Work Text:

After the Invasion That Almost Never Happened, Casey Jr decided to travel the world. It was all amazing. He saw things that he only ever heard in stories. He saw the Eiffel tower, the Pyramids in Egypt, and many more amazing sites. But, now that is over. He’s decided to settle down in New York with the younger versions of his Masters. Technically they were his legal guardians. When Master Donatello made him a legal identity, he needed legal guardians. Leonardo quickly volunteered, as his legal identity was eighteen. Cassandra, who was actually eighteen, adopted him as her little brother. Now, he decided to go to college

Eastlaird University was a small college, but for someone who wasn’t used to standardized learning, it was perfect. And, Master Leonardo was there, so he had someone to go to if he needed help. Donatello managed to hack into the school, and get him a place. While morally wrong, it was necessary for someone who just got their GED and no prior school records. Of course, Leonardo has no idea, he can’t be an accomplice if Casey were to be found out. Which is why he called his mother when the dean, Mr. Baxter, called him into his office.

“What do you need bro?” Cassandra’s voice sounded through the speaker.

“I uh, need a legal guardian.”

“You are an adult Casey, you don’t need a legal guardian for whatever it is that you got yourself into. Call your father.” Casey winced as she hung up.

“Why do you need a legal guardian? I should be calling the cops. You hacked into our system to get yourself into this school. You are an adult, you should face adult charges.” Dean Baxter leaned back in his chair. This kid seemed at a loss for any social norms. Like not hacking into a secure system.

“One more phone call?” Casey was already dialing his master before the dean could say no.

“Leon speaking. What do you need?”

“I need you in Mr. Baxter’s office.”

“... It’s the first day, Casey. What did you do?”

“Master Donatello may have gotten me into this school by hacking. I would like my legal guardian to be present.”

“... On my way.” Oh. He sounded angry. Maybe Casey was better off doing this alone.

“He’s uh, he’s on his way.”

“I don’t know what your dad can do to get you out of this situation. I won’t accept a bri-” The door slammed open.

“You said you were offered a scholarship!” A very large turtle in a white, button down shirt, long pleated skirt, and blue mask barged into the office. Baxter’s eyes widened at the sight of his favorite teacher. He looked closer at the boy sitting in his office.

“You’re the kid from the video!” Casey and Leonardo looked back at Baxter.

“What video?” Leonardo just sighed as he sat in the other chair. He still hasn’t seen the video. April refused to let them see the final product.

“Leonardo Hamato is your legal guardian? Did you know he hacked into the school?”

“You know, I’m not surprised, but no, I didn’t know. I was told he was offered a scholarship. Wait, how did you find out? Donatello wouldn’t have left any trace.”

“I found it suspicious that someone with no prior school records and a barely legal identity managed to get accepted to college without an essay or anything. My husband has a friend who is great with technology and barely managed to find out what happened.” Baxter leaned back in his chair. Everything was starting to make more sense, “I won’t call the cops and will allow Mr. Jones to attend if you explain how you are the legal guardian of someone the same age as you.”

“That doesn’t sound very legal.”

“Honestly, I’m just intrigued by your life at this point. I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff in my life. Anything new is just entertaining. Unless it’s Miss O’Niel, then it’s just exhausting.” Leo laughed at the barb.

“Casey, go back to class,” The ravenette hesitated before getting out of his seat. Leo spoke up before he could leave, “We will talk about this when we get home. Tell Donnie that he’s not getting out of this one.”

“Yes, Master Leonardo.” The slider looked back at his boss as the door closed.

“What do you know about the invasion of New York 15 years ago?” Baxter’s eyes narrowed.

“Nothing much. A hole tore into the sky and out came a massive sphere that tore apart the city. The whole thing took less than a few hours, but the damage caused was massive. Then it went back into the tear and exploded. There were rumors of heroes, but nothing was ever confirmed.” Blue eyes stared at the turtle in suspicion.

“Hmm. It would have taken a lot longer than a few hours if it wasn’t for Casey Jones. He doesn’t have any records because he comes from the future.”

“Okay.”

“He comes from a future where the invasion was never stopped.”

“Oh.” The blonde leaned forward. They witnessed so much destruction that day, but that boy must have seen much more.

“He was born and raised during the apocalypse. It’s all he ever knew. I was his leader, his sensei, maybe even his father. The war got so bad, that future me made the decision to send him back to the day it started. He got here, found us, and warned us. But, It was already too late. The invasion started earlier for us. Three came through and we managed to put a buffer in their plans, but it didn’t last long. Their plans came to fruition, and it took everything my family had to stop them, but we did. After that, he was just a boy with no identity. Donatello made him a new one, but he was sixteen, so legally, he needed guardians.”

“But you were also sixteen?”

“Legally, I was eighteen. You can do a lot when your twin is a genius.”

“Uh-huh.”

“So. I became his legal guardian.”

“You are one surprising turtle.”

“I get that a lot.” The turtle gave one smug grin, “Now, if you don’t mind. I have a class to teach, a twin to scold, and a pseudo son to punish.” The slider got up to leave.

“Once you’re done with your brother, my husband’s friend would like to have a word with him.” Baxter grinned as he handed the mutant a card, “Tucker’s never met anyone who could outsmart him.”

“I’ll make sure he gets this.”

As soon as he got home, there was his 30 year old son and his husband waiting for him on the couch. The softshell looked annoyed, and the boy already looked chastised. April and Mikey must have already gotten to them. Leo stood before the pair with a frown on his face.

“Have you learned your lesson?”

“Yes/No.” Leo glared at his twin.

“Casey, if you pass the semester with all A’s, then you won’t be punished. That includes my class, I will not go easy on you. You may leave.” Casey smiled before leaving the lair. He did have his own place, he was an adult. But he still wasn’t quite used to the modern world. “Now, you,” he looked to the softshell, “I could have lost my job. You are a bad influence on CJ.”

“You wouldn’t have been fired. Mr. Baxter loves you. Besides, it should have been impossible for him to find out.”

“He just so happens to have a hacker friend that is almost as good as you are,” Donnie looked intrigued as he held up the card, “You aren’t getting this until I’m sure you’ve been properly punished.”

“Scoff. I could easily find out who this hacker is.” Leo just smiled.

“Fine, then I’ll just increase your punishment from no sex for a week to a month.”

“What!? You can’t do that. You’ll never last.”

“I have three other partners that can do the job quite nicely. They will also abstain from you if I ask nicely. So, are we going to be a good boy?” Donnie glared at his smug twin’s stupid smug face.

“Fine.” Leo smiled as he kissed his twin and walked off. He needed to go cuddle his kids.
