Lapis looked down at her hand. The pregnancy test she held was positive. It was very clear, that what Jasper did to her had one result: Lapis was pregnant.
Now, she just had to tell Peridot.
Peridot was asexual, and a woman. There was no way that Lapis could pass the kid off as theirs. But... Peridot would be understanding. She wouldn't judge Lapis about what happened.
"I should just tell her what happened," she thought. "We can figure out how things go from there."
Cautiously, Lapis approached Peridot. She took a deep breath before she spoke. "Peridot, I need to tell you something."
"Sure, Lapis, what's up?"
"You might want to sit down for this." She led Peridot to the couch and took another breath.
Slowly, Lapis took Peridot through what happened. How she tried to talk to Jasper. How she didn't want to get back together, and how Jasper didn't listen. By the end, Lapis was crying.
"So, now I'm pregnant, and it's hers, and I don't know what to do." The tears were falling down Lapis' face. Surprisingly, Peridot didn't say anything. She looked like she was thinking.
"That... CLOD!" Peridot finally exclaimed. "How could she just do that to you?! If she thinks that you will go back to her, then she's got another thing coming!" Lapis did not expect this reaction. She knew Peridot would be upset with Jasper, but she didn't think it would be so intense.
She turned back to Lapis. "Are you okay? I mean, that's a lot to happen to one person."
"I will be, but I... I don't know what happens now..."
"I know what we should definitely do," Peridot said. "We're getting a restraining order on Jasper, and I'll see what else we can do legally against her."
Peridot was so sure about that. It made Lapis almost laugh. Of course Peridot would immediately try to make things legal. And it would work, that was for sure.
Peridot continued, "As for the baby, I will be okay with whatever you're comfortable with. If you want to keep it, I'll help you raise it. If you don't want it, we'll figure something else out."
"Are you sure? You'd be okay with raising her child if we kept it?"
"Lapis, I'd be okay with it if you were. You're the one that's pregnant, and I will help you every step of the way."
This definitely made Lapis feel better. She wiped the tears from her eyes before turning again to Peridot. "Thanks, Peri, but I'm going to need some time to think about it."
"Take all the time you need." Peridot smiled at Lapis. It was a comforting smile, one that said, "I care for you, and I'll help you." Lapis knew that whatever happened next, they'd be able to face it together.
