Work Text:
Ghosdeeri and Traffic were leaning against the outside of the library, Traffic with a cigarette and Ghos with a book.
"Hey Ghos." Traffic asked, sounding skeptical about something, as he blew out a puff of smoke.
"What's up?" She asked, not looking away from her book.
"How many watchers did you say there are?"
"Seven total, me included, and we're all stationed across Inpherno to gather and collect data for Ghostwalker."
"Okay, and are any of them like... purple? And green."
She stopped, still not looking up from her book, but confused by Traffic's question.
"I... Yes. Yes there is one. Doomsekkar. But they've been locked up for years."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure. I was there when Ghostwalker sent them away."
"And if you were wrong-"
"I'm not wrong, Traffic. I'm never wrong." Her breathing was picking up, she knew Doom was locked up, so why did Traffic doubt her? Why did she doubt herself?
"I know, Ghos. I know. You know I'm not one to doubt you. But just in case, if Doomsekkar wasn't locked up, how screwed would we be?"
"Fairly screwed, I guess. They're... eccentric and dangerous. They got sent away for influencing things when our job is merely to observe. At least, that was the reason we were told. I've heard that they spent so much time around poisonous plants that it messed with their mind, drove them insane. They became so focused on experimentation that they forgot about the lives and phinites involved."
"Ok cool then we should maybe leave. Or like... at least go inside."
"Traffic what on Inpherno do you mean-"
"Ghosdeeri! Good to see you again! Y'know, it's been a long time since I've heard someone describe me as eccentric and dangerous!"
She looked up from her book, hoping she was just hearing things, and standing in front of her and Traffic was Doomsekkar herself.
"Doom." She stood up straighter, trying to gain something on Doomsekkar.
"Ah-ah! You know we are the same height, Ghos! Thus is the nature of our species."
"Doomsekkar, what are you doing here?"
"Saying hi to an old friend!" She laughed, before turning to look at Traffic. "And who's this?"
"I'm Tr-"
"Someone far more pleasing to be around than you." Ghos answered for him, slamming her book closed as she did so.
"So prickly! You'd go well in my garden..." She stepped closer, getting in Ghosdeeri's face.
"How did you get free?" That was the real question on her mind. She stepped back as she spoke.
"A helpful little fly trap broke my chains!"
"Wait. Fly trap? Isn't that a plant?" Traffic spoke before Ghosdeeri could stop him. She really didn't wan't him drawing Doomsekkar's attention to himself.
"Venus fly trap! Yes! Congratulations! Would you like to see one?"
"No he would not-"
"Sure."
She smacked Traffic gently, trying to get him to shut up, when a Venus fly trap shot around from behind Doom, snapping at Traffic but thankfully not hurting him.
"Holy shit, is that your tail?!" He asked, baffled.
"It most certainly is!"
"This is pointless. Doom, what did you mean when you said a fly trap helped you?" Ghosdeeri asked, death staring them. Doomsekkar laughed in return.
"You'll see, my friend. They'll all see." Their gaze shifted to the top of Flipside Tower, a dangerous grin spreading across their face. Ghos and Traffic looked too, trying to see whatever they saw.
"Doom-" But when she turned to face them again, they were gone.
