While on the job, you end up making friends with certain daycare attendants that make your life a little harder, and end up having to balance out your growing feelings for them and the fact that you know you can’t be with them.

After all they are just machines, bound to a company you are growing to hate. But what happens when they are no longer bound to that company? When they can truly be yours?

Chapter 1: Meeting the Sun

Chapter Text

To say you are nervous is an understatement.

Starting a new job is so nerve racking, but you're still a little excited!

It’s not everyday you get hired to work literally your dream job.

Why is being a security guard at a daycare your dream job? Well, you like children, and you're good at being a bodyguard, so being a security guard can’t be that different. And when you found out that Freddy fazbears entertainment needed a security guard in the daycare of the Mega Pizzaplex, you were thrilled!

You parked in the employee only parking, how convenient and nice.

Walking into the front doors was a little overwhelming with how all the neon lights seemed to shine down onto you with the force of a thousand suns, and the music was a little too loud, but this place seemed like a great place to work.

“Hello. Please state your name.” A bot rolled up in front of you, it’s body skinny and grey with two wheels for legs.

You were told in an email that you would be trained by a bot, this must be that bot.

You tell it your name, smiling as you shift your weight nervously and try to ignore how cool it is to be talking to a robot.

You’ve always thought animatronics were cool.

“Welcome. Please follow me.” It stated monotonously before rolling off. you jog quickly to catch up with it, following it into an elevator that leads to a second floor with photo booths and two more elevators behind those booths, oh and the daycare of course.

“As a security guard, you will work for most of the day, and only a little bit at night.” It explained as it exited the elevator, not waiting for you as it then continued in the direction of the daycare. “Your job is to make sure there’s no intruders inside the daycare, and if there is alert the daycare attendants, make sure the daycare attendants are working properly, and handle all customer complaints.” The bot explained as it froze just before a slide entrance.

“I must go to continue cleaning before the Pizzaplex opens. Have fun meeting the daycare attendants.” it said, voice as monotone as ever before it titled its head and gave you a thumbs up. You smiled at the gesture and waved goodbye. “Okay, thank you!” You called out as it rolled away quite fast.

Was…was that the only training you were going to get?

At least you knew how to do security stuff already.

You glance towards the slide before looking around. There’s no one here to judge you if you slide down, besides the real entrance looks so far away.

You climb into the slide and regret it slightly with how the slide turns sharply in a spiral shape before spitting you out into a probably never cleaned ball pit. Letting out a small laugh, you smile as you glance back up the slide before looking ahead of you.

This place is very bright.

You make your way through the ball pit, said ball pit being very shallow and easy for you to stand in and walk though, but you freeze when you hear a loud, bubbly voice.

“Ho ho ho!” A slightly high pitched and scratchy voice calls out as you stare up, a large sun themed animatronic stepping out onto a small balcony.

That must be the daycare attendant, your coworker.

You scream when he dives head first into the shallow ball pit from the rather high up balcony.

“Shit! Are you okay?!” You yell with worry, eyebrows furrowed as you scramble over to where the bot landed.

It gasped at your language, shooting up from the ball pit to grab you, picking you up and carrying you out as you let out a gasp of your own, tensing and wiggling slightly at the touch, and at the fact that you were picked up like you weighed nothing.

“Naughty naughty! We do not say profanity in the daycare!” It scolded, wagging its finger in your face once it set you down, its face still very close to yours.

“Uh- I’m uh- I’m sorry! But seriously are you okay?!” You asked, eyes wide as you stared at it before you tilted your head this way and that, trying to get a good look at its body to check for injuries. But it kept swaying side to side, so that made it difficult to do so.

“No excuses! Absolutely no profanity in the daycare under any circumstances!” The bot yelled, voice shrill from anger as it balled its large hands into fists.

This thing doesn’t have facial expressions, you quickly figured out.

That’s kinda sad, its smile was permanent and stretched across its flat face, but it made up what it would be able to express with facial expression to instead express itself more with its body language.

“Are you even listening?!” The bot scolded, waving its hand in your face before standing upright and tutting, its arms crossed over its chest like a disappointed parent. “So badly mannered.” It grumbled under its breath as you stood up straight and apologized, cheeks reddening slightly from embarrassment. “Right! Sorry sorry! I’m really sorry for cursing I won’t do that again and sorry for spacing out!” You rambled out before your hands went to your mouth, wanting to bite your nails but stopping when two large hands gently pulled your own away from your mouth, then let go and clasp together behind the bot's back.

“But are you okay?” You asked worriedly, forgetting about the touch to your hand that made your cheeks redden slightly. At your words the sun animatronic relaxed slightly, its shoulders slumping as it nodded quickly.

“Yes yes I’m quite dandy! You don’t need to worry about your pal Sun!” The bot explained, to which you now know the name of is Sun. How fitting.

“Okay…if you're sure.” You mumbled, your own shoulders relaxing as you shifted your weight and glanced to the side.

“I’m uh… the new security guard, so I guess we will be working together from now on!” You explained, grinning as you held your hand out to Sun to shake its hand while giving it your name.

Sun didn’t shake your hand.

Its shoulders stiffened and it almost felt like its smile did too, but that is impossible since it can’t move its face. “A new…security guard.” It mumbled, voice dropping an octave before bouncing on its heels and cupping its cheeks while leaning forward.

“How exciting! Well new friend, you can go sit at the security desk and look pretty! But there is one very important rule!” It spoke, grabbing onto your wrist before leading you towards the security desk, which you protested with a small huff, but followed anyway.

You decided not to comment on it telling you to look pretty.

“You must keep the lights on at all times! Under no circumstances are you allowed to turn off the lights!” It explained while wagging its long finger before giving you a hardy slap on the back… for encouragement you think? It’s slap just made you let out a small wheeze, though. Once the two of you reached the security desk, it leaned down to your level.

“Promise you will keep the lights on?” It asked, holding its pinky out to you as you smiled and nodded. “Mhm. I promise.” You said while linking your pinky with his.

He seemed to brighten with your words, perking up before nodding and letting go of your pinky, which made you then let go of his to instead clasp your hands behind your back. “O-Kay!” Sun said before shoving you in the direction of the security desk, making you stumble a little, but you were fine.

“Just stay here and I’ll do all the work!” Sun explained before skipping off.

“Oh. okay. Bye then.” You mumbled out, waving goodbye to him as he started to greet the small children that were steadily entering the daycare through the slide.

Directing your attention to the security desk, you see a note left with your name on it.

Picking it up, you let out a huff as you sit down and start reading.

Welcome new employee! We are happy to have you here and…

You skip past the corporate welcome to instead look at the actually important things left on the note.

To access any computer or technology in the pizzaplex, the password will be 1983. If you find that a computer does not use that password, that means you are not meant to access whatever is in said computer. So don’t try. While in the daycare, you are mainly there to keep customers happy since there were too many complaints from less than satisfied parents concerned with a lack of human staff. So all you need to do is make sure the daycare attendants are behaving, and you’ll get your paycheck.

There will be two nap times, one at 12:00 pm and another at 5:00 pm.

Have fun with your new fazbear family! But not too much fun.

Sincerely,

Your boss.

Wow. This note was so welcoming.

Whatever, this job is easy, and you won’t have to deal with managers or your boss much. Plus if you can make friends with Sun, maybe you’ll like the job.

Question is, why is everyone referring to Sun, the daycare attendant, like there’s multiple of It?

Taking a glance around, you assume there may be another attendant, one who, judging based off of Sun’s gimmick and the posters featuring a moon themed animatronic, you assume there is another attendant hiding around.

pulling out your phone, you do some research.

“Wow.” You mumble to yourself, reading how there is in fact two daycare attendants, and the moon version only comes out when the lights are off.

That’s so cool!

You also read that the two daycare attendants are referred to as he/hims, got it!

But a thought crosses your mind, if Moon comes on when the lights are off, then why is Sun so adamant about keeping the lights on?

Maybe he just wants more time to be out and about..? sharing a body must be hard after all.

You pause when you see a child running away from Sun, crying.

Your eyebrows furrow as you lock eyes with the child, said child then running towards you and behind your security desk to cling onto you.

Sun tensed and stood a few feet away from the desk, his hands held out to try and coax the child back to where he was.

“F-Friend! This area is off limits! Let’s not bother the security guard! Why don’t we go play? I have coloring books!” Sun stuttered out, voice shaky as he kneeled down, his arms held out wide to invite the child to hug him. You watched with furrowed eyebrows as the child clung onto your pant leg.

You glanced towards Sun, worried about what to do. Sun only stared back with his blank white eyes, but judging based off of his tense shoulders and hunched over body, he was stressed.

“Hey sweetie.” You said gently to the little girl, slowly leaving your chair to kneel in front of her, gently prying her little hands off of your pant leg, holding her hands instead. “What’s wrong?” You asked, and Sun watched you with fidgeting hands as you talked to the little girl, and despite looking like he desperately wanted to swoop in, he didn’t dare cross the threshold between the daycare and the security desk.

She cried and suddenly hugged you, wrapping her arms around your torso to bury her snotty, tear stained face into your shirt.

Gross, but you don’t mind.

“Hey, it’s okay. Do you wanna go play with Sun?” You asked, and she shook her head no at that.

Sun tensed up and curled in on himself more, his voice box making a strangled sound like he was about to talk, but stopped himself.

Poor Sun.

“Mr. Sun is scary..” She mumbled into you. You gently rubbed her head.

Her fear was valid…Sun wasn't… the most welcoming looking, but that still made you cringe to hear.

Sun deflated at the comment towards how he looks.

Poor Sun.

“Hm…well what if I play with you? We could play anything you want! You suggested, smiling nervously as you did so.

It’s fine if you leave the security desk, right? The note said all you had to do was make sure the daycare attendants were behaving, it never said you couldn’t leave your desk.

She looked up at you before nodding, sniffling and pulling away to instead hold your hand as she did so. “O-okay.” She mumbled out.

Sun brightened and stood up, backing away with his hands clasped together.

“Grrreat! I’ll just- just be with the other kiddos!” Sun explained with strained joy in his voice before skipping away to where other children were, the children cheering at Sun's return before they started to climb him, much to his dismay.

Poor sun.

Taking the little girl's hand, you focused your attention away from Sun as he wrestled kids off of him, and you smiled as the little girl wiped her tears away while you led her towards the craft area, judging by the paint brushes, crayons  and paper surrounding the tables.

You sat down in the tiny children's chair, your knees against your chest as the little girl sat next to you, drawing with you.

The two of you sat in silence until you pointed to what looked like a drawing of her and you holding hands.

“That’s very good! Do you wanna be an artist when you grow up? You have enough skill to be one.” You praised with a smile, which made her grin up at you and nod.

“Mhm! I wanna draw when I grow up!” She explained, very happy as she showed off her drawing, which made you clap and praise the child’s drawing like it was the greatest thing you had ever seen.

You were smiling as you caught a glimpse of Sun staring at you, said animatronic kneeling over as he picked up a small mess.

When the two of you made eye contact, you gave him a small wave and smile. However he quickly looked away, his back to you as he stood up, body rigid like a wood plank before he then skipped away.

Weird.

You turned back to the little girl, who was still happily drawing away while you scribbled little doodles onto a paper.

Sun comes up behind you, his large hands slapping onto your shoulders as he leaned close to quietly speak into your ear.

“May I talk to you for a moment?” He quietly asked, voice low.

The little girl looked at Sun with wide eyes before looking at you, her little lip quivering when she realized you would leave.

“It’s okay! I’ll be back in five minutes, tops! And when I’m back, we can play even more.” You comforted her before gently patting her head and standing, following Sun as he took your wrist and led you away into a secluded corner in the daycare.

Sun faced you, using his back to block you from the rest of the daycare as he let out an artificial sigh.

“You shouldn’t be messing with the children. I can handle them by myself.” Sun grumbled out, his hands crossing over his chest as he popped his hip out, shoulders hunched as he did so slightly.

“Messing with the children? Sun what was I meant to do? Let her cry and force her to play with you? Besides, I'm allowed to leave my desk.” You huffed out, mirroring Sun as you crossed your arms over your chest, eyebrows furrowing as you glared at him.

Why was he acting so weird all the sudden?

“Yes.” Sun said, voice strangled. “But I don’t want you around the children. It’s my job to take care of them, and I don’t need you trying to replace me!” Sun whisper yelled, hands grabbing at his rays as he stared at you.

Oh.

Sun is worried he will be replaced.

“Sun, I’m not gonna replace you, and it’s okay to ask for help” you explained gently, which made him curl in on himself and step back a little bit, his shadow that you didn’t realize he was casting over you leaving as he gave you your personal space back.

“I’m not worried about being replaced.” Sun grumbled, wiggling in place slightly as he tapped his foot, his gaze directed anywhere but you.

“Sun.” You said, gently reaching your hand out to rub his shoulder.

He flinched away from your touch, backing away and tensing as he directed his gaze back to you.

Sun doesn’t have the facial expressions to glare at you, but it felt like he was glaring daggers into your soul right now, and twisting those daggers.

“Sorry.” You mumbled, embarrassed as you quickly retracted your hand. Sun just kept staring, his hands balled into fists now.

“But- I promise Sun, I’m not gonna replace you…and also you're awful at lying.” You explained, your hand going to cover your mouth as you grinned up at him with sympathy.

Sun sighed.

“I know…” Sun mumbled out, and like a cartoon, Sun slumped, his body drooping like a wilting flower as the large sun rays around his flat head retracted.

You chuckled and tried to fight back your smile. “It’s okay though, I promise I won’t replace you, but I still want to help you out! Dealing with how many children are in the daycare right now all by yourself must be exhausting.” You rambled out, your gaze going to your feet as you shifted your weight before looking back to Sun.

Sun’s body was rigid and upright, completely frozen as he stared at you, his hands fidgeting before he suddenly turned away once more, skipping away. “Clean up, clean up!” Sun yelled as he went to go clean up a tiny mess the momentarily unsupervised children created.

the conclusion of you and Sun's little chat? you figured out that he is afraid of being replaced, doesn’t like being touched, and is very weird.

You slowly make your way back to the little girl, who tells you her name the second you sit with her once more.

“Aw, your name is Susie? That’s such a pretty name.” You compliment, which makes her brighten and nod quickly before asking for your name.

You give her your name, grinning as you did so before following her as she took your hand and led you somewhere in the daycare.

“Are we gonna play another game?” You asked as you leaned down uncomfortably to let her hold your hand while you walked.

She must be only six or seven, judging based on her size.

“Mhm! I wanna play with the dolls!” She explained.

Guess you will be playing with dolls for who knows how long.

You played dolls with Susie for quite a while until you hear Sun call your name.

Turning to face him, you see Sun quickly making his way towards you, his hands grabbing onto your shoulders once more.

“It’s almost nap time! But no no no! we can’t have the lights turn off! You need to override the lights system through your computer!” Sun screeched, his hands pulling at his rays, the metal of those rays groaning in protest.

You reach out to pull his hands away from his rays, but when you remember how he reacted to you touching him last time, you pull your hands away with a small sigh.

“Sun I can’t override the lights, I could get in trouble.” You explained gently, which made Sun groan and curl in on himself, his hands balling into fists before he stood up straight once more, huffing as he put his hands on his hips.

“You have to! If- if you don’t then Moon will come out!” At the mention of moon, a few children ran to go hide in the play structures.

you watched them run away, your eyebrows furrowing as you stared at the few children that were not currently hiding in the play structures, said children that were watching you and Sun looked terrified, their eyes watering and their body’s shaking slightly.

“Sun, what’s going to happen if the lights turn off?” You asked, your gaze going back to Sun.

Sun’s face was right in front of yours, his hands holding your shoulders and squeezing painfully.

“Bad things. The children will be hurt. You will be hurt. You have to keep the lights on, please. Management won’t know, and I know how you can do it.” Sun explained with a strained and shaky voice.

You stared up at him, eyes wide and nose scrunched from the pain of his vice grip, But eventually you gave in with a sigh.

“Okay, how do I do it?” You asked quietly, your hand going to gently brush his hands off you, which he did quickly when he realized how tightly he was holding you, his hands pulling away like he had been burned.

“Sorry.” He mumbled quietly, rays retracting before he quickly made his way to your security desk, pointing to your computer as you sat down and logged in.

“You have the authority to change the lights schedule, so if you just go into the scheduled tab you should be able to.” Sun mumbled out, voice shaky and nervous before the lights suddenly snapped off just as you were about to click on the schedule tab.

Shit.

You’ll have to work quickly.

Sun let out a strained groan that made you look at him with worry.

“No no no- lights on lights on!” Sun screeched, his hands clawing at his face as he growled and struggled before falling to the floor, his body twisting and turning in unnatural ways while you worked quickly to find out how to turn the lights back on.

Sun's strangled noises suddenly come to a stop, complete silence following for a few moments before a raspy chuckle rings out.

“Naughty naughty…it’s past your bedtime! You must be punished.” A raspy and hoarse voice said from the darkness. However, the voice started growling and screeching in protest when the lights snapped one once more.

You let out a sigh of relief when you heard Sun’s voice speak up, sounding out of breath. “You did it.” He mumbled out before you were lifted from your seat.

“Thank you thank you! Oh you are the bestest friend ever!” Sun exclaimed happily, twirling you around as he hugged you before setting you back down while you blushed and tried to regain your balance, holding onto Sun's forearms to do so.

“Aw…thank you, but it was nothing.” You mumbled shyly as your gaze went to the children that slowly crawled out of the play structures like they were scared little mice.

Once the children leave you need to figure out what’s so dangerous about Moon.

You’ll ask Sun, he’ll probably tell you…maybe.

Sun waved his hand in your face.

“Helloooooo? Did ya space out again?” Sun asked with a tilt of his head.

“Oh uh- yeah sorry.” You mumbled out, looking up at Sun’s pure white eyes as he poked your nose. “You really need to work on your manners! No biggie! Your pal Sun will help you with that.” Sun explained, and even though Sun was always smiling, it felt like his smile was genuine right now.

You grinned up at him.

Sun then straightened up before skipping away to where the rest of the children were.

How strange.

You couldn’t stop yourself from giggling slightly at the weird antics of your friend.

You sat back down at the security desk, sighing as you idly flipped through the security cameras.

For a while there was nothing eventful, the most eventful thing thet happened would be Susie coming up to you to sit in your lap while you worked.

Which was absolutely adorable.

However, Sun was losing players to his games, many of the children taking naps on the floor rather than playing with sun, much to his dismay.

These kids really need a nap time, and even if you can’t turn the lights off, you are still going to make sure they are well rested.

You gently help Susie off your lap and you hold her hand before kneeling down and booping her nose.

“I’ll be right back, okay?” You said gently, which made Susie nod slowly with a pout on her face.

You smiled and rubbed her head before going into a storage closet, grabbing all the sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and plushies you could grab.

When you closed the storage closet door then turned around, you were met with Sun standing right outside, his hands clasped in front of his chest.

“Hiya friend.” Sun said, voice strained with fake happiness.

“Hey Sun! You okay?” You asked gently as you walked past him, setting up sleeping bags with blankets and plushies and pillows all around the daycare, which caught the attention of a few of the sleepy children. The children then climb into their sleeping bags before falling asleep.

Sun watched with a tense body, his hands clasped together so tightly he was making the metal groan. “I’m quite dandy.” He mumbled before turning back to you. You just smiled up at him softly with slightly furrowed eyebrows. “You don’t plan on turning off the lights, do you?” Sun asked, his rays retracting a bit as he did so.

“Nope! But these kiddos can barely keep their eyes open, they need a nap.” You explained gently as you smiled and looked around.

Wow. All the kids were putting themselves to sleep…they must be really tired.

Sun relaxed and started to clean up the daycare, but stuck close to you. “I suppose it’s a good idea to have them nap, even if it’s in the light.” Sun mumbled out, rays retracted slightly as he picked up a moon plush, staring at it for a few seconds before squeezing it and putting it in a bin with other moon plushies.

“Exactly, besides we can hang out a little now.” You smiled up at Sun, and he turned around to stare at you with a tilted head. “Hang out? With me?” Sun asked, voice getting a little higher pitched as he stepped closer to you, his hands reaching out to grab your shoulders.

“Mhm! As long as it doesn’t wake up the kids then we can hang!” You explained, your own head tilting as you grinned up at him.

Sun held back a squeal, wiggling in place before grabbing your hand and leading you to the arts and crafts table.

“Here! Drawing contest! Three two one go!” Sun quickly whisper yelled before he started to draw on a piece of paper with a sparkly baby blue pen.

Sun’s whisper yell was still pretty loud…but at least he’s trying.

“What! That’s not fair, I wasn't ready!” You laughed out as quietly as you could while you quickly got drawing too.

Your mind was blank though.

What do you draw?!

You draw the first thing that comes to mind, drawing a beach with a little crab, a setting sun, and a few beach goers enjoying themselves.

You don’t have enough to finish drawing the details when sun snatches the paper out of your hands.

“All done!” Sun stated, giving you what felt like a shit-eating grin despite the fact that his grin was permanently the same looking.

“That’s not fair I wasn't done.” You grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest as Sun tutted, his finger wagging In front of your face as he shook his head. “Plenty fair! I gave you ten whole minutes!” Sun explained before showing you his drawing while he looked at yours.

“Hm…I see the vision, but you could use some improvement.” Sun criticized while rubbing his chin like he had a beard, looking at your drawing like he was some kind of art critic.

“Rude.” You grumbled before looking at his drawing.

Sun drew a photo of the daycare, lots of children surrounding him as he stood in the middle, playing with a few children while you stood off to the side, playing with Susie.

“This is very cute.” You said before giving him his drawing back. Sun puffed up his chest and kept your drawing while grabbing his own back. “Thank you very much! I’m quite proud of how it turned out for only having ten minutes!” Sun explained before a wire came down from the ceiling, which made you gasp in surprise.

“I’ll be right back! I want to hang these up in my room.” Sun explained before zipping up, flying up to where the small balcony with red curtains was.

That must be his room.

Wait- Sun stole your drawing! Whatever, it’s not like you were gonna keep it anyways…

When Sun came back it was a while later, most of the children had woken up and were now running around as sun played with them, laughing and giggling together.

directing your gaze away from Sun, you cleaned up all the naptime equipment, setting it back into the storage closet before turning around and accidentally running into someone's rather hard chest, a metallic thunk sounding out from the contact.

“Ow- oh I’m so sorry!” You apologized, rubbing your nose that made contact with Sun’s chest plate.

Sun reached down and grabbed your chin quickly before you could move away to inspect your nose by turning your head this way and that, which made you blush and freeze up. Sun leaned down and tilted his head, making sure your nose was okay before straightening up once more and letting go of you, his body swaying side to side slightly as he did so.

“No need to apologize friend! I thought that we could maybe play a game! Me and the kiddos are thinking about playing tag, care to join?” Sun happily asked before stepping back to make more room for you to have space, letting you properly breathe without your breath bouncing off his chest plate and onto your face.

You smiled up at him and let out a hum as sun clasped his hands together, silently pleading for you to join.

“I dunno, I’m kinda tired…“ you mused out loud, which made Sun visibly deflate. His rays retracted so he looked almost bald as his back slumped so much it resembled a C.

“B-but I guess one game wouldn’t hurt!” You stuttered out, your smile nervous as you tried to make the sunny animatronic feel better.

It’s no biggie, you’ll just play one game to keep the giant robot happy. That’s easy peasy lemon squeezy.

“Yayyy!” A loud series of claps sound right by your ear, making you flinch away from the offending sound. Sun is none the wiser about your displeasure towards his clapping, his focus instead directed on the children behind him while he jumps up and down.

Turning his head, Sun turns his attention back to you with a pep in his step while moving away, his hands finishing his clapping as he keeps his hands pushed together by his palms.

“Right! So the game starts in…321go!” Sun yells in a flurry of words before poking your shoulder then running away.

it seems you are the person he has chosen to be ‘it’.

Your hand wipes your mouth to try and wipe away the smile that threatens to turn into a full grin as you give Sun and the children now scurrying about a small head start, then you run after them.

You target Sun for a little while, but you soon learned that he is surprisingly agile and much faster than you.

Unfair.

Sun indulges you however, pretending to slip and falling to the floor, putting on a dramatic show as you tag him.

“Tag! You're it!” You yell his way while you quickly run to safety.

“What?! Unfair, unfair! Can’t you see I'm so very injured from my fall?” Sun cries out like a damsel in distress. He lays on his back, one hand reaching up into the air like he would be able to touch the heavens while his other hand is splayed across his chest, right where his heart would be if he wasn't a machine.

You laugh as you climb into a play structure, climbing up a slide to hide away from Sun.

Is hiding cheating?

Maybe.

But are you tired and did you only say yes to Sun just  to make him happy?

Maybe.

You settle down in a corner, sighing as you back meets the soft cushions that were used as walls in this part of the play structure, however you sit up straight when you hear the heavy thudding of feet and hands as someone climbs up the slide.

Could it be just another person also trying to hide away?

Most likely.

But could it be the tagger?

Possibly.

You're about to run away until Sun’s shrill voice hurriedly speaks out. “Wait wait! It’s just me.” Sun explains, voice shaky as he climbs out of the slide and sits down next to you.

There used to be lots of room, but Sun took up pretty much all of it. Sun sat next to you, your knees knocking together while he hunched down, his rays retracting to avoid hitting the roof with them.

“I thought you were the tagger for a second.” You laugh out, your hand covering your grin as your teeth poke through your lips from the way you smiled so brightly.

The two of you were giggling like little kids.

“Yes yessssssss! Too bad that I am the tagger!” Sun suddenly tags you by poking you in the side with a long finger, making you jolt away from him with a gasp, not enjoying being poked where you are ticklish.

“I’ve been betrayed!” You yell out as he giggles and laughs while running away, which is just him crawling at a rather slow pace through the play structure to get away from you.

Was he going slow to make it easier for you to catch him or because he didn’t want to bump his head?

Who knows, either way you give chase.

However you fail and Sun gets away, jolting up and bolting away once he was free from the play structures maze.

You glared at the back of the sunny animatronics head before you spotted a child who was running past you. you quickly tagged the poor little kid with a small “tag you're it!” Before you ran away.

Your hiding spot? Your security desk to check the time.

Almost 5PM! Your note said that there’s also naptime at 5, right? You should override the lights system before it hits the designated nap time.

Pulling up the schedule tab, you change the light routine so that said lights wont turn off.

At least not until later tonight, but that’ll be when the children are home and when you are just leaving the daycare to head home as well, so that’ll be fine.

Friend.” Sun's voice rings out, sounding anything but sunny as you're promptly scooped up from inside the security desk’s boundaries, only to be set right outside of said boundaries.

“No fair! Being out of bounds is forbidden!“ Sun yells, voice shrill before he points to a corner with a little kiddie chair facing the wall.

“You are kicked out of my game AND put in time out for five minutes!” Sun screams with more force than necessary, hands balled into fists and posture rigid.

“B-but I was just-“ you tried to reason but were cut off.

“Nope! No buts! Go to timeout!” Sun states firmly before he shoved you rather harshly in the direction of the timeout chair, his permanent smile feeling more forced despite not looking any different.

“I will not tolerate cheaters! Nope! nuh uh.” You hear Sun say as you walk away, his shrill voice getting more distant as you leave him behind. You sit down in the corner, facing the wall with your knees to your chest and a scowl on your face.

So much for trying to be nice and keeping the lights on for himself without needing to be asked.

Maybe next time you’ll just let the lights turn off, see what happens.

You lean your arm on your knees as you prop your face up by your chin, huffing.

This is humbling and humiliating.

Hopefully five minutes pass by quickly.

Might as well space out while you wait, right?

Nope! you don’t get a chance to think because you soon hear a piercing scream sound behind you.

You stand up straight, the chair you were previously sitting on forgotten as it falls over and you rush to the sound of the scream.

On the floor lies little Susie, crying her eyes out and letting out loud, high pitched wails as she holds a scraped knee.

Sun is kneeled besides her, his hands hovering but never touching as his gaze darts from her knee to her tear stained face, then he settles on you with fully retracted rays and tense shoulders.

You mirror Sun, kneeling on Susie’s other side and gently pulling her into your lap, holding her close as you wipe her tears away. Sun doesn’t move, his eyes follow you though before he slowly retracts his hands.

“What happened?” You asked, voice worried as you carried the little girl to your security desk. Sun followed.

She was surprisingly light, or maybe you underestimated your strength when you decided you would pick her up.

you set her onto the desk, Sun following a little too closely behind you with fidgeting hands, his back hunched like he was trying to shrivel up.

“I-I didn’t mean to! I swear! Scouts honor! We were just playing tag and-“ Sun winces and pauses his rambling when Susie lets out another ear-piercing scream, wailing as you cleaned her scraped knee.

“I was just trying to tag her! I was chasing and chasing and little Susie was running so very fast and fell down!” Sun explained, his hands a flurry of movement as he fidgeted, his fingers scraping off paint from his hands before you suddenly grabbed his wrists to pry his hands away from himself.

You ignored how he flinched and tenses up more at the contact you initiated

“Please don’t hurt yourself. if you are gonna fidget, fidget with this instead.” You mumbled out, handing Sun a small ring that you had on your finger, it was a fidget ring designed to spin and be fidgeted with.

It was gold and had little suns and moons designed into the metal.

Why did you give Sun a ring that was special to you?

It’s your job to take care of him, and you also don’t want him to hurt himself.

When sun looked back at you, he didn’t say anything since you were already too focused on making Susie feel better, patching up her knee with a moon themed bandaid.

“There! All better.” You explained, smiling as you gave her boo-boo a little peck, which made her sniffle as she held back a smile.

You smiled and poked her side. “Oooohh! Do I see a smile?” You teased, poking her side once more as she giggled and tried to avoid your tickle attack.

She did not avoid your tickles. But you are merciful, you’ll let the little girl go.

Picking Susie up, you spin her around once before setting her back down.

“Alright silly goose, be careful, and if you knee hurts again come get me and I’ll make it better again.” You explained, booping her nose before standing upright.

You were smiling as you looked back to Sun, who was staring at you.

Sun was holding the ring you gave him tightly in a vice grip, his hands holding the ring close to his chest while he stared at you.

You really wish he could have at least some kind of facial expressions because his body language is so hard to read right now!

His shoulders were slouched just slightly, but still tense as he stared at you, his thumb slightly moving, no doubt feeling the patterns along the ring with the tip of his finger.

”sun?” You asked gently, head tilting as your smile turned more hesitant.

“Yes?” Sun took a step back from you, holding the ring close to his chest protectively.

Your eyebrows furrowed.

“Can I have my ring back? You don’t seem to be fidgeting anymore.” You explained, which made Sun quip back quickly. “But you gave it to me.” Sun stated, posture straightening in a challenge.

“Yes.” You straighten your posture to match his. “But it’s still mine, I just gave it to you because I was worried you would hurt yourself.”

“Worried?”

“Yes.”

“About me?”

“Yes.” Your tone is getting less patient.

Sun makes a strangled noise out of his voice box before quickly shoving the ring you gave him into your outstretched hand.

“You're not angry I hurt Susie?” Sun asked, voice wary as he tilted his head. You tilted your head back as your eyebrows furrowed.

“Why would I be angry? It was just an accident.” You asked, your hand tightly clasping around the ring once you registered the fact that Sun gave it back to you.

You smiled softly as you put the ring back onto your finger, to its rightful place.

Sun just stared at you, shoulders and arms slack against his sides.

“I hear a child calling my name.” Sun mumbled, voice dazed before he quickly and suddenly snapped his body in the opposite direction, skipping off and ignoring you as you called out.

Stupid, weird robot.

No no, you should call your friend that, he’s just a little unique.

You sigh before you go back to working, sitting down at your desk.

Maybe working with Sun isn't so bad, and once you get a chance, later tonight you’ll try to meet moon.

For now, you work.
