Chapter 1: Session 1: The heck is this?
Chapter Text
☆----------------------------------------------------☆
None of them knew where they were, the three, the trio, now more united than ever, sat in a small box. Which was recognized as an office. It wasn't His though. He couldn't explain who he was talking to. But Himself…he was. Thinking.
The Heart thought.
Remembering.
For what or why? No idea.
...
(“As little as we were, finding anyone to develop attraction to seemed non existent. We never admired anyone. Or at least anyone in that way. Soul saw everyone as just themselves. Random people, who if lucky, we would form some friendship.
We were told about other…types of relationships later on.
We were always friends with boys. Girls were rare.
Mind would always ask random things. For being young, it had an assortment of things ringing in his head. It always wanted more or something different.
He'd hate any notion of us assuming to be liking any girl. It annoyed him but made me laugh. Soul was .. indifferent.
As we grew, the expectations of a “girlfriend” wasn't something we cared for. Wasn't in Sol’s head. The conversations of deviating from the “norm”...
Soul just agreed. He wouldn't talk back about that. Just nod and be done.
We'd just nod …and move along.
...
Considering the idea of the conventional, it didn't bother us. Sure it was kinda dumb. But…it didn't matter to us back then.… …”)
{“Do you wanna break…?”}
(“..... No.. it's fi- No. I'm good.”)
The Heart filled with his hoodie laces, circling around his fingers as they found the way back to their words.
(“ …Expression never really was a thing. It was but wasn't. It was in a way you could go however you wanted. But act? Hm.. not all the time. Being angry all the time never fit. Ah, but that's not what uh.. nope.
Later on in life, we wanted to try new things. Having nicknames help if we wanna find a name that's comfortable to use. Something to try and stick, or not. (Nicknames that sounded nice to hear without feeling the same.) … Being addressed as anything other than “sir”, “he”, or anything like that was interesting. Personally I didn't mind. But I still identified with that. What about you two?”)
[“I don't really care. It doesn't bug me or anything like that.”]
{“It's…! Heh, it's surprising .. It was surprising. .. But cool. Something new.”}
The Soul tapped their fingers together, looking down at their chair with its tail surrounding itself. Meanwhile Mind rolled its eye, but continued looking at…whomever.
[“It's entirely weird. But in an inside way. You are you, but you don't fully feel that you are you. As Soul puts it a lot.”]
(“Anyways. But what they said fit into those lines of questions. We always thought we were just “unconventional” to actually be a guy. But right now, I'd still say we are. Even if Apollo and Atlas could change that entirely. Hehe. Hm.
Where were we..? Ah. Mhm.
Later on, everything just…. stopped. ….My insides took hold, my breath dead, and my eyes clouded. …But I knew one thing. …This experience was different. She was. … And it was over. It hurt.
We were supposed to not like her. We couldn't. It didn't make sense.”)
[“Trying to form into whatever norm was our unconscious goal. Yet we failed. People are an interesting thing to lock eyes on. Observing their actions, lives, everything. Trying to “fit” somewhere. But fitting would be a feeling of subtle embarrassment from Heart. And doing anything comfortable was…. not welcome either.”]
(“Nah. We still tried. But it doesn't work out. … Feelings are weird. We're weird. …But I'd rather be weird and have Soul get anxious after sending an email (actually, tired of being anxious..) than erase this. I'd rather have you as you than anything. Even if you are a jerk mostly..”)
The Mind simply nodded, growing a smile across his face.
(“And …if we weren't like this. Then I don't know where we'd be. …Talking about any of that even felt …. terrible.”)
{“...it happens. …Finding anything to call ourselves feel meh. Don't hate what we're called.”}
(“{Ma'am} sometimes goes on games when everyone's sleep and trolls.”)
{“I can't lie … it's funny though!!???”}
[“Yeahhhh”)
(“.... Don't think I mind being unconventional. People are mostly right by appearance. But when not, I just wanna know how it feels. Cus…I wouldn't get the opportunity anywhere else.”)
[“Even if I don't care what to call myself. It doesn't really matter.”]
{“Through whatever this is. The feeling of uncertainty, fear, unsureness, and answers of comfort I so desperately crave…. I'll just keep trying. Even if I'm still late ahead of the game. ..hm. Heh. Ew. This became mushy….”}
[“End the session already.”]
(“Alright…fiiiiiiiine. …”)
End of session.
Chapter 2: Session 2: Heart complications
Summary:
A week after the last session, Heart returns alone.
Hoping for it to be in and out as soon as possible.---
Possible reflection, doubts, and no worries.
Notes:
Part 2 to whatever this is? This time it's Heart!
There's also just a person here. I don't know who they are, but they're a therapist.
This energy was something to write.
Heart's a complicated creature, but that's probably why writing him is somewhat comfort.HE'S STRUGGLING WITH SELF CARE!!!!
Idk who will be next. Maybe it doesn't have to be ONLY HMS. Anyways, enjoy.

☆----------------------------------------------------☆
One sat alone against the floor, it felt cold and uncomfortable. Yet he stayed.
He didn't care how annoying it was.
Is that all he ever thought?
(“.... It's hard to find friends. Opportunities mend together so rarely.
I mean. I have company. ….. just don't know what to do. Don't know what's wrong exactly with me?
Mind says I'm avoidant. I want the company, the laughter, the joy, the fun times. …. but. …..I just. Freeze. I don't know how to approach and just ask casually?! I talk, but I just…step away. I don't like it! But I know why it's like this.
People come back though. …
That's normal. Um. …Hmmm.”)
The Heart taps beside his blindfold, whatever staring at him gives them a eyebrow raise. They want to know.
They continue on. Tail beginning to rub against their back.
(“This…is normal? Why wouldn't it be…
….
…..I don't like being on edge. I don't like being confused and annoyed about things. Yeah, nature or whatever. ..
It's my own doing anyways! Typical Heart!”)
Whatever plain of existence in the room whispered towards Heart. A question, as they flipped through pages, probably records of some kind.
Juno?
Heart’s brows turned inward, mouth hanging down, like weights pulled down on the already fallen frown. Surprisingly..he contained the urge to tackle. Sinking into the floor.
(“I don't like that name anymore.
I don't know who that is.
I thought it's what I wanted to be. …What sh- …. Don't call me that.
Never say that…please.
I'm tired…”)
The person suggested a good night's rest for the emotional side…but he declined. The who was confused.
(“... it's physical. Maybe mentally? I never thought anything of it. Until now…
Soul.…”reminds me” to try exercising…or something… Not sure. I'm fine the way I am. I don't need that.
They always say stuff to help, but they never do!! I have to do it all on my own. I don't know how to do any of that?!!! Or they do help…but.. it just. I don't think they understand… she says she does…hm.
The sun… was nice today. It was good for me. ….I don't think it did anything.. It's.. Mind says stuff about dopamine. Eh.. Blah blah blah.. good happy sun chemicals. BLAH!!
…. It's.. right.”)
Heart huffed, they just wanted to leave this place. But obviously, the person wouldn't allow that, their session wasn't over yet.
They knew these were important for them…for Whole. And yet…..
The person returned to their papers, reading back everything again.
They asked if Heart had difficulties with anything.
He shrugged. They weren't wrong. But he didn't say anything.
….
(“You think any of this will actually help me?
I feel like I'm just not here. And I want to be here! But I'm throwing myself into a hole more farther than the one…I've dug.”)
The person asks what Heart's routine is.
He stays silent.. before cracking his knuckles.
(“Hmm. Uh. Oh! I get up, lay down for some minutes, maybe hours or so. Not counting.. Pet Darrell while Soul's out.
Put music on, …uhhh.. make some new additions to clothes. ..bug Mind. Heh.
…What else… HMMMMM. And then read sometimes. That's all.”)
The person’s face grows concerned, they ask about life skills. How does he do his mornings, his afternoons, his sleep schedule? His hygiene? His life???
He doesn't say. Just shrugs, looking if someone punched him or bumped into him on a bad morning. He pushed his hand against his own namesake, fingers feeling it beating somewhat fast. He returns to fiddling with his hoodie.
They don't know what the person’s expression is…he assumes it's disgust.
It has to be. He should be doing what any adult does. Living.
Still, he acts as if he's a child. Is he? That's what he feels like.
(“..I know it's important. I just don't… It's too much. I don't wanna do anything.
…I want to..? It's weird.”)
The person asks if he has any reminders or assistance with these things.
(“Mind is a constant. ..uh. Help? …I'm supposed to remember. I don't really need help with that. And besides, who would?
Something that I have to remember. …No one's going to. I'm all “grown”. And capable….or something..
…I want this session to be
over with.”)
The person nodded. They let Heart leave. Hoping that the next session will be better.
If it ever happens.

☆----------------------------------------------------☆
After that ordeal, nothing felt ok. All that talk for nothing. Maybe they were right. But they were just someone hired to help.
The ground sank. So I pulled.
My hair blew against the mild wind flowing through, my demeanor…not important. My brain..is fine. I'm fine. They're wrong. I don't wanna hear Soul. I don't wanna hear Mind.
I just want peace.
I approach the house, trudging through the sand. I hated the feeling on my feet.
I hated everything.
–
“{So..how was it?}”
Soul petted Darrell in his lap, seeing Heart was back already surprised him. He noticed the pout in the Moon’s lip, the way his shoulders slouched around while walking, the pound of each step..
The Heart brushed through upstairs, not even saying a hi or anything. Another pet came as Soul looked back to the stairs.
They got up, placed Darrell on the floor and followed. When they tried to open the door (hoping it was unlocked..) nothing. It wouldn't open.
The host huffed. They weren't worried though, this was just one of those days. Lune be upset, chill out, and everything would be back to how it was.
Soul marched to Mind's room, but it was asleep. Boo. Now who would they converse with now? Heart…not an option right now. He needed someone…
–
The Soul woke up. A bright morning welcomed it to…not a new day, no. This wasn't its room. Actually, this was His room. He got up, walked to the mirror to meet His gaze. Ah, of course, Him. He looked more tired than usual. Eyes sunken with a mean mug creeping in.
Soul tugged lightly at His curls, walking around the house with curiosity. Then froze in place.
{Wait…. OH SHOOT!}
It almost forgot. The Moon was still in trouble. Or just mad. But still! Whatever happened in their session must've ticked them off. Soul continued on curling their His hair. Thinking… thinking.
He got it. It got ready for the day, it was weird being in control fully. Normally just telling this guy to do things is easy. But…this? Unexpected.
Nonetheless, it trotted out the door and…it didn't know where to start. It didn't even know who to start? Did Whole have anyone to talk to? Judging by the talks of loneliness in Heart's wishes, he didn't think so.
Soul explored for a bit. Mostly forests to get the hang of this “body” thing. Tripping, swinging around on trees, random stuff like that.
That was until he climbed out of the woods and found some people. Rustling against the bushes made them look at him with suspicion.
{Oh no.}
They spotted him! One of them approached the bushes carefully, holding a weapon perfectly fit for this. The other two just watched. Soul nearly dodged the swing, shaking as he stared at the man wearing a beanie and skirt. Still shaking like a dog.
The man looked for a second, smiled, and reached his hand out.
“What are you doing in there? Almost chopped you up!”
Soul cautiously took the man's hand, suddenly lifting off the ground and right back down, shaken by such a thing while the man laughed. The other two, one with a pink complexion, heart earrings, also donning a smile came by. Followed by another who looked….out of place. His hair was barely done, a cold, almost anxious vibe rang from him. The clock around his neck didn't help.
“Hey! You can't just carry him like that, look at him!”
The pink one spoke, though Soul didn't really hear anything. The two colorful ones talked, one being cheerful and the other caring waaaaayyy too much. But this isn't what he was here for! They were here for Lune.
Soul stood his ground, tried at least, muttering quietly to itself, it hadn't talked ever after being in control. Would it still sound the same?
“Anywho! What are you doing in the woods, Har?” The pink one went on, while the other tilted his head.
“Maybe he just wanted to go on a walk. It isn't that weird.”
“Yeah. But he never does this. Sooo, what brings you out of your cave.”
“Fin..”
Fin. Why does that sound familiar? Soul shook that thought away. Thinking on what to say. What would it say?? “Hi I need advice to fix an issue with another person inside my head!” Hm. Well, it wasn't wrong. But they'd probably run.
It tugged His curls again, feeling like they were staring at it through multiple eyes.
Fin’s eyes wandered over in Soul’s direction, keeping a friendly face as she toyed with one of “Harmonia’s” strands. Confusing. Weird.
“We were just heading to the shop, you wanna tag along? It'll be more fun than staying inside all day, hm?”
It sounded good. They couldn't really do anything yet, their Heart was slow, normally it would be beating quickly. Now just…. almost quiet. Extremely worrying. Soul thought, if they went with them then he could fix this. Or ruin it. Only time answered such doubts.
Soul nodded and followed the three.
–
The shop was small and quaint, warm colors as soon as you entered. A mix of browns and blues, as well as more colorful things decorating the walls, little photos of people doing woodwork, a board littered with motivational quotes or just silly doodles. The floor creaked upon stepping inside, though it didn't matter. Piles of wood graced Soul with its presence as Fin tugged them along.
Dea, Fin’s brother, and the quiet one from earlier, stayed secluded in the corner of the shop. Checking his watch occasionally while watching out the window. It kept him calm. Sane even.
20, an odd name for a person, but swell. Lead the two to a table just near many others that took up space. Flipping the chair to its backside and sitting with his arms crossed on the top. While Soul and Fin sat as well.
What a weird place. A weird day. …He hoped Sun and Moon were ok. His head felt fine for the most part, but His Heart… it needed to figure this out already.
“A quiet day today. Seems like Sunday isn't much of a wood cutting day. Heh. But Har, how have you been? It's been..too long!”
20 smiled, not with the usual brightness that came from him every time, more concern.
Soul ignored his slow breaths, his head now starting to ache. It fiddled with His bracelets, what could it say that wasn't…. strange?
The two noticed Soul's nerves coming through, (they weren't always good at hiding anything.) He still tried anyway.
A touch caught Soul’s attention out of His head, Fin’s finger rubbing against Harmonia’s hand. It was soothing, something that wouldn't be done too often, or ever. They would do the same thing to comfort the halves. But this time, he also needed it.
His mutterings returned. Just speak. Spit it out. He knows these people. He would trust them. So why don't you?
Talk.
It took in a deep breath, preparing for either fear, or something lukewarm. Both bad in his eyes. He whispered at first. Just to see if he could even say anything at all. Everything felt stuck together.
Break it.
Say it.
He needs you after all.
Soul looked at 20 and Fin, who didn't yell, didn't force anything out of him. Just waiting… how nice. Why.
It turned away from the two, speaking at a soft tone, it was higher than Mind’s voice, much colder than Heart's. A noticeable grain effect layered over every word they said.
“{Uh. Hiiii.. You might be wondering, “why does he sound like this?” And great question! But before that…Hi, I'm…}”
He was rushing into this. Make it stop.
…He just continued with his …kinda sad introduction.
“{I'm Soul..}”
Both Fin and 20 looked in…awe? Not awe. Surprise? Maybe. Just sheer confusion with stunned faces. Then suddenly, giggling??? Mostly from Fin.
20 just grinned oddly at Soul. Adjusting his beanie as he spoke.
“Soul? And the voice… you're not joking with us, right? If you wanna be “Soul” then.. ok.”
Strange. How long have they been inside for? Do they know anything?
Soul sat there, hands sweating, knees shaking, oh what to even say! Why did he say any of this!!?
“How’d you do that with your voice? Some kind of trick?”
Fin looked up with curiosity. Like a cat. Big eyes shooting directly at the panicking Soul. Meanwhile 20 was still confused in his seat. Soul waved them off, he didn't have time for this. He could feel his voice echo more, becoming nothing but white noise. The louder it became, the more His head ached.
{Just shut up.}
Their teeth gritted against their thoughts. Pulling at His…hair. They couldn't. They shouldn't. They promised.
{We can't keep hurting Him. Why are you so mad? Why isn't it intervening?? WHY is everyone so USELE-
It hit the table. Trying to claw at nothing there.
20 took Soul's hands from across the table, despite the growls of pain and refusal, and kicking that definitely scarred his legs, he let Soul go on his outburst. Fin, who was scooted away much further, went to check on Dea. Seeing the chaos unfold just seats away. But just focused on everything else to ignore such stress.
The growls turned to screams, unbearable shrieks that a child would make if not taken care of. Though…something was off. Other than Harmonia’s demeanor. His eyes once a tone of browns and orange, now a deep dulled purple.
“Har-? Soul-? Please calm down! You're hurting yourself and me!”
{Hm..?}
“Please, just calm down, there's nothing guaranteed that can hurt you here. Other than yourself… What's happening?”
{Why are you so calm…)
(Why are you helping. I want to home.)
Soul jerked away from 20’s grasp, rubbing their hands before taking in deep breaths.
{Heart?}
(....)
{Are you ok?}
(......)
“Whole” stared straight at 20’s eyes, His own eyes returning to its normal state. The ring on His finger, though, changed color randomly. From reds to purples.
Once he saw him calming down, 20 reached his hand out once again.
“Har, is everything ok?”
The two halves stared, what was their answer?
He shook his head.
Well, a reunion this was. Everything they ever thought of them, ruined! (They're never going to talk to him again!) Fin hates him. 20 hates him.
“(You hate me.)”
(You…)
A pair of arms squeezed against him in seconds, “Whole’s” eyes didn't falter. He wanted them to.
20 hugged tighter, heavy breathing could be heard, being the only thing other than Fin and Dea’s murmurs. Until they also came and hugged him. A giant emotional train.
He didn't return the favor…desperate for attention and he doesn't even return such kindness. The emotional side, he is. Strange.
“We don't hate you. You know that.”
“And if we did, then.. you'd be a loner even more.”
“Fin. Again. Not exactly helpful now!”
Fin shrugged it off, a tease in a stressful situation. Dea patted “Whole’s” head in circles, the other two separated from him, but Dea stayed.
The Star and Moon felt at ease for once. It felt Moon’s coldness simmer. However that worked. The ring's colors merged into a shade of magenta.
Whole fiddled with his bracelet, a subtle jab at the beads and rope around his wrist, fueled with small huffs. His usual frown forming, without the anger that resided from before. More…content.
He yawned, the energy from today hit him hard. With all the shenanigans that led up to this point, …maybe a rest wasn't so bad.
–
The four exited the shop for the day. It was truly something. Dea leaned against Whole’s side, mostly staring at his ring than anything he was actually doing. It was getting late. The sun barely peaked out of the horizon. And the Moon would follow behind.
“Uh, so Har, you.. want to talk about any of that? If not, it's fine!”
20 waved his hands nervously around, continuing onward to Harmonia’s house.
Seeing people walk by and shops close, house lights turning off and street lights spring alive, Whole tapped 20 on the shoulder, whispering in his ear.
“<.... another time.>”
20’s body language changed from frightened to intrigued, and slightly relaxed. He held a thumbs up at him.
As Fin and Dea split ways from the group, 20 waved Whole goodbye. As Whole was about to do the same, 20 gave him something and sped off.
Confused, he looked down at his hand, inside laid a blue bandaid with a star design. He blinked at the gift before gripping it and heading inside.
Immediately falling asleep as he rested for the night.
The Star and the Moon were on the couch, also tired from everything that happened. Soul's arm around Heart, and Heart's arms around Soul's.
Darrell clucked, coming downstairs, followed by a freshly awoken Mind to boot.
“[Good evening you two, so, what did I miss?]”
The two groaned, Lune throwing a pillow at Mind and completely knocking her down at her feet.

☆----------------------------------------------------☆
“[What did they look like again?]”
The Mind says with Soul as the table, it was eyeing whatever Soul was doing. He'd ask about Heart and their adventure weeks ago, but they never fully explained. Only that Whole actually had people he found.
A miracle it was.
Soul drew, having just the finishing touches and names to fill out.
After he was done, it moved over the sheet of paper and pointed to the respective people. Its tail wrapped around the chair leg.
“{This is Fin, he's like..that one happy person who sees good in things. and kinda annoying.. but means well.}”
The Sun tilted its head, too suffocating for its liking. But not unbearable. It motioned Soul to continue on.
“{Thiiiissss is Dea, quiet, didn't really do much talking anyways. I don't really know much about him. Fine I guess.}”
It toyed with his horns as he watched Mind examine the picture another time, he didn't look too upset. A neutral expression laid on its face.
Next one to go.
“{And finally, we have 20, he's cool, we hung out in his shop. Strong guy though. Just as nice as Fin. So, any questions?}”
Soul smiled, their pupil grew big as they waited for something out of the logical side. Tapping their toes and swaying around.
Sun stayed quiet. Meddling with his earring while many things flowed through his mind, a curious set of ideas. Maybe. He tapped his claws into the surface of the wood, it making a harsh noise with every action.
After some time, it looked up at the Stars.
“[I’d like to meet them.]”
A wide expression came from the Stars, leaning into Mind's personal bubble with many noises. Too much energy.
“{Wait, you?! You wanna meet people…like this? No offense, but you don't really come off as….uh. …”people” person, Sol.}”
“[I never said I wasn't. Besides, it's better than staying and hearing Heart's.. opinions about socks.]”
“{...fine. So tomorrow morning then?}”
The Sun nodded.
The Stars face lit up. The Mind having friends? They felt proud. Not that they were doubting Logic, no. But..
It hoped nothing bad happened like last time. They watched Mind go upstairs, holding their fingers together. It'll be fine. Everything will be fine.
–
A new day, a new adventure.
Mind woke up to a bright light leaking into his room, light reflected through the window, adjusting his eye to the same old scenery. Same rug, fluffy and shaped like the sun. Same walls. Same realm of books.
That was about to change.
It went out of its room, seeing the others already up. It was off, especially seeing Lune up so early. It headed to the bathroom and got ready.
A while later, after all was done, Mind came downstairs to a hyper Soul and a mostly chill Heart. Ok, clearly they've switched personalities. Soul already grabbing Mind's arms and swinging them around in excitement. But quickly let go as seeing the uncomfortable look in Mind's eye.
“{Sorry! Just. Y'know, really excited! If anything happens, uh just let Him and us know.}”
“[How would that work?]”
“(Sense, Mr. Logic.)”
Lune grinned smugly, poking their head as Mind ignored their antics. Straightening its crown with a small huff.
“[Yeah. I suppose it's time to go. Sort of. Farewell.]”
“(Who says farewell?)”
“{BYE!!!!!}”
The two waved. Mind chuckled to himself as he waved back, heading out the door and into the white void.
The sand was coarse. His dress meeting the water, making it much harder to walk. The sea weighing it down with each step.
Soon, the split down the middle, an endless abyss into whatever laid at the end met Logic with a cold hello. A bit of dread rising in his head, but this was new. And it was stupid to let fear cloud such thinking.
It took a deep breath….and…
It woke up.
Immediately rising out of bed with a shake in His heart. It knew where he was.
As it walked around, it already got into what he was doing today. So no introspection. Later.
The Sun went to pick what to wear today. No diverging from Him. But it didn't want to stay 100% “Whole”. Whatever that meant.
After getting dressed, Mind looked in the mirror, the same face that met his, only more warmer. More full of life, or whatever life he wanted. His eyes were vibrant, yet his expression lacked that warm gaze it saw before. Curls the same as always. Freckles near the rim of His nose and cheeks, it was weird having another eye after… Hm.
Anyways. It searched through the cabinets, finding some make-up to work with. A dulled blue lipstick, perfect. The Sun applied the lipstick on his upper lip, moving them so it would be applied evenly.
He liked the simplicity of it. So, he moved onto his eyelids. Nothing crazy, just black eyeshadow.
He was satisfied. Smiling a little as he walked back into Whole's room.
Its eye caught nail polish on the desk, going for it as fast as he humanly could.
This was quite nice. Nothing hitting his head with thoughts. No worries. Just himself.
After its nails dried, it was finally time to venture out and meet them.
The same dance, it walked out the door.
–
The bright sun shone into her eyes. New. Exciting.
Mind trotted down the street, inspecting the various people around him, some people talking to each other. Others going on about their lives. Kids playing, adults bonding.
The air felt wonderful, it wanted to savor every moment of this. Maybe taking in too many breaths was too much. It had to stop after inhaling too far, coughing along its nice walk. But it was fine.
Flowers. Flowers smelled great, maybe they'd make a great addition to Headspace, he'd have to recommend that to Reasons.
As he was taking in this new day, something bumped into Mind, which took him out of his happy day.
He looked…very colorful. Too reckless maybe. His glasses shield his expression, various patterns filled his jacket, ones of pinks, blues, and purples. He had a devilish look to him. Which ticked Mind off. His smirk even more so.
“Huh, you're a rare sight.”
The man stared at Mind through his lenses, but Mind knew. It sighed, cocking his head to the side.
“[What's that supposed to mean?]”
Her voice was the same deep tone, she'd thought it would be different. It glitched and growled, keeping some respect for this guy while wanting to run away.
The guy was taken aback, which only fueled his intrigue. He took something out of his pocket and swiftly handed it to the Sun, still with that awful smirk.
“If you wanna hang out, here. I'll be seeing you around.”
And he walked away.
Weird.
It looked at the tiny piece of paper, on it had a number, [poorly written] and a note: sweet voice.
…
It put the paper inside its pocket and just kept on walking until it got to the shop.
–
What an eternity. It almost got lost, but as it saw some familiar faces wave him down, it looked like it was at the right place.
Entering in, Mind was flooded with greetings, too loud and inaudible to hear. It cupped its ears, waiting for them to get the message.
Fin immediately hushed everyone, (everyone being Dea and 20). But welcomed Harmonia with open arms.
To which Mind declined.
“Hi! Thought that would be the last time we'd see you! Sorry for being loud. But you're here!!”
Fin clapped, resisting the urge to shake Harmonia, so he shook Dea instead.
20 came with his arms to his waist, having a bright smile that Mind tried to ignore. 20’s brow rose, staring at the Sun for too long before backing up a bit.
“Huh! Different look for a change?”
Dea gave Mind a thumbs up, as well as Fin, who was just…so enthusiastic. How.
Its eye returned to 20, nodding in agreement with its arms crossed.
“[A change of pace. Something to break the ever-woven monotony that comes everyday.]”
Well, not what anyone was expecting.
They all appeared so surprised. Did he say something wrong?
“Um. The.. voice. How, why- what's going on!? Is it some voice changing thing??? And the pose.. Tell!”
Fin shouted across, though he was several steps away. Sun frowned but let that temper melt away, it exhaled. Motioning its claw hand towards itself.
They all huddled around Logic as he was preparing.
“[No. It's not a voice changing device. would be cool. No. It's… you all have different areas of your brains, your person, right?]”
They all nodded.
Mind continued, occasionally waving his hand around while speaking.
“[Well, just like everyone else, Whole- hm. Wait. No. Harmonia’s feelings, thinking, and inner self are more diverse than what you'd expect. Like his conscience in a way. But personified.]”
Fin’s face fell, squinting her eyes at Mind with possible confusion.
“Wait, wait, wait… so you're saying that..you're not…you?”
“[Hm. We're all part of the same person. I'm as him as he is me. But..I guess we have our own personality and things. We're usually just internal, I don't know why Whole decided that this was a new venture for us to have. Really messes with things.]”
“..why do you call yo- him? Whole?”
Dea softly asked.
“[That's what we're supposed to be. What we need to stay harmonized. If not…heh. Oh it's chaos. Like a few weeks ago. …Apologies for them both. I don't know what was going on with him.]”
Mind rubbed his hands together, seeing this being handled without flaw, such an oddity. Truly less chaotic than thinking on how it would be.
20’s eyes shrunk, he fiddled with his necklace hearing about everything. Why was this happening? How long has this been going on for? He approached Mind with ease. A bit of shaking in his voice.
“So that was..”
“[Heart. Well, later into the day. His emotions that day were.. unpredictable. Why do you ask?]”
Why did he ask? 20 stood silent for a moment, he just watched Harmonia’s face stare back at him with a dissatisfied look. A face that didn't really care all that much. His presence was cold.
If all of this was in his head, then this wasn't good.
“How long have you been like this..?”
Fin and Dea nodded, the clock ticked and ticked for an answer.
Mind's head began to ache. That didn't stop him.
“[A while now. Cannot remember when everything became so… I don't know. I can't answer that. But you don't need to worry, we have it covered. I just wanted to meet you all, so if that can be arranged for the moment. That would be great.]”
The words slipped out his mouth so casually. So formal. Every second of this felt like it was a joke.
But everything up to this pointed to no.
20 scanned Harmonia. Whatever his name was kept him presentable at least. He seemed tired. His nails were different today. His eyes…now a shade of blue, only one eye. The other black.
Did this happen with “Heart”?
Fin swayed in place, cracking his knuckles in a rather playful manner. Then a ring was heard near the door.
The four looked, seeing someone enter, darting over to 20, cowboy hat leaning over his face. He whispered into 20’s ear, and then nodded. He eyed …Harmonia, giving him a reassuring smile. Pitiful.
“Umm. Would you like to help me and Wicked carve wood? It’d be a great learning opportunity….!”
That smile.
It didn't have anything else to do. It never did. It shrugged, following the two over to a few tables. Sitting down and collecting three pieces of wood, each at the end corners sides.
20 went to get carving supplies.
Mind and Wicked shared a glance, before being interrupted by a cough. A cowboy? It thought.
“Haven't seen ya around these parts. From?”
“[Hm?]”
Wicked sighed, scratching the side of his face.
“Where. Are. You. From.”
“[Ah, ok. From a couple streets down. I didn't know we had any time travelers here.]”
“No time traveler. Just someone trying to get by.”
“[...Same.]”
Silence made everything better. Mind loved the quiet, but this guy..oh this guy, silence wanted him dead.
20 returned with some equipment and safety. He gave each of them a knife. You'd think with the tension, he wouldn't give anyone a weapon. But this isn't a weapon, it's a tool. He thinks to himself.
Wicked takes his knife, slowly chipping away at his piece. Seems like he already had practice.
Mind hesitated, the knife shined in place, the edges sharp and sleek. It being dull would be dangerous. Could hurt someone. Could even poke your eye out if not careful.
It grabbed the knife, gripping it tightly around his fingers, it's not going to fall.
He went for the surface of the wood, why, who knew. He didn't. Carefully cutting into whatever he was thinking on.
20 worried, going over to the others to check on them.
“You sure it's a good idea to give the blue one a knife?”
Fin pointed over with his hand on his hip.
Glasses now over his face, making the orange and brown more pretty.
“Noooo? What was I supposed to do? Keep prying? I just.. it's hard. I had a feeling something's been going on, I never knew where to start.”
“Maybe start slow?”
20 glanced around the room, overseeing the two continuing cutting their wood. Then back to Fin before planting his fist on his forehead. A weight of stress rustling in out of nowhere.
“That's always the best way. Thank you.”
“No worries. Now, I'm going to go get snacks. Dea’s staying here. You want anything?”
20 shook his head, but got an idea and whispered in Fin’s ear. She grinned and skipped out the door.
“What was that about?”
“Nothing. Do you wanna join?”
Dea shook his head. All that? Nope. So he returned to his lovely corner. Which 20 couldn't argue about.
20 went back over to see Wicked’s made ..a gun. Well, what did he expect? ‘Least it was fake. He walked over to Mind's, it was a three pointed crown with an ‘X’ symbol on it. The rest of the wood was carved with three other symbols. A heart with wings with a moon engraved inside, a three pronged trident, and a four pointed star.
Must've had to do with… he sat down in his seat, clapping at the two of them for their pieces.
“These are both great! Uh, the gun is.. questionable. But great!”
“You say this about every project we do.”
“It doesn't matter, because they still took work, and you're getting better. So that deserves praise!”
Mind poked at his creations with the knife, almost wrong in a way. They weren't out to get him. No one was. His fingers tapped against the table, but no scrapes or metal clashed between. She almost missed it.
“Um, Harmonia…?”
Sun raised its head, taking steady breaths at 20.
“[It's Mind. Yeah?]”
“....Mind. Uh, what did you make? You haven't made anything with wood, have you?”
“[Not that I can recall. No. But this is Heart, obviously.]”
He pointed to the heart carving, it sort of made sense.
“[This one's Soul.]”
This one was…. interesting.
“[Harmonia.]”
…..
“[And this one is me. My crown.]”
“..Why do you get a crown, someone special?”
“[Wouldn't I be?]”
Oh. Oh no. 20 froze. Rethinking his words as he tried to fix his mistake.
“Wait! That came off wrong, not that you aren't special, I just wondered why do you only get something that …yeah.”
Mind blinked. His eyes lowered as he stared at his “crown”, going through the motions.
“[It signifies leadership, power, control, order. Something you rarely have all the time. At one point, you sometimes doubt being in that position. But it fits. Because everything else, and everyone else is useless. No one takes your points seriously as they should. So, you must show them who's in control. Or, that's what I would've said. It fits me.
At one point, this crown made me feel that way.]”
“Were you in charge…at one point? Of…the- uh decision making?”
She went to the others, locking eyes with the heart. Her face grew cold, motionless, her voice, low and quiet.
“[Being in power makes your ego flood, your actions…aren't always good ones. And that can hurt people. Berate. Hate. Logic is useful, but at the time, I thought it was all that was needed.]”
“And what about now?”
20 saw Mind pick up the heart and trident, rubbing the wood (that he probably shouldn't be doing) against his hands, comforting. Feeling a warmth in His heart.
“[I still run by logic, but know it would be ridiculous of me to continue to reject everything else. That's what works. That's what makes us work. He'd be a rotting shell of himself if not.]”
“That's sweet.”
“[Mhm.]”
20 lended Mind a hand, reluctantly, he took it, giving a firm handshake to the logical side. He didn't feel the need to flinch.
Still did.
The two heard whistling from Wicked, showing off his creation to the others. Seeing that Fin was back, 20 raced towards her, remembering the stuff.
Was anyone impressed with Wicked's stuff? Not really cus he always made it EVERY TIME.
But 20 came back to Mind with something in his hand.
“I'm not sure if you wanted anything, so I just guessed and asked him to get you this!”
It was a cup of mint ice cream, no toppings, no nothing, just simple plain mint. The Sun's rays grew, humming a tune to himself as he saw such glorious wonders.
He took the cup out of 20’s hands, eating it in a timely manner.
“..didn’t know you still enjoyed that..”
There wasn't an answer. Only more eating. He enjoyed every bit of it, throwing away the contents after finishing up. Then sitting there after a while.
Messing with Whole's ring around his fingers, now resting his head on the table while humming that familiar tune again.
“[Thank you. You didn't have to get anything.]”
“I wanted to make it comfortable here.
I'm kinda curious, if it's ok.”
“[Go ahead.]”
20 rested his head against his arms, going with the flow on his question. Thinking on it carefully.
“You seem to have more…how do I put this, a different aesthetic (?) than Har. Do you have any differences to him than just personality? Just curious.”
Mind's demeanor changed, never anything he's been asked before. But who would ask this? No one knew, so there was never a chance to. He asked if 20 had any paper and pen laying around.
Somehow, he did, so he went to get it.
Once required, Mind sketched out his head, he'd never done this before. The others were better at this than he was. Still it persisted.
Once done with its self portrait, it went on to draw the other two. Why not. Better to explain with visuals than a description.
“[Done.]”
20 looked down at the paper, they all looked so different from each other. Yet still have that same life that Harmonia has. Before fully examining, he called the others over, which made Mind nervous. The more people to explain, the less it actually wanted to.
The others came and circled around, the silence returned.
Then left again as Dea pointed at Heart's picture.
“...what’s the blindfold for? How can he see?...”
“[..... Not my place to speak. But he can't.]”
“....then how can you…?”
Mind shrugged. And Dea returned to his seat.
Fin kept lingering over the drawing for too long. Longer than it hoped anyone would. Guess he liked it.
“You look lovely. Not what I imagined.”
“[What did you think we looked like?]”
“I don't know? Harmonia but…edgy?”
It was about to say something, but backed down against it. He wasn't wrong. There were edges but not ones that were easily found. 20 seemed to be lost in his own head. For good or worse. Fin bumped 20 on the shoulder, to which he awoke from his head, laughing it off as nothing.
“Edgy, yes! wait… It's nice to see other aspects of Har, understand what's going on. And now the blue makes sense! ..and the purple. Oh! I wanted to ask about that.. Is that side of him, ok?”
“[If everything was “ok” then I doubt we'd be as separate as we are. He wouldn't be irrational. Some days he's fine, other times he's… hard to work with. They're an odd creature.]”
They all nodded. Different aspects, appearances, moods, what a day.
“Ah. And the other one?”
“[The Soul, you met him already. It's both half of the same coin. Reasons. I don't see much reasoning at times. But she helps. Older of the three of us, the “responsible” one.]”
Older. So this wasn't a new thing that happened recently. They've been here for all his life? Another question emerged from 20, his expression more serious than before.
“Har said he would explain this another time. That was him, right?”
“[Yes.]”
“Then why isn't he able to say it himself. Why go through all the trouble of having to confide in you, or basically himself! Instead of us??? Haven't seen you in ages, I thought something might've happened to you. Something bad, and we'd be none the wiser! Just nothing! You'd just stay in your house, toiling with whatever issues you have and what? Suddenly you act different and then turns out, it's not you but it is?!
And this has apparently been happening forEVER??? And you didn't say anything???”
He just kept talking. Mind merely gazed at him. He sat uncomfortably in his seat, tugging at his necklace as it spoke through 20’s rant.
“[Your concerns are valid. However, we didn't ask to be here. We didn't ask to have any problems from the beginning. They just happen. He didn't want anyone worrying about such minimal issues, it didn't involve them, so why bother.]”
“..Why bother? I'm sorry but I think it IS my issue when it comes down to my friend being in pain. I can see it in his, and your eyes too. All of them. What Heart said… it stuck. Look, I'm not sure what's up with you, I can't even fathom this! But what we can do is..try talking about whatever's going on. Whether that's with you, or [you].”
Logic felt multiple hands pulling at once, his brows furrowed, his mouth hanging lower than before. Yet his feelings, surprised to himself, didn't. He just watched them hold his hands. It didn't want to care. Caring is what got them in this mess in the first place. Another joyful moment before it would return to drab and bleak. How many times was this the result?
“So, …Mind, just know that people care. You may be cynical. It's obvious. But you know that too. You're a cool guy to hang around.”
“More cooler than any other!
Is this helping….?”
It didn't respond. It got up quickly, going outside of the building, the ground like sand, the air thick, everything staring. The others followed him out the door in a hurry.
She knew they were behind her, but paid no attention. Her shoes started to become painful to step in, the sun, once its friend, now an enemy, stabbing it with its light.
New clouds formed as the light obscured, they all knew what that meant. Rain.
But Mind kept walking.
–
Soon enough, they followed him all the way to the beach, the rain began drizzling down. The cool air complimenting it with a breeze.
Mind stopped in place, taking off its shoes and socks. Finally. They watched as he fell to the ground, letting the rain cover him. Laying in the sand as it laid in his hair, while it found the whole thing uncomfortable in retrospect. It felt ok.
It could see the sun right through the gray sky looming above. And the overwhelming chatter behind him.
Fin came down next to him. Hm. He sat there, staring at the same thing. Looking for any conversation starter as she placed her hat on Mind's head.
“It's refreshing, yeah?”
It slowly nodded. Feeling the rain increase in flow.
“Heh, it's nice to cool off steam. Taking it easy.
Mind?”
It sighed. Rolling over to see what Fin wanted.
“[What?]”
“You hang out with us again? Not at the shop, that place doesn't feel like your style. Like out here? Or inside doing anything. I bet that would be less chaotic. What’cha say?”
The wind blew against the shore, the water settling down. Both in the sky, and near the ground. It messed with Whole's earrings while imagining. Just for a moment, hanging around these guys, for all that happened today. They really did care for Whole, and in turn, Mind.
“[.... Alright. But I'm picking something. Something cool.]”
“Whatever works.”
–
Back again.
He sat in a chair in an empty room, a room he was known to not inhabit.
A shadowed figure sat across from him, labeled The Therapy. Their notebook opened as they asked him about its day.
“[New. It felt weird. But also the same. I met his friends, they were…nice. Nice enough. The questions.. their faces. Some guy gave me his number. I don't know what Whole would do with that. Hope he doesn't get into trouble.]”
Therapy lifted their head from their notes, giving Mind a proud smile. Asking about them, and how good it was to socialize.
“[At first, the noises hit my head like a brick. They were so happy to see him. See me.. I explained the situation to them. …20 seemed very emotional about it. I don't understand why. Fin, even being obnoxious, was pleasant. Dea…ok.]”
It played with his drumstick necklace, pretending to drum while Therapy jotted down some more notes. Pointing their pen around at Sun.
“[They want to see me again. Said I could choose whatever I wanted. Fun. …They seemed interested in me.]”
Therapy continued writing down in their notes, tapping the end of their pen on their chin. Asking about how that makes him feel.
“[Ok. Fine. No idea what you're getting out of this, but I'm…happy. But don't tell Lune. My business isn't theirs.]”
But it is, they said.
“[Blah. Nevermind that. …. You think we'd be…ok to separate? Like…be our own?
I wouldn't want to harm Whole, but it is a thought.]”
They stopped writing in the notes, them facing directly towards Mind. A wide stare haunts Logic, then they return to their notes, sighing.
If that happens, what would become of him? They asked.
“[.....Not sure. But I think we're done here for today.]”
She got up and headed for the door, but not before looking back, its tail dragging across the floor.
“[See you next time.]”

☆----------------------------------------------------☆
Walking through these streets felt like strutting down a catwalk, eyes would follow along the model showing off the latest line of creativity. I was that model. The streets were my audience.
My guitar? Creativity. And she just needed the right form of it. Going over into the lights that lined out this place in a striking hue of red, my grip on the guitar's neck, and the thrilling anticipation coursing through me. I raised it up high…and SLAM!
It broke into pieces! Scattering plastic all over the place, the shards littering the ground, some getting stuck in my legs, but it was worth it! I do it again, and again and again!!! I couldn't get enough out of it!
After a while my arms grew tired. So I packed up, leaving the residue behind for some poor soul to clean..and headed home.
–
A new perspective.
Ember woke up, stretching their arms out and hearing a ‘pop’ sound, all good then. They opened their eyes to their room, their side covered with posters of bands, many…many instruments (the only thing being kept in good condition was a drum set, and even “good” condition was a stretch.) The walls dark and overall grim. And that's how they liked it.
The other sides of the rooms though were a different story, the place was lit up by a party light on the floor, sprinkling all sorts of colors and shapes everywhere! It looked chill, comfortable even with a box TV and game systems. More over, it was all simple, simple bed for all three.
Speaking of three… the others were awake, Ember was sure of it. They never went out unless they needed anything. Or got bored. There was no need to, they had everything and everyone here!
They slipped out of bed, rushing out of their room, feeling the pain in their legs from the previous night. It hurt…a lot. But was nothing he couldn't work out. Just the life of time.
“//Hey! …Hm?\\”
One..two…ok it should be that. But…three? Ember counted with their fingers. Who is this…?
Hickory, with sticks and leaves practically living inside his hair, waved down his fiery friend from afar, to which everyone, .. including this…stranger watched them walk up. Hand on his hip and with his eyes laid low.
“∆You mind introducing yourself to our guest?∆”
“//I didn't know we had any…\\”
Ember eyed down the stranger, his face didn't look too happy. Like there wasn't any life behind anything he saw. It…spooked them.
Hickory patted on a cushion, Ember sat, not without an eye roll though. They saw Pine playing on his DS as usual, sticking their tongue out at him, as he lifted his head. Making a scrunched face at the Future.
“∆..Stop that..∆”
Present structured himself, as much as he could.
“∆That’s Ember..if you couldn't tell. They're nice and don't bite!∆”
“//Oh, no, I do.. pretty common.\\”
Hickory hit Ember’s leg. An audible ‘ow’ already shut down as the stranger tilted his head at the trio.
Soon, the stranger spoke…
“<...Harmonia..>”
This was getting more uncomfortable. Future messed with their ponytail as this.. Harmonia person continued talking to their friend. But everything about him screamed danger. Or.. something. Something about him wasn't right.
They peaked over to Pine, now relaxing on the couch staring at the ceiling. They nudged at him, whispering in his ear.
“//..when did dis guy show up..?\\”
“•.. About an hour or two ago.. he just showed up.. Hickory’s just been going and going…•”
“//…weird.\\”
Pine nodded. They both exchanged a glance at each other, then towards Harmonia, his entire presence ruining Ember's mood. Who was he to show up uninvited and sour everything?
They hopped off the couch, a mighty bump noise heard as they approached Harmonia, staring at him. A smirk forming from ear to ear.
“//Ok intruder, your.. everything is rather annoying, if I might say. Your eyes look lost. Almost like you don't want to be here…am I right?\\”
Harmonia’s face never changed. Causing Ember to go off script. He didn't answer his question, just looked down at his hands and mumbled something.
…Note, don't let Present invite people in.
They huffed, going back on the couch with a hard thump, careless. No answer. No response.
…
He grabbed Pine’s sleeve and headed into their room, shutting the door harshly without an explanation. Ember was hard to read sometimes, Pine knew that. But whatever this guy here was doing? They both felt something similar in the air. Like a new scent of a candle flooding the senses.
“•Do you think that guy is..ok?•”
“//I don't know. I don't really care to be honest. But I want him out. He shouldn't even be here…\\”
Future crossed their arms as emotions caught their vision, only letting them stew in his head for the time being. Maybe going out on the town again might help. It always did.
They kept scratching their legs occasionally, it was noticeable when Pine did anything and Ember's wince of pain interrupted the silence.
“•I know that noise. Did you go out again?•”
Oh the look of disappointment. Ember’s eyes laid at the stars, begging for a lie of some kind. But let's be real, the pain in their legs only grew worse. Causing another scratching fit. Lying was off the table.
“•I knew it! ..C'mon.. I'll fix it.•”
“//No. My legs are perfectly fine, see?\\”
Their legs had small scratches seen from afar, red indents of blood, some fresh, some old, but all through the same actions. He wondered how Future was even ok after this every time. No time wasting, Pine led Em to the hallway and went to get supplies for bandaging.
Across the hall, they could hear Present closing a door. …He must've left. Left with that guy. Probably. Ember examined the floor, sliding his fingers across the wood.
When Pine came back, he noticed a small thing on Ember’s fingers.
“•…. splinters…really?•”
“//I got bored. And.. Hickory’s gone.\\”
“•Ah.. Well. Him being gone isn't letting you off the hook. Hand. Now.•”
They grumbled, giving their hand to Past as they first took tweezers out and CAREFULLY pulled the pieces of wood out Em’s fingers. They jolted occasionally, but after a while, their hand was free from such pain.
“•Your actions worry me sometimes.•”
They bandaged their hand up, now getting to the legs as he was supposed to. Ember chuckled, tipping their cap off to Pine.
“//Good! You should be worried..you never know what the future holds.\\”
“•….Mhm. It's not worth hurting yourself over.. you know. Just be careful, ok?•”
Future’s body relaxed for a moment. Thinking on it… then nodded.
Pine finished wrapping the bandages on Em’s legs, looking pleased with his skills.
“•Done..! Now what?•”
Ember got up slowly, looking around and then towards past Pine, messing with their necklace.
“//Mario Kart..?\\”
He watched as Pine’s eyes grew 10x the size they already were. Big stars they were. A yes it was. Immediately Ember sat down in front of the TV, while Pine got the game ready. ….they were playing with joycons this time since Present hogged the main controller. But who cared? Not them!
They played until it was night outside and the lights were out.
Pine kept on playing. Ember on the other hand felt time’s energy weigh them down, resting on the floor as they continued cheering Pine on.
–
Fuzzy memories of a key turning and doors swinging in. Seemed like Hickory was home. Whatever he was doing…didn't sit right with Em. It wasn't his business, …but it would be in due time. They just had to wait and see.
Harmonia..
I'll keep an eye on you.
Whatever your path is…it certainly could turn catastrophic.
By time’s will…I think your life will head in the right direction.
But.. who am I to dictate such fate?
Predictions aren't really my thing.
Still..
Ember faced Harmonia, finding him in a spot in the park. All alone. He looked…troubled. His eyes now purple, His mood.. swirling around… the tension in this place.. consuming.
“//Hey… you wanna chat?\\”
The man didn't say a word. So, Ember stayed with him at a distance. Watching over him, giving him company. Talking every little thing they saw.
Feeling the mood..not shift once. It didn't need to.
They just needed to be there.
Soon, they both got up..the man staring right into Ember, at first his usual stance was all they were met with. The wind blowing across the park, making his face hard to see. Seeing his eyes shifted hue again, now with a subtle smile on his face.
Kind of creepy. But it wasn't for long..as Harmonia walked away, but not before giving Em a goodbye. His voice sharp and low, yet springing with appreciation.
Huh.
Their job was done.
Ember returned to the streets, the moon being his number one fan of theirs, enjoying the destruction of many marvelous creations that trailed behind them. Red, color of anger, fury, and perhaps passion, all laid into this night.
They couldn't stop thinking about their actions.
It made them smile.
Once again, they left their shards to be picked up by anyone.
Leaving the scene and heading back home, now waiting to see what happens next.

Chapter 6: Session 6: Sick, sad insides
Summary:
20's usual days get set off course when troubles block his view. Maybe finding the issue will figure out why it's eating at him so much.
Notes:
Warning:
!!Minor instant of blood//injury!!---
This took a while to finish.
I had a different idea for this, still having 20 be the center of it, but I kinda like this more.
My motivation and ideas were dwindling. I couldn't think of anything for weeks!
Until like...days ago! And just now. So yeah!
But I hope you enjoy! :]

☆----------------------------------------------------☆
*Beep*
*Beep*
*BEEP!*
Beeps of an alarm spring into his ears, the birds rustle around in their nests at this hour. It's a perfect day.
Before though, it was like everything was at a pull. He didn't need to think about it. Not now.
20 got ready for the day, he checked on Roxas, who was already up apparently. Looks as though he's been up for hours. Got breakfast prepared, sharpened his axe for a good clean cut. Can’t have anyone losing a finger. …again.
Made sure everything was alright and headed out the door with a bright smile.
—
The shop wasn't as packed as previous days, but that didn't stop 20 from going all for it. Some people were carving, some were painting their projects.
A normal day.
Was the music always this loud? Someone's cutting too fast! Oh wait.. it's ok. Hm. Will he come today?
Lots of thoughts ran around in 20’s mind.
Nothing about this..felt right.
Like something itched at his brain. It wouldn't go away.
A loud thud took 20 out of his thoughts and rushed to the scene. Someone dropped a bunch of pots off a shelf, no matter.. They looked worried but 20 waved it off, getting cleaning supplies and fixing it right up. Problem solved!
More people came in as heard from the door bell ringing left and right. Slow day.. not anymore. Yet, he continued on.
Mostly with teaching kids how to cut safely, quiet, slow, and careful. He examined their works and then his own. Checking occasionally to see how they were doing.
Calm.
Everything that happened weeks ago. Every night those words, their faces, it comes up. Why was he worried so much? Just keep cutting.
A bruised form on his knee from the kicking. So everything that (he) did was real. Keep cutting.
I should know what to do. I need to help him. He can't continue to go through this alone, I need to know what's going on, I ne-
Cutting.
Just continue helping.
…What is that feeling?
20 sees eyes staring at him with concern, they all point to his hand. In the corner of his eye, a small portion of red covers some of his hand.
“Oh! Ah jeez, no one panic! I'm fine. This is why you also have to pay attention when handling anything sharp! …. I'll be back.”
He goes to the sink at the back of the shop, turning on the tap, rinsing his hand so the blood doesn't stain anything. He grabs some peroxide and a cotton swab, rubs it on the cut. Wincing slightly but this isn't that bad. After all of that, he covers it up with a wrapping of bandages.
“Ok..! Good. Good..”
20 looks over at the scenery, everyone’s having a good time. A great time. He lets out a sigh. Staring at the bandage, worrisome. This doesn't happen a lot. More ringing of the bell. More people.
Who could be here now..?
“Hey! What you doing back here?”
Fin came rushing in immediately, catching 20 off guard as he put his glove back on.
“I didn't think you'd be here.”
“Why wouldn't I be here? Here almost everyday! Me and Dea were thinking about having a get-together or something. And I was hoping you'd be there!”
20 blinked, toying with his necklace somewhat about the idea. A get-together. A party basically. Sounds good. But the shop. It can be closed for a day or so.
Fin watched 20’s gaze wander around, leaning against the wall while looking around. His brows lowered at the sight of heavily applied bandages on 20’s hand.
Coming up and lifting it, knocking 20 once again out of his brain.
“Uh. What is this?”
“Oh this? Just a scratch. It's fine. But this.. get-together. Would Har be there?”
Fin adjusts his glasses on his hat, shrugging.
“Don't know. He hasn't called me at all in days. But I'm hoping he'll show up. And if he doesn't, oh well.”
“Yeah. Oh well..”
20 went over and slumped in a chair, Fin following behind him, leaning his head against 20’s and playing with his curls. While the dude sat and began thinking too much about everything. Again.
“Why are you down in the dumps today? That's weird.”
“Not weird. And I'm fine!”
“Someone who says that a lot doesn't always mean it, y'know. What's up?”
Fin kept twisting and twirling with 20’s hair. Smiling widely. It's a fun day. Not a sad day.
“Nothing’s up! I'm perfectly fine. Actually, when's your thing happening?”
“Tomorrow.
Are you sure you're..ok?”
He crossed his arms around himself, not in an agitated way, but a genuine wonder to himself. Nothing was out of the ordinary. A minor slip up today, but that's just what the job carries. Home is ok. Work is ok.
He is ok.
“Mhm. Positive.”
He smiled.
Faintly.
She saw it on his face. You can't really convince yourself that he's being genuine. He just wants to move on from this.
She'll let him. This time.
She let go of his hair, took off her hat and switched it with 20’s beanie. Surprised but let it be, 20 looked at the time, 7:30. Time to close.
Everyone left the shop, they both cleaned up for the night, 20 shut off all the lights. And they were on their way home.
“Y'know, I heard you got a dog, didn't know you were a pet person.”
Fin swung his arms around.
“Yeah! He's great. Kinda needed someone to watch over Rox when I'm not there. Keep him company. How am I not a pet person?”
“Not saying you aren't. Nevermind.”
The sky grew from a cool light blue to now a dark hue. Such as the world works. As the two reached the house, 20’s face lighted up a bit. Snickering at Fin.
“You're still here.”
“Mhm!”
“You wanna hang out then? Since you won't go away.”
Fin posed proudly, putting her hands at her hips with a grin.
“I never will! I'm like a bee to a flower, a leech!”
“Well, Ms. Leech, I welcome you in.”
And Fin ran inside as soon as the door opened, being bombarded by a small cream colored dog already welcoming her in. Barking pretty loudly. But not as loud as someone else.
“That's Zee. And he's already liking you!”
Zee sat on Fin’s chest as she laid on the floor, frowning.
“I'm stealing your dog.”
“Yeah, have fun with that.”
Multiple barks and whatever dog language Fin was speaking grew farther away as 20 went up to the hallway. Hearing music continually play and play.
He knocked and opened to see Roxas, as usual, strumming on their bass. The presence of another human broke him out of his work.
“What do you want?”
“We have a guest over, and it's late. I think it can wait till morning. Come on.”
Roxas, with all his might, slowly let the bass out of his grasp, looking back at it as they both left the room, meeting Fin and Zee on the couch.
“Fin.”
They said in a dull tone.
“Roxas.”
She copied.
Well this wasn't new. 20 hopped on the couch and took his child out of Fin’s hands, landing Zee just right beside himself.
“MY BABY!!!!”
“Not your baby. Mine. So! Um. Do you have a guest list of any sorts? Anyone in particular?”
“Not really. But! But! There is a new guy here. So I think it'll be a welcome party! Two in one.”
Roxas sat near 20, petting the puppers with content.
“You mean the guy who looks like he's been in a wreck?”
Roxas questioned
Fin’s arms basically rose and fell in excitement. Stomping his feet at the same pace. Too much energy.
“Yeah!! That guy! Must have quite a story to tell! Hehe.”
He gently pet Zee on the ear, the soothing soft touch of fur and playful face made her happy. Rubbing back and forth on the dog's head, leaving a few hairs to be dusted off. He faced towards 20, who appeared to be relaxing, judging by how his face seemed less energetic than usual.
His shoulders laid low. Just enjoying the moment of company around him.
—
“When we get there, could you lay low with the bass playing?”
Roxas held his bass close to his body, looking uneasy at the mere thought of being apart from his dear instrument.
“It’ll only be for one day. Then…you can play it how many times you want!”
“Hours.”
“Ok, hours then.”
20 patted the instrument as they both walked up to Fin’s front door, already could music and chatter be heard before they even went in. Must be a big one.
20 knocked on the door, and immediately someone let them in. Inside, lots of people were wandering about, some talking, others playing games. The music was booming, causing Roxas to whip out his bass and strum a few notes to the music.
He went over to his friends (who just so happened to be here).
And 20 was all alone.
Feeling nervous, 20 looked for anyone recognizable. He turned his head to see someone monochrome, with hints of blues, pinks, oranges, and greens breaking them apart. They looked agitated. Yet also energetic? They saw 20 staring at them. They approached him casually, like he was anyone they knew.
“Some party, huh?”
“Yeaaahhhh. Sure is. I don't think I know you, do I?”
They shrugged, having a smug smile forming on them, gesturing 20 over to a small area, it appeared to be less noisy than the rest of the house. They sat on the floor, head resting on their legs as they motioned the man to follow suit.
“Nope. Not yet at least.”
They raised their hand towards 20.
“Ego, Ego Spirit. And you?”
“20. Uh… that's pretty much it.”
They both shook hands, some other party goers passed by, but that wasn't important.
“I think I've seen you around here. I'm always hearing about some guy wielding an axe and I go, ‘now that's impressive. Where can I get one?’”
Ego chuckled, part of their hair covering their face, so it was hard to tell what they were doing. Even right now if not for the sound.
20 lightly shrugged at the comment.
“It's just for work. Nothing special! …Hey, I wanted to know, have you seen anyone with a yellow jacket named Harmonia?”
Ego raised a brow, tapping at the side of his head, their finger soon covered in some blue substance. …. interesting. They shook their head, disappointment looming over 20.
“No, not that I know of. Sorry.”
“Oh. It's ok.”
“There are lots of interesting fellas here. Wanna meet my buds?”
No Har. Guess Fin was right. But meeting new people wouldn't be that bad. Yeah! Something to get this feeling away.
20 agreed, following Ego as they passed through everyone. Reaching for the kitchen. How big was this house?
The kitchen only had a small group of people, someone with tear makeup and a ‘dunce’ cap left the room. But the remaining few looked….huh. Ego proudly pointed at each of their friends, smiling wildly.
“So that there is Mori, he's a bit of a mash of things. But that's why we love him.”
Mori, who wore a dark jacket, crop top, and a mish mash of patterns swirling around his pants. Waved at 20. Though he also noticed the..four arms and third eye. But that wasn't the weirdest thing he'd seen.
“That's Dev, you might've seen him. I can't keep track of where he goes.”
The man with a floral patterned outfit lifted his glasses up at 20, doing a little wave and going back to whatever they were doing. No one knew. He kept rubbing his fingers against his necklace though. Weird.
“Don't mind him. Or do. I can't tell ya.
And last, but most definitely least. Hope!”
The two locked eyes, a tall statured being rose his head up at 20, his eyes were without shine. No twinkle of life. He seemed to be made of stone, judging by all the little indents and imperfections. He wore a skirt similar to 20’s, but splattered with a multitude of colors. One of his arms was made of wood, reaching out for a greeting. Still, he never made a sound.
20 tried to stay calm. Hope leaned forward, there was a noticeable black liquid running down his face. Everything about this guy screamed frightening.
But he didn't feel dangerous.
Ego clapped. Making the others face her.
“Everyone, this is-”
“-20.-”
Hope whispered.
They all looked at the statue, feeling his focus on the man grow.
“How..did you know that?”
“-Unimportant. .. You are welcome anytime.-”
Hope went back over to Mori, letting them at it with a marker, admiring them drawing on his arm.
“Uhhhh, should I be worried?”
“Probably. Hope barely speaks to anyone he doesn't know. He must like you. But that's the crew.”
Ego’s colors, at first once many, now shifted into hues of pink. Their demeanor now slow, appearing rather low energy. They sat on the counter of the kitchen. Now a pink substance leaking from their eyes.
“Wait, wait, what's wrong?! What-”
“Ah it's all good, just happens. It was nice hanging out. Hope to do it again..at a better hour.”
“.....Ok?”
The group said goodbye as 20 walked back into the chaos that was this party.
There was a spotlight in the middle of the room, all the guest surrounding the new guy. He looked like he got the daylights beaten out of him, he talked like he couldn't get his words out fast enough. Flowing into a rhythm of things.
Inspecting the crowd, he could see some familiar faces, even his brother, but…Harmonia still wasn't here. Everyone in town was here having a good time. A great time! Everyone but him. And who knows what he could be doing at this hour?
…Who knows what the three of them could be doing. A tug of pain wrapped around 20, it'd been festering for a while. He won't let it happen. He needs to find Him.
Roxas would be fine. He had others to care for him. Fin… she'd understand.
He left the house, traveling on foot.
—
“Harmonia..!!”
He'd been pounding on the door for several minutes now, he already tried calling but.. nothing was working. All the outcomes started filling up in 20’s brain. None he wanted to come true.
Why are you worrying so much?
He continued again to try and get Harmonia’s attention. Anything!
An idea poked through 20’s troubles.
The axe.
A stupid decision, sure. And honestly he didn't have anything else to work with.
So, 20 pulled the axe around him, gripping it tightly….and he wracked it against the door, pulling away any loose pieces. Opening the door and heading inside.
He couldn't see anything. It was too dark. None of the lights were on, almost like it'd been abandoned. Like a clean house.
He checked downstairs. Nothing too bad. Some dishes here and there but. Nothing else.
20 quietly stepped upstairs, listening carefully for any sound. He heard cars go by, the living of the night always an ear shot away.
Music. A melody played from behind the door. Soft and faint.
He stood in front of the door, seeing etches of random doodles on it.
A sigh came.
He braised for his harsh words as 20 knocked on the door.
A scuffle of some sorts could be heard. Running, talking, who knew.
After a few more seconds….he felt a waft of air flow by him, being met with…..
Who. Is. This..?
An individual, they had dark hair covering a small side of their face, their body read uncomfortable and scared. Feeling the doorframe as they looked towards 20. Their eyes were impossible to see.
“(Hmm..)”
—
20 couldn't believe what he's seeing. Putting his axe away, he reached towards the person, making sure that this was real. They flinched at his touch, going back to close the door.
“What.. happened?...”
That voice. It's this guy.
The door opened once more, and 20 was let in. More darkness covered.
Until a light flicked on.
As his vision adjusted, 20 saw three figures.
Heart, who sat on the bed, now rubbing his hands together. Soothing himself.
Mind, with an angry look on his face as he went over to Heart, not uttering a word. But they knew..
And Soul, it met 20 with worry in its eye. It's mouth trembling, arms shaking. Tail slashing to the floor in panic.
Through all this. One thing went on in 20’s brain of questions.
Where is Harmonia? And what has he done…?

Chapter 7: Session 7: Down the same train of thought
Summary:
“The days of yesterday are gone. The tomorrow’s I hope for are getting slim.”
After the events of last week, Harmonia finds himself at a low point. More low than he’s ever felt in his life. Coming to the conclusion that none of this is worth the trouble as his Mind begins to tear him apart.

This took a month to complete. Motivation got kicked out of me for a while on this one. Mostly because I didn’t like how I was writing it. So I took some time, thought about it and rewrote everything. (It’s longer too.) But I guess today was a sad day, so this is…just depressing. Though it was always going to be. Just not THIS much.
No new characters in this. Surprisingly. But I’ll talk about that when the older draft is shown. OooOooo.
(Also, this “✧----------------✧” means the past//flashback.)
Anyways, um, stay safe and enjoy. (Hopefully.)
Chapter Text
✧----------------✧
The days of yesterday are gone. The tomorrow’s I hope for are getting slim.
I sat in my house after trying to find someone who'd understand. He provided nothing. He told me many things about enjoying the time in the moment, and to not dread on future’s pull.
I don't believe him.
I just continued my ventures around my house. Occasionally finding something of note to do. Until it became mundane, hopeless. These walls were my comfort and also my prison I set myself in.
I am my own guard.
One day however, my head felt weird, it began to grow in pain each day. I tried to ignore it, take some pain medicine. Something. But nothing.
Several days later..my bones started hurting. I assumed it was the lack of movement throughout the week. It had to be.
Then my chest sunk, it wanted something. But even when I ate, nothing could satisfy it.
My phone was going off every second. I didn't answer. I didn't want to bother them. I can handle this myself.
I thought I could.
They flooded me with irritation.
Soon enough, it was too much to take in, medicine, no use, everything from the fridge, purposeless.
Resting now became a chore.
Everything. Everyday. Every action. It felt like the end. Or what I presumed it would feel like. I just expected it with things going this way.
Anything could happen. If it were to happen now, I wouldn't be mad.
An invitation arrived at my house.
A party.
I went back to my room. Laying in bed again like days before, the only thing I wanted was to sleep and not hear a single thing.
That's when the pain jolted to a hundred. My head pounded against my skull, my heart felt as if it was trying to pull away from me.
My bones felt fuzzy. Like they disappeared.
I dropped to the floor. Clawing at my head to stop. Holding my chest for some kind of safety. Some kind of sign?
Everything grew dark for a moment….
Until I was nothing at all.
The sound of voices grew.
I tried to say hi.
But nothing came through.
…
Three beams of light pulled apart from each other, getting used to their bearings of this new form.
And a knock on their bedroom door.
✧----------------✧
Soul paced around the room, tripping on himself as he couldn't understand this. Why? Why would this happen? They were fine. Everything was fine and they ruined it.
They turned to 20, now utterly stunned, shocked, anything like this would do that to someone.
He had the same question as them.
What happened?
The Stars face started to glitch and shift as the Sun and Moon winced in pain. Both their namesakes hurting, but couldn't do so much in the state they were in. Only succumb to it.
Tears spilled from Heart.
Strands of hair pulled from Mind.
This wasn't going anywhere. This wasn't good.
20 approached Soul first, seeing as he seemed the most stressed out of the three, he carefully tapped Soul on the horns. Causing a slight flicker to go off. Looking up at the man as he held their hands.
{What good can he do..}
The Stars stayed still. It's breathing and pain slowing down. But still caught in the fog that was his Mind.
“Is this better..?”
20’s voice softened. Settling on a higher, more nurturing tone so it wouldn't be too much of a fright. The Soul, hesitantly, nodded against his wishes. It would only be better for the meantime.
“Good.”
He let go of Soul, now coming over to the Sun and Moon.
Immediately, the Moon grabbed 20’s arm tightly. His words were mumbled through multiple streams of tears pouring down.
Though if he was legible, it wouldn't do much anyway.
“[Your whining isn't helping…!!]”
The Sun shouted. Making 20 uncomfortable as he tried to calm them both down. The Heart reached for Mind's face, it hitting away at him before the Moon punched him in the nose, causing another flow of pain. Blue substance leaked out the Sun's nose while the two scuffled.
Both their hands were held, like a parent trying to not let their kids kill each other after a long day. And today wasn't going to be that day. 20 huffed, gesturing Mind to follow him. To Mind's surprise, it thought walking would be the easiest thing ever. Done it lots of times.
His feet wobbled on the floor as he followed 20, keeping his balance straight with his tail and hugging the wall.
It glanced at him through his curls, looks of disappointment were all over him.
As they entered the bathroom, lights shining in its eyes, face stinging with irritation, 20 gave Mind a tissue to clean the “blood”.
“[...Thank you.]”
Her speech is jittery, shaken, but not cold.
“No problem. …”
A dab of water rubbed underneath Sun's nose, it wanted to jolt away or do it herself. But this worked. The Moon's emotional rampage was not uncommon. But violence should be the last thing he thought of. Especially now.
It's brow lowered. Humming a tune.
“..I don't know what to think about this.. it's bizarre.”
“[Everything in this world is.]”
It combed through its hair as a bandaid was applied to the bridge of his nose. Taking a slow breath. The subtle sense of pain reminded him of his faults.
“Is everything…ok? You.. you never answered and I knew, I knew something would happen..!”
“[It's not your job to look after Him.]”
Mind rubbed the side of her head. It truly wondered how someone it barely knew could care for Him so badly.
How could anyone care at all. He wasn't that special to begin with.
“It's not. But I wanted to know if he was alright..and I got my answer right here bleeding in front of me.”
“[........]”
“Let's just go. See how.. hm. Ok?”
It got up. It clinged onto 20’s arm which surprised the man and himself.
They headed back over to the bedroom. A sleeping Heart and a restless Soul were found on the bed where Mind was led to.
“{.. Your..}”
The Sun fanned the Stars worries away, climbing into the bed and clinging itself to the Moon. Despite his actions, he didn't hate him. And soon.. the Sun set.
Leaving the two to have a needed talk.
“....”
“{....I. We. We're sorry. He's sorry. He couldn't, He didn't want to.. He didn't want you to worry. I tried to stop Him-}”
20 shushed them.
Crickets buzzed outside as apparently quiet it was. It had no excuse. It knew what He was doing.
Once again their hands were held, a look of concern, tiredness, and most positively fear met their eye.
Their tail swung as 20 sighed.
“I’m not mad. If that's what you think. I just want to know how we got here. What were you doing? Did something happen to…cause this?”
These lines of questions puzzled Reasons.
Why not answer truthfully? He had nothing to lose for that.
“{.....Why does it matter. Nothing really happened. I didn't want to go to some party. I didn't want to be around anyone. …. Doing something just leads to disappointment. …Getting up everyday waiting for nothing isn't my cup of tea.…So. Why not wait it out.}”
The grip on their hands grew. The air felt cold unlike the warmth that they became used to.
“{I just want to rest all day. I want something to feel worth doing…but there's nothing like that here.}”
Their horns flickered, their voice now a small clouded speck of nothing. They slouched down more to the ground. Laying their head on the floor.
“Soul. You have a lot of things to do. You have games to play, .. music to discover, …uh. Just life. There's nothing else worth it than that.”
“{...Disappointing. Those freaks make it worse…}”
He looked towards the sleeping planets, quietly slumbering without a care at this point. Their behavior…questionable. But still, they're people.
“Freaks.. Well they're a part of you. As disappointing as life may be, there's always something or someone to make it better.
Am I right?”
Soul pushed their head into 20, but immediately moved away as their horns could probably harm him. Though they did it elsewhere.
Guess it didn't get through.
“.... Harmonia..”
“{Soul…}”
“..Harmonia. Please get up..”
The Star turned its head up. What's he trying to do? It refused. Still continuing its round of pain.
That isn't his name.
Out of nowhere, the Soul was lifted into the air, locking eyes to a ticked off 20.
He spoke with coldness this time. Not taking anything this creature was putting at him.
“Harmony. I'm trying to help you. I am trying. I'm at my limit. All I want is for you to stop. Please. For your own health. Because at the end of the day, {you} are still YOU. This stuff…!? Doesn't change anything. Now,”
He placed Soul down, carefully making sure they didn't fall on anything while standing. Their demeanor seemed…still. His eye glossy and his face red.
20 went over turning on a lamp, glancing at Soul as he walked to the doorframe. Returning to his soft composure.
“Do you want anything?”
The Stars shook their head. But the sound of hunger arose from them that pointed to yes.
As that was confirmed, 20 left the Soul alone.
The only thing Reasons could do either than staring at the sky was watch the other two sleep as he hugged himself.
Wanting for it to be over.
–
The house hasn't had company in a while. Months, a year at most.
20 stood over the stovetop, most of everything in the house had been eaten. But it didn't look like anything was gone.
He noticed a box of noodles in the cupboard, some sauce and spices, why not. Maybe they'd enjoy it.
Them. What a weird day. At least he came here as soon as he could. Who knows if He'd still be around in any form.
As the pots were found and filled with water, 20 placed it on the burner to boil.
His phone buzzed. The time was midnight. Oh.
Multiple messages from Roxas were…easy to see. He tapped the phone icon, going into his contacts and dialing him up.
…
“You left me at the house.”
“I sincerely apologize…! I didn't mean to leave you.. it's just…something went on and..”
Roxas's sigh could be heard on the other end. Strumming on a few cords before speaking.
“Whatever it was.. must've been SO important for you to abandon me.”
“What no! No no no, Rox, I'm sorry. But someone was in trouble and..I was thinking about you getting home…uh. Who dropped you off..?”
“.... Wouldn't you like to know.”
“...Fine. I guess I deserve that. Oh! Wait, Rox, uhhh could you help me with something? I promise I'll make it up to you..!!”
A growing silence came in.
Then another strum.
“...You let me take my rock everywhere.”
“I..ok. Fair is fair I'll send you the location…see you when you get here. And.. don't be too freaked out.”
As soon as 20 said that, the call ended. He hoped they were coming.
Some steam from the water filled the air. Guess it's pasta time.
–
*Knock. Knock. Knock.*
Couple of knocks rang again and again.
The pasta had been finished, the door should have to wait.
20 went and brought three bowls into the bedroom. Soul still sat on the ground, grabbing at her chest as she saw 20 enter.
“Here.. These are for the others.”
He slid the bowl towards her. If on command, the Star took it and ate. Not really caring about anything else.
If he was eating.. that's all that matters.
The other bowls were left on the desk and out 20 went to answer the door.
Opening up, multiple people walked in.
“Soooo this is where he's been?”
Fin looked around as Dea followed behind him. Right next to them was Roxas..who…didn't seem the most pleased being here at all. Just glaring at his brother throughout.
“Uhhhhh. Yup. But could you guys be quiet a little? ..Heh. He's…well.”
They all nodded.
As the group settled in on the couch, Roxas began his little performance. Fin came next to 20, seeing all the dust and small things around the house. It gave her jitters.
“What's the deal here? Is Har ok?”
Oh wonderful. More questions!
The man in feminine apparel moved them both into the kitchen, glancing at the others before exhaling.
“Nooo… he's uh. Not. But I think us being here will do him some good. …But you might be.. weirded out.”
“Considering things around this town. I think whatever is going on with him will be the least weirdest thing here. What's he up to?”
“...Pasta.”
Fin chuckled a bit.
“Pasta? So he's up and ready then!”
Fin happily walked to and up the stairs to Whole's door, 20 getting right behind him and begging to whatever that they weren't killing each other.
Fin opened the door, shuffles were heard, whispers spoken, and eyes glowed through the lamp's dimness.
“[Hello..]”
The Sun was risen. Watching Heart eat too intently. While Soul looked around for something..
He tiptoed in. Seeing these…components right in front of his face amazed him!
The Star found a hair tie inside one of Whole's drawers. They sat next to Mind and began tying his hair up in a bun, very messily but good enough.
“[Thank you, Atlas.]”
The Stars hummed. Fin crouched down to the floor, the awkward tension in the air became foggy. Dense.
“Hey! Wooowww, you guys are so cool lookin’!!! Now where is he?”
The trio stayed quiet. The Moon being done with his meal while the Sun and Stars looked at Fin.
“{Not here. Can’t you see that?}”
“Oh! Hm. So it’s only you three here then? How does that work, you obviously remember us, yeah?”
“{Yes.}”
Soul took Heart’s bowl, taking it over to 20 in an instant, ready to be done with this conversation more than it started. Who knew how many words could be thrown at him before he exploded.
“Haha! Great! Um. Why are you…erm. Physically here? I thought it was an internal thing, not this..?”
“[I don’t think that’s any of your business. Your countless questions are driving us mad.]”
Fin frowned. Rising from the floor with a tilt to her head. Appearing oddly offended at such comments. Well they were right. It wasn’t her business…but it apparently was 20’s?! They’re all friends here.
Did she need some special bond with them?
What’s the deal here!
“Well I’m only concerned. Come on! Pretty please??”
“Fin..I think they’re ok. Why don’t we leave them be. Alright?”
20 motioned towards the hallway but Fin didn’t budge. Carrying some stubbornness to him. Didn’t they all.
He went towards the Heart, his tail moving close to Fin’s knee. Inching his hands close enough to hers. Facing her with curiosity.
His sockets laid empty. His lids lowered to comfort her.
“(..She just wants to understand. Can’t we give that to her..)”
“[If she wanted to, why didn’t she do anything about Him? Doesn’t seem to truly care about us. Is that right?]”
It smiled at her. A wide sharp, toothy grin filled with malice.
She froze for a second. Composed. And faced towards Soul.
“You're all…interesting. But I’m sure this is all just a bad day for you all. That goes on sometimes. Would a board game or outing suffice? Eh? Maybe that’s what you’re missing!”
“{…This is the opposite of what He wanted,}”
The host.. whatever his name is, got up, standing straight in Fin’s face. Tail looming around them. Poking. Growing closer as the flowery annoyance stepped back.
“{You think all of this can be fixed with some simple games or anything. But listen here. It can't. Your little “always happy all the time” charade can't fool me. It's sickening. It's draining. You know it, you certainly should!
….
I'm sorry…or am I…? I honestly can't tell…}”
They fell down to the ground without remorse. Causing Fin to leave the room.
The three alone once more.
–
“Why'd you invite me here..”
“I thought your cheery vibe would help?! I didn't know they were going to do…all that. But regardless of what he said, none of that's true.”
He tried to get a look at their face but all that came through was the bridge of her hat, obscuring her eyes.
“It could be. They weren't exactly wrong now were they. If that's how he feels, then I must be doing something wrong.”
More things to deal with. More problems to fix.
“Fin..”
20 offered comfort. She declined. Knowing that this wasn't anything to fuss over.
“It's alright. This isn't about me. They're the ones who need it. I'm.. I'll be ok. If you need anything I'll be down with them.”
Down the stairs she went.
Well that went…unexpectedly well.
20 came back to the room. This whole back and forth game grew distressing. Every moment entering this room brought new worries to sew into.
Heart heard the sound of 20's trinkets jangle around, he crawled closely towards it. Having the man follow him downstairs and into the kitchen.
….In the room, a dark figure showed their face to the Sun and Stars. Night’s sky grew further away from them without the Moon. And all that could be done was to let them help.
Heart maneuvered to Fin and Roxas talking. The atmosphere is cold and still.
His hands trembled under intense weather.
“(I wanted to say sorry. ..for how it spoke. I understood what you were saying…but. There's only so much cheer one can give… it's exhausting.)”
He climbed onto the couch next to Dea, the others more focused on his face than his words. However, Fin’s anger towards them lessened. Listening in.
“(It's funny. The only time anyone really cares about anything if it's in your face. Other than that.. no one knows what's going on. You're not doing a bad job. …I think. …. This hurt can last for a while.. and feeling not heard…I don't know. This isn't making any sense. Disregard it.)”
“Nothing to disregard. Your emotions make sense. Troublesome. Very. Nonetheless, your..a tricky situation. A constant roll of the same thing all the time. Correct?”
Roxas chimed in.
The Heart nodded.
“See, it's not entirely the end. Whatever…”Harmonia” is up against, I'm telling that you'll push through. Even if it takes an eternity to make it.”
“(..That's actually nice to hear..)”
He listened to the tales and woes of these. The energy of pain soon came away.
Though nothing is ever truly as it seems.
Moon's light shined as darkness covered the Stars.
…
The Night suggested their words to the planets.
“[We'd rather not. I didn't think you'd be here too.]”
They sat with them. Talking about how it should've known better than to think about such things. To imagine scenarios and ends to their own. When all of it could be fixed.
The Stars objected.
“{You think you know what you're saying with all that.. But you're just as lost.. What comfort did you ever give to Him? Just a small pint of advice and on your way.}”
The Soul may object. But Night's shadow over the Sun will do just fine. If it won't agree..
Then a new solution shall be at play.
Then Calamity will turn anew.
You've done this before.
And another once more.
It's not the end yet.
Not yet…
