Chapter Text

Broomer dusted his trousers, his smile as wide as a canoe as he rose from his knee. The ring box was now empty, and what once resided in it rested on his boyfriend- no, he wasn't his boyfriend- his fiancé's finger. He held out a hand for Chalky to hold, and after wiping his eyes dry, he took it. Their fingers locked together and they swung their arms happily.

That was months ago now, and they were currently entering some random wedding outfit indie store on the edge of the city. Chocolate Bar, even though he hated their guts, gave them a great recommendation to check this place out before trying any super expensive anchor-line.

Needless to say, the to-be-weds were very thankful for the input, as this indie store turned out to be heavily underrated. All the Tuxedos and Dresses were hand sewn, and had the quality you really couldn't find in any mass produced, 'mainstream' as Latte would put it, retail line.

"Do you want to go first?" Broomer asked when they first entered the store. "I actually don't feel like moving around right now, so you'd be doing me a huge favor."

"Of course! Go sit, i'll find a tux and try it on." Broomer hummed in acknowledgment, kissed Chalky, and walked over to sit on the bench near the dressing rooms.

To be completely honest, Chalky has no experience in this, and has no idea what he is doing except for looking lost. The dressing up and looking nice was more of a Broomer thing, and now he was being thrown into a sea of fabric and buttons and zippers with no knowledge of fashion or the likes of it. If he were here by himself, he'd have given up already. But, he wasn't here alone. He was here with Broomer and..

"Hello my dear! Do you need any help?" Someone asked from right behind him. Chalky jumped about 10 feet in the air at the sudden disturbance of silence. He clutched his chest, turned around, and was met with the owner of the store.

She looked like a nice old lady, and her object was a forest green glass bottle with white roses pressed around the edges. She let out a soft giggle and covered her mouth with one hand. "Ooh i'm sorry dear. I didn't mean to frighten you." "Oh, pshaw. Nothing frightens me. I was just trying to um." He avoided her gaze as he thought up a lie. "I was trying to jump like a kangaroo. Because it's kangaroo season."

The bottle pretty much dismissed what he'd said, much to his relief. "Would you like some help?" She asked, already moving towards the back. Chalky nodded and followed her.

There weren't many suits or tuxedos in stock due to the fact that the little shop was initially just a little project for her granddaughter's prom dress, which expanded into a store for primarily prom and wedding gowns. The only reason she'd started making them was because the girls would bring their boyfriends, or fiancés or masculine friends in, and she'd see them stand around looking lost (like Chalky was not too long ago). She wanted to make sure everyone left with something they'd enjoy. So she started making tuxedos; blue ones, black ones, white ones. But, the store remained primarily for dresses, so the tuxedos weren't made as often as the dresses.

As a result, there wasn't really a designated area for the suits, and they were all fit collectively on one rack near the back. "I'm sorry about the little amount of suits. I'm working on a jumper for my great granddaughter." (Dear glub how much family did this lady have?)

Chalky shuffled through the rack. Since there weren't many options, he had a pretty easy time choosing which one he wanted, and grabbed a simple dark blue tux. "I'll try this one on." He said, holding it up. The bottle nodded and pushed him towards the dressing room. Chalky stumbled in with a soft cry of umbrage.

Some time passed as Broomer waited for Chalky to change. "Heyy uhh.. Can I get a little help-?" He called. The bottle stepped in to assist Chalky. "Oh, you look just like my grandson, all handsome and dressed up. I'm so happy for you!!" She keened, adjusting the collar and tying the bow for him. She stepped back from Chalky to admire her handwork on his person. The glass clapped her hands excitedly and stepped out the dressing room. Broomer sat up in his seat expectantly.

Chalky pulled the curtain back and stepped out. Broomer threw his hands in the air. "10/10, we don't need to try on any more suits. I like that one the best." Chalky did a quick turn and posed, hand on his hip. "Really? You think it brings out my eyes?" Broomer laughed, "It brings out your everything, you look soooo handsome!"

Chalky lashed his eyes rapidly and brought a hand to his cheek. "Awww, if you really think so, we'll get this one!"

They put the tux to the side to purchase later on. Now it was Broomer's turn. He sat Chalky down in the same seat, same spot. "Keep my seat warm for me." He said, before turning and walking off into the foliage of fabrics. "I will!" Chalky shouted back, waving.

Broomer met the same lady within the sea of fabrics. "Would you like for me to help you find the suits as well?" She asked, clasping her hands together. Broomer hesitated and looked back in the direction of Chalky. "..No thanks. I'm sure I can find my way." She nodded and walked back towards the front.

The seat had started to cool by the time Broomer entered the dressing room. He was being a bit secretive with his outfit though, and Chalky couldn't catch a glimpse of it. It's ok though, better to be surprised in time than to pry. He'd opted to picking at the peeling leather on the couch to pass time

"Oh, don't you just look like an angel!" She shouted. Chalky looked up, and suddenly his jaw was on the floor.

Broomer was adorned by a vibrant pink dress with lace frills along the bottom. The bodice had hot pink bows along the side, and there was a great pastel bow on the back.

"You're staring, you'll swallow a fly." He commented. Chalky closed his mouth and swallowed dryly. "I thought we were both wearing suits." Broomer shifted a little, frowning a bit. "Oh! I can change..?"

Chalky ran up and, wrapping his arms around Broomer's waist, picked him up and spun him around. Broomer yelped, though the shock melted off of him and became joy. "No way!! You look so handsome and perfect!! I cannot wait to see you walk down the isle in this!" Chalky dropped Broomer after a little more spinning. "So you're fine with me wearing a dress?" Chalky waved his hand. "Yeah! I was just a little shocked cuz i've never seen you in a dress before. Skirts and Jumpsuits yeah, but wow.." He grabbed Broomer's shoulders and held him at arms distance to get a better look. "Just.. wow! You look so handsome Broomer."

Broomer squeezed Chalky's cheeks affectionately. "Oh shush you cornball. You're so corny." Chalky let out playful yelps of protest, and Broomer rested his hands on his face. Their eyes met, and for a moment the world around them faded away.

"So you'll have these outfits?" The couple jumped as the lady came from nowhere. Chalky'd completely forgotten that they were in a dress shop for a second. "Er- yes, we'll have the dress."
