Chapter Text
It was another uncomfortably normal day at the hotel. The small crack in the sky was a lingering reminder of their world almost shattering in ruin. But other than that, everyone mostly went about as if nothing happened.
Well, mostly everyone.
Besides Two holing up in their room, a certain celestial being took it upon himself to look over the ominous crack in the sky. Ever since the near end-of-the-world disaster, Black Hole refused to spend any moment away from it.
He ignored most of his other priorities. The challenges, his team…..and his boyfriend. However this didn’t really hit him until a few weeks after the last challenge.
Thanks to Fanny’s forceful interventions, Black Hole has been hanging out with his team more often. But his attention was never fully on them. He was always glancing back at the crack in the sky, and he always made up fake excuses just go back and monitor it.
One specific day, Fanny was attempting to make small talk with Black Hole and as usual, he was too preoccupied with the crack to pay any attention to what she was saying. His mind was so focused on the crack, that he didn’t even realize that Fanny had been repeatedly asking him a question, and after a while of no response from him, she finally had enough and kicked him in the back of the knee.
“Black Hole!”, she yelled, whacking him as hard as she could. He yelped in pain, bracing himself against a wall as he glared at the angry woman next to him. “What the heck was that for!?!”
“I was asking you if you knew where Tree’s been because I haven’t seen him all day. I hate when people don’t pay attention to what I say!”
Black Hole froze at that. The realization that he hadn’t seen his boyfriend at all today suddenly dawned on him, and he began to silently freak out.
“I-I uh…” he stuttered. “I don’t really know where he is….”
Fanny stared at him as if he’d just admitted to committing a war crime. “I-what?! How do you not know where your own boyfriend is!?”
It was then that Black Hole realized that he hadn’t really been paying attention to Tree at all these past few days. His focus had mostly been on maintaining the crack in the sky. Guilt began eating him up almost instantly, and he scrambled up from his position and began sprinting towards the hotel, leaving a confused Fanny behind.
Meanwhile, in his own room, Tree was feeling absolutely miserable. He’d woken up last night with a fever, and so far, it hadn’t gotten any better. His head felt like it was splitting open, and his body felt horribly sore and weak.
Ever since he’d woken up, Tree hadn’t left his room at all, minus heading down to the kitchen to make himself a warm cup of tea to try and soothe himself. It helped, sort of.
But the thing he wanted more than anything was his boyfriend. He hasn’t seen much of Black Hole at all these past few days, him being focused on maintaining the crack so it wouldn’t cause any more problems.
It was understandable why he’d willingly spend all his time keeping it in check, seeing as the world almost ended because of it. Tree didn’t hold any grudges against Black Hole for doing what he did. In fact, he found it honorable. But he’d be lying if he said he hasn’t been feeling lonely these past few days, especially now more than ever.
Laying in their shared bedroom, Tree closed his eyes, curling up into a ball in an attempt to get some sleep, which was made harder from the horrible migraine he had.
Between trying to ignore the pain felt throughout his body and trying to fall asleep, Tree barely registered the knock on the door. He didn’t say anything at first, not wanting to interact with anyone at the moment, but that quickly changed once he heard a voice on the other side of the door.
“Tree? Darling? Are you in here?”, Black Hole asked. Almost immediately, in a softer voice than normal, Tree replied. “I’m here my love.”
Black Hole carefully opened the door and peaked inside, and sure enough, there he was. Buried under the covers of their bed was Tree. As soon as Black Hole entered the room, both of their eyes lit up with happiness.
“Tree!”, Black Hole called out, flying over to him and wrapping him in a tight hug which Tree happily returned. “I’ve missed you….”, he whispered softly, nuzzling into his chest.
“I know. I’m so sorry for not spending enough time with you these past few days,” Black Hole replied, feeling guilty once again. He brought a hand up to Tree’s face, wanting to offer comfort, but was immediately alarmed by how abnormally warm his face felt.
“Tree, are you….are you feeling okay?” Black Hole asked, concern clear on his face. Tree looked at him for a bit, seemingly having forgotten that he was sick for a while before nodding and laying his head on his chest once more. “Yeah….m’not feeling too well right now….”
“My love, why didn’t you tell me?” Black Hole questioned, playing with his fluffy hair to try and soothe him.
In a tired voice, Tree replied, “You were already so stressed out about the crack, I……” he paused. “I didn’t want you to worry about me as well.”
“Tree….” Black Hole said, feeling more guilty then ever. He lowered himself onto the bed, carefully bringing his boyfriend’s head onto his chest, continuing to toy around with his hair. “I….I’m so sorry for not paying more attention to you, I should’ve-“
“My star”, Tree interrupted sweetly. “The only thing that matters to me now is that your here with me.” He reached over to plant a small kiss on his cheek before laying down on his chest again.
Black Hole laid there, slightly flustered. He snapped out of it quickly, however, and placed a kiss on his head. “Is there anything I can do for you? Anything you need?”
“I told you. All I need is you. And sleep.”
A chuckle escaped from Black Hole as he brought the covers over the both of them.
“Then sleep my flower. I’ll be here for you until you get better.

Chapter Text
“Have you seen the clips from the new K-Pop Demon Hunter movie?”
“Hm?”
The afternoon offered a peaceful and calming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing. And that was just what Winner and Clock were doing.
Both were in each other’s embrace as they lay on their shared bed, scrolling through their phones. Occasionally they would show the other something they thought was interesting or funny, which was one of their favorite ways to spend time together.
On this particular day, Winner had been coming across many videos of a recently released movie that had everyone in a chokehold. And after seeing one (or five) clips, they were convinced. They had to see this movie.
Now, however, they wanted to get their boyfriend on board as well.
“I haven’t, actually,” Clock responded to their partners question, glancing over at their screen. “Why, is it really good?”
“It’s number one in movies right now,” Winner continued, clearly interested in the film. “And it has some really great songs we should listen to!”
Clock nodded as his partner continued, paying attention but also fidgeting with the sleeves of his hoodie. Granted, he was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable. The weather wasn’t too hot, but it also wasn’t ideal to wear something long-sleeved.
But he’d deal with it. Being uncomfortable was nowhere near as bad as it would be if he uncovered his arms. The looks he’d get……he didn’t even want to think about it.
Instinctively, Clock glanced over at his wrist, gently tugging at his sleeve in order to hide…..
Scars.
So many scars.
It wasn’t something he was proud of. Back then, he was in such a depressive state, what with his team completely forgetting to recover him for a year. The fact that they didn’t even intentionally bring him back either made him feel even worse.
Clock had decided right then that it would only be a matter of time before he eventually attempted to kill himself. So he disregarded any self-respect he had for himself, slashing his arms so often that it almost became a daily routine for him.
That all changed, however, the moment he began to date Winner. Anytime they were together, Clock could feel all his worries melt away. They were everything he wasn’t: beautiful, intelligent, loving, happy- he could go on for hours at how perfect they were.
He was even proud to admit that he had stopped cutting his arms since.
That’s why it’d be so devastating for him if they found out. The sheer thought alone was almost enough to make Clock want to cut himself again-
“Hey, are you okay?”
Immediately upon hearing his partners voice, Clock jerked his head up, starting to feel guilty for not paying attention to them.
“Huh? Oh, s-sorry love, I was just-“
“Why are you covering yourself?” Winner questioned, starting to realize that they’ve never seen their lover without a sweater on. Sure, some people preferred to wear something comfortable, but it seemed weird to them that Clock never wore something short-sleeved before.
The other froze, mind completely blank. He tried to think of some excuse that wouldn’t involve him showing his arms, but he had nothing. Clock began to shake, fear gripping him so tight that he could barely breathe.
“I-I-I…” he stuttered, tears beginning to well up in his eyes. Oh god no. Please no. Anything but this.
Winner, alarmed at the sudden onset of tears from their lover, took both his hands into theirs, trying to offer comfort. “Hey, don’t cry! I-I’m sorry, did I do something wrong?”
Clock shook his head, trying so hard not to let any tears spill from his eyes. It didn’t work. He pulled his hands away from his partner, covering his face as he began to cry. Beside him, Winner shifted next to him, putting both of their arms around their boyfriend. They pulled him down to their chest, gently rubbing his back as they whispered soft words of comfort.
“Shh, there there. I’m right here for you my love. Shhh….” they whispered, tears threatening to spill out of their own eyes. “Can you tell me what’s wrong, please? I want to help you..”
Clock lay there in his partner’s arms, sobs shaking throughout his body. He thought for a moment, sobs getting slightly quieter.
Then, almost without thinking, he pulled up the sleeves of his hoodie, revealing the many years of scars underneath.
A small but horrified gasp escaped from Winners’s mouth. They sat there, frozen, trying to make sense of what they were seeing, hoping to find a different explanation for what they saw.
There wasn’t. Not that they knew of.
Clock avoided their gaze altogether, suddenly realizing what he’d just did and beating himself up in the head for it.
His eyes closed shut. He braced himself for whatever negative retaliation he thought he’d receive from his partner.
Instead, he felt their arms wrap around him, pulling Clock into a comforting hug, tears forming in his eyes once more as they spoke.
“We don’t have to talk about this right now if you don’t want to,” Winner said, their voice full of understanding and love. “But I want you to know that I’ll be here for you whenever it hurts, forever.”
They sniffled, tears also gliding down their face as well as they tightened the grip they had on their boyfriend. “A-And for what it’s worth, you still being here is a sign that you deserve to live, Clock. I love you so very much, and nothing you do will ever change that.”
Clock nodded in understanding, tears of relief staining his face, which was buried in Winner’s shoulder. The feeling of a thousand weights left his body, and for the first time in a while, he felt calm.
Neither of them said a word. They didn’t have to.
Being in each other’s embrace was more than enough for them.
