Work Text:

Ochako Uraraka looked out from the rooftop, it was nighttime and the stars were out, gazing at them, she couldn’t help but smile, if only slightly.

“Well,” she thought aloud to herself, “At least I get to die on a beautiful night!” she says before untying her shoes!

Ochako was expelled from U.A earlier that day, not because she did something wrong, oh no, she’d done everything she could pretty much perfectly in order to catch Mastermind: A young, brilliant, if hammy, new villain who’s been making waves since the U.S.J.. She was tasked to lead her class in capturing him and bringing him to justice, and with the help of her friends, they caught him. He would (and should) have been imprisoned by now if not for Bakugou, who had been barred from the mission of hunting Mastermind down after the hero hopeful lost to him at the U.S.J., came out of nowhere, caused a mess, and gave the villain an opening to escape!

Aizawa’s reasoning was that she should’ve been able to rein Bakugou in and as such, the whole blame lies on her. So now she has nothing, no school, no money, no future. Her parents put so much into getting her in, so she could support them, but now that was dead in the dust. What hero school, what school period is going to accept a U.A reject?

She took off her shoes and sat on the rooftop’s edge. It took her a good minute for her to steel herself, one last step before she jumps. Suddenly, before she took the dive, she heard footsteps and they were approaching her. She placed her hands on the edge and they got faster. “Wait, stop!” A voice cried out as she shut her eyes, “Mom, Dad, I’m sorry” were her final thoughts before she gave a final shove off the ledge to end it all as she waited for the final pain of the impact before it all ended, but that end would never come!

Opening her eyes after several seconds more of not feeling herself impact the ground. She saw that she was swinging from near the top of the building. When she looked up, she saw a boy about her age with dark green hair and eyes grabbing her with one arm and bracing himself from falling over with the other. Their eyes met and Uraraka saw something in his: desperation.

“w-Was he really risking his life to save mine?” She thought as dangled. Not even her own classmates were willing to stick their necks out this far for her.

Deciding not to bring him down with her she used zero gravity on herself, floating above the edge then pulled her back to the rooftop. “Release!” She said she clasped her hands together causing her fall right on top of her mysterious savior. Her face flushed red when she got a good look at him, and she pushed herself off of him landing on her back!

“Oh um…sorry,” she said to the mysterious Verdenette* “Are you alright?” She then asked.

“I could ask the same to you ms.Uraraka, but yes I’m fine” he said, raising his head to show his vibrant viridian eyes.

“h-How do you know my name? Who are you?” She asked him in shock, even though she was a U.A hero student, she never thought of herself as that popular.

“I know you have a lot of questions, but how about we get off this roof first?” The boy then said as he got up, dusted himself off, and offered the former heroine-in-training his hand. and she took it!

At a late night cafe in the middle of the city the strange boy took Uraraka there in an attempt to get her to open up and talk about what just happened. They talked a little before about their lives and families, he shared that he and his mother still live downtown with her giving her reasons.

“So…are you going to answer me?” Uraraka then asked after settling in after ordering an iced tea.

“Right, can’t believe I had forgotten to introduce myself for this long, I’m Izuku Midoriya.” The boy finally introduced himself to her, it sounded familiar to her but she couldn’t put her finger on it.“As for how I know you, well once the sports festival was televised, I particularly enjoyed your fight with k-Bakugou, Impressive work by the way.”

“What was that?” Uraraka thought to herself, did he know Bakugou somehow?, “Oh thank you!” She replied, putting her worries aside at the moment, he was able to to catch her mid suicide, so he wasn’t a slouch himself.

“And two, I heard about your attempted capture of Mastermind at the Orugana building , mind if we talk about that?” He then asked.

“Oh um sure! What do you want to know?” she then asked

“So what was your plan? In as much detail as you can please!” He replied.

“Well, once we found him, the first step was to get him into the courtyard.” She began to explain.

“Which was closed off to prevent escape, yet open enough to allow reinforcement.” Izuku said, sounding quite impressed

“Yeah, plus with the tempered glass roof, it’d be incredibly hard for him to make an airborne exit.”

“Nice, he cornered but not beaten, what’s next?”

“Well.. that’s when Kirishima and Ojiro went in to fight him hand to hand for a good bit.”
“He had a great deal of gadgets, and was a hell of a lot faster than I thought he would be, but he wasn’t too skilled in hand to hand, especially compared to the both of them. So they could wear him down after a few minutes.”

“Ok…so he’s trapped, worn down, how was he finally captured?” Midoriya said before taking a small sip of his coffee

“When the fight against Ojiro and Kirishima was finished we may have left a gap open that could be seen as an escape route.”

“So when he tried to make a break for it Aoyama shot a laser just in front of him. blinding him and giving Tokoyami a boost, he had Dark Shadow put him in a bear hug from behind, then Sero used his tape to finally restrain him!

“Wow and you came up with this by yourself?” Izuku then asked, astonished.

“Well no, it wasn’t just my idea, Momo was the one who initially suggested using the Orugana building, and then everyone helped and pitched in their ideas, I was just in charge of putting it together and making it work. We had to workshop it all night to get it right, but man, it was worth it” Uraraka then said with a glimmer in her eyes.

“Really?” he ask, putting his coffee on the table before stating, “Not many heroes are willing to give credit where credit’s due.”

“Well, no man’s an island, and leaders have to know this best, just because you're in charge doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen to what others have to say.” She said nostalgically, “It was something my dad said to me one day when I visited him at work.”

“Good advice!” He said with a smile before he paused, trying to find the right words to say without causing her any more mental duress, “So………what went wrong? How did he get away?”

“Haah!” She sighed, as if the mere asking of that question sapped her of any energy, “Bakugou fucked it all up!” She stated in an exhausted tone.

“I thought that he wasn’t part of this?” He than asked, concerned with this change in behavior

“He wasn’t, we were about to search the villain for all his gadgets when he just showed up in his hero outfit out of nowhere. Even though he was specifically told by all of our teachers he wasn’t allowed to leave the school until after Mastermind was caught. He came in angry that we caught him already, he wanted to do it himself.,” she said growing frustrated, “Then the Mastermind egged him on a bit causing him to attack, burning the tape and freeing him, he threw a flash bang at us and got away!”

“Why were you on that rooftop, that doesn’t seem bad enough for someone like you to end it all?”

“Because I was expelled!” She said, looking like she was on the verge of tears.

“Huh” he said, genuinely shocked at hearing this,“Why?”

“Because I was in charge of catching him and I let him slip away” she said dejected, “Even though it was not my fault, i-it was that explosive asshat that fucked it all up.”
She cursed, shocking the boy across from her with the sudden use of profanity. “s-Sorry I lost my cool there. Why was I kicked out and he gets to stay. I did everything right, he was in the wrong!” she spoke in a broken downtrodden way.

“This world doesn’t care about right and wrong, all it cares about is money and power!” Uraraka practically reeled, hearing the sudden shift in tone in Midoriya’s voice. As if this entire time he was wearing a mask and only now did he decide to take it off, “In their eyes, ka-Bakugou had the stronger, flashier quirk so they kept him in the hope he’ll turn them a big profit. And you were made to take the fall, his fall.” he said, maintaining his clearly bitter tone, before looking in her shocked expression. “Sorry if I caught you off guard, I’ve…dealt with similar stuff growing up. And here I thought that U.A was better than that!”

“Yeah same here,” she said lowering her head once again, “But that’s not gonna fix anything, thanks to Aizawa I have nowhere else to go, I have no options”

“That’s not entirely true,” Midoriya then replied. Ochako looked up, confused as to what he meant by that, “but that can wait, this place has a really good bakery. Would you like anything from it?”

1-A was in a rather sour mood in the wake of Uraraka’s expulsion. The few who tried to stick up for her, especially the others who were there on the mission with her, were cowed when Aizawa threatened to expel them as well, so the guilt of being unable to their friend (Not to mention her going missing since) didn’t help the situation. And all eyes were looking at Bakugou with a serious hatred, all of which he returned in earnest. Even Kirishima was not too happy with his friend, in his mind he should’ve at least taken some kind of responsibility for it. But in Bakugou’s mind, he’s never done anything wrong in his entire life!

“Alright everyone,” Aizawa said as he rose from his seat, “Look I know everyone’s upset with how things turned out these last few weeks, but you all have to focus.” His class stared at him, upset doesn’t even begin to describe what his students are feeling at the moment.

“Kinda hard to focus when you kicked out the wrong kid!” Jirou remarked, pointing at the now vacant seat.

“Look, I get it, you’re all mad, but we did we had to,” Aizawa spoke, attempting to rein his angry students back in line, “and besides it was her responsibility to capture him and she failed, this is the punish-”

“That’s Bullshit Aizawa!” A voice shouted for the PA system. Cutting Aizawa off!

Suddenly, the projector screen dropped and the classroom’s projector turned on revealing the helmeted visage of the villain they failed to catch.

“Hello everyone, how have you been?” They heard the voice of the last person they wanted to hear after something like that while he waved hello like a stage magician

“Uraraka?” Aizawa exclaimed, the rest of the class too stunned to utter a response

The next thing anyone in the room knew, the projector began playing a 15 minute compilation of clips, a “highlight reel” of Bakugou’s bullying of Izuku showing exactly how “heroic” Bakugou really is, ending with Bakugou saying,

“You want to be a hero so bad, I have an idea,” Bakugo’s mouth dropped, remembering what was about to spew from his younger self’s lips, “Go and take a swan dive off the roof and pray to get a quirk in the next life.”

Bakugo could feel the eyes of his classmates lock on to him like laser sights, if they didn’t hate him before, they most definitely did now. His own eyes were aimed at Aizawa, currently processing everything that had just played on his projector screen.

“That….That's what you expelled Uraraka for?” Izuku said with a scowl, “You expelled someone who headed the team that caught me for the arrogant moron who not only let me escape, but made me this way, because you were worried he’d become a villain? Well newsflash you idiot, he already was one for a long time. And if it wasn’t obvious enough already from what you just watch, I hate him too. If we got our hands on him, we’d probably have him dead or made a Nomu before the end of the week. It was so not worth ruining her life just to further prove that Japan, U.A, and especially you, as things are now, are far beyond saving.”

Hearing this, Aizawa refocused on the young man on the projector, “Oh what’s a matter Aizawa sensei? Curious about that last line and how I singled you out of all the false heroes Japan has to offer? Did you really think it would be easy for someone to get into another school after getting expelled from the hero course of the “Best hero school in the world”, let alone get any type of job above minimum wage? Cause the answers no, and you wanna know why that is?,” All in the classroom were practically transfixed by the green boy and his words, and Bakugo was too busy recovering from watching his sins play in front of his entire class to react!

“It’s actually quite simple,” Izuku spoke with a bitter smile, “simply put, for any and all students expelled from a good school’s Hero course, it’s immediately assumed they did something that warranted said expulsion, and what job or school would ever risk the chance of hiring a villain? This is especially true for anyone expelled from an incredibly prestigious school like U.A, and that goes double for anyone who was expelled early, like say…I don’t know,” Izuku paused for dramatic effect before completing his sentence “the first day!” Aizawa heard this and immediately knew what was coming next for him, “How many kids have you expelled at this point, sensei? If I remember correctly, Ms. Uraraka here makes 160 I believe, all of whom had to choose between living in disgrace like you wanted, or just ending it all.” Aizawa’s knees almost buckled under the weight of what he just heard, was he really doing so much damage to so many kids?

“So I’ll tell you what,” the class could feel the closing remarks coming in like a shark that caught the scent of blood, and is currently making a bee-line towards them, “You can keep your overblown, arrogant, self destructive “hero”, while I have my competent, adaptable, Badass “villainess” as my new right hand, I hope it was worth it.Thank you all for your time!” The young man said as he waved farewell in an over the top manner.

The entire class was silent, Aizawa was practically paralyzed by what was said,Katsuki tried to retort, using the pause as an opening, however,

“Can it Kachan, you’re a disappointment, to me, to yourself, and to your parents.” Hearing that come out of Deku’s mouth of all places was stunning to the explosive boy, what he said next would render Katsuki katatonic, “Speaking of which, I sent the extended cut of my little video to your parents” Katsuki’s jaw hit the floor, everyone else couldn’t believe what they just heard, “I also sent said extended cut to every news team in the city, along with a list every kid Aizawa expelled and where they are now, nowhere good I assure you.” Aizawa was on the verge of tears hearing that, “So as a personal suggestion to all of you, if you really want to go down the “Hero’s road", switch to Shiketsu, cause you won’t find it here, and especially not from him.” Izuku said while pointing to their terrible teacher through the screen. “Welp, that’s our time, anything you want to say before we end this?” he asked his new right hand as he turned to her!

She paused for a few brief moments, closing her eyes in thought, “Good luck guys!” She said in a somber tone as she opened her eyes before adding “Except you Bakugou, you can piss off!” After which, the feed then cuts to black.

As Izuku stopped the video recording, he made damn sure the audio at the school was still playing for about five minutes more, just so he and Ochako could hear the entire class, her friends, go absolutely ballistic on Bakugou and Aizawa all at once, what a lovely sound it was to hear!

The immediate aftermath of what happened in class 1-A obliterated the status quo of Japan.
U.A was under fire for all of Aizawa’s B.S. eventually being forced to shut down, with most of the staff’s reputation in tatters!

Most of the students were able to transfer out into different schools, with Shiketsu and Kestubotsu having the lion’s share. However several of the 1-A students, Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Asui in particular, dropped out of the hero course, either because they were pulled from it by their parents in the former two’s case, or protest of what happened to their friend in the later’s!

Aizawa and Bakugou were both sentenced to life without parole for the ridiculous amount of damage each individually caused. Aizawa accepted the punishment with relative grace. Even helping the guards when prison riots erupt in Tartarus!

Bakugou on the other hand raged like Fenrir against his new chains, he was sent to Asphodel confined to solitary in a straight jacket with only the guard as company, they knew the first chance he got he would start shit. His parents moved to America when they realized what their son had become, by not before suing Aldera for not doing anything to tame Katsuki’s arrogance and need to destroy, leading to the middle school to being demolished in order to make way for an new school building to take its place, built by a small construction company from Mie which had suddenly been a staggeringly large amount of money!

As for Izuku and Ochako, they would become prominent villains, with Izuku eventually taking over Afo as the new king of the Underworld, with his queen by his side. They’d go on to have a pair of twin boy and a little girl, the oldest went on to inherit his grandparents construction company and live an otherwise peaceful life, the younger brother would inherit his parents’ empire, and their daughter would go on to become a quirk analyst and researcher, in no small part due to her Daddy’s guidance, she eventually move into the vacation home in Hawaii!

But those are stories for another time!

Notes:

And being frank here, there is a criminal lack of villain Izuocha stories in terms of fanfics. Why can’t the wholesome ship do crime together!

And let the class go absolutely apeshit on Aizawa. He needs to taste his own medicine and start taking his job as a teacher seriously.
