Overdosing Off You

Beginnings.

Chapter 1: Reunion In Konoha

Chapter Text

CHAPTER ONE: My name is Hinata

Naruto In Suit

This is the very first story that I'm posting on this platform. I hope you guys will enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

Thank you for reading this!

I always felt like a creep when it came to him. That arrogant frat boy smile he flashed everytime he walked in a room with his loud group of friends. That intense blue stare he loved to make people lose themselves into as he ran in circles about his fascinating life stories on the outside world. He had always been a sucker for adventures, anything adrenaline pumping, wether it be going on illegal car races with the boys or throwing all the craziest parties in Konoha. He was bad news, and God, did I know it.

Standing at his blessed 6"3 inches, his smug blond hair always slapping his forehead as if to constantly remind him of how absolutely terrific his beauty was, this man was a sight. And yet he was always oblivious to me... Constantly blind to the thousands of signals I would throw his way to finally notice me.

I mean walking up to him would have definitely helped my case, but that wasn’t an option. I never had that boldness in me. Naruto Uzumaki was simply too striking of a sun for me to ever think he would have the time of the day for me and my boring and dull aura.

So for years I stayed in the back, fangirling by moments, running away from him by others. My teenage years had been a bloody cycle of obsession over one sole blondie male, who I always believed never knew my name, until today...

- Hinata?

It was winter, the streets were filled with crowds of people as Christmas Eve was literally the next day. Festive Christmas spirit was lighting the city. So how was it possible that in this crowd full of people, with the thick and ugly-winter-hating-blouse she had on and probably the ugliest scarf on earth did her former high school obsession recognize her ?

Her nose red from the freezing cold, eyes stuck wide in shock, she stared. She stared long and hard... Because yes, it was really Naruto Uzumaki, class 4-0, 3rd floor, number 130th student by grade count, best soccer player on the team at Konoha highschool, graduated in 2002... You get the picture... but yes it was really him. And she couldn’t understand how it was humanly possible for him to be even more beautiful in his late 20s. Sorcery indeed.

That gorgeous face intensified in beauty as his lips stretched to each corner of his face to form the most perfect smile she had seen in a hot burning minute. And yes, she was sure she had just gasped, and she was certain he heard her as he approached her with one sole grocery bag, stopping right in front of her.

- It’s actually you. Took me a minute back there to come up to you cause I wasn’t sure.

His eyes scanned her face and she suddenly remembered how incredibly embarassing she had dressed up to run this quick errand by the corner store. She had always believed she was one of the luckiest people in the city to live so deep into town at one of the cheapest rents, but today she would start reanalyzing her feelings about this. How on earth was it that almost 12 years after graduating highschool she meets the man she once manifested with every crystal piece she could find in Konoha in the most horrid outfit ever.

Mentally scratching her face, an awkward giggle escaped her lips as she adjusted her COVID-protecting face mask.

- This is crazy... she whispered. And Naruto laughed.

- Right ! Been quite a few years now. Didn’t know you lived in Konoha now, last I heard about you was 5 years ago, in the group chat for your brother’s wedding. He mentioned you had traveled ? Was honestly surprised to not see you there that day.

She smiled awkwardly, because this just reminded her of how invisible she had always been to him, this man absolutely had no clue she had actually been there the entire time. She had even been the bridesmaid that day, holding flowers and all that good bridesmaid stuff... Was she surprised though? No.

Images of that wedding day came rushing through all at once, she remembered she had been staring at him so much she had been scared to burn a hole in his perfectly polished tux. Because boy was he hot that night. And thinking about that night...

She suddenly remembered he had come with a plus one, who had been wearing a very expensive diamond ring on her finger back then. Logically, by now they should have been married right?

That thought in mind, her eyes immediately zoomed in on his left hand. But too bad the bag of groceries he was holding hid her curiosity relief.

Realizing she had been silent the entire time her mind was doing mental gymnastic, she finally returned his smile though he couldn’t see it under her face mask.

- Nice to see you... You look great! She added more enthusiasm at the end to hide her nervousness. Hinata never really knew how to interact with him.

- So do you. When did you come back ? He asked as he picked one of her 5 grocery bags up as if to help her loaded packages.

- Oh you don’t have to, I don’t live that far... she contested quickly, immediately nervous about being alone with him. But he rolled his eyes before picking another one.

- That looks too heavy, come on where you headed?

- I- looking up at his face, ready to debate, she could already tell she wasn’t going to win. This man was known for always trying to help others.

A nostalgic laugh escaped her and he smiled

- Exactly, he said as he picked a third bag from her.

- So tell me, when did you come back to Konoha? I had heard about you leaving for good after graduation right ?

He started walking towards a blue Audi parked very close to the entrance of the parking lot, so she simply followed.

- I went to Tokyo, I was accepted at a good university there, so I was based there for 9 years.

He nodded before unlocking the car with his car key, before gesturing to open the trunk. When the trunk automatically opened, he dropped his bags in the back before turning around to face her.

- By the way, where are you headed?

And suddenly she brust out laughing. This man had jumped to her rescue like he always did with others without even knowing where she lived, which actually didn’t consist of getting a ride at all. Because it was the building facing the supermarket she came out of before bumping into him.

After calming down a little, she noticed he had that mocking smirk on his face she was so familiar with.

- I live right in front of the supermarket actually.

He turned to follow the tall building she was gesturing to and then turned back to her to laugh at the situation as well.

- I guess you’re basically home then, he said after calming down a little, leaning on the car while watching her.

- Yeah, so don’t trouble yourself too much, I’m fine.

He nodded before closing the trunk. The next second, he turned to pick her bags up before handing one to her. And that’s when she noticed his sole, naked left ring finger. The look of surprise on her face must have been very loud, because she heard him the next second.

- Wasn’t the one I guess...

Immediately feeling bad for being caught, she looked away. But he continued, this time with an obviously forced joke.

- Some may even say I dodged a bullet, you know...

She nodded quickly and took the rest of her bags from him swiftly. That made him laugh, which she returned jovially.

- I guess imma let you get home then

She nodded again, at a loss for words from seeing him so randomly. She had not been prepared for this, so she didn’t know how to handle it.

As she was about to turn around to walk away from him, he called out her name. Turning to face him, she saw him walk closer.

- By the way, are you going to be at the highschool reunion party we’re throwing for next week?

YIKES.

She had actually heard about this event. She’d received tons of group messages from the girls asking her to finally come to this yearly event they loved throwing. In the 12 years since graduating from Konoha Highschool, Hinata had actually not participated in none of them. Sometimes she would actually not be available, other times she would purposely avoid attending because of what’s his name and his ex-new found lover.

Sakura had actually been harassing her just this morning to make it a point to come. The girl was turning thirty the next month and wanted a proper highschool reunion, and if Hinata had been considering going at all, the fact that Naruto was going to attend in all his 6"3 sexiness and naked left finger was definitely sealing the deal.

She nodded again.

- I can’t not be there, Sakura will have my throat if I don’t come this time again.

He laughed and walked backwards.

- Alright! I’ll see you there then !

- You bet.

She said, as she stared at his beautiful figure disappearing into the shadows of the night. Street lamps only showing his very expensive car. This man was definitely doing well, and she was happy. Everyone in town knew he had not had the easiest childhood, so she was happy for him and all his successes.

After graduating from Konoha years ago, Naruto had actually decided to take car racing to whole new level and signed to an agency in Australia. Where he had met his ex-fiancée. She had been checking on him on a regular basis through the media sharing his successes and losses, his milestones and scandals. She probably knew everything about the man. Up until that article that announced he had asked his then girlfriend to be his wife. Then it had become too painful for her to keep track. So she stopped, for her own sanity. And she was actually happy despite the obvious heartbreak that happened, he was still in the top 10 of the Formula 1. She was proud.

Walking back to the entrance of the parking lot, she stumbled when his blue Audi parked right in front of her. Window sliding down slowly, he put out his phone with an aloof smile.

- Give me your new line, just in case you’re thinking of ditching on us again, imma make sure I camp in front of your building that day if you don’t show up.

- Oh God please no, she begged jokingly, before taking his phone and adding her phone number in it.

She quickly handed it back and as he was reading her details she noticed a weird smile, and the next second a flash shocked her as he took probably one of the worst shots in existence and added it as a contact picture.

-ABSOLUTELY NOT! She screamed but he screeched the car and fled quickly, leaving her in a hysterical laugh.

- He’s not changed ! She laughed harder every more minute that passed.

Hinata thought she had healed from her stalking tendencies. She had actually tried. By throwing herself into her loads of work that made her very successful she had almost stopped obsessing over Naruto and his girlfriend. That was probably why she hadn’t been aware of the huge scandal that had taken place 3 years ago. Almost two years after seeing them at her brother’s wedding. Apparently, according to the press, the young woman who he had asked on one knee to be his wife had actually been unfaithful to him with her ex boyfriend, and that for 3 straight years of relationship.

She could only imagine what he had gone through back then, living all the way in another country to juggling between car racing, championships, brand deals and her. And yet she did that. Some people actually did not deserve to be loved, and she was one of the few lucky ones, and ruined it.

She could only feel immense satisfaction as she was reading the new update about the ex-fiancée sharing that she was now going through a divorce with the man she had cheated on Naruto with. And of course it was from cheating. Because men will always be men, she should have known better.

An evil chuckle escaped her lips as she closed her laptop to take a sip of her tea. At the same moment her phone lit up for a notification.

SAKURA SENT A VOICE NOTE*

Sighing already she played the audio and a very hilarious and absolutely non frightening Sakura was once again trying to bargain with her to come to the event. She had not replied to her previous 3 messages about it, and Sakura was known to be persistent.

Putting her tea cup away with a laugh she smiled as she texted her back.

- I will be there, you can take a breath now.

The response was immediate.

- YESSS! I’m sure everyone will be happy to see you again!

- I’ll be happy as well, she added before her phone rang for another notification. This time it was an unknown number.

UNKNOWN NUMBER SENT A PICTURE*

She opened the iMessage conversation to find an old highschool picture of the whole high school friend group. Sasuke, Sakura, Gaara, and Naruto in the front center, and Hinata and her brother at the edge. She looked shy per usual, isolating from the lense, almost scared of being in frame.

The number sent another message

- Best cohort of Konoha Highschool in my opinion

She smiled as she realized it was probably Naruto’s number

- Definitely, seeing this ignites so many good memories, thanks for sending me this

- Sure, he replied

And suddenly lost, she didn’t know what to say so she just decided to close the conversation and leave it at that. But as she got up away from her phone, it rang again.

Walking back slowly to her sofa where it was laying down she stared at his new message in awe.

- What are you doing tomorrow ? He had asked

And suddenly she remembered the next day was Christmas Eve, she had actually planned to finish working on a few projects due for the next month. At 27 years old, indeed her Christmas enthusiasm had already faded into boredom. She didn’t have time to decorate her place with pretty lights or mount a Christmas tree just for the hassle of having to demount it just a few weeks later. Yes, a complete boring adult if you asked her.

Hesitating for a few seconds, she texted back:

- I had a date with my tv and probably some hot chocolate with a some paper work on top.

He replied immediately with laughing emojis before the 3 dots for typing got active. And boy did she stare at it in amazement. She couldn’t believe this was really happening. Naruto and her had never texted before. They had interacted a few times before in school, in town, but it had always been very brief because 1 - Her brother was a complete douche who always scared every guy away from her, 2 - She had a stage presence level of 0.2, 3 - He was popular, way too popular, 4- She was scared shitless of interacting with him. So yes, this was all very new to her.

- Alone ? He asked again

And almost immediately she replied:

- Yes. Why ?

And the typing dots went at it again for the longest 40 seconds ever, before the new message popped up.

- Well me too, wanna rectify that?

Falling backwards on her sofa in a hysterical screech Hinata couldn’t believe it. Naruto was asking to spend time with her. Just a few hours after meeting her randomly in the street, what was this ? She absolutely loved every moment of it.

After a few minutes of fangirling mentally she calmed down and texted back

- I’m down, what do you have in mind ?

This time he sent a voice note and she mentally screeched again.

- I was thinking going to see the fireworks in town or a chilled dinner at my place ? Lemme know what you’re comfy with, and if you have any other idea you can share too, I’m not really the best at making impromptue plans that are convenient to everyone.

Taking a large gulp of her tea, she replied with her own voice note with a slightly higher pitch of her voice which would actually be hilarious to anyone that knew her normal day to day voice.

- I’m down for both, walk in town and then dinner?

- Perfect, do you want us to order or cook?

- Terrible cook, you can scrap that, I’ll bring a cake though, I bought some today

- Great, I guess that’s the plan

- Was great seeing you again, she texted before immediately regretting and freaking out at the bold message.

- I was happy to see you again too, especially since this time you didn’t run away or hide in some corner

- ...

He sent a few laughing emojis before the conversation went dead. And that’s when she was convinced this man wasn’t as oblivious as he made it seem. And boy was she right.

Chapter 2: Chapter 02: I'm Not Scared

Chapter Text

CHAPTER TWO: CHRISTMAS OF HEARTBREAK

I would be lying if I said I had had enough sleep. And you could definitely tell from the dark circles taunting my under eyes. This was a nightmare. Because why is it that the day I plan to meet up with Naruto, for the first time ever, my period decided to make a come back. And in the most painful way ever. Someone was definitely praying on my downfall, but they would not win.

A painful gasp escaped her lips as she bent down a little to calm the horrendous and agressive cramps harassing her back. The night had been long. She had been in the best mood ever when she had decided to head to sleep early, until that lovely 3AM toilet time, where she realized her favorite white bed sheet was now tainted like a crime scene. And of course the first day of her deceased ovary’s blood flow, came with the worst cramps in existence.

It was now 10:30AM and she was walking back slowly to her bed to lay down. She had tried taking a bath of burning hot water, which helped of course, up until she got out of there and the cramps immediately started again.

- Whyyyy... she groaned as another sharp pain could be felt and she turned to lay on her belly.

It’s then that her phone lit up. A notification reminder. Naruto had texted her 20 minutes ago, probably when she was in the bathtub praying to the Gods to spare her even just for one day.

Unlocking her phone, she saw he had sent her a picture of his breakfast, and right next to the traditional Japanese breakfast plate he was showing off, a brown Shiba-Inu staring right at the lense of the camera.

The picture came along with a text.

- How I’m starting my day. Your side ?

She groaned long, before finally adjusting in a position that would enable her to text back without igniting the worst back pains ever.

She took a picture of her glass terrace door, showing off the beautiful snowy town. It had been snowing heavy since 4AM. And she knew that because she had had to raise the temperature of her heater. Christmas Spirit definitely at play.

The city was beautiful though, still crowded because of people’s last minute purchases. Kids roaming the streets with their parents, chanting Christmas songs. That was both an advantage and disadvantage of living in town. The noise was either cute or too much. No in between.

She sent the picture along with a message

- Mine is starting cold, very cold.

He replied immediately with laughing emojis

- Yeah, and by the way the weather report is saying it’s going to be snowing a lot today.

- Oh no...

He sent a laughing emoji again

- Not a fan?

- Sometimes, but I don’t like when it gets too much, especially today.

The three typing dots got active for a few seconds before a new message popped up.

- What’s up with today?

- Let’s just say I’m incapacitated for the next 5 days.

After a few seconds of staring at the active 3 typing dots, another message popped up.

- What do you need ?

She internally laughed, as this was Naruto to the core. Checking and making sure everyone was good.

- I think I just need to take a pill and sleep for the next 5hrs, it always gets better after.

- This is common ? He replied

And she realized then, the man had no idea what she had insinuated with the “5 days” statement.

She laughed to herself again, before deciding that it wasnt really a conversation she was comfortable having with anyone usually, especially him.

- Don’t worry about it, I just need sleep. But I think if the snow is going to keep up like this we might have to just stick to dinner tonight.

- Sure, we can go in town any day. Get some rest.

- Thank you, cute dog by the way

He sent another laughing emoji

- Name’s Kiko, cute yes until she starts crying and screaming. I swear there’s nothing worse than a Shiba-Inu’s scream.

- Ha! Try a husky.

- Oh God no

And they laughed before she decided to drop her phone, pop her medicine pill and drift to sleep. She prayed and manifested pure healing for when she woke up, because she wanted to make the most out of tonight. She wanted to live this fully.

2PM:

Naruto was staring at the message he had just received from his publicist.

The instructions had been pretty clear for a while. He was asked to lay low 2 months ago after getting in a very threatening accident on the road. That was actually the reason why he was back in Konoha. Staying in Australia right now would have been a nightmare. The press was obsessed with his flaws and everything about him. None of his friends here knew that though, and he chose for it to remain that way.

But now he was annoyed. He had told his publicist that he wouldn’t be available for a zoom call in the evening because he was spending Christmas Eve with a friend and of course Stanley rushed to ask if it was a woman.

- We’ve had enough scandals about women don’t you think? He had said.

His tone. He never watched his tone. Naruto was honestly growing sick of it. The man did barely anything but help manage scandals and what to say. So why heavens was he always talking like he was the boss of him? He never understood that. The man annoyed him. And yes, he had tried many times to fire him, but it didn’t help that he was good at his job, and was part japanese so could understand Japanese very well. So no language barrier when it came to communicating with him and etc. Too convenient to fire.

But still, he was annoyed. So he just stared at the text while sipping on his energy drink.

Kiko started barking by the door, signaling that the food he had ordered from room service had finally arrived.

He dropped his phone on the kitchen counter before heading towards the door and greeting the enthusiastic employee.

- Afternoon sir, I brought the meal you asked for earlier.

He smiled before stepping away so she could bring the food inside.

- Have you heard from the maid that was supposed to decorate the dining table ? He asked, as he closed the door behind her.

She turned to nod.

- She’s on her way right now, her shift just started.

- Great. Please forward to her the pictures I sent of what I want the dining area to look like for the evening yeah ?

- Understood.

He nodded before disappearing in his master bedroom.

Removing his shirt immediately, he stared at himself in the mirror, thoughtful. It was fun being back in Konoha. Most of his friends still lived here. He met the boys every Friday to have some drinks and talk about life, he saw his old professors around town, some married, some with grown kids now. It was honestly so amazing being back.

But this place was also a hard place to only attach good memories to. Some people still looked at him as a dirty son of a criminal. Others still badmouthed him as he filled their tv screens with his formula 1 success.

He had grown not to care about people’s feelings about him a long time ago, but he was never able to completely ignore them. Especially now that he was constantly in the limelight. His past had been brought up very early in his career to discredit his growth, downplay his successes and bully him to praise his opponents on the trackfield. Those who hated his guts always loved to bring up how he was the son of a murderer, a good for nothing orphan...

Running a hand through his mid length blond hair, the man sighed.

He was honestly sick of the limelight. Especially after everything that happened with Hailey, the one he had thought he was going to marry and love for the rest of his life who ended up betraying him in the worst way possible. Life was indeed a bitch.

He caught a glimpse of the tattoo he had gotten in honor of their love. She had gotten the exact same one. A smiling emoji. That had been their first bond. A simple emoji and he never forgot about it. Which was now a reminder of painful days. So of course it was a blessing that he had a booked appointment in two weeks to get it covered by his mother’s name. That would help delete the last trace of that evil woman from his life again.

After a long thoughtful shower, he came out of it to his phone ringing. Picking it up, Sasuke was calling him.

- Hey dark and broody, wassup?

- Sakura’s harassing me to go to that stupid reunion again, can you tell your bestfriend to get off my ass?

He chuckled, these two’s relationship had always been a turmoil.

- Oh please don’t act like you don’t love the attention. Why don’t you wanna come though?

- You’re going ?

He sat on his bed in his towel before staring at the tv screen showing some anime.

- Of course, I haven’t attended in 5 years

- For good reasons though, aren’t you like hella famous of something ?

- I’m in Konoha right now, not relevant.

- Lol, if that helps you sleep at night, just check that it’s not happening in a public space if you’re going, if I’m coming I absolutely don’t want the crowd.

- You’re gonna come, Sakura’s single now.

- Like I care.

And on that, Sasuke hung up. Leaving him to make fun of him yet again. This man had a weird obsession with pretending he didn’t care about her when all he did was make sure he was aware of everything going on in her life.

It was common knowledge the pink haired punk had tons of feelings for him back in a day. Which he never minded until she started her dating journey, and every single man she had a fling with, he hated more. She had no clue though, which was again, fucking hilarious.

By the time he was done getting ready, he shot a quick text at Hinata, hoping by this time she was awake and better.

Opening the conversation, he clicked on her contact picture and stared.

Literally, anybody that had eyes knew this woman had the biggest care for him back in the day. She was always the nicest and sweetest girl in the friend group. But also the most quiet one. Especially around him. His friends back then always made fun of him when she ran away when he walked in the room or decided to sit 30 feet away from him at the cafeteria. Back then even though it was funny, it was hard to ignore. Especially because her brother was one of his good friends.

And boy was Hirashi crazy. The dude had always been a smart ass, very intelligent but one heck of an overprotective bastard. That was probably one of the reasons why Naruto had never looked at Hinata back then. He’s never care for drama like that.

On top of the fact that he was a complete horn-dog back then too. She just didn’t fit his taste in women, she was too innocent and scared, he would’ve ruined her. So he never looked her way. Not until one day though, but she probably didn’t know about that night. No one did. But that day, he had noticed just how absolutely stunning that woman was, both in spirit and physically.

She had no clue, and it was going to be real fun to make her aware of it.

5:12PM

- OH GOD !

They had planned to meet at 5pm and it was 5:12pm. Of course she was late. She hadn’t even showered yet. She had planned to wear one of her best outfits yet and wear some make up finally after 3 years off that. But of course she wouldn’t have time to do that.

He had texted her at 4PM to ask if she was okay so she rushed to text him back.

- Heya, sorry I’m just waking, I guess I put the alarm at 5AM instead of 5PM

His reply was immediate, laughing emojis per usual.

- No worries, you feeling better though?

- Yeah, definitely, the pills did their magic.

And they absolutely did, cause when she got up, she felt nothing other than the heaviness of the tampon she needed to remove expeditiously.

- I’ll text you when I leave, send me the adress in the meantime ?

- Sure thing. Take your time by the way, we have all evening to be honest.

She smiled

- Okay

It took her an hour to be done. And staring at her reflection in the mirror she was glad she had gotten some rest. Her dark circles were gone. Covered of CC cream, she had added some pink blush to show off her pale skin.

For once in her life she had been able to apply fake eyelashes without too much hassle. She had worn a simple white dress with some brown boots and a brown jacket. Her black hair was tied up, only leaving her bangs to caress her full dark eyebrows. She looked good.

The dress was modest but still showed off her small curves and she felt quite shy of it. She had almost worn something else, but Sakura had convinced her this was the dress so she didn’t.

As she closed the door to her apartment, she shot him a quick text.

- Leaving right now.

- I’m downstairs. He replied immediately.

Shocked, she rushed to the elevator.

- What? How long you’ve been waiting ?

- Don’t worry I just arrived I guess.

When the elevator finally opened at the ground floor she could see him standing at the reception of her building. Looking through magazines, black shades on. Oh yes, the man shouldn’t forget he is famous.

Thankfully the reception area wasn’t busy, apart from the employees going back and forth through the elevators and the security guard eating by the entrance.

Slowly walking towards him, she stared at what he was reading. It was an article about him.

Somehow feeling her presence behind him the man turned fully to take her in.

The shades barring his intense stare away made her less nervous about him noticing her. So she smiled with a nervous and gave a childish handshake.

He smiled back before gesturing to the entrance. She followed quietly.

And as she sat in his car, filled with that addictive perfume he’d been wearing yesterday, she closed her eyes, slowly taking this reality in. She was here, in Naruto’s car. He had come to pick her up, and they were now heading to his house to have dinner together. This was actually insane. Last week she wouldn’t have imagined this to be real. The man had never noticed her.

Her eyes went open when she heard him close his door side as he put in his seat belt. When he was done, he looked at her quietly. His shades removed. He didn’t say anything, only the radio was playing in the quietness of the car.

So she stared back, without a word. On a normal day, she would have never looked at this man in the eyes for so long, but right now, she felt beautiful. She felt powerful. She felt like she was where she was supposed to be.

So she smiled at him, and of course he smiled back.

- I didn’t know you were back in Konoha for 2 years. He said, as he poured another glass of wine for her.

It was 12AM and they had spent most of the night catching up. The man had such a high tolerance for alcohol. He had been listening to her rambling about her life, for the past 7hrs and was barely drunk.

His place was absolutely gorgeous. The dining area was wonderfully decorated with bows, lights, candles on the long and wide wooden dinner table. The food was a lot, and he ate most of it of course. Because who could forget that Naruto had the stomach of a hippo ?

She giggled, wine had made everything so funny for no reason. Hinata was never a great drinker. And that’s probably why he hadn’t served her too much. Just one drink every two hours, that she would sip for the next two, but even that already made her quite tipsy.

- I had a good time in Tokyo, school was fun. I made some friends. My thick accent was probably the non fun part, and the traffic, gosh I hate Tokyo traffic.

He chuckled as he sat forward, more attentive to her story.

- What about socially ? Did you have a lot of success?

This time she took her time to answer. She was never a social butterfly, quite literally the polar opposite. But in Tokyo she had taken the resolution of actually trying to get out of her bubble. And multiple bad experiences happened which led her to not really have that much interest for it anymore.

- You can say that... she replied, eyes looking away.

- That’s good, I would have loved to see that, you were always really secluded at Konoha High school

She sipped on her wine again before looking up, straight at him. He didn’t look away. He never did. She was always the one losing first. But this time she wouldn’t.

- Nothing’s changed you know... I’m still that quiet girl, with the quiet life, the shy tendencies and weak stage presence.

He stayed quiet and continued to stare, as if encouraging her to continue, so she did.

- I tried to stray away from being that person after high school, I wanted to be like everyone else, until I realized there was nothing wrong with me. I had to learn that the hard way though.

- You were bullied ? He asked

- Not really, but I was kind of forced into crowds that did not share the same values as me and tried to make me feel bad for it.

He continued staring and she chuckled, feeling suddenly stupid.

- Gosh I keep talking, this is embarassing.

He shook his head as he took her drink and sipped on it.

- You’re fine, I actually enjoy having you talk to me than running away

She chuckled and sunk deeper into her chair. Taking a breath from the intensity of his stare and the alcohol becoming too much. That’s when he spoke.

- You don’t have to be scared of me you know ? I don’t bite...

And her drunk self immediately replied with a sarcastic giggle.

- You do.

She looked up then and found him staring yet again. And instead of looking away like she would have on a normal day, she continued staring and repeated.

- You do.

So then, slowly, the man got up, dragged his chair closer to hers, as if so they faced each other. Sat right next to her. One hand behind her chair and the other on the table, holding her glass of wine.

- So then... are you scared? He asked, playing the glass of wine around in circles as he stared at her right in her face.

A sigh escaped her lips as she noticed the irises of his blues widening implying she had his entire attention. She replied immediately, the pull was too much.

- Shitless...

He stared for a few seconds again, before nodding.

- I’m not scared.

Hinata giggled again, this time looking away.

- Of course you’re not. You’re fucking Naruto.

She looked back and he wasn’t smiling, just curious. But he seemed to have gotten a lot more closer to her. His face was right here.

- And what does that mean ? I wanna know.

Hinata stared back quietly before looking away and hesitantly answering.

- You’re not scared of anything, you live for the highs, you still make sure to have fun at the lows, you love pain because you’re a sucker for adrenaline, anything you don’t understand you’ll try to crack it open and dissect it until you know all it’s content, you’re just you...life doesn’t scare you, because you know what being scared is. So you never want to go back to that again. You compete with your fears constantly as a reminder that you’re alive.

And then, she felt his hand under her chin. He stared quietly, intensively. Lifting her face towards him. His other hand was guiding the wine glass towards her pink glossy lips, and the next second she felt the bitter-sweet taste of the expensive wine roll on her tongue. But the man still stared at her, then her lips then back to her eyes.

And when she was done with the glass of wine entirely, he got right in her face again. Staring at her lips.

His stare too loaded for her weak mind. She looked down at his lips as well and hoped, prayed and manifested that he’d kiss her right that second. But he didn’t. The want and need was clear in his eyes but he didn’t cross that line.

The stares lasted a few more seconds, his finger caressing her cheek as he continued mentally devouring her lips.

And then he spoke, no whispered.

- Noted.

Before releasing her chin and getting up from his chair.

And Hinata heaved hard as the man disappeared into one room. So she sat there, out of breath as the fog of drunkness faded away. Then she took in mentally the intense sexual attraction that had just taken place. This man wanted her. He absolutely did.

But was she ready for him?

Lol she would never be.

Chapter 3: I See You Hinata

Chapter Text

Chapter 03

Contrary to popular belief, I had actually tried my luck in the dating world. Two times actually. Both very short and unfulfilling. I never really grew to enjoy these men past their charisma.

The first one was a guy from my second year in uni. He was cute, charming and had been on my case for the entire first year until I finally gave in. He treated me well, too well even, so much that I felt bad that while this very smart engineering student from a great family with the healthiest amount of attention for his then girlfriend was giving his hundred percent to the relationship - I went home and daily checked on the daily mail for articles about my old high school crush.

So, of course it didn’t last long. We separated on friendly terms, though he was convinced he’d win me back one day. Thank God he forgot about that and was now dating one of his very close friends, because I would’ve never gone back to him. I would’ve never changed. He deserved better.

The second was a man I had met in a restaurant I was working for. He’d tipped me an insane amount and we had debated about me refusing that crazy amount for an hour before he took it back.

He was handsome, like very handsome. Older, so more experienced and he’d tought me a lot about life and especially sexually. I was never really a fiend for sex like that until I met this man. That’s probably why we continued dealing with each other even after our break up. He didn’t like sharing so he’d seduce me to lay with him instead of other men even though we weren’t together, and I didn’t want to go through the emotional turmoil of a relationship again so we had settled for only sex. But that ended badly when I realized later on that he’d met another woman when we were off but was still dealing with me. Ultimately making me the other woman. So of course I cut him off, it also helped that I was moving back to Konoha 3 months later. I’d never heard from him again.

And now here I was, in Naruto’s house finally. After years of crushing over him.

It was now 4AM and he had given me a room to sleep in. The snow fall had gone too crazy for him to be able to drop me back home so we settled on me sleeping over.

I hadn’t been able to find sleep after our very sexual tension filled conversation from earlier. The man definitely noticed me tonight, if he hadn’t in all those years and I didn’t know how to handle that.

- You up? She texted Sakura

And of course the pink haired goth was up.

- Of course, what’s up? How did it go ?

- I’m scared, I’m very certain he noticed me tonight and I don’t know how to deal.

The 3 dots went active for a few seconds before her response lit up.

- You’re fine Hinata, just be careful. It’s always great to try new things but Naruto is who you’ve always wanted so I don’t want to tell you to rush yourself with hype and feelings, don’t.

- I know... I mean I’m still doubting he cares as much as I do, but it’s definitely noticeable that he sees me now.

- And that’s great! I’m happy for you, but I beg you play hard to get.

She rolled her eyes. Hinata was never a fan of dating games like playing hard to get, pushing and pulling. That stuff was absolutely a waste of time and interest for her but Sakura always lived by it. And it worked wonders for her. However Hinata didn’t have Sakura’s patience.

- And why on earth would I do that?

This time Sakura sent a voice note.

“Girl you know why, anybody with eyes knew you were absolutely in love with this man. I know Naruto is dumb and oblivious but I promise you the boys teased him about it too many times for him not to at least suspect that the jokes had some truths in it. So yes ! You’ve gotta play hard to get. You don’t wanna be that girl I promise you!”

She laughed before texting back.

- Alright cap ! Why are you still awake though?

- It’s Christmas Eve girly, it’s the perfect time to be romantic with your significant other so that’s what we were doing.

- Spare me the details.

Sakura was known for being the most sexually liberated in their group of friends. She didn’t care, fun was fun to her. Most girls hated her in uni because of it, guys loved her for it. She’d had an amazing success in uni with guys, so she dated rounds and rounds.

Hinata knew however that all this was a facade. When Sakura got drunk enough, she would cry about how her heart only belonged to one person. And only those really close to her knew it was Sasuke. The girl loved that man with her soul. But when he started touching drugs during his racing days he pushed her away, along with everybody. And she never recovered.

He was obviously clean now, and managed his family’s Uchiha company along with his brother. But it had never been the same between them again. She’d never tried to go back to him. Ignored her feelings entirely and never looked back.

Their relationship was now non-existent, apart from basic and polite hi’s and bye’s.

As she thought of all that, she heard rattling by her door. Earlier she had seen Naruto’s Shiba-Inu sleeping far away from them. She could tell he had no interest in interacting with strangers. So she was surprised when she saw him sitting in front of her door, looking at her with curiosity.

- Hey buddy. She said before bending down to pet him.

He swiftly avoided her petting hand and continued staring.

She giggled. Shiba-Inu’s we’re known to not be much fans of affectionate people, and Hinata ? She had lots of love to give!

As she was looking for the name of his collar, a figure in the darkness behind him came out of the shadows and she stumbled backwards surprised.

- Gosh you scared me !

Naruto laughed as he walked towards them.

- Sorry bout that, you okay ? He asked as he helped her up on her feet.

- Yeah yeah, she chuckled again

- I got a visitor earlier so was just trying to say hi, he’s not really friendly to me though.

Naruto looked down at the dog who was now facing him, all animated.

- Yeah sorry about that. This one is a curious one. He hates physical contact tho. Still training him.

Following his stare over at the dog she nodded.

- That’s fine.

At that moment it got quiet for a few seconds before he turned to look at her again.

- You’re not sleeping. He said, as if just noticing.

She nodded before brushing her arms, the heater was okay but she could still feel the cold from the snow fall pouring outside.

- Yeah, I was waiting to catch Santa Claus I guess.

He smiled quietly before staring for a few quiet seconds. After a while of staring back, she noticed him getting a small box out of his hand, it was wrapped in a colorful wrapping. Her eyes went wide.

- Okay not fair, you never told me we were doing that.

He smiled again.

- Don’t worry, I had mine earlier.

- I didn’t give you anything?

He stared again.

- Yes, you did.

Confused she just stared at the box with curiosity. What could he mean ? She had not given him anything at all. She would remember it.

- Merry Christmas, he said. Before handing her the small wrapping.

She looked up again at him before taking the package. Her curiosity ignited.

- You really didn’t have to.

She unboxed it, and as she opened the box, her eyes went wide. It was simply a bracelet. Nothing more nothing less. Not worth a lot. Hell not even 1 yen. She hadn’t spent a penny on this back then. But the fact that this man had it. All those years he had it and probably remembered the day she’d lost it said a lot. No, it said too much.

Unconsciously, she dropped the box as tears ran down her face.

- You knew ? She whispered.

And as she looked up at him, she realized he was right in her face now. He had stepped again a little too close to her, to her heart.

- I always knew. His voice was monotone, he wasn’t lying.

- That’s- You would’ve said something. She was now crying.

Which he stopped as he grabbed her face within his hands and pulled it up to look straight in his eyes. To look at his face as he was admiring her beautiful face in tears.

- I knew, I saw you that night, I saw how you called help for me and I saw how you asked these two men to save my life and drag me to the hospital.

- Stop it.. she pushed his hands away as she couldn’t handle this.

- You don’t have to run Hinata, I’m right here, I know it was you, I know you saved me. I know I owe you my life.

- Stop it! She pushed him harder this time before running back into her room, he simply followed behind her as she broke down. The memories too painful for her. Nobody knew but him and her. Nobody knew what she had done for him.

He went up to her again and pulled her into his arms before hugging her tightly as her cries went louder every breath she took.

- You looked so beautiful that night. I saw you that night, I saw you loud and clear. He whispered and she cried even harder.

KONOHA 1997 RACING TRAGEDY

Not a lot of people knew why their group of friends went into a spiral after 1997. Sasuke had started taking hard drugs right about that period of the time. Naruto had isolated from socializing. Sakura had turned her studious student with the good girl image into a punk and goth with anger issues one knew before.

Their car racing tendencies were very active and yet quiet. Not many people knew there were actual car races going on in Konoha until the sad tragedy that took place in the outskirts of the city.

The race had taken a dark turn when one of the racers pulled up to the track drunk and hid it from everyone, lost control of the car and had hit Naruto’s rented car.

The impact while at fast speed unfortunately led to Naruto’s car crashing into a nearby tree and lighting on fire. That day Naruto had went alone to the track on a 2000 bet as the opponent was salty about losing previously. Everybody had told Naruto not to go, and of course he had lied and said that he wouldn’t.

The only person who knew he would was Hinata so she followed him quietly to the track till the incident took place. Of course the opponent immediately ran away with his gang of friends he had brought to the track. Leaving him alone there, in a burning car, to probably die.

She had rushed to the car to save him with the last breath she had. She had followed him around on her bike so she got there almost as the fire was beginning to spread to the front seat where Naruto was unconscious.

Rushing to his side she had removed his seatbelt and quickly dragged him far far away from the far. But as they were far she remembered he had a purse in the car that had some belongings that, if found would connect him to the incident so she stupidly ran back to the car as the fire was still spreading and picked up the burning leather back.

It’s probably then, the bracelet slipped away.

Hinata had been able to get the bag back and rushed back to his side. Making sure he was breathing. But then a loud explosion was heard, and not from the actual burning car by the tree. No, apparently a little further away, the same drunk driver had crashed again. But this time it was fatal to him. He died on impact. They discovered that the next day as they read the papers unfortunately.

Hinata had asked the son of the butcher close to her house to help her drag Naruto to his house and he did, worrying about his state too.

He had cleaned him along with her and she’d left him with less worries. He had been removed from the car before the fire spread so he didn’t have a burn anywhere.

The only damage was a scratch on his left arm which happened when she dropped him in the bushes before running back to the car to retrieve his stuff.

She’d stared at him for a long 30 minutes before running back to her house before her absence was noticed. But Naruto never woke. Even in the car he hadn’t opened his eyes not once, so how did he know it was her ?

The accident later on was put on the reckless drunk driver who passed away with 2 of his friends in the back seat. It was concluded they had crashed the first one after one of them raced as well and then all fled the scene, where they would meet their untimely death. Nobody linked the first car to Naruto ever. Only his group of friends knew, as one of the dead passengers was a good friend of Sasuke. And it marked the friendship forever.

- You looked so beautiful, like an angel... he whispered, and this time he was caressing her face as her cries stopped.

- You never said anything all these years... she whimpered.

- I didn’t know how to bring it up, I was sure it was something you wanted to forget. But since that day I noticed you anywhere you went. Anywhere.

She pushed away gently before picking up her bag.

- I have to go.

He rushed to her and took her hand in his.

- Is that why you’re scared Hinata ?

She looked up, his face determined.

She nodded.

- I am terrified.

He nodded as well, understanding. After a few seconds he asked again

- Of me ? Or of what you did for me ? Do you regret it ?

- Of course not, I just want to forget about that day Naruto.

He nodded again.

- I understand...

After a few minutes of silence she rushed out before hearing his voice again.

- I’m not scared Hinata

She stopped to look at him in awe. He kept saying that but what did he mean.

- I’m not scared of anything anymore like you said. It took me a fucking minute to realize it but, I do care about you, I wanna know you, I want to be around you, I want to pay you back for my life and I don’t like owing shit to anyone.

- You don’t owe me shit, she whimpered as he got closer, all in her face.

- Yes I fucking do, I owe you everything. And on that note he grabbed her face, ready to kiss her, but then his phone rang.

He paused a second before looking at Hinata who used that moment of hesitation to run away.

- Hinata

- I’ll see you around Naruto.

And she walked out.

Chapter 4: The Pregame

Chapter Text

Hey everyone, I’m so thankful for the love my fanfic has received since I posted it yesterday. Your reviews are very much appreciated. I have so many things planned for this fanfic! Get ready !

I still remember the first time I saw him. He was 12, I was younger. He had walked through the doors of our classroom with our teacher right beside him. Everybody was curious who the new blond kid was, but he never spoke. He never introduced himself. After 5 minutes of trying to make him introduce himself, our teacher had just decided to give us his name and asked us to greet him. The kid never returned a smile or even acknowledged anyone.

Naruto in his early life was far from the goofy and jovial man he is today. He was as dark and mysterious as his bestfriend Sasuke. They bonded very quickly for that reason. Most people thought it was because they were both orphans with a dark past. But it was deeper than that. That was probably why he was the only friend he made in his first year at the school.

People were scared of them back then. And yet to her, Naruto had always been a beautiful soul to look at. To admire from afar. She always saw some light in him. And when years later he started being more social and interacting with all the other kids, she just knew that’s what was hiding this whole time. The kid was good, just too much in pain.

Hinata was stressed. Literally.

It had already been a week since she had left Naruto’s place in a rush. And she still didn’t feel ready to meet him again. But of course the universe didn’t care about her feelings, so the week had went at the speed of light and today happened to be the day the highschool reunion was happening.

- Can you stop that “sighing” I beg of youuuu... Sakura was groaned.

It was 6:45pm. She was still face under her pillows. The chick had spent the entire night partying for whatever reason and unfortunately had forgotten that they had the highschool reunion planned for this evening. Of course she knew better, the girl’s tolerance for alcohol was tragically null, and yet she always did this after her and whoever she was dating had a fight.

- Sakura you need to get up if you don’t want us to get there late...

Fake crying, her pink haired friend punched the bed as if throwing a tantrum like a toddler, which of course made her laugh.

- You’re unbelievable...

The next second her friend removed the pillow from her face and started wailing.

- No but I still can’t believe he said that to me Hinata! He doesn’t deserve me at all! It’s literally over.

- I dont doubt that, Hinata said.

Sakura was just different. She could snap out of a relationship so easily you wouldn’t even be able to tell she ever cared. That’s probably one of the biggest things she envied about her. Sakura didn’t take shit from anyone... at least that’s what most people thought.

Hinata knew she would always have that obsession with Sasuke. She never brought him up in conversations and always went out of her way to avoid him, but the chick had it bad for him. And she probably noticed how toxic it was for her and decided to stop pursuing or caring about him (openly) at all. In her opinion, she had been doing fine. But running away from our problems was something Sakura always told her would have consequences later on... but she herself wasn’t taking her own advice.

The Sasuke x Sakura arc was going to happen eventually, and it was going to intense and overwhelming for everyone involved... She didn’t think Sakura was ready. Which was why she just settled with men she could handle and dispose of easily...

- Glad you know, added Sakura with a laugh.

However, Hinata wasn’t paying attention anymore. As she was applying more lipgloss, she noticed a notification pop up on her phone.

"Hey Hinata, looking forward to seeing you at the reunion today."

This was the 13th message Naruto had sent her since they had parted ways last time. And of course she hadn’t replied to any of them...

Hinata sighed as she rubbed her forehead. She didn’t know what to do... He had been consistently texting, checking up on her or just trying to strike a conversation for the past week. However, she had decided not to reply to any.

It was ridiculous. She knew it... She loved that man, she wanted him more than anybody else. But that was exactly it. That was the exact reason she was careful about all of that... Naruto was known around the media for having loads of fun. So of course she was scared to believe that this sudden new interest for her was one hundred percent genuine.

Hinata couldn’t deal with uncertainty when it came to him. She had to know exactly what he was looking for. Because only God knew how much she was ready to give her entire being to him. But it was scary... She knew if it didn’t work out, she would never recover...

Staring at her profile in the mirror, you could just clearly see how terrified she was. And tonight was going to be a hard one for her.

SASUKE:

Today was another one of those “Fuck it” days where I allowed myself to feel everything, where I didn’t ignore the pain, and the way my thoughts and feelings were constantly spiraling and confusing me as every new thought hit me harder than the previous one.

“ADHD”, the doc had said years ago. If I ever cared I would have looked it up on google growing up. But I never did. I just knew I was a complete and utter bastard. With a shit ton of issues and I owned it.

Scrapping the last line with the slim credit card, I parted the holy white powder in perfect lines. Not a single guilty feeling in mind.

Nobody knew I had relapsed. I kept everybody at arms length enough so they wouldn’t get close enough that they would be able to tell. Naruto and I just met twice a week at max. Both times I always kept myself in check.

I knew what people said about drugs was somehow true. Relapsing was never good. People who believed to be in control never were... bla bla...

However in my case? I was strong mentally. I could drop it whenever I wanted. I had done so for 7 years. So it was definitely possible. I just didn’t want to. Why would I ? My life was a fucking mess. Constantly having to compete with my older brother for who deserved the most stocks. Having to live off the fortune of a father that I completely hated the guts of. Having to pretend to care every single day.

It had been many times I’d almost thrown the towel and walked away from Uchiha corp. But who could ? My family was know to be affiliated with darkness. People were scared shitless of me back in high school because of it. It was well known we never hesitated to play dirty and had very close ties with Yakuza families.

I’d been used to being alone until I met this blondie who wasn’t scared of shit. And this one annoying pink haired punk.

His head fell backwards as he was taking the last line of coke. Eyes fixated on the roof of his large room. Sasuke was alone again. He always waited until he was to enjoy himself like this. With Itachi not lurking everywhere to use it against him, and the maids asked to keep watching him all off duty. Yeah, he loved this time solitude..

He bumped his head along to the music playing when he noticed his phone glow on his bed.

Getting up, he laid down and reached for it just to roll his eyes at the notification.

It was one of Sakura’s post notification. She had yet again posted a third selfie, after deleting the 3 previous ones.

He unconsciously clicked on her profile before drowning his attention in her pictures.

The girl now had 57k followers on instagram. He’d always known she was going to be something one day, but popular ? Hell nah, not in a million years. The chick had been such a know-it-all for most of their childhood before switching to this unrecognizable gothica.

He stared at the one of the most recent picture she had posted on her page. It was a sexy playboy bunny cosplay with the most extravagant and goth make up ever. Black everywhere around her eyes, fake piercings on her nose, lip and eyebrow. In his opinion she looked a mess. But the 33,456 people who had liked the photo probably had a different opinion. But what did he know ?

As his eyes roamed around her page, his attention zoomed in on one picture he absolutely loathed. It was her sitting on the lap of her current “broke” boyfriend.

She had always had the worst taste in men and Sasuke absolutely hated every single new male she introduced yearly on her social media. The girl could just never stop. She was addicted to being in a relationship.

Since their early 20s as they both went to the same uni, she had done a complete 180 when it came to her mentality. But he couldn’t say anything to her though, cause he knew deep inside, he was partially responsible.

They had always been close, and when he had been spiraling through his bad days and sinking further into his drug addiction years ago, she had fought him tooth and nail to be there for him. And yet he still rejected her. Everytime she tried harder, more hurtfu would he be, until she had finally cried her soul dry and walked away.

He had actually underestimated how strong her ability to leave him behind would be. She had been obsessed with him for the longest. He’d known that very well. So when years passed and no interaction with him was ever seeked out again, no attempt to be in his space met again, he understood. The girl was done.

He had completely broken her and now she was afraid. Now she was losing herself to this addiction to relationships, constantly seeking validation online, constantly being loud to convince herself that she was heard and valid.

Sometimes he stared at old pictures of them and wished he could see the old Sakura again. But he probably never would again. Not until she healed.

Staring at the most annoying smug a man could ever display, Sasuke decided to click the profile link to the douche’s page. He was a fitness guy, 300 posts full of pictures of him showing off his work out routines etc and a few other pictures showing off his motorbike and a few watches.

The man was broke, Sasuke knew that because he had looked him up as soon as Sakura posted about her new flavor of the month.

The man was barely making ends meet, he had a sick mother in the hospital who he used most of his income to take care of. He lived in his grandma’s house, the motorbike was an old model he redesigned to cosplay luxurious... Pathetic...

Sasuke smiled mockingly, he knew Sakura. She made way too much money to have to take care of a man. As feminist as she was, she always drew the line when it came to money. The man’s days were being counted.

His phone lit up to a phone call from Naruto which he picked up immediately.

- Wrong day to fuck with me so tread lightly.

He laughed on the other line.

- Well too bad that’s my job lol... you cool?

- Meh, but instead of worrying about me you should probably go back to stressing about how “shy girl” has not been replying to any of your texts in a week.

Naruto simply sighed, and Sasuke immediately knew then that there had been no update. He had also aware that all those years ago Hinata had been the one who had saved him from that car crash, along with gaining trauma from witnessing such a horrible thing. The frail chick was strong even though she barely showed it off.

- But you know... if you start this shit with her it has to be worth a while right ? Not only because of the type of chick that she is, but on top of that you’re annoyingly famous AND her brother is one freaking asshole.

- Who could forget about that? Naruto laughed before sighing deeply.

- So, figure it out before you open that door dude.

- Thanks therapist, I’m seeing you at the reunion tonight right?

- Not sure, I have a ton of stuff to do...

- No the fuck you don’t. Naruto laughed, knowing he was taking the piss.

- Burn in the deepest parts of hell. Sasuke sarcastically retorted before hanging up the phone.

Staring back at Sakura’s Instagram page, he went back to business. Naruto had interrupted an important moment in his routine trap house sessions: The moment he convinced himself this flavor of the month Sakura had miraculously found just 2 weeks after breaking up with her previous boyfriend would not last. They never did. Why? Because none compared to him.

A smirk escaped his lips as he lit up his cigarette and continued his stalking. Tonight was going to be eventful...

7:30PM

- For fuck’s sake Hinata, text the man back.

Hands in her hair, Sakura was staring daggers at her friend. She had finally gotten out of bed and was almost ready to leave. Sakura had been confused for the past week hearing that Hinata had been avoiding Naruto like plague.

- I mean, so what if he knows it was you who saved him decades ago? If anything he actually told you it made him see you in a different light. Since that day years ago, he actually has been noticing you.

Hinata pushed the towel into her hair drying her freshly washed hair.

- I genuinely do not believe that Sakura... He asked me why I wasn’t at my brother’s wedding... whole time I was a front and center bridesmaid...

- Okay well what are you going to do then? Ignore him forever ? We’re leaving in 20 minutes Girl, get your shit together.

Hinata rolled her eyes but she knew she had a point. Nothing would actually come out of avoiding Naruto like this. Escapism never fixed the situation. But one thing Sakura didn’t know was that she was scared shitless.

She had been used to him never seeing her, never looking her way while she obsessed over him for years. And now out of nowhere he claimed he had been watching her this whole time. It was hard to believe...

That actually meant even when he was with his ex-fiancé he had known all about it and just didn’t say anything... Why?

- Uber is here, let’s go...

And there they went, for a night they probably never saw coming, and would’ve never been prepared for...

The eye opening night.
