Chapter 1: New Universe
Chapter Text
Peter felt cold. His lungs hurt. His insides burned. He felt tears slipping down his face as he shivered on the stone ground. Peter coughed and gagged as he felt something warm coming up his throat. Peter vommited his guts out and when he opened his eyes all he saw was green. Peter heaved again and closed his eyes in pain.
Peter became aware of his body as the pain started to subside. He felt himself laying on his side and blinked his eyes open. He saw the green stuff he puked out all around him. He stuggled to sit up as he looked around him. He was in a cave of some sort and he was laying halfway into a green pit of strange liquid. The liquid was dark green and bubbled but glowed, lighting up the small cave he found himself in.
"Help." Peter called out weakly, his voice rough. Peter coughed out more green liquid as his throat felt like it was on fire.
"Help." Peter called out again but his voice was weak. Peter panted in exhaustion as tears streamed down his face.
"Strange, where are you?" Peter asked looking for his ally. Strange was no where to be found though.
"Ned, Mj, Peter 2 and Peter 3? Anyone?" Peter tried to move then yelled out in pain as something was lodged into his side. Peter looked down at his body then saw an iron bar going straight through his body and pinning him into the the ground.
"Oh, that's not good." Peter said and grabbed at the bar. Peter got his hands around it then hesitated.
Should he really just pull it out? His healing factor is incredible but what if he bleeds to death?
Peter looked down at his body and saw that he was wearing a t-shirt and flannel. Peter quickly took his flannel off then grabbed the bar again.
"Here goes nothing." Peter said then yanked the bar out of his body.
"Ahhh!" Peter screamed as he quicky put pressure on his wound. Peter heard the clatter of metal and looked to see the metal bar landed a few feet away.
"A crowbar? Seriously?" Peter said, hoping his injury wasn't infected. Peter tied his flannel around his side then groaned in pain as he sat up properly.
"Where am I?" Peter asked still looking around but finding no one.
"Hello?" Peter called out but got no answer.
The cave was dark, small, extremely inconvenient and as far as Peter could tell held no obvious exit. Great.
Peter took deep breaths as he tried to remember how he got here.
There was a fight. The world was ending. Something terrible happened. Strange said something about making everyone forget who he was. After that things get a little blurry. What happened? How did he get in this cave? Was he buried by some debris? Why did he have a crowbar in his side?
Peter winced as he stood up and looked down at his legs. He had blue jeans on and something was on his belt.
"Karen, are you there?" Peter asked and felt a spike of panic as Karen didn't respond.
Is he really alone?
"Karen?" Peter called out again and nothing happened.
"Okay Peter, don't panic. You're in a small cave with no exit and there's a massive hole in your side. No need to panic. You don't have Karen and your Spider-Man suit isn't working. Stay calm." Peter said to himself trying to take deep breaths.
"You have to move, you can't stay under this pile of rocks forever." Peter said and forced himself to look for an exit. Peter found a pile of loose rocks and started trying to dig himself out. The rocks soon came loose and tumbled to the ground making an opening for him. As Peter got to the other side he was met with more cave and more green goop.
"What is this place?" Peter asked then winced as felt a sharp pain in his leg. Peter looked down and saw an arrow through his leg.
"Was that there before?" Peter asked in confusion then stumbled to the ground.
"Oww." Peter groaned in pain.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" A person with a green hood on threatened him with an arrow in his face.
"Uh-Peter, I don't know. Did you shoot me with an arrow?" Peter asked looking up at him in confusion.
"Yes I did. Now how did you get here?!" The bow and arrow man yelled at him. Peter observed him and saw he had blond hair and a noticeable goatee.
"Please don't tell me that's you Clint." Peter said hating to compare this man to Tony.
"Clint? No, who's Clint?" The knock off Clint asked him.
"No one." Peter said remembering Clint was a super secret agent, even if he was publicly known as an Avenger.
"Stop it, can't you see he's a kid." A gravelly deep voice startled him and he looked over to see a shadow of a man with two pointy ears atop his head.
"I'm not a kid. I'm eighteen." Peter said weakly.
"He's injured, step away from him." The shadow man said and Peter struggled to back away as the shadow man approached him.
"Listen, I don't hurt you. You don't hurt me got it?" Shadow man said and Peter nodded. As Shadow man got closer Peter could see him more clearly and saw that he had a bat symbol on his chest.
"Now this will hurt." Bat man said and Peter yelled out in pain as Bat man ripped the arrow from his leg.
"What the hell Bat?!" Peter yelled out and groaned as Bat man wrapped up his leg.
"Now who are you? How did you get here?" Bat man asked and Peter glared at him.
"Why- *huff* should I- *huff* tell you?" Peter asked aggressively.
"Because you're bleeding out and I'm wondering if you're even worth saving." Bat man said and Peter passed out.
When Peter woke he found himself in a hospital bed and being watched over by Bat man.
"Where am I?" Peter asked, his injuries hurting a lot less now.
"The Watch Tower, so don't even think of escaping." Bat man said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
Is he supposed to know where the Watch Tower is? Maybe a secure prison? Or a lair of somekind.
"Who are you?" Peter asked and the stranger sighed.
"I figured you didn't know who we are. We're not sure where you came from. You don't seem to exist on any database though. So tell me spider meta, where did you come from?" Bat man asked and Peter looked at him in distrust.
"Who are you?" Peter asked again angrily.
"I'm Batman, a hero from the planet Earth. Will you answer my question now?" Batman asked and Peter had no idea who this Batman was.
A hero from Earth? Did he think Peter was an alien? It does make sense that he doesn't exist. What's a meta?
"Do you remember where you're from?" Batman asked and Peter didn't know how to explain his existence.
Would Batman even believe him? Probably not.
"Kid, can you hear me?" Batman asked and Peter nodded.
"Do you know where you're from?" Batman asked and Peter hesitated.
He has no idea where he is. He has no idea who this Batman is or if he's lying.
"Your friend shot me in the leg." Peter said looking down at his injured leg.
"Yes, and I apologize for that but you came out of nowhere and we were taking down an evil cult." Batman explained and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"An evil cult?" Peter questioned.
"The League of Assassins." Batman said like that explained anything.
"You said you were going to let me bleed out." Peter said looking at him in fear.
"I'm not a villain and I wouldn't let you bleed out. I have a strict no killing rule, even if you are a meta." Batman said and Peter was still confused and concerned.
"What's a meta?" Peter asked tilting his head.
"That's what we call people with powers. You're not from Earth are you?" Batman asked and Peter didn't know how to answer that.
Should he tell the truth? Should he lie? If he told the truth Batman wouldn't believe him but if he lied he would have to fabricate a past for himself. Neither option sounded good.
"Spider meta, can you hear me?" Batman asked and Peter nodded.
"Why do you keep asking me that?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Did you hit your head?" Batman asked him.
"Maybe. Probably a couple times." Peter said trying to remember what happened in the fight.
"Do you remember your name?" Batman asked him.
"Peter." Peter said not giving away his last name.
"Do you have a last name?" Batman asked him.
"No, no last name." Peter said deciding he should probably not give away his full name.
"Do you know who you are?" Batman asked him. Peter looked at his injuries then looked at Batman.
"Maybe, I still don't trust you." Peter said glaring at him.
"Well, until we find out who you are and where you came from you're staying here with us." Batman said and Peter scoffed.
"What? You can't just kidnap me! I need to get back to... to... to..." Peter breathed out, not sure he actually needed to get back to Queens.
Queens would be safe for a little while and it's not like he has any family to go back to. MJ and Ned though, they need him, don't they? They don't even remember him, no one does.
"We'll figure out who you are and send you back when we know." Batman said and Peter sighed.
"You won't figure it out." Peter said and Batman looked at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Batman asked.
"I mean, you won't find anything about me. I was erased from existence by the Sorcerer Supreme. I'm no one anymore." Peter said sadly.
"What?" Batman said in confusion.
"It's complicated. How did you know I was part spider?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Your blood tox report." Batman said and Peter frowned.
"You took my blood?" Peter asked in anger.
"You were bleeding all over the place and I was just being cautious." Batman explained himself.
"Where's my belt?" Peter asked reaching for the device that held his suit in it.
"It was taken in for testing, we'll give it back once we know where you're from." Batman said and Peter scowled at him.
"I will not stay as a prisoner here." Peter growled.
"I will lock you up if you decide to become a problem." Batman said and Peter huffed.
"Listen, I don't know you. I never heard of you before. Why should I trust a word you say?" Peter asked in distrust.
"Because I can do much worse than an arrow in your leg." Batman said and Peter sighed in stress.
Great, he's been caught by an actual super villain.
"What do you want from me?" Peter asked in distress.
"I want to know what you were doing in a cave in a League of Assasins base." Batman said and Peter sighed.
"Dying." Peter said motioning to the massive wound in his side.
"You're not a member of the League then." Batman questioned him.
"What do you think? Why else would someone leave a crowbar in my side and leave me for dead?" Peter asked sarcastically.
"A crowbar? Who are you?" Batman asked and Peter sighed.
"Peter, no last name. No one remembers who I am. No memory of how I ended up in that cave and attacked by knock off Hawkeye." Peter said flatly.
"Who's Hawkeye?" Batman asked and Peter looked at him in disbelief.
"You don't know Hawkeye? One of the core members of the Avengers. Super secret spy who's great with a bow and arrow." Peter said and Batman just gave him a puzzled look.
"The Avengers, you know, Captain America, Ironman, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. They saved the world like five times. You must know Spider-Man and the thing that happened in Europe. It was all over the news." Peter said and Batman just looked more and more puzzled.
"Stay here." Batman told him and Peter huffed.
"No way." Peter said standing up then his spider sense went off and he quickly backed away. Peter fought off Batman as best he could but the bat managed to strike him in the side, knocking the air out of his lungs. Before he knew it he was cuffed. Peter tried to break the cuffs but was surprised when they didn't break or even bend.
"We already accounted for your strength, now stand down." Batman growled at him, pinning him against the wall.
"Fine, I'll stay put." Peter huffed and Batman forced him back on the bed. Peter knew he could probably overpower Batman but decided he would rather not be locked in a cell yet.
He didn't even do anything wrong.
"Superman get Captain Marvel here, I need Cap to guard him, make sure he doesn't wander." Batman said and Peter perked up.
"Captain Marvel! I know her! She'll vouch for me! I think, unless she forgot who I was..." Peter trailed off sadly.
"He's delusional, be careful." Batman said to a man with a red suit, white cape, and a lightning bolt on his chest who walked into the room.
"Delusional? I'm not delusional!" Peter yelled.
"Yeah, sure you're not. Settle down man." The man put his hands on his shoulders and held him down.
"Let go of me! Where's Captain Marvel?! I need to know if she remembers me!" Peter shouted, stuggling against the lightning bolt man.
"Wow, you are delusional. Can you give him a sedative or something?" The lightning bolt man asked and Peter struggled harder.
"No! Let me go!" Peter shouted but then something was being stabbed into his neck.
"No! Stop! Let me... let me... go..." Peter couldn't keep his eyes open.
"No." Peter got out with his last breath then his world went dark.
"Keep him sedated." Peter heard a distant voice that was muffled, like he was underwater.
No, leave me alone!
Peter tried to yell but he couldn't move.
"We're not sending him to the asylum."
"We'll we can't keep him here."
"I could put him in the Pipeline."
"Will that hold him?"
"Of course it will."
"Does he deserve that?"
"He tried to attack me."
"He was scared and confused. He could be from a different universe."
Different universe? What do they mean?
"We don't know that though. All we know is that he's a dangerous meta who doesn't exist."
"We can do a psychological test on him every week. We can't keep him sedated forever though."
"I know. Let's move him to the Pipeline."
The Pipeline? That sounds like a prison! Please don't let that be a prison!
Peter groaned awake and found himself in a cell.
"No! Let me go!" Peter yelled in fear trying his best to escape.
"It won't work, new guy. We all tried it." A voice called out and Peter whimpered.
"Where are we?" Peter asked in fear.
"It's called the Pipeline. Flash's private meta prison." The voice answered him.
"What's your name?" Peter asked.
"Tony. You?" Tony asked and Peter sighed reminded of his late mentor.
"Peter." Peter answered sadly.
"What are your powers, Pete?" Tony asked.
"Spider powers, I stick to stuff and I'm stronger and I have a sixth sense for danger. You?" Peter shared.
"I can turn into metal. How did the Flash beat you?" Tony asked and Peter frowned.
"Who's the Flash?" Peter asked in confusion.
"The Red Streak, Barry fucking Allen." Tony said banging the wall of his cell.
"Is that who put us in here?" Peter asked and there was a tense silence.
"Amnesia, they put a kid who has fucking amnesia in here?!" Tony asked in disbelief.
"I'm eighteen!" Peter yelled and heard Tony scoff.
"I wonder what you did that was so bad." Tony said and Peter bowed his head in sadness.
"I didn't do anything wrong." Peter whined.
"Sure kid, I'm sure whatever you did wasn't that bad." Tony said and Peter sighed sadly, going silent. Suddenly his cell began to move and Peter looked around in fear. Suddenly a wall opened up and he saw a man in a different red suit with a lightning bolt on his chest, it was smaller.
"Good morning Peter. How are you?" The man asked him. Peter just stared at him in fear.
"I'm the Flash. I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to ask you some questions." The Flash said and Peter looked at him in distrust.
Barry fucking Allen. The one who trapped him in here.
"Listen, I know you don't trust me but I can't let you out until I know you're not going to attack anyone. None of my team know what you did and I don't even know but you're going to have to tell me the truth or I'll have to keep you in there forever." Barry said and Peter tried not to cry.
"I... you won't believe me." Peter whimpered sadly.
"I've heard plenty of crazy things in the past. Why don't you just give it a try." Barry said and Peter sighed.
"I was fighting some villains from other universes then the spell broke and Doctor Strange had to make everyone forget that I was Peter and then I was saying goodbye and... then... then I woke up covered in green water. I pried the crowbar from my side and dug my way out of that cave. Then your friend shot me and I almost died, you know the rest." Peter scoffed, looking away from him.
"Other universes! You said other universes!" Barry said excitedly.
"Yeah, so?" Peter asked in confusion.
"That's it! You're from another universe!" Barry said excitedly and Peter looked at him in disbelief.
"What?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Okay, tell me about your universe." Barry said and Peter just stared at him in confusion.
"Why don't you tell me about the heroes?" Barry said and Peter frowned.
"The last time I did that you put me in this cell." Peter snapped at him.
"Yes but now that I know you're from a different universe I'll believe you." Barry said and Peter grumbled.
Maybe it is possible that he's in a different universe?
"Fine, in my universe there were heroes called the Avengers. Captain America was the first Avenger, he fought in World War two but was buried in the ice for seventy years and later revived." Peter said and Barry was looking at him in fascination.
"And who were you in your universe?" Barry asked.
"I was... a vigilante. I was-"
"Let me guess, Spider-Man?" Barry asked and Peter flinched.
"My identity got out and Strange did this spell that almost ended the multiverse. I... I couldn't stop it. He had to make everyone forget that I was Peter so everything would go back to normal. After that I don't know what happened." Peter explained sadly.
"It's so good to know you're not crazy. I'll get Doctor Snow in here to give you a psych evaluation and hopefully get you out of there." Barry said and Peter nodded just wanting to get out of this cell.
Chapter 2: Karen Wakes Up
Chapter Text
"Hey Cisco, have you figured out what that thing is yet?" Barry asked, rushing into the lab.
"I would love to tell you about it but this thing has some type of self defense mechanisms built into it." Cisco said, looking at the small device the spider meta came with. It was a red disk with a blue glowing circle in the middle.
"What kind of defense mechanisms?" Barry asked, going to pick it up then taking his hand back as it electrocuted him.
"That first of all, I've also tried picking it up with these but watch." Cisco held up rubber tongs and reached for the device. The rubber tongs started to melt even before they touched the device.
"Woah, is it radioactive or something?" Barry asked curiously.
"No I already checked for that. It just gets really hot, like thousand two hundred thirty two Kelvin hot." Cisco said and Barry tilted his head.
"Why isn't it on fire then? What's making it so hot?" Barry asked curiously.
"That's just it, I don't know. It seems to be targeted though and it doesn't stay that temperature for very long. It can heat up and cool down within three point four seconds!" Cisco said excitedly.
"Woah, how did you get it here?" Barry asked in confusion.
"Well, it didn't start defending itself until ten minutes ago." Cisco said and Barry looked at him in suspicion.
"And what activated it's defense mechanisms?" Barry asked.
"I was trying to get a sample from it and may have... hit it with a hanmer." Cisco admitted and Barry looked at him in disapproval.
"I was just trying to get a small sample of the metal and nothing else was working! It broke my hammer!" Cisco yelled, showing off his hammer that was broken into two pieces.
"Did you at least get the sample?" Barry asked and Cisco looked away from him.
"Not exactly, I did get something though." Cisco said, showing off his screen and Barry looked at the lines of code in confusion.
"An AI?" Barry said as he began to understand.
"Yeah! An AI! I've only got the base code but I think-" Cisco cut himself off as his screen filled up with static then all the code disappeared.
"The AI?" Barry questioned in fear.
"Oh, no, no, no, it's in our system!" Cisco yelled quickly trying to stop the AI.
"It took over the system! I can't get it out." Cisco said, putting up firewalls but the AI was working faster than he could handle.
"Hello Cisco Ramone and Barry Allen." A mechanical female voice came from the speakers.
"How does it know our names?" Barry asked in worry.
"It got into everything. I can't stop it." Cisco said helplessly.
"My name is Karen and you trapped my owner." Karen said and Barry started to get worried.
"It's opening the cell doors!" Cisco told him and Barry rushed down to the Pipeline and saw the door to Peter's cell open.
"Caitlin! Get back!" Barry yelled as the spider meta stood up. Barry quickly grabbed a pair of cuffs for metas and got ready to fight.
"Barry wait!" Caitlin yelled and Barry froze.
"He's a dangerous meta!" Barry yelled back, still ready to attack Peter.
"No, he's not. I got finished with the pych evaluation. He's not crazy!" Caitlin said and Barry looked at Peter and saw him just standing there in the cell, not moving.
"Caitlin listen to me, he's got an AI and it's taken over the whole building." Barry said and Peter looked at him in surprise.
"Karen?" Peter called out.
"I'm here Peter." Karen's voice came from the hidden speakers and Barry flinched, looking around in worry.
"Karen-" Barry was quick to cuff and put a hand over Peter's mouth before he could talk to his AI. Peter growled and Barry could feel fangs push against his hand.
"Get the door closed!" Barry yelled. Caitlin was quick to try and do so but the door didn't close.
"Mmm mm mmm!" Peter tried to speak and Barry held him tighter. Peter huffed in frustration, just glaring at him. Barry held onto him then he felt Peter relax in his hold. Barry slowly took his hand away from Peter's mouth and Peter hung his head.
"Barry, he's not going to hurt anyone." Caitlin said as Peter stayed silent, subdued.
"How do you know?" Barry asked.
"Look at him, does he look like he's trying to attack you?" Caitlin asked him and Barry looked at Peter, observing him. He still had his head bowed and was frowning sadly. Peter looked up at him, his eyes shining in sadness.
"Okay, you want to prove to me you won't hurt anyone, call off your AI." Barry said. Peter took a breath and Barry tensed.
"Karen, stand down. I don't want anymore trouble." Peter said.
"Very well." Karen said and there was a tense silence.
"It's gone." Cisco said over their comms. Barry sighed in relief then took the cuffs off of Peter and quickly closed Peter's cell. Peter didn't move as the door closed again and he went back into the Pipeline.
"So, do you trust him now?" Caitlin asked.
"Not yet, let's go over his pych evaluation." Barry said and Caitlin followed him back to the main lab.
"You know it's strange... I can't find any trace of the AI. It is like it covered up it's tracks." Cisco said as they arrived.
"I don't like this. It shouldn't have been able to take over our system." Doctor Wells said, also observing the screens.
"And yet it did... so easily too! Whover this spider meta is, he's smart. Do you think he'll join our team?" Cisco asked excitedly.
"Not until we've decided if he's a threat or not." Doctor Wells said snapping his fingers.
"He's a meta, of course he's dangerous." Barry said and Doctor Wells shook his head at him.
"No, he has the potential to be dangerous. If he's on our side, he could do a lot of good." Doctor Wells said gazing at the montitor, which showed off the image of Peter in his cell pacing anxiously. He walked up the walls and ceiling of his cell easily, like he wasn't even aware he was doing it.
"If he's on our side. Caitlin what did you find out about him?" Barry asked, also watching Peter carefully.
"Despite talking about events and people who don't seem to exist he seems to believe what he's saying." Caitlin started.
"So he is from another universe." Barry said excitedly.
"If alternate universes existed then yes. From what he told me, he lost everyone he cared about. He has nothing to lose anymore." Caitlin said and Barry sighed.
"What about his morals though? What are they?" Barry asked, getting anxious himself.
"Well, listen to this." Caitlin brought up a recording and hit play.
"My aunt said with great power comes great responsibility." Peter sniffled. "She told me that right before she died. I don't want to hurt anyone. Please believe me." Peter pleaded and Caitlin stopped the audio.
"That doesn't sound like a deranged psychopath to me." Caitlin said and Barry sighed.
"I'm not against believing him. Maybe he could tell us how this Spider disk works? Spider pancake, donut, lemon? I'll think of something better and probably get a snack." Cisco said, staring at the red device the spider meta came with.
"I'm unsure, he sounds sincere but we found him in a Leauge of Assassin's hideout... He was bleeding to death but still." Barry said, beginning to pace as well.
"I say, let's keep him under observation for a while. We keep him in the Pipeline until we can figure out his motives and then as we get to know him we'll give him small bits of freedom, just to see what he does. If I'm right I don't think we'll have a problem letting this spider meta wander the lab." Doctor Wells said still observing Peter.
"Wander the lab? What about actually letting him go?" Caitlin asked and Wells shook his head.
"He doesn't have an identity. It's better if we keep him close." Wells said and Barry nodded, agreeing.
"Do we have to keep him in the Pipeline? I want to ask him about this thing." Cisco said motioning to the red disk.
"You can still talk to him. It's better if we get him talking. We need all the information we can get on him." Wells said and Cisco made his way down.
"I'm coming too." Barry said, wanting to know more about Peter.
When they brought Peter's cell forward they found him standing on the ceiling of his cell.
"Hey Spider dude." Cisco greeted him.
"It's Spider-Man." Peter said flipping onto the floor.
"Knew it!" Barry said and Cisco rolled his eyes.
"So I was messing with the Spider egg we found on your belt and it went in self defense mode. Mind telling me what it is?" Cisco asked curiously.
"Spider egg?" Peter questioned.
"Please tell me what it is, I am running out of names." Cisco pleaded.
"It's what holds my suit." Peter said and Cisco tilted his head at him.
"What? Is your suit, like really small or something?" Cisco asked in confusion and disbelief.
"Why should I trust you?" Peter asked glaring at him.
"This is Cisco Ramon, a scientist for S.T.A.R labs and part of the team who helps Flash. Flash also known as Barry Allen, CSI analyst and vigilante." Karen's voice spooked Barry and he looked around in confusion.
"I thought I told you to call your AI off." Barry snapped at him.
"I'm sorry, Karen likes to protect me. You guys gave me no information on who you are and locked me in a cell. So, sorry if my AI is a little protective." Peter apologized aggressively.
"So about my question..." Cisco trailed off and Peter sighed.
"Sorry, it's nanotechnology." Peter said and Barry looked at him in surprise.
"Nanotechnology? That's really advanced technology. I've heard about it but never effectively developed." Barry said in surprise.
"I've tried messing with nanotechnology once before but I could never get it to work. How did you get it to work?" Cisco asked intrigued.
"My mentor, Tony Stark, actually taught me. He's the one who built the suit. I helped and I can make my own tech." Peter said walking up the wall of his cell and back onto the ceiling.
"You didn't exactly answer my question." Cisco said as Peter sat down on the ceiling.
"It's complicated to explain." Peter said, sighing.
"I've got time to listen." Cisco said and Barry tapped his foot impatiently.
"Well... okay." Peter said and started explaining nanotechnology to them. Barry listened but his mind kept wandering. Barry wanted to listen, he did listen but he wasn't used to standing still for so long. His mind was moving too fast.
He wanted to know more about the multiverse. Peter had answers but wasn't talking about alternate universes yet.
"I'll be back." Barry said and rushed out to check his city and fight any crime he could find.
Chapter 3: Opinions and Assumptions
Chapter Text
"Flash, what's your report on the spider meta?" Bruce asked.
"His name is Peter. He says he doesn't have a last name but he is from a different universe so he may not actually have one. The guy is a genius. He knows all about nanotechnology and even has an AI!" Barry said excitedly.
"Is he still in the Pipeline?" Bruce asked, needing to know if he was properly contained.
"He is still in the Pipeline. We've got him talking though and if what he says is true he's been through a lot. We did a psychological evaluation and we don't believe he has any evil intentions but we'll keep him in there until we're sure." Barry said and Bruce sighed in relief.
"Tell me when you do your next pych eval on him. I want to be present." Bruce said seriously.
"Sure, we're doing another one next Tuesday around three pm." Barry informed him.
"I'll be there." Bruce said and Barry looked uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?" Bruce asked.
"Just a small issue..." Barry said anxiously.
"What is it?" Bruce asked in slight annoyance and worry.
"Peter's AI. Despite us getting Peter to call it off, it got access to all of S.T.A.R Labs' files. We can't detect it in our system but it took over the whole building. It opened Peter's cell door which shouldn't even be possible. Not only that but the Spider Egg is made of nanobots. It went into defense mode and we can't touch it anymore with anything." Barry said and Bruce looked at him in confusion.
"The thing the spider had on his belt." Barry explained when Bruce just stared at him.
"You're telling me you let this unknown meta hack into all your files?" Bruce asked angrily.
"It was Peter's AI and we tried stopping it but it was too advanced. The AI is more advanced than anything we've seen before." Barry said defensively.
"Do you actually have any information on this AI?" Bruce asked in annoyance.
"Uh- not really. It's name is Karen." Barry offered and Bruce shook his head.
"Have you been able to look at it's code?" Bruce asked.
"Breifly but we've had no luck in finding it again." Barry admitted shamefully.
"Is there any chance that it's just deactivated?" Bruce asked, hopefully.
"It's unlikely. We can't detect it in our system anymore but we believe it's hiding in the Spider Egg, watching silently." Barry said looking uneasy.
"Make sure it doesn't escape again." Bruce said and Barry sighed in stress.
"We'll try. I got to go." Barry left in a flash.
Peter no last name. A spider meta who had advanced tech and an AI. A dangerous figure from a different universe. Barry's report was vague and worrying. He needs more information on this spider meta. How do you research someone who doesn't exist?
The cave he came from. Bruce already investigated it and found a pit of Lazarus water. It was lucky they managed to catch the meta before he could cause any damage because of pit madness. Then again the spider meta didn't show any signs of pit madness at all.
While the meta was unconscious Bruce got to examine him closely and do his own tests. The spider had small fangs, a white streak in his hair, he had a bit of green in his brown eyes, he was only five foot seven, he still looked much yonger than the eighteen years he claimed to be. His cheeks still had baby fat and he had dark circles under his eyes. He looked like he was crying for a long time.
Then there were the scars. His chest was covered in scars and they all looked to be from different instances. He had multiple scars from gunshot wounds to what looked like deep cuts from knives. His back was the worst, with long claw marks dug deep into his skin. He also had scars from being burned badly in his side and neck.
Bruce suspected he was being forced to fight in the past. Probably in a meta fighting ring. Bruce didn't know that for sure though.
His story that he was from a different universe made sense. He didn't exist before and didn't show up in any database. His blood was a bit radioactive and his DNA was mixed with spider DNA.
Bruce wanted to question him personally but it was safer to keep him in Flash's prison. He also didn't want to scare the boy and have him lash out. Someone with that many scars would definitely lash out if he felt threatened enough.
Part of him just saw a small little boy who needed help. The kid looked so lost and Bruce wanted nothing more than to take him in and give him a nice warm home to stay in. He couldn't do that though. Peter was eighteen and an unknown threat. Old enough to make his own decisions and have the possibility to be a super villain. Once they clear Peter, Bruce wants to take him under his wing.
The kid didn't look like a super villain and looked so damaged. Bruce could help him with the pit madness, if he has any. Bruce could also teach him how to fight properly instead of the dirty fighting he no doubt learned in the fighting pits. He could teach him how to be a proper vigilante.
Bruce knew he had to wait though. Peter was still an unknown threat with unknown tech. They knew nothing about him and only his word to go by. Bruce didn't even know if Peter had no last name or just wouldn't give it up.
Bruce has to earn the small boy's trust. Hopefully he can take him away from the Flash team before they get too attached.
~~~Kal El~~~
Clark didn't meet Peter but he did see him when he was unconscious. The boy didn't look like he would hurt anyone but Batman and the others were a bit paranoid.
Flash is technically in charge of watching over the meta but Clark knew he could handle the spider's strength. Clark could handle watching over Peter. The rumor is he is from a different universe but Peter could easily be from another planet.
If Peter ends up actually being trustworthy he wants to take the spider in. He's so small.
~~~Oliver Queen~~~
Oliver sort of regrets shooting the kid. The kid was already bleeding heavily when they found him.
He should probably apologize to the kid if he ends up not being a super villain.
Chapter 4: Cell Mates
Chapter Text
After Peter was done explaining how nanotechnology worked Cisco left him and his cell moved back to where it used to be.
"Welcome back Peter." Tony's voice startled him and he looked out of his cell in confusion.
"Tony? Why are you in here?" Peter asked already sick of being stuck in this cell.
"I stole a Humvee and a few ATMs and kidnapped Barry's girlfriend." Tony answered him.
"Quiet down kid I'm trying to sleep." Another voice snapped and Peter frowned.
"And who are you?" Peter asked.
"No one just shut up." The rough voice said and Peter sighed. Peter gazed at the glass door of his cell. Then he saw something strange.
"Is that what I look like?" Peter asked in disbelief.
"You don't even recognize yourself? Why are they keeping you in here?" Tony asked as Peter stared at his reflection.
"I don't know." Peter said barely recognizing himself.
"Barry get down here you fucker! We need to talk!" Tony yelled and Peter watched as the cell below him move forward and go towards the door. Peter still couldn't see him.
How many cells were there? How many people did the Flash trap here? Were they all criminals?
Peter focused back on his reflection and didn't understand what happened to him. He looked different his eyes had specks of green in them, his hair had a white streak right down the middle, there were fangs in his mouth.
His cell started to move and Peter flinched crouching down on the ground to keep his balance. Peter quickly stood tall as he realized the metal door was about to open. As the metal opened up he was met with the face of a stranger. They guy was in a wheelchair and had a wicked smile on his face.
"Hello spider." The man said and Peter took a step back from him, glad there was a glass wall separating them.
"My name is Doctor Harrison Wells. I want to know how you traveled between universes." Doctor Wells said and Peter looked at him in distrust.
"There was someone in my universe called the Sorcerer Supreme. It was his spell that sent me here." Peter said and Doctor Wells looked at him in disbelief.
"Magic?" Doctor Wells questioned.
"What? You don't have magic here?" Peter questioned him.
"We do it's just not my field of expertise. I like to rely more on the science of things." Doctor Wells said. Peter looked at him skeptically.
"What do you want to know?" Peter asked sensing there was something more Doctor Wells wanted to ask him.
"Your AI." Doctor Wells said and Peter started to pace anxiously and angrily.
Peter would give up a lot of information to show that he wasn't a threat to them but that line stopped at giving them information about Karen, Tony Stark, and his tech.
"I see I struck a nerve. Why is that?" Doctor Wells asked as he watched Peter pace the ceiling of his cell.
"Karen is my AI and I will not let you dissect her!" Peter yelled glaring at him, green at the edges of his vision.
"Interesting, I thought the bat was lying about the pits." Doctor Wells said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"What?" Peter asked, the green receding.
"The green pit they found you in, apparently it's called Lazuras Water and it's said to bring back the dead. Now if that is true or not I don't know but the bat warned us that it might have had some side effects on you." Doctor Wells explained.
"Side effects?" Peter asked in worry.
"Quick to anger, added strength, and that white steak in your hair." Doctor Wells said and Peter looked at his reflection.
That certainly explains some things.
"You said added strength." Peter said putting his hand on the glass curiously.
"I did. What's going on in that head of yours?" Doctor Wells asked getting closer to the glass door.
"Nothing." Peter said taking his hand off the glass.
"You've intrigued me, spider. No one knows your intentions in this universe." Doctor Wells said and Peter gazed at him.
"I didn't come here because I wanted to. I was banished here." Peter sighed sadly.
"Banished?" Doctor Wells questioned.
"Sacrificed more like. I told Strange to make everyone forget me. He's the one who banished me to this universe though. Without my consent!" Peter snapped, hissing. Doctor Wells tilted his head at him.
"I'm trying to figure you out. What happened to you in your universe? The bat reported you have scars." Doctor Wells said and Peter flinched.
"I don't want to talk about it." Peter said sitting in the top corner of his cell.
"I'm just trying to help you Peter." Doctor Wells said his name and Peter glanced towards him then looked away again.
"Okay, we'll talk again tomorrow." Doctor Wells said and Peter watched as the door closed and his cell moved back to it's spot.
"I'm hungry. When do we get food?" Peter asked starting to pace again.
"It comes from the wall at a scheduled time." Tony informed him.
"Will you two ever stop talking?" The rough voice groaned in annoyance.
"Don't tell me what to do Kyle!" Tony yelled and Peter sighed.
"Is anyone else trapped in here?" Peter asked wondering why it was so quiet in the Pipeline.
"Only us three, kid." Tony answered him.
"Karen, what is this place?" Peter asked quietly.
"You are inside a huge particle accelerator built by Doctor Harrison Wells. The particle accelerator misfired and sent a huge blast of energy into the atmosphere. That blast sent all matters of energy into the air creating a lightning storm. That storm hit a number of individuals that have developed powers." Karen explained quietly from the speakers in his room. So quiet in fact that Peter could barely hear her.
Peter knew why she chose to speak so quietly. It's why Peter spoke barely above a whisper when talking to her. Peter didn't want anyone knowing about her. Karen understood that and hid herself from them.
"Know anything about the other guy somewhere in here?" Peter whispered in question.
"His name is Kyle Nimbus. According to the S.T.A.R Labs database can turn into a poisonous gas." Karen answered.
"And what did he do?" Peter asked.
"He killed a crime family and a judge." Karen answered him.
"Did you get any information on the bat?" Peter asked looking at his wrists, them feeling strange.
"A vigilante from a city called Gotham in New Jersey. I haven't had the opportunity to get into the Justice League database yet." Karen answered him.
"Is it because you're in Don't Touch Mode?" Peter asked thinking of why that may be and only coming up with one answer.
"You are correct." Karen said and Peter huffed.
"I hate that I have to prove myself to them!" Peter yelled, hitting the wall of his cell.
"I thought I told you to shut up!" Kyle yelled at him.
"Leave the kid alone!" Tony snapped back and Peter sighed ignoring them as they began to aruge then quickly stopped fighting as their food came.
"Finally." Peter said and ate the food that came from a small tray that came out of the wall.
"You know I could get you out of here." Karen reminded him.
"I know. Let's just wait. We will approach this peacefully and we will prove to them that we can be trusted." Peter whispered underneath his breath. Karen went silent and Peter knew he had to wait this out.
Peter knew there were heroes that were stronger than him. The one with the white cape was stronger than him and bigger than him. The Flash was much faster than him. He could never defeat these heroes so he had to prove to them that he wasn't a villain.
Peter rubbed his wrists then felt something strange, a small hole in his wrist? Peter got reminded of Peter 2's webs and started experimenting.
Peter chuckled as he shot a web at the ceiling and could feel how strong it was. It felt super strange and strangely thrilling. Peter made himself a hammock out of these new webs and laid down in it.
"What were you doing up there?" Tony asked curiously.
"I made a web hammock." Peter said pleased with himself.
"Lucky spider." Tony huffed and Peter smiled to himself as he relaxed. Peter fell asleep quite quickly and dreamed of a place called home.
The sound of a metal moving woke him up and he saw the cell below him moving forward.
"Karen, what's going on?" Peter asked quietly.
"S.T.A.R Labs seems to be under attack by a meta-human that can siphon and manipulate electricity." Karen responded.
"Another Electro?" Peter questioned curiously.
"Similar but this Electro seems to be able to handle a lot more electricity." Karen said and Peter nodded.
"Do they have it handled?" Peter asked anxiously.
"No." Karen answered and Peter knew he wanted to help. Suddenly his cell started to move and he was brought forward.
"One last thing." Harrison Wells was standing without his wheel chair in sight.
"Spider-Man you want to prove to us you're on our side?" Wells questioned him. Peter nodded.
"Help defend the lab." Wells said then walked away. Peter looked to the side and saw Tony in the flesh for the first time. Tony was buff, he had tattoos on his arms, and he looked ready to kill.
"Come on Spider, we got some bastard to kill." Tony said and Peter flipped onto the ceiling.
"I got to go grab something first." Peter said then crawled into the vents. Peter made his way to where he knew his suit was and crawled onto the ceiling quietly and webbed it up to him. As the device hit his hand his spider suit instantly enveloped him and he smiled.
"Welcome back Peter." Karen greeted.
"Good to be back." Peter said and made his way towards the danger.
Chapter Text
Barry walked through the hall with Caitlin quietly then stopped when he saw Tony get blasted into the hall.
"Tony what are you doing?" Barry asked him in worry as Tony lay on the ground struggling to get up.
"Oh, come on. You know me, Allen. I never run from a fight." Tony said then another figure got slammed into the wall or rather landed on the wall. The figure had six mechanical legs coming from it's back and a metal looking suit on.
"Peter?" Barry said in confusion seeing the spider-meta web up the enterance temporarily blocking Farooq's way.
"That won't hold him for long." Peter said then gazed down at Tony.
"Tony!" Peter crouched down and tried helping him up but Tony collapsed.
"Run." Tony said and Barry was horrified as Tony died in front of him.
"You heard him, get out of here! I'll hold them off!" Peter yelled at them.
"You can't fight him alone! Come with us!" Barry yelled back.
"Look out!" Peter yelled and tackled him to the ground as electricity burst right where Barry was standing.
"Go." Peter said and Caitlin pulled him away leaving the spider-meta to face Farooq alone.
"No, we have to go back for him." Barry said weakly, fighting to try and save him.
"We can't help him." Caitlin said sadly and Barry quickly ran with her to the server room as he heard the sounds of Peter and Farooq still fighting behind them.
Tony died, Peter had no chance and his speed was gone. Barry was overwhelmed and terrified.
"You're winded. That's not good." Cisco said as Caitlin led him into the room.
"I need to take your blood and figure out what happened." Caitlin said and Barry presented his arm almost unconsciously as he sat down.
"I can't believe he's dead." Barry said almost in tears.
"Dr. Wells?" Cisco questioned in worry.
"What? No, no, Tony Woodward." Barry quickly corrected him still trying to process Tony's death.
"He escaped from the pipeline with Peter." Caitlin reported.
"They must have got out when the blackout hit." Barry said trying to pull himself together.
"Not possible. The Pipeline was designed to withstand a power outage. Someone had to have let them go." Cisco said in confusion and worry.
What? No, who would let them out? Peter's AI? But How? When? Peter said he called off his AI. It was no where in the system. Why would he release Tony? Why would he fight Farooq?
"I did." Doctor Wells voice startled him and Barry looked at him in shock. "I released them." Doctor Wells said and Barry didn't understand.
"W-Why?" Barry asked in pure confusion.
"To divert our intruder's attention while we work to restore your speed." Doctor Wells said and Barry couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"You used them as a distraction?" Barry asked in disbelief and betrayal.
"An unnecessary one, as it turns out. It seems the plan has failed." Doctor Wells said and Barry took that as confirmation that Peter didn't last long either.
They were both dead. Doctor Wells just sacrificed them as a distraction!
"I... I have his blood on me." Barry said looking down at his shirt.
"Peter saved me and stayed behind! Tony was never equipped to handle a threat like that! How could you do that?" Barry asked looking at Wells in horror.
"You're showing a lot of sentiment for a man who tormented you as a child and a man who you just met." Wells said and Barry was enraged.
"Tony might have been a bully then and now but didn't deserve to die! Neither did Peter! We didn't even know if he actually had a last name but he was still a person!" Barry yelled at him.
"Does Caitlin or Cisco or me or you? I made a choice them or us. I chose us without a second thought." Wells said coldly.
"Hey guys, I think he might be trapped for a while but he's coming this way soon." A voice suddenly sounded above him and he looked up in surprise to see Peter hanging on a web from the ceiling.
"You're alive." Barry said in surprise.
"Yeah, for some reason everyone seems to think I'm easy to kill. Especially our buddy Electro." Peter said flipping onto the ground.
"Hey, I do the naming around here." Cisco said glaring at him.
"How are you not dead?" Wells asked and Peter glared at him.
"You wish I was dead." Peter said in a playful tone and Barry looked at him in worry and confusion. "Well, once I ran out of webs I think I almost knocked him out but ran before he could shoot me. We should get out of here." Peter said walking to the computer screen and immediately started pressing buttons.
"I'm still mad at you." Barry said glaring at Doctor Wells.
"We'll talk about it later." Wells said looking just as upset.
"Okay, I've located our escape route we're heading to the garage, you have vehicles and I'm pretty sure-" There was a loud crash and scream. "Electro just got out. Let's retreat and figure out a better way to defeat this guy than sacrificing my only other friend slash cell mate." Peter was immediately leading the way and they followed him without question.
"How did you know how to do all that?" Cisco asked Peter in curiosity.
"I'm a vigilante, give me some credit." Peter said like that explained everything. It certainly didn't explain anything but it made Barry curious about him as well.
Peter moved so confidently like he knew what to do and knew exactly what was happening. How did he have so much confidence? Tony just died literally in his arms. Was he not affected at all or was he just hiding how he really felt. The blank mask with only eyes didn't exactly help him desipher Peter's mood.
"Really Doctor Wells? Just let me hold you." Peter said noticing Doctor Wells lagging behind them in his wheelchair.
"No, no you will not pick me up." Wells refused adamantly.
"Fine." Peter said approaching him anyway then just picking up the very heavy motor wheel chair like it was nothing then running forward. Doctor Wells yelped and might of screamed just a bit.
"He can do that?" Barry asked startled.
"Cool." Cisco said impressed, running after him. Barry made sure Caitlin was keeping up as they continued to follow Peter.
"Barry look, your cells are rapidly regenerating." Caitlin said as they got to the garage.
What?
Barry tried testing his speed again but it still wasn't back all the way.
"Come on, slow pokes! Aren't you the Flash?" Peter asked and Barry realized Peter didn't know that he lost his speed.
"Yes, I am." Barry said ignoring the fact that he had no speed and getting the van ready. Suddenly all the power started to drain from the room and he knew he was too late. Barry saw Farooq come from the exit and quickly got out of the van before it could be electrified.
"You put him outside!" Wells yelled at Peter.
"Why would I do that? It's not my fault he found an exit." Peter said then quickly jumped to the side before he was electrocuted.
"I'm going to fry you spider!" Farooq yelled targeting Peter again.
"I already told you I wouldn't taste good! Spiders aren't meant to be eaten!" Peter yelled dodging again.
"Are you okay?" Caitlin's voice spooked him and Barry was surprised to find Caitlin and Cisco by his side. Barry nodded then spotted Farooq looking at them and ready to fire.
"Guys." Barry tried to warn them. Peter must have saw the same thing because he jumped in front of them looking ready to take the hit for them.
No, he can't watch another person die.
Barry reached for him then stopped as a voice sounded out.
"Hey! You're here for me." Doctor Wells yelled gaining Farooq's attention before he could get a shot off. Barry watched tensely as Farooq started talking to Wells and slowly approached him.
"Stay here." Peter whispered to them then somehow jumped to the ceiling and began crawling silently towards Farooq while he was distracted.
"Peter don't." Barry whispered wanting to stop him but not knowing how. Barry looked at Farooq in fear as he charged up a blast. Barry could barely hear the words being spoken as his eyes flicked from Farooq to Peter.
What was Peter doing?
Peter was placing something in the ceiling. Farooq shot an arc of electricity at Doctor Wells making him fall out of his chair. Suddenly the ceiling fell apart crushing Farooq, knocking him to the ground.
"I'm going to kill you Spider!" Farooq shot at Peter and Peter barely dodged him.
"Okay Flash, could use a little help!" Peter yelled barely dodging as he landed on top of a van. Peter jumped as Farooq targeted him again.
"Oh no." Peter said as he realized he jumped too soon to the ground. Peter got electrocuted as his body hit the floor.
"No!" Barry yelled as Peter's body went limp.
"Now to finish what I started." Farooq said turning back towards Doctor Wells.
Barry couldn't let him kill anyone else. Barry ran to save Wells and was surprised as he found his speed again. It worked!
Barry rushed Wells to safety then faced off against Farooq. Barry dodged as best he could but then he got hit and it felt like his whole form was on fire. Barry yelled out in pain as he felt his energy being sapped. When he finally opened his eyes though Farooq fell to the ground, dead.
"Iris." Barry rushed out to check on Iris.
Notes:
Yes some dialogue and actions were taken from the show I swear this is a one time thing.
Chapter 6: Still Alive?
Chapter Text
Cisco looked over at Peter's body and felt sick. His body was deathly still. Peter gasped awake and Cisco yelled out in surprise.
"He's still alive?!" Wells said in shock.
"Owww." Peter groaned out.
"Oh my gosh! We need to get him to the medbay." Caitlin said quickly approaching Peter who hasn't moved from the ground. Cisco quickly followed and helped Peter stand and bring him to the medbay.
"Are you...taking me back... uh- to my cell?" Peter asked half coherently.
"No, we're bringing you to the medbay. You were electrocuted, man!" Cisco said, still surprised that he was even conscious.
"Oh, right." Peter's suit went back into it's circular form and Peter went limp again.
"Woah, stay alive buddy." Cisco said holding him up.
"We need to hurry." Caitlin said and Cisco moved faster. They laid Peter down and Caitlin immediately checked his pulse.
"There's no pulse, we need a defibrillator." Caitlin said and Cisco was already grabbing it. They hooked Peter up to the heart rate monitor and fired up the defibrillator.
"Ready, clear!" Caitlin said and Cisco watched in relief as Peter's heart started to beat again.
"Third times the charm." Peter chuckled, somehow conscious already.
"What are you talking about?" Cisco asked not understanding why Peter was smiling.
"Third time I died now. I have a surprising amount of lives for a spider." Peter laughed then coughed out in pain.
"Okay buddy, just rest." Cisco said, the admisson very worrying. Peter smiled then fell unconscious again.
"Did he just say this was his third time dying?" Cisco asked in disbelief.
"His brain just got fried, I doubt he died twice before." Caitlin said still treating Peter for his injuries.
"Still, he got hit pretty badly. He shouldn't even be alive." Cisco said and Caitlin nodded.
"Yeah and with his now known super strength it may not be far fetched to assume he has more powers." Caitlin said as she stabilized Peter's condition.
"He called himself Spider-Man. I wonder if he has other spider abilities? How much of him is really spider?" Cisco asked as Peter lay unconscious but no longer dying.
"I'm testing his blood now, so soon we should get answers." Caitlin said and Cisco nodded, his mind wandering back to the fight.
Peter didn't have to protect them. Peter could have easily escaped but he stayed and fought off Farooq. He was strong, he held up Wells' wheelchair like it was nothing. He stuck to any surface he touched. He had webs coming from his wrists. Were those organic or did he manufacture them himself?
Not only that, he had scary fast reflexes. Despite getting hit, he actually dodged Farooq's attacks. How fast was he normally? Was he as fast as Barry or was it just his reflexes that were fast? What about the back legs he saw earlier? Were those just part of his suit or actually a part of his body?
Cisco was definitely curious and he wanted to run tests but he also knew Peter was technically still their prisoner. They knew nothing of his morals or past. Cisco observed the scars on Peter's neck and arms and felt pity for him.
His scars were so severe. What happened to him? How did some of those scars even heal? Maybe he has a healing factor of somekind?
"You know it's kind of creepy to watch someone sleep." Peter said and Cisco looked at him in surprise.
"How are you-" Cisco's question died in his throat as Peter passed out again.
"Okay, what the hell is happening to him?" Cisco asked, not understanding why or how any of this was happening.
"Huh." Caitlin said and Cisco looked at her in confusion.
"Huh? Is that a good huh or a bad huh?" Cisco asked in worry.
"Look at this. His cells are regenerating nearly as fast as Barry's." Caitlin said showing him her screen.
"So what does that mean, he's a speedster too?" Cisco asked.
"I'm a spider. Get it right." Peter said, briefly waking just to pass out again.
"Okay, how is he doing that? It's really starting to freak me out." Cisco asked, startled.
"Well let's think about this, spiders can regrow limbs, so that must be contributing to a healing factor. His blood is slightly radioactive which should be killing him but instead it seems to be enhancing his immune system." Caitlin said in thought.
"Wait if he's radioactive, is he even safe to be around?" Cisco asked, immediately testing the levels of radiation in the area.
"Well?" Caitlin asked.
"He's not emitting any radiation. I still think we should be careful around his blood though." Cisco said and Caitlin nodded.
"What we need to do is a MRI." Caitlin said, looking at Peter worriedly.
"What if he wakes up in the middle of it though and freaks out. He's not exactly out cold." Cisco said as Peter opened his eyes seemingly aware of everything around him then quickly passing out again.
"It seems like he can hear us maybe we can talk to him and figure out what's happening." Cailin proposed.
"Okay, hey Peter, buddy. Do you know what's going on with you?" Cisco asked Peter. Peter just laid there unconscious. Cisco looked to Caitlin for help then Peter sat up eruptly.
"I think I got electrocuted." Peter said then fell back down.
"Yes, we know you got electrocuted. Why can't you stay awake?" Caitlin asked.
"Karen, damage report." Peter said with fleeting consciousness.
"Burn marks on chest and left forearm. A severed nerve in your brain is currently trying to heal. I suggest a strong sedative so you stop waking up." Karen reported from the speakers in the room.
"How strong?" Caitlin asked.
"Enough to take down three large elephants." Karen responded.
"What? He'll die!" Caitlin said in worry.
"Unless he has a fast metabolism." Cisco said and Caitlin nodded.
"Do we have something that strong?" Caitlin asked looking for a sedative.
"Maybe." Cisco said looking for his stash. Cisco went to his lab then tried looking for a sedative strong enough to knock Peter out. He found something close and brought it back. Peter was having another bout of consciousness as Cisco gave him the sedative.
"Thanks guys." Peter said before he passed out and stayed unconscious.
"Did Karen say he had a severed nerve in his brain? How is that healing? Is he bleeding internally?" Cisco asked in worry.
"By all accounts he should be dead." Caitlin said but the heart monitor still beeped steadily.
"And yet he lives. Karen, how else can we help him?" Cisco asked the AI curiously.
"Treat his burns." Karen answered and Caitlin and Cisco were quick to do so. As they got off Peter's shirt Caitlin gasped. Peter's body was covered in scars, his skin was black and burned off from where he was electrocuted. Cisco could hardly believe the kid was even still alive.
Cisco shook his head and focused on treating Peter's burns. Once they had Peter stable Cisco looked around the lab and found webbing, quite a lot of it.
"Doctor Wells!" Cisco said, remembering he left Doctor Wellls behind. Cisco quickly made his way back to the garage and saw Doctor Wells back in his wheelchair.
"Doctor Wells, sorry for leaving you behind." Cisco apologized quickly.
"It's fine, is Spider-Man still alive?" Wells asked.
"His heart did stop but we got it beating again. He's pretty badly damaged but we think he'll pull through." Cisco reported.
"How is he still alive?" Wells asked in disbelief.
"We found out he has a healing factor almost as fast as Barry's. We don't think he has super speed but definitely something similar." Cisco said walking back to the medbay with Wells.
"Hm." Wells hummed in thought.
"There's lots of webs everywhere in the lab. I haven't gotten a chance to study them yet but that is next on my to do list." Cisco said as they arrived at the lab. Cisco touched one of the webs experimentally then stuggled to take his hand back.
"Woah this stuff is sticky." Cisco said, still trying but the webs didn't break.
"Interesting, is Peter awake?" Wells asked.
"He's actually sedated right now but we're not sure how long he'll be down. He's got an enhanceed immune system." Cisco said, his hand still thoroughly stuck to the wall.
"I'll check on our spider friend and get Caitlin to see if she can get you unstuck." Doctor Wells chuckled. Cisco frowned as he tried to pull his hand off the wall again and failed.
"Yeah, that would be great!" Cisco called after him as Doctor Wells left the lab.
"I hate spiders." Cisco said, still trying to pull himself loose from the webbing.
Chapter 7: Tests
Chapter Text
Peter felt like shit. His chest hurts. His arm hurts. His head is pounding. Peter never wants to open his eyes again.
"I expected more out of you spider." Doctor Wells' voice made him frown.
"I tried my best." Peter whimpered out.
"It's okay spider. You still have time to improve. Your usefulness hasn't run out yet." Peter felt a hand in his hair and leaned into it. His spider sense buzzed in the back of his mind but felt that the danger wasn't immediate so he ignored it.
"You didn't dye your hair did you?" Wells asked him and Peter groggily shook his head. The hand then moved down to his mouth and pushed up his upper lip.
"Huh, those are some fangs." Something was put up against his fang and Peter hissed.
"Get off me." Peter said still struggling to move or even open his eyes.
"Good spider." Doctor Wells said and Peter still couldn't move.
"Stop." Peter said weakly as his arm was lifted and Doctor Wells squeezed his wrist. Peter tried webbing his face but is not sure if he succeeded.
"Interesting. I'll have to do a full body examination later. Right now it's time to sleep spider." Doctor Wells said and Peter tried to fight back but his consciousness was quickly leaving him.
When he woke again he was surrounded by Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin, Doctor Wells no where in sight.
"Welcome back to the land of the living." Cisco greeted him.
"Glad to be back." Peter said sitting up and quickly checking every part of him to make sure he wasn't violated. Peter sighed in relief as he found everything intact.
"You've been asleep for four hours." Caitlin infomed him.
"Not very long." Peter said examining his wounds that have already healed and scarred over.
"Karen said you had a severed nerve in your brain; how are you up already?" Cisco asked worriedly.
"Don't know, I'm just glad you're all still safe." Peter said then frowned as he remembered that Tony died. "Do I have to go back to my cell?" Peter asked sadly.
"You risked your life for us. Why would we lock you up again?" Barry said and Peter smiled.
"You guys still don't know me well." Peter pointed out sadly.
"Then why don't you help us in the lab and we can do some tests instead." Cisco said and Peter scowled.
"I'm not some test subject." Peter hissed.
"Of course you're not, we would still like to see what you can do though. With your permission of course." Caitlin said and Peter looked at her in disbelief.
"Like what Doctor Wells did to me?" Peter asked aggressively.
"What are you talking about?" Barry asked in confusion.
"You weren't-" Peter shut his mouth as he saw Wells roll into the room. Peter glared at him angrily.
"Doctor Wells, what is he talking about? What did you do to him?" Barry asked defensively.
"I was just taking some samples." Wells said and Peter hissed.
"Yeah, while I was barely awake and unable to move!" Peter yelled angrily.
"Doctor Wells! He's still human! He's not some science experiment!" Barry yelled in his defense and Peter looked at him in shock.
"I'm sorry." Wells apologized and Peter sighed.
"Stay away from him. From now on Peter's not going back into the Pipeline. He's one of us." Barry said and Peter smiled.
"Fine but he stays at S.T.A.R Labs." Doctor Wells said.
"Fine, Peter are you okay with that?" Barry asked him.
"I guess. Now I'm starving; do you got any food around here?" Peter asked curiously.
"Yeah, I've been meaning to ask, do you have a high metabolism?" Cisco asked.
"Yeah, I need to eat a lot. I hope that's not too troubling?" Peter said anxiously.
"No problem. Cisco actually made these special granola bars to keep up with my own metabolism. You'll love them." Barry said excitedly.
"Once we figure out how much food you need exactly. Do you mind if we do some tests?" Caitlin asked.
"I guess not." Peter reluctantly agreed and let them do their tests.
"Can we test your webs? The ones you defeated Farooq with, sort of, dissolved." Cisco asked sheepishly.
"Fine." Peter said but didn't give away his web formula, he had organic webs now.
"So how fast can you run?" Cisco asked curiously.
"Eh I don't really know. Never tested it." Peter shrugged.
"Why don't we test that." Cisco said excitedly and Peter reluctantly agreed. Peter got on some tredmill and started running.
"Run as fast as you can!" Cisco told him and Peter sighed but pushed himself to run faster and faster.
"He just passed 200 miles per hour! Maybe he is a little speedster." Cisco said and Peter ran faster, angrier.
He didn't want to be here. Confined to a lab. Being tested. Being compared to the Flash! This universe changed him. Gave fangs! Organic webs! He just wanted to leave!
Peter finally slowed down and panted in exhaustion.
"Wow, you clocked 500 miles per hour. For not being a speedster you can certainly run fast." Cisco said looking at him in amazement.
"It comes with the spider genes." Peter huffed, catching his breath.
"Here's some water." Caitlin said handing him a water bottle.
"Thanks." Peter thanked her drinking the water.
"We saw you had added strength how much can you lift?" Cisco asked curiously.
"Enough." Peter said shrugging.
"Oh come on, we have to test it out!" Cisco said and Peter sighed but reluctantly followed him. They tested Peter's strength than found that he could lift twenty tons of weight before starting to struggle.
"Let's test your reflexes next!" Cisco said excitedly and Peter sighed but allowed it.
All these tests were exhausting but educational. Peter never took the time to really test his limits before. As everyone was distracted with his lab results Peter talked with Karen more about this universe.
"Have any more info in the JL?" Peter asked quietly.
"I successfully hacked into their system and Batman's personal system." Karen said and Peter smiled.
"Tell me everything." Peter said and Karen did so going into great detail about all the JL members, the threats they faced, and their identities. They kept doing tests while Karen explained everything to Peter. Peter listened and had time to process everything as the days passed and he was given a place to sleep and plenty of food. It did take days to get through all the information and Peter had to take breaks every now and then to ask questions. Then Tuesday came and everything changed.
Peter tensed as he could feel his spider sense tingling in the back of his mind. Then Batman walked in and Peter knew exactly why he felt danger near by.
"Peter the Spider-Man. We have a lot to talk about." Batman said and Peter grinned almost grimacing.
"Yeah, I bet we do." Peter chuckled nervously, hoping that Batman didn't find out about Karen hacking into all his files.
Chapter 8: Custody Battle
Chapter Text
"Peter, did you hack into my servers?" Bruce asked glaring at the boy.
"Technically, it wasn't me." Peter tried to say.
"It was your AI though." Bruce accused.
"Yyyeah that was me." Peter admitted bowing his head in shame.
"That is a very impressive AI." Bruce said and Peter smiled.
"Thanks!" Peter thanked him happily.
"Did you build that AI yourself?" Bruce asked.
"Actually it was my mentor Tony Stark but I know her code inside and out." Peter said proudly. Bruce opened his mouth to ask another question when Green Arrow came into the room.
"Green Arrow what are you doing here?" Barry asked in confusion.
"Oh I just came to apologize to the kid. Sorry for shooting you in the leg." Oliver apologized to Peter.
"You're forgiven." Peter said awkwardly, waving at him. Suddenly Clark was there as well.
"Superman, what are you doing here?" Oliver asked, startled.
"I came to see the kid. I heard you talking and I thought we could see him. We are allowed to visit him, right?" Clark asked eagerly.
"Uh- Sure." Barry said in confusion.
"What are you doing here Bat?" Clark asked in curiosity.
"I'm here to take Peter in." Bruce explained briefly.
"In? Where?" Peter asked in confusion and worry.
"I'm here to take you home, my home." Bruce clarified when he saw Peter look at him doubtfully.
"What? Why do you get the kid?" Clark asked in indignation.
"Because I know how to take care of a kid with powers." Bruce said matter of factly.
"I'm more equipped to take care of him for his powers. Plus help him deal with his traumatic past." Clark pointed out.
"I think it's best if he stays at S.T.A.R Labs. We know all of his powers and biology." Barry said seriously.
"If he should be staying with anyone it should be me. He needs a good mentor who can help him process his pain." Oliver argued.
"I-I'm eighteen." Peter's voice got ignored as Bruce started to fight with Clark, Barry, and Oliver of who Peter should stay with.
"He should stay with me because I have kids and I know how to parent." Bruce said defensively.
"I have kids too!" Clark yelled at him.
"He's eighteen he doesn't need a parent he needs a mentor!" Oliver growled angrily.
"Guys he's staying at the Lab!" Barry shouted.
"He is not staying in some lab like a science experiment!" Clark scoffed in disbelief.
"I never said he was a science experiment. I just think he would be safer here." Barry tried to claim.
"Really safer? There are dangerous metas attacking your city every week!" Bruce huffed.
"Like Gotham is any better. It's literally called the crime capital of the world." Clark pointed out.
"He's no safer in Metropolis that gets attacked by aliens every other Tuesday!" Oliver yelled, glaring at him.
"At least I can teach him good morals!" Clark yelled back.
"Good morals really? That's your defense?" Oliver asked in disbelief.
"I can teach him plenty good morals." Bruce said, still arguing his case.
"Dangerous morals! I don't want him to become as paranoid as you bat!" Barry yelled at him.
"He needs food and space, lots of both, which I can provide." Bruce said seriously.
"So can I!" Oliver snapped at him.
"What if we co parent him?" Clark proposed.
"We are not co parenting him." Bruce growled, glaring at him.
"He doesn't need to be parented!" Oliver shouted at them.
"We can provide for him at the lab and we have a whole team of people who can help him if he gets hurt." Barry said crossing his arms.
"I have a team of my own people who can care for Peter just as well." Oliver said glaring at the speedster.
"He doesn't need a team, he needs a family." Bruce argued.
"A healthy family not one that's torn apart." Clark said and Bruce stiffend.
"My family is not torn apart." Bruce said, trying to keep himself from attacking Clark.
"Oh really? I heard different from all four of your sons." Clark said and Bruce barely held himself back.
"Five." Bruce corrected him angrily.
"Oh, and are you even speaking to him?" Clark asked and Bruce looked down in shame.
"We're working on our relationship." Bruce defended himself and Jason.
"More reason he should stay with me." Clark said happily.
"Like you have the perfect applepie life." Oliver spat.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Clark asked in anger.
"Conner." Oliver said simply.
"He's my clone." Clark said back.
"He still came from you, he's still your son!" Oliver yelled at him and Clark bowed his head.
"You are all just going to use him to distract yourselves from your real family." Barry said, upset.
"Real family? Where's your real family Barry?" Oliver asked and Barry glared at him.
"My dad is in jail! Wrongfully convicted!" Barry yelled.
"At least my family is all still together. He's coming with me!" Oliver said with finality.
"No, how about we do a trail period. He can stay at each place for one week and see how he likes it, then he can decide. Barry you already had your week-"
"What?!"
"So Oliver since you are so confident, you can keep him this week then Clark then me." Bruce propsed calmly, not willing to give Peter up that easily.
"Fine." Oliver reluctantly agreed.
"Agreed." Clark said nodding.
"I still think I should get another week but whatever." Barry huffed looking away from them.
"It's settled then. Now does anyone else smell popcorn?" Bruce asked and they turned to look at Peter who was eating popcorn out of a large metal bowl with Cisco.
"What? It's not like we did anything wrong." Cisco said eating another popcorn piece.
"Peter-
"Cya." Cisco quickly left with the popcorn.
"Cisco." Peter whined.
"Peter." Bruce got his attention and Peter looked at him in fear.
"We decided you'll be staying with each of us for a week, then you can decide who you want to stay with." Bruce said and Peter nodded.
"Yeah, I heard. Is there no way you guys just let me go?" Peter asked nervously.
"No." They all said at the same time and Peter sighed.
"Okay. So Green Arrow is first." Peter said still looking nervous.
"You don't have to pretend to not know our identities, spider." Bruce said and Peter nodded, flinching away from him.
"Let's go." Oliver said to Peter.
"Wait, you need his medical files and the stuff about his powers." Caitlin said holding out a folder.
"Thank you. Come on Peter." Oliver said taking the file and Peter followed him out.
"That wasn't your only copy was it?" Bruce asked Caitlin.
"No, I actually have a folder for each of you." Caitlin said handing him a file.
"Thank you." Bruce thanked her taking the file then skimming through it.
Enhanced strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and endurance. Venom, webs, and radiation in his blood.
Bruce closed the file as he deemed it fully filled out and made his way back to the manor to get not only the manor ready for Peter but his kids as well.
Chapter 9: All I see is Green
Chapter Text
Peter followed Oliver into the very fancy car and sat down anxiously.
"So, you're going to mentor me?" Peter asked as Oliver looked through his file.
"Yes but first I want you to tell me about your past." Oliver demanded.
"Uh... no." Peter said resting against his car seat.
"No?" Oliver said in confusion.
"Yeah, no. I'm not telling you my past just because you asked nicely. I lost eveyone in my universe. I don't have to talk to you about it." Peter said glaring at him.
"Peter, I just want to understand you better." Oliver said and Peter scoffed.
"Well, understand then that I don't want to talk about it." Peter said upset.
"I know that. I just think we could get to know each other a little more so I know where you're coming from. I'll go first. I was stuck on an island where I went through hell to become the vigilante I am today." Oliver said calmly.
"I... I got bit by a spider when I was fourteen and I became a vigilante. Then a lot of things happened. I became an Avenger and saved the world a few times." Peter shared hesitantly.
"What's an Avenger?" Oliver asked in confusion.
"It's like the Justice League." Peter explained shortly.
"You grew up being a vigilante?" Oliver asked and Peter nodded.
"I still went to school and got an education but most nights I was Spider-Man." Peter explained sadly.
"Does this mean you want to stop being a vigilante and just go to college, be a normal kid for once." Oliver guessed.
"Ha, no. Just because I'm in a new universe doesn't mean I can just stop being Spider-Man. I do want to go to college though. I want to go back to Queens, be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man again." Peter said knowing what he wanted.
"Okay, I can make that happen." Oliver said and Peter looked at him in surprise.
"Really?" Peter questioned in hope.
"Yeah, I can help you create a new identity for yourself and get you into college. I can even get you a place in Queens." Oliver said sincerely.
"Yes! Thank you!" Peter said, immediately hugging him.
"No problem kid." Oliver chuckled, hugging him back.
"If you do still plan on being a vigilante though maybe it's best if I train you a bit. Show you what I know and learned." Oliver offered.
"I wouldn't mind that." Peter said knowing he didn't have any real training experience.
"Good, we can get started tomorrow. Tonight I'll have Felicity work on getting you an identity. I'll show you where you can stay temporarily while I set everything up for you." Oliver said and Peter couldn't stop smiling.
"You do know I still have to spend a week with Clark and Batman." Peter said reminded that he would only get a week with Oliver.
"I know but I'll have it all on the side for you when you're back. If you do come back." Oliver said frowning.
"Does the offer still stand even if I end up "staying" with one of the others?" Peter asked using his fingers to put quotes around the word staying.
"Yeah, of course. You will always be welcome in the Queen house." Oliver said seriously.
"Thanks Oliver." Peter thanked him sincerely.
"Yeah, yeah, let's just get home and we can get you something to eat." Oliver said, ruffling his hair.
Peter thinks he's going to like spending time with Oliver.
The next day Peter changed his mind. Oliver's training was strict and he was very insistent on Peter learning how to fight without his powers. Oliver wanted to train him to shoot a bow and arrow. Peter is shamed to say he keeps breaking them.
"Control your strength." Oliver told him sternly and Peter took a deep breath as he tried his best to not break another bow.
Learning to shoot a bow tested Peter's patience and control of his strength. Staying calm and not getting angry was the hardest part of it all.
Peter wasn't usually so irritated so fast but he kept seeing green at the edges of his vision as he continued to miss his target and he winced as he heard the bow snap in his hands.
"I'm sorry." Peter apologized sadly as he put the broken bow down.
"It's okay, Peter. I have plenty of bows. You've already broken four of them but I have more. Why don't you just take a break and you can tell me why you keep breaking my bows." Oliver said and Peter sighed sadly, sitting on a bench.
"I'm sorry Oliver. I'm really trying, I just can't control this anger. I'm mad at myself for missing. I'm mad at Strange for sending me here. I'm so angry and I... it scares me. I'm usually not this angry." Peter explained sadly.
"The Pit Madness. Bat warned us all about it. I shouldn't be so harsh with you." Oliver said and Peter huffed.
"I... I'm scared." Peter admitted nervously.
"It's okay, Peter. I'll help you control your strength and your anger." Oliver said and Peter nodded not sure how he would do that.
Peter couldn't help but be reminded of Bruce Banner. Banner knew how to control his anger. Then he reminded a phrase from a story told long ago by Tony Stark.
"I'm always angry." Peter said it with no emotion in his voice.
"What?" Oliver said in confusion.
"I'm always angry. In my universe there's this guy who whenever he gets angry he turns into a big green rage monster called the Hulk. His secret was that he was always angry." Peter explained for him.
"That seems extremely dangerous and not healthy at all." Oliver said and Peter shrugged.
"He was an Avenger. He was a hero." Peter defended Banner.
"Still, you shouldn't be angry all the time. It's not healthy." Oliver said and Peter nodded but understood what Banner meant.
He was always angry and used it, directed it, using the Hulk for good. Peter wasn't the Hulk. He knew he wasn't but he let the anger take over him and directed it at a new bow and arrow.
Peter saw green. His instincts took over as he grabbed the bow with just enough strength and pulled back the string, knocking an arrow. Peter stared down the target, pretending it was Thanos as he let his arrow fly. Peter still missed but he took a deep breath as his anger dissipated. It was still there just underneath the surface but it wasn't overwhelming like it was earlier. Peter put the bow down and smiled as it was still intact.
"You didn't break the bow!" Oliver said in amazement.
"I'm sure I can get used to this." Peter said and Oliver smiled at him.
"If you ever need to talk, I'm here." Oliver offered.
"I'm scared Oliver. I don't want to be angry all the time but I can feel it. It's like worms writhing just under my skin." Peter shared in fear.
"Does it hurt?" Oliver asked in concern.
"It doesn't hurt it just... it's overwhelming me." Peter said his vision going green again.
"You're eyes are glowing." Oliver said and Peter huffed.
"This world has changed me so much. I didn't used have fangs. I didn't shoot webs from my wrists. My back won't stop aching. I was captured and shot and caged. I didn't even get the chance to take in my surroundings before being experimented on like some lab rat!" Peter yelled out in anger then started to cry.
"I thought it was just from being stabbed then electrocuted or a nerve literally breaking in my mind but it hurts. My back hurts. I don't know why? I should be healed by now. Why does it still hurt!" Peter yelled in anger and got more angry as he heard himself hissing and his fangs flexing out, dripping with venom.
"Peter, I think I know why your back hurts." Oliver said stepping away from him. Peter looked at him in confusion.
"Why?" Peter asked then yelled out in pain and a chittering sound filled up the room. The pain subsided but the chittering sound continued and Peter felt something weird. New nervers he didn't have before and a sensation of limbs he knew he didn't have before.
"I'm going to kill Doctor Strange." Peter said as he looked at his new limbs in anger.
"Peter don't hurt yourself." Oliver said quickly as Peter took hold of the spider legs that sprouted from his back.
"I won't." Peter said and let go of them. Peter shivered as he moved his extra limbs and they clinked against each other making a chittering noise.
"I hate this. This was never supposed to happen. Strange was just supposed to make everyone forget about me. Not this!" Peter shouted and he felt tears slipping down his face.
"Peter, I'm sorry that this happened to you. Ever since you got here we have been rude and you've just been getting hurt this entire time. Did you say you were electrocuted and there was a broken nerve in your mind?" Oliver asked in disbelief and pity.
"Doctor Wells, he released me if I agreed to fight a meta for him. I got beat pretty badly." Peter explained the green not leaving his vision.
"I never trusted that man. Do you just want to rest for today?" Oliver asked him gently.
"I want to hit something." Peter said and Oliver nodded.
"Follow me." Oliver said and Peter did so without thought. Oliver brought him to a room then handed him a sledge hammer.
"I need this wall gone." Oliver said and Peter smiled.
"Yes, sir." Peter said and let the anger take over him and everything went green.
Chapter 10: Oliver Queen
Chapter Text
Oliver watched as Peter absolutely destroyed the wall he needed to knock down. Peter's eyes were glowing green. He looked absolutely feral as he used his new limbs to obliterate the wall. It was gone within minutes.
"Why did this have to happen to me? It's no fair." Peter said now crying quietly. Oliver watched him sadly, wondering why Batman thought this kid needed to be locked up.
"Life is never fair." Oliver said sitting in front of Peter who collapsed onto the ground and now just sat there hugging himself.
"What happened to you at the island?" Peter's question startled him and Oliver tensed.
"I was tortured and trained to survive in the wild. I was trained to kill. I became a vigilante to fix my city. I killed criminals and very bad people. I still do." Oliver admitted and gazed at Peter. Peter observed him then sighed.
"I lost everything. I don't know how to move on, handle all these changes." Peter said looking at the legs that sprouted from his back.
"You know I could hire you a therapist. You've been through a lot." Oliver offered.
"Can you hire me a therapist that won't think I'm crazy. I don't exactly exist here." Peter huffed sadly.
"You only have to go if you want to. You're old enough to make your own decisions." Oliver said and Peter whimpered.
"I just graduated high school. I was dead for five years! Beck made me question what was real and destroyed my life!" Peter yelled in anger, chittering loudly, his eyes blazing green.
"So, is that a no?" Oliver questioned in confusion.
"I do want- or probably need a therapist but I don't know how much they'll help. My life is anything but normal." Peter said his chittering quieting down a bit.
"Your situation is very unique. It might take a while to find someone that will believe you and able to be trusted." Oliver said thinking upon it.
"Can we just focus on training. I don't want to think about my past anymore." Peter requested simply.
"Very well." Oliver agreed and trained with Peter for a while longer until he had to go out as Green Arrow.
"Would you like to come with me?" Oliver asked as he prepared to leave.
"I guess." Peter said and suited up in a matter of seconds.
Together they patrolled Star City and fought crime. Peter was witty but focused. He was extremely intelligent and intimidating. Oliver watched in fascination as Peter fought well and was already extremely skilled at fighting. He would analyze fight patterns and adapt. He used his webs to his full advantage and even used his extra limbs to fight like he was used to fighting with them before. Plus he fought dirty. Peter would use the environment to his advantage and was surprisingly sneaky.
"Where did you learn to fight?" Oliver asked curiously.
"Nowhere. I never learned how to fight properly. I just learned from experience and your lessons really helped." Peter said as he punched the last guy, knocking him out.
"I only gave you two lessons." Oliver pointed out.
"I'm a quick study." Peter said happily.
"Really? You've never had lessons before?" Oliver asked in surprise.
"Nope. You're the first one to teach me how to fight." Peter said cheerfully.
"Huh." Oliver said thoughtfully.
"Why? Did I impress you?" Peter asked smugly.
"Yeah, you did. You're amazing." Oliver complimented him.
"Thank you!" Peter said happily.
"Are you hungry?" Oliver asked remembering he needed to feed Peter.
"Starving." Peter answered.
"Let's head back then and get you something to eat." Oliver said and Peter happily followed him back home. Oliver made sure a big meal was made for Peter once they got back home. Peter ate a lot and Oliver felt like he was watching Flash eat.
"Is there anything you want to talk about before heading to bed?" Oliver asked knowing Peter was going through a lot.
"Yeah, I have a question." Peter said as he finished up eating his meal.
"What's up?" Oliver asked.
"Out of the four people who wanted to take me in, why did you volunteer? I looked you up and you have a company to run. You be a vigilante during the night. You have a team of people but you don't study me. What's your deal?" Peter asked in suspicion.
"I didn't want you to be stutied like some lab rat. The Bat and Supes can be... overbearing and I think you should have a shot at a normal-ish life." Oliver explained his actions.
"You have yet to really interrogate me. Why trust me?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Because I saw how confused and hurt you were. You were cleared by Flash and you have yet to turn on me. I don't think you will." Oliver said sincerely and Peter nodded.
"Thanks." Peter thanked him.
"No problem Pete." Oliver said then left Peter to ponder.
The next day Peter came to him early in the morning excitedly.
"I'm starving also I want a tour of your company." Peter said excitedly.
"A tour?" Oliver asked in confusion.
"Yeah, a tour! I want to know what you actually do with your company and what technology you have." Peter said eagerly.
"Alright, I'll give you a tour after breakfast." Oliver agreed. Oliver got ready then made sure Peter had a large breakfast.
"Why do you want to know about my company?" Oliver asked Peter at breakfast.
"Truth is I'm looking for somewhere to work. I need to know if your company is somewhere I would like to work." Peter said honestly.
"Should I treat this as an interview then?" Oliver asked curiously.
"Not yet. I want to scope out my options. Maybe accept that offer of going to college first. I would like to know more about your company though." Peter said and Oliver nodded.
"Alright, I'll show you around." Oliver said wondering what Peter would think about his company.
"Thanks! I'm looking forward to it." Peter said happily.
Oliver brought Peter to work and slowly realized that Peter was going to compare his company to his competitors. Batman lived in Gotham and Peter would no doubt check out Wayne Labs. Not to mention Superman would warn Peter about Lex Corps.
Oliver then did his best to impress Peter and make him want to stay. Peter was smart and intelligent. He kept pointing out how to improve things and knew a surprising amount of information about running a business.
"Where did you learn so much about running a business?" Oliver asked him curiously.
"My old mentors actually taught me quite a bit about running a business. They had their own company, Stark Industries. Pep said I had a chance to take over the company and taught me quite a lot. Tony only helped a bit because he didn't like running the company." Peter chuckled.
"You are extremely talented. If you ever do need a job you are free to work here." Oliver said hoping Peter would work for him.
"Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind." Peter said and Oliver hoped Peter would eventually take the offer.
Who knows what the Bat and Supes might do to make Peter want to stay with them? How can he even compete with them? How does he convince Peter to choose to stay with him? No, he can't keep Peter. Peter is eighteen. Peter wants to live in Queens, New York. Peter wouldn't just move in with him? Why would he?
Peter needs a therapist and a home. A home Oliver could easily provide but he knew it was ultimately up to Peter if he wanted to stay or not. How in the world could he convince Peter to stay in Star City though? Peter wants to go to college. Peter doesn't want to stay.
Oliver sighed as he realized that he couldn't make Peter do anything. If Peter wants to go to college Oliver will let him go to college. Peter deserved to live his life however he wanted to. That doesn't mean Oliver can't spoil Peter while he is staying with him though.
Oliver made sure Peter had a big lunch then took him shopping for new clothes and bought whatever Peter said he even liked. Anything that caught Peter's attention Oliver would buy for him and even had a special bow ordered for Peter that wouldn't break in his hands. Oliver made sure Peter got special arrows too. Oliver gave him his new identity and birth certificate.
"Oliver, why does it say my last name is Queen?" Peter asked curiously.
"You said you didn't have a last name so I thought you could have mine. You could be my son and- I- I figured why not?" Oliver stuttered out nervously.
"You're not trying to adopt me are you?" Peter asked him.
"No, it's just paperwork. Something to make you officially exist." Oliver said nervously.
"You made my middle name Scott. You named me Peter Scott Queen." Peter said in disbelief.
"You never told me your middle name either so I just made one up for you." Oliver admitted in embarrassment.
"As much as I love having an identity now, I think I should wait until I've been to Superman's and Batman's place first to make my last name Queen. I don't want to make anything official until I've decided who I'll be "staying" with." Peter said putting air quotes around staying.
"Oh, yeah. Sure. I'll just keep this until you're ready." Oliver said taking the birth certificate and identity back.
"Did you really want me to be your son?" Peter asked chuckling.
"No, maybe, why not? I would allow you to go to college and I can provide for you. I just feel like I could take care of you, if you wanted that. I'm not going to force you to do anything. It's your choice." Oliver said moving his hands as he talked and pacing a bit nervously.
"I'll think about it. I'll make sure to remember this conversation when I decide." Peter said and Oliver couldn't help but smile in hope.
Oliver made sure Peter had plenty to eat for dinner then taught Peter some more stuff about fighting before heading out together as vigilantes.
The next day Peter's special bow and arrows were done being made and Oliver presented them to him.
"A bow?" Peter asked grabbing it.
"Built from a titanium alloy so it's tougher to break and I got you special arrows too. This should be able to make it so you don't accidentally break it." Oliver said happily.
"How is it still bendy?" Peter asked in fascination as he knocked an arrow.
"I don't actually know the science of it all but this bow is nearly indestructible. I also have extra strings if the string snaps." Oliver said presenting the extra strings too.
"How did you figure out how to make this?" Peter asked curiously.
"I actually had a team of scientists and engineers help me. I can introduce you to them if you'd like to talk about all the science of it." Oliver offered.
"Nah I already figured it out but thanks for the offer." Peter said testing out the bow and actually hitting the target this time.
"Nice shot." Oliver praised him.
"Thanks, do you think I can take the G.E.D today?" Peter asked eagerly.
"Yeah, I can set that up for you. You do need an identity though." Oliver said and Peter sighed.
"I guess I can wait a couple more weeks." Peter said reluctantly.
"You just arrived in this new universe. You don't need to set up everything right away." Oliver comforted him.
"I guess you're right. I should probably get used to this universe first and myself." Peter said glaring at the legs that protruded from his back.
"You have plenty of time to get used to things. You're not alone." Oliver said sincerely.
"Thanks. If I do end up choosing someone else can I still come to visit? I like hanging out with you." Peter asked nervously.
"Of course, you're always welcome here." Oliver said genuinely.
"Thanks." Peter hugged him and Oliver hugged him back gently, making sure he didn't touch Peter's back legs.
Chapter 11: Bad First Impression
Chapter Text
Peter spent three more days with Oliver and honestly he loved it. Oliver always gave him lots of food and taught him new ways to fight. Peter was actually learning how to use a bow properly and he loved experimenting and making new trick arrows for Oliver and himself to use. Peter even had the opportunity to make more web fluid and upgrade Karen's defense systems.
Then Superman knocked on the door.
"Supes, what are you doing here?" Oliver asked opening the door.
"I'm here to take Peter home." Superman said and Peter huffed.
"For a week." Peter said his back legs chittering in annoyance.
"I'm aware. I'll fly us there." Superman said offering his hand.
"Don't forget your bow." Oliver said offering a suitcase of things Peter now owned.
"Thanks Oliver." Peter hugged him goodbye then picked up his suitcase.
"Let's go." Superman said and Peter hesitantly stepped towards him.
"Okay, don't drop me." Peter said wearily and took Superman's hand. Superman held him close then took off into the air. Peter closed his eyes as the wind buffeted against his face. Peter put his mask on and took a deep breath as Superman flew across the sky.
They landed gently in a corn field and Peter quickly seperated himself from Superman to take in his surroundings. No longer was he in Oliver's cozy mansion but in a field with bugs and corn. There was a barn and a small house in the distance. The sounds of different animals all around overwhelmed him a bit as he tried to process everything around him.
"I'll help you take your things inside." Clark said and Peter nodded as he adjusted to the sounds of the farm. Peter noticed Clark waiting on him and followed after him warily. Clark brought him into the quaint little house and Peter chittered nervously as Clark greeted his wife.
"Lois this is Peter, Peter this is my wife Lois." Clark introduced him.
"Hello Peter." A younger man greeted him.
"You're Conner." Peter said in realization.
"I'm just here to tell you, you won't be welcome here. You should join the Young Justice League instead and stay with us." Conner said aggressively.
"Uh- are you inviting me to be a part of your super group?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Yeah, away from Kal." Conner said putting an arm around Peter's shoulder and glaring at his father.
"I'll have to think about it." Peter said using his back legs to push Conner away from him.
"I'll show you the guest room and we can get you settled in." Clark said and Peter nodded following him awkwardly. Clark brought him to his room then left him to unpack alone.
Clark didn't even acknowledge Conner. What happened between them? Was Clark that bad of a dad? Clark said something about Conner being his clone. Was that seriously why they didn't get along? Peter felt furious on Conner's behalf and thought more about his offer to join the Young Justice League.
"Karen, what information do you have on the Kent family and their alter ego's?" Peter asked needing more information about them.
"Superman also known as Kal-El or Clark Kent is an alien from the planet Krypton. Superboy also known as Kon-El or Conner Kent is a clone made from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor." Karen informed him.
"Who's Lex Luthor?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Local billionaire, owner of Lex Corporation, and Superman's rival." Karen explained.
"Hm, and Superman's powers include super hearing, right?" Peter asked as he unpacked just a small bit of his stuff.
"Correct, it's safe to assume he can hear us right now." Karen informed him.
"Yeah, nosey bastard." Peter chuckled and smiled to himself as he knows Kal heard him.
"I do not advise antagonizing your current care provider." Karen chastised him lightly.
"I'm eighteen. What's he going to do, punish me? I'm not his kid and he can't put me in jail for being a bit rude." Peter said smugly.
"True as that is, Kal-El is stronger than you." Karen pointed out.
"Eh-he's a superhero. I'll be fine." Peter said a hint of fear entering his voice.
It is true that Kal-El is stronger than him. Peter could never take him in a fight. Not here at least. This is Kal's home. He has the advantage.
"Do you think it's safe here?" Peter asked wondering whether he should try running away.
"Relatively." Karen answered him.
"Yeah, I'll keep my guard up." Peter said having a sinking feeling that this week wasn't going to be that enjoyable. There was a knock on his door and Peter opened it. Kal was on the other side.
"It's lunch time." Kal informed him.
"Okay." Peter said and Kal led the way to the dinning room. Peter saw a lot of food put out for them and grabbed a plate. Peter took his fair share then sat down to eat.
Peter felt awkward as they ate silently together, Conner glaring at Kal the whole time. Kal just ignored Conner the whole time and Peter felt upset on Conner's behalf.
So Conner is a clone? Why does that matter? He still lives here though. Clark must still care for him somewhat. If this is how it's going to be the whole time living with Clark will be insufferable.
Peter could hear himself chittering and blushed in embarrassment as Clark looked annoyed.
Fuck, stop, stop, stop. Why can't I just hold still?!
Peter forced his back legs to stop moving by holding them tight against his back. It was uncomfortable and Peter hated it but he did not want to annoy Superman more than he already did. Peter tried to focus back on eating but he was having a hard time keeping his back legs still. Peter's legs chittered together again and Clark huffed.
"Stop making that noise." Clark snapped at him. Peter was taken aback and felt fearful again. Peter's back legs chittered again but more quietly and shakily.
"Peter, stop doing that." Clark said sternly.
"I can't. It's part of my spider genes. I can't control it." Peter explained nervously.
"Stop lying to me." Kal said and Peter huffed.
"I'm not lying!" Peter said raising his voice.
"Yes you are, just stop it." Clark said and Peter chittered louder.
"I can't!" Peter yelled at him furiously.
"Don't talk back to me." Kal said and Peter hissed.
"That's it, go to your room!" Kal yelled at him.
"Gladly!" Peter yelled back and stomped to the guest room in rage. Peter felt his anger take over and green filled up his vision as he slammed his door close. Peter destroyed the guest room, hissing and yelling in rage.
How dare Kal speak to him like that! Kal isn't even his dad! Peter now knows who he won't be staying with!
It took a few minutes for Peter to combat his rage and calm himself down. When Peter regained his vision the guest room was completely destroyed. The only stuff that survived was his personal items that Oliver gave him and his suit. Peter then noticed Conner watching from his door way. Peter froze and didn't know what to say or do. Conner held up his phone and offered it to him. Peter looked at him in confusion but took Conner's phone. Conner had the notes app open and written a message.
'Don't say anything. Do you have a phone?'
Peter nodded then handed his phone back and the phone Oliver gave him over to Conner. Conner added his contact then gave his phone back.
'Why are we being quiet?' Peter texted Conner.
'I don't want Kal to hear.' Conner texted him then looked around wearily.
'I don't hear him listening. What's up?'
'You're a genius right?'
'Why?' Peter texted a bit taken aback by the assumption.
'Can you hack into the Zeta Tube and get us into the Watchtower?'
'Maybe, why would we go there?'
'Need teleportation. We can go there then teleport to the YJL base!'
'Are you sure this is a good idea?' Peter texted looking at him in amusement. Conner nodded and Peter sighed.
'I can do it. Where's the nearest Zeta Tube?'
'There's one in the shed!'
'Alright. How are we going to get there?'
'Follow my lead.'
"Hey, Peter do you want me to show you around the farm?" Conner asked him out loud.
"Sure, I would love to." Peter agreed and together they headed out. Conner actually did show him around a bit then brought him to the shed. Peter quickly hacked back into the system and together they headed up to the Watchtower.
"Woah, are we in space?" Peter asked looking out the window in awe and fear.
"Yeah, let's put in the coordinates quick." Conner said and Peter looked at him.
"What?" Conner asked.
"Do you know the coordinates I need to put in?" Peter asked.
"Just put in Mount Justice." Conner said and Peter sighed having to look up where Mount Justice was before putting in the coordinates.
"Okay, let's go." Peter said and Conner followed him back into the Zeta Tube and they teleported to Mount Justice.
"Cool cave, I got to ask though what's with the whole naming everything Justice thing?" Peter asked looking around curiously.
"Eh- Batman came up with the name." Conner said shrugging.
"So about what you saw earlier-"
"I won't say a word, promise." Conner said and Peter smiled.
"So, where is your team?" Peter asked looking around the empty cave in curiosity.
"They're probably training, let's go introduce you to the team." Conner said excitedly. Conner led him to the training room then froze at the doorway. Peter didn't know why until he saw a big black bat standing over them.
"Peter, what are you doing here?" Batman questioned them and Peter chuckled nervously.
"Hey Batman. Nice seeing you again." Peter greeted him nervously.
"I just brought Peter here to introduce him to the team." Conner said cooly.
"And does Superman know about this?" Batman asked them skeptically.
"Of course he knows! We would never leave without his permission." Peter chuckled, smiling anxiously.
"You're a horrible liar." Batman said and Peter sighed in defeat.
"I know." Peter said blushing in embarrassment.
"Did you put him up to this?" Batman asked Conner.
"I mean, yeah but Kal was being rude and sent Peter into a rage." Conner defended himself.
"Is anyone hurt?" Batman asked flatly.
"No, Peter's room didn't make it though." Conner said smirking and Peter bowed his head in shame. Peter heard himself chittering and tensed trying his best to make himself stop.
"Peter, what are you doing?" Batman asked tilting his head at him.
"I'm trying to stop chittering." Peter said truthfully.
"Why?" Batman asked and Peter looked at him miserably, giving up on making himself stop chittering.
"Because it's annoying and it bothers people. I'm trying to control it but I can't." Peter admitted sadly.
"Peter, did Clark yell at you for chittering?" Bruce asked seriously. Peter only nodded feeling guilty for being such a burden.
"Did Oliver yell at you for chittering?" Bruce asked and Peter shook his head.
"Oliver never got annoyed because of my chittering." Peter said realizing Oliver never said anything about his chittering. Oliver just helped him cope with the anger he was feeling and even liked it when he chittered to scare criminals.
"You shouldn't repress something that comes naturally to you Peter. Wait here, I need to have a talk with Superman." Bruce said sounding deathly serious and Peter didn't move an inch as Bruce walked past him.
"So, crew this is Peter. Peter this Nightwing, Red Robin and Beast Boy." Conner introduced them.
"Karen fill me in?" Peter asked.
"Nightwing also known as Richard "Dick" Grayson. Red Robin also known as Tim Drake. Beast Boy also known as Garfield Logan." Karen informed him.
"Who's Karen?" Nightwing asked him in distrust.
"My AI." Peter answered shortly.
"You have an AI?" Tim asked excitedly.
"I do. My mentor made her but I know her code well." Peter said happily.
"B said you already know our identities how's that?" Dick asked him.
"Oh, Karen hacked into his servers. Plus the JL's servers. I didn't exactly ask her to do that but she is known to be quite protective." Peter explained happily.
"So, how smart are you?" Tim asked skeptically.
"I have an IQ of 250 if that's what you're asking." Peter answered honestly. Tim smiled at him his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Okay, I have a strange question. Do you know any acrobatics?" Dick asked curiously.
"Sort of, I used to take ballet before becoming Spider-Man." Peter admitted in embarrassment.
"And after you became Spider-Man?" Dick asked.
"Well, I wouldn't call it acrobatics. Sometimes I like to do flips and stuff when I'm swinging. It's really just for fun." Peter chuckled, feeling embarrassed.
"Swinging?" Dick said in confusion.
"You know, swinging. Like from my spider webs. I'll show you." Peter said looking around the cave and deemed it big enough. Peter then swung up to the ceiling then swung around the room in glee. Peter did a backflip in the air then stuck the landing in front of them.
"Swinging." Peter said grandly as Dick was now looking at him in excitement.
"Ooo! I have a question! Can you turn into a giant spider, like this?" Garfield asked, turning into a giant spider.
"Uh-no, but that's pretty cool." Peter said looking at him in interest.
"Peter, it's time to go." Clark's voice startled him and Peter looked at him in annoyance.
"What do you want?" Peter asked, chittering loudly in anger.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you. Please come back." Clark pleaded with him.
"Fine." Peter reluctantly agreed and went with Clark back to his home.
"Peter we need to talk about your anger." Clark said once they got back to the farm house.
"Another thing I can't control." Peter said flatly.
"You destroyed our guest bedroom!" Clark yelled at him.
"Well sorry you don't have a training room." Peter snapped back.
"No being Spider-Man the rest of the week." Clark said snatching Peter's suit off his belt.
"What? You can't do that. I am not your son! I am eighteen and I can make my own decisions! You can't ground me!" Peter yelled furiously. Suddenly Clark dropped the Spider-Egg, as Cisco dubbed it.
"What happened?" Clark asked in confusion.
"Karen protecting herself. That's right, I know about your weakness Kal. I embedded a small piece of kryptonight in Karen in case something like this happened." Peter said snatching up the Spider-Egg and putting it back on his belt.
"Don't ever touch my suit again." Peter hissed at Kal. Kal looked at him in sadness and guilt.
"Sorry, I just think it's safer if you avoid being Spider-Man for a while until you can control your anger." Clark said calmly.
"I can control my anger fine." Peter spat, hissing.
"My guest bedroom begs to differ." Clark said and Peter huffed.
"Right now, you're the only reason I'm so angry! Didn't the Bat warn you about that?!" Peter yelled his vision going green.
"Peter, you have to calm down." Clark said and Peter chittered louder.
"Calm down! You want me to calm down!?" Peter yelled and his rage overtook him covering his world in green. Kal embraced him, holding him still. Peter sturggled, spat and tried to bite Kal, his rage not subsiding. Kal just held him still until he ran out of energy and his anger turned into helplessness.
"Let me go. Please." Peter pleaded, tears streaking down his face now.
"Are you still angry?" Kal asked him and Peter wanted to struggle but was too exhausted to do so.
"Please just let me go." Peter pleaded weakly. Kal let him go and Peter collapsed to the ground weakly.
"Please just leave me alone." Peter said getting up and going back to the guest room. Kal watched him but didn't say a word. Peter closed his door then collapsed to the floor and cried into his knees.
He didn't want to be here. He didn't want to stay with Kal-El.
Peter got himself together enough to drag himself to the bed and lie down. Peter broke down again, sobbing into his pillow.
His limbs hurt and ached. He couldn't breathe properly. Even his back legs twitched in exhaustion instead of chittering together naturally. Peter could feel his form shaking and twitching in exhaustion as he sobbed weakly. Peter whimpered as he could feel his body shutting down. Peter fought to stay awake but every time he opened his eyed his whole body hurt. Peter felt a few more tears drip down his face as he passed out.
When he woke up he found Kal in his room cleaning up the mess Peter made earlier. Peter's heartbeat picked up in fear and anger.
"What are you doing here?" Peter asked sitting up, green already at the edges of his vision.
"I came here to apologize. I never meant to cause you any pain." Kal apologized to him. Peter ignored him looking away from him angrily.
"Peter, I want to help you through this." Kal said and Peter continued to ignore him.
"I'm sorry for holding you still but you need a proper outlet. You can't just destroy the place." Kal said and Peter sniffled trying not to cry again.
"I know, I'm sorry." Peter apologized for destroying the guest bedroom.
"I forgive you, we'll work on that later. Are you hungry? I made dinner." Kal said gently and Peter nodded.
"Okay, do you need help standing up?" Kal asked and Peter shook his head getting up by himself. Kal led the way to the dining room and Peter followed him silently.
It was another quiet meal but Peter didn't mind the silence. Guilt and shame clawed at his conscience.
He shouldn't have overreacted. He should have controlled his anger. Kal was just stopping him from destroying another room in the house. He shouldn't have destroyed the guest room.
"I'm going to bed." Peter said as he finished his meal.
"Goodnight Peter." Lois said and Peter felt another ounce of guilt for destroying his room.
"Goodnight." Peter said and went back to his room. Peter saw the mess he made and desperately tried to fix everything and clean up.
"Hey." Kal knocked on his door and Peter looked towards him in surprise.
"Hi." Peter greeted him awkwardly.
"Do you need help?" Kal asked and Peter looked around the room sadly.
"I wouldn't mind." Peter said hesitantly. Kal started helping him clean up and there was a tense silence between them.
"You know I don't blame you for being angry at me." Kal said and Peter looked at him in surprise.
"You don't?" Peter questioned him.
"No, I don't. We didn't exactly start on the best terms and I would like you to know that I'm not usually so..." Kal trailed off thinking for a moment.
"Uptight?" Peter offered.
"I was going to say quick to anger but that works too. It's just what Kon and I have it's not exactly a good relationship. He's like my son but he's not really. He's a clone made from my DNA and the DNA from my archenemy. He was made to kill me." Kal explained in frustration.
"I'm sorry." Peter apologized feeling even more guilty for taking sides so quickly.
"It's complicated. I never meant to take my anger out on you. I'm sorry." Kal apologized to him sincerely.
"I forgive you." Peter hesitantly forgave him.
"Is there anything I can do to help you through your rage?" Kal asked and Peter looked away from him as he saw green creeping at the edges of his vision.
"We could spar. It would make going through my rages easier." Peter said hesitantly.
"Okay, we can spar. Anything else?" Kal asked.
"Could you train me? You must have a very different style of fighting than the Arrow." Peter suggested sort of excited now.
"Yeah, of course I can train you. For now I think you should get some sleep." Kal said as they finished cleaning up the room.
"Yeah, goodnight Kal." Peter bid him goodnight.
"Goodnight Peter." Kal closed the door on his way out and Peter smiled.
Maybe staying with Superman won't be that bad.
Chapter 12: Clark Kent
Chapter Text
Clark felt so bad for hurting Peter. He didn't mean to yell or make Peter rage. Batman properly chastised him for getting mad at Peter for chittering. Peter couldn't control that part of him. Clark was still slightly pissed at Peter for destroying the guest bedroom but already forgave him.
The next morning Clark found a huge web strung up in Peter's room and Peter was sleeping peacefully in the web.
"Peter!" Clark yelled at him, startling him awake. Peter yelped as he fell off his web and onto the ground.
"What?" Peter asked getting up off the ground in pain.
"What is this?" Clark asked motioning to the huge spider web.
"It's my bed." Peter said looking up at his web.
"You already have a bed." Clark pointed out in annoyance.
"Yeah, but it's not comfy." Peter complained and Clark pinched his nose in stress.
"Okay, just make sure you clean this up before breakfast." Clark said and Peter chittered, scowling at him.
"It'll dissolve by itself. My bed webs only last eight hours." Peter said defensively.
"Then keep your webs in your room." Clark said not wanting the house to be a mess. Peter chittered louder.
"But my normal webs only dissolve in two hours!" Peter yelled at him.
"Keep your webs in your room." Clark said sternly and Peter sighed sadly chittering quietly now.
"You can join us for breakfast after you clean your room." Clark said and Peter grumbled but started cleaning up his room. Clark made his way to the kitchen and finished up making breakfast for everyone. Peter joined them for breakfast but looked really sad, like he was grieving.
"Hey, buddy. Do you want to talk?" Clark asked him and Peter hissed at him.
"Why are you so upset?" Clark asked and Peter chittered loudly, ignoring him.
"Peter, talk to me bud." Clark gently prompted him.
"No, I don't want to talk!" Peter yelled, hissing at him angrily.
"Why not?" Clark asked in confusion.
"Because you made me get rid of my web!" Peter yelled at him then hugged himself in sadness and grief.
"Why is the loss of your web making you so sad?" Clark asked, not understanding.
"Because I'm a spider. My web makes me feel safe and you had me tear it down." Peter snapped, sniffling.
"Oh, Peter. I'm sorry." Clark apologized.
"I don't care. I'm not your son. Stop treating me like a kid!" Peter yelled at him his eyes blazing green.
"You are a kid." Clark tried to reason with him.
"I'm not a kid. I'm eighteen! I want to go to college and be a vigilante! I'm not your son and you aren't my dad! So stop teating me like you can control me!" Peter yelled at him.
"You are a prisoner." Clark snapped and Peter took a step back, his hearbeat picking up in fear.
"I'm sorry. I... I didn't mean to say that. You're not a prisoner. I just wanted to take care of you. Be your guardian." Clark apologized in guilt.
"I-I don't need a guardian." Peter stuttered out still defensive but fearful.
"Okay, I'm sorry. Can we talk about this?" Clark asked and Peter looked away from him but nodded. There was a tense silence and neither of them spoke.
"Kal can I talk to you?" Lois asked him, glaring at him. Clark nodded and followed Lois to the other room.
"Kal, what are you doing?" Lois asked him furiously.
"I... I don't know." Clark said burying his face into his hands.
"You know he has anger issues and you know he's part spider. Why in the world would you tell him take down his web?" Lois asked him furiously.
"His room is a mess." Clark said and Lois sighed.
"He is our guest. Now stop being so rude to him." Lois said and Clark nodded.
"I'm sorry, I just don't know how to relate to him. He's been furious ever since he came here and he can't act out like that in the real world." Clark defended his actions.
"I know but you should teach him that instead of yelling at him. Give him a bit of kindness and space. He's already been cleared as not a threat." Lois reminded him.
"I know. I'll try to give him his space." Clark reluctantly agreed.
"Don't yell at him again." Lois said before they returned to the dining room.
"I won't." Clark said and Lois kissed him before returning to the dining room. Peter was still eating and hissed at Clark when he came into the room.
"I'm not here to fight. I was just going to suggest while you're here, you could help with the farm work. If you want to." Clark said calmly and Peter just glared at him.
"You said earlier that you wanted to spar. We could do that after I'm done patrolling Metropolis." Clark suggested.
"You're seriously not going to let me go out as Spider-Man?" Peter asked him souding betrayed.
"Peter, I don't want you to accidentally kill someone because of your rage." Clark explained seriously.
"Fuck you." Peter said and stormed out of the room. Clark heard Peter web his way up to the roof of the barn and sighed.
"He's on top of the barn." Clark said in exasperation.
"Give him space." Lois said and Clark reluctantly did so, keeping an ear out for Peter's movements to make sure he didn't run away. Peter didn't run away but he sat on the roof muttering curses at Clark and crying.
"I don't want to be here. I can't wait until this stupid week is over." Clark heard him say and sighed.
Peter hates him. How does he fix this? Can he fix this? Why can't Peter see that he's just trying to protect him?
Clark went on patrol, giving Peter his space. Kal couldn't stop himself from listening for Peter every now and then though to make sure he was okay. Peter was not okay. Kon tried joining Peter on the roof and tried comforting him.
"Hey, what are you doing up here?" Kon asked sitting beside Peter.
"How could you not tell me you were meant to kill him?" Peter asked angrily.
"I... he told you that?" Kon asked in disbelief.
"Is it true?" Peter asked sadly.
"Yeah, but I don't want to do that anymore. We're past that."
"It doesn't look like you're past that."
"It's complicated."
"He said the same thing. He was angry at you and he took it out on me!" Peter yelled furiously.
"Hey! What he does is not my fault!" Kon yelled back.
"You could at least try talking out your stupid issues. I'm tired of dealing with that entitled jerk!" Peter said that and Clark sighed in sadness and guilt.
"He's doesn't want to talk to me." Kon said and Clark stopped listening.
He did want to talk to Kon, he just never knew what to say. Kon was made to kill him, an abomination, a clone, and yet people expect him to treat Kon like a son. He never asked Kon to be made. He never wanted Kon to look to him for guidance.
Kon though still came to him. Kon still looked up to him despite everything he's done. Kon still thought of him as "dad". A father figure to despise and look towards because there's no way Kal would ever allow Lex to parent him.
Kal focused on patrol and promised himself that he would try to do better, be better for Kon and Peter. When he got back it was nearly dinner time and Peter ignored him again.
"Peter-" Peter hissed at him and Kal sighed leaving him alone.
This went on for a few days Peter refusing to acknowledge him and Kal unable to talk to him. He was running out of time to make amends.
"Peter, can we please talk." Kal pleaded with him.
"No." Peter hissed at him.
"I know you don't like me. I just needed to say I'm sorry. I should've treated you better." Kal apologized sincerely.
"Go fuck yourself." Peter said and Kal sighed in frustration but left him alone. The final day came and Batman came to take Peter away.
Chapter 13: Introducing the Wayne Family
Chapter Text
Peter was so glad to finally leave Kal. As he faced Bruce though he felt nervous.
"Hello Peter." Bruce greeted him.
"Hello." Peter greeted him tensely.
"Has Clark been treating you well?" Bruce asked and Peter frowned, shaking his head.
"Kal, what did you do?" Bruce asked furiously.
"I... I messed up." Kal said and Peter hissed at him.
"I'm disappointed in you." Bruce said then walked to his car. Peter followed him and looked at the car in surprise. It wasn't like any car Peter has seen before. It looked heavily armored and it was huge.
"What kind of car is this?" Peter asked curiously.
"This is the Batmobile. You can ride in the front." Bruce said and Peter joined him in the Batmobile curiously.
"Woah, this is so cool." Peter said briefly putting on his mask so Karen could point out how the vehicle was made and what it did. The batmobile was equipped with all sorts of weapons and gadgets.
"I have a no killing rule in Gotham." Bruce said as he began to drive.
"Huh?" Peter said not paying attention.
"I have a no killing rule. Will that be a problem?" Bruce asked simply.
"No, I don't intend to kill anyone." Peter chuckled.
"Good." Bruce looked pleased and Peter tilted his head at him.
"Do you have any other rules?" Peter asked curiously.
"I also have a no meta's rule in Gotham but that's more towards unwanted vigilantes and heros. You can stay and I have a son, Duke who is also a meta." Bruce informed him and Peter smiled.
"What powers does he have?" Peter asked eagerly.
"I'll let him tell you." Bruce said and focused on driving.
"I can't wait to meet them." Peter said and went back to examining the Batmobile. Karen also showed him a list of Batman's children and some surface information about them.
"Wait, Dick and Tim are your sons?" Peter asked in surprise.
"You didn't know?" Bruce asked in confusion.
"I mean I met them earlier and I didn't really read into them. I knew you had kids but I didn't go over their profiles." Peter said sort of excited to meet Bruce's children now.
"I haven't been able to get your AI out of my systems." Bruce said flatly.
"Sorry, I know it's a breach of privacy but you sort of literally kidnapped me so..." Peter trailed off shrugging.
"It's very formidable." Bruce said and Peter smiled.
"Thanks! If Tony was still around he would have loved to hear that." Peter said with a hint of sadness in his voice as he grieved his old mentor.
"May I ask what happened?" Bruce asked gently.
"He sacrificed himself to kill Thanos and his army. He saved the whole universe." Peter said sadly.
"He sounded like a real hero." Bruce said simply.
"I didn't want him to be a hero. I just wanted him to be my mentor." Peter started to cry in grief.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Bruce said with little to no emotion in his voice.
Peter had a sneaking suspicion that Bruce never showed emotion.
"My youngest son, Damian, has a cat, dog, and cow. You're not allergic are you?" Bruce asked and Peter looked at him skeptically.
"You took my blood, you must already know." Peter said looking at him in confusion.
"We were able to examine your DNA but the radiation in your blood made it impossible to find anything more about your biology." Bruce said sounding mildly miffed.
"Yeah, it does that. To answer your question, no, I'm not allergic to any animals." Peter said smirking.
"Are there any allergies I do need to worry about?" Bruce asked.
"Yes actually, annoyingly Strange's spell made me more spider-like and I figured out I'm allergic to peppermint, mint, lavander, citrus, cinnamon, essential oils and vinegar if I drink it." Peter listed off in annoyance.
"You're not supposed to drink vinegar." Bruce said and Peter shrugged. Bruce actually smiled in amusement and Peter felt proud of himself.
"I assume you are going through the files on me and my kids right now." Bruce said as Peter went quiet again.
"Yeah, real interesting stuff. You have a surprising amount of children." Peter said, Karen showing him the files.
"I know I can't stop you from being a vigilante. I do want you to join me on patrol though. There are territory lines that aren't meant to be crossed." Bruce informed him.
"Territory lines?" Peter asked in confusion.
"My kids like patrolling their own sections of Gotham." Bruce informed him.
"Oh, makes sense. Sort of like Dare Devil owns Hell's Kitchen while I patrol Queens." Peter said and Bruce raised an eyebrow at him but didn't question him.
"Man, you have a lot of villains in Gotham." Peter said as he researched Gotham.
"It's being handled. I've caught most of them." Bruce said flatly.
"Still, your crime rate is outrageous." Peter said frowning.
"I've done my best to keep Gotham from falling apart." Bruce said sounding sad.
"Do you guys have the R.A.F.T?" Peter asked curiously.
"The Raft?" Bruce said in confusion.
"Yeah, it's a supermax prison in the middle of the ocean. The worst of the worst go there." Peter explained.
"We have a supermax prison. It's not in the middle of the ocean though. It's on an island." Bruce said glancing at him curiously.
"Do you at least have S.H.I.E.L.D?" Peter asked and Bruce's silence was enough of an answer.
"You know a super secret service part of the government to protect the world and it's inhabitants. They brought the Avengers together. Did a super secret service bring the JL together?" Peter asked.
"No, we don't have that here." Bruce said and Peter sighed sadly.
"It's probably for the best. H.Y.D.R.A took over S.H.I.E.L.D in my universe anyway. That is until Cap stopped them." Peter said smiling.
"Cap? Like Captain Marvel?" Bruce asked curiously.
"No, Cap like Captain America. He doesn't exist here but he was a war hero. A super soldier." Peter explained happily.
"Earlier you said you know a Captain Marvel. Who was that?" Bruce asked.
"Oh, she's a super human. She has these light or more to say electricity powers and she's super powerful." Peter said remembering how Captain Marvel made her entrance to the battle.
"Our Captain Marvel is pretty much the same but he got his powers from magic." Bruce explained.
"Magic, I hate magic so much." Peter snapped, chittering loudly.
"Me too." Bruce said and Peter stopped chittering.
Is he actually getting along with Bruce?
Peter smiled and looked out the window as a comfortable silence filled up the space. Gotham was muggy and miserable looking. It was also raining. Bruce took them through a secret entrance and the car stopped in the middle of a huge cave.
"Woah, what is all this stuff?" Peter asked as he got out of the car and spotted a giant penny.
"My trophies. Two-Face tried to crush me with that penny." Bruce said and Peter nodded in appreciation.
"And the dinosaur?" Peter asked spotting the giant T-Rex.
"That's a story for another time. Peter this is Damian. Damian this Peter, the spider meta." Bruce introduced them. Peter looked down at the kid who looked no older than ten in a brightly colored costume. Peter noticed he still had his mask on and quickly retracted it. The kid's eyes widened and he looked at him in suspicion.
"Are you really from another universe?" Damian questioned him.
"Yes." Peter nodded.
"Do you really not have a last name?" Damian asked aggressively.
"Yup, no last name." Peter said really wanting to not even think about his last name.
"Do you have a middle name?" Damian asked.
"Scott." Peter said and Damian squinted his eyes at him.
"You just made that up." Damian said and Peter chuckled.
"Actually Oliver did." Peter corrected him.
"What is your go to weapon?" Damian asked.
"Uh-" Peter chittered and Damian looked at him expectantly. "Webs." Peter said and Damian nodded.
"Do you know how to use a sword?" Damian asked quickly.
"No, but I'm open to learning." Peter answered him. Damian looked at him skeptically then turned to Bruce.
"Father I demand you teach Peter how to use a sword." Damian said and Peter chuckled.
"We'll see if he wants to." Bruce said and Damian frowned.
"He already said he was open to learning. Teach him. Tt." Damian said huffing.
"Why don't you teach him?" Bruce asked smirking.
"Tt. I have neither the time nor patience to do something so trivial." Damian said matter of factly.
"I bet I could teach him how to use a bo staff before you can teach him how to properly use a sword." Tim said appearing beside Damian.
"I will not fall for your games Drake." Damian said, glaring at him.
"Or you're just scared you'll lose." Tim said and Damian tensed up offensively.
"Tt, I will teach Peter the best way to use a sword and you will lose." Damian said confidently.
"You guys do know I'm only here for a week, right?" Peter asked chuckling nervously.
"Then we can take turns! Each day each of us get a chance to train Peter to learn to use a new weapon!" Dick said cheerfully, jumping down from a rock.
"I call training him first!" Tim yelled quickly.
"You can all train with Peter later. First let's get Peter settled into his new room and have some lunch." Bruce said and Peter sighed in relief. Bruce started leading the way and Peter followed after him.
"Wow, this place is huge." Peter said looking around the manor in awe.
"I can give you a proper tour after lunch if you'd like." Bruce said and Peter nodded.
"Yeah, I think I'd like that." Peter said this place even bigger than Oliver's mansion.
They got to Peter's room and was surprised to find that he had a pile of gifts waiting for him.
"What's this?" Peter asked in shock and confusion.
"I told everyone you were coming and they insisted on getting you stuff to help you move in." Bruce said sounding slightly embarrassed.
"I will have to look through it all. This is unexpected." Peter said putting his suitcase to the side. Peter then looked at his door and noticed Bruce's kids all peeking through the doorway.
"You want to watch me open them." Peter said and the kids nodded excitedly.
"Alright, let's see what I got." Peter chuckled and started off with a smaller one. Peter opened it up and was surprised to find a grappling hook.
"It is in case you run out of webs." Damian said proudly.
"Thank you." Peter thanked him, having no idea how to use a grappling hook but thinks he'll be learning soon. Peter opened another gift and saw that it was a very nice camera.
"Woah, how'd you know I like photography?" Peter asked looking at them in surprise.
"I didn't but I am so glad you do!" Tim said excitedly.
"Heh, okay. Thank you." Peter said sincerely and moved onto the next gift. He unwrapped a make-up kit and looked at in confusion.
"It's to hide any bruises from patrolling! Just in case there's a gala or event we need to go to." Dick said sounding pleased with himself.
"Thanks." Peter said awkwardly, remembering Bruce is a famous billionaire. Peter quickly moved onto the next gift and unwrapped a baby otter stuffed animal.
"It's for when you get stressed." Duke said and Peter smiled.
"Thoughtful. Thanks." Peter thanked him. Peter opened the next gift and pulled out a set of daggers.
"Daggers?!" Peter yelped in surprise.
'They can be useful for a number of things.' Cass signed and Peter looked at her in surprise.
'Thank you.' Peter signed back.
"You know sign language?" Dick asked in surprise.
"Yeah, I meet a lot of people as Spider-Man. I figured I should learn." Peter explained, shrugging. Peter could see them nodding in approval and went back to opening his gifts. Peter opened the next gift and was surprised to find a gun inside.
"Who gave me this?!" Peter asked in surprise.
"I did." A voice spoke out and Peter turned to see a tall man step into view. He had a white streak in his hair that mirrored Peter's own hair. Peter stared at his green glowing eyes, stunned.
Who is this guy? Why does he look like me?
"Jason please don't tell me you gave him real bullets." Bruce pleaded with the man.
"Don't worry, theres rubber bullets. He won't kill anyone." Jason stalked off before Peter could thank him and Peter didn't know what to say.
"Who's Jason?" Peter asked not understanding what just happened.
"He's my son. He owns Crime Alley and is still mad at me for not killing Joker. He has stopped killing people though, mostly. I'm proud of him." Bruce explained.
Peter didn't know the history that they shared but was glad to see that they were at least still talking. Bruce seemed like a good dad.
"You still have another present." Stephanie said and Peter opened his last present. It was a sword.
"Why do you guys keep giving me weapons?" Peter asked in confusion and concern.
"We just want you to be safe." Stephanie answered sweetly.
"Thanks." Peter said still slightly freaked out.
"I also made you this." Bruce held out a small box and Peter approached him curiously. Peter opened the box and war surprised to find a necklace with a bat symbol as the pendant. Peter looked around and saw the other kids had the same symbol either on a necklace, keychain, pin, ring, or earring.
"Thank you." Peter said sincerely as he felt like he was being accepted into the family. Bruce helped him put it on and Peter smiled happily.
"We'll leave you to unpack. I'll call you when it's time for lunch." Bruce said.
"Okay, thank you. For the gifts and everything." Peter thanked them before they could all leave fully.
"No problem Peter. Welcome to the Wayne family." Bruce said Peter couldn't stop smiling. Bruce closed the door on his way out and Peter looked at all of his new gifts in disbelief.
The Wayne Family. They certainly are an interesting bunch.
Peter unpacked and went over more information about the Wayne family and Gotham with Karen.
"So who is Jason?" Peter asked curiously.
"Jason Todd is the adopted son of Bruce Wayne who is rumored to have died years ago." Karen informed him.
"He died? Do you know why he looks like me?" Peter asked wondering if Karen had any theories.
"According to Batman's servers there is something in this world called a Lazarus Pit. It looks similar to the pit you woke up in and is the cause for your Pit Madness. Jason Todd seems to have the same Pit Madness as shown in his actions as Red Hood, a crimelord." Karen informed him.
"What does the Lazarus Pit actually do?" Peter asked in suspicion.
"It is known to heal any injury and bring back the dead." Karen said and Peter froze.
"Does that mean Strange killed me?!" Peter asked in alarm.
"Most likely." Karen said and Peter chittered in annoyance and anger.
"I hate him." Peter said pissed and overwhelmed with anger but also grief. Peter saw green but cried into his knees still super pissed at Strange for sending him to this new universe and making it so he would never be able to see his friends again.
Suddenly there was a knock on his door and Peter did his best to get himself together.
"Come in." Peter said once he deemed himself presentable.
"It's time for lunch, are you okay?" Bruce worried over him.
"Fine." Peter sniffled, wiping away his tears. Bruce just nodded and started to lead the way. Peter followed him as to not get lost and joined everyone for lunch.
As he got to the room he saw everyone in the room talking to each other and Peter took the only empty seat right beside Bruce and right next to Jason. Jason immediately noticed him and looked down at him.
"You know I went through the pits too. I could help you with the Pit Madness." Jason offered.
"Help how?" Peter asked skeptically.
"Come on patrol with me tonight and I'll show you." Jason said excitedly.
"Jay, I was hoping Peter could join me on patrol tonight." Bruce said flatly.
"Well too bad. Peter's patrolling with me tonight. Right Peter?" Jason said.
"Right." Peter agreed honestly really curious as to how Jason would help him.
They're going through the same thing. How does Jason cope with the anger?
"Okay, just make sure you don't give him anything he's allergic to." Bruce said sternly, giving him a list.
"I promise I won't kill Peter." Jason said and Peter chuckled nervously as he got reminded that Jason is a crimelord.
"Don't worry Peter, Jay won't hurt you." Dick reassured him, immediately noticing his nervousness.
"Just because I'm a crimelord doesn't mean I can't be nice." Jason said and Peter immediately felt a bit of guilt for judging Jason so quickly.
"Okay, I'm sorry." Peter apologized quickly.
"It's fine." Jason said then a plate was put in front of him stacked high with food.
"Here you go Peter." The butler said.
"Thank you." Peter thanked him sincerely.
"Peter this is Alfred. He's my butler but he's also the one who raised me." Bruce introduced him.
"Nice to meet you Alfred." Peter greeted him respectfully.
"You too Peter." Alfred said nodding at him. Soon everyone had food and Peter started eating his meal in joy.
"So, you like photography?" Tim asked him.
"Yeah, it was more of a hobby more than anything but yeah." Peter nodded.
"Do you like to do anything else?" Duke asked excitedly.
"Duke! I actually wanted to ask you about your powers, oh- uh- and I like mechanics and building stuff and science." Peter remembered he actually needed to answer his question.
"I have light powers! I can manipulate light and stuff." Duke answered him happily.
"Cool, I'll just look at Batman's notes later." Peter said and Jason chuckled.
"I like you." Jason said smiling at him.
"Thanks, I haven't spent enough time with you to properly have an opinion on you." Peter said and Jason rolled his eyes. Dick laughed though and Peter saw Damian smiling at him.
"Before you whisk away Peter, I need to give him a tour of the manor." Bruce reminded Jason.
"Okay." Jason said with a mischievous smile on his face and Peter looked at him worriedly.
"Don't worry, this'll be fun." Jason whispered in his ear.
"Okay." Peter said trusting him.
After they were done eating Bruce started his tour of the manor. Peter followed along and was surprised how many rooms there were. About halfway through the tour Jason appeared from a hidden door in the wall and beckoned him. Peter gazed at Batman then glanced back at Jason.
'Hurry.' Jason signed to him. Peter nodded and quickly and quietly snuck away from Bruce. Jason took him into a secret hallway and Peter looked around in awe.
"What is this place?" Peter asked quietly.
"These are our secret tunnels. Well more secret than our actual secret tunnel. Let me show you around!" Jason said grandly and Peter followed him excitedly. Jason showed him all the ins and outs of the secret tunnels and how they were connected to each room in the manor. Peter followed along and was extremely facinated by it all and quickly found his way around mapping out the manor in his head.
"This place is amazing." Peter said as Jason ended the tour in the library.
"Yeah and you're free to use the tunnels anytime you like. Now let's go on patrol." Jason said bringing him through the house the normal way then down into the Batcave. When they got down there Jason handed him a motorcycle helmet and got on his motorcycle.
"You coming?" Jason asked offering his hand.
"Sure." Peter took his hand and anxiously got on behind Jason.
"Is this safe?" Peter asked as Jason started the engine.
"Of course it is." Jason said and Peter held onto him as they took off out of the cave. As they got out onto the street Peter let his suit envelope him. Jason took him to crime alley first and showed him his territory. Peter was surprised at how Jason delt with crime in the alley. He was a crimelord and criminals respected him. Peter stayed by Jason's side being friendly to whoever didn't set off his spider sense and glaring at anyone who did.
Jason always introduced him to people as Spider-Man. Peter chittered and hissed at anyone who dare mocked him. When Jason told him to attack he did so swiftly and quickly webbed up anyone Jason wanted him to. Jason would occasionally use his grappling hook to travel between buildings and Peter followed using his webs.
Jason taught him the rules of Gotham and how to properly wait for information or threaten criminals until they gave over the information. Peter didn't like how quickly violent Jason was but he was extremely effective. Jason then started to explain how he handled his anger by taking it out on the bad guys and Peter frowned.
"If I did that I would kill a lot of people. I have super strength, remember." Peter said and Jason sighed.
"Yeah, I suppose that is true." Jason sighed.
"Can we grab some dinner?" Peter asked as they have been patrolling for a while now.
"Yeah, I'll make you something back at my apartment." Jason said leading the way and Peter followed him quickly. Jason cooked them some pasta with chicken and Peter had remind him of his fast metabolism as Jason didn't make nearly enough at first.
"So are you thinking of going to college?" Jason asked as they ate.
"I really hope so. I want to go to M.I.T but I'm still exploring my options." Peter said thoughtfully.
"M.I.T?" Jason asked and Peter chuckled nervously.
"It's in Massachusetts and yes it does exist here I checked. I'm not sure if it's the elite college it was in my universe but that's why I said I'm keeping my options open." Peter explained.
"You know you could go to Gotham University. It's close and you won't have to leave New Jersey." Jason suggested.
"I'll think about it." Peter said, slightly irked that Jason was trying to make him stay in Gotham.
"Eh, it's cool." Jason shrugged then there was a knock at the door and Bruce stepped in.
"It's time for Peter to head back to the manor." Bruce said to Jason.
"Fine." Jason reluctantly agreed. Jason packed up a tuppaware of food for Peter then handed it to him.
"I'll see you later Peter." Jason bid him goodbye.
"See ya." Peter said and followed Bruce back to his car and Bruce drove him back to the manor.
"What do you think of Jason?" Bruce asked him.
"He's... nice." Peter said hesitantly.
"Really?" Bruce asked in doubt.
"He is violent but he's fun to hang out with." Peter said and Bruce nodded.
"Is that okay?" Peter asked awkwardly.
"Yes." Bruce said simply and Peter nodded going silent. When they got back to the manor Alfred had extra food waiting for him and Peter happily enjoyed another meal.
"You should head to bed." Bruce said as Peter finished eating.
"What time is it?" Peter asked still ready to do a nightly patrol.
"It's nine pm." Bruce said and Peter tilted his head at him.
"Why should I go to bed? There's still time to patrol." Peter said ready to go.
"Don't you have school tomorrow?" Bruce asked and Peter looked at him baffled.
"No, I don't have school. I graduated from high school and I'm not in college yet." Peter said and Bruce squinted at him.
"Okay, you can come on patrol with me." Bruce said and Peter followed him happily, confused as to why Bruce thought he had school. Bruce brought him to the Batcave then absently minded handed him a colorful cosutme with an R on it.
"B, this is Robin's outfit." Peter said recognizing it from going through Bruce's files earlier. Bruce just grunted and started changing into his Batsuit.
"Karen, full medical report on Bruce Wayne." Peter said putting down the outfit and letting his mask cover his face.
"Bruce Wayne hasn't slept in 38 hours and has sustained multiple injuries including two cracked ribs, a concussion, several bruises, and a cut on his right forearm." Karen informed him.
"Bruce!" Peter yelled at him in shock.
"Hm?" Bruce looked at him in confusion, half dressed in his Batsuit.
"You have a concussion." Peter snapped at him.
"Had, I'm better now." Bruce said still looking very out of it.
"You haven't slept in 38 hours. Go to sleep." Peter said sternly.
"Gotham needs me." Bruce aruged.
"I'll take care of Gotham, you go to bed and get some sleep." Peter said leading him back upstairs.
"Two-face is robbing banks." Bruce informed him as Peter took him to bed.
"I got it. I'll stop him." Peter said nodding.
"Make sure Nigma isn't up to something." Bruce said as Peter laid him down in bed.
"I will." Peter said, locating a first aid kit and quickly treating any injuries he could.
"Thanks Dick." Bruce said passing out.
"Yeah, don't worry B, I got this." Peter said as he finished dressing Bruce's wounds. Peter was worried and now understood why Bruce was acting so strange.
Bruce wasn't thinking clearly and thought he was one of his sons. Peter didn't mind but now that he was alone and had free access to the Batcave he realized he had his first taste of freedom. No one was going to watch him. No one was going to test him or keep him as a prisoner.
Peter went down to the Batcave and put on Batman's cape.
"Tonight the Spider-Bat is protecting Gotham." Peter said changing the setting in his suit so it was all black. Peter then grabbed Batman's utility belt and looked through it.
"Intresting gadgets, could be useful." Peter said and slung it over his arm and wore it like a sash.
"Karen, can you add bat ears to my suit?" Peter asked looking at Batman's helmet.
"Of course Peter." Karen responded and Peter chuckled as he could feel the pokey ears on his head.
"Alright, anything else?" Peter asked looking around. Peter spotted a grappling hook and grabbed it.
"Well, I do eventually need to learn how to use this." Peter said examining it excitedly, then adding it to the belt.
"Karen, who's Two-face again and where can I find him?" Peter asked going to the Batcomputer. Karen showed a location and info in his HUD and Peter smiled.
"Fantastic, remind me to check on Nigma later and find out who he is." Peter commanded jumping up to the cave ceiling.
"Will do." Karen responded.
"B has a pretty deep voice can you mask my voice to sound deep and threatening like his?" Peter asked as he swung to the exit of the cave.
"Yes." Karen said and Peter smiled.
"Okay, let's do this." Peter said chuckling as his voice sounded just like Bruce's Batman voice. Peter swung out of the cave and headed towards Two-Face's location.
Chapter 14: Dick Grayson
Chapter Text
Peter snunk in through a window and crawled along the ceiling. Peter observed Two-Face's men as they robbed the bank.
"Guns, of course they have guns. Let's see if we can do this quietly." Peter whispered to Karen as she highlighted the weapons for him. Peter then silently took out as many people with guns he could. Peter used his webs sparingly since he didn't currently have a lab to make more webs and Batman's gadgets became quite helpful. Then Harvey Dent noticed his lack of people.
"Batman is here! Find him and kill him!" Harvey yelled to the guys that were left and Peter hid in the shadows.
"Man, this guy really hates Batman." Peter whispered to Karen.
"Most criminals do." Karen responded.
"Any more guns I have to take care of?" Peter asked quietly.
"One and Two-Face is holding it." Karen reported.
"Perfect, let's introduce ourselves." Peter said and jumped into action yanking Two-Face's gun away and sticking it to the ceiling. Peter then jumped away from him and took out two of his guys.
"Hello Two-Face." Peter greeted him.
"Why do you look different, Batman?" Harvey asked him in confusion.
"I just had a few spidery upgrades." Peter said, knocking out another guy.
"When did you get so witty?" Two-Face asked angrily. Peter just chuckled darkly and continued taking out Two-Face's men. Peter then knocked down Two-Face and webbed him to the ground.
"So Two-Face, was this your only plan tonight or do you have thugs robbing other banks?" Peter asked with a low growl in voice and his back legs chittering together.
"You're not Batman, why would I tell you anything?" Harvey asked aggressively.
"Tonight I am and because if you don't I'll make sure both halves of your face are gone." Peter threatened him hissing.
Peter didn't like the threat but knew from his time with Jason this was the only way to get Gotham's criminals to talk.
"I have guys hitting three more banks in Gotham." Two-Face gave in, flinching away from him.
"Thank you for your cooperation." Peter said then knocked Two-Face out.
"Who does B usually call to deal with his messes?" Peter asked as he piled together all the unconscious guys.
"Jim Gordan." Karen responded.
"Call him." Peter said finding some rope in Batman's utility belt to tie all of them up. The phone rang twice then Gordan picked up.
"I apprehended Two Face's thugs at the First National Bank of Gotham and Two-Face himself." Peter said shortly.
"It was just called in. I have people on their way." Peter smiled then hung up the phone.
"Okay, these guys are all pretty passed out. Let's get going before the cops show up." Peter said happy with his work.
"So, I'm guessing Batman is the more silent brooding type." Peter said remembering Two-Face's comment about him.
"From what I gathered, yes. The cops dislike Batman as well." Karen responded.
"That is not surprising. Who's Nigma?" Peter asked as he swung to the top of a high building.
"The Riddler. He doesn't seem to be doing anything right now." Karen said, showing him footage of Nigma pacing.
"Still the bat wants me to check on him, let's check out the other banks first then check on him." Peter said and Karen added the location of the next bank in Peter's HUD.
~~~~~~
"Master Bruce, taking the night off are we?" Alfred questioned as he saw Bruce lying in bed, only waking briefly to ask for a snack. "Dick's taking over for me." Bruce said tiredly.
"I'm sure he'll do just fine." Alfred said, handing him his midnight snack. Bruce ate silently then went back to sleep. Alfred did some nightly chores then Dick in his Nightwing costume came up from the Batcave looking worried.
"Do you know why B hasn't been out?" Dick asked worriedly.
"Master Bruce is asleep." Alfred reported.
"That's a relief, who's out as Batman then?" Dick asked and Alfred looked at him in confusion.
"I was told you were." Alfred said, getting worried.
"Huh? I am? B never said anything- where's Peter?" Dick asked, quickly putting together the pieces.
"He should be in his room." Alfred informed him.
"Yeah, hopefully." Dick said hoping it was just one of his siblings that went out for B.
They checked Peter's room and Peter was nowhere in sight.
"Oh dear." Alfred said, quickly figuring it out too.
"Where's Peter?" Dick asked again as he spotted Peter's necklace on his bedside table.
"Evidently he is not here." Alfred said with worry.
"I'll check the cave." Dick said and quickly did so. Dick's breath hitched as he saw Bruce's utility belt and cape gone.
"Oh no." Dick said and quickly went on to the Batcomputer to contact Barbara.
"Barbara, we need a location on Peter." Dick said urgently.
"His tracker says he's in the manor." Barbara told him.
"He's taken over for B, where is he?" Dick asked urgently.
"Okay, he's in Otisberg currently fighting off Bane."
"He's fighting Bane!?" Dick yelled in surprise.
"He's already apprehended Two-Face and the Riddler." Barbara reported.
"Give me his coordinates." Dick said and Barbara did so. Dick quickly jumped in the Batmobile and took off towards Peter's location. When he got there Bane was already on the ground knocked out and Peter was nowhere in sight.
"He's not here." Dick reported to Barbara.
"It looks like he's in the lower East side of Gotham Heights taking care of a robbery." Barbara responded.
"Lower East side of Gotham Heights? How is he there already?" Dick asked in surprise.
"He's fast." Barbara reported.
"Let's try and catch up." Dick said and did his best to do so.
Every time Peter was spotted in an area though Dick always came too late. Peter never held still long and took care of crimes surprisingly fast. Dick kept looking but by three am Peter was already back at the manor asleep in his web. Dick never got the opportunity to talk to him and he felt quite tired himself.
"How?" Dick asked Peter's sleeping form angrily. Peter just snored and Dick sighed. Dick went to bed promising himself he would confront Peter in the morning.
~~~~~~
Peter woke up naturally, the sun shining through his window. Peter stretched out, relaxing in the warmth of the sun. Peter opened his eyes as his stomach growled in hunger. Peter reluctantly woke himself up more to get some food.
Peter changed into an outfit Oliver bought him then got the rest of the way ready before heading downstairs. Peter listened to the sounds of the manor as he navigated his way to the kitchen. When he got to the kitchen he saw Alfred there cooking up a meal.
"Master Peter, it's good to see you're awake. Did you get injured last night on your patrol?" Alfred asked him.
"Nothing too bad, Bane did manage to break one of my back legs and it hurt badly but I fixed it all up and it's even healed already." Peter said, chittering happily to make a point.
"Very well, I'll have your breakfast ready in a moment. Master Dick is waiting for you in the dining room." Alfred told him.
"Okay." Peter said not sure why Dick was waiting on him but went to the dining room.
"So, who is Alfred?" Peter asked Karen.
"Alfed Pennyworth, butler of Bruce Wayne." Karen responded simply.
"Remind me to look up more about him later." Peter said and Karen made a noise of confirmation. When he walked in the dining room he saw Dick immediately stand up and run over to him.
"Are you okay? You didn't get hurt did you?" Dick said, looking him over for injuries.
"Hey-hey! What is wrong with you?" Peter asked, pushing him away.
"I can't believe you went out for B!" Dick yelled at him and Peter chuckled nervously.
"He needed the sleep and I thought I did pretty well filling in for Batman." Peter said nervously.
"You did defeat Two-Face, Riddler, and Bane but you could have gotten yourself killed being all alone in Gotham!" Dick yelled in worry.
"I have powers Grayson and a bulletproof suit. I'm fine." Peter said his patrol rougher than normal but he was able to manage.
"Gotham is dangerous. You aren't even properly trained." Dick argued with him.
"I took on Thanos, the Sorcerer Supreme, Vulture, Doctor Oct, Sandman, Green Goblin, Electro, Beck, half the Avengers, and knock off Electro. I also fought off Thanos' army so don't tell me I am not prepared to fight. I have been fighting crime since I was fourteen! I can handle Gotham." Peter hissed at him, chittering loudly.
"I don't know who you're referring to but I'm sorry I underestimated you." Dick said backing off.
"All pretty powerful people from my universe. Except knock off Electro. That guy was from here." Peter explained briefly.
"I'm sorry, I was just worried. B has a lot of enemies." Dick apologized sincerely.
"B does not have as many enemies as I had. Most of his enemies are just human." Peter said and Dick nodded.
"Are you protected from gas attacks?" Dick asked simply.
"Yeah, I can even breathe in space." Peter said and Dick sighed.
"I'm sorry. You are super impressive, and a very skilled fighter." Dick apologized again.
"You're forgiven." Peter forgave him.
"Have you ever fought with Eskrima sticks?" Dick asked and Peter tilted his head at him.
"No." Peter answered simply.
"Do you want to learn?" Dick asked and Peter smiled.
"It wouldn't hurt to learn a new skill." Peter said casually and Dick smiled.
"I can teach you if you're up for it?" Dick offered smugly.
"Alright, Grayson. You can teach me." Peter gave in.
"Yes!" Dick celebrated, standing up excitedly.
"After I eat though." Peter said before Dick could pull him away.
"Fair enough." Dick said, sitting back down. Alfred brought them pancakes, eggs, and sausage for breakfast and Peter thanked him genuinely before digging in.
"Just tell me if you need more to eat, Master Peter." Alfred told him.
"You don't need to call me that, Mr. Pennyworth." Peter said, flushing in embarrassment.
"And you don't need to call me that, Master Peter." Alfred said and Peter ducked his head in embarrassment.
"Thanks Mr. Pennyworth." Peter thanked him once more.
"You're welcome, Master Peter." Alfred said smugly and left the room. Peter went back to eating to ward off his embarrassment.
"You know no one actually calls him Mr. Pennyworth." Dick chuckled.
"Shut it, Grayson." Peter snapped at him and Dick laughed.
"So how did you pull off taking over for B? All the reports I got were just of a more scary Batman, saying Batman was like something Scarecrow's fear gas would induce." Dick said in confusion.
"Oh, it was actually pretty easy. I just disguised my voice as B's Batman's voice and acted all silent and broody. The utility belt was helpful but so was the Bat's reputation. It was so easy to spook people." Peter chuckled, chittering happily.
"What about the actual fighting part?" Dick asked in worry.
"It was a little tiring but I handled it. The only one who really hurt me was Bane. The worst he did was break one of my back legs and it healed already." Peter said, chittering in annoyance.
"Sorry, I just... I don't know the full extent of your abilities." Dick apologized, still looking worried.
"Okay then, let's fight. All weapons allowed and I won't even use any of Batman's weapons." Peter challenged him.
"You're on." Dick said, not daring to back down. Together they ate lunch then headed down to the Batcave to fight.
"Ready?" Peter asked as his suit enveloped him.
"Almost." Dick said taking a bit longer to get his Nightwing suit on.
"Okay ready." Dick said and Peter immediately webbed his face and threw him across the room. Dick barely managed to catch himself and started to panic as he realized he couldn't get the webbing off of his face.
"Hahaha." Peter chuckled darkly and Dick attacked him blindly. Peter easily dodged him then shot him with an impact web sticking him to a stalagmite. Dick struggled to move and Peter chuckled again.
"You believe me now?" Peter asked smugly. Dick muffled out something and Peter smiled, dissolving the webs that were covering Dick's mouth.
"You caught me off guard." Dick sighed as Peter also used his web dissolvent to get rid of the webs covering Dick's eyes.
"You shouldn't have dropped it." Peter chuckled, taking a step back from him. Dick still very stuck to the stalagmite.
"Don't you dare leave me here." Dick said starting to struggle again.
"I will release you but only if you admit that I can handle myself out in Gotham." Peter said, chittering loudly.
"Alright, fine. You can handle yourself in Gotham." Dick said and Peter released him.
"Your webs are really strong, what are they made of?" Dick asked curiously.
"That's a secret." Peter chittered happily.
"I'll find out eventually." Dick said determinedly.
"Sure you will, want to teach me how to use these?" Peter said, holding Dick's Eskrima sticks.
"How'd you- give those back!" Dick said, snatching them back.
"I'm really surprised you let down your guard so often." Peter chuckled.
"I don't! How did you manage to do that?" Dick asked in surprise.
"You're too distracted by my webs." Peter said, examining a batarang from Dick's utility belt.
"Hey-hey! How- stop that!" Dick said, taking back the batarang.
"I'm just messing with you." Peter chuckled.
"Okay! I want to fight with you but this time no weapons or webs!" Dick yelled.
"Alright, you're on, bird boy." Peter said, getting in a fighting stance. Dick attacked him with fury but didn't manage to land a single hit. Peter then started fighting back. Peter hit Dick lightly and never enough to actually knock him down.
"What are you doing?" Dick asked, still struggling to hit Peter.
"I don't want to actually hurt you." Peter said, punching Dick softly.
"How are you dodging me?" Dick asked, trying every trick he could.
"I have a spider-sense. I can dodge pretty much anything." Peter said, punching Dick softly in the shoulder.
"So you're messing with me. I could never really hit you." Dick said in anger.
"Pretty much." Peter shrugged, taking a step back from him. Dick glared at him then sighed in defeat.
"I guess you win." Dick said, holding out his arm.
"Good game." Peter took his arm then brought him over his shoulder and pinned him.
"H-how- I was- that was my idea!" Dick yelled at him in shock.
"🎵Spider sense.🎶"Peter said in a singy songy voice as he let Dick go.
"Okay, you win. You can handle yourself in Gotham." Dick sighed, standing up.
"Thank you, now about that lesson. Care to teach me?" Peter said with Dick's Eskrima sticks in his hands.
"Yeah, first lesson, stop stealing the teacher's Eskrima sticks. I'll get you your own." Dick said, taking them back.
"Okay." Peter said and followed Dick happily as he led the way to where he stored his weapons. Dick handed some training Eskrima sticks and Peter held them in his hands in curiosity.
"Second lesson, you're holding them wrong. You want to hold them like this." Dick showed him and Peter adjusted his grip on them.
"Third lesson, fight!" Dick said and Dick swung at him. Peter blocked him with his own sticks then jumped away to avoid Dick hitting him.
"This isn't a very good lesson!" Peter yelled out as he tried and failed to hit Dick with the Eskrima sticks.
"You're doing really well!" Dick yelled excitedly fighting back.
"How am I doing well?" Peter asked, still unable to hit Dick.
"You haven't hit me and I haven't hit you but you have blocked all my blows." Dick explained still fighting him.
"I don't understand any of this." Peter said then smacked Dick in the side with one of his Eskrima sticks.
"Okay, I'll teach you properly." Dick said, wincing in pain.
"Oh, sorry." Peter apologized.
"It's fine, I'm fine." Dick said and Peter sighed in relief.
Dick then did things the proper way showing Peter how to use his Eskrima sticks properly and practicing on dummies.
Chapter 15: Spider-Bat
Chapter Text
Bruce woke up well rested and bandaged up. Bruce smiled as he remembered how Dick patched him up and let him rest for the night.
Bruce then got up and got ready for the day. As he ate breakfast he read the news and was surprised when he saw the headline.
"New Spider-Bat on the prowl!" Bruce started to panic as he realized it wasn't Dick who took over for him but Peter. Bruce read the article and was surprised to find that Peter took down Two-Face, Nigma, and Bane, all in one night!
Bruce finished his breakfast then looked for the spider meta. Bruce found Peter in the batcave sparring with Dick.
"Spider meta what is this?" Bruce asked, showing him the news.
"Oh I just covered you for one night. You really needed the sleep." Peter said still fighting with Dick.
"They're calling you the Spider-Bat." Bruce said furiously.
"I know, isn't it cool!" Peter said excitedly pausing in his fight with Dick to look at him excitedly.
"No! It is not cool. I have a reputation to uphold. I can't have you masquerading as me!" Bruce yelled at him.
"Woah sorry. I didn't know you were so possessive of your role." Peter said with his hands up in surrender
"Do you know what they'll say now that you've been out?!" Bruce asked furiously.
"No? But does this mean I can keep the title?" Peter asked, looking at him in excitement.
It's not like he can take back the news that this spider meta was out there.
"Fine. But you're not going out for me again." Bruce sighed, giving up.
"Yes!!!" Peter celebrated and high-fived Dick. Bruce huffed still ticked off.
It's going to be a headache fixing what Peter has done.
Bruce watched in anger as he saw Peter talking about adding the bat-symbol to his suit and creating his own utility belt. Dick encouraged him immediately talking about suit designs and what Peter would add to his suit.
This kid, he's already inserting himself into Bruce's family and stealing all of Bruce's tech.
Bruce watched silently as Dick invited Tim down to the cave and Tim immediately got along with Peter. Tim and Dick even helped Peter add things to his suit and make new gadgets. Peter even managed to steal one of Bruce's capes in the process.
Bruce watched as Peter carefully cut his spider symbol in the cape then put it on proudly. The spider symbol perfectly overlapped with the symbol on his suit and allowed his back legs to perfectly extend through the cape. Peter then started adding a bunch of wires on the inside of the cape.
"What are you doing?" Dick asked curiously.
"I'm connecting this cape to my suit so I have complete control over this cape. I wouldn't want this accidentally snagging on one of my legs." Peter explained using his extra legs to hold wires he wasn't using right away and still working the wires into the fabric with his hands.
"The fabric isn't that thick though." Bruce pointed out in confusion.
"Yeah, I sewed two capes together." Peter said and Bruce huffed glaring at him. It bothered Bruce that Peter kept stealing his stuff. Bruce stayed silent though and watched as Peter worked. Peter worked efficiently and Bruce was having a hard time understanding what he was doing half the time. Tim did try to help but wasn't much help.
By the time Peter was done he had a cape that moved with just his thoughts and a suit that nearly mirrored Bruce's own. It was made from different materials and seemed more metallic. He had a dark blue bat going across his chest and a red utility belt holding all sorts of gadgets including one of Bruce's grappling hooks. He still had his web design on his suit and even added it to the cape. His mask was his normal Spider-Man mask but with two pointy ears on top of it.
"Peter, did you steal one of my grappling hooks?" Bruce asked him flatly.
"Yes, I also stole two capes and one of each of your gadgets but you can have these back now. I just needed to replicate them." Peter said, handing over Bruce's gadgets.
"When did you take these? I was watching you the entire time." Bruce said, bothered.
"You zone out when you're trying to figure things out." Peter said simply.
"N-no- I-I- Dick do I zone out when I try to figure something out?" Bruce asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, apparently I do it too. Peter stole my Eskrima sticks like five times." Dick chuckled.
"Tim please tell me you're at least aware-"
"Nope, Peter stole my bō staff seven times already. He claimed he was studying it to try and replicate it." Tim shrugged.
"Don't worry guys, it happens to everyone. I'm just better at stumping you guys than most people." Peter said unworriedly.
"It shouldn't be happening in the first place." Bruce said in annoyance.
"Oh please, you guys are just human. It happens to the best of us." Peter said and Bruce threw a batarang at his head. Peter caught it midair and examined it in interest.
"I have tried replicating this but in spider form but the shape of a spider doesn't really work well." Peter said, throwing it back at him and it landed just in front of his hand on the desk.
"So, you proved you're dangerous." Bruce said, picking up the batarang.
"No, I proved that you're human. I on the other hand..." Peter trailed off looking around for something. "Ah-ha!" Peter said victoriously as he picked up a microchip. "I am almost certain this belonged in one of your gadgets." Peter said, looking at Bruce's gadgets in uncertainty. Bruce facepalmed in stress.
"Don't worry I will figure it out." Peter said, stealing Bruce's gadgets again and testing them. Bruce just looked at him in disbelief.
"So, he is staying with us for the full week right?" Tim asked excitedly as Peter took apart the gadget he broke and started putting it back together.
"Yes, he's staying." Bruce said despite his better judgment.
Bruce is the one who said he wanted to take care of the spider-meta. Bruce just didn't account for how much trouble the spider would cause and so quickly after his arrival.
"Okay, tonight you are patrolling with me." Bruce told Peter and Peter looked at him in excitement.
"Really?!" Peter asked hopefully.
"Yes but you have to listen to me. You can not just go off on your own. Do you understand?" Bruce said seriously.
"Yes sir!" Peter said, doing a two finger salute.
"Peter, I am serious." Bruce said glaring at him.
"Okay, I understand. I'll listen to you." Peter said reluctantly.
"Good, now follow me upstairs. You need something to eat." Bruce said and Peter quickly retracted his suit and even the cape went around his waist like a kilt. Bruce was honestly baffled by the technology and made his way upstairs trying to process. As they sat down for dinner Peter wouldn't sit still and was still tinkering with some metal ball he made.
"Peter, no projects or weapons at the table. Put it away." Bruce said in annoyance.
"Just give me five seconds. I almost got this done." Peter said still messing with his project.
"Peter." Bruce said his name in warning.
"Okay, I'll put it away." Peter said and Bruce watched as the ball dissolved in his hand, it becoming a stream of metal that moved down his arm and reformed into a necklace around his throat.
"What is that?" Bruce asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"It's my map of the city and also doubles as my phone." Peter said, moving his hand in a certain motion and holding out his other hand. A hologram of the map of the city showed up in front of him.
"Don't you have a real phone?" Bruce asked.
"Yes, Oliver gave me one from his company. It's not very advanced though." Peter said, swiping his hand down and the map disappeared. Peter took back his other hand then got out the phone Oliver gave him.
"You know I could get you one that's much more advanced. Wayne Tech is one of my companies." Bruce said proudly.
"Nah, I already made this one and I am already planning on building a better one. This one is really just a prototype." Peter said, double tapping his necklace and the metal moved again snaking around his arm.
"Speaking of your company or should I say companies. I want to check them out. Care to give me a tour?" Peter asked as a hologram of Wayne Tower, Wayne Industries, Wayne Tech, and Wayne Labs appeared in his hand.
"Sure." Bruce said, still trying to wrap his head around Peter's tech.
"Cool! Anyway, what's for dinner?" Peter asked, twisting his hand down towards the table and the metal moved again back into a necklace.
"Steak, mashed potatoes, and corn, Master Peter." Alfred said, presenting the food to him.
"Thank you, Mr. Pennyworth." Peter said politely.
"My pleasure, Master Peter." Alfred said and Peter squinted his eyes at him. Alfred smirked and Peter sighed before digging in as Alfred left the room.
"So if you are from a different universe, does that mean you are from a different time as well or did you just have really advanced technology in your universe?" Tim asked curiously.
"It was like 2024 back in my universe. What year is it now?" Peter asked curiously.
"It's only 2010. No wonder your technology is so advanced." Dick said in surprise.
"Wow, I didn't know I went through time as well, that does explain some things." Peter said going back to eating. Damian was watching Peter the whole time just taking in his every word and movement. Bruce watched Peter the same way but less in awe and more in skepticism. Bruce reluctantly ate his food as he knew he needed to eat before patrol.
When they finished dinner Bruce brought Peter down into the cave and they got ready to go out on patrol. Bruce did manage to find all his gadgets and his utility belt but had to wear one of his old capes since Peter stole his other capes.
Bruce saw Peter fully dressed in his Spider-Bat suit and paused. Peter's suit was all too similar to his own. It was like looking in a funhouse mirror. It felt wrong. It was giving him the feeling of the uncanny valley. Too much like him but just different enough to be called his own.
"Are you ready?" Bruce's Batman voice came from Peter's suit and Bruce looked at him startled.
"What?" Bruce asked in shock.
"Oh, I can mimic any voice perfectly. I just need to hear them speak once. Like I have Captain America, Doctor Strange, Superman, Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, Bane, Richard Grayson, Tim-" Peter started listing names, his voice changing each time as he did.
"Stop please stop- just sound like you." Bruce pleaded sort of freaked out.
"Okay?" Peter said in Tim's voice then a hologram appeared in front of him and he started messing with some setting.
"How's this?" Peter made it so it sounded like it was his own voice but deeper and distorted.
"Better." Bruce said and went on the Batcomputer to open up his case files on the Penguin.
"Who's that?" Peter asked, looking at the screen curiously.
"A crime boss. I've been collecting evidence of his dealings for a while now. I need enough evidence to make sure he stays in jail." Bruce said and Peter tilted his head at him.
"Okay." Peter said and jumped on to the ceiling and started crawling towards the cave exit.
"Where do you think you're going?" Bruce asked sternly.
"Going to get evidence to put this Penguin in jail." Peter said, hanging from the ceiling.
"No, you're coming with me in the Batmobile and we will be doing this my way." Bruce said and Peter squinted his eyes at him but made his way to the Batmobile. Bruce huffed and made sure he had a location on Penguin before heading out with Peter.
Peter was surprisingly patient. He never attacked before Bruce said so and never knocked anyone out before making sure they didn't have information about the Penguin.
"Say you'll testify in court." Bruce was threatening one of the criminals when Peter looked at him in surprise.
"Testify why would he do that? I could just give over the footage of him confessing to the court." Peter said and Bruce paused.
"Footage?" Bruce questioned him.
"Yeah my mask records everything." Peter said and Bruce looked at him impressed.
"Everything?" Bruce questioned wondering how he was storing all that data.
"Oh I got this connected to the satellites. I deleted all of Twitter and the Black Market. Hope you didn't need those." Peter said casually.
"Peter, what did you do?" Bruce asked furiously, knocking the criminal out.
"I just told you. I don't think this is a big deal." Peter shrugged.
"Why can you do that?" Bruce asked in annoyance.
"Why not?" Peter asked and Bruce groaned in stress.
"You can't just delete the Black Market and Twitter!" Bruce yelled at him.
"Well, too bad, they're gone now." Peter huffed, chittering angrily.
"That's physically impossible." Bruce said glaring at him.
"Nope it was actually pretty easy." Peter shrugged.
"Peter, why must you create chaos every time you speak?" Bruce asked, looking at him in disbelief.
"I don't mean to make your life harder." Peter said bowing his head guiltily.
"Really, because all of your actions so far have said differently." Bruce spat at him.
"I-I-I'm sorry." Peter stuttered backing away from him.
"I have already had to re-establish my reputation to clean up when you posed as me. Now I have to handle the PR disaster that you no doubt caused by deleting Twitter and the Black Market." Bruce said ticked off.
"I... I'm sorry. I was just trying to... I'll handle it." Peter said and Bruce glared at him.
"What?" Bruce asked furiously.
"I messed up. I'll clean it up. You don't need to worry about the press or the news. I will handle it." Peter said seriously.
"Do you even know how?" Bruce asked in doubt. Peter looked away from him in shame.
"I can figure it out." Peter said thinking upon it. Bruce sighed and knew Peter couldn't handle this by himself.
It was commendable that Peter was willing to fix this by himself though. Peter took responsibility for his actions and was willing to face the consequences.
"I'll help you." Bruce said knowing Peter was doing all these things because he didn't understand how this universe worked yet.
"You don't have to-"
"I know. I'm helping because you don't understand how things work in this universe. I'm going to help you because I believe you're good." Bruce explained and Peter smiled.
"Thank you for believing in me." Peter said sincerely.
"You make a mistake this big again though and I will make sure Barry leaves you in the Pipeline." Bruce threatened him.
"I understand." Peter said bowing to him. Bruce looked at him and his heart melted a bit.
Peter really had no idea how this universe worked and was trying his best to do so. Peter didn't want to hurt anyone. He was just a lost little kid finding himself in a strange new universe. He was hurt and Bruce wanted to protect him.
"Get up. We can deal with it after we take down the Penguin." Bruce said and Peter stood tall. Bruce saw how Peter copied parts of Bruce's own suit. Peter's batman symbol looked exactly like his own. He copied his utility belt down to a T. He wore the cape even though it wasn't necessary. He even added little bat ears to his suit and unnecessary little hooks on his forearms.
Peter just wanted to look like him, be like him. Peter looked up to him.
Bruce smiled and felt an ounce of guilt for threatening to throw Peter back into the Pipeline.
"I'm ready when you are." Peter said readily.
"Let's go." Bruce said and Peter followed him obediently.
Chapter 16: Damian Wayne
Chapter Text
Peter was slightly irked. Bruce's way of fighting crime was slow and Peter thought about going against Bruce's orders more than once. Peter said he would listen to Bruce though and do things his way.
Peter analyzed Bruce as they patrolled together and it wasn't hard to find out that Bruce was a control freak. Bruce never liked when Peter would suggest doing things a different way. Bruce got mad at him for deleting Twitter and the Black Market. Bruce had a process when interrogating criminals and often let the big bads escape.
Bruce let Penguin escape twice already and Peter was properly pissed now because Bruce told him to stay back and deal with the goons. They had enough evidence against Penguin. Why would Bruce let him get away again?
Peter chittered as Bruce located Penguin again and Bruce told him to help him fight off the goons. Peter swung in and webbed up Penguin to the ceiling before attacking the rest of the goons and taking them out quickly. Bruce barely managed to join him before Peter had everyone knocked out and Penguin hanging in a web stuck to the ceiling.
"What was that?" Bruce asked furiously.
"Me catching your bad guy. You said help take care of the goons I did that. I also trapped your bad guy. We have enough evidence to put him into prison for a lifetime. So a "thank you" would be nice." Peter chittered angrily. Bruce looked at him but said nothing. Bruce looked around at all the unconscious guys then Penguin trapped in Peter's webs. Peter waited patiently for a response.
"Okay, show me how you deal with crime then." Bruce said, looking at him.
"Gladly, Karen call commissioner Gordan and tell him where to pick up Penguin." Peter said wrapping up all the goons and making sure Penguin was thoroughly stuck.
"Keep up." Peter said to Bruce then jumped out the window. Peter didn't wait for Bruce as he swung into the air and checked for any other big bads on the streets.
Peter quickly found out Scarecrow was on the loose and swung to his location. It took him a matter of minutes to get there and when he did arrive it didn't take long to assess the situation and take out a few of Scarecrow's men out silently and the others not so silently.
Peter swung down behind Scarecrow and smiled as Scarecrow tried to spray him with his fear gas.
"Nice try." Peter said then easily webbed him up before he could escape. Peter easily got a confession out of Scarecrow and his plans to gas the whole city. Peter then jumped out of the way and took Scarecrow with him as he felt someone try to shoot him.
"B, what are you doing?" Peter asked, looking over at him as he held one of the goons' guns.
"I wanted to see if I could shoot you." Bruce said and Peter sighed.
"My suit is bulletproof. Also ow." Peter explained as Bruce shot him in the chest. Peter chittered in anger, staring him down and Bruce dropped the gun.
"So, now you have Scarecrow." Bruce said, looking at Scarecrow who was trapped in a web.
"Yup, and I got a confession out of him." Peter said and Bruce sighed.
"Fine, you clearly can fight crime on your own. I'm going to find Robin." Bruce left and Peter chuckled.
"I guess he finally trusts me." Peter said gazing at Scarecrow.
"Please don't eat me." Scarecrow pleaded and Peter laughed.
"I won't... for now. I will get you arrested though." Peter said and made sure Scarecrow was fully disarmed then picked up by the police. Peter stopped a few more smaller crimes then headed to bed before three am.
The next morning Peter woke up with Damian knocking on his door.
"Come in." Peter said, yawning awake.
"Good Morning Peter. Today it is my turn to hang out with you and teach you how to use a sword properly." Damian greeted him. Peter blinked, still processing his words.
"Good morning." Peter said, stretching out his limbs.
"Tt. You will meet me downstairs for breakfast in exactly twenty minutes. Then we will go down to the cave so I can teach you swordsmanship." Damian said then left before Peter could respond.
"Okay." Peter said then got ready for the day then made sure to grab the sword that was gifted to him and headed down for breakfast.
Alfred served him breakfast and Damian sat across from him eating breakfast with him. Peter then saw Damian's dog sitting on the floor by Damian's feet.
"Cute dog, what's it's name?" Peter asked curiously.
"His name is Ace." Damian informed him. Peter held his out for Ace to sniff and Ace sniffed him curiously. Ace let Peter pet him and Damian looked at him in approval.
"After I teach you how to use a sword properly I will properly introduce you to all my pets." Damian said, looking pleased.
"Okay." Peter said happily, interested in meeting all of Damian's pets.
Peter soon got done eating and Damian brought him down in the cave to start his lessons.
Damian was a very strict teacher. Damian was never patient and quick to anger. Peter even had to avoid Damian when he tried to attack him for messing up.
"Stop trying to hit me!" Peter said, avoiding another blow from Damian.
"Then stop messing up!" Damian yelled. Peter webbed himself to the ceiling then quickly started swinging as Damian started throwing sharp objects at him.
"Ow!" Peter fell from his web and barely caught himself as Damian nicked him with a batarang.
"Now do better. Tt." Damian said and Peter looked at him in horror.
"Damian, what's going on in here?" Bruce asked and Peter immediately spotted him.
"Save me." Peter hid behind Bruce using him as a shield.
"Damian." Bruce said in disapproval, crossing his arms.
"What? I was just teaching him how to use a sword properly. Tt." Damian huffed, still glaring at Peter. Peter hid behind Bruce more, clinging to Bruce's back.
"Yeah, why then do I have a spider on my back?" Bruce asked, glancing back at Peter. Peter didn't let go and just ducked his head below Bruce's shoulder.
"I may have attacked him." Damian admitted guiltily.
"Are you going to apologize?" Bruce asked, glaring at his son.
"Tt. No." Damian said and Bruce sighed.
"We will talk this over later. Peter, are you hurt?" Bruce asked, trying to glance back at him.
"Maybe." Peter said and Bruce sighed, turning around and heading up the stairs. Peter still clung to his back, his eyes trained on Damian. Damian glared at him and Peter stuck his tongue out at him. Damian threw another batarang and Peter quickly crawled onto Bruce's chest.
The batarang hit Bruce in the back and Bruce winced but other than that didn't react.
"Are you okay?" Peter asked, looking at him worriedly.
"I'll be fine." Bruce said, looking down at him briefly before continuing on to the upstairs living room. Peter crawled to Bruce's side and winced when he saw that Bruce was bleeding.
"Peter, can you get on the couch?" Bruce asked, looking down on him.
"Oh-uh-yeah." Peter said and separated himself from Bruce's chest and got on the couch.
"Hold still." Bruce said, looking him over for injuries.
"What about the batarang in your back?" Peter asked worriedly as Bruce put his hand under Peter's chin and gently moved his head around to look for injuries.
"I'm fine." Bruce said and Peter winced as Bruce brushed his thumb over a small cut behind his ear.
"Take your shirt off." Bruce demanded and Peter shamefully did so.
"You're bleeding." Peter told Bruce still worried about the man.
"I'll be fine. You're bleeding." Bruce said motioning to the cut in his arm.
"Damian got in a few lucky hits." Peter said, shivering.
"He was trained to be an assassin. I'm surprised you're not more hurt than you are." Bruce said getting out a first aid kit from somewhere.
"I have a spider sense, it warns me of danger." Peter explained as Bruce cleaned Peter's wound.
"That's helpful. Are your legs injured?" Bruce asked and Peter looked away from him.
"Show me, now." Bruce demanded once he was done with Peter's arm. Peter reluctantly rolled up his pant leg and showed off a gash near his ankle.
"Do you need pain medication?" Bruce asked as he started cleaning his wound and Peter flinched.
"Normal pain meds don't work on me. It doesn't even hurt that bad.” Peter said casually then Bruce placed a hand on Peter's thigh and Peter winced, closing his eyes in pain.
"Peter, don't hide injuries from me." Bruce said seriously and Peter hesitantly shucked off his pants showing another deep cut on his thigh.
"I'm sorry Damian hurt you this much." Bruce apologized, examining his cut closely.
"Eh- I'm not hurt too bad." Peter said nervously.
"You need stitches." Bruce said and Peter bowed his head in shame.
"Peter, what's wrong?" Bruce asked, looking him in the eyes.
"I... I should have been faster. I shouldn't have gotten so hurt." Peter said shamefully, looking away from him.
"Peter, this wasn't your fault. Damian grew up training to kill people. He doesn't understand how to teach someone peacefully. You can't blame yourself and compare yourself to him." Bruce said gently caressing his face to make him look him in the eyes. Peter looked him in the eyes and saw nothing but care.
"I... okay." Peter said slightly embarrassed and let Bruce tend to his wounds. Bruce was gentle with him and patched him up with practiced ease.
"Now that you've taken care of me. Let me take care of you." Peter said seriously once he was all patched up and dressed again. Bruce sighed but turned around letting Peter see his wound. Peter took the batarang out then Bruce took off his shirt.
Peter frowned as he saw Bruce's scars and injuries. Bruce's back was scattered with scars just like his own and Bruce still had bruises and barely tended to cuts from last night's patrol. Peter first took care of the big cut caused by the batarang then started taking care of Bruce's other wounds.
"What are you doing?" Bruce asked, making a small noise of discomfort as Peter cleaned a cut on Bruce's side.
"You patched me up, I'm returning the favor." Peter said and Bruce looked at him in suspicion but didn't move to stop him. Peter patched up Bruce's wounds and Bruce would flinch and twitch in pain but never winced or made a sound of pain.
"There, anything else major?" Peter asked, looking at Bruce's legs.
"No." Bruce said simply and put his shirt back on.
"Thanks for patching me up." Peter made sure to thank him. Bruce just nodded.
"I guess I should thank you for doing the same. Thank you." Bruce said, looking away from him.
"No problem." Peter said happily.
"Tell no one." Bruce said then left the room.
"Okay." Peter said then jumped up onto the ceiling as his spider sense went off. Damian walked in the room and Peter froze, ready to fight if need be.
"Tt. I am not here to hurt you, Spider. I want to introduce you to my pets." Damian said and Peter slowly lowered himself from the ceiling.
"Okay." Peter said not trusting him at all but following him at a distance. Damian actually started introducing his animals and Peter relaxed slightly.
"This is Batcow." Damian introduced Peter to their cow first.
"Wow she actually has a bat symbol on her face. That's so cute." Peter said, amazed. Damian nodded as Peter pet Batcow gently.
"Then somewhere around here is Alfred." Damian said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"Why would Alfred be out here? Is he gardening? Does he take care of Batcow?" Peter asked in confusion.
"No, this is Alfred." Damian picked up a black and white cat and Peter looked at Alfred in shock.
"You named your cat after your butler." Peter said in surprise.
"They do share similar personalities." Damian said and Peter tried petting Alfred the cat. Alfred just hissed at him and Peter took his hand back quickly.
"Right, what will we be doing now?" Peter asked as he pet Batcow again.
"I have to feed my animals. Then we can train some more." Damian said and Peter looked at him in dread.
"Uh-how about I just wait inside." Peter said and quickly left before Damian could stop him. Peter got in the manor again and explored a bit on his own.
Even though he was taken on a tour it was still a little difficult to navigate properly. There were so many different rooms and even secret rooms to explore. The ceilings were high enough that Peter could walk comfortably around the ceiling and even swing around some places.
"Peter!" Bruce stopped his exploration and Peter looked down at him in confusion.
"Get down from there. We have a gala tonight and I need to take you shopping." Bruce said and Peter landed in front of him in surprise.
"Shopping? For what?" Peter asked in confusion.
"A nice suit and something to fix this." Bruce said, briefly running a hand through Peter's hair. Peter swatted his hand away in offense.
"My hair is fine. Also why do I need a suit?" Peter asked, frowning.
"Because this is a Wayne gala, now let's go." Bruce said and Peter reluctantly followed him. They got in a limo together and Peter tapped his foot anxiously.
"So, exactly how famous are you?" Peter asked nervously, not wanting to deal with the press.
"Very." Bruce said and Peter sighed.
"Right." Peter said quietly.
"You don't like the press?" Bruce guessed.
"Yeah, they sort of ruined my whole life in my universe." Peter said uncomfortably.
"That won't happen here." Bruce reassured him.
"I sure hope not." Peter said and went silent as he looked out the window.
"What did happen in your universe?" Bruce asked and Peter scoffed.
"A lot of bad things. Like so many bad things and you know what the worst part is? No one even remembers who I am." Peter said sadly as remembered what Doctor Strange did.
Ned and MJ don't even remember him. His Aunt May is dead. He didn't even get to go to her funeral.
Peter did his best not to cry in front of Bruce as he stared at the window in grief.
"I'm sorry." Bruce said and Peter wiped away his tears.
"I'm not even there anymore. I can't-" Peter cut himself off crying silently in grief as he realized he would never see his friends ever again. He lost everyone. Peter went silent as he grieved and tried not to cry too hard.
"If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you." Bruce said and Peter didn't speak.
He couldn't, it hurt too much. He missed his friends, his aunt, his universe.
They got to the store and Peter took a deep breath.
"Are you ready?" Bruce asked and Peter nodded following him out of the car. Bruce kept him close to him at all times and didn't answer any questions about Peter to anyone. Peter was silent the whole time trying his best not to cry out in public. Bruce had Peter try on a number of different suits and ties.
Apparently dressing right for the gala was important. Bruce also had him pick out some jewelry to look more extravagant. Whatever that meant.
Peter hated when random people tried talking to him and Bruce. Bruce got them to leave Peter alone though and their shopping trip wasn't as bad as Peter thought it would be.
Why Bruce insisted he attend, Peter didn't know but Bruce is famous and rich. It was probably some rich person thing he didn't understand.
When they got back to the manor Bruce took him to his room and helped him choose what to wear. They settled on a red suit with a blue tie. He had a nice gold watch on and a diamond studded pin with his initials. P.W.
"Why add the W? I'm not even a Wayne." Peter said uncomfortably as Bruce helped him with his hair.
"Because you don't have a last name and in this universe everyone has a first and last name. So for tonight you are Peter Wayne." Bruce said and Peter frowned as he looked himself in the mirror.
"Do I have to have a last name?" Peter asked as Bruce finished with his hair then put on Peter's silver bat necklace.
"Yes, you do. Now when they ask who you are you say..."
"Peter Wayne." Peter said, the last name feeling strange on his tongue.
"You'll get there. Tonight you can either stay by my side or find one of your siblings and stay with them." Bruce said and Peter frowned.
"They aren't my siblings." Peter said, frowning.
"Tonight they are. You look very handsome. Now let's go make sure the preparations are ready." Bruce said and Peter reluctantly followed him downstairs.
Chapter 17: Just Peter
Chapter Text
Oliver went to the Wayne Gala not only because he always goes to Bruce's Galas but also because he wanted to check up on Peter.
Peter already told him how much he hated the press and parties. Oliver invited him to one of his own galas but Peter said he'd rather not so Oliver didn't make him go.
So when Oliver arrived at the gala he didn't expect to find Peter so easily. Peter though was standing next to Bruce uncomfortably and shaking just slightly. Bruce said something to Peter and Peter put on a fake smile looking at the people they were talking to awkwardly.
Oliver frowned and marched over to them in rage. Oliver put on his fakest smile ever as he cleared his throat, interrupting their conversation.
"Excuse me but I would like to talk to my friend now." Oliver said and the people looked at him and his deranged smile and immediately left.
"Oliver, you're here." Peter immediately hugged him, his breaths coming out fast. Oliver immediately hugged him back feeling more enraged as he felt Peter start to cry.
"I'm here." Oliver comforted him then noticed Peter's suit didn't have holes for Peter's back legs and knew immediately that he must be in a lot of pain.
"Bruce, I'm taking him back." Oliver said glaring at his childhood friend.
"You can't do that. He still has four days here." Bruce said and Oliver huffed. Peter still clung onto him just hiding his face into Oliver's chest, still shaking.
"This is abuse. You shouldn't be forcing him to go to a gala when he doesn't want to. You shouldn't make him wear a suit that makes him uncomfortable. Now I am taking him before he has a panic attack." Oliver said intending to walk away and bring Peter with him.
"Peter stay." Bruce said and Peter froze.
"Come here." Bruce ordered and Peter reluctantly returned to Bruce's side.
"Who are you tonight?" Bruce asked.
"Peter Wayne." Peter said, looking despondent.
"Good boy." Bruce said with a hand on Peter's shoulder. Peter flinched and Oliver was furious. Oliver stomped up to him and punched Bruce in the face. Bruce took it wincing in pain.
"He is not a Wayne! He is not your kid and he definitely isn't staying here! Come on Peter, let's get out of here." Oliver said, offering a hand. Peter looked between Bruce and Oliver then took a step back from Bruce and took Oliver's hand.
Oliver led him out, threatening anyone who dared try to stop him and made sure Peter got to the car without being too overwhelmed by the press. They got to the car and Peter started to shake really badly as the door closed.
"Take us back home." Oliver said to Diggle then looked at Peter. Peter was breathing fast and was panicking.
"Breathe with me Peter. You have to breathe." Oliver said offering a hand and Peter took it and held onto Oliver tightly.
"Let's get that jacket off of you and make it so you can chitter again." Oliver said and Peter nodded immediately taking his suit jacket off. Oliver helped him and frowned when he saw the initials P.W on a pin. Oliver felt even more angry as he saw Peter wearing a bat necklace. Oliver helped him take off his necklace and tie then Peter's back legs began to chitter again as Peter ripped off his shirt as well.
"I hated that. I don't want to be a Wayne." Peter said, burying his face into Oliver's chest.
"You're safe now. There's no people around. You're just Peter." Oliver reassured him as Peter sobbed into his chest.
"I got you, you don't have to be a Wayne. Just breathe with me. Breathe." Oliver instructed him gently and Peter did his best to match his breaths to Oliver's.
"In... out... you're safe. You can chitter again. No one can see you." Oliver comforted him. Once Peter could breathe again Oliver took off his own jacket and got out his pocket knife. Oliver cut the back off his jacket then offered it to Peter. Peter put it on then buried his face back into Oliver's chest.
"Thank you." Peter thanked him as Oliver just held him gently until Peter stopped shaking.
"No problem." Oliver said making sure Peter had tissues and Oliver grabbed him a bottled water. Peter shakily took the water and covered himself more with Oliver's jacket after he blew his nose.
"Do you want to talk about what happened or do you just want to go get some ice cream and we can watch a movie?" Oliver gave him a choice.
"Ice cream and movie." Peter said and Oliver smiled.
"Okay, if you want anything else you can just ask." Oliver said sincerely.
"Can I have another hug?" Peter asked tearfully.
"Of course." Oliver said and let Peter embrace him. Oliver hugged him back carefully making sure not to touch his back legs. Peter didn't let him go and Oliver let him cling to him like a child.
Peter's breaths eventually slowed and Peter relaxed. Oliver saw the silver bat necklace on the seat and grabbed it furiously. Oliver lowered his window and chucked the necklace out. Oliver also chucked out the affronting suit jacket and tie. Peter watched him silently and curled into Oliver's side, chittering quietly in content. Peter closed his eyes and Oliver smiled as Peter snuggled into his side. Oliver then frowned as he noticed a bandage right behind Peter's ear.
Did Peter get hurt out on patrol? Did Bruce not protect him? Peter never got hurt when he patrolled with Oliver. Oliver noticed more bandages on Peter's arm and felt furious.
Did Bruce hurt Peter? Oliver knew Peter healed fast and for Peter to still have bandages on something must have happened just a few hours earlier or something really bad must have happened. What happened?
Oliver was going to punch Bruce again. Peter never deserved to be so hurt and scared. Bruce made Peter have a panic attack. Didn't he know Peter didn't like the press and parties? Peter would have told Bruce that right?
Peter looked so uncomfortable, unhappy. Oliver knew Bruce was good at reading people. Bruce knew Peter was uncomfortable and made him go to the gala anyway. Oliver wanted to kill Bruce.
Oliver noticed Peter fell asleep and smiled.
"Hey, Dig, can you stop by the store and get us some icecream?" Oliver asked as he noticed they were out of Gotham now and closer to Baltimore.
"I assume we're going to your remote hideout." Diggle said and Oliver nodded.
"Yeah, and get a bunch of flavors. We need options." Oliver said and Diggle made a sound of confirmation.
Diggle made a quick stop at the store then they were back on the road to Oliver's remote hideout. Peter slept the rest of the car ride.
They arrived at the house Oliver bought in Baltimore. It was smaller than his mansion but remote and a good vacation home/secret hideout.
"We're here Peter. It's time to wake up." Oliver gently woke him and Peter clung onto him.
"Do you want me to carry you?" Oliver asked, amused. Peter nodded and Oliver sighed fondly.
"Okay, kid. Let's head inside." Oliver said and made sure Peter had a good grip on him before exiting the car and heading inside.
"What kind of ice cream do you want?" Oliver asked as Peter woke up more and climbed up onto Oliver's shoulders.
"We have: chocolate, chocolate chip, cookie dough, vanilla, strawberry, triple chocolate brownie, mint- Diggle why did you get mint?! He can't have mint!" Oliver yelled out in alarm.
"You said we needed options!" Diggle yelled back, setting up the t.v in the other room. Oliver shook his head and placed the mint to the side.
"So what are you thinking?" Oliver asked as Peter looked over his options.
"Can I have more than one flavor?" Peter asked, still resting on Oliver's shoulders.
"Of course, you can have whatever you like." Oliver said and Peter got off of Oliver, webbing himself up to the ceiling to look through the cabinets. Peter got them bowls while Oliver got out a scooper. Oliver scooped them some ice cream and Peter returned to the floor.
"Why don't you head to the living room and pick out a movie for us." Oliver said as he started putting away the ice cream.
"Okay." Peter said going to the living room. Oliver quickly put up the ice cream then joined Peter in the living room.
"Have you found a movie you liked?" Oliver asked as he sat down on the couch. Peter nodded excitedly and showed him the disk.
"Okay, let's put this puppy in and watch "Uncharted"." Oliver said having never seen the movie before but putting it in the dvd player and starting it up.
Peter and Oliver sat together on the couch while Diggle sat in a chair separate from the couch. Peter leaned into Oliver's side as he ate his ice cream and watched the movie. Oliver didn't mind and made sure Peter was comfortable.
As Oliver watched the movie he noticed the main character looked a little bit like Peter and saw how Peter liked the movie. They finished their ice cream and Oliver put their bowls on the coffee table then when he sat back down Peter curled into his side leaning on him comfortably. Oliver smiled and put an arm around Peter protectively.
The movie came to an end and Oliver smiled as he saw Peter asleep and still cuddling into his side. Oliver picked him up and brought him to bed, careful to not wake Peter up. Oliver tucked him in and kissed his forehead.
"Goodnight Peter." Oliver whispered and went back to the living room to clean up.
"Do you think the kid will be alright?" Diggle asked, helping out.
"I don't know. I hope he will be. I'm going back to Gotham to have a discussion with the bat." Oliver said, grabbing his bow and arrows.
"I'll make sure no one takes Peter." Diggle said and Oliver nodded him then got in his helicopter and flew back to Gotham.
It didn't take long to find Batman and Oliver put his helicopter on autopilot as he spotted him.
"Batman! We need to talk!" Oliver yelled as he lowered the ladder and landed on the rooftop Bruce was on.
"What do you want, Green Arrow?" Bruce asked him and Oliver punched him hard across the jaw.
"You made him have a panic attack! You knew he didn't want to be at that gala but you made him go! And the worst thing, you hurt him. I saw the bandages. You monster!" Oliver attacked him and Bruce narrowly avoided his attacks.
"I didn't hurt him. Damian was just training him and got a little carried away." Bruce said and Oliver scoffed.
"You're going to blame this on your ten year old!? You make me sick." Oliver said and shot Bruce in the shoulder. Bruce ripped the arrow out.
"That's the truth." Bruce said and Oliver didn't believe him.
"Go to hell bats. Consider this my resignation from the Justice League." Oliver shot him again then went back on his helicopter and left Gotham for good.
Chapter 18: Moving On
Chapter Text
Peter woke up in a comfortable bed and blinked open his eyes in confusion. Memories from last night filled his head and he smiled as he remembered how Oliver took care of him.
Oliver took him away from the manor, the gala, Bruce. Peter really didn't like the gala. Everything about it made his skin crawl. The people were unpleasant and fake. His suit was too tight and Bruce insisted that he kept his back legs hidden so as to not connect himself to Spider-Bat. Bruce also told him to follow his orders precisely and act like an idiot so people didn't know how smart he was. Bruce even tried to tell him to leave his suit in his room. Peter refused adamantly and only agreed to take off the cape part.
Peter asked many times not to go. Bruce said he had to have an identity outside the cape though and make a name for himself. Peter was swamped by the press and Peter hated the attention. He hated pretending to be okay when he was trying his best not to have a panic attack because of the memories of what happened in his own universe.
Peter wanted to just leave so badly and when he saw Oliver he couldn't take it anymore. He hugged Oliver and never wanted to let go. He broke down and clung to Oliver like a life line. Oliver made sure he was safe. Oliver let him chitter. Oliver took him away from the press. Oliver helped him calm down and didn't even ask for him to explain.
Peter smelled pancakes and got up curiously.
Was Oliver making him breakfast?
Peter looked in the drawers and found some of Oliver's clothes. Peter observed the cut up suit he had on and his dress pants from the gala and knew he wanted out of these clothes. Peter looked through Oliver's clothes and found a tank top that was too big on him that he could fit his back legs through. Peter also found a pair of jeans that were a little big on him but Peter just used his belt from the pants he wore at the gala. Peter made sure he had his suit on his belt and made his way to the kitchen and was surprised to find Diggle making breakfast and Oliver sitting at the counter and watching Diggle cook.
"Good morning Peter, did you borrow my clothes?" Oliver asked him and Peter blushed chittering in embarrassment.
"Uh-I- I didn't want to wear the clothes I had at the gala and I needed a shirt." Peter stuttered out in embarrassment.
"It's fine, come join us for breakfast." Oliver said invited him motioning for him to take a seat. Peter hesitated and Oliver looked at him.
"Do we need to talk right now or after breakfast?" Oliver asked and Peter put his head down in guilt.
"I think... we should talk now." Peter said and Oliver nodded.
"Okay, where do you want to do this?" Oliver asked, standing up.
"Can we sit on the couch?" Peter asked and Oliver nodded. Oliver let Peter take the lead and Peter sat down first. Oliver sat a respectable distance from him. Peter pulled his knees up to his chest and chittered quietly.
"Let's start from the beginning." Oliver said and Peter sighed.
"Okay, I want to start from the real beginning then." Peter said and Oliver looked at him in confusion.
"When Superman took me away from you." Peter said and Oliver nodded.
"Okay, what happened with Superman?" Oliver asked sounding curious but concerned.
"Superman got annoyed at me for chittering and I destroyed his guest room in rage." Peter admitted and Oliver looked at him in surprise.
"Did anyone get hurt?" Oliver asked.
"No, but Conner talked me into sneaking away to Mount Justice and that's when I first met B." Peter said chittering uncomfortably.
"What was your first impression?" Oliver asked and Peter whimpered.
"He was nice." Peter shrugged.
"Then what happened?" Oliver asked curiously.
"Superman found us and took me back to his farm. We got in another argument. Superman was a jerk." Peter said chittering in anger.
"A jerk? What did he do?" Oliver asked in confusion.
"He... he made me take down my web. He was always angry at me. He took his anger out on me because he was mad at Conner." Peter explained bitterly.
"Did he hurt you?" Oliver asked sounding angry.
"He restrained me when I was raging but other than that no." Peter said still pissed.
"Okay, and after that?" Oliver asked.
"When Bruce picked me up everything was fine at first. Bruce and his family were welcoming." Peter said shifting uncomfortably.
"When did it start going wrong?" Oliver asked him.
"I guess it started when I went out as Spider-Bat for Batman when he was injured." Peter said guiltily.
"Did he get mad at you?" Oliver asked worriedly.
"Briefly, I think that's what started it. Then we went on patrol and he got mad that I deleted Twitter and the Black Market." Peter admitted shamefully.
"You did that! I thought that was just some massive server error. The news said it was some blackout or virus or something." Oliver said in surprise.
"Yeah, that was me." Peter chuckled nervously.
"How and why?" Oliver asked curiously.
"Hacked into the satellites and I needed some room for my private server." Peter explained hoping Oliver wouldn't get mad.
"Nice, why Twitter though?" Oliver asked and Peter shifted nervously.
"It's terrible in the future." Peter said and Oliver looked at him in surprise and confusion.
"The future?" Oliver asked.
"Yeah, turns out I am from the future and another universe. In my universe it was 2026." Peter answered hoping Oliver wouldn't mind.
"That makes sense. What did Bruce do when he found out?" Oliver asked and Peter frowned.
"He yelled at me and threatened to throw me back in the Pipeline." Peter said sadly.
"I would never let that happen to you Peter and I'm sure Barry wouldn't either." Oliver said confidently.
"Still, then yesterday Damian "trained" me in swordsmanship and got a lucky few hits in." Peter said showing off his bandages.
"Oh, so that was true." Oliver said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"What?" Peter asked.
"Nothing, continue." Oliver said and Peter sighed but nodded.
"That's when everything went downhill. Bruce wrapped up my wounds but after that he... he said... he insisted I go shopping with him so I could attend the gala." Peter started to shake and chitter in discomfort.
"Did you tell him you didn't want to go?" Oliver asked and Peter nodded.
"I- many times. I told him I didn't like the press. He insisted I go though. He said I needed an identity. Made me call myself Peter Wayne. Taught me how to lie to rich people and insisted I keep my back legs hidden to keep my identities seperate." Peter said trying not to cry as his breath picked up.
"You're not there anymore. You're okay now. You're not there." Oliver comforted him and Peter took shaky breaths doing his best to calm down.
"Breathe with me." Oliver said offering his hand. Peter took it then buried his face into Oliver's chest. Peter took a moment to match his breaths to Oliver's.
"Do you want to have some breakfast now?" Oliver asked as Peter's breaths slowed. Peter nodded and led him back into the kitchen. Diggle had a massive amount of pancakes waiting for him.
"I didn't know how much you eat exactly so I made this much. I can make more if you finish these." Diggle offered.
"Thanks Diggle." Peter thanked him sincerely.
"No problem kid. I also cleaned the blueberries and sliced up some strawberries if you want." Diggle said and Peter smiled.
"Thank you!" Peter said and got a plate and stacked it high with pancakes and fruit. Peter sat down at the counter and started eating and Oliver sat beside him eating his own pancakes.
"So now that you are officially done living with Superman and Batman and me. What would you like to do?" Oliver asked as they ate.
Peter knew he wasn't going to stay with Superman or Batman. Oliver did offer a way to get into college. The only time he felt safe in this universe was when he was with Oliver.
"I think I would rather stay with you." Peter said nervously and Oliver smiled at him.
"Really?" Oliver asked hopefully.
"Yeah, that offer to help me get in college still stands right?" Peter asked and Oliver nodded.
"Of course, you can make your own decisions." Oliver said and Peter smiled.
"Thank you and I don't want my name to be Peter Scott Queen." Peter scoffed.
"What would you like to be called then?" Oliver asked curiously.
"Peter May Stark." Peter said never wanting to forget Tony and not liking his own last name anymore.
Peter didn't want to remember being a Parker. Being a Parker is what got him in trouble. Parker is what killed his aunt. Nothing ever good ever came out of him being a Parker. In this universe he can be better, like his Aunt May and Mr. Stark.
"May Stark? Got a reason for those names?" Oliver asked curiously.
"My aunt was named May and my mentor was Stark." Peter explained.
Peter didn't forget about his uncle Ben. He knew he didn't want to connect his name to himself anymore though. Peter Benjamin Parker is dead. Ben died long ago and he just wants to move on.
"I'm sorry." Oliver said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"What?" Peter asked, shaking himself out of his grief.
"I'm sorry that you lost them." Oliver said and Peter huffed.
"It doesn't matter anymore. They're dead." Peter said, looking away.
"Why are you so angry?" Oliver asked and Peter took a deep breath.
"Because I didn't even get to go to May's funeral." Peter snapped at him.
"Do you need to talk?" Oliver asked.
"No, I need to punch something." Peter said and Oliver nodded. Oliver brought him in the backyard and allowed him to destroy an old shed.
Peter let his rage take over and everything went green. Peter was so angry. Angry at Strange, Clark, Conner, Bruce, even Damian. He hated being in this universe. He hated that he never got enough time to properly grieve and his nights were filled with sorrow and rage. He wasn't anyone's pet or child! He just wants a life of his own and Bruce ruined that!
Bruce made him go out! Bruce made him face the press! Now everyone's going to be talking about the "New Wayne" being taken by Oliver! He just wanted a normal life and Bruce ruined that for him! Now he can never show his back legs out in public. Now he's a part of some scandal!
Peter screamed as he fell to his knees and burst out into tears.
Why did this have to happen? Why did any of this? Why couldn't he just have stayed with Oliver? Why didn't he just run away when he had the chance?
"Peter, I'm here." Oliver said sitting beside him and Peter immediately brought Oliver into a hug, burying his face into Oliver's chest.
"I got you. I'm here." Oliver reassured him as Peter cried into his chest.
"I hate the press." Peter said wanting Oliver to make it all go away.
"I know Peter. I'll make sure they leave you alone and make sure the mess from last night is old news." Oliver comforted him and Peter relaxed some.
"Thank dad." Peter said hugging Oliver comfortably. Oliver tensed for just a second then relaxed and hugged him back.
"No problem son." Oliver said and Peter tensed again as he realized what he just said.
"I-uh- I- I didn't mean to call you- it was an accident- it- it-"
"It's okay. You can call me dad if you want." Oliver said and Peter blushed in embarrassment.
"But- I- I'm eighteen. I'm going to college." Peter said frowning.
"You can still be my son. Just like Roy is still my kid even though he already moved out." Oliver said and Peter looked at him in surprise.
"You have a son?" Peter asked in surprise.
"Yeah, he has his own life to live now though and so do you. That doesn't make you any less my son. If that is what you want." Oliver said and Peter hugged him again, crying quietly.
"I wouldn't mind calling you "dad"." Peter admitted smiling. Oliver smiled back and Peter felt a lot better.
Chapter 19: Getting Settled In
Chapter Text
Oliver couldn't believe Peter called him dad. Oliver never expected Peter to call him dad. Peter was independent and wanted to live his life on his own. Peter clung to him though and looked to him for comfort and protection. Peter looked up to him and held onto him. Whenever Peter was distressed he always returned to Oliver's side. Peter felt more comfortable around him than anyone else. Peter picked him to stay with.
Peter still wanted to go to college. Peter didn't want to stay with him. Peter still called him dad though. Peter still went to him if he was distressed. Peter was still currently clinging to his side as Oliver figured out how to deal with the press and get them to leave Peter alone.
Bruce did do a number getting the news out that Peter was his new son. Oliver's blow out with Bruce even made the headlines. Oliver knew how to deal with the press though and all they needed was a bigger distraction. Oliver threw the press into a frenzy by starting a rumor about Bruce and Lex Luthor.
With the press thoroughly distracted Oliver helped Peter make his new identity and got him to take the GED. Peter then started looking for colleges. Oliver also demanded Batman give over Peter's stuff and Bruce was reluctant but complied. Then Barry came over to visit.
"Hey, Peter I heard from Ollie here that you got a last name now." Barry said happily.
"Yeah it's Stark." Peter said happily.
"Peter Stark. Got an origin story for that last name?" Barry asked curiously.
"It was the name of my mentor in my universe." Peter said with sorrow in his voice.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Barry said in pity.
"It's fine. I'll make him proud." Peter said determinedly.
"Good on you. So Mr. Stark, what college are you going to?" Barry asked curiously.
"Please just call me Peter and I'm heading to MIT. I hope I get in. I've done my research and I shouldn't have any problems there because of my spiderness." Peter said happily.
"I'm paying for his college education and boarding. This little genius is going to study mechanical engineering and business." Oliver said, ruffling Peter's hair.
"Yeah, and I'm going to start my own business, Stark Industries!" Peter said proudly.
"If you start a company Ollie here might go out of business." Barry laughed.
"I'm sure he'll be fine." Peter said already thinking of ways to start up a business and get the ball rolling.
"Promise to take care of your old man when you rule the world, okay?" Oliver said, bringing him into a side hug.
"I won't forget about you. Maybe you can even be partners with my company." Peter chuckled.
"A company that you still need to make. I'll lend you some cash if you need it." Oliver said and Peter smiled.
"Thank you." Peter said sincerely.
"No problem, Mr. Stark. I know you'll pay me back when you're a trillionaire." Oliver said and Peter chuckled.
"And hey don't forget your favorite Uncle Barry. You're going places kid." Barry said, ruffling his hair.
"Favorite Uncle? When are you and Oliver related?" Peter shot back.
"Since this man resigned from the JL." Barry said, putting an arm on Oliver's shoulder.
"You resigned from the JL?" Peter asked Oliver in surprise.
"Yeah kid. Supes and Batman hurt you, I'm not going to stay on a team with those jerks." Oliver said seriously.
"Neither am I. I just sent in my resignation this morning." Barry said seriously.
"Wait, you too?" Peter asked in surprise.
"Yeah, you're my new nephew. I'm not going to stay on a team with people who hurt you." Barry said seriously.
"You guys didn't have to do that." Peter said, bowing his head.
"Of course we did, kid. Now who's hungry?" Oliver asked and they enjoyed dinner together. Barry stayed around and Peter got to know him.
Peter loved talking science with Barry. Peter got along with Barry and Oliver was actually glad Barry was here. Barry could understand Peter's science jargon and was really good with kids. Barry supported Peter and even helped Peter catch up with the history of what happened in this universe. Barry even got Peter to open up and talk about his own universe.
"Peter, the school year doesn't start for another two months. What do you plan on doing before the school year?" Oliver asked.
"Well, I wanted to build my own lab." Peter said and Oliver looked at him quizzically.
"Build your own lab?" Oliver asked.
"Yeah, I've also studied construction and I know a lot about architecture. I want to build my own lab." Peter said and Oliver chuckled.
"And where are you going to get the materials for that?" Oliver asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"You aren't going to help me?" Peter asked.
"I will help you, after you finish college." Oliver said and Peter pouted.
"It's the summer Peter, let's just have some fun!" Barry said and Peter sighed.
"I guess." Peter said reluctantly.
"Come on Peter, you won't be spending all your summer working in a lab or building one. We are going to go on vacation." Oliver said and Peter looked at him skeptically.
"Vacation? What about fighting criminals?" Peter asked in concern.
"Don't worry about Star City. Barry volunteered to watch over and run over if something big happens. We on the other hand will be going on a vacation and you can finally meet my other son Roy." Oliver said and Peter sighed anxiously.
"Everything will be fine Peter. You got a new name and you've been stressed out. Just relax. You'll only be gone for a week." Barry reassured him.
"I guess I wouldn't mind a vacation." Peter said, actually looking forward to it a bit.
"Good, we leave Friday so we have a few days to pack and make sure we got everything." Oliver said happily.
"Where are we going?" Peter asked curiously.
"Someplace far from all the distractions and disasters at home, Hawaii!" Oliver announced and Peter looked at him in awe.
"We're actually going to go to Hawaii?" Peter asked excitedly.
"Yeah, you would think me being stuck on an island for ten years would make me terrified of islands but this is Hawaii we're talking about. A vacation spot with people where we will be staying and facing no danger whatsoever and we will be going by my private jet, not boat." Oliver said seriously.
"Good to know that you won't be freaking out. Are we sure it's okay for me to go out on vacation?" Peter asked, chittering nervously.
"What do you mean? Why wouldn't you be able to go?" Barry asked in confusion.
"Because of my back legs." Peter said nervously.
"Trust me Peter, no one is going to even care about your spider legs. Hawaii is a tourist destination. There's bound to be a few metas here and there." Oliver reassured him.
"Besides if they do say anything I'm pretty sure Harper will shoot them between the eyes." Barry said and Oliver looked at Barry in disapproval.
"Roy isn't like that. He doesn't kill without purpose. If they do say anything about your legs I'll shoot them between the eyes." Oliver said and Peter chuckled.
"Thanks, I don't think I want you killing anyone for me though." Peter chuckled nervously.
"I will if I have to." Oliver said seriously.
"Noted." Peter said in surprise. "Is there anything I need to know about Roy before I meet him?" Peter asked curiously.
"He's a bit older than you, he has been struggling with substances but we're still working that out. He already knows about you and he doesn't hate you, he just gets a little jealous." Oliver told him.
"He thinks I might replace him." Peter deduced.
"Yeah, but we both know that isn't what's happening. Now if you both play nice I think you might actually get along." Oliver said and Peter nodded.
"I can play nice. When will I be meeting him?" Peter asked curiously.
"We will be meeting him at the airport Friday morning." Oliver told him.
"And why not before that?" Peter asked.
"Roy doesn't like me hovering over his shoulder. This is a family vacation though and Roy said he would be there." Oliver said looking forward to seeing Roy again.
"Do you two hate each other?" Peter asked nervously.
"Roy doesn't hate me. I don't hate him either. I'm just giving him his space. I promise things won't be awkward." Oliver said knowing Roy was just distant.
Roy said he wanted space so Oliver gave it to him. Oliver wanted desperately to restore his relationship with Roy but knew he couldn't just ask Roy to move back in with him. Roy would never want to move back in with him. Oliver is surprised Roy even agreed to go on vacation with him.
Oliver has apologized to Roy but Roy was still slightly mad at him. Oliver hopes he can apologize again and maybe even invite Roy back into the house. If Roy accepts him or not is entirely up to Roy. He regrets ever kicking Roy out. Oliver can't help but feel slightly responsible for Roy crashing out so bad.
"Do you guys still talk?" Peter asked him, looking at him worriedly.
"Yeah, just not as often as I would like to." Oliver said sadly.
"I hope you make amends." Peter said, looking at him wearily.
"Me too." Oliver sighed sadly.
"Come on, Peter. Why don't you show me around the mansion?" Barry said, distracting Peter.
"I don't even know the mansion that well." Peter chuckled nervously.
"Then we can explore together." Barry said scooping Peter up and running off. Oliver chuckled and followed after them to make sure Barry didn't steal Peter away to Central City.
Chapter 20: Peter Meets Roy
Chapter Text
Peter was initially nervous to meet Roy Harper. Roy was Oliver's estranged son that he rarely talked about. Peter isn't even sure what happened between them.
When he did meet Roy though he didn't exactly expect what happened.
"Peter, this is my son Roy. Roy, this is your new brother Peter Stark." Oliver introduced them.
"Ex-son and he is not my brother." Roy snapped at him.
"Nice to meet you too Roy." Peter said, trying to be nice.
"No offense Stark, but I don't care if he adopted you, I'm not calling you my brother." Roy said glaring at him.
"That's okay, I didn't really expect you too. Is that Jason?" Peter asked, noticing Jason came with Roy.
"Yes and he will be going with us because he's my boyfriend." Roy said glaring at Oliver.
"Boyfriend, that's surprising, congratulations." Oliver said, looking at Jason in approval.
"You don't disapprove?" Roy asked, looking bothered.
"No, I actually do approve. Jason is a fine man." Oliver said and Jason stood taller proudly.
"But he's a crimelord." Roy pointed out looking upset.
"Yeah but he still does good in Gotham. I'm proud that you found someone so capable." Oliver reassured him.
"But I'm gay." Roy said looking angry now.
"I know, I've known that for years and I still love you the way you are." Oliver said and Roy huffed.
"Why aren't you mad?" Roy asked angrily.
"I'm not mad at you Roy. You're my son." Oliver said sincerely.
"Ex-son I disowned you." Roy said, crossing his arms.
"I still love you. I want you to move back in with me." Oliver offered.
"No, not happening! I'm living with Jason now." Roy said, taking a step back.
"You already live together. Please tell me I didn't miss the wedding." Oliver said and Roy blushed.
"You didn't! And I guess if this week goes well, I might even invite you if we ever do get married." Roy said, looking away from Oliver.
"Jason, you better treat my son right." Oliver said seriously.
"I will." Jason nodded.
"Good, now let's get going." Oliver said and together they boarded the private jet.
Peter watched as Roy and Jason sat next to each other. Ray cuddled up to Jason and Jason held him close, protectively.
"You know it's rude to stare." Jason said and Peter blushed in embarrassment.
"Sorry, I just- I didn't know you two- I never seen- I- I-I'm sorry." Peter stuttered out, flustered.
"You didn't have gay people in your universe?" Jason questioned him.
"I mean- I did- I just never seen an actual gay couple." Peter explained in embarrassment.
"Be nice Peter." Oliver warned him.
"It's fine." Roy said and Peter looked away from them in shame.
"I'm not judging you guys. I'm sorry." Peter apologized again.
"It's fine, Stark." Roy sighed. Peter nodded, choosing to look out the window as they took off.
"Peter, do I need to have a talk with you?" Oliver asked and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"A talk?" Peter asked in confusion.
"Okay, come to the back with me." Oliver said and Peter followed him in confusion and fear.
"Peter, in this universe it is acceptable for a man to be with another man." Oliver said and Peter nodded.
"Okay." Peter said uncomfortably.
"I'm telling you this because what they have is a romantic relationship. That it is okay and you can't judge them-"
"I know, it's okay. It's all okay. I was just surprised is all." Peter said quickly in embarrassment.
"Are you sure?" Oliver asked and Peter nodded.
"I-I know about all that stuff and I'm okay with it. It-it's fine." Peter stuttered out.
"Peter, I'm serious. Don't you dare say anything about their relationship." Oliver said protectively.
"I won't. I promise I won't." Peter said quickly.
"Okay, good." Oliver said and went back up to the front and Peter followed him in embarrassment.
Peter never meant to come off as judgmental. Peter was just processing and he didn't want to start a fight with Roy.
Peter sat back down by the window and looked out of it.
"Hey Stark." Roy called out to him and Peter looked at him in anxiousness.
"Yes?" Peter said, wondering what he would say.
"Story is you were almost going to stay with the Waynes. Is that true?" Roy asked curiously.
"Uh- yeah. I sort of pissed off Batman though and things didn't really work out." Peter said shamefully.
"What happened with Superman?" Jason asked curiously.
"He and I didn't get along well." Peter said, frowning.
"What did you do to piss off Supes?" Roy chuckled.
"Nothing. Things just were tense because Superman was mad at Conner and took it out on me." Peter huffed.
"That doesn't sound like Superman." Jason said and Peter chittered in annoyance.
"Yeah Superman is like the nicest guy in the JL. He saves cats out of trees!" Roy pointed out.
"Well he clearly had something against me because when I was with him he wasn't that great." Peter huffed in annoyance.
"He couldn't have been that bad. Superman is like a fun uncle. There's no way he was actually mad at you." Jason said and Peter looked away in frustration.
"Yeah he's Superman. The guy is like a golden retriever." Roy said and Peter felt hurt.
How could they be defending Superman? If Superman was so great and good why then was he so rude and cruel towards Peter.
"People call him the literal symbol of peace." Jason was still defending Superman.
"There's got to be some other reason you didn't pick him. Did you eat one of his sheep?" Roy asked and Peter tensed.
Is Roy really going to insinuate this is somehow Peter's fault?
"Nah he probably just tried making a giant web inside. He is a giant spider after all." Jason said and Peter hung his head in guilt.
Clark did get mad at him for making a web inside.
"Boys, that's enough." Oliver said, noticing how uncomfortable Peter was.
"What? We were just asking? There's no way Superman actually hurt him." Roy said and Peter didn't respond just trying to keep himself calm.
Clark didn't hurt him. Clark yelled at him and was controlling but Clark never outright hurt him. Peter was angry and he took things too personally. Clark apologized to him and Peter didn't forgive him. Clark was just trying his best and Peter is the one who escalated things.
Peter got upset because he was told to take down his web. Peter destroyed the guest bedroom. Peter is the one who ignored Clark when he tried apologizing. Peter overreacted.
"Peter, are you okay?" Oliver asked, taking hold of his arm.
"I'm fine." Peter said, still gazing out the window.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Oliver asked him gently.
"No." Peter said and Oliver nodded.
The next thirty minutes was spent in relative silence. Roy and Jason were chatting to each other but Peter ignored them, opting to just stare out his window and stew in his guilt.
"Stark, you've been pouting for half an hour. What's got you so upset?" Roy asked him, gaining his attention.
"Nothing, I'm fine." Peter said coldly.
"Doubt it." Jason said and Peter chittered in annoyance.
"Come on, Stark. What's got you shaken up?" Roy asked him.
"Will you please just leave me alone." Peter pleaded not wanting to talk about it.
"Is this about Superman?" Jason asked and Peter groaned in annoyance.
"It is! Will you finally tell us what happened?" Roy asked excitedly.
"Look, we just didn't get along." Peter snapped at them.
"Duh. What happened though?" Roy asked and Peter sighed.
"I raged and didn't exactly treat Superman with respect." Peter admitted sourly.
"So you were a prick to him! Did you build a giant web?" Jason asked and Peter growled in annoyance.
"Yes, I did." Peter hissed in irritation, glaring at him.
"Knew it!" Jason said in victory.
"Only cuz you lived with him!" Roy said, tackling Jason into a kiss. Jason kissed him back and Peter looked away from them respectfully.
"Are those legs on your back real?" Roy asked curiously.
"Yes, they are." Peter answered shortly, still ticked off.
"Can I touch them?" Roy asked, walking over to him.
"No." Peter said defensively.
"Are they sensitive or something?" Roy asked curiously.
"Yeah and sharp." Peter said with a warning, his back legs held up defensively.
"Peter, be nice." Oliver warned him. Peter huffed, chittering in anger.
"Peter." Oliver said his name and Peter reluctantly stopped chittering, calming himself down.
"Man, you are prickly." Roy chuckled and Peter rolled his eyes. Roy poked one of Peter's back legs and Peter hissed at him.
"Peter!" Oliver snapped at him.
"He started it!" Peter hissed, glaring at Roy.
"Prickly." Roy said smugly. Peter chittered in anger and Oliver huffed going back to his nap.
"Careful there, spider." Jason said glaring at Peter and Peter backed down. "Roy, you know I love you but you shouldn't aggravate Peter. He's got the same pit madness as me." Jason said, bringing Roy into a kiss.
"Alright, I'll back down." Roy gave in, kissing him back.
"Thank you Jason." Peter thanked him sincerely.
"Threaten my boyfriend again and I won't be so forgiving." Jason said and Peter nodded.
"Sorry Stark. I was just curious." Roy apologized to him.
"I forgive you." Peter forgave him, chittering quietly.
"Can I touch your fangs?" Roy asked and Peter looked at him in shock.
"No, I'm venomous. I don't want to kill you." Peter said and Roy frowned.
"Fine, can I at least touch your back legs again?" Roy asked.
"They are sensitive and it is an extremely intimate thing to touch my back legs." Peter hissed.
"Roy, leave him alone." Jason said, pulling Roy away from Peter.
"Fine." Roy gave in and left Peter alone.
"Why do you want to touch my back legs so bad anyway?" Peter asked, bothered.
"I'm curious. You're a spider meta." Roy said, still looking at him in interest.
"Yes, I'm not some science experiment though. I got my powers from a radioactive spider by accident." Peter explained, hissing.
"He's so interesting." Roy said to Jason.
"Yeah, interesting and still a person, with feelings and emotions. What if I came up to you and started touching an extremely sensitive part of you." Jason said, running a hand over Roy's private parts.
"I- uh- oh- oh my gosh. I am so sorry Peter." Roy apologized to Peter in realization.
"It's fine." Peter said blushing at what Jason was insinuating.
"Peter, I apologize for my boyfriend's ignorance." Jason apologized to Peter as he took Roy into his lap.
"You're forgiven. May we move on please." Peter pleaded, looking away from them.
"Roy, don't have sex with Jason on my jet." Oliver said not opening his eyes.
"Fine." Roy complained leaving Jason's lap.
"I have a few more questions for Stark then." Roy said, looking at Peter excitedly.
"Please let them be normal questions." Peter pleaded.
"Yeah, of course. Normal question number one: why choose Oliver and not Barry?" Roy asked and Peter sighed.
"Roy-"
"No, it's fine. I'll answer." Peter interrupted Jason. Roy looked at him expectantly and Jason sighed letting him go.
"Barry didn't really take care of me. He tested me and Harrison Wells treated me like some science project. I wasn't human to him. I was just a weapon to him. I nearly died defending STAR Labs." Peter explained bitterly.
"Died? You nearly died?" Jason asked in surprise.
"Yes. I was electrocuted and broke a nerve. I was lucky it even healed in the time that it did." Peter said somberly.
"You... you didn't... why didn't you run?" Roy asked in confusion.
"I had to prove I wasn't a villain." Peter sighed sadly.
"What were you in your universe?" Roy asked curiously.
"An Avenger. I saved the world quite a few times in fact." Peter said, chittering in annoyance that he was still being questioned about his intentions.
"Impressive? That is impressive right?" Roy asked Jason quietly.
"Saving the world, yeah that counts as impressive." Jason whispered back.
"Impressive Stark." Roy said louder.
"Thanks." Peter said, glad Roy believed him.
"Another totally normal question, what was your universe like?" Roy asked and Peter sighed.
"I suppose I can tell you." Peter said and took a deep breath.
"I'm also interested." Oliver said, opening his eyes and looking at Peter in interest.
"Well, my universe wasn't super different from this one. There was still Earth and aliens but people with powers weren't really a common thing. All the heroes and villains are different too. The only alien on the Avengers team was Thor and he's a Norse god. Friendly guy though. I didn't actually get to meet him." Peter started off nervously.
"Thor? You had Thor?" Jason asked in disbelief.
"I mean, yeah. Magic hammer and everything." Peter said happily.
"Cool, who else was in the Avengers?" Roy asked excitedly.
"Before the civil war it was Captain America, he's a super soldier, Hawkeye, he's an archer, Black Widow, she's a super spy, Hulk, he's actually Dr. Banner. Dr. Banner was experimenting with gamma radiation and one wrong test later and he became a green rage monster." Peter chuckled.
"Green rage monster and he was a hero?" Oliver asked in confusion.
"Yeah, he eventually stopped becoming so ragey but yeah. Then there was Thor obviously and... and Ironman." Peter said tearfully.
"Ironman? Who was he?" Roy asked curiously.
"He was a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist and my mentor. He built a suit of armor that he fought in." Peter said, smiling at the memory of Tony telling the story of how Tony and Steve first met.
"So he was Bruce and I am obviously this Hawkeye guy." Oliver said and Peter hissed.
"Tony was so much better than Bruce Wayne. Tony was a hero. Tony could fly, his technology is way more advanced than anything Bruce made. Tony figured out time travel! Tony sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos! Tony Stark was much more than Bruce could ever be!" Peter yelled out in offence.
"Woah, I'm sorry. I was just comparing our universes." Oliver apologized quickly.
"Well don't! This universe is nothing like my own! Heroes have skewed morals, there are way too many villains here, and no one familiar is around! No one in this universe is like anyone in my universe!" Peter yelled in sadness and anger. Peter noticed them staring at him in worry and angrily made his way to the back away from everyone else. Peter sat on the ceiling, upset and grieving.
"Peter." Oliver walked up to him and Peter ignored him.
"Listen, I'm sorry for comparing our universes." Oliver apologized and Peter didn't respond. Oliver looked at him then reached up to him.
"Come here, get off the ceiling." Oliver said and pulled him down into his arms.
"Get off me." Peter said, pushing him away.
"Peter, you've been through a lot." Oliver said seriously.
"Just leave me alone." Peter said, looking away from him.
"Peter, we need to talk about this." Oliver said and Peter scowled.
"About what?" Peter asked aggressively.
"This, you getting worked up anytime you even mention your past." Oliver said and Peter dipped his head in shame.
"You need a therapist. I know someone who will help you and believe you. I just need you to tell them the truth. You're important to me and I don't want you going to college if you're going to freak out any time anyone asks you about your past." Oliver said and Peter nodded.
"I understand. I still want to go to college. I'll go to therapy." Peter said quickly.
"Good, you can just stay back here and calm yourself. We still have a few hours until we get to Hawaii." Oliver said and Peter nodded. Oliver went back to the front and Peter took a deep breath to calm himself.
He didn't mean to lash out. He just keeps getting so angry. He doesn't want to yell at Oliver or Jason or Roy. He didn't mean to get so irritated.
Peter walked back up to the front in shame.
"I'm sorry for getting so angry." Peter apologized guiltily.
"Don't worry about it. That was actually a lot tamer than Jason's crash outs." Roy said cheerfully.
"Yeah I get it. No need to feel guilty. I probably would have shot someone." Jason chuckled and Peter felt a lot better.
"Thank you for understanding." Peter said happily.
"No problem, pit madness will do that to you." Jason said nonchalantly.
"I'm actually amazed you didn't start throwing hands." Roy chuckled.
"Yeah, guess I do have a bit of self control." Peter chuckled.
"An impressive amount of self control." Jason corrected him.
"Whatever you say Jason." Peter said, sighing in relief. The rest of the plane ride went smoothly. Jason and Roy retold their tale of how they met and got together to Peter. Peter was actually very interested and was starting to get along with them.
Chapter 21: Vacation!
Chapter Text
Roy didn't hate Oliver. He was still sour about being kicked out but now that he's living with Jason things have been a lot better. Roy stopped using heroin and now only drinks every other week. Roy wasn't mad at Stark either. Peter Stark was given a choice and chose Oliver. That must mean Oliver was trying to be a good father or at least a respectable mentor.
Peter Stark himself was interesting. Roy never met a spider meta from another universe before and it was interesting to learn what Peter thought of as normal.
When they landed Oliver led the way to get them set up in their rental house. Roy and Jason decided to share a room. Peter got his own room and Oliver did as well. They had a view of the beach, a private pool, and a hot tub.
"Tonight we are just going to relax, then we will head to dinner at six." Oliver told them and Roy nodded.
Roy set his stuff in his room then found himself lounging on the couch with Jason. Stark was also there but he just rolled three little balls on the table then a hologram lit up above the coffee table. Stark was messing with some 3D holographic model of a building and Roy watched in interest.
"Hey Stark, what are you doing?" Roy asked, leaning against Jason.
"I'm working on a blueprint for my building for when I start my company." Peter said and Roy sighed.
Boring. Why was he working?
"He does know we're not supposed to be working right?" Roy asked Jason as they watched Peter work.
"I don't know, maybe this is how he relaxes." Jason guessed and Roy frowned.
"Hey, Stark!" Roy yelled out.
"What do you want Harper?" Peter asked, chittering in annoyance.
"Jason and I are going swimming. Do you want to come with us?" Roy invited him.
"I don't have a swimsuit and I'm busy." Peter said not looking at him.
"Come on, Stark! You need to relax!" Roy said, attempting to pull Peter away from his work.
"I'll join you in a moment." Peter said and Roy glared at him.
"Unlikely." Jason scoffed.
"Stark, you need to stop working and just have some fun!" Roy said, pulling at his arm but Peter didn't budge.
"Yeah, just give me a moment." Peter said, still not looking at him. Roy huffed then looked at Peter's back legs and smirked.
"Roy, let's just go." Jason said and Roy ignored him. Roy grabbed one of Peter's back legs and smirked as Peter froze.
"Woah, soft." Roy said, running his hand down Peter's back leg. Peter grabbed him by the front of the shirt and Roy let go of his back leg.
"Uh-I'm sorry." Roy apologized as Peter turned his head towards him slowly.
"Touch my back legs again and I will throw you across the room." Peter said seriously.
"Peter, put my boyfriend down now." Jason said, threatening him with a gun. Peter put Roy down then went back to work.
"Prickly." Roy said and hid behind Jason as Peter glared at him.
"Roy. I told you not to antagonize him." Jason said, picking him up and bringing him out to the pool.
"He's so easy to mess with though." Roy chuckled, hanging onto Jason happily.
"Yeah, because he has pit madness. Leave him be. This week is our vacation." Jason said, kissing him.
"Deal." Roy said, kissing him back happily.
~~~~~~
Oliver checked in on Peter and frowned as he saw Peter lost in his work.
"Peter, you know this is a vacation right?" Oliver asked, walking up to him.
"I know." Peter said still working.
"Well, most people relax on vacation." Oliver said, picking up the three small devices on the table that showed Peter's project, shutting them off.
"I was just planning for my future." Peter said, snatching back his technology.
"You can plan later. Just enjoy Hawaii." Oliver said, putting a hand on Peter's shoulder.
"I still have so much to do though and-"
"And you can do it when you're not in Hawaii. Go join Roy and Jason in the pool. Relax." Oliver said and Peter sighed.
"Alright." Peter gave in and stopped working. "I still need a swimsuit though." Peter pointed out.
"Then let's go buy one before dinner." Oliver said and Peter reluctantly followed him out to the car.
"This is a vacation Peter. You're not fighting anyone, there's no danger, just relax." Oliver said and Peter looked at him doubtfully but did seem to relax a bit.
"I don't see why we needed this vacation." Peter said as they got in the car.
"Because life isn't all work. Life can be peaceful if you just let it." Oliver told him and Peter chittered uncomfortably but nodded.
"I suppose." Peter said and went silent.
It didn't take long to get Peter a swimsuit and back to the house. Peter did get a few weird looks for his back legs but no one really bothered them.
Oliver convinced Peter to join the boys in the pool and Peter reluctantly did so. Peter wore a wet suit to cover up his scars, knowing they would judge him if they saw.
Peter never liked showing off his scars. Anyone who ever saw his scars pitied him. Bruce pitied him. MJ was always worried and pitied him. Even Ned would look at him in pity when he saw his scars. Peter was just glad the Avengers never saw his scars.
"So you finally decided to join us." Roy greeted him.
"Yeah, Oliver said it was a bonding activity." Peter said entering the shallow end of the pool.
"Why the wet suit? Are you vain?" Roy chuckled.
"Something like that." Peter said, going deeper into the water. It felt weird to move his back legs underwater.
"Your report said you had scars." Jason said and Peter scowled.
"So what?" Peter hissed barring his fangs at him.
"Everyone out of the pool now." Oliver said sternly.
"Why?" Roy asked in irritation.
"Because Peter is highly venomous and is spitting poison into the water." Oliver said and Jason and Roy immediately got out of the water.
"Sorry." Peter apologized as he also got out of the pool.
"It's fine, sorry for bringing up your scars." Jason apologized.
"You're forgiven." Peter forgave him easily.
"Why is he highly venomous?!" Roy asked Oliver angrily.
"He just is okay. He's part spider." Oliver explained calmly.
"Stark, you better not spoil any other part of this vacation." Roy said glaring at Peter.
"Roy, it was my fault that he poisoned the pool. I asked about a sensitive subject." Jason said, pulling Roy into a kiss.
"Fine." Roy then kissed Jason and Peter looked away from them respectfully.
"You said scars though. Stark, can we see your scars?" Roy asked excitedly. Peter chittered in irritation.
"No." Peter hissed at him.
"Oh come on Stark, your scars can't be that bad." Roy snickered. Peter looked away from him scowling.
"No." Peter said glaring at him, green at the edges of his vision.
"Did you not hear me when I said “sensitive subject”?" Jason asked Roy, keeping him away from Peter.
"But-" Roy looked back and forth between Peter and Jason.
"It's like the time you asked me how I died and I nearly killed you." Jason reminded him.
"Right..." Roy said slowly and backed down.
"Jason what did you do to my son?" Oliver asked angrily.
"He's still my boyfriend. I won't hurt him. I didn't hurt him... that badly." Jason said hiding behind Roy for protection.
"Yeah dad! That's how we met!" Roy said proudly. Oliver smiled at him then Roy tensed.
"You're not my dad!" Roy yelled at him, blushing in embarrassment.
"I am and I worry about you." Oliver said sincerely.
"Shut up. Stark, show us your scars!" Roy said and Peter rolled his eyes.
"You're starting to grow on me." Peter said gently poking Roy with one of his back legs.
"Will you show me?" Roy asked curiously. Peter chuckled.
"Maybe later." Peter said, figuring out that Roy was always like this.
Roy didn't quite understand the difference between sensitive subjects and normal subjects. He let his curiosity get the best of him and couldn't understand when to let a subject go. Roy was persistent and determined.
Peter sighed as he realized Roy was somehow going to convince him to show his scars.
"Let's get some dinner. Everyone, get ready to go out." Oliver said, breaking them apart. Peter nodded and went to his room to change into some regular clothes. As he was changing his spider sense went off and he looked towards his door in suspicion.
"Stay out of my room Harper." Peter said, walking up to his slightly opened door.
"But I'm curious, Stark." Roy complained and Peter sighed then opened his door. Peter was wearing nothing but his jeans and Roy looked at him in surprise. Peter observed Roy's face as it went through a range of different emotions.
First awe then pity then anger then Roy settled on an expression Peter couldn't quite decipher. Roy's eyes were wide. His mouth was set in a straight line. He looked tense. Roy's eyes were still traveling all of Peter's upper half and Peter noticed Roy's breathing becoming shallow. Peter could hear Roy's heart beating faster than normal.
"I got to go!" Roy yelled quickly and ran down the hallway. Peter watched him retreat in confusion.
Huh? Peter never got that reaction before. Was Roy scared of him? He didn't mean to scare Roy.
Peter felt an ounce of guilt for scaring Roy and closed his door to continue dressing up for their dinner. Peter wore a t-shirt and light flannel with jeans. Peter knew he would be hot because of the weather but he didn't want to scare Roy again so he covered up.
He met Oliver downstairs and Oliver looked at him in disapproval at his attire.
"This is Hawaii. No one here is going to judge you for your scars." Oliver said and Peter sighed.
"I scared Roy earlier by showing him my scars so... I'm good." Peter said and Oliver looked at him in disbelief.
"Scared Roy? That doesn't sound right." Oliver said in confusion.
"Well when he saw my scars he ran away from me. I don't know what to tell you." Peter said and Oliver frowned.
"Hm." Oliver hummed in thought. Roy and Jason came down stairs together and Roy yelped when he saw Peter then clung to Jason. Jason gazed at Peter and Peter began to get nervous.
Jason is going to kill him for scaring Roy.
"Hmmm." Jason hummed, seeming to judge Peter. Peter looked back at him in apprehension.
"I guess I can see it." Jason said walking out with Roy. Peter watched them walk away in confusion.
"What?" Peter said, puzzled.
"Let's go." Oliver said, leading the way out and Peter followed behind him in confusion.
What the hell was that? What was happening?
On the car ride to the restaurant Roy and Jason kept whispering together then glancing at Peter and Peter had no idea how to react.
Do they hate him now? Are they planning his murder? Does he apologize? Apologizing did sound like a good idea. If that makes them not want to kill him. Hopefully they aren't planning his murder.
As they got to the restaurant Peter approached Jason and Roy apprehensively.
"Hey, guys. I am so sorry for scaring Roy. I also apologize for spitting venom in the pool. Please forgive me." Peter apologized feeling ashamed. Roy didn't speak, just staring at him with that wide eyed look again.
"You're forgiven." Jason said, smiling at him. Peter smiled back in relief.
"So we're cool?" Peter asked, glancing at Roy in confusion.
"So cool." Roy nodded and Peter relaxed.
"Cool. Great. I'll leave you two alone now. I promise the rest of the trip I'll stay away." Peter said knowing they would probably want their privacy.
"No." Roy said and Peter looked at him in confusion.
"What?" Peter asked.
"What Roy is trying to say is that you don't have to avoid us on purpose. This is your vacation too." Jason said and Peter nodded.
"Alright, thanks. Glad we're still... uh- cool." Peter said, realizing he couldn't really say friends. Peter barely knew Roy or Jason.
"Friends, we're friends now." Jason reassured him, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Okay." Peter said awkwardly. Jason patted his arm then they headed inside and quickly got seated. Oliver was waiting on them and Peter felt bad for making Oliver wait.
"Did you get lost out there?" Oliver asked them.
"Something like that." Peter tensed as Jason slung his arm around him.
"Uh-yeah, something like that." Peter chuckled nervously, agreeing with Jason. Peter tried to gently push Jason away with his back legs. Jason ran a hand down one of Peter's legs and Peter hissed at him.
"Woah, sorry." Jason apologized, backing away from him.
"Don't do that again." Peter said, chittering angrily and glaring at Jason.
"Got it. Sorry." Jason apologized again and Peter shivered.
He hated when anyone touched his back legs. He hated to think what Wells would have done if his back legs came out earlier.
"Peter, I am sorry. I didn't mean to touch your back legs like that." Jason apologized sincerely, seeing how bothered he got.
"I forgive you." Peter said, calming himself down.
"Jason, this is the opposite of what I said." Roy complained to Jason also seeing Peter freaking out.
"I apologized. I let my curiosity get the best of me. You already- and I was... Peter, I am sorry." Jason apologized again. Peter got confused again and wondered what the hell was going on.
"You're forgiven. Just don't do it again." Peter said, chittering awkwardly.
"I promise. I won't." Jason said and Peter nodded.
They ordered their food and it didn't take long at all for it to come out. Peter noticed Jason and Roy arguing in whispers throughout their meal. Peter couldn't make out what they were arguing about but they did eventually come to some type of conclusion.
"So Stark, what's your favorite color?" Roy asked and Peter looked at him in confusion.
All that debating and arguing just to ask him his favorite color?
"Red." Peter answered not sure where this was going. Roy immediately started whispering to Jason and Jason started whispering back.
What the fuck?
"Okay, what are your favorite hobbies?" Jason asked Peter.
"I like reading, and inventing stuff." Peter said and they immediately started whispering to each other again.
What is this? An interview? Blackmail? What is going on?
"Can you shoot a bow?" Roy asked eagerly.
"Yeah, Oliver taught me how. What is this about?" Peter asked in confusion as Roy and Jason looked at each other.
"Can you shoot a gun?" Jason asked, ignoring Peter's question.
"No, I have webs. I'm really confused." Peter said, frowning.
"What is your sexuality?" Roy asked and Peter blushed.
"I-uh- what? Why-Why do you need to know that?" Peter stuttered out, flustered. They just stared at him waiting patiently for an answer.
"Bi, if you must know." Peter said, looking at them skeptically.
"I say yes." Jason said, looking at Roy.
"Really?!" Roy said happily.
"It wouldn't hurt to try." Jason said and Peter chittered.
"What are you talking about?" Peter asked in confusion and irritation.
"That is for us to know and for you to find out." Roy chuckled and Peter sighed, shaking his head.
Roy and Jason were such an odd couple. Peter knows whatever they are planning he doesn't want to be a part of it. That is if they are trying to get him a girlfriend or boyfriend. Then Peter definitely wants to stay out of it. Peter doesn't think he is ready for another relationship so soon after MJ.
Peter bowed his head in grief as he remembered his universe and MJ. It's been a month now and Peter still misses home. Peter then remembered what happened.
Strange said he was going to make everyone forget who he was. Peter kissed MJ goodbye then his spider sense went off and he was stabbed in the chest. Strange betrayed him. MJ and Ned had to watch as he died in front of them and drown in the green pit Strange opened up beneath him. Strange killed him.
Peter started to cry in grief. Oliver hugged him and Peter hugged him back sadly.
"What did you say to him?" Oliver asked Roy angrily.
"Nothing! We were just asking questions." Roy responded in surprise and worry.
"I got you Peter. I'm here for you." Oliver comforted him as Peter cried into his chest.
"I died." Peter cried out sadly.
"Yeah, I know Peter. You're alive now though." Oliver said, trying his best to comfort him.
"Strange killed me." Peter said in rage his vision going green. Oliver just hugged him tight and Peter sobbed into his chest.
"How did you remind him of his death? Did you ask about how he died?" Oliver asked Roy angrily.
"No, for once I didn't! I wasn't even going to ask. Jason tried to kill me when I asked about his death. I'm not going to ask Stark about his death. He might attack me." Roy defended himself.
"Peter, what happened?" Oliver asked Peter gently.
"He killed me. Strange killed me in front of my girlfriend!" Peter yelled angrily, separating himself from Oliver and chittering loudly.
"Holy shit." Jason said and Peter noticed everyone staring at him.
"Sorry." Peter apologized, calming himself down. Roy and Jason immediately started whispering to each other again while Peter did his best to keep himself calm.
He didn't mean to shout. He didn't even know what caused his memory to come back to him. But now he knows. He remembered what happened. Strange betrayed him.
"Can we go?" Peter asked, unable to take being in a public space anymore.
"Yeah, I'll take you back to the house." Oliver said, leaving a couple hundreds on the table then leading Peter out. They got back to the car and Peter started to cry quietly as he remembered the horrified looks on Ned and MJ's faces.
Strange killed him right in front of them. It was Peter's idea to make everyone forget who he was. He didn't know Strange was going to kill him. Peter still remembers the way Strange drove the crowbar through his side. The pain of drowning in a sea of green. Strange really killed him.
Peter cried in grief, anger, and betrayal.
How could Strange do this to him? MJ watched him die. MJ and Ned think he's dead. No, Strange said he would erase him from everyone's memories. They don't even remember he was alive in the first place.
Peter cried in grief as Oliver took him back to the house. Peter tried to wipe away his tears as he heard Jason and Roy whispering to each other again. Peter saw them in the back seat, looking at him in worry.
Great, he just freaked out in front of Roy. How is he ever going to show he's not a threat to Roy now?
"We're almost there. Don't destroy anything yet." Oliver said as Peter chittered in anger. Peter chose to stay silent and when they got back to the house Oliver had him punch a tree to help him through his rage.
It was a tall and thick tree but Peter managed to destroy every twig, branch, and leaf of it. When Peter was done raging there was barely any evidence that a tree stood there in the first place.
Chapter 22: Vacation (part 2)
Chapter Text
Oliver was worried. Peter was having another breakdown. It worried him how often Peter would rage. Oliver knew Peter lost everything though and had a right to be angry about it. It only made sense that Peter would be angry at the person who killed him.
It's only been about a month since Peter was killed. It spooked Oliver when he read in Peter's file that he had nothing to lose anymore. The only relief was that he had no memory of his death. Oliver hoped Peter would never remember. The kid has been through enough already.
Peter did remember now though. Peter was angry and hurt. Peter has too many scars to count and nothing to lose. Oliver has to watch over him, make sure he doesn't turn into a villain.
Oliver approached Peter as Peter was now standing over his destruction.
"Peter." Oliver called out to him and Peter immediately turned to him and buried his face into Oliver's chest.
"I got you. You're alive. It's going to be okay." Oliver comforted him as Peter started to sob.
"Can we talk to Stark?" Roy asked and Oliver gave him a look saying "what the hell? Why would you ask that right now?"
Roy looked at Jason then back at Oliver and shrugged.
"No you can't. Leave Peter alone." Oliver said, holding Peter close. Roy looked at Peter then looked at Jason pleadingly. Jason sighed then stepped forward.
"We would like to give our condolences and formally apologize for reminding Peter of his death." Jason said, glaring at Roy as he said the last part.
"Yeah, we're- I'm sorry." Roy apologized as well.
"It's fine, you guys didn't... I didn't even know- I was... it's fine." Peter said with difficulty as he wiped away his tears.
"Let's just rest. This is our vacation. Take some time to grieve properly." Oliver said and Peter nodded then went back to his room and closed the door.
"Jason and I are going to the beach to watch the sunset together." Roy said to Oliver.
"Alright stay safe out there. I'll watch over Peter." Oliver said and let them leave. Oliver then made some popcorn and put on a movie for himself.
Halfway through his movie Peter came out of his room and joined him on the couch. Oliver covered him in a blanket and Peter relaxed against his side. Soon enough Peter was asleep and Oliver felt sleep tugging at his own eyelids. Oliver finished the movie then finally nodded off as the credits rolled.
Oliver woke with Peter crying in sleep. Oliver gently hushed him, running a hand through his hair to calm him down. Peter slowly stopped crying and Oliver picked him up and brought him back to his bed and tucked him in. Oliver yawned then sat in the chair in Peter's room to watch over him while he slept.
Oliver hated when he had to comfort Peter because of his many nightmares. The poor kid went through so much.
In the morning Oliver left Peter's room to make breakfast. Oliver was glad when Roy joined him silently.
"Did you enjoy the sunset?" Oliver asked as Roy made some coffee for them.
"Yeah, Jason and I worked things out and... yeah it was nice." Roy said, sounding sad for some reason.
"Did something happen?" Oliver asked in worry.
"No- no, it wasn't... I was just... being stupid." Roy said despondently.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Oliver asked cautiously and Roy sighed.
"Nothing happened. I suppose I was just thinking of maybe... no- but it was... foolish and Jason- Jason... he... we might not talk for a while." Roy said sadly.
"Did he hurt you?" Oliver asked, fully ready to defend his son.
"No- nothing like that. Heh. I just messed up. It was my fault." Roy started to tear up. Oliver went up to him then brought him into a hug.
"I'm here for you son." Oliver comforted him.
"We had a fight dad. I'm so stupid." Roy cried into Oliver's shoulder.
"You're not stupid. I promise whatever you fought about can be fixed and, if it isn't, and he breaks your heart, I'll shoot an arrow between his eyes." Oliver said seriously and Roy chuckled sadly.
"Thanks dad." Roy hugged him tight and Oliver hugged him back.
"The eggs are burning." Roy chuckled and Oliver was quick to turn off the burner and try and save the eggs.
"Those are ruined. Do you want pancakes instead?" Oliver asked and Roy chuckled, nodding.
"Alright let's make some pancakes." Oliver said and happily made some pancakes with Roy. Peter joined them for breakfast and looked less sad than yesterday but still glum.
"Good morning Peter, I made you breakfast." Oliver said, handing him a plate of pancakes.
"Thanks dad." Peter said absentmindedly.
"No problem, son." Oliver said still a bit concerned for him but knew he needed time.
Then Jason joined them for breakfast and Oliver glared at him angrily. Jason glared back but ignored him and Roy the rest of breakfast. Jason then grabbed Roy once they were both done eating and went out the door.
"What happened between them?" Peter asked curiously.
"They had a fight. I'm not sure what exactly happened but I hope they work it out." Oliver said, worried about Roy.
"They were acting all strange yesterday. Can we just stay in today? I don't feel like going out." Peter asked.
"Yeah, of course. We can do whatever you want." Oliver said and Peter nodded, going to the couch and pulling up a movie he liked. Oliver sat beside him and they ended up watching movies all day and having their food delivered to them.
By the end of the day Jason and Roy came back and looked much happier to be together. They joined them on the couch and just relaxed.
The next day Peter wanted to go out so they all went out as a family to see all the lovely sights of Hawaii. They even went to a few fancy restaurants and attended a luau.
Peter was quite the whole time but Oliver was glad to see him smiling again.
The next day they went hiking up a volcano and Peter loved it. Roy and Jason were a bit more reluctant but they all enjoyed the beautiful island.
When the week came to an end Peter was in a better mindset, Jason and Roy seemed happy together, and Oliver felt closer to his family than ever.
Chapter 23: The End
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Peter started going to therapy. Peter didn't want to go but he knew he had to. He went through a lot and was still trying to process it all.
When Peter got into college he was glad for the space and time to work on his studies. He did have a business to start after all.
Peter never really made any friends in college but didn't mind when Roy occasionally came over to see how he was doing. Roy did become like a real brother to him and he didn't mind hanging out with him.
When Peter officially graduated from college he had his company started and running. Stark Industries took off and it felt like no time passed at all before he had a building and was already mass producing his products.
Peter stole the spotlight from Wayne Inc., Queen Industries, and Lex Corps.. Peter was soon a trillionaire and living his best life. He still went out as Spider-Man but he did good with his life and helped people in a way that mattered too.
Peter grew up never forgetting his past and living on for the ones he couldn't save. Peter was happy and made this universe his home.
Happily ever after.
The end.
Notes:
Rushed ending... maybe. Loved making this though. Ran out of ideas.
