a glance around the room to confirm the only camera wouldn’t see what he’d done, Izuku slipped his wrist free. Face a perfect mask of sadness to hide the shots of pain sent though his hand.
He didn’t know if anyone was actively watching the camera, but there wasn’t the big window mirror thing they had in TV shows. Just a door, with a small window. It didn’t take a lot to guess it would be locked.
So instead, Izuku carefully moved so his good hand was on the chair, while rising slightly under the guise of hunching in on himself.
He was rewarded for his preparedness when the door opened and someone he didn’t recognize stepped in. The woman didn’t even have a second to react before Izuku threw the chair with all of his strength.
She screamed, and managed to get out of the way of it hitting her head, but taking the metal chair to the shoulder instead. Izuku didn’t wait to see if she was okay before grabbing the door and rushing out before slamming it behind him.
The lock automatically clicked.
Whoever had caught him had made a mistake, if he learned nothing else from Mr. Aizawa it was to not be a one trick papillon.
Seeing he was now in a short hallway, Izuku made haste to the only other door.
Mr. Present Mic was on the other side but Izuku wasn’t falling for that again! He must have run into a villain pretending to be his teachers, like Himiko Toga did to them all the time!
Hell this could be Toga for all he knew!
The blonde had just enough time for his eyes to widen while Izuku processed everything.
He immediately aimed for the throat, if they could mimic quirks he didn’t want to be on the receiving end of anything.
His not-teacher dodged, but Izuku only needed a fraction of space to get where he needed to be, before slamming his entire body weight backwards.
The Not-Present Mic had been moving forward to intercept him and therefore had no way to avoid getting body slammed into the partially open door. Again it locked as soon as he slammed it shut.
Izuku had enough time to hear the faker yell something about thinking someone was supposedly injured before he ran ahead.
The alarms were blaring now, someone had definitely seen him do that.
Other people would be coming!
Where was Nooroo?
Entering the stairwell alerted him to people coming up, so roof it was!
He scrambled upwards, barefoot since he’d been in his sleep clothes when he came to wherever this was.
Two flights of stairs- footsteps and shouting- voices he knew from people he didn’t!
The door was locked.
Izuku balled his injured hand and slammed his shoulder into the door, above the lock. Best not to cripple his other arm too if he didn’t have to.
A new jolt of pain flared up in his arm but the lock gave out and Izuku was stumbling out into the light.
Voices right behind him- heartrate in his ears- so close!
Ten steps to the edge, if he could get in the sky he’d be fine.
Three steps to the edge, Not-Mr. Aizawa was yelling at him to stop.
Leap-
No wings burst from his back to carry him away from danger.
Izuku fell.
+x+
Shouta was going to kill All Might for this.
Because after they found the intruder on campus, a teenager lying in the grass, the first thing they noticed was his similarities to a certain butterfly villain.
The wings were different, sure. But the hair, the build, cane, hell even the gloves were identical.
Either Glasswing had changed his looks, or he had a twin they’d never heard of.
While clearing him of the weapons on his person, which included a staggering amount of knives, someone had taken the liberty of removing a brooch on the teens vest.
The intent had been to ensure he would be unable to use it to escape or hurt someone, but the thing immediately glowed and with a flash the teen was now wearing pajamas.
A small purple light had shot out of the room but no one knew what it was or where it went.
What they did know is that All Might had recognized the boy.
Izuku Midoriya, emancipated from the foster system and functionally an orphan. And apparently a friend of the number one hero not that the teen knew.
His mother was currently comatose and receiving care at the Ryuusei Hospital, which was where the blonde had disappeared to. Seeing as it was the only potential lead they had. While the teens father was MIA and apparently, potentially didn’t even exist.
Records said that he too was injured by the accident that caused his mothers condition. So they had all been told to be very careful not to aggravate the boy’s injuries. Recovery Girl was digging out crutches from storage at All Might’s request.
“He’s a good kid.” He had insisted, “Been through hell but tries really hard to stay positive and help people anyway. As soon as he wakes up, I’m sure we’ll get an explanation.”
The fact he’d been running from minor pro hero Quill and appeared to be seeking refuge at UA, the place he knew his older friend worked, suggested that much was true.
The handcuff had been a formality.
Apparently they should have done a whole lot more!
The greenette had somehow gotten past both the Detective and Hisashi and was now trying to cannonball off the roof of the building!
Shouta had just enough time to wonder if his capture scarf would reach the teen as he began to fall when a loud rush of air assured him his coworker beat him to it.
All Might, back from his investigation and looking frazzled, was holding the teen who had gone limp.
Until Midoriya found his second wind.
+x+
Izuku began struggling, “No- let me go!”
All Might was holding him- he had caught him- but it wasn’t actually All Might! Someone was trying to trick him, and he wouldn’t fall for it! He wouldn’t tell them anything!
The greenette did everything he’d ever been taught about how to escape a kidnapper. His short raw nails tried to scratch, which only caused him more pain. He bit and screamed and spewed profanities that would make Momo chastise him and Shoto film him. If he gave it another second he might even vomit on the imposter.
“Young Midoriya!” the liar was shouting over him. “Calm Down! You’re Okay!”
No! No he wasn’t!
“Let! Me! Go!” And something burned in him, the same feeling that happened when Mourning Cloak activated, and Izuku felt the short drop as the ground met him.
He rolled away, adrenaline finally masking the pain on his left side, and got to his feet.
“I’m not going to tell you anything! Give him back!” He screamed, the other not-teachers were running to join them. He couldn’t run but as long as he could stand he’s show exactly how poisonous he could be. “You give him back or you’ll have a world of hurt coming your way! You hear me!”
Ms. Amalie would come for him, his friends would always come for him. They would find him and maybe even the real teachers would join in! And Izuku would be fine! He wasn’t alone anymore!
He certainly felt alone.
People were shouting, trying to be heard over his swears and threats. Izuku couldn’t see through his own tears and barely knew what he was shouting anymore.
“Izuku!”
The second a familiar weight rammed into his face Izuku dropped to the floor and curled up around his kwami. Shielding the lilac butterfly from view with his entire body.
“I got you Nooroo, I’m not letting anyone take you!” He shouted, more for himself than to reassure the kwami. “Everything will be fine, The Guardian will come get us. You should warn her, don’t get caught Nooroo, please don’t get caught!”
His screams were directed into the dirt, but no one was taking Nooroo from him.
“Run, don’t get caught, leave me here, I won't say anything go!”
“izuku…” the kwami nuzzled closer to him. “Breathe, I’m not going anywhere.”
“You can’t get caught, you're too important. Please don’t get caught! Go. Go!” Izuku pleaded.
“Izuku!” The kwami said again, pressing his paw to Izuku’s eyes to staunch the tears. “There’s something very strange going on here, but you need to calm down and listen. Listen to me, petite!”
Izuku shuddered, he did not uncurl from around Nooroo. He’d rather die than give him up.
Couldn’t Nooroo see? Izuku had failed!
One word and Nooroo would be back to working against everything he stood for! And it would all be Izuku’s fault for being so stupid as to-
“You didn’t fall for anything! You didn’t fail!” Nooroo insisted, “There is something you don’t understand and I can tell you but please! Please Izuku! Listen to me.”
Izuku shook like a leaf.
He wanted to go home.
“I’m sorry, Izuku. You're safe, but- but we can’t go home yet.”
+x+
Izuku let them move him back inside. His mind struggled too much to think about pushing them away.
Not-Recovery Girl fixed his hand and shoulder. The fakes were whispering to each other but Izuku couldn’t understand them.
It was like watching the world from just outside his head. Like when he sensed things with his patrons, but even muddier.
Nooroo was here. Nooroo wasn’t leaving even though Izuku deserved it. He should escape-
“I’m not leaving.” The kwami would say and the words would stick for half a second before drifting away from his mind again like a toy boat that momentarily caught on some water plants.
The boat was headed for a waterfall.
He was going to drown.
The adults were talking about someone. Someone not Izuku.
He wished they’d forget about him.
“We’re lost papillon.” Nooroo whispered. “But we’ll find our way home, I promise.”
Notes:
Toshinori: He's a sweet kid, plus he's barely able to walk come days! Don't be rough with him.
Mic & Detective Lady: That child is an actual demon.Izuku wouldn't have gotten nearly as far if they didn't think he was a poor little injured boy. Mic aint that paper thin, he was just severely caught of guard and trying not to hurt Izuku.
