Chapter 2: sunshine on a rainy day ‪♡ - minokana

Chapter Text

Kanade nudged her front door open with her back, a minor victory considering the small mountains of clothing hanging off her arms. Bags of clothing, each feeling like a lead weight, dragged her arms toward the ground. "Alright.. just gotta deliver these clothes to the hospital, and I'll get back to composing.." She murmured to herself, walking the usual path she took to get to the hospital.

As more time passed, Kanade took notice in how the sun was slowly hiding itself behind the light gray clouds, causing it to get rather dark outside. ("It's going to rain soon.. I should hurry.") Kanade thought, attempting to pick up the pace in her walking. As she was trying to speed-walk, Kanade slowly drifted off in her thoughts with her eyes pointed towards the ground. She then suddenly her bumped into somebody in front of her. The bags filled with clothes dropped on the sidewalk, spilling out unfolded. "Ah- sorry." Kanade quickly looked up, blinking a few times. Her vision, after the sudden impact, focused on a caramel-haired girl. Gray eyes. An orange and white hair clip sat slanted in her hair. The girl, almost on autopilot, gave a quick head dip. "Sorry!"

"Minori?" Kanade blinked. Minori eventually picked up her head, a smile of shock striking her face. "Oh! Kanade! Funny seeing you here!" She gasped before her gray eyes wandered on to the bags with clothing on the sidewalk. "What are you doing?" Minori asked with a small tilt to her head.
"Oh, um.." Kanade paused, scooping up the clothes into heavy bags. "I'm delivering these clothes to the hospital for my dad." She explained, getting a worried frown out of Minori. "Aww, is he okay?"

Kanade nodded, giving a small smile of reassurance. "Don't worry. He's doing okay." She sighed a little in exhaustion, straining her arms from carrying such heavy bags. Minori took notice of her struggle before holding out a hand. "I could help carry some bags if you want!" Minori kindly assisted, smiling brightly. Kanade froze at the kind gesture. "Are you sure? I don't want to be holding up anything you have planned.." Kanade averted her eyes away from Minori who shook her head. "I honestly have nothing to do!"

The white-haired girl softly smiled, slowly handing Minori one of the bags. "You're so kind, Minori. Thank you."
Minori tensed at the sudden praise before shifting her weight leg to leg. "Me? Really?? I can't possible be that kind!" Minori flailed one of her arms, randomly getting a little flustered about it. Kanade quietly laughed under her breath.

‪♡ . . .

The two girls finally made their way to the hospital, dropping the clothes off as expected. Once they both exited the hospital, they immediately got rained on. "O-oh!" Minori stammered in slight shock before giggling a little. "I didn't expect it to rain..!"
"I mean.. it's gotten darker than usual before it started raining." Kanade pointed out, moving her wet hair strands that clung to her face. Minori paused. "I didn't notice!" The light brown haired girl giggled before her eye caught a nearby cafe. "Kanade, are you hungry?" She turned towards the girl beside her who gave her a small look of confusion before blinking. "I think so," Kanade said before her wrist was in the grasp of Minori's, resulting in a small sound of shock to leave her throat.. Next thing Kanade knew was that she was getting guided towards a cafe.

"A cafe..?" Kanade mumbled as Minori nodded a few times before finally noticing her hand was wrapped around Kanade's wrist. Minori flinched before quickly letting go. "A-ah! Sorry!" Her face flared. Kanade shook her head. "You didn't do anything wrong," she reassured with a lace of confusion wrapped around her tone. The girls entered the cafe, warmth surrounding the two like a warm embrace. Kanade softly shivered at the sudden change of temperature.

"I think I have a couple of yen with me..!" Minori hummed, digging through her pockets. Some yen scattered out of her pockets before she dropped to a crouch to quickly collect them again. Minori silently counted the yen she had before looking up at the cafe menu. A sigh of defeat escaped her. "I.. don't have enough. The only free thing here is water..!" Minori frowned, facing Kanade with a sadden, but also sheepish look. "I'm sorry I can't get you anything.. do you want water?" She suggested as Kanade lightly shook her head again. "I'm alright, thanks." Kanade sat down on a nearby seat.

Minori, still dripping from the rain, approaching the counter to order a singular water that was instantly handed to her. She walked to where Kanade sat. A big table, like a small island, separated them. Two soft benches sat on opposite sides. Minori took the far bench. She sipped her water. "So, um!" she started. "How's your group?" Minori's smile looked like it was trying to wrestle the silence into submission. Kanade snapped out of her daze before looking right at Minori who tensed a little. "Oh, my group..?" She repeated before falling silent for a couple seconds. "..They're fine." She added, not adding too many details. Minori nodded in response.

"What about yours?" Kanade quietly asked. Minori's eyes widened a little, not expecting to get a question from Kanade. "O-oh! Everything's alright! We preformed in our SEKA-" Minori abruptly stopped, slapping a hand to her mouth while Kanade observed her with a confused blink. Minori clenched her jaw. ("I almost said SEKAI!! Kanade probably doesn't know what that is..") Minori thought before softly clearing her throat. "Hehe, sorry, felt like I needed to sneeze." Minori's laugh came out a bit too high-pitched, a nervous little chirp of a lie. Kanade gave a faint smile back at her childish act.

"You know.." Kanade started, glancing outside the window next to them. The rain eased into a light drizzle as the gray clouds slowly lightened up into a light gray mixture. "You remind me of the sun, Minori." Kanade looked back at Minori who squeaked out a small "huh?" from her throat. "The sun?" The other girl repeated, taking another sip of her water. Kanade nodded, shifting her gaze away from Minori for a moment. "..Like sunshine on a rainy day. You bring light and warmth."

Minori nearly choked on her water, coughing a little under her breath. "W-what? Light and warmth?! Y-you think so??" Minori rambled, blushing deeply with a flustered smile. Kanade couldn't help but silently laugh again at her flailing and head shakes of flustered denial. Minori giggled again, rubbing the side of her face. "That.. makes me so happy." Minori smiled as Kanade smiled back.

As the light drizzle eased, sunlight broke through the clouds, finally visible once again.

Chapter 3: how about a break? ♡ - kailuka (leo/need)

Chapter Text

KAITO sat in the School SEKAI classroom. He tried to tune his guitar, but the strings refused to cooperate. Each turn of the peg made the sound worse, not better. He squinted hard at the music sheet, the notes blurring on the page. Then he looked down at his guitar, his fingers pressing against a string. The sound was off, still.

A quiet sigh escaped him. Not just any sigh, but a heavy one, carrying hours of effort. He slumped down into a nearby chair, the frustration a physical weight on his shoulders. "This is impossible," he mumbled. He set the guitar down as if it had betrayed him. Then, he buried half his face in his hands. It was a gesture of defeat and stress. KAITO has been at this for hours; and he's supposed to learn to tune his guitar correctly for an upcoming Leo/Need performance in the SEKAI. He was running out of time, which only made his stress grow.

One of the school doors to the classroom slid open as a long pink haired VIRTUAL SINGER named Megurine Luka entered, looking down at the music sheet in her hands. In the corner of Luka's eye, she spotted KAITO slumped down in a chair with half of his face hidden in his hands. Her gaze softened as worry inched on her features. Luka took a few light steps towards the other VIRTUAL SINGER.
"KAITO?" Luka gently called out his name, getting no response. She sat down in another chair beside KAITO, calling out his name again. Still, no response. The pink haired girl briefly tilted her head. "Hey, you hear me, right?" Luka lightly nudged KAITO's shoulder before progressively nudging it with more force. KAITO finally lifted his head up, his eyes unfocused before reality slapped him hard enough to notice that Luka was right there. "O-oh, Luka.. hello." KAITO awkwardly greeted with a flat tone of voice.

Luka hummed a small sound of curiosity before her blue eyes flickered to the other music sheet on a small stand in front of KAITO. Then, she glanced down at his guitar, piecing the context together. Luka looked back at KAITO who looked completely worn out. "How long have you been here?" Luka questioned as KAITO softly sighed. "Few hours.."
Luka paused with a expression of surprise and concern sparking in her eyes. "You should take a break," she kindly suggested, rising to her feet before slowly walking behind KAITO who slightly tensed. "Um.. I guess, yeah.." He mumbled in a silent tone.

Next thing KAITO felt was Luka wrapping her arms around him from behind. She stayed silent, resting her chin on top of KAITO's short blue hair. KAITO froze up completely, stuck on what to do, or how to feel. Eventually, he felt a wave of calm, slowly closing his eyes and resting in Luka's hold. The classroom was slowly filled with Luka's soft and comforting hums, causing them to both relax.

After some time, Luka opened one of her eyes, peeking at KAITO's face. "I knew you were sleepy.." she whispered, a quiet laugh escaping her. She gently let her arms drop to her sides. She picked up the music sheet KAITO was looking at, silently observing the notes before her eyes caught a mistake. "..That should be changed.." Luka mumbled, looking around for any writing utensil to change it.

After Luka correctly fixed the mistake, she placed it beside KAITO and wrote a small note next to it before quietly leaving the classroom.

♡ . . .

KAITO woke up shortly after, looking around the classroom to find no Luka. Rubbing one of his eyes, he noticed the music sheet was modified and changed which made a ton of sense now. He almost overlooked the note beside the sheet, but he caught in just in time. Silently reading the words, KAITO paused, his eyes widening with a brief tint of pink on his face. The note read..

<"Fixed a mistake right here while you were beautifully sleeping. Hope this helps you, love. <3">
-Megurine Luka.

KAITO sat there for a moment, regaining his composure. He pinched his eyes shut before re-reading the note again. An impulsive decision pushed him to secretly keep that note with him for a long time. It probably wasn't much to other's but definitely a lot to KAITO. A sigh left KAITO who stared at the ground for a while.

"..Love." He mumbled to himself, a small smile tugging at his lips.

Chapter 4: cute thief ♡ - emukasa

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Emu was the only troupe member in Wonderlands x Showtime separated from all of her friends, and most of all; separated from Tsukasa, when it came to school. Sure, she had other friends back at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy, but she was often spotted snooping around Kamiyama High School to go check in on her closest friends, and Tsukasa. This time was no different, but Emu had a dedicated goal of trying to find Tsukasa first.

The pink haired girl quietly entered the entrance of Kamiyama, sinking into the bushes. She knew exactly what time was the lunch period, and usually would see her friends outside together. Emu eventually found Rui, Nene, and Tsukasa chatting amongst each other while eating their lunch. She glanced at Tsukasa’s school jacket that was a little further away from him, and close in Emu’s reach.

Something randomly pushed her to go snatch his jacket to mess around with him for a while. Even though it was considered a messed up thing to do, it was a harmless, playful act. And with that thought, Emu swiftly grabbed Tsukasa’s jacket, bolting away from anyone’s view. Nene looked up from her bento box, noticing the bushes rustling all of a sudden until it settled down. She eventually turned her attention back to Rui and Tsukasa.

Emu was now hiding behind one part of the school building, more bushes covering her. She hugged Tsukasa’s jacket close to her chest, soaking in the warmth before slipping it over her clothes. It was awfully baggy and big on her, but it still gave her a sense of comfort.

It didn’t take long for Tsukasa to realize his school jacket disappeared. As soon as the three were done with their lunches, they got up to move somewhere else until Tsukasa reached over to grab his jacket that wasn’t there. He paused, looking around his area frantically.

“C’mon, you’re going to waste the rest of the lunch period..” Nene grumbled, eyeing Tsukasa with mild annoyance. “Did you lose something, Tsukasa-kun?” Rui inquired with a blink. “My jacket.. it disappeared — I don’t know where it went.. it was just behind me..!” Tsukasa rubbed the side of his head stressfully. “We’ll help you look,” nodded Rui, starting the search for Tsukasa’s jacket as Nene dragged her feet and silently helped as well.

Emu lightly giggled to herself, hearing their nearby conversations. (“I’ll give it back once the bell rings, but..”) Emu paused, snuggling the big jacket close to her again. (“..I really don’t wanna give it back..!”) She knew the right thing was to give it back, but the comfort of Tsukasa’s jacket made her hesitant.

“You might as well just buy another school jacket.. I give up,” Nene shrugged, leaning against a part of the school building surrounded by bushes—exactly where Emu was. Tsukasa frowned, sighing. “Right..” He pushed aside bushes before walking away from them in defeat. “Sorry, Tsukasa-kun,” Rui hummed disappointedly.

Nene glanced down at her feet before her purple eyes caught a glimpse of bright pink near the bushes next to her. She blinked a few times, her curiosity piqued. In that moment, Emu froze, locking eyes with Nene who immediately spotted her with Tsukasa’s jacket slightly hanging off of her small frame. “Wha—EMU?!” Nene stumbled back, not expecting to see Emu at this time. As Tsukasa was still trying to retrace his steps and Rui was helping him, they both paused once they heard Nene.

“Emu?” Tsukasa repeated, walking over to Nene as Rui followed. Tsukasa’s orange eyes fell upon the bright pink hair girl who looked right back at the blonde boy, the baggy jacket slumping off of her shoulders. “I.. found your jacket,” Emu awkwardly smiled, trying to break the silence. Tsukasa hung his head in disbelief. “Emu.. YOU stole my jacket?”
Emu slowly nodded. “But I was gonna give it back!” She quickly added. Tsukasa couldn’t be mad at her for too long. (“She’s adorable with my jacket on, even though it doesn’t fit at all—wait what am I saying..?”) Tsukasa hushed his thoughts before faintly scoffing with a small smile. “You thief,” he joked, receiving his jacket back from Emu.

“Now get out of here before other people spot you!” Tsukasa scoffed out a laugh as Emu nodded, quickly embracing the blonde boy in a tight squeeze as a goodbye. She waved to Nene and Rui before sneaking out of Kamiyama High. Tsukasa shook his head, trying to shake off the flusteredness that was creeping within him. (“You cute thief.”)

Chapter 5: wake up! ♡ - rinluka (wonderlands x showtime)

Chapter Text

It was another bright day in the Wonderland SEKAI as usual. Singing flowers bloomed with vibrant colors, energetic living animal plushies running left and right, and thrilling theme park rides. Then there was Luka, asleep peacefully on a nearby bench where Rin finally spotted her from afar. She was searching everywhere for her in the SEKAI. Rin tilted her head, her big bunny-like bow swaying gently. She approached Luka, observing her sleeping position before giving her a light nudge to her arm.

"Luuukaaa! Wake up! We have a performance together soon!" Rin whined, shaking her arm. Luka didn't respond with a simple groan, mumble, or turn to her head. Rin's face crinkled into a childish pout, looking around the SEKAI to find anything that she could wake Luka up with.

She went back to wandering around the bright theme park, picking up random things such as living plushies she placed on top of Luka's head and body, and sweet pastries that was waved under her nose to stir her senses awake. But nothing worked to bring Luka out of her deep slumber. Rin slumped onto the ground, next to the bench while staring off for a moment, trying to think of some other plan. All of the other VIRTUAL SINGERS were doing their own thing at the time. She couldn't bother them right now.

Luka slowly opened one of her eyes, looking down at Rin who didn't notice Luka was watching her right now. A small, tired giggle left the pink haired VIRTUAL SINGER, causing Rin to snatch her head up at Luka. Rin flinched in shock, her gaze meeting Luka's sleepy one. "Luka!" Rin gasped, clinging to her as if she was a tree. "I thought you'd never wake up!" The yellow haired girl frowned, still embracing Luka in a clingy hug.

Luka softly smiled, placing a soft hand on Rin's head while slowly sitting up. Rin's large bow flattened under Luka's palm.
"Oh, Rin.. I was awake the whole time," hummed Luka, swaying gently. Rin froze, staring at Luka who stared back with her usual drowsy smile. Rin lightly shook one of Luka's sides in a playful manner. "Why would you do that to me?!" She tilted her head upwards while wailing out dramatically. Luka let out a weak laugh, covering her mouth with her hand.

Rin let out a breath, looking up at Luka again before leaning a little bit of her weight on her. Luka slowly mirrored Rin's action, closing her eyes before actually nodding off. Rin watched the stuffed animal plushies run and play around before speaking up. "We should eat together someday, Luka.. that'd be fun!" Rin laughed a little at her suggestion before noticing the lack of response from Luka. Rin looked up at her sleeping for real this time. She gently poked at Luka's shoulder, sighing. "The performance isn't going to perform itself, Luka..!" Rin gently shook her once again, a constant loop of attempting to pull her out of her slumber.

Eventually, Rin gave up, resting her head against Luka's closest shoulder and wrapping her hands underneath Luka's closest arm. Rin closed her eyes before fall asleep right alongside Luka. Now who would wake both of them up?

♡ . . .

The day shifted to night in the Wonderland SEKAI as what finally stirred Rin awake to come back to her senses, was a light and fluffy blanket hugging her skin that was also shared with Luka. Rin slowly opened her eyes, looking down at the blanket, then at Luka, then at.. the rest of the VIRTUAL SINGERS right in front of her. A jolt of surprise struck Rin as she frantically looked around. "What happened?" She eventually asked.

"We happened to find you all snuggled up with Luka after looking for you two," MEIKO playfully snickered, placing a hand on her waist.
"You two looked very cozy, so we didn't wanna ruin that!" Len nodded, along with Miku who was behind the bench at the time. "I brought the blanket!" She chirped happily. Rin looked at KAITO with a hint of sheepishness crossing her face. "Did I mess up the performance we had today?" She slightly tilted her head.

KAITO hummed, shaking his head. "No, actually. It's a work in progress, so no need to worry!" He paused, looking at Luka and Rin once more as a thought struck him. "This gave me an idea, though." He started, folding his arms. "We can add this as one of the scenes in the performance." KAITO suggested as everyone else gave an ecstatic nod to their heads while Rin softly flushed, looking at Luka again.

"..Well, if you say so..!" She mumbled, smiling with a hint of embarrassment. Cheers of happiness rang throughout the Wonderland SEKAI.

Chapter 6: caught ♡ - shihosaki

Notes:

i believe this is an AU of shiho and saki being grown up, due to the request wanting them to be married <3

Chapter Text

Who would've known two very close childhood friends would get married in the future? Saki and Shiho sure didn't, but it happened. No one complained, they truly loved and looked after each other. The two girls moved into their own household to share together, getting settled in. After a few months had passed spending time together with laughter and countless of cuddles, there were still no problems. Well, until one day.

Shiho dug through the closet both her and Saki shared on their respective sides, looking for her favorite jacket she usually threw on. Weird thing was; she couldn't find it at all. As if it disappeared from thin air.
"Shihoo! Are you almost done finding your thingy?" Saki called from downstairs, the slight impatience sinking into her cheery tone. Shiho tensed a little. "Ah- hold on..!" She responded, searching again, but this time more frantically before huffing in defeat and grabbing another jacket.

Saki watched Shiho walk down the stairs, a jacket slumped in her arms. It looked like it's never been worn, or Saki just never saw it in so long. Despite that, it caught her eye and an idea sparked in her mind that she kept to herself. Shiho noticed the blonde haired girl staring at the jacket for a long time before softly clearing her throat. "We should go now." Shiho spoke up rather awkwardly, softly nudging Saki's side. "You staring is weird.." A small laugh escaped her, putting on the jacket. Saki eventually snapped out of her thoughts, shaking her head to herself before putting on a sheepish smile. "Hehe, sorry.."

The two left the house to spend more time together at a nearby, calming park. Saki held one of her hands out to Shiho to hold, which she eventually took the honors in taking. Saki lightly swung her arm with her hand wrapped around Shiho's. The gray haired girl calmly smiled at the act. "I remember you still used to do this when we were friends, too." Shiho recalled as Saki giggled. "Oh yeah!"

♡ . . .

As Shiho and Saki enjoyed their time at the rather large park, they both made a return to their household. Just then, Shiho got reminded about the jacket she was desperately searching for. She turned to Saki. "Hey, have you seen my jacket that I usually always wear?" Shiho asked, taking her shoes off by the door. Saki randomly stiffened before quickly shaking her head. "Uhh, nooo.." Saki responded with a wavering tone, along with being so quick to answer. Shiho got pricked with slight suspension. Shiho hummed in disappointment. "Alright, I'll be in the bedroom," she walked up the stairs as Saki nodded.

Shiho put her jacket away before staring at her side of the closet. She folded her arms, squinting at her clothes before sighing to herself. "No.. Saki wouldn't do that." She mumbled to herself, sitting on her usual side of the large bed. Shiho couldn't help but to overthink about it though; if it wasn't Saki taking her clothes, then who? No one could possibly break in their house. It had to be Saki, then. But.. she didn't want to assume with no evidence.

Shiho eventually got her mind to move on from that topic as she fluffed her pillow a little, propping it up against the bed frame. Saki walked into the bedroom, taking a brief glance of the closet which caught Shiho's eye. She clenched her jaw a little tighter, watching Saki hop into the warm and cozy bed with Shiho. The blonde girl eventually noticed Shiho's staring which made her tilt her head a little. "Now you're staring.." Saki smiled awkwardly. "Something on your mind?"

"Oh, yeah. Actually.." Shiho blinked a few times, letting out a small breath. "Are you sure you have no idea where my jacket went?" She asked again which Saki slightly hung her head at. "I'm sure!" Her voice slightly wavered, causing Shiho to squint at her. Saki paused, a frown settling. "C'mon, Shiho.. you really don't believe your own wife?" She pouted, resting her head against Shiho's shoulder. Shiho placed a hand on top of Saki's blonde hair before shaking her head. "Actually, forget it. I don't know why it's bothering me as much.."

"Mmm, maybe you just need to sleep!" Saki suggested, stretching out her limbs before sinking into the bed sheets. Shiho looked down at Saki already about to doze off while wrapped in the thick bed covers. Shiho eventually did the same, laying her pillow down to rest her head on it. "Right. Goodnight, Saki." She mumbled, turning off the small lamp by her nightstand. "Night-night, Shiho..!" Saki chirped with her voice thick with sleep. A warm hand settled over Shiho's.

. . . ♡

There was a sudden rummaging sound that ripped Shiho's sleeping state away. She slowly fluttered her eyes open, squinting in the pure darkness of the room. She turned to expect Saki next to her, yet she wasn't there. Shiho listened quietly. The rummaging sound.. was coming from the closet. "Saki..?" Shiho's raspy voice sliced through the dark. The rummaging came to an abrupt stop, but no one answered. Shiho eventually turned on the lamp beside her, her eyes adjusting to the brightness before she spotted something.

Saki was there. By the closet - by Shiho's side of the closet with the jacket Shiho had worn to the park, and the jacket Shiho was looking for, both in her grasp. Saki froze, looking at Shiho with widened eyes before letting out a nervous laugh. "Guess I was too loud..?"
Shiho rubbed the side of her face with disappointment. "..Why did you lie to me?"
Saki dipped her head a little. Her gaze slid away like a puppy in trouble. "I mean.. it's kinda embarrassing.. wearing someone else's clothes.." Saki mumbled, slowly removing one of Shiho's jackets off of her shoulders. "I thought I could get away with it..!"

"What's embarrassing is that you thought you could get away with it without me knowing." A small smile broke through Shiho's expression of disappointment. "Saki, you can always ask, y'know. We practically share everything here." Shiho removed the bed covers off of her legs before slowly rising to her feet.

"You're not mad?" Saki tilted her head again, her pink eyes wavering in desperation. Shiho shook her head. "Over some jackets? That'd be weird. Of course I'm not mad." She grabbed the jacket that Saki slowly handed to her, hanging both of her jackets up. "It's way too early.. how long have you been doing this?" Shiho yawned a little, closing the closet back. Saki looked away before mumbling. "Maybe a few weeks..?"

Shiho scoffed out another laugh, softly tapping the back of Saki's head. "Really?" Shiho rose a brow. "You're lucky you're married to me."

"H-hey!" Saki laughed, rubbing her head. She settled back into bed again, along with Shiho. As the light was turned off, the two girls could put that weird discussion behind them. They could finally sleep.

Chapter 7: the silent treatment ♡ - mikuluka/negitoro (vivid BAD SQUAD)

Notes:

help every virtual singer ship so far has luka in it 😭 not complaining though because luka is QUEEN. <3

Chapter Text

Luka folded her legs inside the cafe-like spot within the Street SEKAI, watching Miku from across the room who was busy messing with MEIKO's cooking. Luka stifled a small laugh before glancing away with a sigh. Recently, Miku has been giving Luka the "cold shoulder" to her and only her. Luka couldn't help but to overthink it; was it some sort of prank? Or Miku really was pushing her away? If so, why? Luka knew those questions wouldn't magically answer themselves. She needed to actually confront Miku.

A few minutes went by as Miku was done with engaging in conversations with other VIRTUAL SINGERS, except for Luka. The pink haired girl tapped her foot against the floor, placing her chin in her palm. This was her chance to speak up. To get Miku's attention. But as soon as Luka took a breath, Rin and Len came hopping toward Miku while arguing with each other like childish siblings.

Luka rose to her feet, walking out the cafe before sneaking a small glance at Miku's face. Luka hummed to herself, staring at the spray painted graffiti on the walls. "I didn't do anything wrong, right?" Luka mumbled, staring at the ground. The thought gnawed at her. Just then, the small bell to the cafe door chimed softly as Miku came out of the cafe with a rather stressful sigh. "They're such a handful.. goodness-" Miku stopped, noticing Luka standing a few centimeters away from her. Her eyes darted away from Luka, dropping silent. Luka frowned before pulling in a breath. "Miku.." She started, getting a small stare from the other VIRTUAL SINGER.

"Y'know, recently.. you've been really cold and distant to me..!" Luka pouted with a tilt to her head. "Did I do anything wrong?"
Miku silently watched Luka trying to form fake tears to try to make her feel a little guilty. Eventually, Miku rose a brow. "What do you mean?" She folded her arms as she observed Luka doing unnecessary hand movements. "You being mean to me, is what I mean!" Luka paused. "I remember a few days ago I tried inviting you to one of my favorite spots in the SEKAI and you didn't spare me a glance!" She shook her head, whining in a childish manner which honestly made Miku internally smile from the ridiculous act.

Miku hummed in thought, looking away from Luka who drooped her shoulders. "See? Another cold response..!" She paused yet again, turning around while speaking. "Or maybe.. you're too shy to speak with me." Luka assumed which made Miku slightly jolt. She clenched her jaw a little, looking at the back of Luka who kept talking. "You can be honest with me-" Luka cut herself off before being turned around by Miku who looked directly at her with a bit of determination in her dark teal eyes. "If it's honesty you want, I can give you honesty, Luka." Miku pulled aside some of Luka's long pink hair before grabbing Luka's shoulders, trying to match up the height. Luka tensed as no more words seemed to slip off her tongue anymore.

It was a quick movement, but Miku swiftly leaned in and pressed her lips against Luka's in a sudden kiss act. She let go of her shoulders, looking away. Luka's eyes widened as she tried to process what just happened to her. It was as if the whole SEKAI tilted. She placed a few of her fingers on her lips, staring at Miku who refused to look Luka in the eyes now.

"Miku-"

"Don't you dare tell anyone." Miku quickly cut Luka off, a faint flustered expression breaking through her tough exterior. And with that, Miku slipped back into the cafe without any other added words. Luka let out a breath, pulling herself together before silently following Miku inside.

♡ . . .

"What happened out there, hmm?" MEIKO's voice caught Luka's attention as she flinched a little, looking over at MEIKO who was tidying everything up in the cafe. Luka cleared her throat, a tremor running through her. "N-nothing, why?" She released a nervous laugh which only made MEIKO raise a brow, humming. "Mmm, no reason." MEIKO softly giggled to herself before going back to cleaning the counter. Luka sat in a chair only to slow slump into it. ("Did MEIKO see what happened?") Luka thought to herself, staring up at the ceiling. Miku was across the room, silently staring rather intensely at Luka who eventually noticed her deep staring.

Luka stared back at the teal haired girl, a small smile sneaking on her face, only meant for Miku. Miku faintly flushed with a small roll to her eyes, smiling back. A rush of warmth spread through Luka. It was a small, yet great moment. If only they were the only two VIRTUAL SINGERS there..

Chapter 8: ice cream ♡ - anhane

Notes:

writers block came back 💔

Chapter Text

Another summer, another unbearable heatwave no one invited. It was everyone's day off in Vivid BAD SQUAD, thankfully. Meaning that they could rest and get away from the unreal temperature outside. Right?

Kohane sat in her bedroom, in front of a fan that blew refreshing, cool air on her hot and flushed face. She tied her sandy-blonde colored hair up into a small, low ponytail. Just then, the doorbell to her front door rang, prompting Kohane to sit up a bit more. Gathering the strength to rise to her feet and move, Kohane eventually approached the front door, slowly cracking it open. The last person she expected to be at her doorstep was one of her group mates, specifically An Shiraishi. A small gasp slipped from Kohane's throat as she opened the door a little wider, only to get more hot air from outside to hit her face.

"O-oh! Hi, An-chan.. I didn't expect to see you here," Kohane awkwardly shifted, a smile wiping on her lips. An returned the smile. "Yeah, sorry for dropping here suddenly. Should've called you first." She silently snickered before getting to the main topic. "Anywho! I was wondering if you're busy?"
Kohane randomly tensed before she shook her head, seeing An's amber eyes brighten up more. "Great! If you're up to it, we can maybe get some ice cream? I saw a store not too far from here." An slightly tilted her head, looking at Kohane for a response. Instead, Kohane wasn't really.. all there in the conversation. Right now, she was silently observing An's different appearance.

She was wearing a dark blue crop-top along with some dark, ripped jean shorts. Plus, An's usual long hair was tied into a high ponytail, keeping the star accessories and hair clips in her hair. All of it was so pretty on her. An noticed Kohane's lack of response, and her tense staring. She raised a brow, her smile shifting into an awkward one. "Kohane?" An gently called out to the girl who slightly flinched out of her daze. "S-sorry! Um.." Kohane paused, trying to recall what An just asked. Eventually, she gave a small nod. "Ice cream sounds great..! Um, I gotta.. ask my parents.. hold on." Her voice slightly wavered as she retreated back into her house.

An softly giggled under her breath, nodding back. Eventually, Kohane made a return, granted with permission to hangout with An, and also in fresh, new clothes. "Ready when you are," Kohane looked up at An who started guiding Kohane toward the ice cream store. As they walked, silence hung between them. An glanced at Kohane occasionally, checking in. "You okay? You seemed really focused when I arrived," An remarked with a gentle smile. Kohane lifted her gaze. "I'm okay! It's just hot out..." She fanned herself with her hand, sighing. An hummed in response, her eyes tracing over Kohane's attire—a white tee with light pink sleeves and light blue shorts. All of it was so cute on her.

Finally, the two girls arrived at the small ice cream shop. It felt like paradise entering the doors and getting greeted with air conditioning that melted away the sweltering heat that still gripped them both. Kohane sighed deeply. An laughed a little at her reaction to the sudden change in temperature. "I know, right?" She said, sharing the sentiment.
They approached the counter, eyes scanning the array of flavors. With their decisions made, they settled at a small table. Their conversation flowed gently until An spoke her mind for a second.

"You're so cute.." A mumble left An's throat without noticing instantly until Kohane's ears caught it. "Huh?" Kohane's eyes slowly widened, her face warming into a rosy hue. An paused, registering what she just said wasn't in her head. "Your clothes." An quickly added with a hint of panic in her tone. "Your clothes.. are so cute." An attempted to cover up, yet Kohane's blush only deepened, her hand instinctively moving to her face.

"Sorry," winced An, dropping her gaze with embarrassment. Kohane looked at An again with a shake to her head. "N-no! It's fine.." Kohane attempted to softly laugh her embarrassment away, reassuring the other girl with a mix of shyness and amusement. Silence swallowed both of their conversations until their ice cream arrived. Kohane received her strawberry flavored ice cream while An had her mint chip. They gave nods of thanks to the person who arrived with their cones.

Kohane silently watched An lick the minty ice cream before she did the same with hers. A cold sensation shivered down her spine for a second before they both enjoyed their sweet, cold treats.

♡ . . .

An chomped down on the ice cream cone while Kohane took small nibbles which made An laugh to herself. "You nibble like a hamster," An playfully teased as Kohane showed a small, flustered yet confused smile. "Hamster..?" Kohane repeated, a small laugh escaping her. She placed her half-eaten cone down on a napkin before placing a palm on the side of her face. Kohane looked at An's clothes again, taking a breath. "Your.. clothes are cute too." Kohane awkwardly spoke up, earning a much wider smile from the girl. "Hehe, thanks! I got them from-" An paused, halting her words before noticing what Kohane really meant. Her smile twisted into a much more flustered one.

Kohane's shoulders lightly rose as she noticed An caught on to what she really meant. It was like some weird confession. A nervous giggle left the smaller girl. Now both of the girls were equally flustered.

The warmth between them wasn't just from the summer sun.

Chapter 9: overthinking ♡ - meiluka (VIRTUAL SINGER)

Chapter Text

As the fluffy white clouds drifted across the light blue sky, fragmented pieces of the six respective SEKAIs floated among the breeze the VIRTUAL SINGER SEKAI had. Down below had a bright hue of green grass with small patches of flowers. A singular large and tall tree stood out in the middle of the SEKAI, but it didn't look or feel out of place.

Luka rested her back against the tree bark, quietly staring at the grass below her while her mind was brewing up a series of overwhelming thoughts all at once. She had eventually placed her forehead against her knees, pinching her eyes shut before a small sob escaped her throat.
MEIKO wandered throughout the SEKAI in simple boredom before she approached the large tree. Her gaze shifted downward, spotting the pink haired VIRTUAL SINGER with her head down. With curiosity locking MEIKO in its jaws, she slowly made her way over to Luka, peering down.

"Luka?" MEIKO called out in a light query, expecting for Luka to lift her head and respond to her. Instead, she didn't move an inch. MEIKO called out again, but softer this time. Still, no response. The brown haired girl frowned, kneeling to Luka's sitting level. "Hey, is everything alright?" MEIKO spoke, giving Luka a soft shoulder nudge. She then noticed that Luka was slightly trembling. More concern hit MEIKO's facial features as she placed a gentle hand on one of Luka's arms.

Finally, Luka lifted her head up ever so slightly, quickly glancing at MEIKO before pulling her gaze away. In that brief moment, MEIKO saw small tears in Luka's eyes. She immediately spoke up again. "What's wrong?" She paused, noticing Luka was trying to not maintain any eye contact. MEIKO let a small breath escape her. "You can tell me anything. We're VIRTUAL SINGERS and we help others, including each other." MEIKO gently smiled. Silence stretched across the two girls until Luka suddenly took a small, shaky breath.

"Just.. thinking.." Luka mumbled, quickly getting MEIKO's full attention and concern again. "Thinking about what?" MEIKO pressed, sitting down on the grass next to Luka who then hesitated on what to say next. Instead, another soft sob slipped through her composure. "Luka.." MEIKO frowned with a soft sigh. "I never seen you like this at all.. did something happen with the other VIRTUAL SINGERS?" MEIKO guessed, earning a small head shake from the other girl.

"What if.." Luka started, slowly turning her head toward MEIKO. "What if I'm not good enough? What if I'm the VIRTUAL SINGER here that's dragging everyone down? I feel a little left out nowadays, and I can't help but to think if it's because I'm lacking my lack of talent in singing.." Luka suddenly ranted out, the more she spoke the more her voice wavered and softly cracked. MEIKO froze, not expecting these types of words to leave Luka's mouth. As she was trying to find a response, Luka spoke again.
"Isn't that what VIRTUAL SINGERS are made to do? Isn't that what I'M made to do..? Sing, right?" Luka welled up with another series of tears coating her blue eyes. "If I can't do that.." She whispered under her breath. "I'm worthless-"

"Luka." MEIKO cut the pink haired girl off with a rather firm tone of voice. Her gaze hardened as she turned her body to look at Luka properly, and now sit in front of her. "Look at me, okay?" She gently placed a hand underneath Luka's chin to slowly tilt her head up. "No one here thinks your bringing us down. No one said that, and no one will think that." MEIKO looked into Luka's sorrowful eyes before bringing another hand up to Luka's eyes to wipe away her tears. "You are our most talented, beautiful, and sweetest VIRTUAL SINGER here. Don't let these gloomy thoughts get to you like that."

Luka hiccuped another sob, her chest heaving a little. She closed her eyes as MEIKO removed her hand away from her chin. "Sure, we're made to sing and dance. But we're really made to help and encourage others. To make them feel like they have a purpose." MEIKO spoke again, grabbing a hold of Luka's hands. "And I know you're talented in that for sure," she smiled, rubbing her thumbs over the other girl's knuckles. Luka stayed quiet with her eyes closed and head dipped down.

MEIKO shifted a bit closer to Luka before wrapping her in a warm embrace, hearing her silent weeps. "If there's anyone who appreciates, and loves you the most, it'd be me for sure." MEIKO whispered gently. Luka sniffled slowly returning the embrace with a small smile slowly replacing the frown on her lips. "I.." Luka cracked out. "Love you too.." She tightened her hugging grasp around MEIKO's body as she did the same.

Chapter 10: rehearsal ♡ - shizuairi

Chapter Text

Shizuku and Airi had a history that stretched back even before the idol group "MORE MORE JUMP!" formed. Their bond deepened as they spent countless hours together. Today in Stage SEKAI, practice loomed large. It was just Shizuku, Airi, and Miku, ready to rehearse.

Airi perched on a stair step, absorbed in the lyrics of "Romeo and Cinderella." Memorizing the song didn't faze her. It was the thought of singing with Shizuku that sent her heart racing. She should have been accustomed to it by now, yet an unexpected wave of emotions surged within her.

“Airi-chan, are you ready?” Shizuku’s soft voice broke through Airi’s concentration. She turned, feeling a tightness in her jaw. A slight nod followed. “Yeah,” she exhaled, pushing herself up. Their costumes matched the song's theme, adding a layer of excitement and nerves to the practice.

As the music filled the air, the trio moved in sync. Everything flowed smoothly until the climactic moment approached. Airi's breath quickened as Shizuku stepped closer. The gentle smile on Shizuku’s face both comforted and unnerved Airi. That closeness was unfamiliar territory.

Airi's cheeks warmed, and she instinctively stepped back, breaking character. The music halted abruptly. Confusion flickered on Shizuku and Miku’s faces as they watched Airi struggle to regain her composure.

"Airi?" Miku spoke up, tilting her head as she walked up to the girl. "Are you okay?"
"Ah — yeah. I’m fine,” Airi responded, brushing off the moment with a shaky voice. Clearing her throat, she added, “We can... uh... start again.”

♡ . . .

The rehearsal resumed. As they neared the pivotal moment again, Airi tensed. Shizuku approached her, and Airi fought to keep calm. She held her breath, but her nerves betrayed her, freezing her in place.

Shizuku frowned softly. "Am I doing anything wrong?" She rubbed the side of her face with worry as Miku stepped closer, offering reassurance.

“Uhm... Airi.” Miku's voice softened. “Are you sure everything’s okay? You get really stiff every time Shizuku gets close to you…”

Airi sighed, releasing her held breath. She lowered her gaze slightly. “Sorry.. I don’t know why I’m doing that.” She shrugged, meeting Miku’s gaze. “Let’s try again..”
Miku nodded, smiling gently. “Alrighty.” They both returned to their positions.

Airi noticed Shizuku’s lingering gaze. It was as if Shizuku wanted to say something but held back.

The third practice rehearsal of the day felt different. Everyone had quickly memorized the first part of the song. Airi gathered her thoughts, watching Shizuku approach her again. This time, though, Shizuku’s light blue eyes sparkled with a fierce determination. Airi felt the intensity of that gaze. It was focused, almost magnetic.

Before Airi could utter the lyrics they were supposed to sing together, Shizuku surprised her. Soft lips pressed against hers, silencing her words completely. Airi jolted back, heart racing. “Wha—?! Shizuku?!” The shock in her voice was unmistakable. She never expected Shizuku, of all people, to kiss her so suddenly — let alone a kiss!

Shizuku covered her mouth, a soft laugh escaping her. “I’m sorry.. I thought you wanted..” Her voice trailed off, realization hitting her. She averted her gaze, sensing the weight of her actions. Airi relaxed her tense shoulders, wanting to ease the moment. “No, you’re okay..” she replied, attempting to sound nonchalant despite the tremor in her voice.

Miku stood off to the side, a giggle escaping her lips as she let the two girls have their moment. Eventually, Airi and Shizuku turned to her, cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Miku met their gaze with a teasing smile. “It’s okay, you two. We can take a break,” she said, stepping toward the edge of the stage.

Airi glanced at Shizuku, arms folded. “Jeez, Shizuku... you could’ve just asked,” she said playfully, a hint of amusement in her tone. Shizuku chuckled lightly, the tension easing between them. “Maybe I could’ve...”

Airi nudged Shizuku’s shoulder as she walked past her. “Don’t tell Minori or Haruka about this, ‘mkay?” She glanced back, trusting Shizuku to keep this secret. Shizuku nodded, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Make sure to tell that to Miku, too..!” she added, following Airi with a playful bounce in her step.

“Definitely,” Airi replied, a smile breaking through her earlier shock.

Chapter 12: lost confession ♡ - shizukasa

Chapter Text

The after-school bells rang throughout Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy, echoing the end of another day. Shizuku stepped outside, sunlight glinting off her long, light blue hair. She squinted, struggling against the brightness. As she pondered the absence of her friends and the unusual quietness at the gates, her phone vibrated in her light-cream jacket. She took a look at her phone screen, noticing everything was upside down. Shizuku tilted her head sideways, instead of just flipping the phone right-side up. Eventually, she flipped her phone the correct way, spotting a notification from Airi.

<"Hey, Shizuku. Me and the others aren't at Miyamasuzaka if you're wondering. Just STAY right where you are until I come to get you."> Shizuku read through the message a couple times, but completely overlooking the most important part to stay where she was. Nevertheless, Shizuku replied while making multiple typos and placing random emojis in the process. Shizuku tucked her phone away with a soft hum. "I wonder what they might be doing..?" she mumbled, resting a hand on her cheek, curiosity bubbling within her.

The urge to find her friends overwhelmed her patience. With that, she walked away from the Academy, completely disregarding Airi's message.

♡ . . .

Meanwhile, with earned permission from Kamiyama, a decent amount of people stood in front of the school to witness the confession.
"So, who's the lucky person?" Rui inquired with a calm smile, looking over at Tsukasa who was fidgeting with adrenaline. "Well! Glad someone finally asked!" Tsukasa held his head up a bit more, showing off the rather wide and large sign he picked up. It read the words; "Do you love me, Hinomori Shizuku?" in strong, bold letters. Below, two blank boxes waited for a response: “yes” or “no.”

Emu gasped, her eyes wide. "Woaah!! That's so cool, Tsukasa-kun!!"
"I honestly thought you were going to go on top of the roof and do dramatic stuff.." Nene glanced at Tsukasa, shaking her head while Rui calmly chuckled. "Well, if we had permission. It'd be a possibility." He commented, getting a judging stare from Nene. "..I was joking, Rui."

Airi checked her phone, glancing up occasionally. Minori noticed the tension building up within Airi. She glanced at her with a hint of worry in her smile."You okay, Airi-chan?" She slightly tilted her head, causing Airi to look up from her phone screen. "Yeah, though.. I have a feeling Shizuku didn't stay where she was." She mumbled. "Do you want me to check on her?" Haruka questioned. "It won't take long."
Airi lightly shook her head. "No, it's fine. I'll do it," she took a breath before walking forward. "Make sure things don't get out of control when I'm gone."
"Yes ma'am!" Minori nodded, putting her hand up to her head like some sort of playful solute. Haruka lightly laughed at her gesture.

. . . ♡

"Oh.. where am I going..?" Shizuku spoke under her breath, the realization finally clicking in her head. She looked around, noticing she was awfully lost like any other time. Shizuku continued to wandering around until she reached the Scrambling Crossing. She hoped no fans would notice her presence at the moment. Luckily, the Scramble Crossing was a bit close to Kamiyama High, so it didn't take long for Airi to spot out a confused and lost woman which was her friend.

"Shizuku!" Airi's voice reached Shizuku's ears as she turned around with a small gasp escaping her at Airi's sudden appearance. "Oh! Airi-chan-"
"Why didn't you stay where you were? You ended up getting lost!" Airi cut off the taller girl's words, a hint of disappointment in her tone. "Luckily I found you here. Follow me," Airi lightly grasped Shizuku's wrist, guiding her away from distractions.

Eventually, Airi and Shizuku approached and stopped at Kamiyama as Airi turned to her. "Stay here, please." She looked into Shizuku's eyes, the firmness of her gaze reassuring. "I’ll be right back." With that, Airi dashed through the open gates, leaving Shizuku behind, her mind racing with questions.

"She's here, everyone! Get into your places!" Airi called out, her voice ringing clear yet soft enough not to reach Shizuku's ears. Tsukasa stood frozen in front of the school, gripping the sign tightly. Around him, classmates shuffled into position, excitement buzzing in the air.

Airi guided Shizuku to the entrance of Kamiyama, allowing her a moment to absorb the scene. Shizuku stepped onto the pathway, her eyes dancing over familiar faces. Then she paused. Tsukasa caught her eye, and in that instant, he inhaled sharply. Words lingered on his tongue but refused to form.

It was as if her presence rendered him speechless. Shizuku tilted her head, a hint of confusion crossing her face as she read the sign he clutched. Her eyes widened, and she instinctively covered her mouth. Tsukasa's heart raced at her reaction, his nervousness overshadowing his earlier resolve. "Oh..! Oh, I.." Shizuku stammered, her gaze now locked on him. Tsukasa's tension mounted as he watched her smile gently, a blush gracing her cheeks. She glanced at the small boxes labeled "yes" and "no," but without a marker, she opted for a different approach. With a delicate touch, she pressed her finger onto the "yes" box. The crowd leaned in, anticipation weighing down on the silence.

"Yes..!" Shizuku beamed, her calm smile radiating warmth. The moment erupted in cheers, a wave of joy washing over the gathering. Tsukasa, speechless, dropped the sign in disbelief. "Sh..." Tsukasa breathed, locking eyes with her. Their expressions mirrored, his nervousness fading into sheer happiness. With a rush of emotion, he stumbled forward, enveloping Shizuku in a gentle hug. "Shizuku!! Thank you!" His voice quivered, tears threatening to spill as joy surged within him. Shizuku melted into the embrace, the world around them fading away. In that long, affectionate hug, they found comfort. Despite the mix-ups, it was a confession that blossomed beautifully.

Chapter 13: clothes and pancakes ♡ - mizuaki

Chapter Text

Akito sat in an empty classroom during the lunch period at Kamiyama while waiting for his other friend, Toya, to make a return. He stared down at the lunch in front of him with a bored and spaced out gaze. From the corner of his eye, he spotted someone with light pink hair that was peering through the tall glass windows outside of the classroom. Before Akito could raise his head, Mizuki waltzed in and approached him.

"Hey, Lil' Bro!" Mizuki cheerfully greeted, crouching down to the desk's level and putting their elbows on the surface. Akito squinted at that nickname Mizuki nagged him with. But, it was honestly a surprise Mizuki showed up to Kamiyama since they act like there's no attendance. "Oh. You're actually at school." Akito paused, noticing that glint in Mizuki's light pink eyes. He sensed an idea brewing, and it didn’t sit well with him. Mizuki nodded before standing up and plopping into Toya's empty chair.

"Are you doing anything after school?" They questioned with a curious tilt to the head. Akito oddly stiffened a little at the question. What was Mizuki up to? And why did it randomly make Akito on edge? "No..? Why?" Akito breathed out an hesitant response, only making Mizuki's cat-like grin grow a bit wider. "Weeeelll.. I was wondering if you want to go shopping with me? Makes it ten times better!" Mizuki leaned in, looking Akito dead in his olive colored eyes.

Akito softly grumbled to himself, shaking his head. "Look. I already do enough of that because Ena forces me." He sighed in a stressful manner. "Besides, I don't need you to drag me around just to hold bags for you-"

"There's a pancake shop close to the mall," Mizuki interrupted, propping the palm of their hand against the side of their face while watching Akito's gaze slightly soften. He dropped quiet, staring at Mizuki. Mizuki stared back, a grin still wiped on their face. They knew Akito couldn't give up pancakes. "Fine." Akito murmured under his breath, causing Mizuki to lean in closer. "Hmmm? What was thaaatt?" They teased playfully, getting that same irritated look Ena always gave them when teasing. "Fine," Akito repeated, a bit louder this time. Mizuki sat up in delight. "Thanks a lot, Lil' Bro! See you at the mall after school!" They snickered, hopping to their feet and dashing out the classroom.

"Stop calling me that!" Akito called out in annoyance. Just then, Toya finally entered the classroom, noticing the ginger haired boy's slight irritation. "Did I miss something?" Toya blinked calmly, taking a seat. Akito sighed once again with a head shake. "..Nothing at all."

♡ . . .

The school day eventually came to an end as Mizuki waited by the gates to spot Akito. This whole "shopping" idea was just an excuse for Mizuki to spend more time with Akito. Mizuki waved their hands over their head once they spotted Akito from a distance to catch his attention. "Ready?" Mizuki eyed Akito walking up to them. He slowly nodded. "I'm only doing this for the pancakes.." Akito mumbled out a half-lie, averting his gaze. Mizuki grinned. "Whatever you say, Lil' Bro!" They walked ahead with a happy hum.

The two entered the mall. They both practically knew the entire mall like the back of their hand, but for different reasons. Mizuki tugged on Akito's black hoodie he wore over his school uniform as they pointed over to a small store with cute and stylish dresses. "Over here!" Mizuki guided Akito who already looked fed up with this agreement. He tried to focus on the pancakes he was promised to get afterward. He followed Mizuki around while they were slithering through countless of dresses until one caught their eye. Mizuki brushed their fingers against the fabric of a light pink and white small dress that a mannequin was wearing.

A small gasp left Mizuki's throat as they observed the dress more. "This is super cute!" Mizuki beamed while checking the size and the fair price. They turned to meet Akito's bored gaze, tilting their head in disappointment. Yet, they knew Akito wasn't going to enjoy any of this. "Hey, c'mon! It's only been a few minutes! You'll be eating those pancakes in no time." Mizuki reminded with a playful grin before getting one of the staff members' attention.

"Could I try this on?" Mizuki questioned, pointing at the dress with excitement. The staff member nodded politely. "Of course! Right this way," they guided Mizuki to a changing room after giving them the right size of the dress. Akito stood outside the changing room with a tired sigh. This was like shopping with his big sister all over again, just minus the attitude. He closed his eyes for a moment, picturing light and fluffy pancakes waiting for him, then a brief image of Mizuki's cheery face flickered into his mind. Akito opened his eyes, blinking a few times in confusion. "What the.. why did I see.." He trailed off, noticing the door to the changing room opened.

In front of him was Mizuki dressed in the lovely small, light pink and white dress they had adored. Akito's eyes widened a bit as a weird fluttery feeling bubbled up within him. "It's a perfect fit!" Mizuki giggled, swaying side to side as the dress swayed along the air. "Do you like it?" Mizuki eyed Akito, clasping their hands behind their back. Akito opened his mouth just for no words to come out. Mizuki took notice of the soft tint of pink that grazed Akito's face. A smirk tugged at their lips. "I'll take that as a yes!" Mizuki lightly laughed again. "I'll buy it, then!" They disappeared back into the changing room to slip back on their school uniform.

. . . ♡

The shopping spree continued, and as expected, Akito carried the bags. But, Akito didn't feel that irritation or overwhelming boredom as time went on. He focused on Mizuki often, watching their reactions to clothing and cute accessories they were fond of. Before he knew it, they were both walking out the mall.

"See? That wasn't so bad!" Mizuki snickered, lightly nudging Akito in a playful act. "As promised.. we can go to the pancake shop nearby." They nodded, smiling at Akito's demeanor shifting. "Yeah," he replied rather quickly, excitement creeping into his tone. Mizuki could definitely tell he was waiting for this moment.

They both arrived at the pancake shop as Akito's eyes darted downward at the different types of pancakes on display, swallowing down his hunger. Mizuki couldn't help but lightly laugh at his sudden shift in personalty when it came to pancakes. Mizuki wasn't hungry at the time, so only watched Akito order plain pancakes while they both waited. "You're sure you're not hungry? You'd be missing out." Akito glanced at Mizuki who shook their head. "Hehe, I'm good. Just watching you being so excited over pancakes is entertaining enough."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Akito squinted, earning a snicker from Mizuki. It didn't take long for Akito's long-awaited pancakes to arrive, and also didn't take long for them to be completely wiped off from his plate. "Might as well just lick the plate too." Mizuki joked, a bit surprised on how short that took Akito to eat two layers of pancakes drizzled in maple syrup.

"I had a pretty good time with you, Lil' Bro." Mizuki smiled, placing their elbows on top of the table. Akito shifted his gaze toward Mizuki with a brief, flustered look crossing his face. "Oh.. um, same." He mumbled, placing the fork down on his plate. "Why are you blushing, Lil' Bro?" Mizuki pressed further, teasing with a laugh. That didn't help Akito in the slightest. "Who said I was blushing? I'm not." He horribly attempted to lie, the pink hue only deepening. "Uhh.. your face said so?" Mizuki responded, laughing more.

"I'm not! Okay?"
"Aww.. Lil' Bro's in deniiiiaaaalll..!"
"Akiyama.. I swear-"

Chapter 14: few more minutes.. ♡ - nenekasa

Chapter Text

Nene and Tsukasa both shared a nice and comfy hotel room for a couple days. Even though it was a new environment, their attitudes and personalities didn't change in the slightest. Well, that might've not been true.

Tsukasa lounged on the plush white bed, glancing down at Nene, who sat cross-legged on the floor. Her focus was intense, eyes glued to her video game console. Tsukasa sighed, feeling the weight of boredom wash over him. He sank deeper into the comfort of the bed, the soft covers cradling him. "Nene..." Tsukasa called, his voice tinged with longing as he tried to catch her attention. She barely acknowledged him, her concentration unwavering. "Hold on," she mumbled, pulling the console closer. Frustration bubbled inside Tsukasa. Would the entire trip be spent like this? He didn’t want to feel ignored for three days straight.

As he contemplated speaking again, a spark of mischief crossed his mind. Nene, unaware of his plan, tightened her grip on the console, absorbed in the game. Suddenly, warmth enveloped her from behind. Tsukasa wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. Nene flinched, almost dropping her device. The screen flashed “GAME OVER,” and her irritation flared as she saw Tsukasa behind her in the small reflection of the device. "It's been hours, Nene.." Tsukasa tucked his face into the back of Nene's long and thick greenish-gray hair, his words becoming muffled. She shot a glance at her own reflection, annoyance mixed with embarrassment. "Stop being dramatic.. this will be the last match."

"You said that countless of times..!" Tsukasa tightened his embrace, hoping to distract her. Nene remained silent, restarting the level she had just lost. Tsukasa scoffed quietly. This wasn’t working. He needed to break through her gaming bubble. Tsukasa noticed that Nene didn't pull away from the newly positioned hug. Surely, he thought Nene was going to complain about it, but she stayed perfectly quiet. He continued to hug Nene from behind while he spiraled in his thoughts.

As Nene's body grew tense at the rather difficult level she was playing, she was finally nearing the end, making some new progress. Just as she was about to finally beat the level, in a blink of an eye, the console was slipped from her hands. Nene looked up, noticing Tsukasa snatched the device from her. He met Nene's pissed off look, quickly rethinking his plan through. Tsukasa might just die by the hands of Nene at this point. "Give that back, idiot!" Nene snapped, jumping to her feet before attempting to reach her console. Tsukasa raised the device over his head with a shake to his head. "You've been on this for too long! At least give me attention..!" He frowned. Nene scowled at the height difference, standing on her toes didn't make a difference. She leaned against Tsukasa, still trying to reach for the console that was out of her grasp.

Tsukasa stumbled back a bit, his eyes widening. "Hey, wait - Nene, stop..! You're going to make me fall-" Tsukasa's words got caught in his throat once he lost his balance and met the floor below him with a harsh thud. It took him a couple of seconds to realize that add weight was on top of his body as well. Once Tsukasa's eyes adjusted, he noticed Nene fell along with him, resulting for her to be on top of Tsukasa. Heat rushed to his cheeks. Nene’s face mirrored his embarrassment as she scrambled off him, a deep flush staining her face.

"Look what you did." Nene mumbled, folding her arms as her gaze still locked on the device that Tsukasa still had.

"Me?!" Tsukasa shot upright, quickly putting a hand to his chest defensively. "YOU made ME fall over!"
Nene, brushing off the moment, rose to her feet and flopped onto one of the hotel beds, her posture a mix of defiance and frustration. "Well, if you hadn’t taken my game away, we wouldn’t be in this mess," she shot back, her eyes averted, irritation palpable in the air. Tsukasa held his tongue. Arguing would only escalate things. Instead, he sighed and settled at the edge of the bed beside her, his expression softening as he leaned closer. Nene rolled her eyes in response, annoyance flickering in her pale, purple gaze.

"I'm sorry, Nene. I didn't really think you'd get that mad." Tsukasa mumbled, only making Nene narrow her eyes a bit more. "..Now you know." She shifted, propping herself against the fluffy white pillows, her tension still visible. Tsukasa frowned, inching closer, the weight of his regret heavy in the small space between them. "No, for real." He whispered, staring at Nene with guilt in his expression. Nene blinked, a moment of silence stretching as she looked down, contemplating her next words.

With a gentle movement, Tsukasa laid his head against her shoulder, a silent plea for forgiveness. Nene let out a soft breath, the tension easing just slightly. "..It’s okay," she murmured, leaning into him, the warmth of his presence wrapping around her like a comforting blanket. Tsukasa smiled, relief washing over him. He shifted closer, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into a tender embrace. Nene closed her eyes, sinking into the softness of the bed, her head resting on top of his.

In that quiet moment, they melted into each other's warmth. The world outside faded away as exhaustion slowly enveloped them.

Chapter 15: clumsy baking ♡ - minoairi

Chapter Text

Minori paced around in her bedroom, anxiety mixing in with her thoughts. She had just invited Airi over to her house, but had absolutely nothing planned for when she did arrive! Minori glanced at herself in her tall mirror propped up against one of her walls next to her bed, her worried expression looking right back at her. The comfortable clothes she wore, meant for sleep, felt all wrong. "I can’t just go out there looking like this..!" she mumbled, frowning as she hurried to her closet, desperately searching for something more presentable.

A few minutes passed, and her time was slipping away. The floor was now a chaotic mess of disheveled clothing. Just then, a gentle nudge broke her focus. Samo-chan, her fluffy white dog, stood beside her, head tilted in confusion at the clothes littering the ground. Minori smiled, placing a warm hand on his head. "I accidentally made a mess.." she sighed, picking up the pile.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang, jolting her into action. She rushed to find something—anything—to wear. Samo-chan watched, tail wagging, thinking it was a game. Minori grabbed a random shirt and shorts, slipping them over her cozy pajamas. It wasn’t until she stood at the door that she realized she wore two layers.

Airi was behind the door, her smile shifting into confusion upon Minori's appearance. Minori placed her hand on the door frame, another hand still on the doorknob as she looked up at Airi with a panting and tired breath. The pink haired girl's gaze shifted downward to what Minori was wearing; the light blue otter shirt she mainly wore during idol rehearsals, and white shorts underneath her black pants. A confused laugh escaped Airi before she quickly stifled it. "What.. are you wearing, Minori?" Airi rose a brow, making Minori more aware of what she had put on. She flushed in embarrassment, an awkward laugh leaving her throat. "I was in a rush.."

"A-anyway! Come in!" Minori shuffled away from the entrance of the doorway as Airi stepped inside her household. Minori thought about Airi's cat allergy, recalling the fluffy face of her pet Samoyed. "Um! Are you also allergic to dogs, Airi-chan?" She placed weight on both of her legs, switching side to side as she couldn't stand still. Airi gave a light shake to her head. "Oh, no. I'm alright around them, don't worry." Airi slipped off her shoes by the door before entering the living room. She took a seat on the couch, watching Minori sit next to her in a tense manner. Airi glanced at her struggling to make eye contact. "You good there?" Airi spoke up, a hint of concern in her question. Minori clenched her jaw a little with a nod. "Ah.. yeah! Just thinking what we should do! Ahaha.."

Minori winced to herself. ("Why did I say that?! That was so unprofessional to say to a house guest!!") She squeezed her eyes shut as Airi eyed her with brief confusion. The two idol girls sat in silence for a few minutes as Minori shifted in her seat on the couch, still struggling to come up with something to do. "Do you have water?" Airi asked, snapping Minori out of her thinking state. "Oh! Y-yeah! In the fridge!!" Minori leapt to her feet, almost on autopilot, and sped-walked toward the kitchen to fetch water for Airi.

With nothing to do, Airi followed the tense girl, taking in the new scenery of Minori's kitchen. Minori handed Airi a bottled water once something clicked in her mind. "Wait, Airi-chan.. do you like baking?" Minori asked with wide eyes of curiosity. Airi took a light sip of the water, twisting the cap back on. "I mean, I like the process of it." She shrugged. "Why?"

Minori's hope blossomed further. "I was thinking maybe we could.. bake together?" She tilted her head lightly with a nervous smile tugging at her lips. Airi rose her brows in surprise. She never seen Minori in a baking mood before. "Oh, sure. Why not?" Airi placed her water down on a nearby counter, watching Minori get out the necessary materials usually for baking. ("I wonder how this will go..") Airi softly scoffed to herself, softly smiling at how excited Minori got.

"Wait, what are we even baking?" Airi spoke up again, making Minori pause. She turned to Airi as her excitement twisted into thought. "You didn't think about it first?" Airi breathed out a laugh of disbelief. Minori was all over the place. The image of cookies flickered in Minori's mind. "How about cookies? Chocolate chip?" Minori eventually suggested, getting a satisfied nod from Airi.

Minori turned back to the counter, blankly staring at the ingredients and kitchenware she had gathered, unsure on where to start. Airi came from behind her, placing the large and deep bowl in front of the other items. "First, you'll need a bowl," Airi started as Minori flinched at the realization. "Oh! Right! Why didn't I think of that?!" Minori lightly slapped the sides of her face in an effort to focus better. Airi lightly chuckled.

The ingredients of flour, butter, sugar, eggs, baking soda, and chocolate chips were neatly arranged on the side for later usage. "Do you have any vanilla extract?" Airi turned to Minori who stared back at her with her light gray eyes reflecting confusion on what that even was. Airi released a breath. "I'm going to take that as a no.." She mumbled, grabbing the butter and sugar. "I'll mix the butter and sugar while you dissolve the baking soda in some hot water." Airi instructed as Minori nodded, determination written on her face. Minori ran some hot water, grabbing the baking soda before becoming lost on what to do again.

Minori turned to Airi. "Um.. Airi-chan-"
"There's a smaller bowl next to you." Airi quickly said, her focus unwavering as she cracked a few eggs into the bowl. Minori glanced to the other side of her, spotting the smaller bowl. "Oh! Thanks!" Minori grabbed the bowl, back into action.

♡ . . .

"Wanna mix the rest of this?" Airi glanced at Minori, nudging the bowl toward her way. "Sure!" Minori happily chirped, grabbing the whisk as the unmixed flour and chocolate chips sat stubbornly on top of the mixed butter and sugar. Airi wiped her hands off with a paper towel, taking her eyes off of what Minori was doing for a few seconds. When she looked back, she stifled a laugh. Minori's face and clothes were dusted in flour, a ridiculous sight. "What happened now?" Airi shook her head with a smile, folding her arms. Minori took a few steps away from the bowl, wiping her face with her hands in a quick gesture. "The flour exploded on me!" Minori let out a sudden sneeze, sending more flour flying. Airi laughed, shaking her head again. "Okay.. next time, just wait for me to watch you."

"Right.." Minori sighed softly, cleaning her face off with a wet paper towel. She grabbed the prepared baking sheet for Airi to pour the dough onto, and together they gently slid the tray into the oven.
"Now we just wait." Airi set the timer on her phone, her eyes glinting with anticipation. Minori sank into a chair, blowing out a tired breath. Airi couldn’t help but smile at her disheveled state as she settled into the chair across the table.

"You know.." Airi started, placing her phone down while looking directly at Minori who quickly fixed her slumped position. "It was pretty fun baking with you," Airi admitted with a nod. Minori instinctively froze. "S-same here!" She stammered out, unaware of the heat rising to her face at Airi's smile. "You're so tense for no reason.." Airi smiled more, taking notice of the blush dusted on Minori's face.

Before the two girls knew it, the timer chimed on Airi's phone, signaling that the cookies were ready. With kitchen mittens, Airi carefully grabbed the hot, metal cooking pan before placing the cookies on a plate. Minori watched, eyes wide, as Airi worked with practiced ease. "They don't look that bad." Airi hummed with satisfaction, slipping the oven mittens off of her hands. Minori nodded ecstatically, watching Airi sit back down. They both took one cookie. "Three.. two.." Minori counted down as they both took a bite at the same time.

Instantly, they noticed something off. The cookies lacked the usual sweetness. Airi chewed slowly, then shook her head. "We.. really needed that vanilla extract.." She coughed lightly, the flavor not meeting expectations. Sure, the texture and softness of the cookie was perfect, but the flavor was really the main part of what really made a cookie good.

Minori placed her half eaten cookie back down with a small laugh. "W-well, at least we had fun, right?" Minori smiled with another small tilt to her head. Airi couldn't help but adore her small actions. "Uh-huh. I sure did." Airi responded with a nod. The two girls shared conversations, laughter, and a closer bond.

Chapter 16: argument ♡ - kaimei (nightcord at 25:00)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The gray abyss floated over the Empty SEKAI, where the six VIRTUAL SINGERS often kept their distance. Among them, there were MEIKO and KAITO. They shared a similar demeanor—cold, detached. Their interactions were rare and usually led to tension.

MEIKO and KAITO were paired up for an upcoming song that involved the rest of Nightcord at 25:00 later on. It was unusual for two VIRTUAL SINGERS to perform together. As they practiced, silence hung in the air. Minutes passed with no words exchanged. Then, after finishing the first verse, KAITO glanced at MEIKO, his eyes narrowed. "You're lacking." KAITO spoke with his usual ice cold tone. MEIKO's head snapped directly to KAITO, a look of confusion and outrage crossing her features. "What?" She squinted back, her tone matching his cold demeanor.

"You heard me the first time." KAITO turned, placing a firm hand on his waist. "You're lacking behind. It's like I'm the only one singing." He watched MEIKO's expression shift to a pissed look as she crossed her arms tightly around her chest. "What makes you think that? If I'm being honest, you're the one that's lacking." She shifted her weight to her other leg.

The banter kept escalating further and slowly grabbing the other VIRTUAL SINGER's attention around the Empty SEKAI. "What's this about, hm?" Luka questioned with a curious smile, attempting to slowly approach KAITO and MEIKO, only to be stopped by a soft hand on her shoulder. Luka turned around, her surprised gaze landing on Miku who shook her head gently. Len sunk behind Miku, holding on to her closest arm for support as the argument would continue.

"They're arguing again." Rin folded her arms, observing from a distance. Len softly whined, shaking his head. "They.. need to stop.." He murmured as Miku silently agreed. "Let them solve it themselves," she spoke. "It'll eventually all come to an end." Miku confirmed. MEIKO dug a glare through KAITO after her words were said. She turned around with a faint huff leaving her, leaving the scene, and KAITO. The blue haired VIRTUAL SINGER's gaze fell to the floor below him before he noticed the rest of the VIRTUAL SINGERS' presences from afar. Without any words, KAITO also left the scene in the opposite way MEIKO had left.

Len's gaze softened as he looked up at Miku from the side. "You.. were right." A timid smile shook on his lips. Miku slowly nodded before looking ahead. "Hopefully.. one day they'll sort things out.." she whispered to herself.

Chapter 17: under the weather ♡ - polyshow

Chapter Text

Nene laid in her bedroom, her bed covers pulled snugly to her chin as she let out a congested breath. Usually, she avoided illnesses. But with the flu and allergy season in full swing, it had found her. A shiver raced down her spine as she let out a soft sneeze, followed by a groan of exhaustion. "Ugh.. why.." she muttered, reaching for another tissue from the small box beside her.

A faint knock echoed from her closed bedroom door. "..Come in," she coughed lightly, rubbing one of her heavy eyes. She expected her mother or a loved one. Instead, Tsukasa, Emu, and Rui stood there, unexpected and bright-eyed. Nene flinched slightly at their sudden appearance. "W-what are you doing here—" she started, but a coughing fit interrupted her. Concern washed over her friends as they took in her sickly state.

"We came to check up on you," Rui said, folding his arms tightly. "With permission from your mom, of course." Emu was the first to rush to her side. "Nene-chan!! Are you okay?!" she pouted, tilting her head with worry. Nene blinked, pushing down the urge to sneeze again. "I've been better.." she sighed, shaking her head. Tsukasa and Rui stepped further into the room. "We've got light snacks for you," Tsukasa said, offering a small bag of chips along with other treats. Nene nodded slowly, feeling a bit detached from reality. "Oh... thanks.."

Rui squinted, noticing her delay. "Nene, have you gotten any rest today?" His gaze was steady, searching. Nene hesitated. Her unfocused eyes told him everything. "You should get some sleep. It’ll refresh you entirely," he suggested. "We’ll leave if you're—"

"No." Nene cut him off, then paused, rethinking her tone. "Um... no... don’t leave." Her voice softened as she averted her gaze. Silence filled the space until Emu broke it by climbing onto a spot of Nene's bed. Tsukasa flinched, shaking his head. "E-Emu! You can’t just—"

"It’s okay..." Nene reassured, turning away to sneeze into her arm. Emu snuggled up beside her, blissfully ignoring any worry about contagion. A small giggle escaped Emu. "Hehe, your sneeze is cute, Nene-chan!" she exclaimed, hugging Nene’s free arm. Nene closed her eyes for a moment, warmth spreading in her chest despite her cold.

It didn’t take long for Rui and Tsukasa to join in, enveloping her in comfort. She hadn’t realized how much she craved this warmth. The simple act of her loved troupemates visiting, knowing she was unwell, made her feel oddly cherished, even in her sickness.

Chapter 18: sleep in my arms ♡ - minoharu

Chapter Text

"Woah, Haruka-chan!! Your house is pretty!" Minori gasped, still standing by the door, her eyes wide with wonder. Haruka gently smiled. "It's nothing really.. my room is really the main attraction," she added with a light laugh, making Minori's heart flutter. This was Minori's first real visit to Haruka's home. They had a few hours free from their idol duties, a rare gift of time to explore each other's worlds.

"Do you want to see my room?" Haruka asked, tilting her head slightly. Minori nodded eagerly, quickly removing her shoes at the entryway. Once settled, Haruka approached her bedroom door. She turned to Minori with a sheepish smile. "It might look like Antarctica in my room with all the penguin stuff.." Haruka joked, and Minori giggled softly. When Haruka opened the door, a burst of bright blue and white filled the space. Minori's gaze immediately landed on a pile of penguin plushies beside Haruka's bed. "Aww! This is so cute!" Minori exclaimed, stepping closer to the shelves lined with even more penguin treasures.

Haruka hummed, sitting at the edge of her bed. "I try to keep it organized," she said, watching as Minori explored with wide-eyed admiration. "Well, you did a great job!" Minori replied, turning to Haruka with a beaming smile. "This is really pretty, just like you!" The compliment slipped out before either girl could think. Minori's face flushed as she realized what she had said. "Ah- sorry! I didn’t mean to—" she stammered, lightly slapping the sides of her face in embarrassment.

Haruka chuckled softly, shaking her head. "No, no. It's alright, Minori.. thank you." Her smile widened, a hint of pink creeping into her cheeks. "Here, sit next to me," she offered, patting a spot on the bed. Minori hesitated but inched toward the soft mattress, sinking into it. Haruka noticed Minori's lingering embarrassment. "Don't worry, Minori. It's okay, really," she reassured, placing a gentle hand on Minori's shoulder that snapped her out of her light daze. A small squeak escaped Minori's lips as her wide eyes met Haruka's curious gaze. "O-oh! Uh... what were you saying?" Minori managed, her nervous smile revealing the blush on her face.

Haruka waved off the awkward moment, shifting the conversation to lighter topics, easing the tension between them.

♡ . . .

As time passed, laughter filled the room. Each moment strengthened their bond.
"Goodness.. the sun's setting already?" Haruka pointed out, glancing at the window. Minori turned, astonished. "Already?!" she echoed, disbelief coloring her tone. "Maybe I should get going.." Minori mumbled, her gaze dropping to the floor, torn between wanting to stay and the need to leave. Haruka observed Minori's conflict. "No one’s forcing you to leave," she said calmly, getting up to sit more comfortably on her bed. "Are you sure...?" Minori asked, a hint of worry in her frown as Haruka adjusted her pillow, propping it against the headboard.

"Mhm," hummed Haruka, pulling the covers snugly around her lap. Minori's frown twisted into a nervous smile, her head nodding slowly. "Alright..!" She caught that look in Haruka's eyes, the silent plea urging her to sit beside her once more. Minori settled next to Haruka, her body gradually unwinding as drowsiness washed over her. Haruka glanced at Minori, who was struggling to keep her eyes open, and a soft laugh escaped her lips at the silly and adorable sight. "Go to sleep, Minori. I’ll be here," she whispered gently.

With heavy eyelids, Minori finally surrendered to sleep, her breaths becoming slow and even. Silence enveloped the two idols. Haruka periodically checked on Minori, her heart swelling with affection. Then, with deliberate care, she wrapped one arm around the sleeping girl, pulling her close. In her dreams, Minori mumbled incoherently. "Nnnooo.. Samo-chan, don’t eat thaaat.." she rambled, turning slightly to snuggle against Haruka's arm. Haruka chuckled softly, warmth flooding her chest. ("Cute..") She thought, knowing she'd have to wake Minori up eventually. But, she took in this sweet moment of her and Minori, blissfully cuddling each other into the night.
