Chapter Text
There was a hashira meeting today, the first meeting since his death. Giyuu always arrived early to the meetings; he stayed out of sight until most of the hashira have arrived. He wouldn't dare be the first one or last one either one is awkward in his opinion. He shouldn't dwell on such trivial things. It shouldn't bother him he's a hashira, he's sure none other the other hashira nothing thinking about such things.
Giyuu had arrived first and stayed out of sight until just Muichiro was left to show up. He was glad when no one announced his arrival, usually Shinazugawa would give him a hard time about needing to arrive earlier but the man seemed to keep to himself today. Still being around so many people superior to him made him anxious.
Giyuu felt like someone was watching him, he always feels like someone is watching his every move judging his mistakes. But right now he knew 100 percent one of the hashira were staring, maybe all of them? He could hear them talking where they were all looking at him? judging him? Laughing? Is his hair was messed up, he couldn't lift his hand to touch his hair to check. Or maybe his uniform was wrong. Something had to be wrong.
He just wanted to leave but the meeting was about to start. Giyuu turns so if the hashira were watching him they wouldn't see him reach up and tug at the ends of his hair. A bad habit he knows, he could just turn around and look for himself if the hashira were staring but that would make everything worse.
“Tomioka-san today is a lovely day don't you think?”
It's Kocho, but how should I respond? Yes? Or maybe she's being sarcastic. Giyuu looks up at the sky and it's cloudy. Does she consider this good weather? Maybe I should say something else. I could probably get away with just a nod, yes that should work.
Giyuu nods, never looking directly at Kocho. It's disrespectful to directly look at the one superior to you. His uncle made that very clear.
“You to fucking high and mighty you cant even look her when shes talking to you?” Shinazugawa yelled approaching the two, Shinobu takes a step back but says nothing more.
Giyuu really wants to leave now, was he supposed to look at her? What did he do wrong? Should he apologize, should he look at Shinazugawa?
Giyuu just stared ahead and his face never changed. Under Giyuu's sleeve his palm was bleeding. He was pressing his nails into his palm to try and calm himself.
“Tomioka you really have some fucking gut ignori-” Sanemi shouts but was cut off but by Kagya Ubuyshiki clearing her throat. Senemi swears in his mind that someday he will kick Giyuu's ass or just kill the guy.
The meeting was called in order everyone went to sit down. Uzui’s eyes never left Giyuu, this time he made sure Giyuu couldn't sense it.
Giyuu was forever going to be in Kagya dept just for her timing. Before he went to sit down he opened his hand to look at the damage, it’s not horrible, just annoying. He just put gauze in his hand he would hate to get just the smallest bit of his disgusting blood on the master's floor. He quickly sits near Kocho, the only spot left he thought.
Uzui takes his seat right next to Giyuu, he can see the smaller man tense even more when he does so. He also notices how Giyuu tries to shrink a bit and lowers his head when the master starts talking. Tengen tries to look at Giyuu's hand; he didn't get a good look earlier. Was it an older wound or did he do it just then when Shinazagawa was yelling? Tengen couldn't really see Giyuu's hands.
There is a table and the Hashira are on the sides and the master is at the head. There are maps on the table, not much else. Tengen decides he is going to push his luck. He moves a lot closer to Giyuu while pretending to grab one of the maps.
Giyuu does not move, he just shrinks down a bit. Should he move over more, he would be too close to Kocho if he did that. Uzui would tell him to move if he was in the way right, he wouldn't hit him would he. He knows he has to stay out of the way. Giyuu scratches at his wounded palm, pain always seems itchy when he was nervous.
While everyone was still focused on master Giyuu still had Tengen’s attention. Giyuu was unaware of this until Uzui's hand very subtly and gently grabbed his injured hand. Giyuu freezes his uncle hated when Giyuu fidgeted with his hands, is Uzui the same? All he can do is keep his eyes ahead to scared to look anywhere else. Tengen just moved the hand away from the other and let go to pay attention to the master again.
Was he not mad? Why did he do that? Could he move his hand? Should he? Maybe he was worried I would get blood on the master's floor. He wants to go home. He wants to be alone. Uzui now thinks he's even more of a freak.
The meeting was over and Giyuu couldn't even tell you what was said at it. He is a horrible hashira. All the other hashira know what's going on and he's just there. Sabito would have been like Kocho and have a lot of information to give to master.
