Chapter Text
Is hierarchy a good or a bad thing? I have no idea, but unfortunately, we are forced to follow it. The weak follow the strong, the strong have the power; but in turn, they fight for absolute power.
It is sad to see how society is corrupted by a natural phenomenon, such as having abilities. It is sad to see how it is not possible to have a world in harmony, especially with those who have little or no power.
That is why I decided to write a book. A book where I could address all these issues, in the form of a positive message: "Everyone has something to offer". But something happened that I never thought would happen. An absolute social movement that escaped the authoritarian control by which we were governed.
Because of all the “chaos” that was present, my book had to be cancelled and removed from everywhere, leaving only a few copies of it.
You may be wondering, and what is the name of that darn book that plunged society into chaos for the people who govern our society? Well...
My book is called "Unordinary" by W. H. Doe.
Chapter Text
Narrator's point of view:
Location: Wellston Private High School.
A normal day like any other. No worries at all. Just a normal school, with normal students. Or that would have been perfect...
*BANG*
A loud explosion was heard in one of the corridors of the big school, where at the epicenter of the explosion was a boy with red hair and sharp golden eyes. He had just been hurled against a wall, smashing through it.
- What the hell is wrong with you, Isen!
Out of the smoke, another boy emerged from the hole created earlier. Black hair on the bottom and orange on the top, accompanied by red eyes, this is what the boy named Isen looks like.
- Blyke, you're an idiot! Why did you break my pen, huh?!
- Tch, it's the most useless part of that thing!
- I don't care!
Blyke, totally irritated, began to form a large amount of energy in his hands, ready to unleash it on his friend, now enemy. But before he could fire, another voice entered the conversation.
- Hey idiots, what do you think you're doing?!
Both young men looked at the new person. A boy with black hair and burnt golden eyes. He looked at his two friends, letting out a loud sigh.
-- John, don't interfere! -- Blyke and Isen shouted at the same time, irritating the boy named John even more.
- Bitches, I'm trying to go to the bathroom, how can you destroy it for stupidity.
Although that didn't change the posture of the two boys at all, who looked at John with some irritation, even though they knew they couldn't do anything against him.
- Look John, it's not my fault that silly Blyke smashed my pen when I entrusted it to him.
- I told you it's the most useless part of the pen!
- Shut up!
There was an awkward silence after that last shout from the black-haired man. He no longer knew how to calm down his friends at all, who were just doing stupid nonsense. Unluckily for the three of them, loud footsteps could be heard at the end of the corridor.
-- (Oh, oh...) --
- You three morons! Are you still little kids making such a mess?!
- W-wait, Doc, this is a mix-up.
John tried to explain everything, but the latter didn't care at all. He grabbed the black-haired man by the back collar of his uniform, starting to drag him along.
- And you two, come here too!
Without being able to do or say anything else, the two boys (who were responsible for everything) sighed and accepted their fate. On the other hand, John...
- Wait, I didn't participate in this! Let go of me, Doc!
- No, you're coming too!
And so, the three boys were dragged away by the school nurse, Darren.

John's point of view:
Blyke, Isen and I walked out of Keene's office, the security manager of this place. We ended up getting reprimanded for destroying a hallway, even though I wasn't a part of it all.
- Phew, at least it all worked out. Well, I guess it's time to get back to class. - Isen would say, ready to go.
- Yep, time to go. - Blyke followed suit. To which, I just frowned, ready to yell at them. But I preferred to just stay quiet.
I sighed, before heading to the bathroom, which was my original destination. During the long walk, I could hear some of the typical gossip that runs through the walls of this high school.
“I heard we won last week's Turf Wars.”
“Well, Arlo and Remi took it upon themselves to pull off a perfect win against Agwin High School.”
“Although I heard rumors that Thrinity wants to challenge Wellston.”
"What, are you talking about Thrinity, the number two high school that was only defeated thanks to Seraphina!
“That's right!”
Thrinity, huh? The number two high school in the region, where, like Wellston, there's a large accumulation of high ranks. And where...
I shook my head and continued on my way. I didn't need to think about that. It had been a long time since then. I had to learn to leave it in the past.
Once I was near the bathroom, I noticed something peculiar. There was a large crowd gathered next to the entrance to the men's bathroom. I sighed in irritation. Not again.
- Well, well, look at this little tadpole. Ha, ha, ha.
- W-wait... Ugh!
- Ha, you think you have a say in this? We decide when to stop, shorty.
I got close enough to see a red-haired girl hitting the bruised boy.
- That's enough, Illena.
- Huh? J-John?! - exclaimed a frightened Illena in surprise. She quickly tried to break free from my grip and backed away.
The bruised boy ran off in a hurry as soon as he was no longer the center of attention. I would have liked him to thank me, at least, but that didn't matter anymore.
- I thought you had already been warned about what would happen if you continued causing trouble in the hallways.
- Y-you see, t-that boy tried to make fun of us... W-we were just defending ourselves!
- Do you really think I'll buy that story?
My eyes began to glow, which meant my ability was active. That made the group of bullies even more nervous.
- You guys... Get out of here, you're blocking the entrance to the damn bathroom!
-- Y-Yes! -- they all exclaimed, running to the opposite side of where I was standing.
Once there was no one there, I finally entered the bathroom.

Narrator's point of view:
After finally relieving himself, the black-haired boy headed for the roof. The last thing he wanted right now was to get involved in another conflict. He was tired of getting into trouble that wasn't his to deal with, although sometimes he did so because of his values.
- (If only I could go get a mango) - he thought, with some sadness.
The black-haired boy reached the stairs to the roof, where he climbed, only to find everything completely empty. He smiled a little at the tranquility he found there.
Or so he would like to say, if it weren't for the presence of a certain blond-haired boy.
- Ugh, Arlo?
- I'm not happy to see you either, but at least I keep it to myself, you know?
- Anyway, it's weird to see you here. Did something happen?
- Something like that.
John approached Arlo and stood next to him, both looking out over the main courtyard of the school grounds.
- Well?
- ‘Well’ what?
- Aren't you going to tell me why you look so tense?
The truth was that the blond-haired boy looked totally tense, even nervous, which was unusual for him. John noticed this. Since he had met him almost a year ago, he had never seen him like this before.
- Let's just say that Trinity is challenging us to a duel for first place in Turf Wars - Arlo commented.
- And that's got you nervous? Wellston is number one in Turf Wars.
- You probably already know this, either from rumors or because Seraphina told you, but we only won because of her.
- So it's true, huh?
Although he had just heard some gossip about it a few moments ago, he already knew a little about it from the middle of last semester, when Seraphina was still participating in Turf Wars.
- Yes. Thrinity is a school with great talent. And while we also have a lot of high-level players, Thrinity still surpasses us.
John noticed how serious the blond looked. Although John didn't particularly like Arlo, that didn't mean they hated each other or didn't talk at all. In fact, if Arlo weren't a crazy neat freak, John had no doubt they would be best friends.
- There's still time, isn't there? - asked the black-haired boy.
- If an agreement can be reached between the two schools, the Turf Wars will be in a month.
- That long?
- Well, as I understand it, it's a special occasion.
John nodded at Arlo's comment. The blond was about to say something, but at that moment, they both turned at the sound of the handle on the rooftop door.
Seraphina, a beautiful young woman with short violet hair with slight greenish highlights and extensions of the same color, approached them. Her bright blue eyes, similar to Arlo's, looked at them with some confusion and doubt.
- Is today Opposite Day, or why does it seem like you're hanging out as friends?
Arlo and John glanced at each other and clicked their tongues with a grimace of displeasure.
-- I would never get along with this idiot! -- they exclaimed in unison.
They looked at each other again, and Seraphina could swear she saw a flash of intense tension between them.
Finally, with a sigh from the blond, he proceeded to leave.
- Wait, Arlo.
- What do you want?
- If you need help, don't hesitate to ask me. I know we may not get along so well, but you can still trust me.
Arlo just nodded and left without saying another word.
- I still think you and Arlo could be good friends.
- Do you really support me being friends with him, Sera?
- Who knows, maybe you'll be surprised if you try to get to know him. While I would normally say he's a jerk and manipulative, that doesn't mean he can't change. After all, we didn't get along before, did we?
They both smiled fondly at each other, understanding their friendly bond and knowing how they had become best friends.
- Well, do you want to go get some boba, Sera?
- Sure, why not.
With that, the two young people walked toward their favorite coffee shop, Woaba Boba, with smiles on their faces. Who would have thought that those smiles would not last forever...
Notes:
I hope you enjoyed this first chapter. I know it's a bit short, but I hope the chapters get longer as I progress. I hope so.
Another thing: maybe, if I get the chance, I'll be adding the skill charts shown so far to future chapters. Although that remains to be seen.
